well, from what i know in the cave in forgotten ark(the one near the ark)

It appears that there used to be water and that the spirits used to collect them when they were alive, but crabs started appearing i think and invaded the area

this all just my assumption, it might not be the canon explanation

They go to Eden to free the petrified children that got caught up in the storm. The beginning sequence of the game when you first go to Isle has the Light tell us to return the fallen light of the children. I assume Sky Kids need to do this in order to let the souls of the petrified children in Eden finally ascend and rest in peace

It's a bit trippy how Seasonal Spirits can stay for so long on the planet without being limited to very short memories and to the area of their gravestones. Like seriously, Cackling Cannoneer from the previous season was able to dive several feet below sea level

Sky aka starlight in my series. Was the child of a king who stole the light from the original king

The king of darkness…
He than use that light to create the people of sky and brought down sages or the temple guardians

As for journey…|| he is the prince who was born from third temple before they descended. But to hide him from the eyes of the king she threw him down to the wastelands||

||Now starlight already met flower 🌸 because she was her lady in waiting a long time ago||

|| Soon after temple holders were born. So the king broke pieces of the original light (the heart) and gave it to the temples decedents. But starlight was given the core of the heart||

||Soon after curious journey wonders into starlights realm…. And pretended to be Peter Pan from tales of old. He told starlight stories and eventually they bonded… but nothing good lasts forever ||

||So… one day starlight showed journey the hears core, and naturally he reacted due to his dark nature wanting to have its stolen light return. He attacked sky, marking their eye with a scare. Soon after flower 🌸 came running in, and tried to stop journey. That’s when young cloud and snow was visiting starlight at the same time.||

||The elder who was over looking them saw what had happened and asked that nothing to be said of what had happened. He than took journey and hid him in a realm even the king new nothing about.||

||Starlight who was heartbroken didn’t know why journey did what he did and cried tears of light for many days. The same light that sky childre collet to this day.||

||So the elder took pity on starlight and told them the truth behind the light. Shocked 😮 they went to confront their father only to over hear a conversation about moving the light temple closer to eden… starlights mother. But if the light was to be removed from the world all light beings would die. But the king did not care for simple creatures||

||So knowing that the father would take away the shards to create golden dragons for his bidding, starlight request her mother to hide the core. In which the core float up to the stars never to be seen again. However father saw this and chain starlight inside their realm. Their ankles scared from being pierced.||

||The king was furious. He wanted nothing more to do with darkness because his precious child was tainted by their ideals. So he set a tramp to kill the secret prince once and for all.||

||He pretended to be forgiving to starlight but left them chained. Only flower, cloud, snow, Anubis and another would entertain starlight… but they saw that starlight was longing for something the did not see.||

||Snow and cloud knew what it was that starlight was missing and found a way using keys in the form on necklaces to open up the hidden realm… but they couldn’t get through the seal. That’s when a child of the old appear and led them in… saying that journey must be free so that the world they lived in that was created by them could prosper.||

||With journey now freed, they immediately rushed to starlight. But the king expected this and dragged starlight back to the castle leaving only flower and Anubis with fear and worry. By the time journey got there flower explain that starlight was staged off and it was too late.||

||Journey took a look at the mountain and knew that what awaits was a tragedy…. Still he wanted to be with starlight and even ask for forgiveness…. Everyone that knew starlight wanted to save them too but tried to stop journey for it would mean death against the king||

||Still journey chose to go… even the dragons was expecting him…. So everyone went to tell the elders of what was to come if there was nothing done.||

||Meanwhile starlights father was starting to show signs of denial from the heart. It was sucking his life trying to restore the broken balance by creating its own darkness. Starlight pleaded to deaf ears for all the king wanted was to be with eden once more||.

||When journey shows up, he tries to command the heart to do his bidding… consuming himself in the process. Finally the sages came. And the king commanded that journey be put to death for tainting the heart. To which starlight cries that it was all a lie… still no one listens.||

||The elder of fire went to put journey down for his main duty was to protect the light. Starlight in dire need to escape from her fathers grasp use a red shard to cut their hair and ran in the way of the spear||. However….

||Though majority of the spear was stopped, it still pierced journey. And to the tired journey, it looked as though starlight stab him themselves…. Journey slowly starts to die in starlights arms…||

||The temple rumble and quake around them as the heart no longer has a will to shine without its darkness… taking the king with it. Flower was deflamed by a red crystal||

||Cloud lost his sister under a fallen pillar and many lost their lives without the light. The elders tried to move starlight to safety be they refused||

||Instead they place their heart inside journey and gave him to the temple of time. Commanded cloud and Anubis to look after him and to take flower and snow. Once everyone was gone. Starlight sat in the front of the heart in the red storm. A heart that scream with betrayal||.

||It cursed the temple, it cursed the people, it cursed the creatures and anything that touched the sky. But starlight wasn’t mad at what it said. Instead… if it’s darkness you seek let me bring it to you in the form of my soul. As so starlight gave the heart a soul. And as for their body. It broke across the land giving back the light to the people of the world…. All that was left||…

||Was a fragmented conscious…. After eden found pieces of her child’s lost mind, she was able to restore starlight from nothing…. No memories, a partial pass… and a small hope of survival. The heart felt guilty and was in debt to starlight for sparing the child of darkness. So it vowed to forever stay with starlight with or without memories… because the heart itself was the love journey had for starlight||

||So when starlight met journey and flower… though they lost memories of a child named starlight… their travels together reveal the truth… a tragedy and finally a happy ending. That’s all I’m saying for now||

Oh and also the plays was designed to tell the story by flow, Chen and spore who was not affected. While abzu live in secret

If you want existential angst, then go for it! But the point of Eden is in two parts:

1. You help the Spirits ascend, completing their goal
2. The deep, intrinsic value that comes with climbing the final part of a mountain. Basically “I’ve been this far, why should we stop now?”

On a side note, ascended candles are horrible and need to be removed

I just started playing the game and I have this fun idea. When you frost start and get your wings they are big and floppy and you just can’t control them well and they are huge compared to your body, the more you play the more you grow and your wings become more manageable intill your a Master at your wings. (Wings refers to capes)

It stops being clunky and oversized feeling and always gets in the way as they get more WL and can control it better

My friend said to share it here because people might like it, so I did after asking in questions channel. Ya it is like that I was like that when I frost started playing and I still am now as I push my wings way to far and they throw at fit at me. At least how I picture it

Flying takes a lot to get used to, I’ve been playing for ages and I still suck at it 💔 especially with landing on small objects lol. There are some tricks, like corkscrewing, that would make sense for skykids to learn later when their wings are less floppy/more controllable because it’s a really tight maneuver

I would hope so. I did not want to bother poking around the outside of the tunnel incase there were more that did not exactly appear on the inside. Though would also assume if it is OOB, it might not be intended to be in the game.

OOB assets tend to walk that very fine line of being canon, though they usually are flimsy when it comes to including them with what little threads we have to weave a complete canon with.

I do think these back pieces were meant to either act as shields in the Light Awaits version. Though in the game, they could have been used to represent a more important shrine. If not a shrine for the elders without necessarily given each one their own statue.

tbf i'd consider oob assets more canon than not, i mean, we have a leftover boat asset oob in the forest caves map & flight brought us a boat for good here during the second quest, so thematically-speaking they wouldn't be far-off.

when you reach the isle temple and start your journey, the halls are lined with boats. when you reach the very end, instead of boats, there are the places where boats stop to rest

oh my god, like the mantas following you through your journey... the boats depart from the isle, get loaded with pots in prairie, load them off in the forest, are used for transportation in the valley... and then are seen crashed here and there in the wasteland, vault (starlight desert) and eden... for the last corridor to be lined with resting spots...

it's just really nice how things seem to be moving from one realm to the next

It is implied that the wasteland was a port for the Ark to take off from and head toward eden, and since it would have to dock there too, it would be amazing to have seen either the wrecked dock or parts of the ark in the storm.

Come to think of the Ark like that, in Biblical tales, Noah had build an ark to save his family and the animals from the floods that would have lasted long enough to destroy most of the life on earth.
Then the ark even had settled on a mountain afterwards.

What if Sky had faced disasters before and the ancestors were able to survive them, but this one was too much?

developping a theory that the beam from eden wasnt always there & that it was installed here by the golden trial prodigy (prophecy murals), maybe it could have been a replacement after the stars fell (and elders may have lost their power to send souls up among the stars), which means ancestors may have faced 2 great disasters !

The stars falling (when darkness came) - first rupture of the death and rebirth cycle, likely after the discovery of darkstone since darkness is mentionned, the elders lost their powers. Mended when the eden beam was made
Eden - second rupture of the death and rebirth cycle, eden crystal is shattered and may have kicked up a huge storm that impeded ancestors and light creatures from reaching the beam for some time. The storm starts to clear right before or very soon after the arrival of sky children

Could that be why the trials were created?
In the first darkness, no one could ascend to The Light, so the trials were a way to test their resolve to find someone who could help the elders ascend again, but shinyboi only had enough power to ascend the elders and not all the ancestors.

I have an insane thought: We see the Prairie Elder using Green Light, which is associated with the Earth Prophet. The Flight guide was an apprentice of the Prairie Elder. The Earth Prophet theme plays during the first Flight quest.

It covers a decent chunk yeah but I think it would be cool if such significant details to the guide's and wind path's history could be found in the game, or at least be more obvious if that's what the pots and outfit are. I think games should have all their lore inside them instead of spread out like this, I've suggested here about adding a mural with the prairie constellation or a depiction of the elder but it's unlikely to change now that the season is over :(

I wonder if that, coupled with being the former Daylight Prairie Elder's apprentice, would imply that the ancestors not only worked with the elders on a more physical bases and had disagreements in the past.
By physical bases, I mean the elders were working with the ancestors in person, and not through spiritual communication.

If one were able to prove whether it is the case or not, would in fact help determine if the elders were in fact physical beings in the past, or they only appear to be physical.

Then again, they look like physical being when it comes to their cutscenes. Which is not unique to ancestor spirit memories being that they are elders. That they are never shown as spirits to skykids. They may have been illustrated to appear as spirits at one point in concept art, as well as promotional art, though in the game they have always appeared in a physical form.
There is also the matter that ||summoning the elders|| in ||Orbit|| would show they are different in appearance compared to the winged light children (that appear featureless and seemingly made of star light), and the spirits that would ||give skykids their wing buffs before being reborn||.

I am not saying that elders were once mortals (ancestors), though the Light Awaits lore does suggest this. I am not saying that the elders are spirits themselves, since they do not appear or behave like spirits would. This includes their animation from being ||summoned|| since skykids can do a similar animation when summoning their friends from the constellations. Although I do think these elders is/were living beings, and their role in the story of Sky cannot be directly compared to the ancestors.
Until we have more in game content on the elders, most of their lore may have to rely on concept art and references from the spirits.

Does anyone have a theory on how skykids' meditation works? Aka what meditation is? We can do so many different things by meditating (switching realms, activating quests etc.)
Also which role does the meditation statue play? Especially since it's not only used for meditation (in Eden the statues act as a source of light) Because of the statues I feel like the meditation is more like praying in some way?
Maybe by meditating we are connecting with Megabird and can use her power? The statue could symbolize something like a human version of Megabird or something like Megabird's handmaids. Since the statue has eyes that can light up I think the statue could serve as a connecting tool between Megabird and Skykids which we can activate by meditating and connecting our souls made of light with the light stored in the statue. Does that make any sense? :D

1] as to what meditation is, my personal idea is that it’s us focusing our inner light outward. hence why we can use it to activate stuff that might need light to work (like the quest statue, vault elevator) and can use it to focus enough to enter other realms or planes of reality (elder cutscenes.) I don’t know why we can use it to go home; that might be a gameplay mechanic but I hate using that explanation for everything I can’t explain off the top of my head, so hoping someone else has better ideas than me. It might be a mechanic that’s kept generally vague in terms of how exactly it works just so tgc can use it for more stuff though, I don’t know.
2] The meditation statues I’m not sure about. I’m still trying to figure out what those are. they’re really good at holding/using light so maybe some kind of mechanism?? although I’m not sure why they’re people shaped. Regarding the statues… I don’t think they are just fancy lights. As you said I‘m pretty sure there’s a deeper meaning to them. Especially the ones at Eden‘s storm and in the tunnels inbetween have to have a deeper meaning since Eden is a holy place and everything seems sacred/meaningful there. On the other hand, my theory about the statues being human shaped analogies of Megabird wouldn’t make sense regarding the statues in Eden, since Eden‘s castle/the King probably weren’t worshipping Megabird (anymore). My theory could make sense though, if the statues weren’t placed there by the King but by someone who wanted to help us Skykids get through the storm. I don’t know who that could be though haha

the eye of Eden is a big darkstone crystal (darkstone are those blue diamonds you have to light around the realms to make stuff work) that got corrupted somehow. It seems to both suck in all the light around it and spew out darkness, causing the storm surrounding Eden. In this way it was one of the major causes of the apocalypse, leading to many deaths. Its original purpose is unclear but may relate to powering or taking power from the massive glowing beam that shoots out of the mountain and sends us to orbit.

Or at the very least… Sky is vague enough in terms of time period and technology and whatnot that it doesn’t feel too jarring/like it couldn’t possibly exist in canon.

Not really, Performance actually fits perfectly in Valley and the Village, it doesn't feel really out of place in the area of the game that's meant to represent the peak of society which seems to greatly idolize artists and sportspeople, Performance doesn't feel out of place at all in Valley

Sanctuary is on that awkward middle point where it technically fits Prairie thematically but it still feels really out of place where it is

Sanctuary? Eh... It's not offensively out of place I guess but it certainly isn't anywhere near the level of other seasons

Yes, from what I’ve seen, the factors that are dependant on the season location is how much lore there is, and generally what style the cosmetics are(example, all seasonal forest masks are sleek and generally monochrome, aside from simple markings.)

Vault is a good place for the mystical, dreamlike nature of the Little Prince, and the “dreamlike worlds collide” description connects with Office.

What supposedly fits in Isle and what doesn’t is an odd topic, but I think Prophecy’s ancient vibes and use of murals make it feel good in Isle.

-There is Lightseekers to Assembly, but besides that, yeah there’s absolutely nothing.

-Abyss makes sense since it seems like it’s far away from the devastation of Wasteland, and Enchantment only looks nice with our help

To be honest none of these reasons make sense to me. of course prophecy is in isle, it’s heavily implied to take place towards the start of the kingdom anyways. obviously the entirety of wasteland doesn’t look the same, it has variance, and the pretty spots in enchantment seem to be tied to the lights there. a lot of the time when I see people complain (I don’t think you’re complaining btw, talking about other people I’ve seen) about things not fitting in Sky it just feels like they have a super rigid idea of how the game should be that doesn’t hold up to closer inspection or really just thinking about it for more than a few seconds

like it’s true that each realm does have a loose theme, but playing around with that theme, executing it differently each time, and/or purposefully turning it on its head (like flight and hidden forest) makes for a lot more interesting stories and seasons than if they were all just copies of each other and of the realm’s existing vibe as a whole

the game is meant to be based off an entire kingdom that fell, so of course there would be a lot of varieties in the people and what they do as well as the environment! I love seasons that subvert the expectations of the realm to some extent, IMO they’ve never really felt out of place and they make the world as a whole feel more alive :-}

The others all have to do with how the elemental forces can be used to advance the ancestors’ civilization. I don’t know if fire has the same relationship as sustenance for them as for sky kids. I think they used it more to keep dark creatures at bay. The Earth power has potential for construction, and the Wind power has potential for transportation, since on those boating missions they all are engaged in on all the murals in Isle and Forest, they need to cover a ton of ground.

Yeah, actually! The Megabird appears in concept art more, but that’s one of the only places it appears directly in the Live game. I believe somewhere there is a compilation of Megabird imagery but I don’t have it on me basically they are generally viewed as the deity of the Sky world, may or may not be synonymous with the Light. Some use the terms interchangeably but some make a distinction (Alasdair has a good explanation but again I don’t have it on me).

Just like the refugee and the warrior, Saluting Prospector and Courageous Soldier died together. Judging from the area they sat on, Saluting Prospector was hiding under the rubble (idk what the actual hell that was) while Courageous Soldier was in plain sight, close to the stairs. Fast forward to the death scenes. Courageous Soldier respects Saluting Prospector so much that he sacrificed himself to save him. Sadly, both of them got attacked with the soldier dying first, and then the prospector, giving his comrade his last salute

Basically, Stealthy Survivor died from getting too distracted from the environment that a krill caught them while in their signature pose.

Because Lightseekers came before Rhythm, I'll start with your all time favourite spirit. Y'all might think the parent died from just hunger, but there's more to it than that. Truth be told, Pleaful Parent had been planning, navigating the graveyard, and how he was going to escape the graveyard in full shape. He was frightened with the krills until one day, he decided to give it a shot. Pleaful Parent observed the krills' movements while crouching and hiding from them. He was so close to the stairs that lead them to the battlefield, only to see the red light coming from behind. Yk what happened next.
Despite his reflexes (yes I include that for fun), the scar from that attack left a big impact on his health. He grew sick, lost too weight and needed to consume food to avoid death. The crabs are the only source of food for him, so when he failed to catch the escaped crab, he kneeled, stretched his arm, and died.

Long story short, Pleaful Parent died from famine

If you think about it, from all the spirits that died in wasteland, Respectful Pianist gives me the "lonely death" vibe.

I mean, the reliving scenes say it all. He succeeded on reaching the cliff and escape the krills' eyes, but at what cost?
He waited for his crew to find them, but none of them seem to show up. Playing his piano somehow wouldn't summon them. Unfortunately for the poor pianist, they didn't know the crew had been dead before them

Admiring Actor: He couldn't handle the fact that while he admired everyone, not everyone admired him and got depression
Leaping Dancer: Last time he jumped he couldn't fall correctly and broke his legs
Scolding Student: The group abandoned her bcuz she was scolding them for no reason and she died from hypothermia
Hairtousle Teen: Pleaful parent left him in the undergrounds to go gw and then he fell from the cliff where he had been
Playfight Herbalist: One day noodling got tired that she always play so hard and left her, that broke her heart and she died
Thoughtful Director: He got inside the tunnel and when he got outside again he was in the same place, door was already closed so he got in the tunnel again. At the end he didn't make it out so he died from mental illness
Crabwalk: He got lost in the caves and got surrounded by crabs. He stayed with them and got several brain damages from the crabs but never left

now that i think abt it the only spirits who don’t take part in the endless cycle of orbit are the seasonal guides, right?

In a way, they seem to be in a similar situation as the non-season spirits. Albeit one can theorise their spirits laid dormant for much longer and would be revealed to the skykids as they explore more of the realms.

Since they are treated in a similar way to other spirits (they have memories, cosmetics, interact with each other and can be ascended along with the non-season spirits), the few differences that set them aside would be they are not shown in the realm's elder temples and have more interactions with the skykids (especially for the recent seasons spirits).
