AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaa……..
further proof that Salem is a krill
This is completely untrue simply because I would never do free babysitting like this and also because I am definitely not a krill all along. It was alasdair all along open your eyes
btw what are your pronouns quickly, Salem /genq
Krill Uber is an honest and important job I don't see any reason to be ashamed of it
they/them and xe/xem :-)
I must thank Salem for xer service to us
Is it just me being gay or are there more rainbows popping up in sky recently
june approaches.
It’s not just you
thank to thatskyshop for an early second anniversary present……..second anniversary

My second anniversary is right here too
I was a uhhhhhhhh enchantment moth
i think performance guide listens to abba religiously
enchantment ganggg
performance backstage is just constant abba being blasted from the speakers
Guitar player (I don't remember their exact name don't come for me) love acdc and pretends to hate Abba but knows it's a bop
stagehand wears a cat ear hood so that we get distracted by the adorable cat ears and not notice the subtle headphone-shaped bulges on the side
they’re listening to abba too
I forgot what abba was

The cat hood is because the headphones have cat ears on them
Hey! Everyone can someone tell me alef resh’s story :333
WAIT THAT ONE CAT HEADPHONE MEME LET ME FIND IT
wait do you know the one
I don't but I really need to see this now lol
?????
a bit closer picture by the way
don't mean to interrupt so carry on!
Disney
It's so shiny 💫💫💫
Blue and golden eden be like-
So someone from TGC one answered a question about Light Creatures and said, that they are born from light, that the light kinda just manifests and it becomes a light creature. So…… what are the eggs then if its not a light creature
Easter Eggs. Literally and figuratively. In game they seem to be a sculpture. They used to be there for a quest in light awaits
They are uhm
Sky Eggs are alive. They secretly have legs and they will follow you when you're not looking.
Start running.
like the eggs from rise of the guardians
Ohh maybe ill look a video up the quest. It seems intereseting to know. Because if there are no normal creatures who lay eggs, then how should the ancestors know how to sculpture an egg
-or they where just bored and would paint some oval looking rock
-shrug- Maybe their birds do lay eggs. At the end of the day it's a game made by humans, and we're bound to add human things.
For example, a random bookcase eve though there is no books🙂
But… a spirit was reading a book in their memories
Is there any books that you can actually use though?
Mmmmmm no i dont think so
But even if there was, can sky kids even understand their language, we see on the golden metal thingies that turn, that there are scriptures
There are the vault books that work differently i think, i think they work kinda like shared memories
you just made me wonder, does the world of sky have it’s own language?
Or do they express themselves with drawings on walls?
I am absoloutly sure they do ! There are scriptures we dont understand, and also in the end credits the song that is heared there is a made up language
sneezing geographer has a whole island made of books too
Is the starlight desert part of the sky universe ? I mean it is the little prince story.
Wouldnt that also mean that sky would have to need a plain, cause there was a plain in the story.
What do the books tell? Do they have their own fairy tells? Is there the spirit and the krill? Cinderspirit?
the starlight desert is part of the world of sky, yes. As for what is in the books, I don't quite remember, but there are drawings on a large open book that show up when reliving the spirit's memory
Wait a minute….
Is there crimes?
the story was also adapted to better fit within the world of sky, and we don't see a plane. However there is a crashed boat close to the Rose, perhaps that's the stand-in for the plane here
Or like certain laws spirits have to follow
I have no idea where you're going with this but as the kingdom was a society, they did in fact have rules everyone had to follow
That makes sense. Guess ill go around the starlight desert, maybe ill find some interesting things
Are elders presidents?!?!

They mined stones out of the ,,forbidden forest“ so i guess there was someone who put up a rule to forbidd it. Well the rule was broken after that anyways
I'm sure feeding the chibis to the krill was bound to be a mandatory law in one point of history in the kingdom.
Is not to tame exotic creatures a rule????
Do you think the St Exupery estate ninja-lawyers will get me if I draw a sky version of the little prince /j
wrong channel I thought it was Genchat lmao sorry for interrupting--
Uhm-
who's to say? officially the little prince is no longer in the game
OSHDNDHDNDHDB THEY SAY HES A DIFFERENT CHARACTER ??? Thats so funny
that's not the little prince! that's just uhhhh. his cousin
this is why they refer to him in-game as the "Friend of the Rose"
thats not the little prince thats Curious Companion
little prince trailer was so funny, I was in a server with people who weren't familiar with the book at all. So when the boa constrictor image appeared on the door we collectively went "what the hell is that"
Let me tell you it’s just as funny for someone who read the book as a kid. watching me and my friends collectively lose out MINDS over that silly little hat-snake symbol
was it like Steve in smash levels of losing it
Felt like a fever dream!
I like to think of the season of the little prince as a sky version of the book. The events really happened and it's just a weird group of spirits
It was entertaining to watch the people that don’t know the story play too, but scary for me because at the end uh
Thé prince uh
rip little french boy
Yeah 😔
May he reposez en paix😔
ever notice how darkness has an oily sheen
I think that's meant to imply that the darkness is created as a byproduct in the wasteland factories
I have a question, what was the main goal of the wasteland factories?
The broken temple in wasteland looks like the forest temple, and I'm pretty sure there is concept art of the power crystals used to open doors and stuff being made there. Maybe the wasteland factories made the crystals. It would explain why we go to wasteland to gather them in the season of abyss
THAT WAS SO FUNNY
I remember feeling my heart sink at the time at the reveal
Hello 👋
Okay last pics on this i promise ^^' closest i could get to it! stupid windwalls are a thing x_x
I said it once and I will say it again, DISNEY
Hi
The oob, if I recall correctly, is called disney land caslte.
oh my god. eating these
It also looks like a mountain of cotton candy

the unintentional lore implications that each spirit is a different person than who they were when they were life is killing me. they got replaced :(
I HAVE A POEM FOR THIS
I know you were thinking along a slightly different line but just. The idea that the spirits lose most of the memories from their time alive, to the point that they feel that they're no longer who they originally were... augh
That is just way too sad

OH THESE ARE GREAT
I love this
slams door open
I heard somewhere that purple and red light are mind and void respectively
@keen shore WE WERE RIGHT ABOUT RED LIGHT I THINK WE WERE RIGHT
WE WERE RIGHT HOORAY
THE OTHER ELEMENTS HAVE NAMES

Fun fact, you can destroy the rocks in the Eden castle (the pretty one after you die), but on your way to Orbit, you just bump into them.
Perhaps this is another argument the luminous version of the Eden castle is not an entirely real place...
YEAH!! I actually heard that a while ago but was struggling to make sense of it. Like with no other descriptor on how it works, simply saying “void” made it so much more confusing
WHERE DID YOU FIND THIS INFORMATION
WORD OF MOUTH
I FORGOT WHERE THOUGH
I believe Sophos made this.
here they categorize red light as darkness and purple light as magic.
I still believe in Nod’s drawings of the symbols being alchemy-specific variations
ok but purple light being mind makes a lot of sense. its purpose seems to be to realise things and make them physical
red light being void makes sense
the symbol being used for the smoke machine made it all come together. finally reveals the purpose (to conceal things, and assumingly the reverse too)
it’s gotta do the reverse. the murals got revealed
And the Prophecy connection too! In that season you unveil murals as well. Also, didn’t the symbols get updated?
yeah but not on the Ark (thus me thinking ‘those are the alchemy-specific symbols as opposed to standardised ones’)
do you think these are natural elements (and thus fused with light to then be wielded and controlled) alongside the main four?
So the simpler, larger Prophecy symbols might hold a more primitive elemental power, while the smaller Enchantment ones are more distinct, relating to Alchemy?
yeah that’s the idea
either artificial recreations or kinda. modified via this
i think the symbols are just how different times labelled the light. how they were identified originally vs. more contemporary alchemical symbols from the science that developed overtime
ooooo good point
That’s an interesting question. I think it could, as the powers of red and purple light work well with the Prophets. Maybe they held the two powers within themselves and used that to make their prophecies, and then gave it to the Sky world as Red and Purple light
why is mind’s symbol a diamond though? is it a kinda ‘in this context this is culturally seen as an ancestor concept’ thing?
unsure how to describe
Diamonds are found everywhere in Sky, but the specific kind with the dot in the center is found in the Prophecy symbol:
thinking that void’s symbol is linked to uh. how in murals swirly patterns indicate clouds and obscured areas
so invested in Enchantment lore that I feel like at some point I’ll end up making something very inspired by it tbh
I’d love to see whatever you make
I DIDNT RVEN NOTICE THIS I THOUGHT IT WAS RELATED TO SMOKE
I don’t know either. I did see it as a Diamond originally, but the more I think about it, the more I think it’s a stylistically rendered eye. It would make more sense in terms of its general vibes, it would be the opposite to a symbol for obscuring things, and the ancestors’ eyes seem kinda diamond shaped anyways when they don’t have masks
Forest elder diamond is shattered... like Eden diamond...
Their pin poem also mentions them shattering something (in vain)...
y e s
I don’t really see them as opposites - one obscures/reveals things that already exist 🌀, the other creates/reinforces things that don’t already or once were 💠
though that’s own interpretation
It’s weird because they’re like opposite but also not?? I don’t know how to explain it
Maybe “counterpart” is a good word??
perhaps red light exerts some control over darkness, hence why it can unveil pre-existing things that were hidden by darkness (like murals).
bad recreation of enchantment elements through emoji because why not
🌀💧🌬️🌱🔥💠
Didn’t the symbols for some of them get changed to match the Prophecy one?
yes
but the old ones still remain on the Ark so are still relevant
glad that I recorded the memory candle
these are definitely hand-drawn versions; they’re not perfect recreations by any means
sorry for overtaking here with ench blabber. heard the names for the lights we haven’t known the names for and was sent into deep fixation mode
i keep meaning to take screenshots whenever there’s a “catch the light” quest and every single time i forget
They did yeah!! They have the propehcy symbols for them now
Why do people think rhythm guide person is big bird
WAIT I MEANT THE BIG BIRD NOT SESAME STREET
BIG ELDER BIRD
NOOO BIG BIRD 💀
Sky x sesame street when
You’re so right with that cliarifation. Rhythm guide is not Big Bird, Megabird is.
yeah but i’m deadly curious if they added the purple light symbol to it’s quest or if it’s still just the compass symbol
Big Bird IS large, yellow, and powerful….
Megabird kicking down a door like that one vine
What do you guys think the king is holding here?
he's pondering the orb
Nah, mouth open
Munch munch
He straight up eating a light orb like
Maybe it’s red light??? Idk
I wonder if it has a much deeper meaning than that or it is the exact same thing shown
Also i wonder what this means.
Are the elements being used for different purposes? Fire for protection, earth to grow crops etcetc.?
Wield all four and become the avatar
Also is that the megabird? Or some random manta bc im p sure that’s the big lady
Rallying fruitseeker lore
Rallying thrill seeker is so gay that their homosexuality manifested as a separate entity that stands ominously behind them at all times
Sky's Bizarre Adventure: Darkstone is Unbreakable
Sky x my little pony when
That's their stand
Yeah, it seems like it!! I would explain it more, but you summed it up pretty well, so I don’t know if I need to. I mean it’s basically just the elders wielding different magic when I don’t give in to the temptation using paragraphs to explain it.
The large manta is most likely a
unless you’re talking about something else I don’t know pf
it looks exactly like them and its only power is to spawn rainbows whenever rallying thrillseeker sees jellyfish whisperer

Same energy tbh
Y’all ever think that maybe we, the player are the bad guy and the krill are just trying to survive in the wasteland out ancestors created? I mean as we travel around the world we gain back our light by taking it from other creatures. The prairie elder captures and holds butterfly’s, the valley twins try and take our light for their own use. So does the forest elder. The wasteland elder leads what I think would be the army against the krill so maybe there is, or was, a war going on before our arrival. Then with the vault elder there are many markers of death and the manta seem to be ghosts of what they used to be, so the vault elder could be sucking the light from them. This is just a shower thought- Sky: Children of destruction.
If that was somehow canon then the game would go from sky to underground real QUICK
Haha yeah that went dark fast.
I CAN HEAR KOICHI’S VOICE HELP-
The children are sharing their light with the elders. The Forest Elder may be a bit rude about it, but it was light we were already giving to them. Also, the song that plays during the Valley Elders' cutscene actually implies they may be playing with us. It's called 'shall we play' or something
I mean, most of the time light is the good side I rarely see the darkness being the good one
This is true, but I do still believe there was a war between the krill and our ancestors. That’s how the wasteland would theoretically become so dark.
Forest mama might have been waiting for too long so she didn’t hesitate in straight up grabbing the light we give her, she is probably just a little bit impatient
Everything was already dead before we arrived, including the Elders
The ghost mantas in vault aren't actually ghost mantas, they're the manifestation of the memories recorded inside the Vault in the memory cubes
The Krill are basically creatures that used to be made of light but got corrupted into dark creatures
The Elders can't just suck light out of stuff, a sky kid has to offer their own flame in order to restore the elders' powers
Tbh, I see the krill like wolves or bears. Just because a starving one may attack me to survive, doesn't mean I'm the bad guy for not wanting to be their lunch.

The krills were trying to attack the spirits in golden wasteland, they infested the land after the idea of factories didn’t work out
The krills maybe also wanted to take the light that still lied in wasteland
Krills might've been the byproduct of whatever was happening at the factories, since ancestors used light creatures to create resources
Ok, thank you for the info. This is the first time I got into the lore and I haven’t really researched much into it. I spent so much energy on my theory too.
Are the elders dead? I don't think that's confirmed anywhere.
After they were corrupted by the factories they might have caused chaos, so they were able to break free. Leaving everything and everyone else in the hands of the elder
They look like the spirits and they are in need of a source to live off of. Plus the temple statues we see them in look like more decorated tombstones, like the ones we see through out the game.
Tbh the elders look more like us than spirits. Spirits are blue, glowy, and see thru, while the elders seem solid and very not blue. More like a skid who's out of wing flaps but not light entirely. skids r baby elders theory when
I think that’s because we go into their realm in a sense. The white “portal” by the statues is like a guide to the spirt realm is what I’m thinking.
there's a thought that the Elders are trapped in pocket dimensions, which where their cutscenes take place, but are too weak from lack of light to escape or cut off from the Sky world due to something involving the Eden calamity or, again, lack of light.
The storm is sealed behind the Eden door isn't it? What if the elders aren't technically trapped, but their presence in the pocket dimension is what keeps the seal in place?
I like how after we ascend spirits they look like they are solid again because before you ascend them they have this weird space pattern in them
the spirits always have a starry pattern on them btw
I like to think that the red rhombus in eye of Eden is where the elders are trapped. Maybe by the krill?
The krill don't seem to have the kind of intelligence to pull that off. I think they're just corrupted animals.
Or the makers of the krill, if they exist.
Krills are just shrimps hungry for yummy light while we learn all these maneuvers to try not to become dinner
Krill just like hugs, they haven’t seen others for a long time.
I think the only elder trapped in the diamond is the prince/king/Eden Elder but that's a whole theory on it's own
King krill
all we know about the king is that 'they're not there to be saved anymore'.
Starry patterns on spirits. Note the patterns only appear on the animate spirits themselves, not spirit memories.
Yeah, I noticed the Performance Guide info card actively drew constellations all over them. Which, I know it's art and not in-game models but still
A couple more
We known that the spirts are corrupt before we light them up, then they show us their memories and give us emotes. So maybe after we give light to things they can travel between the spirt world and ours through the tombstones. That’s how we get their cloths and other items.
I don’t really see them as corrupt I just see them in a frozen-like state until we wake them up with our light
i think they like died and are covered in darkness similar to statues in eden
I was thinking they were corrupt because they have the same black dirtiness on them when we complete their quest that we have when we die in Eden.
I do think the frozen idea is still very capable of being true.
Can’t believe that fruitseeker is now the nickname for this. We love fruitseeker
I got the idea from you so thank you lol
The seeker of fruits.
I mean if they were corrupted they could as-well already be awake the idea I thought of was based off of a turtle, like turtles spirits go into this shell that protects them from corruption/danger therefore they are able to give light to us even though they were just woken up. If they were corrupted they wouldn’t give us light. I’m not saying there is something wrong with your opinion , no, the total opposite actually but I still wanted to give my opinion
This is so true. They just want hugs and affection all along and we are being so mean to them :(
Top ten creatures with the most tragic backstory😭😭😭
krills are so awesome and cool and neat in every way…
I mean look at them, they look so innocent🥺🥺
Hello lore chat what is the topic for today
Krill
Corruption and chaos

Ah yes lovely
Rallying Thrillseeker is gay and is a stand user
I know a friend and I had two theories for krill that we had come up with
One being that theyre a corrupted light creature
And another that theyre mechanical based on their light eye thing and the sounds they make when they move
Also that
I thought that was canon you mean its not??

It IS canon, always has been
I think everything is a theory until proven by the makers of the game. I think in the next season we’ll get more info about all of these questions.
Agreed but what is their stand
Their days of rainbow counterpart 🌈
...do you mean the beta version? because rainbow guide is literally just rallying thrillseeker
But the rainbow guide isn’t called Rallying Thrillseeker… a poor disguise indeed

Pspsp ash just gave us a cool fact abt Light Whisperers cape in beta chat
the forgetful storyteller is called "music shop guide" in harmony hall, their names are based on their jobs
we also got this from the harmony hall announcement, I can't tell if you're being serious or not but I've (unfortunately) had this argument before
Storyteller with two jobs, living the American Dream
Okay lorechat lorechat lorechat,
Hidden forest, right?
Skykids are hurt by the rain.
I heard in one theory that the rain is acid rain cause forest is a factory
BUT
why aren't mantas (creatures of light) and birds affected by this?
Maybe creatures of light have more pure light then us? Or maybe they are just memories of creepers
Also maybe the rain is clouds of acid coming from wasteland which used to be a factory then got abandoned when they saw it wasnt working. Because tge forest seems almost peaceful, although disturbed by what lies ahead
Isn't Golden wasteland the battlefield though?
the thought is that there is darkness in the rain. darkness as a force consumes light, so skykids aren't necessarily "hurt" by the rain but rather losing light by the darkness splashing onto them, although this is a slow process. aside from getting extinguished, skykids show no physical injury from the rain. light creatures may also be losing light to the rain but they don't show physical signs of pain and it is a slow process they can inhibit by going under cover or fly by other sources of light.
Maybe it was a factory and people didnt like the factory so it became a battlefield??? A war between whoever made the factory and the elders/spirits/light people or whatever?
yknow how skykids can mutually recharge off each other and mantas recharge us too? what if the mantas in Forest that swing by us are also recharging their light from us
Maybe acid is darkness. And extinguishes the light because it carries the memories, sadness, darkness, loss, and greif of wastleland and Eden
or conversely, darkness is acidic
That would make sense that they can recharge off of us, but I really like the idea that nobody else is left where we are, and that everything is really just a memory of what once was. And maybe krill and crabd hurt us because they are mechanical and left over before everyone died in war and crisis of eden
Darkness rain could be the in universe equivalent of acid rain if that makes sense. Like the darkness is the pollutant in the rain [This is hard to word because I have just spent 2 hours painting clouds]
Birds also aren’t too affected by it probably because they travel in flocks and can recharge each other. They might travel in flacks for that reason acrually, that would be pretty smart, especially since looking at them they don’t seem to have as much readily available light as us; probably would get drained easier
I think Mantas and other light creatures are definitely living things still, cause after the fall of the people, nature usually takes over these places.
Good comparision being temples in the americas and daylight prarie/ hidden forest i'd suppose.
Also a more simple explanation, water kills fire
extinguishes the light because it carries the memories, sadness, darkness, loss, and greif [sic]
yknow, there's a quip somewhere that the rain in Forest is caused by Forest Elder's sadness. from the Cave of Prophecies, we know Forest Elder has blue light powers, which controls water. then there's that trope that powers are tied to one's emotions. while I cannot extrapolate what Forest Elder is feeling exactly, I imagine that the civilization you were in charge in falling to extinction and the world being consumed by a force antithetical to your existence and being unable to stop it would be incredibly sad
Forest is mama nature
Maybe... but also whatever conflict took placw cpuld have anilated all nature? (Im kinda throwing wild ideas out here rn, but I know almost nothing about the lore so im taking what I like and throwing alot of maybes)
Oooohdhhh if you combine those and the rain being caused on purpose by the blue light it kinda sounds like they’re using it on purpose to consume and drown out their negative emotions… :(
She controls weather with her emotions like the slaying queen she is
Hey, could anyone here link me to some lore intro canon/generally accepted fanon documents or videos to get started with?
That would make sense, seeing as even in Forest Mamas scene she's visibly upset and diminished of hope. At that point in time she knew that it was hopeless, until she meets the child of light.
I'd say that the Elder, if she did cause the darkness rain isn't doing it intentionally, she's just consumed by sadness, which is a negative emotion and darkness is negative, if that makes sense.
Also when she snatches the fire from the child of light (quite rudely), it's probably cause she's desperate to make things even a little better.
no videos unfortunately. there are a couple Google Docs but they are outdated and their validity is contested, so take these witha. grain of salt:

Okay so but what are your thougts on how we even got to where we did? Sky kids kind of just appeared?
Megabird/the Light sent them. skykids are fallen stars
Megabird? Also falling stars are just meteors so what do you mean by that? Ik this is fantasy but im sorry could you seperate irl from not for me. Some elements are realistic and some arent
Do you guys think he’ll make a come back?
I wish.
it'd be interesting to see an eden prince/ king 'cameo'
maybe we could interact with him one day.
shhh, no beta talk
Megabird is the proverbial god of Sky. See: #lore-discussion-spoilers message
skykids are the meteors. in Sky, what stars literally are is debatable, but we know that stars can fall upon the world and manifest into sentient light beings. the Elders are said to be fallen stars – perhaps the mural in Harmony Hall depicts their descent. skykids Performance Act 2 suggests that falling stars can manifest into either children or light creatures.
Makes sense thanks!
I would guess after living in the forest for so long they have developed immunity or some kind of natural defense against the rain. Like some animals who might evolve to live in an ever changing environment.
I interpret the rain in the main realm as for the most part connected to Rain Elder's emotions. There is a way to force stop it (the broken bridge) but isn't a perma fix. If u go to another area let's say where grandma's table is and come back, it's raining again. Once Rain Elder gets our flame, the next area is sunny and without rain, possibly meaning they're happy now. (Forgive me for any mistakes I'm all over the place rn)
OMG
forest mama is blue diamond
is there a place where most lore/theories are summarized?

WES THE WHAT NOW
Time for lore disc to be infiltrated by the generals

There was actually something from an interview I saw a while ago featuring the world map of sky and I can’t seem to find it anywhere, was hoping lore chat would have it
@trim mural
this is it, thank you
guys does anyone have some pics of the two shields at gw
Sorry for the late reply and ping, but aren't the light creatures travelling to the next realms and orbit?
No it’s all good, and yes I would think. Mantas and birds seem to be migrating towards accession, but maybe they have been on this migration root before and have still built up the immunity for their stay in the hidden forest.
You know how yesterday we were talking about those eggs in forest. Just now a idea came into my head.
Also the drawing on this egg was painted by ancestors probably, even tho its just one egg that got painted
We know that ancestors used the Light of creatures that they offered to them. But at some point they would even go as far as to put those light creatures like butterflies into urns and bring them into forest to get their light extracted there.
Someone from TGC answerd a question like this: Light creatures manifest out of the Light itself, wich basically means there are no Eggs.
So what if the Ancestors tried to get the light a other way since light creatures didnt want to give up so much light. They where trying yo make artificcial light creatures. So thats how the eggs are came to be
I know very far streched, but it does seem interesting that way

Does chill sunbather confirm masks are removable?
More than just the ‘mask less’ face we can get
Considering sanctuary guide literally returns it to them in their memory?
They don’t seem to concerned about it either so I wonder if masks are mainly a cosmetic thing or if there is some more important meaning to the ancestors
Um...already a thing..
Yeah. That’s why I mentioned besides the ‘maskless’ expression
It’s rare we see ancestors without masks if they have them
Sky kids mimic sounds and what we see in the spirit memories so of course they’d mimic masks too if they don’t need them
Especially if sky kids are different than the ancestors because of our connection to the light
Some people theorize the masks being the ancestors faces or being attached
Assembly has baffle botanist with their emote pulling on the mask.
It looks like moving or taking off a mask is not a major issue, though the mask does play an important role to their profession.
I know the animal and performers one
Is there more connections?
Spirits masks tend to have some motifs or styles that relate to their work.
One example is the boat mask resembling that of the Dawn Elder's, implying spirits with this boat detail are likely sailors. Same goes to masks with spikes or coverings when it comes to combat and the Wasteland elder; or diamonds related to the Dorest Elder.
I see in general that bird mask = a performer. But I wonder if the breed of bird tells anything either
Thinking out loud about the bearhugging hermit.
Understanding that we call him yeti most of the time. Even with going by a polar bear as an inspiration for the character; I like to think of him being a lumberjack.
Granted there are no trees in sight of Valley, but still like the image of the fella carrying up lumber to houses like a great jolly delivery guy. ❤️
(note that I am going with interpretations here, since this is not a theory, but a headcanon or fanon thought).
It maybe not related but i read somewhere that mama belonging love to gossip with yeti in their ts hint
I see yeti as your stereotypical “just a guy”
I’m not quite sure what it means but it invoked such a feeling of certainty it’s how I feel about yeti
Like- no one knows who they are. Everyone has seen them but no one can give you a finite answer about them
Mention yeti to anyone and they’ll brighten up and go “oh yeah, them! they’re pretty cool”
Ask for details and they’ll start to respond before realizing they actually don’t know much about them
There isn’t that much clarification on what or who the yeti is
Do you think spirits watch us do specific quests like sit on a bench with a stranger and wonder what on earth we’re doing screaming at a bench
I would like to see how it would feel like to be a spirit. Like watch players run around holding hands and getting hit by a krill
Hello lore chat, I would just wanna ask this here (idk if its a lore question)
Is the summer bunny canon? Its not a light creature, but it isn't a dark creature?
Seems like mochi to me. Food or a plushie instead of living
summer bunny? You mean the mochi bunny accesory?
I would say it is.
imagine if in headpat's relive, pleaful was with them because they wanted to bring them to the rest of the belonging family to reunite everyone but headpat was like "no...i'm happy right where i am." so they went out into the underground cavern's mountain playing their uke, dying alone but happy
In my mind, cosmetics are definitely canon, excluding the ones you get from the ||office||. It seems like neither: it’s probably a neutral creature, considering that it doesn’t really interact with the world.
What’s more interesting is Oreo’s canonicity. It seems to be an easter egg, but the things you do to summon it seem to be perfectly canon and explainable within the Sky world. Oreo is only summoned once 8 people gather around, which probably means it’s attracted to light in some way. So, it could be a peaceful dark creature?
Oreo is black and white, so maybe they're both a light and dark creature?
Oreo is the eden elder
No you fool, it’s hatsune miku!
Oreo will find you for this blasphemy
I may be dumb but I just Chibi fell into the tall pillar with the winged light at top in the Abyss area, and it turns out the entire interior is modeled and has collisions
I did speculate there was going to be some kind of event with that tower and the unused area reinforced that
during abyss beta, an earlier version of quest 4 had you activate a power diamond-powered platform that took you through the tower and all the way up to the winged light. It might've been the only way to get in there (without taking advantage of bugs) for a while, I'd need to check
Oh sweet! In live, I guess it was reworked and the dev's eventually added light shrooms so that it would be easier to get to the winged light
mhm! A lot of the places to recharge your light (light blooms, those butterflies by commodore's tower) were added pretty late in testing when tgc realized it was really hard to get to a lot of places in the season
It's pretty cool to see that the areas are still there and have collisions
tgc has a habit of not removing stuff from the game, I wouldn't be too surprised if there was something left of the old quest 4 area still in the game somewhere
Same, or even random objects they misplaced or rooms they accidentally created like in Dawn
found some old quest 4 footage, if anyones interested
any theories regarding the lore behind flight's qg, spirits, seasonal area and quests?
(i recall ashen said that the wind paths' similarity to daylight prairie is intentional. then someone theorized that you reach hidden forest, a gloomy area, but right before you reach the dark rain you take a turn and end up in an area that's very reminiscent of daylight prairie (the childhood))
oo i think i have a textwall for this somewhere
The heights of the realms represent the emotional highs/lows of the stages of life. For example, you go down from forest social space to reach the realm proper. forest weather is overbearing and oppressive, and the people there are filled with emotion, much of it being negative.
For the Wind Paths, the entrance is right at the beginning of forest, and you go up to reach it, going in a different direction and avoiding the emotional low of forest.
The Flight spirits are filled with passion. Talented Builder, Lively Navigator, Tinkering Chimesmith. These names all give a sense that these spirits are filled with life and following their dreams. Light Whisperer follows the call spirit naming patterns, but has a close connection with light creatures, and cares deeply for them, caring for young and injured creatures.
The Flight Guide is confirmed to be the former apprentice of Prairie Elder. Daylight Prairie is the realm representing childhood, filled with excitement and discovery and laughter. Flight guide guided the season spirits to the islands, and they have “a better vision of a more harmonious life.”
The Wind Paths connect hard-to-reach areas throughout the realms, in every realm. That last bit is important. Previously, you could only travel between realms on foot by going through the realm temples, and once you exit a realm temple, you can’t re-enter. the game only lets players move in a direction that follows the sun. but the Wind Paths change that. Now, spirits from different realms, different times of day, and different stages of life can connect with one another through the tunnels.
Overall I think flight is about passion. How a passion can get you through a difficult stage in life. How a passion can connect people across the world of all ages. Once you complete the final quest, the area flavor text changes to “Chimes guide creatures to clear passage through the realms.” The things you care about can help you navigate through life.

NO CUS
I MADE A JOKE ABT HATSUNE MIKU TS AND IT SPIRALED INTO THIS 😭
do you think the king knows chris pratt
BAHHAHABABAHELP maybe
gasp hatune miku?!
i see
thank you!
would you happen to know/think of what flight guide did as an apprentice for the prairie elder? also how and why did they leave?
If I had to guess, they probably learned about light creatures, migration paths, chimes, maybe even green light, just a bunch of the basic things that are wrapped up in the themes of prairie. My guess for why they left is just that they had learned all they needed to know and they had found a calling that led them and the rest of the flight spirits to the wind paths
*fruitseeker
Hellooo, I’m making an archive of all spirit’s spoken words, and the earliest I can find is the little prince spirits and the days of love website update. Can anyone tell me if there are earlier occurrences of spirits talking?
Ash said that they’re just a normal spirit with realllly cozy clothes 🤣
TLP spirits are the exception. spirits don't talk in game. unless you are considering instances outside of the game like in patch notes and news updates
Yeah I mean that too! Again, earliest non-game instance I can find is in the news update for the recent days of love.
every Performance spirit speaks at least once in the news post for Harmony Hall: https://www.thatskygame.com/news/opening-for-all-musicians-harmony-hall
yeah I got those ones down, thank you ><
I don’t assume they started giving the spirits lines until recently? I just can’t seem to find any in updates with spirit lines before February lol
yea, afaik the Days of Love news post seems to be the earliest news post where spirits had direct dialogue and weren't relayed to the reader secondhand
Ahh I see, well thank you for the confirmation! Sorry if this is excessive I just take lore from everything I can get 🤣 like I see these silly news updates and I’m like
spirits…. Speech patterns?????
some might call it cheesy, but I like the angle they've been going in letting the spirits speak for themselves. it shows them as dynamic characters rather than just mannequins for cosmetics. puts life in them, yknow
As an ex band kid I must say that harmony hall is fabulous and really fleshes out the spirits of this season and provides more interactions outside of memories
YES! And how they’ve given them more opportunities to just walk around and interact with skykids and each other.. I couldn’t help but make a video captioning the things the guide and stagehand must have been saying to one another
unfortunately I can’t share it here because of the strong language 💀
Off topic should I do trials or Eden I don't like either
Well, would you rather have winged light or ascended candles?
I will do Eden eventually this week but I just finished a wl run from last time
I mean if it were me I would do eden. But I use cheats for both, so I can’t say for sure..
performance guide and stagehand are an amazing pair in the harmony hall bahaha
Big agree
Big brain moment. So the krill are canon "dark dragons" . . . . Are the dragon statues we see in the trials and prophecy cave "pre corrupted" krill?
Dragon statues?
What do you call the statues that start and end the trials? You light them in the room for each trial and at the end of them you light another identical one. I always thought they were dragons
they match the masks of the prophets, so in order theyre a turtle, a spider, a bat, and a lion
spade beat me to it, but as they said those are statues of the prophet spirits - for example, earth trial has the spider mask of the earth prophet
Credit to Spade for this compilation.
From left to right: a turtle(?), a spider, a bat, a lion.
here’s another compilation. also, pay attention to the symmetry of the masks in the image Alasdair sent
I've seen those statues how many times and not once have I noticed they were different let alone not dragons. I am still president of the trial hate club
Valid
I'll stick to Eden theories and show myself out thank you all for your patience 😂
Hi all, I have a question, what is this supposed to be? ||Eden||? The sky realm?
This is part of orbit and there is no need to add spoilers to anything unless it's from beta:). But I don't remember exactly what we call those buildings
Beta spoilers are not permitted here at all
That explains why the tower had an interior, thanks Spade.
Ohhh :0 but like just the broken up part of the storm we flew threw in orbit?
The bottom half resembles a cape (or suggests a cape by its shape).
And the top half is the top of the eden castle.
Looking closely, you can see a winged light halo hidden behind the rocks.
I like to think this is the game's way to implying that the king, winged light and skykids are aconnected, since these symbols are groupe d together like that.
Ohhhhhhh, neato! The symbolism is just

I AM IMPEACHING YOU
That's the Eden castle, since the very beginning of the game, you seem to always be trying to reach it and the game constantly zooms on it and focused on it as if telling you that's your objective/final destination
But then after the post-Eden flight, you just fly past it like it's not important.
The castle never mattered, it was never your final destination, you were always meant to aim for something greater, that castle is just a mere remnant of the past mistakes of the ancestors, nothing more.
That's my personal interpretation of it, at least.
that's a really lovely interpretation and one i've never heard before
Really? I'm sure I've shared this interpretation before... But yeah, this is how I always felt about the Eden castle, ever since I went to Eden for the first time, way before I found about Skycord and lorechat, that's just how it felt to me that first time I saw it and it's how it still feels every time. It's probably the single part of the game that stuck out to me the most
i will be adopting this because i love it
I feel honored
what do you see as the "greater goal"? saving your friends (the statues)? saving the spirits? facing your fears? something else?
Aww, that does make sense. Sky is literally
”the journey was the friends we made along the way”
Which is a good tgc pun if you think about it
For me it was always about saving both the statues and the spirits, restoring the elders and interacting with the light creatures, admiring the good that the ancestors achieved and learning from the mistakes they made so that the future children don't repeat those same mistakes
But above all else, the greatest goal of all is moving forward no matter what. It's accepting that the old age is gone and we now have to make a great effort to create a better tomorrow, no matter how hard and grim everything may look today.
There is no "good old times", good is the future we should be fighting for.
aww wow that is wonderful
I’m my opinion, the future has already been fought over. This is the perfect version of the Sky world, a complete balance between dark and light. The world of Sky doesn’t change at all because nothing needs to change
Counterpoint: there are dead people trapped by darkness everywhere who are unable to escape without our help, and also the Eden beam and Diamond are both in a constant state of being dangerously close to being fully corrupted and on the verge of both killing us all and trapping us in darkness as well. Damage control being needed in Sky is a bit of an understatement
YEAH I LOVE IT A LOT TOO. I really like finding out their personalities and everything, plus they’re very fun to watch :-) it makes me very happy.
i think the greater goal would be to help the old generation move on, there's this whole thing about returning the fallen (spirits and whatever is in stormlock) back to the stars with the help of the elders for some after all.
Throughout the last few maps of the game, we see things crumbling to be spun around in a seemingly endless storm, we feel that grief over what once was but we need to move on as well. Save the victims of the past as they leave behind their world; its beauties, its scars, the structures they built, for us to inherit and reuse or repurpose.
In a far future where there are none left to save, maybe the ancestors will give us the reins of the world as they truly move on, once sky kids are aquainted enough with the kingdom's ruins. Something something getting out of the cycle of Samsarah in indian beliefs requiring you to let go of physical things.
Exactly: With our help, we can cause them to be un-trapped. The Eden Storm seems to be stable/receding; and it doesn’t seem to affect us in our current situation.
The Sky world is unbalanced without us, but we have made it better by stabilizing it
doesn’t seem to affect us
Besides Eden and Wasteland being a hellscape, it seems to be spewing darkness throughout the world
I mean I never thought of it like that. The storm doesn't really directly affect anything outside of Eden. Toxic sludge is more of an issue in the other realms
The storm doesn't pose a direct danger on the sky kids outside of Eden. We only see what the big storm looks like there and the dark creatures are only the aftermath. It does seem that the storm once spread throughout the land then retreated
I will not say anything
In conclusion, sky seems to be in balance but we are still trying to tip it back in favor of how it used to be
While you’re here, explain your trial hate now /hj (remember that I’m only half joking)
It sucks and air trial made me rage quit a for a whole year. And they keep the same physics as if we still have capes but we don't so it makes it frustrating
git gud /j
Oh, so it’s just a difficulty problem
no design complains or anything
Although what I will say is that darkness and corruption in its modern form in Sky seems much more like a disease than something natural. There’s probably some type of balance we can reach with it, but as of now, it’s like something is wrong with it — there aren’t naturally dark creatures (anymore? maybe they were here once.); light creatures get corrupted and parasitized. There are obvious remnants of a light filled land under most of the darkness filled spaces. I would liken it to almost like an invasive species maybe?? Or that darkness does have a “natural” presence in Sky’s ecosystem, but something changed it to become aggressive
My point is that something is wrong. The balance is off from what it is naturally. The world isn’t supposed to be like this
But then the physics problem somehow made it more broken in your favor so yeah coughvelacough I did get good but it still sucks
starlings irl aren't bad themselves, in fact they are part of the ecosystem where they are from
but the moment we introduced them in america, they became the bane of native species
maybe darkness is like starlings
Dark creatures might have had their place when light had more power. Maybe the dark creatures didn't get more powerful but the light got weaker
The light most definitely didn’t get weaker, especially because there’s us
But the light creatures don't have any way to fight back against dark unless we're talking about honking crab
💀
Skykids can burn dark plants, tbh
I just realized it wouldn't make a whole lot of sense for the krill and crabs to be where there are since there aren't any light creatures for them to "eat". You think there would be more in prairie where the "food source*" is
It’s the same reason why there isn’t that much bears in cities. Sure, there’s lots of good food there, but there’s a lot of factors keeping them away. It seems as if Krills and Crabs thrive in darkness, so Prairie isn’t the best spot
Valid
Have crabs ate light creatures-
I’m losing it at the level of on brandness for you thst this messahe is but yeah. This is what I am thinking to some extent. The only apparent thing a lot of dark creatures would face resistance with is sunlight in certain areas [hence why they’re not in prairie] and getting hunted/driven off by ancestors. For krills especially, the second one is less of an issue considering how massive and deadly they are. Once wasteland got cloudy for whatever reason, it could’ve been easy
Someone, I’m like 80% sure it was alasdair, was talking about how they thought the cyclone over wasteland was caused by cyan light in order to contain the war and corruption in that area. I’m imagining it like: numerous factories pollute the land and it spreads; massive riot starts over the pollution; entire realm is shut off; the clouds used to shut it off block out the sunlight and make it a perfect environment for invasive dark creatures
before it got confirmed, there was a joke theory that all ancestors were like thst naturally but everyone else shaved… I will never be able to forget that possibility. It haunts me
body goals tho, i want to be a tall hermit too
Yeti didn’t get sponsored by Dollar Shave Club
Darkness and light are the faces of the same coin, light can’t exist without darkness and darkness can’t exist without light and since we are like a variation of light creatures, krills maybe are the same, maybe there is some where a megakrill god
Btw I wanna hear some cool theories about what are wings lights, I like to think they are like prince footprints or maybe the kids who die during the storm but
Wasn’t me but I have heard that theory — that Sunset used their cyan light to create the cyclone over Wasteland to funnel and keep darkness out into the lowlands that was once Golden Valley. Whether Dusk agreed with this is not is unverifiable since it would only protect the mountaintops
Here’s my take on winged light:
I’ve been favoring the idea that winged light are the imprints of skykids, specifically a mark where many of them have been, hence why they appear in the same places (tho that may be gameplay mechanic, but I like to think in-universe they also appear elsewhere less often) like a well-treaded path in the woods made by many footprints walking the same way.
Addendum
Since winged light are imprints they are merely the impression of skykids, not skykids converted into something else but something their presence has left behind. One cannot become winged light, but one or more skykids do make them by just existing in the world in addition to some other factor.
I just think of winged light as another type of star (that’s why they are also called star). We are stars that were sent by mega bird to give light, my point is, winged light could have been also sent by mega bird but with a different purpose. Maybe their purpose is to help us sky kids in our journey by giving us the ability to fly
Again it’s just a theory I have soo
I’m not entirely sure what WL are tbh. My best guess would be like the skykid version of spirit memories, considering we take them back to the husks in orbit, which is a direct parallel to how we guide spirits. Of course, that’s assuming that each WL belongs to a husk which might not be true given number reasons, but I have always assumed it was.. I can’t remember why? Maybe splash text or something
Silence, bot
- angry mutter* that gosh diddly darn Shakespeare fan club……
Oh you wanna go??
skybot has chosen the opposite of peace today, huh
i think even by the standards of wisdom back in the day, that stunt was disastrously stupid
It was dumb
bobbit.
not the reply
(Ping off) Random but when i read this I immediately thought of takins…. Cus A) apparently theyre called gnu goats sometimes B) they’re the national animal of Bhutan, but turns out its a diff gnu
this is basically what i considered winged light to be
https://twitter.com/NeroCLDius/status/1510012853427781637?s=20&t=k8KzAnam6Q653u086ZUnaQ
energy, light without a body or a mind, it just stands there and later sky kids come along to consume it
i think it may have came as a gift from mega bird to help us. maybe there was an entity with the energy who reached eden and couldn't ascend, so their petrified body got to eden and their wl traveled to a random spot in a realm. maybe the spot wasn't entirely random. but say many skids couldn't ascend in eden, so their bodies got left behind as well while the winged energy had gone elsewhere
i notice many holes in this. megabird is a more reasonable explanation
this is a weird question but do you think spirits can see WL
I have no idea, but I think they would
Also nice PFP!
thank you I am enjoying dog mode
Dog mode fghjfsg
Maybe they could even touch them? The wl in the assembly basement is just a bit too perfectly placed to have just popped up there
Baidbeidwbidebdid how have I not seen that it literally shows vault in the mountain I was right!!!
Along the thought that winged light are imprints of skykids where they manifest with the presence of skykids, then it makes sense for one to pop up in the Treehouse. Once the basement becomes a wellknown spot for winged light to show up, more skykids go to there, allowing winged light to re-manifest over and over again
So how would the wl show up in the first place?
A skid went down there because that's what skids do and went 'oh cool, there's nothing here'
Ok hold on is that really the king in the cave paintings or are we driving ourselves crazy (not in my pictures from above)
it is yeah. it is the same as our symbol but without WL
I saw fan art of a beta spoiler earlier and I had to be nosey and look in beta chat to see more cool things out of context because I thought we were getting one thing but it doesn't look like it but still I'm just like hmmmmmmmm interesting
Can they not make concept are canon then uncanon I am down a rabbit hole right now please ignore me and my tinfoil hat
when the Treehouse was first discovered, a lot of skykids were there, enough that it tipped the scales for the first winged light to manifest there
One more lore question: What is the difference between red crystal (or Eden crystals) and blue crystals (like diamonds and one of the "scrapped" crystals from Eden)
Corrupted vs not? Or maybe just two different materials
maybe level of corruption? blue diamonds seem to be linked to corruption too, though, with those petrified skykids before pnr
these guys
I thought I was crazy I didn't know what those were!!!!
here's how I read it:
Darkstone – blue(?) unrefined stone mined from the ground.Refined Darkstone – darkstone shaped into octahedrons but not yet the finish product thus cannot absorb and use light.
Power Diamonds/Artificial Stars – the finish product, the batteries of the Sky kingdom that powers technology, has to be given light to be activated, changes color during usage.
Corrupted Darkstone – the red crystals seen in Eden that actively suck out light.
OH WAIT THEY ARE STILL IN EDEN??? DIDN'T NOTICE THAT BECAUSE THAT STATUE KEEPS ON GETTING HIT BY ROCKS
ok i have no idea what the filter is getting me for. if you go to pnr, go home, and use the return shrine, you can look at the statues that break without them breaking
Those statues break? I've only seen them intact
not the crystal ones, those stay intact. there's a couple on the final couple steps that get hit by rocks
Also don't worry about the filter thing I had some random picture of me in valley and refused to let me send it
these are the statues that break

Do these fish have white stomach or is it just the water?
Probs the water lemme check
Nvm
So they do have white tummies?
It'd make sense, considering these same fish are found outside the Prairie Temple, and the meditation quest for that area calls it a koi pond. They're koi fish
The other ones are all orange
Then why are these fishies special
Idk
There are so many rampant beta spoilers in normal chats today omg
Today's fairytell:
LGBTQ.... WARRIORS
I was sitting on top os the sanctuary islands and suddenly a big rupturing noise a dark creature came out of geyser and threatens the peace of the world. The creature was so terrifying that even the all bumping crabs ran scattering. But then there was music trumpets guitar drums. And a few background explosions. Voila colourfull skykids wearing wierd masks giving hopefull feeling. They all did their killer beam and then boom. Yay, the creature is down.
Somewhere in the dark realm" damn that colourful rangekids. My next monster will destroy you to dust "evil laughter
And then the sunset was very beautiful like a sunset should be.
can someone please explain the prophecy murals to me? from what I can see is king or the player doing the trials and (what looks like) climbing eden
This is just an observastion of the murals, which may follow along or differ from theorist's analysis of the murals.
The murals told about a child of light complete the trails where other ancestors have not.
The priests and elders took notice as the glowing figure went up a mountain/hill and either created, or found a beam that connected the ground to the Heavens. Where the kingdoms of sky flourished.
Looking through the murals as the final cutscene shows it, here is an interpretation as follows:
🔹 The ancestors acknowledged/greeted/bid fair well to the glowing child of light as they start their journey with taking on the trials.
🔹 The glowing figure completed each trial while other ancestors have fallen. The figure in turn gain the blessing that each trail held. With these 4 elements, the figure's light grew brighter, or the figure got stronger, or the figure was triumphant in the trials (or a combination of these possible outcomes).
🔹 It looked like the figure gave the elements to the kingdoms of Sky. Where each elder that took up the element used it in their own ways.
Day elder got earth, forest got water, valley got air and wasteland got fire. the glowing figure then climbed the mountain and either discovered, or created the beam of light that reaches out from the ground to the Heavens.
🔹 Finally, the last mural shows all of the kingdoms, and the mountain became Vault, and above it is the glowing figure with a halo around their head. A glowing head detail like this in murals may imply the King/Sky Prince. Since the figure is in the same place that Eden would be. This also present the possibility of the figure becoming an elder, the elder of Eden. Not to mention the aura coming off the figure is very similar to the 4 pointed star symbol associated with winged light and the light flare coming from Eden.
Here is a video this person kindly made on Youtube.
They have included notes of their thoughts as well.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8EB4KIMWNf0
thanks sm!!!
Fun fact:
The flare of light we see coming from Winged Light, and the top of Eden is a phenomena (something that can happen) in real life.
It is called a Sun dog.
It is a type of halo that can happen when the sun's light hits the ice crystals in the air. Almost like a light going through a prism, or a light going through water such as rain that creates a rainbow effect.
A sun dog is though uncommon since the conditions have to be just right.
How it could apply to sky could possibly tie into its mysterious history.
Lorewise, this may help link winged light to the sun, and with the sun being a star.
In the past, winged light used to be called Stars in the game.
For those who want to read something interesting about stars, feel free to have a look at this.
While I could spend 15 min typing out something similar, I figure to share the link instead.
These are just more fun facts about stars and what they symbolise.
Enjoy, Sky Lore Enthusiasts
https://symbolismandmetaphor.com/star-symbolism/#:~:text=A 4-pointed star is,they are worshiped as gods.
well, we could link megabird to both winged lights (megabird is made of stars, aka winged lights old name) and the egyptian god ra (Ra has a bird head, Megabird is a bird)
Interesting, I wrote about a comparison between the Egyptian mythos and a theory of Sky's gods/creators being hypothetically the megabird and the King.
do u still have it? and if so, can you show me?
I do, just looked it up:
#lore-discussion-spoilers message
If the reading is a bit much, you can use the 'speak message' feature on discord, if you are on PC.
thanks
quick correction, Osiris was not the sun of Ra, but the Great grandson of Ra
and I do found a correlation with the biblical garden of Eden, humanity ruined themselves there, in the bible it's the tree, in Sky it's industrialization
ah, noted and thanks.
Ur welcome
Also, you have a point there with Eden.
I did not think ahead at the time of writing.
oh
what exactly is megabird? do we see it in game? i see lore chat talk about it a lot but i dont know much about it ^^
@thin mist
Megabird is what we see above head in Orbit and during the end credits, which seems to be an entity according to concept art (whence it got its name) !
It's a pretty vague character, seems to be a personification or embodiment of the Light (name seen when the return shrine leads you to Orbit, "the Light calls" and "return to the Light") you see throughout the game.
A lot of people here kinda see it as the god of Sky.
ohhh thats so cool!! ty!!! =]
What do yall think skykids would eat?
I think it would be cool if eating dark plants was like a delicacy, similar to pufferfish in the way that you would have to prepare it insanely perfectly to be able to eat it
Nothing
I’d imagine they wouldn’t need to eat, but they could anyways. They are probably strict vegetarians and wouldn’t eat light creatures at all. Their most consumed food is most likely wax.
Dark plants are like poison to Skykids, aren’t they? I could imagine a “3 AM DARKNESS PLANTS CHALLENGE (GONE WRONG)”
True XD
LMAO
Amazing! All it needs is a red circle
Candlelight?
Btw, long time no see
i've been really interested in doorways lately, anywhere I see that same general candle shape
i have a theory that the candle symbolizes connection, since we give candles to friends and spirits to develop our friendship with them.
I find it interesting how the king seems to show up inside of the candle-shaped doorways in some locations.
Oh that's cool ! I always saw them as being pot-shaped since pots are pretty important for the transportation of light offerings !
that too!!!
Some of them look like a grave in Sky
you right...
Hello, valley! And yes, I’d imagine they’d eat candlelight, but it doesn’t provide any nutrients for them. Skykids just eat it for fun
Mantas, jellyfish
We eat anything but fishe, we eat flowers, woods, but fishe. Fishe is a holly being, i mean look at em, they’re gold
guys... Bernard is no longer Bernard... SHE CAME OUT WOO!!! SHE'S NOW BELLE!!
I can't type, but their bodies produce white candles by forging candle light
my Sky Child has 4 Manta rays as pets
A headcanon of mine is that Candelight or Wax is seen as a type of physical energy for Skykids-
But its different from the surges of Light and Flame you get from Light Creatures and other Sky Children
Hi Lore chat
Hello Mia!
What new bits of lore have accumulated
Enchantment lore, winged light, the current state of the Sky world, and PROPHECY LORE THAT I MISSED
Seems I missed a lot
Any lore from the devs?
Same here
Not yet!
Also, what's this about Prophecy lore?
It is here @hushed steeple
Oooo
It's also hinted in the first (or second?) Performance quest that the prince/king/whomever you believe to be the original Sky citizen was the first to complete all the trials
Also it's kind of poetic if we ourselves were the King. It's like we're punished to live through Sky over and over in a way that says, "Witness the damage you've caused"
And we've lost our memories of our past actions so we don't know what we did, we just have all these clues and the devastation to work with
That sounds needlessly cruel
Angst is fun sometimes
That’s not even proper angst as a genre. It’s literally just being needlessly cruel, especially since under this line of thought the king doesn’t remember why they’re being punished, and falls into the trope of making the king out to be a scrapegoat.
We don’t know Megabird’s motivations, true, but what says They’re an absolutist god who’s levie such a magnamious punishment on one person in revenge or some sick sense of justice? What if They’re loving and forgiving?
On top of that, we don’t even know the king’s motivations, they involvement in the Eden calamity, or what they were as a person. What if they didn’t their damnest to stop the fall of the kingdom out of a similar love for their people and the Light, but was too late when they snapped to their senses?
Us being the King is a good theory, but “punishment” is not a good reason for it
Gods in stories do needlessly cruel things as punishments all the time. If Megabird is that kind of god, then it's a perfectly fine reason. That said, I just don't like the interpretation that the king was just evil. It's boring.
'No one was truly evil and it was all just an accident that no one deserved' is endlessly more tragic to me.
the gods in those stories reflect the reality of humanity. they’re personifications of phenomena, so they have some of the same flaws that people do. Megabird is very clearly not connected to the ancestors and is made of pure light. I’m usually hesitant to personify Megabird at all, but needlessly cruel doesn’t fit them
Yeah, sky is a hopeful game. A god like that doesn't seem to fit.
Sky players will see wierd spaghetti in the sky and accuse it of neglect
It's true
i mean... they did plop a bunch of children down into a broken world and say "fix it" with little further direction
But that's assuming they did that at all. For all we know the plea for help comes from the elders/ancestors and the skids are on a big side quest
Well, I mean...
That's basically what the Christian God did in the Old Testament too, right?
Adam was punished for a sin Eve committed and up until now we supposedly bear the burden of the original sin
And Sky is rife with biblical references
Like, the skids being on a side quest and their true goal is just to like, exist and be the new population would explain why they spend a lot of time screwing around and befriending each other between helping the spirits. They are doing their main quest of 'vibe'
I've heard versions of the story where Eve convinced Adam to also eat the fruit, so in that version they technically both sinned.
The old gives way to the new. If your ancestors leave you a mess, you end up having to clean it up even if it's not your 'job'
Megabird: tosses skids into Dawn
Megabird: vibe.
Ancestors: HELP US CHILDREN
Skids: ok
Megabird:
Megabird: ok
The versions may differ, sure
But we do still bear that mark (apparently)
I'm not making my beliefs known, this is what I was taught
Nah, I grew up in a culturally Christian place, I get it.
I usually prefer to just. let the King stay dead. their story is incomplete, the world is left filled with loose ends, but they’re gone. And we exist, not to tie up those loose ends necessarily, but we end up trying anyways
I didn't
I was taught in a religious school at one point
Fun fact: there are too many a plethora of Christian sects with differing interpretations of the Bible
Is this the megabirds head or am i just tired
No one can agree on anything
Yes I'd assume that's the head
Hate to say it, but you have a point

...ah, well. I don't claim to be an expert. Just trying to connect two things. I sowwy
Also, I'm sleepy
I finished preparing for my finals today (finals are from Thursday)
So I shall rest now
Good night
I don't think anyone was trying to get on your case. We kinda bounce off each other here
Wait but where did we get the photo of megabird from? Do we see them in game?
Yes, it's in the credits
The last 6ish seconds in the credits
Also Orbit’s sky for a not-yellow version, and the background in the credits is also not-yellow Megabird
So does the megabird just send all those birds to kind of guide as throughout our journey to support us? I think that's pretty sweet, like supporting your children when they're doing something they want to
I get that
Just accounting for a mistake if I made any
Religion is a sensitive topic for a lot of people
as someone who grew up in a sect that gave a lot of reasons to fear God, I'd rather have a god that truly loved and forgave their peoples, who'd do anything to save them that didn't violate their selfhoods, who didn't demand respect and wouldn't get angry if their people didn't worship them. a god one could go to to be consoled, for advice, for help, for love when one feels unloveable.
which guides how I interpret Megabird. a deity manifested from the unity of the Light, composed of every single being of light that had once lived in the world, who owes it existence to the Light, why not would Megabird love every individual? Megabird aware of every thought, desire, pain, and sensation beings of light had had, who is composed of all their experiences, why would Megabird hate itself and the people who made it? if anything, this Megabird would want to ensure every being of light could return to it, to feel safe and whole within the Light, which is why Megabird sent the skykids. sure, Megabird misses the skykids, but the skykids are a part of the light cycle to and return to the Light, which is why Megabird is comfortable letting them be reborn.
a vengeful Megabird damning beings of light seems antithetical to the game itself.
There’s also the Isle Elder cutscene. There, we use our light to assist the Isle Elder in summoning birds
I think it was Isle elder who sent the birbs?
Ohh, okay
my bad
I agree. You can have your angst, but I doubt Megabird, this extremely powerful entity, would be vengeful at anyone. A more important question is if the Ancestors were creations of the Megabird?
I mean, I don't really know how deeply I was going into the "megabird" part of it all when I suggested that we were the King. I just wondered what it would imply that we were witnessing the destruction we caused, without knowing why we caused it.
...which I can see why that would be cruel.
It could also be that the King is punishing themselves? In their final moments, they snapped back to their senses and decided, "You know what? I'm gonna come back and try to fix this."
...or they were against the wrongness to begin with but got too deep into it that there was no end to it?
You can have angst with an all-loving Megabird. Think of the beings of light who can’t return to the Light — perhaps the king who “is not around to be saved anymore.” Or skykids who perished or were corrupted before Eden. Or skykids who refuse to go to Eden thus never reunite with the Light.
I like to think that Megabird’s form used to have many more stars within it, but that some stars fell and created the ancestors, and creatures of the land, as well as everything in it, from their stars. That is, I headcanon that everything is, was, and will be a star except for the six things that are not.
The skykids also become stars if the players quit, and the spirits that we save also turn into stars in Orbit, but they reveal their spirit forms for a while when we visit Orbit to say hello and give us some wax and wingbuffs
Admittedly, it also is a pretty of the rails concept for a game about second chances. Also in the early concepts (which im not sure counts but i'll put it out anyways) we were supposed to save the king weren't we, even if though the lore has probably changed, it probably wouldnt go to that much of an extent, right?
In sky lore, when we play through the story are we all alone with spirits and elders or did megabird just send a bunch of sky kids and go “fix it all children”. I like to think it’s just us all alone but I know it’s technically not (eden being an example maybe?)
sky is about the journey of a community working together to save a fallen kingdom. the focus isn’t on the individual, but instead the community, the bonds between individuals, and connections to all through the Light
Concept art used to be very telling to the lore of the game, since it gave explanations. However, since the concept art were made/released, to the current game, a lot has changed.
In short, the concept art would be more relevant to the game, Light Awaits. But the current game (Children of the Light) has deviated from what the old version was working towards. Both in regards to lore and the gameplay (since the King would have been in the game, but has since then never made an appearance).
Unless the king is the glowing child that helps us in the Eden void
So, what is this?
It looks like the Ancestors at a ceremony or event. I think it shows the birth of the Skykids or Valley Elders.
Heres a common depiction
one thought is that it's depicting the Elders descending to the world – there's six shooting stars, one is hidden behind the left curtain
Wasn't there an event where the stars fell? Maybe that's it?
Empty shelves, perhaps there will be unreleased instruments here someday
Put the Ocarina there, cowards
Nintendo prob said no
Stagehand uses it when we jam together though
Also will not forgive the TGC dev who knew blokes in lorechat wild be scrutinizing the writing and went “lol nope just empty labels.”
the spaghetti deserves it
Stagehand got annoyed I kept on trying to climb up to read these, sorry 😔
Does anyone else have director lock their gaze onto you like they’re daring you to steal something?
Or do they just know I’m going to try and target me specifically?
Speaking of that how big of a problem do you think theft is for them?
What’s the punishment for the crime?
Does sky have authorities or is it up to the person who was wronged?
I've had the Director 'viola' the guitar at me and try to sell it to me after following them around like a duckling, but no suspicions of trying to steal.
Also, I'm pretty sure the elders put you in time out.
I was standing at the top of the stairs and they walked up to the main desk and whipped their head up to stare at me-
Plus, one time I was trying to see how the hand pan sounded… and they immediately walked over and sat next to me to watch closely
That was terrifying
Do you think director has a sixth sense for menaces after being a theatre teacher?
I absolutely believe that.
definitely
I’m just trying to vibe and they show up behind me everytime-
Turn my camera and BOOM
Either I’m being adopted or they hate me and think I’m going to do something I should not/
Skids went to the Guide en masse at the start of the season and went 'you're our parent now' and they've accepted this role for all skids, even you.
I wonder if the Guide would actually be a good parent or if they're a 'you've got no business raising a house plant, let alone a child' type of person.
HAHA i could see either
The only guides we know for sure are good parents are Belongings Guide, who is our beloved Granny, and Dreams Guide, who is kinda implied to be the young skater's parent.
Some concept stuff had Ceasing Commodore be the Abyss Guide's parent I think, but that might not be true anymore.
Is good at parenting:

Can’t raise a house plant:

Is the house plant:
I want to know more about how the belongings family works. Is Granny's kid pleaful or sparkler parent? Is the vault belongings spirit Granny's spouse or like, Granny's sibling
You've got a lot of nerve saying Flight and Sanctuary Guide can't raise a house plant
I’d assume it’s an “it takes a village” type thing, where everyone helps to raise the children in the family
Yeah, I definitely think Sky Kingdom culture has an 'it takes a village' approach, considering how spirits like the light seekers are so quick to hug us. You expect Granny to do it because they're a granny, but all the other guides and the light seekers are not that character archetype.
That said, Belongings family clearly has like, generations and stuff involved, which you can tell by the capes and titles.
Discovery: musician will play any sheet music you select to play with them
Oh hell yeah, I'll need to try that out later.
I will not lie I have considered this as a possibility in the past. I don’t think Megabird would do that, plus it doesn’t really fit with Sky’s themes so I don’t think it’s canon, but if you write it well it does have the potential to be really gut wrenching
I personally believe that it all might've been just a big accident.
Like, most of us can agree that the ancestors probably did some less-than-good stuff with light creatures and the diamonds, but did they know what they were getting themselves into? Maybe they were just too innocent or too ignorant, or both, they might not have been aware of what they were doing was wrong, perhaps neither the elders nor the ancestors really knew the harm they were causing, but simultaneously that harm caused them to disconnect from Megabird which made them unable to be made aware of said harm
They simply did what they did without putting that much thought on it, without possibly being able to predict it was going to backfire the way it did.
Megabird and the elders might not be as full of knowledge and wisdom as many think, perhaps they only knew about part of the nature of the light, but didn't truly know anything about the darkness.
I just really like the idea of Megabird just, not being omniscient and instead just knowing what the elders, ancestors and light creatures knew and not much else, meaning Megabird didn't become aware of the harm of Darkstone until it got disconnected from the ancestors and elders
It's just a random collection of thoughts I had, it probably doesn't make full sense but I had to write it down
it's tragic in a more bittersweet way that they were doing almost everything right and their civilization was consumed by darkness anyway...
Their only mistake was not knowing they were making a mistake... It's kinda poetic in a way I think
Anyways yeah this is just a random theory I just came up with, anyone feel free to correct any mistakes I might've made or anything
I believe that Megabird doesn’t really have a major influence in the Sky world. They just sit there, commanding over the Light
I think Megabird and the Elders might've had a direct connection at some point, but that connection disappeared when the stars fell
then again, if you see it as more of the "they're aware that what they're doing is wrong but they're ignoring it for profit" angle it's far more chilling... and quite the commentary on humanity
The idea that the ancestors were just going along merrily, 'to hell with the consequences, I don't know what pollution is lol' doesn't always sit well with me. Like, we know what pollution is, and yeah, there are greedy people who just continue to not care and exploit it out of greed, but lots of humans try to put a hard stop to it or mitigate its effects (Days of Nature was tied to one such charity).
The idea that they just abused light creatures for batteries also doesn't sit right with me. We slaughter animals for food, but the thing is, there is an entire thing about doing so quickly and humanly. We don't torture the poor things.
I just don't like takes that assume the ancestors were just being like the worst of humanity. It just seems shallow to me.
(I'm not saying your take was that, I'm kinda just going off on a tangent)
That's true, and the interpretation that makes more sense imo, but I just like to come up with stuff
honestly it depends on what the context is for which interpretation i go with
also american livestock production is actually rather horrific a lot of the time so yeah :|
Yeah. My theory is a "might be" because I know it probably isn't correct. I just had those thoughts and felt like I had to write it down
I'm not saying livestock production doesn't have flaws on like, a corporation level, but there are plenty of businesses that actually look after animal welfare, and even if corporations are shady, we do have animal welfare laws as well. (America's are lacking, but tbh I don't wanna get into it too deeply. It's depressing
)
Megabird may not be able to have direct influence on the Sky world due to being in space and such. if they were to influence the world, They could at best send someone down there to do Their bidding.
They may not even know what is going on down there unless something from the world ascends to goes to the Light. I take it that Megabird only knows as much as the Light knows. if something doesn't join with the Light, Megabird has no knowledge of what it is thinking or what it has experienced. likewise, any being of light in the world would not know of the Megabird.
we don't know how much the Elders communicated with Megabird, but from their demigod status, it's safe to assume the Elders were somehow more linked to Megabird than anyone else. the Elders can go to and fro Orbit, so perhaps they informed and spoke with Megabird that way. perhaps they had some sort of direct mental link that withered or was severed overtime, as Leon said, with darkness overtaking the world.
no worries, i at least love hearing people's theories and different interpretations
It's good to read your theory. Lorechat isn't about being 'correct', it's about having fun. And even 'I don't think this is true' theories are good food for thought
This is exactly how I see Megabird as well, they only know as much as the creatures who ascend to them. If somebody doesn't ascend, their knowledge never reaches Megabird
this begs the thought that sky kids are like the newspaper, bringing them the latest up-to-date news- oh man i kinda love that
Sky kids rushing through Eden to bring megabird the tea
Sólvin
context: Sólvin is a skykid character who stays in Orbit except when Megabird sends them down to do Their bidding, gather info, and come back up. basically Megabird's reliable skykid informant.
“HEY MOM!! Did you know there’s a new season in town, there’s the Forgetful Storyteller, they’re very forgetful and nice, there’s Mellow Musician, they’re kinda sassy and very good at music…” this goes on for 15 minutes
maybe that's how the other spirits knew to descend to Performance theater and be a part of the audience
That brings to mind a bunch of skids in Orbit handing out flyers for the performance
i love the idea of megabird being so excited when a skid comes to orbit with news
What’s the lore for how Chibi fall works?
Skids can turn intangible, or they're part mole
some madlads discovered how to chibi fall by brute forcing the game and since it became so useful for OOBing, devs decided not to fix it
How does one even discover that???
Boredom and the curiousity of trying to fall through the floor
Chibi fall probably isn’t canon in lore, but it’s incredibly useful. although. I would love to see peoples in universe explanations for it
chibis = annoying = chibi falling instead of helping with doors = eat chibis and drink their tears
Oh I can get behind that solution
I respect the people who discovered it
The technical side of Sky is insane. Here’s one video that proves how strange it is: https://youtu.be/UUQjhOf2gV4
Madlad
That’s not all. Let me dm you an even more chaotic run
What about the chibis that don’t do that? I’m a chibi and I don’t even know how to do a chibi fall. Plus I’d rather help people with doors bc I know how annoying it is to watch a chibi fall instead of help
This is a debated issue amongst chibis. Should you always wait to light the door for other players? What if nobody’s there? What about server merges? What are the chances of a server merge? What about other non-chibis who simply don’t help?
These topics are being debated at the chibi election debates. The MAFIA (Murderer Armies Fighting Independent of Ash) are generally pro using chibi fall to skip through doors, while the WHY (Wallchibi Hegemony of Youkillers) are anti- chibi falling to skip doors.
I think there should be some kind of rule; if there’s someone there, if there’s enough people to open a door, open the door with them. And if there isn’t, then chibi fall.
I don’t plan on learning how to chibi fall, to be honest
that sounds unnecessarily complicated (what baud said), all I really care about is chibis not chasing me
I only chase my friends; I don’t know about other chibis tho
a stranger followed me into vault the other day
I agree with you on this. There is an alternative option, though: friending someone and chibi falling through the door with them. This is for four-player doors when there’s not enough players
raise your hand if you remember that super easy way to get into the 4 player door on the second floor of vault
damn
There is none
I know of the leap emote thing but idk if thats it
what even is that room for. why is the table so big.Who is supposed to sit there it is too large
evil giant table with the even eviler and messed up chairs
why are the chairs shaped like that
Only for supervillains (chibis)
everyone in vault has back pain and those chairs aren’t helping
Elders I assume
Maybe the table is made to look large bc we’re kids so everything looks big to us?? So it’s size is made to amplify that. I know that’s why the elders are so tol but I don’t know if it applies to props in world, especially because it looks so weird compared to the spirit memories there
ayin wouldn't fit anyways
Not without it being comical, that is
the table is their chair
how many chairs r thetre
I want to say 6. this means that if it was for the elders the twins would have to share a seat and I don’t think that would end well to be honest
no yeah what I was thinkin' was not necessarily usable chairs for the elders but. sky does that thing in murals that lots of real-life cultures do where things are exaggerated in size to emphasize their importance so maybe it was like that
YEAH THATS WHAT I WAS THINJING. but. The spirits look so small compared to it in size so it’s hard to imagine them using it unless some weird purple light whatever happened but that’s a last resort explanation. or do you think it was symbolic or something
What's the point tho? Not many people would see it since it's in Vault
yeah yeah! gimme a sec I need to finish me dailies
Spade I want you to know that for some reason I have started reading your messages in a horrible stereotypical Italian accent and I can’t seem to stop. How do I turn it off.
The levitating Adept memory seems to use the table. They place a memory cube thing on it
idk but I did not rememebr pouty porter's memory ending like that they have a semi-unique emote that's so cool...
top 10 mysteries in Sky: what pouty porter is holding
salem pspspsps can u do me a favor. follow a friend quest
welcome back from intermission, look at these stupid chairs
Has anyone in their life ever used that chat table for the intended purpose?
ME I HAVE
oh my god its a chat table. how have i. not realized that
What's it like? I feel like the camera angles would make me cry
but yeah I was suggesting that the table was mostly symbolic bc even if you were tall enough to use it those chairs r so weirdly uncomfortable looking
My back is aching just looking at that. You’re probably right
Maybe it's literally an art piece. They've got a garden in the secret area, so vault isn't just 'all learning no fun' zone
With all the memoru lanterns being stored in that room, hmm… I wonder if it was like a history room or something?? I don’t know, I am tired and lore thoughts have been coming more slowly recently
look at the weird grooves in these chairs. no one is sitting in these
I have a thought on what those weird grooves could be caused by but I don’t like it very much
I hear ya but they're like completely seperate. would be extremely uncomfortable
Honestly, if you split people two to a chair, it might be more comfortable than sitting in the middle
Could be from the ancestors making grooves for their legs, sitting on a flat surface has gotta be some flavor of uncomfortable
then there's like no room left on the chair for them to actually sit on
our skykids sitting exactly in the middle is killing me. They could double up and be so much more comfortable but no
What about the middle of the chair
then how would you put your legs in the groove i'm confused
There is a whole lot of space in the back the kids aren't sitting on
Spread your legs
i'm sorry guys but have you not sat in chairs before bc this would be the worst chair to ever chair
Then you would be sitting halfway off the back of the chair this makes no sense
We've established that these chairs are the worst chairs to chair
Agreed
EVIL chairs are the real reason the kingdom went to ruins, we dont see the kings evil messed up throne anymore
ok so what's the weirdest way you could sit on these chairs that would be the most comfortable
everyone sat in weird horrible chairs wrong because they were all gay #truefact
Butt on the back middle of the chair, then spread your legs to rest in the divots.
I wonder if using a tall + giant combo spell would look different. I got as tall as performance guide when I did it, so we'd have ancestor height
i'm thinking legs crossed sitting in the middle/back of the chair, I like having circulation in my legs
their throne was a beanbag it’s true I was there. Do not question the validity of this statement
What about criss cross
yeah that’s what i’d do if confronted with this chair
with different ancestors (the censorship makes it funnier in some ways i think)
HELP
Then you're a good chibi
The ancestors should have really invested in some kind of pillow or cushions instead of using stone all the time. I hear that manta hide is exceptionally comfortable when made into leather, so why not use that?
Yeti's bed has a brown blanket on it actually. It's textured like stone though
I come in after what feels like 3 years and what I see is sofas
great
also goodbye I have finals :D
THIS IS SO UTTERLY THE VALLEY TWINS I LOVE IT
ohmvygod i didnt turn off ping i am so sorry
Mega Bird can lay up to thousands of eggs per year. Most of them drop down as light orbs that can be catch using special sticks, like that of Laughing Lightcatcher. Many of them hatch successfully, fall down becoming sky kids. Very rare, bigger eggs become elders. The Prince type of egg is even more rare, only one documented until now. A prince can also create special type of stars, called "winged light" where the prince stand too long and kind of leave a mark. The detail of it is still a mystery. Prince does not lay eggs.
bobbit.
I think the grooves are from someone sitting for so long the chair memorized it
Proof: I have single-handedly removed 93% of the blue dye on our local swingset. All of my pants are blue jeans now
Actually most of my skirts too
Da ba dee da ba dang it #😔
Where do those little black plants come from
Probrably corruption from the Eden Elder?
I think it’s just a natural cause of darkness
about this, but cursed headcanon that skids just eat wax. to forge they just burp them out again from under their mask or something
Funny thing I noticed in stormlocked home: all the masks on the Eden gate have glowing eyes. This is probably to reflect the one we open to leave the realm's social area, but I like to think it also represents the elders holding the Storm back...
The realm portals don't really have shining eyes though, only the one in which we have to do quests.
T-thats a weird theory
i like how wasteland elder’s eyes aren’t even on the portal
they might also light up when you first unlock each portal, i know the dawn portal’s eyes light up when you first start the game, but i’m not sure about the rest
5 mask and ther 6 realm
mhm, no dawn elder
I have a question
Hello!
Can the sky kid survive the lava?
Sky kids could probably thrive in lava
they probably wouldn’t be burned by lava but they might like, drown
drink lava (for legal reasons do not actually drink lava)
they fell down when the elder allowed themselves to cry
I wish I could but all we got is concept art to stare at lol
Though some of the most prominent monuments to the king are the giant upright statues we see in the Golden Wasteland.
You will have to create it yourself.
However, we can give some theories:
-Resh is likely the Eden Elder.
-Alef/Resh likely loved and used darkstone:
-Alef/Resh is likely to be the Chosen One who completed the trials.
Notice how it’s all likely- there’s nothing confirmed!
Tnx
The most commonly depicted theory (that I personally do not believe in) is about the prince ("Alef") being the character depicted in the Prophecy murals that succeeded all the trials, and being crowned king ("Resh") as a reward. They allegedly went on to become the Eden Elder, and their corruption by darkstone may have spelled the kingdom's doom.
What part of it do you not believe in?
Hello!
Ooohhhh I am curious why do you not believe that?
Cartoon villains are too basic for what TGC usually does imo.
OHH YEAH I agree with that. I thought you meant you didn’t agree with the first half so I was confused like… do you know something we don’t?? but
I do think the Prophecy Guide is the one that succeeded at all 4 trials.
Yea it’s really easy to cast all the blame onto the king since they’re not here to speak for themself. They make an easy scapegoat.
i think a common interpretation of their failure to lead effectively is that they were a kid and crumbled under the stress, which adds a bit more depth, but yeah idk...
I personally don’t believe about the Prophecy part, but that’s just my stupid bias
I think that the King was influenced by the idea of darkstone so much that they were blind to the benefits of light
I really like the idea of no one being evil but everuone just struggling to survive and keep everyone else alive, and then blaming themselves for what happened. it feels both realistic and it can be really heartbreaking which j enjoy
Yeah I like that too. It feels very human... "this situation has spiraled out of control and I want to fix it but it feels too big to fix so I just have to focus on keeping myself and those I love alive"
I think that darkstone should be likened to fossil fuels irl; more powerful and/or versatile than renewable energy, but we were robbed from knowing the truth about the consequences until very recently.
I think the ancestors realized too late, when they were dependent on it, that darkstone was doing more harm than good despite higher performance compared to raw light.
About that... I noticed the Forest Elder diamond is shattered, like the stormlock diamond.
Their pin poem also mentions them shattering something in vain... coincidence ?
Maybe the Forest Elder had a hand in whatever happened to the Eden diamond...
Vela I love everything you just said and agree wholeheartedly
Oh man, the pieces falling together there..... (figuratively, though also literally i suppose
)
Their cutscene even has them try to mend a diamond to no avail, so perhaps they feel guilt (especially since Apologetic Lumberjack, the spirit bearing the same headdress, teaches an emote expressing just that, regret and guilt).
Perhaps the Forest Elder wanted to rebuild the Sky kingdom using Darkstone, but went too far, destroying the PNR diamond
I like to think that as the source of darkstone technology, they realized the dangers associated with it (even its extraction sounds tedious, see the Tearful Light Miner) and either realized too late, or ancestors didn't listen to their warnings. Perhaps something caused them to lash out at that Eden Diamond afterwards...
So if the top is eye of Eden where do you think the ascent starts? Like how far down
I know it’s Eden because of the prince
I mean when you go through the door of Eden from home wheee on the mountain do you think you start
Also lore question #2: you never get daily quests or treasure candles in isle of dawn. That is meant to represent childhood so is it a message that you can’t relive childhood? Bc that’s kinda depressing haha
Keep in mind the Eden we see from the realms is from another point in time than the Eden we walk in !
When you leave the Vault after Vault Elder’s cutscene, you can see the top of the Vault behind you at the beginning of Eden. So really while ascending the Vault, you’re ascending Eden partyway from inside the mountain then continue the climb on the surface.
But the prince walks there specifically from the desert? It looked the same to me?
Little Prince took the long way
The Little Prince doesn't abide by the laws of physics because he's french.
Feel free to ignore any timey wimey shenanigans if it hurts your head cos I do too
Marvel has made me sick of timey wimey parallel worlds
Loki show was ok but they keep going lol
One way to think about it is that Eden looks different from different locations/perspectives or weather patterns change how it look, like whether the mountain is completely covered in clouds or not
Since spirits are traditionally seen as dead people my head cannon says this is some post apocalyptic world that we as the next generation have to inherit after all the adults died mysteriously
Perhaps Eden had something to do with it… mysterious time portal
Yeah that's pretty much it ! I like to think we're the same specie as ancestors because they are referred to as our ancestors in the emotes help menu :]
What powers do you possess
Me ?
Can you also defy physics? /j
I'm not french.
This game reminds me a lot of the movie 9 and in that movie the characters were dolls created by a human. They were seen as the children and the heirs of the world in a way. They called the created “father” and were seen as the children inherited the world.
The monsters there are a lot like the monsters in this game and the krill even make similar sounds and the spotlight is similar.
Also the dolls were a lot smaller than people and we are really small in this world. Like even when you use the spell to become an adult you are smaller.
Our face is also a mask. Like even the default is just a mask on top of your head. Very doll like
Didn’t you say you were? (I am very sorry if I misunderstood and this was a joke like Salem and cheese)
Maybe I'm french. Maybe I'm not. Who knows
Vela is french they are lying
HEY WHAT ABOUT ME STAYING MYSTERIOUS AND COOL
Vela is French, of course they’re lying
There there you can stay mysterious and cool
My passport says I'm gay.
NO FAIR how do I get a gay passport
Yea that’s how I think of it. Skykids may have a lot of similarities with the ancestors but they’re not the same (Some of these similarities may be shared between all beings of light but I’m too tired to get into Sky biology). The ancestors are referred to as the ancestors because they are skykids’ predecessors
Tone-wise I read this as jokingly feigning innocence so I suppose I was correct
Mad because you’re French and didn’t get puycuscs defying powers aren’t you
puycuscs
What even is that supposed to be lol
I give up
It was supposed to be physics
I give up psorntoo
I think vela is hacking in to my tablet and making me do typos
Here, forged you one, this stays between us.
bad influence for children
Stealing this for later when I go to Canada and harass the Canadian French
Al you dropped this 👑
I’m late to responding to this bc I got sick sadly but oooh. I really like these interpretations, especially the second one :0
I will mention that their poem is abt them shattering light which I took to mean them separating it to put it in darkstone if that makes sense
I thought ancestors and sky kids are two completely different races
Like a sky kid is practically a light and dark creature and the ancestors were more… physical than that? Were they humans?
Ancestors are basically equivalent to humans but more in a thematic regard.
ancestors are like humans unless it’s cooler for them to do something else
It’s really hard to figure out how ancestor biology works if that’s what you’re asking. There’s a few bits of evidence that can be taken so many different ways and it’s just. Yeah. They might be almost like humans, they might have shells like skykids, etc. the answer is probably really simple and we’re just overthinking it
The only thing I will say that I find interesting is that spade mentioned to me last night about shivering trailblazers spirit memory showing that ancestors could get extinguished bc they’re bald in it which…,,hmmm
Nobody even knows how the spell physics; I don’t even know how I managed to introduce it here
I think a lot of them could use magic, and as spirits they could use their light from the megabird to be more expressive. I noticed some spirits have light animations that sky kids don’t have from expressions. When this season’s guide stomps on the ground in anger he makes little cracks of light on the ground. While their increased movement and ability to act on their own might be because Sky staff is advancing their skill levels to make them more lively I do wonder if as the seasons pass, the Sky realm starts to become more and more habitable for the spirits to live in instead of being at the megabird all the time
Afternoon lore heard chat
All of those spirits who hang out by the sapling have a different emote. They hug the tree, and then levitate an orb. Maybe it’s an emote I just don’t have. It reminds me of the spell casting emote.
Lightseekers
I take it that the lightseekers are cultivating light from the saplings for some reason:
perhaps they're doing something akin to pruning – maybe the saplings are growing so well, a bit too well, and much alike to trimming a plant of its branches so it isn't top heavy, the lightseekers are taking enough of the trees' light so it doesn't overwhelm itself. these are saplings, babies, not mature.
or as Vela said, they're harvesting light from it, the light they're cultivating the fruit of the crop.
I've been leaning that they're grafting from the tree, taking bits of it or its genetic material to plant elsewhere so more saplings can grow.
though fun fact: the emotes and their stances they do are exclusive to spirits from their realm. Shushing Light Scholar only does Vault expressions, Crab Whisperer only does Wasteland expressions, Twirling Champion only does Valley Expressions, etc.
Yeah and eventually, they end up going away. But unlike the gravestones of the start of the area and the unmoving unlit spirit memories they can linger, and practically act on their own. I think at some point, they run out of energy and have to return to the megabird.
That makes me think that seasons are spirits chosen to be given enough light to act out their wishes for one last time before they have to return. At the end of this season, will all the spirits except for the guide leave? Will the guide wander the Hall of Harmony by themself?
I wonder how all the spirits died, did darkness killed them? I think of a theory that they tried to get to Eden, and died on their path there
Because there were nothing but ashes
Maybe it was a paradise before the darkness came
maybe the logic of the second paragraph is how guides work and not just season spirits in general? I don’t know., hmmmm… it would make a lot of sense though. Especially because you don’t have to relive them or anything
Some of them died from natural non-darkness causes (fainting warrior), but some of them were killed by darkness (tearful light miner’s group)
is a stab wound "natural causes?"
Some spirits died via events like harvesting darkstone, and I think that person in season of Abyss drowned because no one except the sky kid saved them (maybe all the season’s spirits wish was that they could bring them back). In that same train of thought, I wonder if the Season of Enchantment’s ship crew all died via a krill attack (and their wish was that they could rebuild a town and a paradise)
fainting warrior is like the last spirit i would use as an example of a natural death
Is there any clues in the game for how the spirits could die?
but otherwise, the ancestors all died at some point then their spirits petrified due to darkness. we free them from darkness by reviving them with our flames, chasing away the darkness that petrified them.
depends on the spirit. fainting warrior dies in front of us due to an injury, and i think angler’s memory could possibly mean that a krill got ‘em
Triumph land seems sunny and calm, but probably it just cleaned from the darkness after a long time, also, I don’t know but did Children of the light existed before the darkness came?
*secretively slips into pocket *
Thank you thank you, I will tell no one
I don’t think Children of Light existed before the darkness, but there’s little evidence for this. It could go both ways
Pure willpower
Personally I think that the spirits were humans that could use magic before they died and got turned into spirits
Then why they started to appear? To keep the balance?🧐🧐🧐
it also depends on if we’re using “children of light” and “sky children” as synonyms
Youthful innocence as well!
I mean they do look like humans
Extremely
WHOLESOME
HUMANS
hey gang what do we thing of this
“return your ancestors to the sky”
It’s actually kinda sad that all those spirits are long dead people
They are just so nice why the context should be so cruel
I think the closest thing to a sky kid in the spirit’s times was the King who was practically worshipped by the entire kingdom
in a figurative sense. the people that came before; not necessarily blood-related ancestors
How is the kingdom called tho..
I know the name of each m but are they all one kingdom? Or several different?
I think the ancestors are like. our metaphorical ancestors if that makes sense. We aren’t genetically related but are very similar in terms of anatomy and are the closest thing we have to parents, although there are some obvious differences.
I like to think of ancestor anatomy as more human than skykids but also a bit Weird. unfortunately I have very little proof for this
Sky kids learn from their memories so that’s fair
They are like children, not blood related, but mentally
I tend to go with this interpretation, so like, not related as in direct descendants but made of a mix of what the ancestors left behind
OOOH FHATS A GOOD IDEA I LOVE IT.
I wonder what happened to the spirits of Performance
I had a headcanon that they needed to flee from the Land of Triumph like others, and died on the way here
But it’s all just a huge fan fiction
Also, do the spirits return to the place where they been before, or stay where they die when we meet them?..
the king gave each Elder certain elemental/light powers, I think they are self governing like different states? Or different countries over time?
If you look at the scenes in the Propechy caves you can see the king handing those power things they got from the trials over
More like different cities.. everyone of them does it’s own job
or perhaps individual states or provinces under one nation
could have changed over time, early in sky’s history they might’ve been more separated but became dependent on one another as time went on. or maybe the opposite i’m not sure
At least there were no conflict between them
Thanks for that at least
I’d like to see a fanfic of a sky kid being somehow transported to before the calamity, before the spirits became spirits. Maybe they’d get mistaken for the King
But they all just DIED in the end yeah what a peaceful game!!
Sky lore will either make you sad or drive you mad
Given the war that is implied wasteland I am not sure about this…
although tbf its hard to tell what exactly they were fighting against. my guess is a combo of other ancestors and dark creatures just based on how the defensive structures and weapons look, but there isn’t an obvious concrete answer.
I would never forgive them the DEATH OF PERFORMANCE GUIDE
but if he wasn’t dessert, I would never meet him…
Things are complicated okay
Performance guide dessert ?
did you just call Performance guide dessert
they are pretty fruity
I like to think that something similar happened with tlp at least once. Some skykid casually mentioned to an elder that they made friends with a prince who fell from the sky and it just goes down hill from there
What of there was way more dark creatures but they became instinct? There is a HUGE skeletons in the library and in wastelands(as I remember) , no way only crabs and Krills were created by the darkness
those could likely be light creature corpses.
makes sense for more light creatures to have gone extinct due to the Eden calamity rather than dark creatures.
I.. I wanted to write dead
But you know that’s fair
He is so sweet
They could be both. I do like to think that dark creatures can’t really die, like if you “kill” them they just come back to life after awhile kinda thing, and that’s what happened with the krill in the first area of wasteland — but I don’t have evidence for this
Yeah that’s right..
But what if krills just ate them, when there were no light creatures to hunt?
if the war in wasteland was against dark creatures they could’ve been wiped out then
“You made friends with a WHAT”
“Yeah he’s gone now we went to the megabird and everything???”
“Why does Megabird never tell me anything. I guess the Prince passed the vibe check if he was in the megabird smh”
Performance guide appears intimidating but they're so friendly with the skids and their students as well as so funnily animate, you'd be pressed to dislike them
Also the prince can talk to dark dragons so they CAN speak and are not mindless hmmm
That was the first season I came to
And my favourite
I like to think he and his troupe are actually hOmE skilled performers that are trying their best
He does act like he is just annoyed with them having troubles but the last quest shows that he really cares about them been cheered up
I wonder if those rib cages are from those massive multi eyes meaty chonkers (mega krill?) Like in season of Abyss
I just like how he puts all the work on poor sky kids
Who knows, maybe he wants to teach them performing by giving them the tasks he and his troupe does
how else would students learn if they have don't practice hands on?
Go PERFORM YOU LITTLE-
I didn't really see I that way tbh, it felt more like us helping performers that lost their confidence tbh.
I need to draw Guide boot kicking skykid on the stage
There's been something that's been kinda bothering me
what is the name eden referring to?
Is it the name of the storm? Is it the name of the mountain? Is it the name of the castle? IS IT THE NAME OF THE REALM? IS IT THE TRUE NAME OF THE KINGDOM? IS IT ALL OF THEM AT ONCE AND NONE AT THE SAME TIME AAAAAAA-
help
with all the season quests, it seems fairly obvious that the skykids want to do them. you don’t have to participate in the season, you go to the questgiver and actively choose to help them out. performance guide is just giving you the chance to gain the skills you’d need to help put on the show
In the end he does cheer them up by himself, he definitely was doing it himself before the sky kids came
He just wanted us to be closer and know each other better by helping in trouble
I like to think the skykids volunteer to do the quests. for instance, one of my Sky OCs really enjoys playing music, so they volunteered themself to take Mellow's place in Act III
My suspicion is that as the seasons progress, the spirits and sky world are becoming healed. So they can visit more and even interact with the world. Like Days of ___ when a group of spirits come now. Kind of the same thing you said.
It’s the joy of creation! Inspiring others to create inspires yourself to create! The sky kids are given and taught how to use this new gizmo and the performance guide wants them to use it!
Sky kids learn and want to be a part of the gone civilisation, and spirits help them do that
RIP performance guide. went from having three or four students to several thousand skykid students who are all both eager to help and feel like they have an obligation to
Several of which are about to commit gender theft.
It does feel like they put all the work on you, but it’s all memories, that means they were on your place, but now they just can’t help because they are spirits and are stuck in the mobile game quest giving
the spirits are spirits in the present, so they're prob actively moving around and doing things in the present. they're just spirits. death isn't the end in Sky
I adore how Guide and his helpers are chillin in the music shop
Yes! I think sky kids are making the realms better. I also think the king was supposed to do this but wasn’t able to keep the balance and fell into despair. Having the world on your shoulders alone is a weight too much to bear
yeah and that fact is both comforting and terrifying. especially when you think about how long everuone has been trapped in darkness and also krills in general
Wait are the spirits aware they're dead or is it like a ghost sort of thing where they think they're still alive & can't comprehend that they've kicked the bucket?
They seem so lifefull
you ask them
i think you’d notice after a while
Yeah they are
But they are so used to it lol
at least two of them have not only realized but have begun to exploit their newfound powers in order to break the fabric of reality
As is the nature of sky hubris
WHO
ARE THOSE CHADS
Crab Whisperer and Scaredy Cadet, the latter of which is acting a load-bearing asset for the Performance theater
I wonder if traveling spirits are more tied to the megabird than the rest and just want to stay there more than the rest of their chosen peers…
are they still up there??
Woah
Also
Does Performance guide teleport..I like the fact that there is like two steps from a musical shop to the stage and he is everywhere
HE HAS A CLONE
We have to knock them down with a really long broom for the fifth quest /j
that’s just rhythm guide
LMAO
this is completely offtopic but I made uh. you know the Isle pride flag
I. I did what I said I wanted to and uh
Day 9: they still haven’t noticed I’m not performance guide
👁️ 👄 👁️
They can teleport but it feels like they’re alive again in they walk around maybe
I imagine rhythm guide taking off the cape and running to another map just to be on his place when you meet him after the performance stage
And that all just to troll a sky kid
…….coloured lights
Yeah Guide does walk around BUT HE CAN RAN OVER THE WHOLE SHOP AND GO THRU ANOTHER EXIT WHILE YOU ARE LITERALLY IN TWO STEPS FROM IT
AND STILL DO NOT NOTICE HIM
If you had the opportunity to pull off a prank like this would you not do it as well??
worried it’d count as image spam though. it’s seven total
Like if you wanna play a song with him he won’t teleport to you and you need to wait for him to come
But he teleports just to tell you hey wanna spend some money??
It’s the TGC effect that drives them
There’s just one performance guide but they’re really fast [Lie]
Truly an Iconic spirit
Well with Ultimate gifts and a giant spell you can ALSO be the performance guide!
Man I never talked to a sky colt community before but I enjoy it
Don’t tell vela that
and be a part of the biggest prank in sky colt history…
My instincts are telling me there’s a bigger prank but I don’t know what it would be. The high-five incident maybe
Eden is the biggest prank of all
I like how you slap his knee when you try to high five him
skykids smol
Go for the back of the knee! Bring em down, kids!
Lmao yeah, also I wish there was a spell that could let you have the same size as spirits, or different body proportions
chibis have gone on record for stealing kneecaps
But then they won’t be skykids…
They will be just
sky
sky: otl
Sky: Light
That’s just megabird
A bit off topic but I was hoping yall might have some clarification on the ancestors being agender as I was a bit confused as to what that means in the context of the lore. Were they agender in a sort of cultural sense where they just didn't have genders but still had biological sexes, or were they agender in the sense that they didnt have distinct biological sexes ?
In Russian version Sorryteller is a girl
And the dancer too
they just don’t have the concept of gender in their society. there is no gender. if you asked a spirit what their gender was they would be extremely confused
I would guess first, although any super in depth discussion about ancestor sexes is probably not appropriate for this server. tbh it doesn’t really matter
But Idk how canon this it
gneder ≠ sex
I just pray for the Performance Guide to be a man because of he is not than damn I refuse to know there is girls that are prettier
Ok so now i gotta figure out how I mix this into "they're all golems" headcanon
I do know that a lot of translations of Sky into gendered languages are just. all over the place. it’s like they flip a coin for each spirit almost.
All the spirits are agender [genderless] so… they are neither
Performance guide isn't a man as much as they aren't a woman or any other gender. they're just Performance guide
Yeah Actually
You can give them the genders you like yourself…
Nobody stops you
I do think Sky kids are a kind of darkness golem protected/powered by light
That’s
Such a strong sentence
No, they’re agender. There’s a difference - genderlessness ≠ you can assign any gender to this person you’d like
Yeah I get it, It’s like genderbent for the sake of head canons
Not actually giving them the gender you like in game
“I have no pronouns, you may only refer to me by my name… shadow the hedgehog Performance Guide.” /ref
Sorry if it made you rage or smth
Didn’t meant to start a conflict based on such topics and my unconvinient behaviour
Just a general question.
If a person dies and becomes a ghost, do they lose their gender and age?
Let's say a 6 year old girl dies and becomes a ghost. Would they still be a 6 year old girl even if a 100 years have past?
They'd still look about the same as when they first appeared as a ghost of a 6 year old girl.
Same applies to any person of any gender, or age, and time passed after they have died.
They don’t have names anymore for sure
I truly believe they did had names before they died, but all those unneeded parts of personality just vanished
no, gender doesn’t have anything to do with your body, it’s part of who you are. the age thing is a bit more complicated but they’d just stay the same age
This is what happened to me actually /j
Losing their age, probably. Unless they still think like a 6 year old. I don’t know why they’d lose their gender though
when you die you drop your gender as loot
I think they become what their memories were, and play them out mostly. They are confined to their life and cannot act too much outside of it… that’s the sky kid’s job, to take what they have and make something more of it while keeping the balance of the world
you just seemed more ignorant to it. unfortunately TGC doesn't popularize the fact that no beings in Sky have a gender and we, due to our gender socializations irl, are quick to ascribe gender onto characters whose appearance aligns with our culture's implications of "masculine" or "feminine." while some characters may have presentations we would ascribe masculine or feminine, because Sky civilization is a gender society, that gender coding does not exist.
this is moreso something to keep in mind when traversing genderqueer and nonbinary spaces – gender is a social construct. while that doesn't make gender any less real, it is liable to change and very flexible if you allow it to be.
That’s complicated but I got what you meant
take for instance long hair. in Western society, long hair is coded feminine and men with short hair are the norm. however in indigenous American societies, long hair is unisex and anyone of any gender will have long hair since it is associated with personhood & honor
Speaking of hair. I just want to appreciate all the Abyss hairstyles. They are just all so good
To my understanding ghosts in real life (if you believe in ghosts that is!) are typically belived to be sort of stuck in the period they died in, with them roaming the halls of their old house/haunt in the way they would of when they were alive regardless of any renovations or modifications to the home/haunt. To me this indicates that ghost probably aren't aware that any time has actually passed & are mostly ignorant to what is happening around them! So it's likely that if you were a 6 year old girl & died, you would probably remain nearly identical in age, appearance, or mind even 300 years after your death.
Honestly, not really. The way most people see gender as binary and solid is a lot more complex to me than just giving up and going “Whatever, it doesn’t really matter”. Like all the rules and everything confuse me endlessly
For ghosts, it'd probably be a difference between chronological, mental, and physical age
what if… dancer and storyteller lesbians….
how on earth would that even work
Like a normal relationship???
Well when two people love each other very much-
I meant, if nobody in Sky has gender, then how can lesbian relationships (which are defined by their gender) occur? That parts a bit a bit confusing for me
Regarding the Lore, the consensus (what everyone generally agrees with) is that ancestors, spirits, skykids and Elders do not have a gender.
While some spirits can appear with features that lean towards feminine or masculine such as for example, the Dawn Elder's appearance resembles an old man; or the skater girl's appearance resembles a young girl with their ponytail and skirt.
When working with a theoretical canon in Sky, it is best to go with "them" to maintain an objective (unbiased) stance.
Although, the lore of Sky is open to interpretation.
With that official statement, it allows folks to go with a gender they interpreted when it comes to fanon.
Hope this helps.
every relationship is queer and they can call their relationship whatever the hell they want /nm
nonbinary lesbians are real i know so many of them
The words we use to describe things evolve over time
Apologies for the academic writing style. ^^"
I like it, you're easy to understand
don't apologise for making your writing legible
Glad to hear that ❤️
I usually stick to the canon when it comes to spirit genders just because I like it a lot. I don’t know if it’s necessarily great or solid agender representation because it is implied to be open to interpretation ||[Although, this is arguable. Any sort of official statement ranges from “it’s open to interpretation” to “they are agender and people just project their views of gender onto them” which are two entirely different things and make it all the more confusing… personally I believe it’s the second but still]|| but it makes me happy to see myself being represented at all; I barely get to see it. It does make me sad that gender gets projected on them at all if that makes sense?? but that’s just a general thing I have to deal with in society and I sadly can’t do a lot about it
Pretty sure it's the second one. That said, lots of people use fiction to explore things in a safe environment. I'm sure plenty of people gender spirits because that's what they're used to, but there are also players using the spirits to explore their own relationship with gender.
It’s just generally a really frustrating topic that’s hard for me to navigate, esp since as an agender person I’m more affected by it than most are. Unfortunately a lot of people’s transphobia seems to come up when it gets brought up as well, which just makes it worse
Do theories about what textures different outfits in sky have count as lore?
As the statement, about the lore being open to interpretation, is said from different developers, it help solidify the fact.
In addition to that, the fact the spirits are established to have no gender in a similar fashion is a welcoming way for the game and its community to be open to different genders.
Take the skykid for example, they are neither a 'boy' or 'girl'. They are just that, a child.
I do recall in an interview with Jenova Chen, that he explained the reason why the skykid is just a child because it allows any player that joins the game not have to be stigmatised based on their gender.
In older games, being a 'girl gamer' would create tension when dealing with male gamers.
Even if that would be the original reason for a genderless skykid, it also presents an opportunity to welcome people that do not have to follow the male/female gender identities.
Yes
The lack of confirmation really bugs me as well bc either option paints the people who do gender spirits in entirely different lights. Like if everyone was fully up to interpretation, that’s fair. It would still make me sad/frustrated that most interpretations revolve around gendering them but like I said earlier, that’s a general society thing and not really something I can change. If they’re all canonically agender and people are just projecting their internal biases about gender onto them, though, that’s something that I would take issue with
the way i refer to spirits usually varies greatly depending on the situation. If i’m talking about the spirits as they show up in the actual game, lore surrounding spirits, anything like that, I try to stick to they/them. If i’m talking about a friend’s version of a spirit, say, he/they Prophecy Guide who works as an uber eats driver, then i’ll usually use those pronouns. it’s kind of complicated and idk exactly what i’m doing but pronouns ≠ gender anyways and i try to make it clear that i’m not “projecting whatever gender i want” onto a character just because they don’t have one
I dunno. I think it really is up to interpretation in the end. As long as no one steps on each others toes by being like “hey this is wrong” (when its not wrong bc there’s no right answer) then i think its good???
It can, what would you like to share?
I would love to share-
But I also see spirit gender/agender discussion would anyone like me to wait before sharing
Please wait
The person above me keeps shutting down any discussions on gender in Sky and it’s worrying
aight.
I literally said that because Salem admitted it was frustrating for them. Should I go get a screenshot?
I think I misinterpreted their intentions, then. ugh. Sorry, I am sick atm and it’s hard to focus
Alrighty.
Maybe you should get some rest
Ok @regal forge .
Fire away.
Ooh-
henlo uh
but yeah the way I refer to spirits varies quite a lot? depends on who I’m around. I have referred to them with potential leanings but even those can vary a lot, so uh. spirits never have anything set with how I refer
but yeah
the next valid thing to referring to every spirit as they/them is giving them pronouns that funks with gender, go off kings
oh no neopronoun time 👁️
oh yes
Correct me if I am wrong, them/they/their etc. usually means the person is either unknown (as in one has not yet determined their gender), or does not have one.
That and English is weird, so some words might not be a perfect fit to a specific situation. Though it is what we have to work with.
they/them is a gender neutral pronoun that can also refer to a specific known individual
They/Them/Their works for unknown, nonexistent, neutral, and plural, last time I checked. The swiss army knife of pronouns
you can use any pronouns you like no matter your gender
It's true stuff like gender and pronouns have an 'expected' way but ultimately humans are varied individuals. It's their identity, so it's how they want to be known that matters
how did you think polygender people got so powerful? corpse looters! /jjj
As a side note, ThatDisaster.
If you want to post your theory, one doesn't have to wait till the appropriate topic swings around every time. In general, one can wait till an active topic has run its course.
Lore chat is and has been a bit chaotic.
Just throw your theories into the lore void and see if we change the course of the ship
if a polygender person ever picks up my gender the only thing i ask is that they tell me what it is
