I love how everyone correctly headcanons them as feral
WH EEZE
THE MICROWAVE…..
they would be blurry like a cryptid in a picture not even visible. like a vaguely humanoid grainy arrangement of pixels (That’s how I’m describing my gender from now on)
Air Prophet hacked Facebook
zuckerbergs #1 enemy
a gay bat
air prophet IS the technological difficulties
water prophet has a dishwasher, earth prophet has a vacuum, air prophet has a clothesline, and fire prophet has a microwave
what are they, rotoms?
I LEGIT USED THAT EXACT PICTURE FOR THE CRAB DRAWING HKKHKLJJLJJHK
handing one of these bad boys 2 fire proph
earth prophet posts grainy pictures of themselves on Twitter… using their microwave
Fun fact the Russian is pronounced "droog" and it may mean "friend"
THIS!
DoB did this
Did they befriend Entei
Friend🥺💖💜💗💘💗💗💜
i know for a fact if they saw entei their first though would b to try and pet it
Fire Prophet is pure of heart, I bet it would allow it.
It looks a lot like Greek, are they related??
just attempted to google "can you pet entei" and my caps lock was accidentally on, possessed by fire prophet
HELP
Cyrillics !
Hm?
Greek and Russian alphabets look similar yes.
same 🤝 I was taking a nap
proud of yall
Fritjof: how did you survive in the Wasteland for so long?
CW: spite.
F: I don’t believe ye.
CW: about 5 dozen crabs, too.
F: to eat?
CW: no, they were my roommates.
F: I’ll go with spite.
Eating this new fic fragment whole like an onion ring
Crab Whisperer would give others powers without telling them
Oh so THATS what happened to laidback pioneer
quick which cape should I wear for Laidback
gay cape
if you don’t have the gay cape do a black one
me do not have :(
ooo good idea
I was gonna go with whatever cape is the smallest like Angler's fishnet cape
once pioneer comes back I'm staying up to reset to table them. they are not safe
laidback pioneer is goffic 👍
shoutout to the fact pioneer has been to the underworld can’t get over that
Crab Whisperer had to go get them
On one hand, That hint is hilarious. On the other… hasnt thst technically happened to every spirit
COMING WITH YOU
NEED to see that
they took a wrong turn heading to sky Mcdonalds and accidentally drove straight into the depths of hell
Alasdair can u give us more king
pov pioneer looks into a mirror and sees a dead person
ok but pioneer has gone to the great beyond AND has gone to the underworld and returned. that's not normal
okay but this implies that seeing dead people is not a common trait in Sky which has fun implications culturally
My take on the TS hints is that they haven’t done anything special. They just went to orbit once after ascending and they’re being really dramatic about it
pioneer food criminal moment
never getting over how Nod is implied to have HowToBasic style cooking
that’s why they got sent to the underworld
HELP
ARE YOU ALRIGHT
remember with Crab Whisperer killed someone and get rewarded for it?
Fritjof: you’re their prisoner but you have your own room?
CW: after they let me out, they put me in the barracks with the rest of the crew. That night, I crept out and killed the one the crewmembers in their sleep.
Fritjof: you what
CW: I'll be honest, I didn't mean to kill them. I may have been... overenthused at the opportunity.
Fritjof: so you killed one of them and they gave you your own room for it?
CW: first they locked me in jail again. Then they decided I was better off locked up for the nights. So now I have the first mate's bed. Funny how that works.
They got sent to the underworld 🙁
I love playing around with this, imagine a random spirit catching a ride on pioneer's boat because they're a ghost, they shouldn't be visible. And pioneer just stares at them the whole time
this is one of my favorite fic tidbits genuinely
i want to hug them but i also wanna enable them
fear Fire Prophet Microwave Form. That is all I will say
pirates: we've definitely got Blue Crabby obeying us and being one of our own now. let's put them in the barracks with the rest of the crew to show we respect them as much.
CW: murders one of the pirates.
pirates:
I don't have a lot of new content cos I've been feeling unproductive and dead all week but I"m trying
hint hint – this gives me the same vibes as "hello Jon, sorry for the deception"
Crab Whisperer: "First of all, through indescribable violence anything is possible, so jot that down."
the book that this is being written in is called 50 ways to deal with your life issues with Creb whisperer-
Crab Whisperer was feral yet figuratively a pacifist until the pirates got them
How to deal with your life issues: be a light wizard
method 2: you can never have too many crabs
Woe, crab be upon ye.
Wait... Sorry for interrupting, but if Performance Guide's full animal mask means they're a 'professional' while their crews' means they're proteges... does this mean Rhythm Guide isn't a professional yet despite being twins?
Ash also said that since rhythm was the first season (technically that was winter 2018, which got revamped for rhythm) they were still figuring out those kinds of worldbuilding rules
they just died in their sleepwear
saving this for later
Spotted.
yep, pretty much! I can offer you this though: the style of mask Rhythm guide, Juggler, Dancer and a number of event spirits though was intended to be one of the general "common masks" for ancestors
I saw it as a kinda specific group thing; interesting
I think you could still go that angle with it!
It's interesting how Performance guide got triangles on their cheeks like this mask too !
The four elements
That they weren't a professional yet? I'm a lil confused
or if you prefer to give dreams or rhythm guide a giant family tree, then thats ok too
this was intentional 👀
Ah, sorry for confusion! I was responding to Voluntary there
Thank you. I tried to process what was going on and my head train wrecked
trust me. I have two absurd family trees......one starts with Sightseer, then their child Off-Season/Sleepy Traveller (I think they're the same), and their cousin Sanctuary, and then it kinda spirals from them because what if the Sanctuary-event-related spirits are related to them and then that might end up combining the wacky tree of the Belonging family whom have ties to Dreams and Performance and more......it is a Mess
Baud I’m so sorry
Oh ash, speaking of their mask, is the bottom supposed to be closed (like a plague doctor mask) or open (like admiring actor's mask) ?
Because the former is the case in-game while the latter seems to be on (your) official art
I just realised performance guide, musician and storyteller doesnt have fingers🖐🏿🖐🏿🖐🏿🤨
Or are they wearing fashionable gloves?
just to throw a guess out there, maybe the rhythm spirits with bird masks (greeter, actor, pianist, and director) were the troupe members with the most experience in entertainment, whereas spin dancer, rhythm guide, and juggler were newer to the scene (but still pros)
in-game graphics dislike rendering fingers
Rhythm is a traveling troupe like a circus right? It'd make sense to have masks that don't get in the way for them tbh
also the animal mask lore has been living in my brain since you said it
Sky's biggest ennemy, fingers.
I think thats a great take on it!
You could also envision Rhythm guide as the "manager" of the troupe, so since theyre not in an active performing role such as Actor etc, they may have not needed a more elaborate mask
Rhythm guide could've been a director too, of a sorts
OH MY GOD I WAS WONDERING
BECAUSE BOTH THE OWL MASKED SPIRIT AND THE PERFORMANCE GUIDE ARE DIRECTORS
ok hi question
does this mask tradition only apply to performers? or can animal masks be 'earnt' from other occupations
Since Rhythm is a revamp of the OG Winter season, worldbuilding has evolved a lot since that season was first made! So some of these earlier seasons get a little funky when you try to apply current sky lore stuff to them
it applies to all creature masks!
Ash jumpscare

WHAT ON EARTH DOES THIS. MEAN
i think "officially" its like the ingame model but feel free to adjust things to your personal sense of style!
So creature items are earned?
tempted to create a spirit of my own (the fourth fully developed spirit OC) whom is a mask maker thanks to this, and give some animal masks to the ones I already have as a sort of. as if they were to be awarded
They can signify something about that spirits occupation or role in life, yes
Then how do skids earn creature items? Some spirits look at these babies and go 'I see the soul of a professional in you' lol
wondering about the gratitude masks then, bc I absolutely love dismiss and shaman's masks, big goofy grins
i think i will take your advice, everyone needs to see my skykid doing a mischievous :3 face
I've been thinking their masks don't cover their mouths so they'd be able to be heard easier without a mask obstructing their voice. the longer beaks in them would cover the view of their face
I think thats a good opportunity to let you/the player envision how your skykid character earned the mask. I personally love it when games let me inject my own stories onto characters and backstories instead of forcing it a certain way. So I think in this case it can be up to your creative skills!
this is off-topic but uh.
how does the blinking work
I have my own headcanons but I am curious as to what's intended. I believe there are eyelids on the masks or something
Oh sorry, that wasn't a genuine question I was just having a giggle at the idea
How i imagine spirits or sky kid eating through a mask
Don’t the masks have eyeholes and they’re just blinking normally?
but how
their eyes open and shut sometimes
skykids blink so they have eyelids just like us
Recently I had the thought of instead of eating the tea cakes through their masks (or just taking them off and this not being shown visually) that the skids just smashed cake all over these 'mouth' area of the mask and a spirit would come wipe them off.
im a little late but fingers are the artists curse and that applies to sky too, its just a model thing bc it looks better bc things like this will crop up
good lorf
WHO'S HAND IS ON THE RIGHT ARE THEY OK??
oi what the hell
i was drawing my point to illustrate my question in case i wasnt clear enough but it seems ash understood me anyway
have performance guide anyway
Bless their hands😹
I dont see any :3 face that you mentioned :/
those hands are beyond blessing i think not even megabird can save them
how dissapointing to be let down 😔
cursed hands edit revoked by blessed doodle
emotes were not meant for hands with fingers
At least theyre not actor
IM SO SORRY I REMOVED IT
actor w fingers one of the most cursed things in sky alone
I love the idea of a mask maker spirit and I think thatd be an occupation thatd fit within the world of sky!
Speaking of mask making-the 4 spirits in performance crew made the ones theyre currently wearing!
team building exercise
are they aware i would die for them
OH THATS CUTE, did storyteller make the comedy/grin (the one in the qg tree) mask also?
Make them as mysterious as HK’s maskmaker
Mellow made their mask with narrow eyeholes so if they fell asleep no one could tell
genius
I guess I do have one question in that regard actually. Is the mask Performance Guide sells after the second quest meant to be our mask, or is it just a gameplay thing to let us have that mask
mellow musician has bad eyesight rip
GALAXY brain
gonna say how much I love the comedy mask
such a simple thing as eye shape conveys so much mischief and expressiveness. I love it so much that I've adapted that expression to a skykid OC of mine even though that isn't the mask ze wears
imagine Playfight's but with that eye smile. that's the idea
Mask maker will be really cool! I imagine they must be very respected in sky.
i always wonder what materials the masks are. Like if they are craved like wood masks, or moulded or magically formed. Or does every spirit got their own unique design masks, even with same occupation, everyone got a different one
the mask convo made me remember a hc that when it comes 2 masks for ancestors n stuff sometimes important ones would b like
passed down thru generations n stuff
I think it was said somewhere that the basic masks are probably carved from stone (and the mask in the switch trailer certainly seems like stone), but that's all I got
Isn’t stone like heavy tho
they have very strong necks
Sky’s stones can fly in the air 😆
Given sky's mechanics, weight might not be as much as an issue in their world. Ancestors seem stronger than humans anyway (skids too sometimes)
maybe it varies? perhaps the basic mask is carved from wood (sure looks like it) while the others may be molded from clay or reshaped metal
I always just dismissed it as a Weird Fantasy Thing but actually how do masks stay on people's faces?
WHO MENTIONED WEIGHT AGAIN
the sweetest fun fact, i love the idea of them out of their costume, making their mask
though
does that imply performance guide DIDN'T make their mask ?
Don't speak
@white junco You can use a type of glue to put mask on stringless. That's a thing.
ok but consider: facepalm lvl 3
ok since the idea is Ash-approved I shall go think up my mask maker 👀
it's you that first brought up weight all these months ago. Now it's a prevalent force, always lurking in the shadows. Physicschat will rise again
Not if I get Wasteland Elder to smush u like a bug
perhaps they didn't – their mask is one of the most elaborate masks we've seen so far. they must've been very well-renown in the artist scene to get such a fancy mask. perhaps they could've designed it or it was gifted to them from their community. though this doesn't preclude the option that they made it themself.
I really like the idea of Performance Guide being actually pretty well known, but then they intentionally took a bunch of amateurs under their wing because they saw potential. It's very sweet.
They are very well known?
We don't know.
Stagehand gave them the paint
My headcanon is that they were quite popular in the Village of Dreams, but not much else
we don’t really know how popular or well-known any of the ancestors were during their lives. which is why I find it interesting how the audience is filling in after every Performance quest
Word of mouth about the play is clearly spreading, which is why quest 4 is so funny.
Valley Residents: 'Guys you gotta see this new theater troupe it's awesome'
Performance Crew: 'We suck so bad and the audience totally knows it'
stage fright
Same
Mood
It's the 'they've lost confidence in themselves' and that the last 3 quests were helping solve their problems that detaches it from stage fright to me.
Which is stage fright
yeah that's literally stage fright
Huh, thanks
I hope the next quest is for the dancer, every other spirit had one!
It would make sense, but it's also the finale so maybe not. We'll see
“Dance with Modest Dancer.”
Skykid: spin dancer emote lvl 3, breakdancing
Dancer:
i'd do really tacky dances just to cheer them up, they sound like a sweetheart
I. Love this.
This is- I choke-laughed aloud and my sister asked what was wrong. I showed her. They stared, horrified.
omw..........how do sky kids eat and drink through that mask
supposedly the food we eat in sky is made of light. we might just absorb it
i don't think they have to eat or drink
Tbh, I'm off the faction that they just take the masks off
THEY MADE THEM??
I love that so much, what are they made of?? Imagining these guys giggling as they get incredibly messy doing paper mâché is really cute fsr
I just mean like, with the tea table, they eat the cookies and they drink the tea, and they don't take their masks off
the tea table food is made of light. I have no idea about the tea but I suspect it is as well
we had a discussion about this earlier: I think that they just pretend to eat it and they don't gain any nutrients from it, so they don't eat it
Yeah, but the game doesn't even render them having fingers, so like, who wants an entire animation of the skids taking off their masks to eat every time they try to use the chat table? It'd be annoying.
the stuff being made of light makes sense.... but then how do the kids ingest it
absorb
why pretend tho lol
Because they're kids and kids like to mimic the adults around them
I mean...they are seen as "immortal" ||from them being able to live multiple lives. || They probably don't even need food.
both explanations make sense...
I'm pretty sure the wisteria tea table and/or the grandma belonging event are at least partially based on this comment from Jenova Chen
That is reasonable and how they maintain their light source other than wax
'Light' really doesn't work in sky like it does on earth. They have regular 'light' like sun beams and all that, and then they have 'light' that is an actual substance of some sort.
light creatures 🤝 dark creatures
eating light
whether they actually need food is a diff topic, i'd def say that they prob don't just cuz we don't have a hunger bar lol
We don't have hunger bars in lots of games. Nor the need to go to the bathroom. I don't think the absence of it is worth much
liquid anti-gravity light lol so cool.... I wish we could cateogrize it pfft
unfortunately I must depart from this funny convo cuz ✨ homework ✨
did anyone dare to mention gravity
Silence
your suffering won't stop me
Imagine a place in sky or a mechanic with no gravity. That would be awesome ngl
Lorechat is a math and gravity free zone
Ok let’s not joke about ptsd tho as it is an actual thing
Physics is nonexistent in lore period.
We have insufficient data to calculate it. It is a forbidden topic
We ain't gonna make a game theory.
Not related to this at all but I just experienced something and it made me think: imagine feeding the mantas. Coming outside with... whatever they eat. Seeing some already waiting for you. Having a special call for when it's feeding time. Do you think people like manta whisperer and light whisperer did stuff like that?
That would be not far off.
Like people do pigeons? Sky has normal birds too, so they might have done those instead. Mantas are kinda big to be doing that with
I was thinking more of like, squirrels and that one guy that feeds racoons. But birds work too
@covert carbon
dunno if I will post this in meme channel as idk how to caption but
IT WONT LET ME PLAY!!!
Forbidden video
HELP THIS IS ACCURATE
saving it on my everywhere
@frigid tinsel
CRYING
THANK YOUUUU!!!!
Amazing!
I WAS LITERALLY HOPING THIS WAS THE AUDIO U WREE USING WHEN U MENTIONED AN EDIT BLESS YESS CHEERING
YOU’RE WELCOME CJJDJFJF
HAHA
omg i'm cackling sdln
I’ve never related to a collage so much in my life tears are running down my face
WAIT. combined with the whole thing about their masks being similar to performance guide’s, does this imply that they made them similar to their teacher’s as like an expression of admiration?? because if so that’s absolutely adorable
Alternatively: they did it as a prank somehow
I am kicking myself a bit over missing the mask conversation, I have been thinking about mask lore a lot recently. Man
there's quite a bit to think about regarding masks. it's interesting cos whereas in our irl culture, faces and facial expressions are considered rather important, perhaps in ancestor culture faces would not be.
where we consider our faces rather significant to our self-image, perhaps ancestors considered their masks equally so since their masks, like our faces, represent how they present themselves to the world. since animal masks represented certain jobs, I wonder whether they wore those masks all the time or only when they were on duty. we irl consider careers important to our identities, so why not the ancestors?
Combine that with my headcanon the Performance guide is the sentimental kind
Performance guide dramatically letting themselves fall to their knees, clutching their heart at the sight of their protegees wearing masks that p much show their gratitude to them
Ooohhhhh idea-
Making your mask is a kind of coming-of-age thing? And it has a lot of meaning
Problem is, some adult-looking ancestors have no mask. So, first thing that came to mind was angst: when you’re in mourning of a close loved one you don’t wear your mask.
Side note, on the topic of mask materials: I would initially guess a lot of them were painted wood originally, but in the same fashion as a lot of the bookshelves and trees in Sky, petrified and now they’re stone. It’s an easy material to carve and manipulate, and it’s lightweight.
HOWEVER. the weight of each mask wouldn’t matter as much in this world due to lower gravity. That’s how stone masks like the ones from prophecy (iirc they were confirmed to be stone?? even if it wasn’t direct, they do look a lot like carved stone) could be worn on a day to day basis without being way too heavy. It’s entirely possible that most masks are made out of stone.
Option three is metals. Another thing to notice is that some of the gratitude masks and the days of fortune masks have accents of gold in them, such as the teeth in greeting shaman’s mask. The shine of the whale masks in valleu and wasteland make them look like they’re made of iron or a similar metal.
Kindergarten craft is making a paper-mâché mask
💙
I thought this for a while just based on the last dreams quest but. The little kid in confident sightseer’s memory has a prairie pot mask (which is why I think they’re tourists from prairie but that’s Another topic) which raises some issues there hmmm…
Yeeeaahhh it’s more of a fun little idea than an actual theory since it has sooo much in-game contradiction
i love all of them so much, i know i say that about every bird spirit but i love that i saw my old theater class somehow
It’s weird because if masks are mostly based on jobs, the coming of age idea seems like it would be a natural conclusion, right? Because you grow up, get a job, and boom mask. So they’d kinda be related.
We could also apply the rhythm logic of “masks weren’t fully fleshed out yet” to confident sightseer’s kid, I’m realizing …
this is so cute I am 💛 I love how concerned stagehand looks
Ohhh right, mask lore wasn’t heavily fleshed out for ever and ever XD
but their mask stays the same throughout growing up (assuming they're
)
...how so
I don’t know. They’re like 5-6 at the oldest in that spirit memory. If the coming of age thing is true for them and had already been fleshed out, then that implies the dreams skater, who we SAW receiving their mask, is like. a toddler
perhaps a lot of the base-game spirits don't have masks because they took them off around the time of their deaths due to exertion? we don't know the materials of the masks, but it's possible if they were too thick, it could be hard to breathe with them on or their sweat or breath perspire on the back of their masks and became sticky. we also don't know how exactly ancestors wore their masks – did they cling to their skin or did they have straps wrapped around their heads or something else?
some concept notes say the Valley Elder(s) have simple masks because they're athletes. maybe other ancestor athletes wore simple masks as well, but not wearing a mask could also be acceptable for anyone doing physical exercise. a lot of the Valley spirits who don't wear masks are playing sports. Confident Sightseeker and their child seem to be hiking.
in Forest, Dismayed Hunter is, well, hunting. that would involve stalking prey, running, plus having to focus with their bow. the masks have eye holes but if they shift out of place, it could block their view. Tearful Light Miner and their companions are mining underground where air may already be thin and mining is a very strenuous activity.
I actually had the opposite idea funnily enough!! About wasteland spirits wearing masks (esp ones over their nose like scarecrow farmer) to help them breathe and filter the air in the smog. Plus with dust and dirt particles from mining you’d think it’d apply to tearful. Hmmm
so thus why do Champion and Medallist have these fancy headdresses? maybe they're more so ceremonial pieces for when sports aren't actually on
OOO MAYBE THEY'RE TROPHIES,, THESE HEADPIECES ARE BRAGGIGN RIGHTS
A side note. Some of the masks have visible straps, I believe greeting shaman’s does as an example! I don’t think they’re visible in all just so that they wouldn’t have clipping issues with hair and make outfits look weird, but they’re implied to exist
well, of course - I assumed such
Alasdair mentioned it as an offhand thing in his text wall, and I realized I forgot to mention it in the materials section, so I added it rq
I've been considering that too. masks act as a good filter. though with Scarecrow Farmer, they're wearing a neckgaiter and some other spirits have masks with fabric over them. maybe those are just cultural. maybe the full-face masks don't block the air that much, hence the need to cover the lower half of their masks.
yeah assuming the Enchantment veils are from where the crew are from more than anything else
though Waving Bellmaker has a veil. same idea, different origin and thus style and creation and purpose
I had an idea a while ago that If the civilization started in isle, then the masks could have been to keep sand out of their face and eyes. the thing is that not only did the switch trailer kill that headcanon, it buried it as well
Wait wait so masks are related to the spirits' jobs again? I remember somebody mentioning that masks related more to the spirit's personality during a convo that involved Peeking Postman... But my memory isn't that good so if anyone else remembers such a conversation please tell me that this isn't my brain just making things up
HUH I like that!
Ash confirmed that animal masks indicated the ancestors’ jobs
they do fly across a desert before reaching the green isle tho
THAT LITTLE DETAIL HAS BOTHERED ME SO MUCH. is it showing isle in the process of desertifying and the green patch is just what’s left?? did they come from outside entirely? and if so did everyone migrate to isle and start the new kingdom or do we loop back to the other civilizations problem? I’m really hoping the animated series answers these questions
where did you come from where did you go…
where did you come from cotton eye joe
maybe the rest of the world was experiencing a crisis that made them unliveable but our Sky kingdom was still prospering, so many outsiders immigrated there.
Isle in the Switch trailer is a grassland. Sure the people in the trailer are travelling over a desert, but that’s not where they arrive.
Another importsnt note I would like to add is theres little pillars sticking up through the sand, which look like trail markers, that the people follow. Implying that the route to isle is well known enough for them
stuff might be underwater like in abyss
cairns
Underwater village?! town?! 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔 maybe a lost kingdom
yeah, this makes sense for the direction the spirits came from in the trailer! Based on the angle they see the land formations from they would’ve had to travel over what is now ocean
Based off this idea, does anyone have ideas for any other animal mask jobs?? [yeah, I know it’s probably limited to performers! but I can dream]
My only idea is snake masks for doctors and veterinarians :-)
Forest Elder still has their lynx mask over their temple entrance.
OHHH I LOVE THAT IDEA . SO MUCH.
just imagining a bunch of buff blokes carrying heavy tools and metal with kitten faces like so
This implies Daleth is a performer and idk if it's great for their back but I forgot we have ancestor bird geezer rep with dancing performer
The kitten mask is for apprentices, kinda like performance masks
Small manta call spirit, call them...
Warbler kid
warblerkit
warbler apprentices omg look at that face
The only counter argument I can think of to the whole idea that it’s limited to the performers are the prophets having animal masks. I’m not sure what each one is supposed to represent, beyond water (turtles are onviously associated with patience and water) and fire (lion association with fire and courage) but I’ve never seen spiders associated with resilience &/or bats symbolizing balance before
Spider rebuild their webs a lot
the animal masks could have multiple meanings hence usages, even if they're distinct
Yeah! The resilience association makes sense for them, I just haven’t seen it anywhere before. The one that is getting me the most is air
Oh my god
Itsy bitsy spider
Resilience
bats are simple, they just hang on good, symbolizing balance
OHHH THAT EXPLAINS IT
Air is bc bats are airborne + can be upside down
I have a horrible idea. Hear me out. Batlance
That pun is the only reason why air has a bat mask
itsy bitsy spider went up the water spout. down came the rain and and washed the spider out. Out came the sun and dried up all the rain, and the itsy bitsy spider went up the spout again
does this imply that earth and water prophets got into a fight, and the fire prophet had to calm them down
No they’re dating I bet
isn't there a statue in one of the Trials that's headless? as if it were broken?
i know but, like enemies to lovers
The furry prophet polycule
prophecy guide is excluded (they want other relationships/ are ace)
Prophecy guide is their aroace platonic partner who makes sure everyone is fed
It isn’t an obvious association I would have made originally (like, if I thought about animals symbolizing balance I wouldn’t have immediately guessed bat) but this is the only explanation I can think of that makes sense. It could be due to them being really agile, which is needed for the air trial, but that’s less obvious than what you said
I am really curious to know who thought of the bat = balance idea?? Is it based off a story or a general symbol that I’ve never heard of before?

bats do hang upside down
spiders being resilience wasn’t the first thing I would have thought of because I associate them more with hubris instead. which is a funny idea when you apply it to earth prophet so I will let you all enjoy it
they all connect. Trials connect to the wisdoms which connects to the emotes which connects to the elements which connects to the masks
The myth of arachne ? I like itsy bitsy spider better tbh, it's cute
depending on the telling, Arachne wasn't resilient won't they lost
Yeah!! I like resilience better here in this context, it makes more sense. It’s just what I remembered first :-}
There is a different bug I’d associate more with resilience but I can’t say it’s name in this server :{
oh no that would look horrific
These ?
Yes, those beasts
this is earth prophet's cursed cousin
You all are cowards. Imagine earth prophet with big long antennae on their mask like an even stronger and fancier version of the performance eyebrows
now that I’m thinking about it. it’s reasonably possible that they could have chosen a spider mask instead for the sole reason of yknow. Being able to fit in the cave
rhomphaea fictilium masks when. If you don't know what that is then good
maybe the resilience is not the spider itself but their web? spider silk is incredibly strong in order to catch and hold struggling prey. it is in part in how stick they are but the threads themselves are very durable. back in the day, it wasn't uncommon to use spider webs as bandages over small wounds.
What about those beetles with them horns?? Forgot what they’re called
Also I don’t actually know what we’re talking about I just think bugs are cool and I’m glad to share that
I would kill for a rhinoceros beetle mask
I like these insects, they're funny to look at. People freak out seeing them in the wild bc they are considered pests but you gotta appreciate they are very effective at eating litter and trash.
Fed one a fry once to see how fast it would eat it.
horned beetles
Totally!! They’re so pretty!! Though if I hear a single thing buzz by my ear I will turn to dust
Hey, do you want to know a book series where they used cobwebs to bandage up w— [A hidden sniper shoots me, killing me instantly].
I LOVE BEETLES SO MUCH THEY ARE SO CUTE AND STRONG
you can't talk about insects without leaving out ants
I think insects are cool, just not on me nor in my bathroom
Beetles are gods favorite children :-) my favorite insects are bees but I appreciate them all
I have a soft spot for mantises bc I raised some.
lemme guess, Warrior Cats?
prismatic lad
GAY BEETLE
raised!!! So cool!!!
GAY BEETLE!!!!
I'm crying, got sniped by the bot over the dumbest attempt at humor.
each of us have a specific insect we love
Earth prophet is the designated person to pick up bugs when they venture into the cave and take them outside to release them
Just don't look up what these guys eat.
oh right the crap beetles
HOW ARE YOU NOT GETTING CENSORED
Moths count as insects, right?
The reason I like bees is because we have a bunch of flowers outside and everytime I go out to admire them, a bumblebee comes over to say hi and sometimes bump into me as well :-)
I watched too much hollow knight
"crap" isn't censored 👌
Can you say dung in this server
yes but we all love moths
Bug fables good, protag is a polite beetle with a big heart
baaa humbaaaaa
What about fireflies?
You would not believe your eyes–
If they met each other, the average skykid and the little bug guy from hollow knight would immediately go to war
IF TEN MILLION FIREFLIES-
TGC fireflies when
Lit up the world as you fall asleep 🎵
moth with yellow cape and moth with black cape. Easy firefly, they even fly around wildly
Spade likes fireflies
I just realized I was in lore chat and not fanart-
When did I get this lost
should I stay? I like it here
New friend Pancakes!!! Woo!!!!!
Prairie Elder is definitely the resident firefly lover in the Sky world. Everyone else tries really hard to fulfill their goals of fireflies everywhere
Bug season when?
Cuz they’d fill the open air-
Prairie elder named a firefly at one point
You cannot change my mind /lh
side note but I do have to wonder the lore reason why some spirits have animal masks and some dont. The abyss spirits briefly had animal masks in development and I wonder why it didn’t carry over to the final version. Why don’t the assembly spirits have animal masks, for example?
And leave teardrops everywhere
You’d think me rude, but I would just stand and…
It could be a stylistic choice. For example, Assembly spirits look up to the Lightseekers, so they wear masks based on them
Stare..
I mean yeah. But why didn’t the lightseekers get animal masks as well
crab whisperer would be too powerful with an animal mask. But a meta reason could be so that they would appear different from the Gratitude spirits
Crab mask
I’d like to make myself believe…
That planet earth turns slowly🌏
It’s hard to say that I’d rather stay awake when I’m asleep
Cuz everything is never as it seems…
their concept masks correlated with their jobs too. in this notes for the mechanic, which would become Boatswain, they were thinking between a monkey mask to refer to them handling tools or a beetle mask cos the mechanic was as "blind to their surroundings" as beetles.
When I fall asleep..
YEAHH THATS WHAT I WAS THINKING OF. The abyss spirits clearly aren’t performers so the fact that animal masks were even considered is saying a lot, right? So if the animal masks are open to all or most jobs and aren’t limited, why don’t more spirits have them?
One thing I've noticed is that season alternate between animal mask and non animal mask. No 2 seasons have animal masks in a row. Is it possible they saved animal masks for Performance spirits?
Cuz I’d get a thousand hugs-
From ten thousand lightning bugs
As they try to teach me how to dance
(I think)
there's also the gunner, which would become Cannoneer. they had a krill-themed mask and krill medallions to "honor the enemies they fight." perhaps ancestors post-apocalypse faced a lot of krills, so it was important to have a gunner on the ships to shoot down hostile creatures or even to protect fortresses.
which makes me think about how Wasteland Elder has a hairstyle resembling a krill.
A foxtrot above my head
dark lord canonneer
A sock hop(?) beneath my bed
A disco ball is just hanging by a thread
I’d like to make by self believe
That planet earth turns slowly…
It’s hard to say that I’d rather stay awake when I’m asleep
can yall not do this? it fills the channel with spam
Ah crumbs I gotta go to bed
Ah, apologies, we shall stop
Sorryy
You’d think the flight and sanctuary spirits would absolutely adore animal masks, but they don’t have them. It’s so confusing. The only other “animal masks” I can think of are the ones similar to whales in valley+wasteland so I guess those count as well?? But why do only some get them… still confuses me to no end
Oops! Sorry guys
maybe their jobs weren't consider professional?
See ya later! Can’t count tomorrow because idk if I’ll stop by
I’ll work on that
Forest elder has an animal mask above their temple so why don’t the other elders?? Confusion
gratitude, prophecy, some of prince, and performance gets it. Lorewise it could be due to differences in culture, gameplay wise it could be to increase cosmetic diversity?
granted not every player wants or likes animal masks
True true
This makes a lot of sense at first but when you extend it does it imply that not all of the rhythm spirits habe animal masks because they don’t have real jobs or something. being a juggler isn’t a REAL job /hj
they clearly didn't make enough money to buy rent.
This is probably the real reason, to be honest.
Definitely skittles though
I should probably go to my missing assignments that are quite literally due tomorrow
See y’all later!
Beckoning ruler is the only tlp spirit with a mask I think and it’s a frog. I am also baffled at the possible symbolism behind that choice as well but I recognize I’m probably jumping around all over the place with what I’m talking about, so sorry fisksnalskdn
I promise it all makes sense in my head, but when I type it out it sounds like I’m throwing darts at a keyboard
frogs are cool.
Frog king
perhaps interacting with light creatures was so common – at least in the early years – it was a given. everyone looked after light creatures because they were apart of nature, one with nature. light creatures were part of their community or almost everybody had a light creature they considered a pet. people who devoted themselves to light creatures weren't really that special when everyone cared for their welfare.
even as power diamond manufacturing involved a lot of animal cruelty, it was still considered interacting with light creatures to some capacity. even as ancestors saw themselves apart from nature as industrialization often does, that sentiment still remained. cultural mores can be hard to change.
OOOOO this is a really neat idea!! Thank you for the explanation :0
As I read it all I can think of is how neat it is that the same reasonings can produce different conclusions. I would guess that instead of not being special, people whose job was taking care of lgiht creatures would be extremely respected, because obviously people in that society would care about the creatures a lot if they’re all taking care of them. But I can totally see your reasoning too, how they’d be a part of life similar to how we treat cars or batteries or whatever, and no one really regards them as particularly important
From what we've seen so far, to me it kinda looks like the Frantic Stagehand is treated poorly by the other Performance Spirits.
I'm pretty sure I just got the wrong impression...
what gave you that idea?
Like, did you see them carrying all of that stuff?
One other spirit carried one small thing that fell and the Frantic Stagehand seemed eternally grateful!
They have to run around the entire back area to pull the levers constantly.
you’re misremembering this one
And the other spirits got mad at them for messing a few things up, but not when a certainly musician didn't show up to their performance at all until it was over. Like, the other bands members were mad but it felt more like play mad
That's Stagehand's job though.
Performance Guide should probs hire a second stagehand tho (unless we're the second stagehand)
Oh. Okay, that explains some things
Good point, all of the spirits and elders are in violation of child labor laws.
We must boycott until we are paid
Sky kids are a surprisingly competent workforce, and u don't even have to pay them if you convince them it's a game
Even if Mellow took a bit to go help Stagehand, they still went and helped. Perhaps Mellow was thinking Stagehand got it but took a while to realize otherwise or Mellow is just slow to act as per their name.
N-no, that's not.... children shouldn't be put into forced labor even if they get money. I don't blame the parents that need to do so to afford the bare necessities, but rather blame (society? Government?) For making it the only way the family can survive
Yeah, I thought it was a mix of mellow not paying attention/waiting a bit before realizing Stagehand really needed help
Everyone’s dead, yknow
this is like the one time I feel like I can say it's not that deep
I feel like they missed my joke
Also, if I turn into a spirit, don't trust my spirit memories, I can't properly remember this once scene already, I doubt I'll be able to remember anything when all that remains of me is bone, rot, and decay.
dude are you ok
No
It was brought up once (I think by Salem) that Stagehand's memory was when Mellow helped them while Mellow's memory was when they kinda let stagehand down and it sticks with me
Maybe they’re different events? Spirit memories tend not to be how spirits recall the events but as the events transpired from a third person POV. For instance, Angler’s spirit memories depict a krill but they never saw it.
Yeah, I think they're different events. It's more about what was important to the spirits
Yeah, I started venting about genuine reality lol
For instance here’s Mellow’s memories showing them helping Stagehand carrying different items from Stagehand’s memories
Yeah. Tbh if I had to time these, I bet stagehand's happens first and then Mellow's.
Ok, I won't even have any memories for y'all to relive, cause I totally forgot that scene and am still trying to remember it
projecting a little onto mellow musician, I sense ADHD
Spirit memories look like they’re in third person POV so wouldn’t rely on your recollection of events
? How was I projecting onto them? If I had been projecting onto any spirit during this conversation then it probably would've been the Frantic Stagehand. I mean, I'm not projecting onto them either, but it makes more sense to me than the mellow musician since the whole conversation started cause I thought the Stagehand is treated relatively poorly
I'm not talking about you I'm talking about me
HAHA, JUST AS I MISSED ENNARCIA'S JOKE, YOU MISSED MINE!
Hey Amoeba, how long has it been since you slept?
Makes more sense
While I know time exists and isn't a human construct, I have no sense of it
Go to bed
someone needs to sleep
/gives you blanket
Whose to say this isn't just me sleep typing, or if even this entire world is merely a fabrication of my mind. No, but seriously, it's not been that long since last sneep snorp
You seem a bit hyped up so either you had too much coffee or you lack sleep
Nah, I just forgot to let my random thoughts out for a month or something
…wait coffee can do that? huh
Since dream village is near theater village, im imagining of a time the performance crew make a stage telling about the skater's story
Caffeine can also kind of do the opposite for some people
yeah i’m not really affected by stimulants lmao
Ok
Depends on the person. But I have definitely drank enough Caffeine to enter... a state, even if I'm normally unaffected as well.
For some people with, say ADHD, it can act like an extremely weak ADHD medication sorta
I've actually heard that before
Of course, actual ADHD medicine is much better and stuff, and not everyone with ADHD will benefit from caffeine, and other examples that I could not think of
Humans are varied creatures
some folks with ADHD use caffeine to self-medicate. It works sometimes but it is also a very bad idea do not do that unless there’s no other option
You guys evolved to eat things that had evolved to be poisonous
mmm poison
yummy poison
i think mellow musician could drink 7 cups of coffee and then go take a nap
I relate to them forgetting stuff easily and needing to nap constantly 😔
they’ve never walked into a room and remembered what they were doing, relatable
i forget what i’m doing when i open a tab on my computer 😔
I saw it before orbit
Wasn't sure where to put this but i have an oob question
Go ahead
is this channel used for keeping it alive using memes and other stuff if not active?? im wildly confused lmao
Keeping what alive? The channel itself? It's just a channel full of people who like sky lore. But we're people, not robots, so sometimes we get off topic, and then get back on topic later.
ok
I have a question! What is that the eye of Eden, is that a star stone dropping from sky?
only just saw this. so excited
bobbit
Hush, you're disturbing my beauty sleep!
XD
Hey @queen pike, do you think people like me?
Welp, going out to lunch, good luck with getting gratification, Skybot.
Are there differences? Eden backdrops
colors are different, my guess is that the harmony hall one isn’t finished
Is the eye of eden the name for the long ago king???

My take is eye like center of the storm but it could be what you wrote too.
Hello, does anybody have any theories on what happened in wasteland? I'm confused a bit about it
(Headcanon) It used to be a city with industrial regions, and when the place got polluted, it all went down hill.
(also headcanon) the place is under the Eden storm, which explains why the sky is green.
ohh fair enough
does anybody know about the factions that were fighting? I see a diamond shield and a light shield, tsadi holds the light shield
it seems weird to me though? I feel like tsadi should have the diamond shield?
No one knows for sure what the diamond and sun sides were fighting for or what side Dusk took
There is a thought that Dusk Elder switched sides at some point in the war
ohhh, okay
are there any theories about it?
I always find myself wondering about it.
Reading by symbolism alone, the diamond side might’ve supported power diamonds and darkstone techbology with the sun side opposed it, considering light sacred
hmm that's fair
by the way, where do people find that old concept art? I browsed the tom zhao artstation, and also saw the 7 days of sky i believe it was called? but is there anywhere else that might have some concept art from early development that I could take a look at?
Oh I thought the war that happened in the wasteland was between the creatures of dark and the spirits???
Bernard returns to his home, the lorechat. Also why do skids have zero facial features. like they breathe!!??? If you look closely at the animation when lying down, you can see your skid's chest rise and fall so why do they have neither mour nor nose?
it might be a technical limitations thing
because they can eat and drink as we've seen but the models don't have the facilities for that
i mean they have eyes though? why no mouth or nose shape?
I think they do have the suggestion of a nose on the model but idrk
TGC probably had to accommodate the flat masks like the default, the assembly ones and chibi
Skykids do have nose contours on their faces
WOAH
uhhh personally I think they do a breathing ‘motion’ to appear alive (which they are. I mean via them being golems/glamim)
but don’t do so in such a way this implies
idk
They can breath if they can make little snoring sounds while asleep
is there a name for the creatures in the fire trial?
no, but oftentimes they're dubbed "worms"
Officially Shadows, if you look at discord emojis.

Some players would call them owls, smoke or even worms as Alasair said.
I… im reading a lot through lore, concept art and in game lore.
Now i cant stop crying anymore
why does sky story have to be so sad
There are two Spirits who i dont know are tho.
First is the Ferryman Ancestor, who shepherds the souls. He retired from his duty when the spirits where no longer connected to the megabird.
Now in our Era the ferryman ancestor is back and shows us on their way. For this i have the Isle Elder in Mind. I wonder if thats right ? What do you think ?
The second Ancestor im confused about is the Shaman who goes out to collect dark stones with the prince inside a Forbidden Forests (maybe the hidden forest is meant with that or just some part inside there?) but i dont know who the shaman could be. Does anyone have a clue ?
I mean there are a lot of theories but if someone has a similar one to mine maybe you could help me out with this one
Ferryman became isle elder yeah. I don’t know about shaman, I think they might’ve been scrapped completely
why did you ping me at 2AM?!
Because the bot got triggered at bobbits
Sorry, bud
two options forwho shaman ancestor might've become.
- Forest Elder due to association with the discovery of darkstone.
- Vault Elder due to the association with spiritual practices.
if it become forest elder would they be the shnyaman
I am so sorry everyone for that pun
Don’t apologize for that beautiful sentence
Hold on I don’t get it
Forest Elder is a furry
Specifically a cat furry
OOOHH
a lynx
cougar?
(I'll see myself out)
wait is there a source for this
It's based on the concept art, of where the elders were once Animal based bosses to fight. So technically it's not 'canon' but it is a running joke here
hello lore chat I have a thing,
shadows are just spicy air, and we die when we touch them in the fire trial, so sky kids are canonically can't handle spicy air, I leave you with this.
||please note I'm just joking ||
For the Lynx details, yes.
The cougar is just a joke.
So, I'm sure someone has already said this, but I just want to write it down in prep for my defense of crabs.
So, power diamonds are like fossil fuels because they are derived from light creates (animals). In sky, they can also be derived from capturing creatures and siphoning light. The diamonds mined from the reef (offshore oil rig) are just regular ff, and as expected the mine was abandoned and potentially run almost dry. I think the leviathan represents an oil spill too, because it consumes light creatures. It was probably a regular light creature that got infected too, like crabs (see friendly sanc island crabs).
Power diamonds are used with golden metal drums (machines?), which produce darkness and pollute water sources (sanc geyser).
Besides sanctuary (side area) crabs are first seen in the forest brook (storyline area). There is an incomplete pipe where crabs are found and I also suspect that the cavern with the hide spirit across the brook was also intended to have pipes put in but they never finished construction.
Okay that's all for now
ah
Shadows are made of pepper /hj
7 pillars in air trials, like number of elders + king
Heavily considering the theory that the trials themselves are the Prophecy. Isn't it what the season's intro said ? "Beware the ancient Prophecy" or something.
so it's like
[water]
[earth]
[air]
something something brave the darkness or whatever
I will still argue that fire is the true trial of patience
Did someone mention Prophecy
water is the trial of tall privilege
Honestly I never had that much trouble with water as a chibi tho
yeah, especially fire where you have to brave a world of darkness and stick close to the precious light you have at all times… really sounds like the post apoc world
Opinions:
Is stagehands hood just a mock of cat ears
Or
Are they a plot to hide that underneath the hood they have actual cat ears
I think it’s supposed to mimic the shape of a great horned owl’s tufts. Maybe penguins have a similar tuft shape I don’t know
Do we know what the animal masks might be?
Musician gives me badger energy in every way
Water trial has a beam, as well as a mountain that makes it look like Eden.
Earth trial has a beam too, but it looks like something has been built around it.
Air trial doesn't have a beam but it has 7 pillars (elders ?)
Fire trial has only darkness

Fire trial has the bane of my existence
worms
The Something built around it could represent the Eye or vault off the top of my head
worm off the string what crimes will they commit
put them back on the string
My theory
Water Trial: pre-industrialisation, Eden beam is as it should be
Earth Trial: beginnings of industrialization, ancestors try to use the Eden beam (by building structures around it)
Air Trial: the stars and elders fall (7 pillars)
Fire trial: darkness takes over
Remember my theory from a while back about the world starting to get really cold around the apocalypse because all the lgiht and warmth was being drained from it?? Maybe that’s why Air is so icy
OHHHH THAT COULD BE IT
Though maybe it's to reflect valley ? And why would water trial be frozen too then ?
I do get the feeling that around the time the king fell and the trials would have actually been used, things were already going haywire and the stars had fallen. That would imply that water and earth weren’t prophecies but stuff from the past, but I could be wrong in terms of timelines and all
Fire trail has this kind of vibe, ngl.
Hey y’all! I think I might have found something interesting in the new Harmony Hall.
In the room where the backdrops for the stage are made, we can see two backdrops when we walk in (1st pic). These are the two depicting Eden and Vault.
But, behind the painting of Vault, we can see another backdrop! I went to take a closer look and found out it’s another depiction of Eden! (2nd pic). This one is significantly more red than the other one present in that room. The Vault painting also seems more redish? It could just be the lighting, or the paintings not being fully done yet, but it stood out to me. Especially because there are two Eden backdrops in the room?
Do y’all have theories on this? Also maybe on how it seems like the Eden diamond already went “bad” on all the backdrops?
I know that the red Eden backdrop being the main one was confirmed to be a gameplay convenience thing, but I would guess that the gray version is before everything went bad :-) the Eye there looks normal and uncorrupted
I was a bit confused about the Eden backdrops, since the mountain does look broken in all of them?
the Eden backdrops could've been painting after the Eden calamity but before the ancestors went extinct
That would be very interesting! I think I remember seeing a theory here somewhere about the performance group trying to cheer people (and themselves) up during the hard times after the Eden calamity. (It made me kinda sad but in a good way hehe)
yes but why me specifically?
No idea, its a bit ironic come to think of it.
The bot would preach about getting enough sleep. But would ping random people.
¯_(ツ)_/¯
same vibes as the band that kept playing as the titanic sunk
That unfinished Eden painting in the music hall tho 👀👀👀👀👀👀 the Eden crystal was something that might have been around for a while before the disaster
stagehand frantically painting seconds before becoming a spirit
…
That actually seems like an accurate way for them to go hold on-
You know stage hand was in some kind of rush before they died they just scream anxious hurry
of course they're frantic they're the only person on crew for the entire theater
comic in which someone messes with the set and stagehand visits upon them the wrath of a thousand suns
are the seasonal spirits in quests and events like the lightseekers in days of bloom aware of themselves in that moment? like, the lightseekers are dead, but interacting with the world in bloom. were they there in forest before they died and that's just a memory? are they able to interact as spirits? or are they not there at all and our skids are just imagining it?
It was possible to interact with the spirits directly if you waited long enough. Laidback Light seeker would ask for head pats and Crab Whisperer would play fight with you.
so are they able to interact with us and be aware of themselves and their surroundings even as they're dead?
Yeah! It’s pretty cool. Basically the idea that I’m running under rn is that they can hang out in the Sky realms while they’re not in Orbit, though they are incorporeal.
We believe so yes. They're dead but in the undead way
But like- not the creepy version haha
they're spirits – yea, they're dead, but they still have an animate body and mind
ghost pals :]
They are tangible because we can hug and high five them… somehow. I’m not entirely sure how that works. Or how they feel when you touch them but
Id say that its their souls that couldnt accent. So maybe some of those souls can still interact with someone ?
Wait doesnt make sense… because in preformance area you can see the normal spirits also watching the show ?
Does that mean the spirits are watching in the present ? Or are we in the past ?!
except the lightseekers have already ascended. they came back down for Days of Bloom like Travelling Spirits do
oh, i see
i always thought that with the quests, you were helping them fulfill the things they didn't get to do when they were alive. like, the spirit isn't there with their alive personality interacting with you. instead, you were there with their spirit helping them as the spirit's mind watched, like an out-of-body thing.
it's kinda dark and light at the same time because
with this theory in mind, it means that the assembly kids died before they renovated and made the treehouse home;
the belonging family never managed to get reunited (i think reuniting was what you did in the quests?);
the performance troupe had bad performances (forgetful storyteller forgot their lines, musician fell asleep, etc);
and more
but it's also "light" because you helped that change and fulfill the ancestor spirit's wishes
there were a lot of holes in this "theory" i had but i thought it was interesting
The game is largely up to interpretation, so if that's what you think, knock yourself out.
Ok because this sounds so emotional and sad im a fan of this theory now
Like, stuff gets said in lorechat, but we have very little actual canon to go off of. Even our theories are shaky at best
the spirits are spirits in the present. while their spirit memories recount events when the ancestors were alive in the past, the animate spirits themselves are roaming the world now as spirits. they're dead – their living bodies perished – but we reawaken the spirits from darkness and help them ascend to the Light.
ancestor spirits also seem to have the ability to descend back to the world for a period of time, such as travelling spirits and Granny. this isn't like being reborn as skykids do because they're still visibly spirits, not living ancestors. but they have come back to the world for whatever reason. lightseekers did for Days of Bloom. Chill Sunbather did periodically for Days of Nature. Valley spirits must've heard about this theater performance that's going on and popped into the audience to see.
makes sense/
That seems to be the goal of some of the seasons, yeah! As examples I would list belonging, dreams, and performance.
However, some of the seasons seem to be more focused on restoration. Like, the spirits have already gotten to that point, but time ruined their efforts and made what they had crumble away. This holds true for assembly [I can’t remember the splash text off the top of my head, but I’m pretty sure the first one before you start restoring it confirms this, I’ll have to check — but also, the fact that you can see remnants of what was once there goes a long way towards it too], Flight, and to an extent prophecy [you restore the cave, but that may not be the whole reason you did the trials.]
Some seasons revolve around helping the questgiver remember who they are so that they can ascend. Often, this category overlaps with restoration as well; as their memory improves, so does the seasonal area. Sanctuary is pretty explicit about going in this category. Dreams might to some extent.
The first four seasons and [in my theories] enchantment as well revolve around reuniting the spirits in them and helping them all ascend. :-)
Abyss is hard to figure out, and TLP is most likely a special case due to it being a collab season
the spirits have us! free labor :}
assembly splash text goes from "A secret hideaway in the making" to "A home away from home"
Assembly trailer was hella depressing but drives the point of restoration after desolation: https://youtu.be/1Ysv9cUrNqI
Abyss spirits were prob stubborn. Since they’re likely post-apoc, the younger ones might’ve been raised outside of the Sky kingdom’s spiritual beliefs while the older ones might’ve been disillusioned and suspicious of skykids.
I like to imagine that they tell us to get diamonds for them and our skykid, only vaguely knowing about how darkstone works, just… does not question why they want them at all
Kids too distracted by playing pirates to ask questions
abyss spirits looking at skykids: A dubious little creature getting up to mischief, this is no good
I think skykids perfectly understand the allure of collecting shiny rocks
i see! thank you ^^ also, i love that "helping the questgiver remember who they are" one
to be fair. if I met a weird glowing child who could fly and see dead people and also looked suspiciously like the guy who destroyed the entire world I would also be incredibly suspicious. I think I have to side with the abyss spirits here, they have an entirely reasonable reaction
but your honor, they're so silly!!
Shameless plug
Maybe they’re selectively tangible. We can walk right through them, but also hug them.
I just had a thought, that maybe they can exert more willpower to become briefly tangible. This is kind of sweet because it means they want to hug us so much that they’re willing to put in the extra effort.
Yeah, I definitely fall on the side of 'selectively tangible'
Like, they can control it but their default is 'you go thru them'
not to science for a sec but isn't hard light theorized to be possible?
The whole update about table stacking no longer working on spirits was simply a result of them learning to go incorporeal whenever they saw a skykid pull out a table
google says there are theories surrounding the possibility of creating tangible light but I cannot look any further into it or you will not see me for several hours
It sure sounds cool
It is hilarious to me that most of the spirits we meet are fine with us and do not question it it all. the abyss spirits are the only ones which seem to
Horrible idea. the abyss quests are just us getting sent to increasingly dangerous areas and the spirits getting more and more concerned and baffled as to how we keep surviving them
The Abyss spirits are implied to be post-apocalypse survivor types. Most spirits are just normal villager type people seeing a child out and about during their day, but how does a child survive alone during the apocalypse? Suspicious
btw, Fritjof is Commodore, Mar is Abyss guide, and Vi is Cannoneer. This is from my Abyss fic Dear Fellow Traveler
thank you for the gift :-)
You know I always treasure your writings
Okay I have a question, who is the megabird, and when/where did it show up?
Explanation here: #lore-discussion-spoilers message
tl;dr — god
Ooh cool
Hi lore chat
I’m working on a sky character who works to copy murals for vault (and makes a drawings of sky creatures as a hobby)
However I’m not sure how she should copy them. I was thinking charcoal rubbing might be a realistic way but are the murals even carved or are they painted on? If they’re painted do you think they’d glow for tracing instead of rubbing?
the murals are more likely made of a light-based paint, hence why they glow. since they're paint, there's not impressions for charcoal rubbings to catch.
So maybe a thin paper to trace with?
yea, that could work 👍
what happened at golden wasteland like why is it green why krills there ? is there lore for it
Golden Wasteland became polluted
why am i typing out a paragraph when i couldve just written that
how did it become polluted
Your paragraph may be a more in-depth explanation
We believe that there was an explosion in eden, making the world of sky polluted and killing most of the ancestors. Explosion becomes pollution. when pollution spreads things become corrupted, like krills. They might've been some kind of light creature that we see in game but due to corruption they're now krills. At least thats what i believe but you are free to think whatever you believe about the corruption and explosion as nothing is honestly confirmed ^^
They can use charcoal and then paint in the details afterwards.
I was honestly gonna say maybe the spirits or people whichever term works may have causes the pollution by accident maybe overdoing certain things but I agree with what you said tbh cause it makes way more sense in my opinion
Can i ask you in which way the spirits may have caused the pollution by accident ^^?
I was thinking maybe they maybe like grabbing a completely new resource and that resource was bad in general like the red crystals in eden maybe some found there way there and the spirits found some and tried making useful but that may have ended up causing what we now have as the polluted area
Eden is not that far from the polluted area and the krill are usually around those red crystals
But then there's the abyss story the krill arnt around those red crystals at all apart from the glowing red eyes giant krill which maybe is a fully grown krill I'm not sure
This may help, I talked about Wasteland the other day: #lore-discussion-spoilers message
Ah I see but that leaves one tiny question if the krill were at one point natural creatures of light how come we don't see any natural ones? So what I'm thinking is maybe the krill were maybe built and then got consumed by darkness which made them into living yet twisted things and maybe there original purpose was to protect certain items or things from danger so with the concept of the glowing red thing being a constructed object it would make sense for the spirits to put the krill there to protect it
And maybe they used the giant krill beast in the abyss as a reference to there project
It’s entirely possible that we DO see natural uncorrupted krill, the corruption process just makes them look super different. A semi common theory is that their natural form might be
for instance
Another one I’ve heard is that krills were the corrupted bones of light creatures
The official name of a krill is dark dragon.
Seeing it is a dark creature, it would makes sense why 'dark' is in their name; similar to dark crabs.
However, following the logic that the opposite is a light creature, this presents the possibility that there could be a Light Dragon.
I have a theory that can link the Krill to the marble eel (nickname) creature swimming through the ruins in the Abyss season area.
Mhm
But quick question what is the giant creature called there spotted in the polluted area and when your heading to get rebirthed?
Like an outline? Or is there an indent
That would be a whale. Or Tunaking/big fish depending on the officIal names.

Whichever works for you
Ah I see I see
i’ve got these close-ups of a krill’s face, is their searchlight not actually an eye? it looks like they might actually have 8 very small eyes
Maybe they have horrible eye sight like spiders or the darkness gave them that as they transformed
Oo 8 eyes
But do you think krill need to eat like creatures to survive due to that one instance of a krill eating the Manta aswell as them literally knocking the light out of you
They certainly hunger for light
Ah
Darkness as a force consumes and holds onto light. We get light back from melting darkness plants. The leviathan ultimately spat out the creatures it eats. Without skykids, darkness would continue to have that light.
Darkness may grow when taking light, but this isn’t certain. Corrupted darkstone doesn’t change when it hits us — it just glows and takes. See:
It’s unclear whether darkness’s “hunger” for light is essential to its survival or just a thing it has.
I have a theory/idea what if eden made the light kids and darkness what if they caused this just to see what would happen to the world cause eden must have had a huge role in the world maybe as a God of some kind I'm not sure and maybe he wanted to see what the world could manage without him so he made two groups light children and the darkness and maybe he just wanted to see what the two groups would do
who is eden?
Everyone asks who is Eden. No one asks how is Eden.
I'm thinking about why Eden exist 🤔
So I mean how the level came about in the first place and why it is the way it is. Could imagine the elders having anything to do with it, traveling there for something and then dying there
After all, all the elders are on the gate, so there must have been something to do with all of them
This timeline mentions that they are “unrecognizable” so normal krill might be in plain sight
Ooo
Here’s the full time line for anyone who wants it
I think this quote suggests that we have yet to see the creatures that krills once were
Oh my bad
So if you're looking at Eden from the dessert, you can see that the power beam coming from UNDER the crystal and going up. And from other images we've seen, vault is underneath Eden which means the power beam should be shooting through vault. But we don't see that. Vault obviously holds a lot of power and transcends the physical world the more you get to the top. Eden seems like a power source but it might have started bending reality which is why end up in a weird area after we go through the eye and why the vault seems so space. Eden and vault are more related than we realized. Thank you for coming to my ramble
based on the isle temple murals, the structure we enter eden from looks to be the top of the vault
good morning! this is an odd question, but what happens if you die outside of Eden?
You get sent to a dark room with a single winged light. The pity room
You spawn back home with one winged light !
ah. Thanks!
Do y’all think the other elders joined in on the war or did they just leave
to deal with everything
I believe only Wasteland and Vault were affected by the alleged war, but we don't know anything for sure
As far as we know, there might not have been any war at all and it was just dark creatures trying to reach Eden
There's 2 different symbols on the shields, implying 2 different groups
Again, we have no way to know for sure, but as far as I remember there was no concept art implying a war between ancestors, or at least not any I've seen yet (anyone who knows the concept art well can confirm this?)
Valley Elder(s) might’ve been involved
I like how the spirits worshiped the 4 elements but they all sorta worshiped eden or the light children
I see that there’s base game lore here.
Do you guys think the ancestors' lack of pupils is a stylistic choice (so they don't have to animate pupils moving around) or is it something more?
I like how the spirits worship the 4 elements in some way and also believed in eden or the light children
You just said that-
Hi hi, what we talking about?
My question is: Who are the children that you collect (the ones that glow), what happened to everyone why are they all dead? And why is the ending confusing either way I give them my levels idk what happens if ya dont but I dont wanna know
About that-
The children we collect are theorised to be dead sky kids, they’re probably dead because of the disaster in Eden, the ending is basically your sky kid being reborn. It doesn’t matter you give them your levels or not, you will still be reborn but it is recommended giving them your winged light to get ascended candles
What happened with eden
There are tons of theories for the WL we collect, the dead sky kids are just one of them and not one I see much in this channel tbh. They are stated to be “imprints of the children of light” but what exactly that means is unclear
Probably pieces of ourselves we collect
that only works if you consider all skykids as part of the same whole, considering we still manage to collect them on our first run through, before we have reached the places they are in
Maybe the stars (winged light) are just some sort of help mega bird sent to help us on our journey?
Ah okay good thing I do it all the time and hm dead kids that we collect make sinces but heres something the first thing you meet that if ya get spotted you'll die if ya dont hi (I named him Jerry and I well keep calling him Jerry) what happened to them what are they ik they fought them but the souls or spirits you collect they tell a story that I dont understand
What seems to have happened is that the Diamond on top got corrupted and/or exploded somehow, scattering the corruption throughout the realms. hence why Eden seems to be the epicenter of most of the corruption and the place most affected by it
at this point someone should make a list of winged light theories
Almost everything in sky has lore behind it at this point
I have a small idea about the winged lights.
What if they're sky kids that never got the ability to reincarnate?
Here's my reasoning. Maybe they're sky kids that arrived after the first king. Because the land was peaceful, they had no reason to reincarnate or be able to. However, when edan became, well edan, they all went in trying to save edan but 'died' with their souls scattered now. [when we die, we become a light that floats, maybe they traveled throughout sky and that's why they're at where they're at?] Now they're stuck as statues in edan because they weren't able to reincarnate.
After sky kids kept dying, new ones were born with the ability to reincarnate. Us. Now we use the souls to make ourselves stronger and give them back to the sky kids that died before the cycle repeats again.
Not very much on the topic of wl, but anyone have theories on what happened to the krill or what they may have been beforehand?
I think that they were light creatures, instead of taking light they gave it. When eden turned into chaos the gem might have attracted then in some way making them darkness creatures (this is just a theory)
I think they're either a corrupted whale creature [They look to be about the same size and fly] or they're another corrupted creature entirely that we haven't seen in its light for yet. Maybe they were a wasteland exclusive creature and that's why they're all in wasteland and why we don't see and light form of them.
krill are confirmed corrupted, but not sure what they were before corruption
idk I think krill are natural creatures but were selectively bred and also made into cyborgs
and accidentally corrupted via ancestor meddling? that’s how it works in my brain
I don’t have a ton of evidence for this, I just really like the idea, but I like to imagine that krill are what happen when you pile up a ton of manta corpses who have all lost their light on top of each other
them being simply corrupted is a disappointment on my end but stuff like Salem’s idea is cool
so i got curious and went to the pity room/limbo today, and noticed our skykid receives the wl using the same gesture as when we receive other gifts (from spirits, friends, etc). so this winged light is a gift, but from who?
I’m a little erratic as I should be asleep and will very soon so if I don’t make any sense then that’ll be why
very tired
I feel like I have ideas for this but also I do not and every time I follow the idea it ends confusingly so I do not
that actually sounds very cool
thank you! I love ur name btw :-)
selective breeding is how I justify the Reef krill in Angler’s memory being so small (unless that was a baby krill?)
no idea
wait no didn’t Abyss happen After the war so that may have been a variant that wasn’t meddled with but survived
Do light creatures die? I get why that we wouldn't really see that, but they seem to live through being trapped in dark plants and being swept up with rocks
Edit: wait, krills can kill them
thank you as well <3
Yeah! The manta who gets krilled in GW — wait you know
Wait, if krills are the only way we know they can die, then which came first? What killed that many mantas to make krills in the first place?
refineries I would think
the ones we save from dark plants may have gotten stuck more recently and hadn't perished yet.
there's a quip from Tom Zhao's concept that light creatures who die an unnatural death leave behind bones
if they’re made of light why do they have b
Every time I go to wasteland and see that poor manta it is just unsettling and disturbing
light can be solid like what happens with purple light I think. that is my best idea
only leave behind bones in "unnatural" deaths, whatever that means.
though the area outside the Forest Elder temple/refinery is called the "boneyard"
is ‘light creature’ just an expression? I assumed it’d be part of their biology in some sense
@keen shore yeah that would explain it. thought so
What is the state of that manta? Is it perpetually krilled or killed with another filling in....what goes on there-
Maybe they keep wandering in there looking for the previous ones that died?
IT IS AN ENDLESS CYCLE

it’s the same one it keeps getting spawnkilled
if I go off into incoherent nonsense then please tell me to go to sleep
We all do and we never sleep. Don’t worry
So then do they reincarnate like we do then?
I mean I very very much should be asleep and promise to sooon
A thing I’ve just suddenly wondered is what exactly are those light orbs we’ve had to catch for quests? They often come back or leave behind a sort of outline or “ghost”, they also seem to have given life to forgotten ark if I’m remembering properly
comes off to me as a gameplay thing tbh
They use them as sources of light for the arch and other stuff I think
I cannot discuss coloured lights and light magic at 4am noooooooo one of my favourite topics

not at all in a headspace for it
SAME VOL I WANT TO BIT ALSO I CAN BARELY THPE ATM
Nods
usually I’d love to go on about this but I’m very very tired and can only think about less in-depth topics in my current state……sorry
okay I will do a very basic explanation. each colored light has a special power and can be used for specific things. green makes plants grow. cyan controls air etc. the enchantment spirits seem to have been studying or using them to some extent and also the elders can use them as shown in the prophecy murals. I can go more in depth at a different time but I don’t think I have energy for paragraphs rn
Should I link my colored lights theory here?
yeah that’s a good crude summary of it afaik
Don’t worry about it too much, no need to apologize
its alright ^^ thats my state most of the time here. When i do find brain cells no ones online
I am juggling this channel and Mario kart at the same time, this is so interesting
I have slightly different theories on certain parts of it and would love to contribute to compare and discuss but aaaaaaaaa
yeah that makes sense, but what I wonder is where they came from mostly- were they created? were they always there? did they just kinda fly wild and that’s why we have to catch them?
~~am I just over analyzing a gameplay feature
~~
YOU ARE NOT OVERANALYSING I WOULD LOVE TO DISCUSS THIS BUT AAAAAAAAAAAAA
this is a wonderful debate that I love being involved in but I cannot Think
That’s probably something natural from the world of sky
I like to imagine they were made/ are the original creators/discoveres of the magic they hold. Or they were just created
Remember we don’t come from the world of sky ourselves
something something alchemists splitting the white light and infusing attributes with each colour perhaps
that’s my headcanon
The point of theories is to overanalize things XD
That's what makes it fun!
Where do we come from actually? come to think of it
There is a theory mega bird sent us on our journey
Stars?
I don’t know where they came from (I think just kinda coalesced naturally? we don’t get a lot of info on it) but I have a whole complex theory on why we have to catch them for enchantment that I will try to sum up briefly.
-> enchantment spirits crash in wasteland, struggling to survive
-> each of them absorbs one of the colored lights in order to use their powers to survive
-> they still fail and die
-> the lights that fused with their inner lights escape and fly around
-> they cannot fully ascend without those lights coming back, because parts of their soul are trapped inside, so we have to collect it and help them
maybe they never came in, its like the way wind and such works in our world. It as always there, a natural force. Same way sky just seems to have random coloured floaty orbs-
Hi guys
I always thought krill were not protists of this dimension, does anyone think so too?
they do exist naturally as seen in prophecy murals. the ench lights are the artificial recreations of them via magic and alchemy, plus more lights(???)
dunno if this is my real theory but it’s 4am brain
you all have really great theories my god
this is just the natural conclusion of my whole “you habe to absorb the lights to use it concept” and doesn’t have much in the way of evidence so think of it with a grain of salt but. I always assumed that the enchantment orbs were gifts from the elders and because they were only a fragment of what the elders had, they weren’t as powerful if that makes sense
they havr distinct symbols but probably the alchemy specific as opposed to standard ones are what we see in ark. we know they exist in-universe because nod painted these onto the ark
thank you nodding muralist for singlehandedly making colored light lore comprehensible and also painting cool pictures
Here goes: #lore-discussion-spoilers message
i’m enjoying this idea tbh
I made a memory canfle as Nod eartlier
WAIT I NEVER NOTICED THE DETAIL OF THEM BEING IN THE DESIRED LOCATIONS
GOOD EYE
I need to go to Prophecy Cave more. My second fabouytre season and J rearely go to the area
wiw my spellinb is deteriorating
You need to rest
they are in the desired locations……there is a cool ench theory/interpreyation a friend had that uh
the lights are literal parts of the crew respectively and you give them to them to make each member whole again
Vol. vol that is my theory I am right here
it is?? nice
meant someone else but yoooo
I wanna sleep but ->
why are we discussing Enchantment now of all times noooooo
I personally think it’s less desired locations and more places where they’d coalesce and be created and so were found. the traits for both kinds of locations would probably overlap (like, a light would “want” to go where the conditions were good for it, and the lights would also spawn where the conditions were good for it). the reason I like it better even if it’s a small thing is because it doesn’t imply that the lights are sentient enough to have desired locations, which is an implication that just raises so many questions for me
REST

salem please stop I wanna sleep aaaaaaaaaaaa why is it one of my favourite topics now
IM SO SORRU
Go to sleeepp
you can always come back and I’ll probably be here tomorrow with my fried fish brain sparking up more stuff like this
this idea is so cool……….gonna save a link to it I think for later
keywords: enchantment lights coloured light magic theory salem location
Please go to sleep😭😭

How about this @lyric isle . When you wake up we will immediately start talking about enchantment
nighty nighty
@sharp lichen shall I ping you when I’m free to
counterpoint, I will probably be asleep at that time. but if I am not I will join immediately. I do not often get the chance to talk about the colored lights but love to very Much
good night!
Good night!
only when i’m free to ok

What do you think the sand in different realms taste like? Would it tell us about what happenes there
I think the sand would make us sick if we ate it
What would it taste like before that tho,.
I dream of a cotton candy isle

I feel it would taste sweet and get more bitter as we got to more slightly corrupted/darkened areas
I see i see
be very careful about taste discussions in Sky, lest we get to the extremely contentious topic
that is the taste of Megabird
Isle sand prob salty cos ocean while Wasteland sand prob tastes like grit
countless ideas have been thrown out, including honey, butterscotch, vanilla cupcakes, and even spaghetti. Choose one of these, or you could even make your own suggestion
Isle would be most like actual sand but slightly citrusy, daylight prairie would be somewhat mint, forest would have a muddy, chocolate taste, valley would be just really plain, slightly sweet and slightly bitter, wasteland maybe bitter and salty and a bit spicy, and vault would be sweet, berry flavored
Sister says bird would taste like pennies and father says bird would taste like chicken
more of them to add. we re drifting further and further away to a concrete megabird taste theory. Unless we do a funny @ ashen
I’d say that Megabirds have never been eaten, but they have the scent of stardust, which in my imagination is a soft floral smell with a bit of lemon
that's another one
When I try to think of the "taste", my first thought for some reason is "whipped cream". Just.... whipped cream
Ooh.... it's probably Megabird. Remember the only one who also talks from the perspective of a Winged Light is the intro narrator?
OH ALSO rebirth gate vs limbo text
I was wondering for quite sometime about where that Winged Light was from, if all Winged lights actually came from the statues in Eden. I guess that never occurred to me it may have been given based off of the gesture
That’s such a cool idea
So is that assuming all statues were once skykids?
all the statues you give wl to are petrified skykids, yes
Or would it be possible if they are spirits that need the winged lights to be freed from “hell” and torture??
no they're skykids, we turn into one of the statues once we lose all our light
Yup
True, but then maybe it’s just the soul that becomes the statue instead of the body, and the body was always staying at home waiting for the soul to return?
Every time you finish eden you can see your sky kid turning into cold stone while the hard red rocks fall like rain
It's more the other way around. A skykid's body petrifies in eden once you run out of winged light, and you can see their soul (blue light) following other kids around. Once the skykid's soul is reunited with the light, they begin their ascension to orbit, but don't actually regain their body until being reborn
I mean you can see the petrified sky kid breaking free every time
the skykids actually leave their petrified forms behind
their bodies petrify. after being revived, their souls leave their bodies.
if souls petrified instead of bodies then rip those bodies.
in a way, skykid souls are petrified – not actually petrified but trapped. their body becomes a casing of darkness much alike to the husks of petrified spirits. keeping their soul inside their bodies may protect their souls from further darkness that could actually harm their souls which would be a big "oh no"
It’s like turtles, they protect themselves with their shells from danger which explains the statues that represent spirits and the fallen sky kids in eden
They don’t want to be even further corrupted by darkness therefore they go into a sleep-like state until they find a light source that can wake the up from that sleep-like state
We were the ones who freed them because of the powerful light inside of us
But the ones in eden are different, they were sky kids once who did not have the chance to reincarnate(be reborn) like us
I really like that turtle idea for them :0
Them being covered in stone so edan doesn't kill them for good. Though I wonder why the cycle continues every week other than gameplay. I wonder if the corruption in edan is too much to make our light permanent there, so over the week it goes back to how it was.
Was thinking the darkness petrified the outside before being able to suck up light deeper, accidentally encasing whatever light remained. So accidental turtle shell
important lore question
can the megabird be cooked like a rotisserie chicken or are they the rotisserie chicken
imagine the all powerful light being is actually a massive chicken
I mean I imagine it would be hard to cook a blob of light
mwgaburd IS the cooking oil
nonono megabird is spaghetti you gotta boil her
nono guys you got it all wrong
megabird is a chunk of steak
they're broth
beef broth
chicken...broth-

Bobbit- along with skykids, flying around after already devouring chat
I wonder how that’ll taste
**actually, where are these emojis
werent they in this server where did they go 👁️ 👁️ **
Ehhh!?!? Are they gone now???? Must be gone to make room for new emojis-
Does anyone know where Ash said something about light creatures coming from water/sea? I think Ash said something about the subject and I'm looking for it atm, but can't find it rn
I think that is from Yui in a youtube livestream for abyss. But i am not sure which. If i rmb correctly
At 10:34
bobbit-
hi guys, I heard that golden waste land is capital of sky kingdom. what is your opinion?
I don't know, but they don't usually let heavy factory build inside capital... or at least at my place
true
Juice mantas?
Or it could be that before it was a very nice place and without darkness and that's why they made it the capital. Well at least before what happened in the lore of the game.
🤢 that dark water?
You say that the black water was caused by the factory?
i think it's looks like that since sky not ruined.
I wonder what they were trying to make.
Juice light from light creatue to put into dark stone, I think
Like the one in Forest
then it's dark stone factory?
In Forest they use butterfly, in Wasteland they may use some bigger animals
It looks like one, the yellow part in first krill area
true...but i wonder what happend and..how you guys think was before? I think probably the factory exploded
next from there is creature pond?
can't agree more
maybe its looks like that from the first time
hmm..rather it could be that the creatures helped them create that something... could it have been a new dimension that they had been trying to do?
hmmmm possibly
dev not show some clue about there yet
there is full of boat and creature's spine
The helping krill
Can you imagine that in reality there are children of light and the same story of this game but on another planet in real life? and TGC are just telling the story by the game?
can be i think.I really want to know what happend to eden
me too, i know only because of the king from concept art
i want to see the king in eden
yes, i wonder what happend to the prince of sky, and if tgc will do a final part of saving the prince of dark and all elders
also final season too. i guess 😱 we will never seen him until last season sure
yes, but i think its better not finish beacuse they will shut down the server probably when the game finish
damnnn, then we need to wait until last time of the game😭😭😭😭😭
wait...maybe the seasons...are like the discoveries made by the children of sky.
and every time it takes us more to the future so we living the "past" of sky.
I don't think Sky will end anytime soon, the game will only be 3 this year !
I like the idea that different light creatures cause different effects to the land when "processed" in the factories, like manta cause rain, whales cause dark water, maybe butterflies cause the islands to float and break apart
yes,im sure of that, but i think tgc will do moreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee seasons before we know who and how its the prince
what butterflies? ive didnt see any in sky.
of course, prince not appear yet, can't end
Never heard that one before, usually people attribute these effects to Prophecy lights
Maybe the two are linked ?
thanks for your opinion. i got idea to make some lore page.
a sorry bad memorie-

cool! when u finish i can see? i love see drawings of sky
yeah, but i will make it in Thai language
you say the criatures have powers and do that things to the place are they?
That is also true, they are extracting "light" from the creatures, maybe the way that they refine the colored lights is to use different creatures.
Enchantments murals have a lot to answer for...
can't explain well in English
I would say from what we have ingame currently, it's from the factories interacting with those creatures.
We only really have 2 realms to go from, forest and wasteland, Eden kinda has some, but it's not obvious which creatures were used there.
its okay and.Maelstrom i agree your ideas
Prophecy lights look pretty powerful, maybe they are the original lights that may have spawned naturally, and the ancestors used them as blueprints to make their own (like enchantment lights) !
Though, on the enchantment murals, the ancestors are depicted gathering fallen stars/light and encasing it to make what looks like spells. These fallen stars/light are sometimes thought to be lightseeker lights...
There's also the motes falling from the birds in Laughing Lightcatcher's memory that they try to gather, so maybe light creatures naturally shed motes but the refineries extracted from them anyway to make the process faster and more efficient ?
i really like your ideas. Beacuse you think of ideas that are not emphasized by what tgc says and you let your imagination run wild.
that fallen stars could be the children of sky. Or they use stars to make new sky childs? what you think about it?
and the lenguages of animals.I wonder if we can talk with that wasome criatures
Oh yes, maybe it's a goose who laid the golden egg situation, they found that light naturally came from creatures, and tried artificially extracting more. The prophecy are "natural stars" and hence why the diamonds produced in factories in the designs were called "artificial stars".
It's more like, being emersed in the world of the game and trying to work out the narrative that is presented there through interpretation.
This is all interpretation after all.
Maybe not all stars end up being the same thing when they land ? The one we talk about in the second Season of Performance quest either turns into a child or some light creatures depending on the choices you make, so perhaps some stars were ancestor children (like in Ushering Stargazer's memory), some stars were just light (like on the enchantment murals), some apparently became light creatures, and later on we got sky children coming from stars !
cool! I wonder if some day we could have a pet krill or set free krills of darkness💙
OH THAT'S AN EXCELLENT WAY TO ILLUSTRATE THAT 🐣
I like to think they are also called artificial because the smog coming from the factories obscures the view of the real stars !
Darkness was also a natural state of the world, like light, there isn't really a "setting free" I see it more of a balancing act between light and dark.
What do mantas eat? First I thought they eat grass, but there are many manta in Valley with no grass. Do they eat birds?
noooooooooooooooooooooo😭
skykids
I feel like creatures in Sky don't work by the same logic as irl ones, we know krills eat our light so it's possible they eat a similarly intangible thing
i dont think beacuse they will eat us alredy like krill when they see us. And they help us so i dont think xd
I've always thought of those creatures as "recharging" rather than eating, like if the light creatures go to a dark place, forest or wasteland, they lose "power" and have to go back to the light to recharge.
Similar with dark, krill never really stray from dark areas, but it could be, like the manta and krill in wasteland, if you had that situation in prairie, I recon the manta may win, as the krill loses their "dark" charge
the mantas has glue thats why always they kidnap us 😂
Soo... I think manta hunt like this: they can do a magic light aura that sticks things to them, like when we were kidnapped by a manta. Then they just sort of carry the prey around (for example, a bird), until the prey exhausted and can't fly away, then chew
The "sticky" kidnap aura is strong, need a strong flap of wing like a sky kid's to break free. Normal small birds may not able to do that.
But sky kids are in un-digestable, so we are safe
I like to think light creatures are in a constantly migrating state and embody the flow of light to and from Eden/Orbit. Skykids are a more active part of that flow since they go out of their way to restore the light in areas a light creature would surely perish in (like the wasteland).
Darkness could represent a force opposing that flow, and maybe the ancestors liked it at first since you can't build a house on unsteady ground so darkness allowed them to build long-lasting structures, but as time went on the ancestors went too far and almost stopped the flow of light in an effort to control their environment.
I wonder if there is a "dark" Megabird, like deep in space the opposite direction to the light Megabird.
Also, I've never really thought about this, but maybe the negative space in the Megabird is the dark bird.
wow
The Leviathan in the Treasure Reef ?
Your idea is really interesting since darkness is the absence of light...
i wonder how was the king and queen before the prince
or the leviathan its the oposite of megabird
ah i need go see ya other day! ive liked so much talking about this opinions with all!
I was thinking the leviathan is the opposite to the light whales, as they both have physical form.
I was thinking something like the opposite to pure light, like a black hole, but one that radiates darkness.
See you later!
I think there's a black hole concept art on Tom Zhao's site, but I have to go 😅
I think you're right, I'll have to go check.
Good talking!
You're totally right,
Tom Zhao does it again!
HOLY--
WHAT THE HONK IS THAT
What if that concept shows up in the upcoming season??
THAT LOOKS LIKE A BLACK HOLE
You have lost all your light...
is that a game over message when you lose all winged light?
🤣best reaction ever!
where can i see this timeline lore thing?
I’m thinking that the Storm is sort of a reverse to the Megabird
They’re both powerful, eternal beings with swirly things. It wouldn’t be too hard to imagine that the Storm is the leader/creator of darkness
"with swirly things" lol
Eden soft serve
We’ve discussed the flavor of megabird but what about the storm?
We’re not ready for that
Licorice
omw to eat some sand

anyway hi there guess what arrived today
this is on-topic for what you said you'd talk about with me (not yet. not ready to Yet but will say when)
oh wait enchnmanet lore

WHT DOES IT SAY
The what is here
see here
FINGERS
this beautiful little verse and you point out fingers
to b fair it is a very important observation when half the spirits we see have mittens for hands
I was thinking the same thing actually-
Does spicy licorice exist??
heyo lore chat! wanted to pop in to share this, it's from out of bounds for golden wasteland social space area, high up! you can see the structure for eden :OO thought i'd share this here incase it hasn't been seen before
It looks a lot like the early Light Awaits structure at the end of Eden !
You used to be able to survive the level, and had to enter this to finish it :]
i'm seeing if i can get any closer for a better screenshot!
The light comes up from the vault, through the eye, and to the sky and I haven't figured out a solid reason why yet (also Eden is so tragically beautiful)
except the beam of light doesn’t come from the Vault. you can see the Vault right behind you just before passing the Elders gate and there’s no beam
that’s Vault?
Otherwise yea, Eden is so tragically beautiful
Ok so I remember a concept art of the mountain being the vault so I base a lot of my theories on that but I apologize if that's wrong I just really like that idea. But the beam is coming from somewhere deep in the mountain that we can't see
yea, if you enter Eden from the final floor of the Vault, that is what you emerge out of
What do they mean when they say “eye” of eden? Is it like a metaphor to represent something?
to me, when i first went to vault as a moff, thinking about it, it feels like vault is built within inside the mountain, cause the only direction we go in vault, is upwards
Just like a mountain…it’s like we are hiking but going inside and up
also the structure in the pic i sent, it kinda looks like the first area of eden, with the big door and such
Trying to figure out where everything is in relation to each other in sky is pretty bad because there are a lot of cuts in travel time and we can't have an accurate birds eye view of everything (ie the wind paths connect everything but we don't know how far everything is between each other or how it loops around)
you're not wrong about the concept art and it still seems true, though due to placement of the top of the Vault, the Vault may not be in the center of the mountain but rather off a bit. or, if there is a part of the Vault that really is in the center of the where the light beam comes from, we do not see it.
worth noting the Vault appears to have more reality bending shenanigans going on. whether this is due to magic or technology, it is not quite on the same plane of existence as we are, so some aspects of it may be obscured.
Sky geographers have a substantially harder time figuring things out than the Sky biologists
Yesssss the second paragraph I have taked about that in another theory and why I think Eden has a similar effect because of the beam
i just realized, the only thing that destroys that thought of vault being inside of the mountain, is the exit to starlight desert, going outside and seeing eden mountain in distance x_x
Sky physicists:
it is apparently a very long tunnel tbf
Don't get me started i tried to do calculations for someone from a single second of cut scene and I got like 3 different numbers depending on how you could calculate it
ok that explains it then
there's a fade to black during the travel from the Vault to Starlight Desert. perhaps that's in there to shorten the time it takes for players to traverse the two areas. we don't know how long the skykid was in that tunnel or if there were any twists & turns, ups & downs during that scene cut. the same can be said for other transitions between areas where the destination isn't immediately viewable
true
I mean that is pretty much true because in other realms like valley to village of dreams the same thing happens

First time?
other places I can think off of the top of my head where that transition occurs is from the first floor of the Vault to the Archives, from Prairie Village to the 8-player puzzle, taking the elevator from Vault floor 3 to 4, and within the derelict temple in Eden.
not from the Valley coliseum to the Village of Dreams – you can see gondolas at the end of the vomitorium and you take a gondola up from Village of Dreams to go back to the coliseum to return to that entrance. it's heavily implied that skykids take the gondolas to and fro the Village of Dreams. perhaps the same will be true when the other side of the coliseum opens.
I think 8 player puzzle is just under the clouds
going from the Starlight Desert to the Vault, it takes so much more time to hit the point where it fades to black. And even then you can't see the end of the tunnel, it's pitch black. Something tells me that tunnel is extremely long
the tunnel to starlight desert being very very very long would make a lot of sense
do I dare mention my headcanons and how it explains that
The fade to black is because our skykids find a car and start driving it there because it takes so long but tgc doesn’t want us to know about it
minecart ride in sky when
skykids driving – never thought I'd be outmatched by a honking child
Oreo pops out of nowhere and takes us there
you’d want a big shady experiment to be quite hidden; it makes sense
maybe it’s at the very very end of a long tunnel that also opens up to other parts of the vault along the way 👀
A nice krill takes us from place to place but we just aren't ready to accept it
does this imply that you can also fly and respawn at will (because they haven’t already outmatched you in those aspects)
skykids can't really respawn at will neither
Like why is them driving the part where they surpass you of all places
Avoiding the question I see…

Alasdair is immune to fall damage
the vault scholars devised a cyan light powered machine that blasts air from behind and thus anyone stood on the trigger pad all the way to the end
after the fade is where you land. then just a short walk and ta da
my legs would say otherwise >_<
Alasdair can fly AND has legs… him accusing me of being a krill was merely projection…
debatable... oi
The truth come out
Salem is the krill that takes us from place to place in the jump cuts
Salem is accusing me of being a krill to deflect from xemself
