In all seriousness, it's been noted in the past that it seems to have exploded (shattered to pieces), but later, each fragment seems to be attracted to each other, and tried to "reform" itself. It was to explain why there seems to be glowing red crystals everywhere that looks like they grew there, away from the Eden Diamond

Though, now considering after Abyss, these might just be normal dark stones that grew there and turned red due to the environment

I wonder if the blue diamond is possibly the elevator diamond from Vault, or potentially the eden diamond fusing together?

I have a new theory.
What if Mega bird is dead?

So we know that the blue gems are a power source and maybe the red gems have been theorised to like corrupted batteries.

Mantas were experimented in abyss but what exactly did they harvest from them? The gems. They don't make the gems, they take it from Manta bodies.

The bigger the creature, the bigger the gem. The bigger the battery.

Dark creatures naturally have properties of both gems. Passively able to store light in blue and actively seeking them out in red.

Which brings me to the question what the heck did they harvest to make that huge red gem in Eden?

My theory : That's Megabird. He ded.

Theory!! Hear me out:

There were two diamonds
The big one that’s still there and we know and a red one!
A dark one that drained excess light and power from the massive one so it wouldn’t overpower or explode!
The red crystals we see around are the remains after the red crystal overloaded and exploded! That’s why it drains light!
The big one, now having no drain for its power is as it is now
Very strong and overwhelming

If I were to recall, Eden was supposed to be desaturated of all colour, making it appear black and white in the concept art. When I first saw the Proph trials in beta, I immediately remembered the concept art and thought that maybe they used that concept of monochrome palette for the trials... I wonder if they're gonna bring that back?

It strengthens the skykid, by allowing them to fly farther, higher and take more damage before losing their light.
In Eden, winged light seems to be related to the statues as it helps save them by returning the light to the fallen.

Not much else that I know of.

I think of the Winged Light as reverse shadows. “But shadows are dark, silly.” Yes, shadows are dark. But since we’re children of light, it would seem to be logical that we can’t actually leave a dark shadow. Therefore all shadows must be made of light in order to be seen. Everything here that’s made of light seems to have a life of its own. In conclusion, I postulate that Winged Lights are like Peter Pan’s shadow and are constantly giggling and running away from us to play hide and seek

Also yes, they would seem to be alive. In one set of patch notes, the Winged Light in Shipwreck that fell into an oob and was broken for awhile said thank you to everyone that’d visited it. So they must be alive

They mostly come from winged light figure (or formerly known as stars), though spirits can also give skykids winged light as wing buffs.

They seem able to protect skykids from becoming petrified in Eden, and despite the name, does not fly on its own when dropped. Nor able to survive for long in their flaming form when dropped.

winged light may be the imprints of skykids left throughout the world. they anchor a skykids soul to their body, as seen by the soul leaving the body once you run out of winged light. they also may strengthen a skykids connection to the Light, and maybe that’s why you need at least 20 to enter eden.
i think the flying children we see during ascension are actually impressions (wl) of our friends, as it doesn’t make sense for the game to suggest all our friends are doing eden at the exact same time as you

is it like a real place or maybe its a physical representation of mediation to show how skykids move between realms

I like to think it is a real place, it is where the skykids live and go back to if they need to go to a safe place, see visiting spirits and access all of the realms.
It could be like a miniature aviary and personal realm as it was like in Light Awaits.

I prefer to think it's more like a mindspace, in-universe skykids would use the home shrines in each realm social space to teleport from one of them to another directly.

Home is likely a way to get fast access to constellations, dressing rooms and realms.

the spirit memories are depictions of past events, but the seasonal quests and other spirit interactions all happen in the present. some theorize that some seasonal quests reflect past events but it’s unclear.
the exception to this would be dreams bc the dreams skater is a regular spirit who’s memories happen to be the quests, for some reason. tho the dreams finale may happen in real time, i’d have to revisit it

It likely depends; you will notice some quests have the spirit almost ignore us (thinking about prophecy for example, where the only one that seems to see us is the guide) while others have us actively interacting with spirits (performance).
Perhaps the former is us reliving the past, and the latter is set in the present !

More things I've noticed: Just like the fake interview said, Stagehand and Guide will eventually come upstairs and we can jam together. They seem a bit shocked/sad if you reject them after hitting the jam bell (I didn't realize what was going on and rejected them first time )

• Surprisingly, instead of watching us perform with Mellow Musician (as I expected), Musician sits out while you jam with Stagehand and Guide. Guide plays the electric guitar, while Stagehand plays the switch Ocarina. (which, as a switch player, this makes me supremely happy) I was handed a bell instead of the handpan like Mellow Musician has been doing.

Musician has the music corner. Storyteller has their little spot where they sell things, which is littered with scrolls. Which begs the question — who is the forge for?? Who uses it? Does modest dancer have a secret blacksmithing hobby?

Looking back at the Prophecy promo art, it actually seems to be an old concept... the QG has no halo, which Ash mentioned was "important", enough so that it's something that Lore chat should be looking into. Everything else looks similar to what we know.

The reason why they probably released such an old concept art piece was probably because this was the first time they released a Season promo art before the Season was over. (Sanctuary had 20 days left iirc)

My original idea for this is that Performance Guide prepares the mask for us when they realize we're there to stay. When we show up for quest 2 (and possibly for several days to mess with the stage before that ) we prove we weren't just some random kid who showed up and was kind to stagehand, only to disappear into the sunset. So Performance Guide welcomes us to the troupe by preparing that mask for us

The beam of light in Eden isn't a completely natural occurrence, think of it like The First Flame from Dark Souls
A chosen one has to sacrifice themselves in order to fuel the beam for a limited time, and let the ancestors ascend

The cycle constantly continues and repeats

The last chosen one, the King/Prince, tried to break the cycle by using darkstone tech to power the beam, but it didn't go well

It's a dumb theory but it came up in my head and I HAD to write it down

Yea, it appears everywhere, hence why the king could’ve taken it to represent themself — to illustrate their power or make their reign seem divinely ordained. It’s kinda like the concept of the Divine Right of Kings, where monarchs would claim they were chosen by god to make out god’s will. The king, in claiming the Light symbol as their own, was not just claiming to be chosen by the light, but to be the Light themself or enacting the Light’s will.

Like without the predecessor element in it, just like the king sacrificed themselves out of guilt to power the Eden beam when it was about to fade due to darkness or something. Ooh, reminds me of a theory I had abt the scrapped Sky timeline. That the Prince, after everyone died, attempted to fix things and reconnect to the Light, but went terribly wrong, leading to the "Corrupted King" in Eden trying to murder you

Which btw, was implied to not be the actual "King" per say, but was some figure created from dark stone that corrupted the Prince like at the worst moment

one of the reasons why I’m leaning towards it is that it offers [what is to me] the most satisfying explanation for why the beam to ascend only appears after we hug the figure in orbit, which would be them in this theory. Getting a WL to recharge you makes sense, but why would that WL turn into the Eden beam after?? It’s a part I’m not sure I understand, and although my idea might not be correct (I don’t think it has enough evidence legs to stand on yet) it’s my favorite explanation for it.

Hopefully the new season might give us some more crumbs as to how all that works…

I’m really on the fence about characterizing the king/prince/Chosen One/Eden Elder. It’s easy to make them a scrapegoat, to lay all the blame on them, cos they aren’t here to defend themself. We literally don’t know anything about them as a person. The “corrupted king” concept could’ve been scrapped entirely or it could still be relevant. Perhaps they could’ve been corrupted but it didn’t make them evil. Even if they were an antagonist, they could’ve been a relatable villain who’s motives are understandable.

They may not have been evil in the slightest. Maybe they remained pure of heart all the way to the end but had been mislead. Nevertheless they stuck to their means, believing they were aiming for the good of the people and the Light. They could’ve been a pushover, where none of this darkstone and power diamonds and giant Eden diamond was other people’s ideas their advisors or other Elders convinced them was for the best and give the okay.

Again, the king isn’t here to speak for themself. We know nothing of them.

I feel called out by the whole pushover line of thinking 💔 but YEAH. my current take is that they only appeared after the stars fell and were kinda forced to be the chosen one and save everyone, but inevitably failed. If you really want to keep of the stuff revolving around them being “evil”, desperation is an equally good explanation. It would fit very well with sky’s themes about not being able to do stuff alone

YEAH YEAH that's the main reason I usually leave the king in the past with my theories. A lot of King interpretations range from "the bbeg that causes every problem" to "basically the hero/main character" and both of those are super black and white. When looking at the scrapped timeline, noticed how major points of the timeline is reflected in the realms. Both the Prince/King's age and the age of the Kingdom (Combined stages of life and stages of civilisation concept in realms).

Prince and Creatures gains the Flame, presumably in Isle (And we know in current lore the Kingdom began in Isle as well)
A new age in the Kingdom begins, where Ancestors and Creatures cooperate, which is what Prairie symbolizes as we cooperated a lot with the light creatures there. It's also when Prince should be in their childhood.
Discovery of Darkstone is in Hidden Forest, which btw was mentioned to be "Forbidden", but Prince ventured there, showing risk taking that we normally see in teenagehood.
Prince is crowned King in Valley, and Kingdom reaches its peak with Valley as its capital.
GW is where the fight against light creatures started, and also where everyone dies (Current lore suggest that this stays the same except for the Ark and maybe the Light Creatures part). Interestingly, GW was called the "Mid-Life Crisis" as a stage in life.

Notice how the Scrapped timeline doesn't have a point with "Vault" at its center and skipped straight to Eden? As if it was skipped. But looking at the contents of Vault, we can actually guess what happened in this part of the Timeline.

Prince survived, probs due to the King mech saving them (oof). And having no where else to go, they went through Vault and reflected on what happened in their life so far. It was here Prince most likely find out what they did wrong as they went up the mountain, and probably decided to fix things.

After this, the last we see of Prince is at the very to of of Eden, at the very specific point of where Ascension took place. Like, it's just at this really precise location that I don't think it's some "coincidence" they were there. Just putting two and two together, you'll realize Prince tried to trigger the ascent there, and got corrupted before they could even do it

Considering current lore of Sky, Prince trying to fix things is probs still in canon. Vault is pretty much the same as it was in the concepts, at least the idea of it. GW is interesting as it seems to suggest conflict not just in the Kingdom itself, but also inner conflict within the King at the time. GW has the most interesting implications if we use the realms as some sort of look into the Prince/King's mindset during those life stages. GW suggests a deep personal conflict and crisis within the King that no one really mentions that much here....

Just looking at the realms as points of the timeline is enough to make a rough outline of Sky's timeline in the current lore. And I have to admit, it seems very similar to the scrapped one, but the major differences here are the events of Isle due to Prophecy, GW and Eden.

I'm talking abt the scrapped timeline, the old timeline from Tom Zhao's one. Noticed there's a correlation between the timeline and the realms, and I realized it's combining both the "Stages of civilisation" concept as the progression of the Kingdom of Sky, and the "Stages of life" concept, which is of the Prince/King's stages life. (This was a popular theory back then with Prince/King's age corresponding to the realm, tho this was due to the star statues in each realm)

(idk if it needs spoiled or not) so what if whoever we meet in the dark room place is eden itself and they are actually a former sky kid or spirit somehow and they became so upset with their actions or something along the way then somehow eden was formed, many skykids loosing their light. except our skykid somehow meets eden and then calms them down, thus freeing all the spirits there in eden.

I was talking about this when I noticed the correlation... But yeah, you're right, it's like that. Using this concept, you could figure out the timeline of Sky's lore just through the realms and knowing what it tries to conveys. TGC tries to do more "show and tell", and conveys lore through the environment and the feelings it gives the player, so you could figure it out there (sorry, it seems this one is reaallyyy low quality)

In recent news about the animation project, there seems to be evidence that it could be infact be a skykid.
The glowing chest detail and child like appearance are all traditional hallmarks of a skykid. Capeless would normally indicate the skykid has not yet claimed a winged light. While the default mask would have a glowing 'third eye' detail, not all masks would have this feature and imply that skykids do not have a fore head detail, and it is just a part of the mask.

Back to the animation project, the new images and video teaser shows more of the child and more information that leans towards the skykid angle.

Hopefully the project would enable the staff at TGC to be able to showcase their wonderful and detailed world on a platform that is not limited such as a game on a cellphone.

Any other evidence in the game that may suggest (hypothetically, since there is not much to work off) that skykids have interacted with living ancestors would be the ushering stargazer's memory witnessing a star fall and discovering a child on the ground.
The more recent quest in season of Performance from the Forgetful story teller that stars falling to the ground can become skykids (that, or children of the light) and other ancestors such as possibly the candlemakers and the dawn elder could have come across some of them.
Furthermore, though is a bit of a stretch, combining the lore of the seasons of Performance and Prophecy, the children born from the light (stars) may have been able to reach the cave of prophecies and met the prophets.
What makes it difficult to properly make this connection is the fact that we do not see these children in person, or in memories. Though we do see them in murals and in the fact that us skykids are able to complete the trials, where living ancestors were not able to.

One final and very hypothetical leap in the lore chain, is the eden statues being possibly skykids (or again, children of the light, in the event of a distinction between them and us skykids).

If they were in fact among the ancestors during the time they were alive, (as in it can be proven as canon). Then that may explain why the spirits of the ancestors would respond to skykids and are willing to help them. If the first skykids were not strong enough to face eden (hence the statues), and us skykids are able to fair better, but not enough to completely cleanse the area of darkness, then only time would tell if us skykids may one day be able to complete the mission of saving the spirits and in some way bring balance to the darkness.

This is influenced by several theories of this channel, this is not the work of one user.
So, credit to the folks in Lore Chat for the knowledge gained to make this assessment.

Aight imma throw my far fetched theory in like an egg in a pan- This is a theory i posted here ages ago but it was way too far fetched- couldn't help but feel awed when this post was made by Ash. I still think it's far fetched but i can't stop thinking about it . Expanding on the theory however when we go to the upper area of harmony hall we can find a place where there seems to be 2 scrapped or in progress backdrops. One of them is eden with a power diamond. Both eden backdrops seem to be made while keeping in mind that eden hadnt occurred yet. This may be a show of what performance thought were the only two ways for eden to end. ( we going far fetched again. ) one way- the eden backdrop currently shows eden in ruins with the other realms less affected and the second way- the eden backdrop in storage to show if the explosion had evenly affected all the realms.

I assume it is the dark dust or residue that falls of krill.

In real life, masking one's scent with a creature, or possibly a predator may deter other creatures from attacking you under the presumption that if you smell like a dangerous creature, you would not be worth while attacking.

So, hypothetically, for skykids covered in the stuff, the krill still attacks, smells the darkness, and pulls up last minute.
This could be because it mistakes the skykid it was targeting for the ground and pulls up, or presumes the light is encased in darkness and would be left alone.
Meaning the repellent wont hide the skykid from a krill's gaze, but it would prevent getting hurt by their attacks.

i think that they are the precious souls of the statues in eden- in a sense. My theory is that when the explosion occurred people tried to escape but couldnt get out- and ended up into statues. While I understand that TGC does not want to introduce combat into the game, though there is some potential to introduce a pacifist means of dealing with hostile creatures all while not introducing combat that would encourage pvp.

Such as the example I used above, image a beast that resemble a bull or something along those lines and is made of stone charges after skykids. Then the skykids do not kill it, bt instead lead it away to a place where it can peacefully carry on with it demented behaviour as a creature corrupted by darkness and at the same time reward skykids by allowing them to safely explore the area the beast used to reside in.

In all honesty I don't see skyds using any 'weapon' props outside of corralling creatures elsewhere since I doubt they could actually do anything to a creature larger than a crab. The cutscene shows it swimming out of the gate when we opened it up.
Looking at the area, there is not much room for the creature to swim to. The waters around the islands are way too shallow for it to fit, forcing it to swim down.
Contrary to the beta, the live game did have the ravine, but to avoid curious skykids from accidently discovering it, the game had put in a underwater barrier and darkened it.
When the season progressed to that stage, the ravine is accessible and not as dark as it would be at the start of the season.

In my previous theory, I stated that blue gems store light, yellow means they contain light and red means they suck in light.

So as we know, a majority of the creatures we know of have gems on them unless they're too small to render into the game like butterflies.

So butterflies are a neutral creature of light. They can be charmed to sit in your hand and even give you light.

So why does the butterfly turn pink when they land on you and give you light?

My take on this is that the butterflies have a natural function to take in light from their surroundings and transfer it to you. The butterflies can do PHOTOSYNTHESIS.

Conclusion: Butterflies are producers, hence why they are in abundance and able to survive all sorts of environments as long as they have light.

My brain sparked with the fact the firework staff comes from the captain in GW, which leads me to believe that Skyds are potentially misinterpreting its use. It could have either been originally used as a weapon to send, well, explosive magic in an attempt to defend themselves, or potentially a tool for easily commanding and signaling troops and people via 'lightshow orders' of sorts.

Even the Yeti in dreams has some in their cave if I recall correctly.

It is interesting that despite the captain in wasteland has the staff to sell to skykids, but their memories do not show it up to where the skykid releases them.

I always thought of the firework staff actually supposed to be some kind of flare gun, mainly to signal SOS as their ship was sinking. Flare guns are commonly used for those sort of scenarios, and it's not just some weird coincidence that the firework staff happened to be from a captain who died with his ship when it sank

I like to believe the fireworks staff served multiple purposes overtime (especially as the kingdom's collapse progressed and the overall situation became more dire), with it originally being used for celebrations & whatnot before eventually finding use as a distraction for the krill (assumedly after someone tried using it as a flare & inadvertently attracted krill to their location)!

I figured it out!! The previous seasons apart from Abyss are all the events before Eden went nuke town. The spirits are covered in ashes or darkness due to Eden erupting, so I’m assuming from now on every reason will revolve around the new mechanic/features that happened after the events of Eden. Abyss is chronologically after the events of Eden because it’s a group of explorers scavenging for remains of the previous civilization.

So some spirits just die immediately, some get killed due to things like debris, landslides and general damage. I also consider Abyss an indirect consequence (likely starving or because of the king krill)

While I'm thinking about it btw - to add onto the idea that abyss is post-eden, all three ships in wasteland seem to be moving in the same direction. As far as I know, in the concept artwork shipwreck is supposed to be an escape attempt, so it wouldn't be a far reach to say the other ships were also trying to evacuate. Sadly, it seems only the abyss crew were successful

Shipwreck was clearly split by a giant krill and the whole area seems to have been destroyed. Likely no survivors. Looking at the setup of enchantment and the farm, it looks like they were downed by the one krill in the area, but managed to survive a while longer?

I’ve theorized that mantas aren’t really that edible, and that they were in over abundance because nobody knew what they could do with them. I think that mantas were mainly used for transportation/sport, hence why the Manta Whisperer is in Valley
