Here’s what I think: trade was used by on-foot (but rarely), flying boats, or creature-pulled. The items traded were usually butterfly pots in the early part of Sky and darkstone in the later part, although other items were also transported. However, it is quite difficult to traverse the realms normally, so the Wind Paths was made, which was a shipping hub used to transport items throughout all the realms.

I will admit the argument of “spirits don’t have confirmed genders so you can make them cos” does make me uncomfortable, because they are confirmed agender, and that fact already gets erased so much within the fanbase. That being said, there are lots of ways being agender can present, especially in terms of pronouns and gender presentation, so go wild

I don’t really get the distinction or why it’s needed either. If a society was all female (like some animals) we wouldn’t need a separate word to describe their gender just because it’s homogenous within their society, we still just call them female. Same thing here

ok but here's the thing. Here's the idea. lots of headcanons ahead.
my idea for why the spirit memories stay in the realms is that we're returning bits of the ancestors souls back to orbit, piece by piece, but we never seem to completely restore them in the Light. We basically need to be able to approach the diamond. you work with the new season spirits to calm the raging darkness so you can approach the diamond. maybe the quests r related to gathering items from the elders to do this. daleth breaks the diamond and then boom. spirits r permanently ascended. Their memories? gone
but memories are their imprints on the world, not the spirits themselves. In their place we see new memories: our memories, from when we first relived the spirits. we inherit the world in every aspect, including this one.
Now this wouldn't actually happen for a long long list of reasons but I like to think about it sometimes

The idea is that long ago, the shopkeeper ( ) traveled to a distant land beyond Home called the Aviary. It is similar to the LA Aviary, with some minor adjustments. When you arrive there, the Shopkeeper puts on a new style, with a wand resembling Daleth’s Elder wand and a headpiece. There are 5 portals, which open up as the season goes along. In it, you find Faux Realms, which are smaller past versions of the current realms. There, you can relive the spirits trapped there, and let them ascend. Finally, the Shopkeeper themself ascend, as the Aviary turns into an area filled with candles and benches.

okay I will try to summarize

I mentioned it above loosely with the whole needing to absorb elemental lights to use them. I believe that the enchantment crew and sanctuary guide did this, first either to survive or just because they were studying them, and the second to help with the bells.

I also believe that the inner light of those who absorbed it would be influenced by the colored light they absorbed, and that they would imprint on each other, meaning that the colored lights we find for enchantment have fragments of the spirits’ souls in them and that they are necessary to gather in order to ascend them. This also holds true for sanctuary, since we have to gather fragments of the cyan light to help the guide regain their memories and ascend.

Basically, the enchantment quests revolve around us gathering the lights of each spirit and bringing them back to enchantment guide in order to “complete” their ascension and being the two parts together. The sanctuary quests do the same thing on a more fragmented level

My idea is basically, doorways pop up near a place of notice in every realm.
(Per example: The Candlemaker’s Cave, the Sanctuary, the Campfire, the VIP seats at the end of Valley, the pipes by the end of the first area in Wasteland, and the end of Vault.)
These lead to a parallel world version of that loading zone. (e.g. you’d not be able to leave the area without leaving the parallel world). What these worlds would entail, I don’t know. But I have ideas.

Parallel Isle could be a more lore heavy area and would require solving the puzzle/problem in all other areas before opening.
Parallel Sanctuary could make the water purple and behave like the goop in Wasteland (but you can swim in it if you wanted to…) and you have to activate some things around the archipelagos to finish the mission.
Parallel Forest could be like Fire Trial, but without the dying from darkness. You again have to activate a few things around the area but these also double as your only light replenisher. And yes, there are Shadows.
Parallel Finish Line could be the second to last quest in which you have to think fast, dodge a chained krill attempting to krill you, and defeat it by getting it to attack a wall with a big rock on it a few times. (Don’t ask who supplies the rocks.)

I’ll do Parallel Wasteland and Final Point (Vault) later.

|| You have to fight a giant, monstrous version of the Otherworldly Guide, using either cannons that shoot you/friends/crabs/rocks at the foe, or by using the markers that I proposed earlier. It would attack you with krills/crabs/rocks that disappear and if they hit you, you lose 1 Winglight. Defeating it gives you a L O T of wax/Seasonal wax, and if you do it all by yourself without getting hit, you get some Ascended Wax too. Not a lot, maybe just like, 1 or 3/4 worth. The monster itself would be called the Parallel Otherworldly Guide (or, with my abbreviation system, Parallel Otherguide). ||

vultures are amazing animals. they deal with carcasses that would otherwise allow diseases to fester and spread. they're perfectly adapted to their niche in the ecosystem. They're beautiful, fascinating birds that do so much for the world around them. They live in countless environments, from searing deserts to frozen mountains. And, with Sky's themes of death and rebirth, vultures would absolutely be holy, respected animals. Sacred, even- I could imagine them being considered messengers and servants of Megabird themself!

I think red symbolizes the destructive side of flame - red light burning red-hot(glowing) carvings into stone, the flame within the krills being put to use only for destruction, the sky of eden being red a symbol of flame going terribly wrong and destroying everything, even the red crystals in eden being destructive towards beings of light

Yes. Sky itself is a large kingdom and subsequently a civilization. Eden seems to originally have been the capital, if you will, with the rest of the realms fanning out as other areas/possibly provinces under each of the elders. Especially as you get deeper into the realms, the evidence of civilization is irrefutable. Co-dependent bell towers, darkstone mines and doors, the blatantly civilized urbanization of Valley as a whole, Wasteland with its many buildings and technology, and Vault is definitely not something that would randomly occur in nature. Even Orbit seems slightly civilized with the giant stone circle and sparkle bridges. All of the areas are collectively referred to as the Kingdom of Sky

Trial and error
Starts with discovering if it’s possible to hold. Since skids only seem to lose winged light when getting hit hard enough to knock them down, simply picking it up or catching it should suffice
If it doesn’t all they’d need is some gloves or a bucket to put it in
Then we just take it and either slice it if it falls apart as easy as we see in eden OR we use the ye’ old method of making sharp objects by hitting the rock until a thin piece falls off

I am not going to even attempt to translate the Sky language because

1. I have no idea how it works and even if it’s similar to English (as stated here), it could use an entirely different language(s) as inspiration
2. I have no idea how to decipher fictional languages to begin with. It is not my level of expertise and it would be a lot of pain and confusion
3. theres very few instances of it in game. This makes translating a lot harder since we don’t have anything to compare it to, and means that even if we ARE successful, we’d barely get anything out of it
4. We have no clue if it actually is a coherent language and translates to something, or if it’s just random symbols meant to make the environment more immersive feeling

I would only participate in it if we got confirmation first that not only is the language translatable but it’s within our level of knowledge to do so, otherwise I don’t see a point

Guys I actually noticed something about Sky's lore. I've always wondered why it was always rainy in Forest, and I think I know why now. In the cave of Prophecies there's this painting showing every elders with Elemental powers. Prairie's elder seemed to use this power to cover the land with grass and flowers, while Valley Twins used the air power to levitate buildings into the air. I don't get it but the Desert's Elder used the Trial of Fire's power into some towers? And the Forest mama made the rain drop into the forest. Once again I don't understand why, but does it mean Elders actually created each trials or they just successfully completed them?

One theory that I is that beating the trials give you the Enchantment light associated with each trial. So, completing the water trial would give you blue light, which can be given to other people.

Of course, out of universe, anything goes, so at the end of the day it’s up to you

Just had a thought that destroyed me; Sky children ingame did not visibly form a society yet, so when they relive spirit memories, could some crave being part of something bigger ?
Browsing through a busy marketplace with friends or being part of the coliseum crowd cheering for racers will be experiences they will never personally have (in this state).

The world of sky is teeming with life, but not the kind that makes abandoned streets less lonely.

With the village theater being something sky kids can collaborate on to make something bigger than anyone could individually make, perhaps it could scratch the itch of being part of a project that isn't starting from scratch (the theater is still functional) and have another way to express themselves while forming bonds

I can't describe it well with words, but it's basically the closest thing to having what ancestors had, a part of society that isn't abandoned or in ruins.

Anyway, Performance guide being almost giddy at the idea of witnessing the first steps of skykid theater. They probably would love that they left us something to use and feel fulfilled with.

I don’t know what the ‘ding!’ sound is when we crash, but I headcanon it to be like a xylophone. It makes a pseudo-bell sound, similar to when the mallet hits the bars of a xylophone. The base masks seem to be made of wood, and as we pretty much all agree, skids are probably hollow. So when a hollow skid faceplants into something with their wooden mask, it sounds just like the instrument and reverberates in the skid

There are several documentaries that have spotted wall chibis purposefully faceplanting into objects to create beautiful musical pieces, especially Carol of the Bells

this is why sky reminds me so much of breath of the wild. in botw, you’re wandering through a nearly forgotten kingdom, full of crumbled buildings and the whispers of someone who once lived there. every now and then you stumble upon some sort of village or safe haven, but other than that, it’s just you and the open sky.

by the end of botw, you know that you’re going to rebuild hyrule offscreen. but sky doesn’t offer that kind of solace. you’re stuck in this melancholy loop where you know the world around you will never change, and that the only impact you will have is saving the people. you can’t move these mountains or rebuild these towns. you’re forced to sit and watch nature crawl over them and reclaim these ancient structures until you’re left with nothing but prairies, forests, and deserts.

I think it’s not that melancholy. What we see in the present is the ending of the Sky kingdom. Nothing changes here on out. It is in perfect balance, and we are only there to prevent it from changing.

The music there is like washing away of a past age and now a feeling of wonder and distant connection in the modern era. It’s kind of like the answers are as far away as the stars.
