Well, their insides are mostly (or entirely) light which is weightless. There’s been lots of theories about what their shell is made of, but I think the most popular has been clay. Cosmetics are usually theorized to be holographic-esque projections of the skid’s light. I would argue that some cosmetics (LP iap fox and Flight iap bird and summer and Nature iap turtle and jelly hat) are actual objects and not light, but again, just a theory. So if we postulated the surface area+thickness of the clay and assumed that they aren’t wearing any real cosmetics, we could calculate their weight based upon our physics and their height

Kinda random I suppose, but I really like our candle. It’s been used a lot- opening doors, activating sensors, lighting strangers, burning plants, lighting candles, lighting up the dark, it’s been through so much over the course of many months, even years. And it never burned out- it has been extinguished before, but it always got lit up once more, through krill attacks, crabs, drownings, rain, red rock rain and dying in Eden multiple times.
It’s always been, literally and figuratively, a light in the dark.
And I like that.

My Working Theory on the Composition of a Skykid
–clothing, hair, masks & other cosmetics made of light.
–a humanoid physical shell made of some magic-induced earthen material (i.e. clay, stone, ash, charcoal, meteorite) that has a hole in the chest and eyes.
–this hollow shell is full of light, such as winged light and neutral light.
–their cape, a manifestation of winged light.
–their flame, manifesting as the light in the hole in their chest and held outside their bodies via a red candle.
–their soul, appearing as a blue sparkle.

I think the struggle here is them being partially made out of light, which has little to no mass, and their physical material possibly being hollow.

The other inconsistency is how fast the player is.
While walking is a simple action, flying can differ when the player can jump and take off at different speeds depending on a player's reactions and skills.
The last hurdle would be measuring distance.

Perhaps, if anything a good way to test this is to time a player's top walking/running speed, and have the same player do this as a tall skykid and a chibi.
The same thing will be done with flying. With a standard glide from one place to another (preferably not including the take off action to avoid inconsistencies). Then a flap while gliding.

It may be tedious, though a small project one can do in a day after recording the tests and then comparing them side by side.

Theory: assembly kids are kleptomaniacs (people that can't stop themselves from stealing)
Proof: while the door in the second treehouse is a good indicator, it could be chalked up to needing to survive. Darkstones have been shown to be quite powerful, so having one wouldn't be such a bad idea (they probably use it for stuff like hoops). But then they stole the message of when they're coming as a ts and leaving. This was unnecessary for survival. Truly, they took it to hang on there treehouse as a prize (this is a joke)

Eye of Eden: I've been trying to figure out exact where you go through Eden, the eye, and where the orbit starts. The vault is in the mountain and under the eye. You can see the elder shrine of vault when you emerge into the "outer space" part of orbit. Obviously teleportation is a thing for sky kids so we get sent out of the mountain to start our trek to Eden. I believe that you could go to the vault to the Eden castle at one point and that it is now blocked. As we go up the "difficult" way to Eden, pnr (when we get the message for it) is right underneath the eye and the last part of the mountain. We then move into the eye of Eden which I believe is in the throne room and top of the old castle. We are IN the eye and moving towards it's opening. Once we assend after being turned into a statue, we get put into the astral part of the vault. With all the energy we build up from reviving the skid statues, and with the help of the creatures, we're able to burst through the blocked part of the vault. The eye/castle is not shown in apart of the astral world but outside of it in orbit. That's when you can look down to see the mountain and vault. I believe orbit is the afterlife and once we break through the blocked part in the astral vault, the spirits and animals can finally join orbit with us

One more thing. I have a new void continent concept, the grey surfaced abyss geographical region. Its a vast ocean of incredibly dense water or some other liquid. So dense that you can walk on it, and it makes it impossible to swim in it. The creatures that can swim through it are unknown, only a few common species have ever been documented, and while you can’t reach them, they can reach you.(the physics of this region are going to be a pain to figure out nonetheless animate.) the region sits beside the White Null, and is very grey( obviously)you can see the White Null’s reflection on the water all the way on the other side of the ocean/really big lake.

My favorite one is the idea that the Elders made the Skykids and teach us how to reach our full potential. Isle and Prairie elder show how we can interact with creatures, Forest shows how we can interact with the wider world, Valley shows having fun, Wasteland shows protection, and Vault showing knowledge. And they all request for our light: meaning that our candle light has so much power that has yet to be reached

this is very nearly headcanon but I like to think the Elders got their names (the time of day names that the devs use to refer to their realms) from the time of day their stars landed upon the Sky world.
Isle Elder is Dawn cos they were born during the morning.
Prairie Elder is Day cos they were born during the daytime, perhaps high noon.
Forest Elder is Rain cos they were born during a rainstorm.
Valley Elder(s) are Sunset cos they were born as the sun was setting, the sky full of brilliant colors.
Wasteland Elder is Dusk cos they were born during twilight.
Vault Elder is Night cos they were born during the night time, perhaps midnight.

This also corresponds with the idea of each realm representing a stage of life. One of the first things we learn as a child is how to interact with other living things, including light creatures (Isle and Prairie) By the time you teach your teenage years (Forest), you learn how to fit within society, which explains why you’re taught how to make Power Diamonds using your light. When you’re in your 20s (Valley), you should let loose and have fun, and The Valley Elders show this. But when you reach your midlife crisis (Wasteland), you have to learn to respond in the face of innumerable problems and threats. And when you’re elderly (Vault), you learn the power of teaching.

Oh, Lego Ninjago! I absolutely love that show a lot- even if it doesn’t have too much in common with Sky. The “full potential” vibe is similar though

It may be helpful to new players unsure where to go. But after playing the game for 2 years, fighting with the camera, it gets more and more annoying as your go through the realms and made to look at the same things over and over again. All while actually trying to look around and see what else the environment has to offer.
The game does feature some exploration, and perhaps a setting to disable the camera trying to be cinematic would be a great quality of life feature for the game.

I think what we need to do (and what I did) is finding how many wing flaps straight up it takes to reach the Prophecy Guide’s height. Because 1 wing flap is about 3.5 chibi heights. (This measurement should still be tested)

Dark stone is an ore, or mineral, that supposedly naturally exist in the ground.
That is what the light awaits concept art has suggested, and seems like what the current game is using when it introduces mineshafts and the like.

If anything, the power of light that charges the crystals might be from light creatures, as ancestors themselves do not seem to able to carry a light in them. Unless I am horribly mistaken.
Thinking about it, a spirit can charge a skykid, though very slowly, and the same can be said about the carried memory fragments.
Other than that, the charging rate skykids get from spirits are lower than from light creatures or each other.

Back to the Abyss island, I am convinced that the concept art found thus far support the idea that the abyss island had several projects.
There is the mine shaft to mine out a blueish stone, that could be the raw, unrefined, form of the dark stone. And the rooms that were used to contain and study mantas.

I believe what may have happened was when the ancestors were studying the light creatures, they may have attempted an experiment with them. What the experiment could have been is unclear as the interior of the structures have barely any furniture or items.
Had there been tools, a table with paper notes, or even a shrine of some sort to elaborate, there may have been more to learn. Though alas either there is a reason why there are no tools or furniture in there, or there were limitation to how much content there could be in the season.
A good guess could be some of the ancestors were priests or were able to manipulate the light like a magician.

Considering some minecarts still have some darkstone inside, I think the mines were still used when the area was abandoned; perhaps this was sudden too, you'd think the ancestors would have packed up everything they could if they had the time to, since darkstone is so precious.

The lab likely was here due to the proximity to the mines, perhaps to make the process faster by centralizing both extraction and refinery in the same area.

Here is an interesting thought.
Dawn has some floating rocks, though most of it are either in clouds, or supposed still in the ground waiting to be dislodged and float away.
Day has floating islands that usually have holes in them. This is either a natural occurrence cause by creatures, or mining out the stone ingeneral. Despite this, most of the rocks would remain floating.
While forest rarely have floating rocks, we do see the beginnings of man made structures floating such as the bridges.
Then Valley introduces entire buildings able to float on manmade platforms yet hardly any natural floating rocks.
Wasteland has no (intentional) floating structures as it is overrun by krill and the realm for the most part is crumbling apart. While there is evidence of floating stones (such as ruined boats and the destroyed refinery that is similar to the one in forest), the landscape is heavily polluted and abandoned.
Then Vault brings back the floating rock theme in full with the elevator being the main focus as the skykids rise to the top.

Perhaps this goes in sync with how flight is used during levels ? Isle and prairie pretty much are the baby steps, with prairie allowing you to fly higher and longer with the abundance of clouds, then Forest forces you to stay close to the ground or light sources, then Valley has almost vertical levels for you to soar through only to throw you down in the wastelands where, like forest, you have to fly sparsely to keep your light. Vault is the comfort after the hurt, and the calm before the storm.

Thinking back to Sky's predecessor, Journey, the thematic story line of the games are similar to each other, though have some differences to the timing, and overall message.
Both start off the journey with the players in a sandy area, players can help each other along the way, there is a distant mountain that is constantly reminding the player where their goal is, there is a light coming from the mountain acting as a beacon, players are able to learn about the history of the games' lore through murals and environmental story telling, both have large and intimidating creatures that will hunt them down and steal a piece of their light, both players can fly and gather more pieces of light to reach higher places and so on.
Levelwise, Vault is similar to the Tower in Journey, where the player is able to climb the levels and be reminded of how far they came and where they are headed. Even the level that follows has a similar theme of the player being discouraged to fly and trudge up to the top, while they are losing light until they can't go any further.

Both games have similar ideas that tie into their themes, though their main message is entirely different.

I feel like one should make a video that compares these games, and discusses how they can still be different.
Something along the lines of a documentary or an lecture that analyses the games for people to listen to.

There was an interview where TGC (I think it was Jenova) talked about how they got feedback about the game and heard one of the players asking if they could play with their family/friends. Which became one of the core aspects of Sky.
Where the friends you meet can help you along the way, as each one strengthen the other. As the skykids bolster each other, their combined strength enriches the gameplay.

Abyss was made by the survivors of the eden disaster, as we know that some people (forest, wasteland) survived for a while after the disaster. It was used to de-corrupt light creatures. The process began by first submerging the creature(s), cause they are already in tanks, then suffusing the water with light energy from light crystals/powered darkstone. This light sucked the darkness out of the creatures, which turned into dark water/oil (separate theory) which they then stored in that storage tower in commodore’s memory. They started with fish, but then dark mantas and krill were sent once they found out how to do it. When the mantas came they found out a certain amount of power would be needed for each creature (the same amount of darkstone in both cages despite three small in one and one big in the other). That’s what the mural of them studying the creatures is. (Also the bug guy was captured when they came to the area) They had just cleaned out the manta cage of dark water when disaster struck. The krill escaped their cage and started to destroy the area they were trapped in the giant tower. (Quick Note: the mine was used when they ran out of darkstone, and since they didn’t want to use the light creatures they built a tower high above the wall that kept out the ocean [why it wasn’t flooded originally] to magnify sunlight to power the crystals) The scientists managed to trap the krill in the tower but that meant that they could no longer continue their experiments. So they left. A few month later the eel smacked into the wall breaking it and flooding the land. (Side Note: the wall was a barrier like we see guarding the manta cages and the leviathan cage) That’s my theory on Abyss. {PS the manta we see is the megabird in disguise}

Well it can bestow powers on sky kids, like mega bird. It can blast apart the leviathan in a second, meaning it got caught cause it wanted to. It spawned hundreds of fish out of nowhere to leave the leviathan. This indicates powers similar to megabird: bestowing powers, destroying darkness, making light. Why would megabird come??? To check up on moths of course! (And everyone else) The only other time megabird sees us is when we go to eden. So how would it know that we aren’t just farming the land for our selfish benefit??? By bribing cannoneer into getting caught by the leviathan (with the big gem), giving us the power to get cannoneer back, and hiding in the leviathan, it can check up on us. It’s megabird’s strategy to make sure we are protecting the world. Plus checking in on moths, and seasonal ancestors.

At a glance, it is a stretch. But most theories are like that when there is not much evidence in the game to help fill in the gaps.

I like the idea, and will ponder on it to see how else the megabird might do this in the game.
What makes me hesitate for now is the idea that megabird is sometimes refered to as the Bird of Light in concept art.
Being a bird, it would make sense for it to appear as a bird in the sky world. Which it has done in the events of Light Awaits. Though since the current game has deviated from that plotline, this constantly brings up the question of what may have changed, what has not and what may have been added to the story.

What does come to mind on the megabird=manta idea, as I type this.
The season of flight seemed to have been geared towards birds in teasers, concept art and in some quests. Though the personally found the final quest turning out to be a manta made the season feel like it stumbled a bit. That aside, mantas have a decent presence in the season as well and are a common creature in the game.

Being the only creature to make an appearance in nearly every realm in the game (none are in Dawn, unless I missed them in the clouds after the temple. And none are in eden yet do make an appearance in the ascension section when leaving Eden towards Orbit. Where a manta would make an appearance there).

I am a fan of Megabird and hope there will be more to the creature in the future.

I personally believe that treasure reef was a refinery like the forest temple & second area of wasteland, because of the mantas trapped there and the murals, the refinery symbol being everywhere on it, and the heavy association with darkstone, meaning it caused the corrupted creatures, although this is almost definitely the darker option when compared to yours and I can see why some wouldn’t like it as much

What if, the elder bird does in fact make an appearance in the game?

In the ending scene in Season of Rhythm, the elder bird was seen carrying the rhythm spirits out of the valley coliseum. While I am not sure if this was a thing, in Light Awaits, skykids used to have a space they can visit that looked like a combination of Home and Orbit.
I recall seeing in one of the old game play videos where a skykid could see the elder bird flying in the sky while visting that space.

Assuming Orbit would stand in as the same space as the Light Awaits Home-Orbit, would TGC have added the elder bird flying somewhere in the space of Orbit?

The reason I say this is because the way you make darkstone function is by giving it your light, which it promptly steals in order to work [a bit like batteries]. It doesn’t give you light in return or recharge you at all — it uses up yours in order to perform functions like opening doors, making things float, etc.

It’s not too hard to imagine that the same thing would happen to a light creature [made almost entirely of the light darkstone uses] if they went near it or were used to charge it. Corrupted creatures, especially krill, are often found in the highest concentrations near the refineries, implying [to me at least] that the refinery process was the cause of their corruption

I have a theory about how ascend works (character limit split it into parts)

1. Human ascend human - the 8-player elevator
   Where the ceremonial spirit is, they are doing some sort of ceremony that involve a big dark stone at the middle and make a light beam with it. The high candle emote similar to when sky kids ascend spirit. Maybe, ascend ceremony?
   As I understand, in this world people can cast light magic and use dark stone to "hold" it, like that barrier in Abyss that disappear once we pluck the stone out
   Making a light beam like that must take a lot of light (hence 8 person needed), and they seems to use a dark stone to keep it going continously
   My theory is this is an ancient place where they used to ascend people before the elders come.

2. Star ascend human - temple's beam
   That man-made beam is faint and weak, and takes a lot of effort. After the elders fall, people no longer do the ascend ceremony, and just come to temple to have elder do the ascend for them. A nicer, bigger beam
   Stars seems to have more light than fantasy human there.
   Sky kids can shoot light through their arms to fly. When doing any emote that clap hands together while flying, we sort of making a light beam.
   I think the elders do the same, they somehow pull out the light from the body, shoot it up to Megan with a light beam, then people can do the rest of the funeral (burry the body? maybe explains the headstones at lobby?). Since they have more light, one elder can do the ascend alone.

YEAH this is what I think too! Not only is that diamond symbol there, but there are also refinery symbols from the forest temple scattered around the islands buildings as well, with one being on top of the lighthouse on a pedestal similar to the one in forest temple.

   At some point the elders need to go back to Megan, but seems like human can't ascend them. And because they were friends, they don't want to choose who stay to shoot others up (they may be ok with leaving Isle grandpa down there, but grandpa was to weak to do the ascend for 6 others)
   Then our shiny prince conveniently crash down, with more light than all of them. But even with that, shooting a beam like Eden's now must take a lot of strain, and maybe our prince couldn't do it. Or, may need a dark stone to help him do it
   So, they find the highest mountain in the land, build a huge dark stone, stuff the boy in to force all light out of him or have him stand near and shoot beam at it, making a beam huge enough to ascend them. But maybe Vault elder rounded up some decimal, or the prince sneeze while shooting, the dark stone overload and explode, effectively nuked them all

My theory on the Treasure Reef:

It was not built by the TSes - such grand structures need vast coordination which, to my knowledge was only achieved by the Sky Kingdom. Moreover, the architecture is mostly consistent with the Sky architecture, specifically the Eden architecture, being loaded with arches like the structures seen at the end of the Ascent, right before you see Vault Summit.

Therefore: My guess is that the Treasure Reef was constructed far away for larger experiments with darkness and diamonds, once the Skingdom learned about the spread of darkness - so that it could be quarantined should something happen.

Here's some context for the next part of the theory: I think that dark water is a waste product of diamond production, perhaps for cooling down the diamond while it's being made. Therefore, lots of water being around the diamond facility would make sense.

Something then happened, and somehow it resulted in the area flooding, or perhaps the spirits there flooded it (perhaps there were walls around the facility that kept the water out, and the spirits collapsed it?) At any rate, it quarantined the area, leaving the creatures trapped within to corrupt into krills and the Leviathan.

The bodies of the workers may have sank to the bottom beyond the wind wall

Theory on Vault/Eden connection
We have to begin this theory at wasteland. Throughout wasteland you are surrounded by water on two sides. Therefore this indicates that wasteland is on a peninsula. At the end of wasteland we find the elder temple/ fortress guarding vault. This would indicate that vault, and the fortress, are on the end of the peninsula, not connected to eden.

Second, TLP. I know some people don’t register TLP as a legitimate season, but it shows some interesting geographical layout to the world. First it would indicate that eden is walkable to from starlight desert, and that is comes up on the other side of the mountain from where you would normally come up. (TLP last quest prince enters from side of area) How does this work with my other theory that it’s on a peninsula???

One word: Portals. We know that vault has portals as they have the only actual Home Portal. We also know that isle has portals cause they have one to prophecy, these are the only two portals (I believe) outside of home and orbit. What do these two have in common??? They both don’t get an element in prophecy.

We know that the prophecy people were really advanced compared to the other realms besides vault (i.e. the trials), so that explains the prophecy portal. We know that vault is the most technologically advanced area… so it would make sense for them to be able to make multiple portals.

There are three I think in the vault. One: the portal to home, able to be made cause home is very easy to establish portals to and from. Two: the entrance to the starlight desert, able to be made by the magic powers of TLP and the Rose… this is why it looks like a broken hole in the wall… cause the prince made a portal and used his over-caffeinated energetic self to blast through the walls… this is also why it’s on the opposite side of the eden mountain. I’ll continue with the rest after the cool down finishes

Here’s the rest:
Three: the portal to eden… the room with the portal to home is actually in a smaller replica of vault, why we can see vault behind us in eden social space.
The elders made a portal, at the very top of vault, all the way to eden. You can see eden in every realm… so if you were the elders, had figured out portal technology, and saw that mountain every day, out of your reach, you would want to go there, right???

So I think the star at the top of vault is filled with darkstone… it doesn’t appear starlike from the inside, even looking through mantas to see the ceiling and walls, so something must be there, right??? And we know the room is not in the main area of vault, cause of oob exploring which is definitely canon… so I think that vault is a giant portal cannon that launches skykids, moths, and ancestors alike to eden. That is the reason eden and vault connect.

Screenshot here. The mountain isn't that wide so it's plausible for the building to go straight through, and we can see something that looks vaguely like the second area of Eden from the other side

I hate to keep ripping into the theory, but there's another inconsistency I've noticed, based on the Vault-Eden cannon thing.

It is an established theory that Vault is mostly a hologram, which is backed up by the blue shades of vault and the entire Summit melting away to a drab gray room, at which point there is a corridor right into the Eden Social Space, and we can even see a part of the exterior of Vault from there. It's a lot less plausible that there is a portal/cannon powered by an unseen diamond.

True enough I used to push for this idea, but sooner than later realised that it might do harm.

For instance, if a video gets made, fans and theorised would rush to the game and do their own sleuthing. Imagine new users joining the lore chat, analysing the living daylights out of the chat and asking more questions than working on finding their own answers (asking question is not the issue, it is more so an issue when it turns into a interrogation).

Unpopular opinion but I really don’t feel like Vault is holographic. That just doesn’t make sense to me. I’d like to introduce a new theory: shadows. Shadows and bad lighting make it difficult to see walls (especially dark walls). I’ve always thought of the level barriers as fog, which also decreases visibility

Also I would expect to see holograms in at least one other place? Y’know? To confirm that they existed at all. If it was implemented on such a large scale, I’d expect to see smaller examples too

The game has limitation and with that TGC has been known to have environments that are a little bit immersion breaking if you know where to look.
A Prime example would be the floating trees sitting out of bounds in forest. While it is assume we are moving through a great forest with many trees as far as the eye can see. The game itself cannot afford to render so much terrain if us skykids are not intended to go there, let alone see it.

It would be interesting, if not amazingly insightful if TGC would be able to render all of the realms in their entirety. So we can see what the world looks like as a whole, we will have to settle for mock ups of what the next area may look like, until we reach the loading trigger to move towards the next area.

There is a theory that basically means that the prince/rose wouldn’t have to do anything, and all of vault’s weirdness is caused by the effects of the purple light in vault that leaks out into the surrounding area. Let me explain.

[side note before I start and a note on how purple light works. I also don’t believe vault is holographic or illusionary in the way people usually think of those words as meaning a false, nontangible projection over reality. I will explain how I think it actually works].

So the first time we see purple light is in . When we give it to the guide, a series of tents and spots to buy spells manifests over the ark out of seemingly nowhere, giving us a hint as to how it works. We can interact with these tents, land on them, and do whatever with them. It’s reminiscent of when we pull out table or prop spells. This is how I believe vault works.

Since it’s so massive, so massive it would be a struggle to build by normal means, my theory is that every piece of architecture within the vault cave was manifested using Purple light. This still means that everything there is tangible, and acts as normal objects, wirh one difference: as time goes on the objects manifested by the light fade and start acting weird. The walls disappear into darkness and fade away. Random bits of architecture without any obvious use or meaning float suspended in the air. Everything past the fourth floor looks empty and void. And so on.

This is further supported by the prophecy lights that show the elders getting lights. Vault would’ve gotten either red or purple light, and due to this observation it is most likely the second

huh, I've always wondered why the spirits just don't tell skykids what happened that caused the fall of the kingdom. some put it up to an inability to communicate between ancestor spirits and skykids, which doesn't sit right with me.

I had a headcanon that the ancestors had a culture of not talking directly about things that bring them shame. the fall of the kingdom is something that they all feel guilty about, regardless of the degree of their involvement, so they all don't talk about it.

another idea I've been thinking about is that the spirits we find seem to be from various parts of the kingdom's timeline. there may be spirits who had lived and been petrified long before the events that lead to the kingdom's fall.

along the time lines, there could have been spirits who lived during the time period of the kingdom's collapse, but had been too far removed from the events that led to the downfall, whether just by living their lives the best they could or the events were kept a secret from the general public. so even if skykids were to talk to an ancestor spirit who had lived during the Eden calamity, there's a probability that said spirit who had no clue why Eden exploded one day.

Krill are corrupted light creatures. They are almost definitely not corrupted skykids, most likely more along the lines of corrupted mantas or whales

dark creatures were very likely not actually skykids. that's a joke, for the most part. though it's true that dark creatures used to be beings of light. Jenova Chen, founder of TGC, has stated that krill/dark dragons are corrupted, which many of us have taken to mean they are corrupted light creatures. what specifically they were before corruption we still don't know or even the means of corruption, only that darkness might've been involved.

when you complete the Vault of Knowledge on the cinematic the one from the Wasteland Elder shows them fighting and there is a skeleton
presumably of a Krill, that means they existed long before the kingdom fell and when the vault was being built

worth noting that passive crabs, like the two in the outer islands of Sanctuary or the few in the Office, don't have darkness flakes on them. the aggressive dark crabs always have darkness flakes on them. there are also a series of murals in the caves adjacant to the Forgotten Ark that depict crabs and ancestors peacefully coexisting, ancestors polluting the water, crabs entering said water, then the crabs chasing off the ancestors.

perhaps passive crabs are the native state of crabs. it was only with the presence of darkness attacking their inner light did they become aggressive.
aka crabs have darkness rabies.

Megabird is the so-called god of Sky, a manifestation of the Light or the Light itself. I like to think of Megabird as the consciousness of the hivemind of the Light. you can see Megabird after the end credits while descending from Orbit (first image)

the Elder Bird is a light creature that has only been seen once in game during the final cutscene for the Season of Rhythm. it was hinted at in the Light Whisperer's character card (second image), but was never seen in game during the Season of Flight, much to our disappointment.
