would anyone like an Essaypost about the proph/ench lights

okay so the whole implication around abyss, with water [esp the deep ocean] being connected to darkness, really got me thinking. Of COURSE the deep ocean is a place heavily associated with darkness — there’s no light there, and any light that’s brought into it doesn’t reach nearly as far as it does above the surface. It’s cold, and although it’s far from devoid of life, it still feels so… empty. Since the deep ocean is connected to darkness, we can say water in general is as well, for symbolism reasons, and because it makes sense. I mean, water is the entire reason the deep ocean is Like That in terms of light, right?

But this leads to an implication. Red light is obviously connected to darkness, which makes 2/6 lights connected to darkness. If we find one more that is, it’s an even split between darkness-aligned magic and light-aligned magic, which feels like the intuitive course here.

It was a toss up between earth and air, because fire is instantly disqualified, and I chose earth. Just like lots of water being in one place = darkness, lots of earth being in one place = darkness. The underground is dark and isolating. Light doesn’t travel far there either, it seems very barren as a whole, etc.

TLDR: you can divide the colored lights in half between those that are aligned more to light and those that are aligned more to darkness.

Maybe it's another barack still in GW, after all the "forbidden city" in concept art shows Wasteland to be a huge city of blinding lights... now we saw just 3-4 buildings

Or maybe blue paint has fallen over the time revealing the few symbol we see.

Another option could be that who worken on the new concept forgot a details or experimented a new one. Or maybe this was a draft building from a previous point in development which now is coming to life (simikar case to that sort of "black hole" darkness which ended up becoming the Fire Trial startin point)

You need to exit from the temple door, but instead of flying into the cloud you need to get on top of the temple, there is a strong wind wall there, so you cannot fly onward, but oddly enough you can easily walk behind the windwall

Once you passed it you can fly again towards that corner room direction and fall into it (careful, with the new swimming system you risk to dive below the water level and fall at the bottom of the nothingness of the map)

If you have not much wingpower you need to use well gliding to land on top of the temple exit door, then flap a bit vertically to touch the clouds and recharge before walking past the wind barrier

But anyway that secret corner room is barren, even if it's a nice spot

In an old Sky Light Awaits (Old Beta) video I watched there used to be the Thinking Spirit analysing a contraption wheel, made of different concentrical disks, each rotating at different speeds so that dots on different rings composed various spiral patterns

1. the Tearful Light Miner had a intact tombstone back then
2. In old Forest cutscene the Elder lifted the diamond to insert it on a "golden container" meaning those might have some amplification property for powerstones

What the Trials train contemporary skykids for is up to debate (if they are “training” us at all), but we see from the Cave of Prophecies that the Trials were originally to find a Chosen One who would unlock the colored lights from the end of the Trials and possibly unite the realms around Eden. Which happened — contemporary skykids follow the Chosen One’s footsteps and see the prophecy come to fruition via the appearance of the murals.

The reopening of the Wind Paths are a sign of the world recovering from darkness. They probably closed due to neglect and the oncoming darkness (see: Flight quest 4). They are also convenient. The seasonal areas they go to are out of the ways and liable to be neglected. With the wind paths, various places throughout the realms are more accessible, which can be used for more purposes rather than warfare.

Assembly simply reasserted a central theme of Sky: togetherness and companionship. With friends, working together, people and skykids can accomplish so much more than they can alone.

Yes, skykids aren’t an efficient means to countering the darkness and some things, such as reversing the effects of corruptions on dark creatures, may be totally beyond their capabilities. But they are able to do small yet impactful things, such as saving people (Cannoneer) and light creatures from being lost to darkness. We don’t know for sure how the leviathan got there in the first place, but the murals around Treasure Reef imply that the ancestors created the leviathan, whether intentionally or by accident in the process of making power diamonds.

War is so antithetical to Sky’s main theme — rooted in divisiveness and hostility, leading to destruction and devastation. We see the consequences of the ancestors’ war most acutely in the Wasteland. There’s also a theory that the Wind Paths originally closed to slow down the war effort by making travel less convenient.

Of course, the only thing stopping skykids from going to war among themselves is their innate love for companionship among themselves, but they are not monolith. They are also kids. I doubt they can create an all out total war with devastating effects on the landscape but they could divide themselves into factions and fight by squabbling, leaving all but hurt feelings and grudges

Like, in game they follow a specific path, and since they're technically 'machines' since they're video game monsters, we don't have to worry. But in universe our kids are probably worrying the Krill is just gonna decide to look to the left suddenly, or change their prowling path on a dime. The lore makes krills extra scary

If you see that they’re called saplings, thats probably because (even during their first visit last year) they are typically small, not fully grown, until they are a daily quest.

Fun fact, there is a massive red bud outside my house. And what I mean by massive is its 2 times the size of a regular sized red bud. The sky red buds are regular sized by the way.

The funny thing about red buds is that they arent actually red, they’re more of a purple or magenta. I’d love to have a red bud cape.

I would probably be a sky botonist or something if there were any plants to talk about. Instead we’ve got glowing spheres, giant jelly fungus and kelp, generic grass, and already dead trees. The flowers in the 8 player secret area don’t actually count as that is instead a reference to Flower, another game by tgc.

those aren't necessarily their canon names. The Elders (and king/prince) have names based off Hebrew letters from concept development (hence that reference to Tom Zhao) that are no longer canon, though the fandom sometimes refers to them as such:

So here’s something I’ve noticed: in the murals seen in the vault elder cutscene, the constellation that runs along the vault elder looks extremely similar to the isle constellation

the vault mural in that cutscene is also kind of odd compared to the rest of them, the first thing that appears is the constellations as we see them appear throughout vault, and then the full mural appears. In all of the other murals, that initial constellation goes dark and is replaced by one made of stars when the mural appears (which is kind of frustrating bc they usually don't perfectly line up and you can still partially see the darkened version) BUT in vault, the kind of sharp looking version stays illuminated

It kinda helps tie all of the 6 realms together (dawn included) and place Eden aside.
Especially with Eden not having a constellation shown in the realm, except for a similar looking one in home, where skykids can access Eden (if they dont want to run through Vault that is).

At the end of the day, sky is a game made by humans. We can only go outside the realm of humanity so much before we just can't comprehend anything else.

That could just be one of the spikes atop the walls. Or some form of other rubble. Not likely to be A resh head seeing as to how all the other resh statues are built with far more detail to the head. And even then, all the rubble is nearly unrecognizable so there really isn't anything we could say. I also don't see any evidence of a refurbishment at all. The only design left was probably carved into the stone. Cloth decomposes fast, and from the spirit memory that we relive there, it seems it was used as a lookout post after its destruction. Now who's to say it wasn't at least reutilized during the supposed war. But in the end, the remains and this art line up one-to-one, and I doubt the building was important enough to receive a resh statue on top, or wasn't worth the hassle since it was already built beforehand.

There's this concept art of Resh or "the king" that has the child and the child on the giant king entity. The child's is completely colored with off-white and has a mask and a sort of parka esc thing on. I theorize the king was completely or mostly composed of light, and if the king was always just sat atop a big platform and not moving themself, then the light consuming parasite that is the darkness would find this motherload of food and easily be able to consume it.

to bring up another isle - vault/eden connection, there’s this carving that appears above the door into the isle temple and several times over doors in eden (eden images are from salem’s mural doc, tysm salem I never would’ve seen the eden ones on my own)
they also both have the boat shape underneath the figures, implying that the opened the same way and might’ve been completely identical doors. not sure about them being identical though, i don’t have full images of any of the doors

i just really like all the nods to the levels in the endgame, i bet there's something like that in the eden castle too since a lot of people pointed out the part where you slide through a tunnel reminds them of the sliding race

it kinda feels like, after a long life, holding onto everything you experienced and repeating them over and over to keep a simulacrum of integrity before you expire and it's all over.
Although the Vault seems to do that in a more meditative way, as if reflecting on one's life, and Eden would do it in a desperate attempt to keep holding on until the end.
Perhaps the ascent to orbit would be looking at that life one last time before letting it go and being on your way to start anew or join your ancestors...

I have been thinking about a Headcanon that wasteland was, in order:

• thriving city, maybe grassland biome?
• flooded almost completely, leading to a super high water level. Graveyard and shipwreck areas would’ve been mostly underwater, probably as well as battlefield just due to how low it is to sea level. Other areas are less affected, but still covered in shallow water, with all buildings built on small low islands above the surface.
• water receded drastically later on again, and suddenly. Between this point and the original grassland, the graveyard had become part of the ocean, and this drastic shift killed many of the creatures inside, leaving their bones exposed.

There are some issues with it, esp because of the weirdness it implies with wasteland temple, but Hmm

Ok, everybody remembers the very first set of murals we see in isle, right? And we all know that the reading that accompanies these doesnt make very much sense……
for the ancestors

But after a while of just being confused and trying to make sense of what it all means, a thought popped into my head, “…….the previous batch of sky kids-“ so I went through it all using those skids for context instead of the ancestors and it makes more sense to me. These sky kids were stars, and connected with everything, other stars, ancestors maybe, light creatures, mega bird, they lived in the sky infinitely and always shining. They called the sky their home and “As spirits, we soon became many” the ancestors and stars continued to grow in number. But then the darkness event began and these stars were sent down, (I’ll be adding in the context of their purpose here) they gave themselves up with their light in an attempt to save the kingdom. (Real quick, note how there isnt a comma between their light and we faded.) But now that a long time has passed by, the old stars sent new stars down to save their “spirits.”

This is in the perspective of the previous batch of sky kids, or in these murals, stars. The spirits were refferring to ancestors, they called them spirits because(assuming a sky kid wrote this once they fell or through the prophecies of the prophecy spirits) they’re already dead by the time we arrive. When they say”As spirits” they probablg mean just as ancestors or similar to or like ancestors. And when they say “retourn our spirits to the stars” the old sky kids are telling us to sheperd the ancestors now spirits. That or by spirits they’re refferring to themselves, seeing as to how the last mural has a winged light which is used only for sky kids.

Ok, so candle maker has 2 murals, both of which are a bit confusing. But after a bit of thinking, I have some possible answers, unfortunately I’m not very confident in them.

Ok so for the first mural, it shows 6 ancestors seemingly giving praise to 3 candles and maybe also the stars above. Part of this is probably just showing that they hold candles dearly in their culture, but the other part is iffy. I think the mural is trying to show some relation between the stars and the candles and maybe even the ancestors. It could be saying that the ancestors praised the stars and used candles in their culture because the flame looked like stars, it could also be in relation to the spirits of the time, because candles have relation to the souls of living things, especially sky kids though this isnt related to sky kids. But sonce skods are the stars or relate to them, the ancestors could too.

Now the next mural is of ancestors giving praise to the isle elder who is sitting on a cloud, with the stars above them and the isle temple behind them with 4 bouts headed over there. The complicated part of this is that I don’t know when this mural takes place. But it might be when isle elder was the only one, or at least the one in power. But either way, I’ll try to figure it out to the best of my ability. It could be the ancestors giving praise to the isle elder for being a sheperd to the light. I am the least confident in my theory for this mural.

This was another piece of evidence for my theory about the king coming really late, that I straight up forgot earlier. Because if stargazer and voyager and the lightseeker were together, the stargazer found the king, and the Lightseekers were trying to find light in a rapidly darkening world, then…

They do look more similar to candles, but it may not be an exact vision of that spirit memoru, but a general prediction of the Lightseekers. Maybe they get light from candles, or are happy when they find it there.

Again, this is not a prediction of that exact memoru, but a general one. Excluding the guide, who we don’t see interacting with the others in days of bloom, implying a degree of separation, there are 6 lightseekers.

We still don’t know ALL the stars fell. There could be some left over; they appear in forgotten ark murals as well, which IMO is a bit weirder.
Saying those are definitely candles because this is candlemakers memory isn’t a great assumption; their visual resemblance is better evidence. There are candle making tools scattered around the spirit memory, which is what we would have learned they’re a candlemaker from.

I shared my own theories about the murals and they were all nearly completely ignored except one where only one person said something and it wasn't even about my theories. And then somebody else stated one line about a vague mural and suddenly everyone is accepting it as fact and having actual conversation about it. I put in all this effort to share my opinions, only to be ignored and overshadowed.

Is it something to do with me, did I do something wrong? Do you guys feel as though I did something wrong? I know my theories didn't get missed because they were big and in the open, and chat had been stopped long enough to see them. People only reacted to my theory about the first murals, and somebody said something about another. I'm sorry if I did something wrong, I just wanted to share theories and ideas.

Why doesn't mine make sense, and why doesn't anybody say anything about that. Please just listen to me and ask questions if you need more to understand my thoughts. s'ok! rejecting voyager seems to be there helping piggyback with something related to the light. My guess is that maybe they found the altar boat thing first, or they just arrived first, as they only appear in the memories once you get into the actual cave after the tunnel. Based on their own memories, voyager seems to hold a lot of respect for daleth, and ergo the light, which is probably why they're there in the first place

It would have to be delivered very subtly. Obviously, the lore behind Sky is decently dark, but it’s still a kids game, so if we do get darker themes it wouldn’t be too much of it, sadly. Although considering what happened with Fire Trial and the last quest of Abyss…I guess it just depends on how far the devs think they can go. But point is, darker themes would likely be hints, not full blown in our faces. (Maybe. Probably. I don’t know where I’m even going with this. )

I've been pondering with the idea of ancestors could be infected with darkness, say by getting darkness flakes or polluted water in open wounds that could be as small as a scratch, allowing darkness to leech off of them. it travels through their physical body like a blood infection. if it reaches their inner light, the darkness is irreversible and can sprout into plants, ultimately killing them.
