Yeah, that's my thought. That we inserted ourselves into their memories to change what happened. Now, they think that Cannoneer was rescued, instead of dead inside Leviathan's jaws.

That is one theory, yes. That we are acting out the Quest Guides actions but since they didn’t have the same powers they did, they died thanks to the Leviathan along with Cannoneer.

To add to that, I think that Abyss Guide has always known we were changing their (the crew's) memories, hence the reason why they help us get into the crew during the quests. They don't want the crew to think anything's off, so they help us integrate ourselves in. However, in the end, they can't ascend with everyone else, because they still know the truth about Cannoneer and thus is still held back by it.

lore on what the bones in graveyard belong to and why did they die?

According to concept art, the bones would be from a light creature that died from unnatural causes.
As to what it was, it is highly likely that it was a Whale.


This is based on the face plates matching the living creature and the call being a fish call.
A possible reason to why it is called a fish call and not say, a whale call, is based on the fact that the whale (or big fish) was the only fish-like creature other than the tiny koi fish in the game. Since the Season of Abyss, the name might either be a general fish call, or may need to be updated to clarify that it is the whale, or big fish, and not the other kinds of fish we now have in the game.

To compare, the manta call, cosmic manta call and pygmy manta call may represent the different kinds of mantas, but they encompass the mantas in general, even with the exception of the pygmy manta call representing the baby mantas.

To clarify why the creature is mentioned to be a whale and fish is because of the spirit and the call.
The spirit that gives the call is a blank ancestor (meaning it has the default outfit, no mask, cape or hairstyle), that may not appear during the memory (burning the dark plants and the skeleton makes the call, which is frankly a bit creepy), though does appear when you interact with the spirit at the gravestone or through the constellation.

The spirit is called a Whale Whisperer, while the call is referred to as a Fish call.
Even the emojis on the server does this in a similar way.

Come to think of it, if the spirits were to have actual names (not ones that describe their position or actions).
The whale whisperer may as well be called Jonah.

Mostly because of the fact that the biblical tale involved a big fish, which was what was translated from the Hebrew text for the Bible.
Although some depictions interpreted the term 'big fish', or 'great fish' to be a whale.

Seeing that we do not see the spirit with the skeleton, I like to have this head canon that the creature was corrupted, or in the process of being corrupted, has eaten the ancestor and died.
Take note, there is practically no evidence to support this idea, hence why it is a head canon, and not a theory.

It could be a funny story to tell moths.
But perhaps not before they go to the Treasure Reef to have a similar experience first hand by the Leviathan (or King Krill, beast, mega krill, monster, etc.).

It is subtle but noteworthy detail that when spirits come and go, they do take off into the sky in the same way we summon them down through the constellation.

One can see this with the spirit upon opening the game, or when a travelling spirit arrives/departs at reset time. Granny does this too during meal times.

Skykids must go to them at every quest checkpoint of the season.
We even see the mother hug the skater girl and attend the show with the other spirits, however she is standing apart from the spirits.

The game is open to interpretation after all, so the the guide would be at the least be a role model for the skatergirl. Therefore the title aunty, mother, or a parent/guardian of the skater girl would have to suffice.

Not sure if this is the place to ask, but can someone give me a bit of lore or backstory on what the wasteland used to be? A friend of mine believed it to be a industrial area but the castle and battlefield makes me feel it had a more medieval vibe

But based on old concepts it was a factory and fortress built for an enormous battle

The realm is known to be a militaristic and industrial.
This is based on the building that look like factories, the little to no natural foliage (trees), which makes the are seem urban, or barren.
The pipes spilling dark sludge also suggests an industrial feel.

The medieval vibe might be related to the catapult, swords and shields. I am not sure if the realm would be medieval based on just those facts.

One specific concept was that the king ordered the wasteland elder to build a fortress for a giant creature attack since they were using dark stone too much and slowly turning evil
But a famous theory is that they changed it to a war on people instead of creatures. This is pretty long but to explain it shortly, not everyone liked the idea of using dark stone so they ended up fighting each other. The ones supporting the natural light carried sun shields, and the ones who supported dark stone used the diamond shields
But like I said, these are old official concepts and fan theories, so we can’t rlly say what ACTUALLY happened

Adding to that, the elder may have/was forced to switch sides.
This is an odd theory but the few evidence that implies this, lies in the elder's shield compared to the shield in the constellation.

The constellation shield is a kite shape, the same shape that the diamond shield were, and with swords were storming the temple.
The Elder's actual shield however is a rounded sun/light shield, that the defenders of the temple were bearing.

Assuming the elder was once a member of the diamond faction, it would be interesting to hypothesize if the elder may have switch sides and started to defend the light, which could mean the elder was a champion that won the war, but at a great cost. Furthermore, what if the elder was not the one to have build the temple originally?

What if none of the elder temples were built by their respective elders?
Wouldn't it have been the ancestors that built them instead?

These are just loose and hypothetical ideas.

During the 7 days of sky event it was said that they originally intended for it to be creatures versus the people, so i believe part of what they were trying to say was that creatures arent involved in the current lore ( anyways i just wanted to point that out, have a great day) oh and i find this quite suspicious, do what you want with it. "This was the time when we thought that the fall of civilization was related to the war they had against creatures. The current tone of Dusk was established around this time of development."

Birds and plane pilots avoid flying over sea for longer than necessary and prefer flying over land for as long as possible by flying over straits; maybe it's the same for ancestor boats who they may have preferred to use close to the sea or land when carrying big cargo for extended amounts of time, in case there's an emergency.

Also I really don't get what you mean by vertical bridges, the only vertical movement you will get on a bridge is if you're spider man and climbing on it
One can just take stairs up a building then cross a bridge in altitude to reach the building across.

In the prairie village and bird nest, you can see docks aren't necessarily by the sea, they're just platforms attached to floating islands where flying boats can stop.

In your pictures, the dock for flying boats would be attached to the bridge.

There's no floating island in GW, true, but its neighbor realm got some ! Maybe back in the day the two realms weren't separate and while GW was industrial and poorer, Valley was more touristic and richer.

The GW social area is attached to Valley, you can backtrack if you came here from the temple, so it's possible that in the past, it linked to floating islands that are now crashed on the ground.

About the discussion of floating islands, remember those in Valley are artificial, unlike the ones found in Bird Nest, Sanctuary and Wind Paths! Seems only places with high affluence of light creature get natural floating islands as well

There is one minor difference I’ve noted between the two structures, apart from, you know, all the obvious destruction. The pathway after the center platform is much thinner in the Wasteland version then in the Forest one. Probably doesn’t meant anything, but there is a difference there.

With the wind paths, the storm seemingly tried to take it over because it was revealed, so perhaps not all areas were reachable by it until they were uncovered enough for its influence to slip through.

In a weird way, that little quest made me wonder if the storm is influenced by something a little more sentient. Same with the Krill with how they seem to shift areas based on activity. When you open the gate at the end of GW to get into the shrine area, three krill end up getting attracted to it which doesn't happen a lot.

That may factor in the theory that the Darkness could be a somewhat sapient force just like the Megabird is for the light. Not that it’s fully aware, but it has “instincts” that can sense the best opportunities to take over the light side and acts accordingly.

Right. With how some of the Krill move, and even how the storm sometimes seems to target points of vulnerability, I imagine it has enough sense of being 'alive' that it can feel threatened

If the darkness is using the giant, fractured crystal, I wouldn't be surprised if it was trying to empower itself using stolen light. Even the red crystals actively try to draw the light out of those that get to close.

Ye, that's just one of the two ideas I have for the Storm when it comes the a conclusion for it, it either ||continually rages in Eden but only in Eden|| or it gets contained and stopped in a final final season of sorts and we get to see the king or prince in some way or form

If that's the case, I think that by freeing the child statues found at the last part of Eden, we inadvertently feed the darkness with light as red stones sap and smash the light out of us. Maybe perhaps if the cycle of saving those who were lost from saving the others were to be stopped, maybe the darkness will weaken, assuming that it does feed off of light

Perhaps our Journey is some kind of Sisyphus complex all along. We go through so much hardships in order to prevent something that's inevitable to all Sky Kids. That is, getting petrified by the darkness in order to save the ones that fell before us

It would be quite an unorthodox and poetic way to end the story if it was revealed that we aren't exactly stopping the storm. Rather, we're feeding it and by the time players start to decline in activity, the storm starts to cease raging, further implying that we were causing the storm to continue ravaging by feeding it light, ultimately for the selfish desire of Megabird's self preservation. If no soul or spirit flows through Megabird to be reborn, then he himself will cease to exist

think of darkness as literal all-consuming blackhole, it doesnt necessarily need light to sustain itself nor to make other entities with it because it exists with or without light and so will the entities that will be infected by it or will root from it. but it is in its nature to capture light and only contain light in anyway it can.

i believe Dark plant's growth and size depends on the corruption it is rooting from within an area, rather than the abundance of light, hence why places exposed to environmental light like the geyser have smaller plants despite having an abundance of light but does have a small pocket of corrupted pond. basically plants are storage units like our wedges

i mean in a technical sense, it is a downgrade from its roots and an upgrade to its evolution because its nature's logic to survive efficiently, and following your example, being friends with a species that is capable of domestication and care proves just that. but both wolves and dogs sure are great at what they do

there isn't a lot of evidence to suggest skykids existed or didn't exist at the same time of the ancestors except the fallen skykid in Ushering Stargazer's memory, which was changed in Season of Prophecy, so the running theory is that that skykid it the Chosen One depicted in the Cave of Prophecy murals. that skid was either the first skykid, a proto-skykid, or the only skykid to live among the ancestors.

I like how the elders treat the sky kids like kids. Well, Forest Mama is rude, but isle and prairie elders shows us magic tricks, Valley Elders don't remain serious and turn playful, Wasteland shows off for us and looks at us gently, and Vault Elder is basically gentle parent incarnate. Like, they truly do have the wisdom to be aware of what our kids are. It'd be all too easy for us as people to forget when the sky kids have a very important job, but the elders don't.

As the name implied it was blue instead of Red, and as it was in Light Awaits beta, it was not released to the public.

On LA ending text, I like to think it's still relevant to live, pretty much cements the presence of a Prophecy and the foreknowledge of the coming of sky children.

okay pardon my Christian upbringing (am agnostic), but in Christianity, the soul is associated with connection to God while physical bodies can lead the soul astray by "needs/sins of the flesh" like carnal desires, hunger, and whatnot associated with the body. it is only by the body dying are humans truly free from the flesh. their spirits can ultimately reunite with God in heaven no longer "burdened by sin."

perhaps the Sky kingdom had a similar train of thought. the ancestors had inner light (their soul) providing a connection to the Light, but they also had physical bodies they had to satiate. those needs and wants aligned them with darkness. it was only when their physical bodies died were they free of the whims of "darkness," truly as spirits of light.

though they needed to ascend and reunite with the Light in part because of the whims of the world and in part because darkness would petrify their spirits

I have Mixed feelings about the spirits we save all living post apocalypse. It fits oddly well for most, but not for all. I do like it a lot because it gives us an explanation as to why we have to save those specific spirits instead of all of them — that explanation being that they all lived after the apocalypse and couldn’t ascend because of the darkness — but I just can’t see it for, say, the dreams spirits. I also really like the idea because it makes every spirit really bittersweet.

Here’s an incomplete list of spirits I can’t see it applying to, either for timeline reasons or just… vibes.

• Dreams spirits [vibes]
• Shivering Trailblazer [timeline reasons, their memory seems like they were exploring a newly discovered Forest]
• …Most of the Hidden Forest spirit memories, honestly.
• Ushering Stargazer - although the idea that the kid in their memory is just a normal ancestor who just fell right before the apocalypse… I can agree with that
• Rhythm spirits

There are a lot of spirits I’m kind of neutral about fhis applying to. Mostly base game spirits like the Shipwright, but that’s just because we don’t get tons of info on them during their memories, and they don’t have unique designs that would give that vibe like Abyss spirits do

To be fair, given assembly, maybe the forest kept on being discovered and rediscovered, with plants reclaiming buildings that could change the terrain

ok, since the server is quiet. I am going to share a thought, and something I found in Sanctuary island.

While messing about in the island like a little gremlin, I came across something interesting.
Those who were on this channel long enough would recall the fractured boat room in the caves in the Forest area. The one with a boat, but half of the model is fractured, or partially deleted. This area is only accessible by OOB.

In Sanctuary island, there is a room with a similar thing going on.

Here is the screenshot that shows this, it is hard to tell from the picture alone though.
What I could feel out and deduce is there may have been a room that had a stone archway. One that branched off from the Jellyfish cave.
The boat seems to have been similar in size to the medium sized boats one can see in Light Awaits, that or could be similar in size to the boats we ride to the Forgotten ark/Treasure Reef. I may be wrong though, since the majority of the boat is invisible, but the collision is still there (meaning, you can fly into it and stand on it).
The room itself does not exist, which could be because it would be part of the island itself, and it does not show where the room would have been from in bounds.

I wonder if this cave boat would have had a mural, or meant something to the season.
It is close to where the bugged mural was after all.

Any thoughts?
Would this be a simple case of a scrapped room that was not completed in time, or something else?

I think it may just be a prototype for the boat we see in the new trench area of sanctuary, which never got deleted/put away like many other oddities in sky. Its seen in ( i think the last) flight cutscene that boats like that were used by the sanctuary folk, perhaps the boats could be given by the flight or they couldve just been boats like these chilling around.

Same. Most likely a scrapped room or feature that was never implemented but simply remained there for whatever reason. Maybe the boats there were even supposed to be used like the ones at the end of flight where they were flying around, but it was removed.

You have a point, it is possible these assets could have been used elsewhere the area. Things could have been moved around and potentially left OOB, and/or deleted.

The boat in the trench may be bigger that the one in this island though.

The reason I think it could have been a room is where the arch is near the section where you fall down the tube and land on the jellyfish, and the boat is away from the arch and left in the empty space. Which to my mind looks like it would have been big enough to fit in a room.

I suppose the best way further investigate this is to look back in the beta chat and see if there may have been mentions of screenshots that would show this.

Vault elder calmly listens and offers advice if you want it, and positive words or affirmations if you don’t

Isle elder doesn’t really know what to do but is somehow the most comforting
They probably give you a quiet space to hang out and get away in that’s surrounded by the little noises like the butterflies giggles and gentle wind against the sands

Forest elder listens to the rain with you and shows you their favorite spots and places to go to: to distract you from what youre feeling

Maybe by the lightseekers’ time the elders had already been trapped in their pocket dimensions, so for them it would be a lot like how we have to find spirits and bring them to the elders

The bloom saplings are a sign of regrowth after the disaster and a very welcome sign — since all of Forest’s mature trees had been petrified, it was possible that that species had went extinct. When fully grown and blooming, light showers down from them like petals, which is why the Lightseekers are so interested in them. They know how to help grow and take care of them, which they teach us in order to help us further spread light throughout the world.

It’s common for skykids to leave gifts at the base of ancestors graves and the start of spirit memories, while candles are the most common, especially since the light will be recycled once it burns out, skykids will often leave gifts they think the ancestor would like, such as shells for shell collector

I forget if I’ve said this before, deepest apologies if I’m repeating myself here, but I think ancestors were deeply connected to art, so much that despite the kingdom’s destruction we still get to see and hear a lot of it today. I think skykids would pick up on it too, so skykids and ancestors alike have a deep connection to the arts, whether performance, visual, musical or anything, it’s very important to them. You can easily make a friend by singing songs with them, having a silly dance together or whatnot, community was centered around art and that’s why valley which deals with performance arts and the art of sport represents the peak of civilization. And even if you don’t think you’re talented at anything, that doesn’t matter, you’re still creating, or still being someone’s audience.

what if the kids don’t have a real concept of death and everything for them comes from the sun and the rays of light from it. they live in this fantasy world sheilded by the spirits who haven’t yet seen their children grow up and turn into one of them. they cling on to the last bits of light pulling it down to their land, fueling the generations of kids so they don’t have terrible fates and they stay to shield them from krill, who each day get closer to shrouding the world from darkness once more. the elder that came first were sent into this land of darkness since no where else was suitable for them. they had to fight for their right, and the krill, once beautiful, nocturnal night animals with amazing abilities unlike any other. they were shoved down the drain of THEIR own world. They used to have great eyesight, but were blinded by the light and have evolved to use only a light detectable spotlight to once again, rule their own land. golden wasteland is a battefeild were it all happened. the vault of knowledge was built by the founding krill, storing everything from their traditions to how they have been misjudged. the spirits are deceased fighters on the side of the light who died while trying to over power the krill. each night, the mother krill grows strong and her army grows. she will avenge her fallen mother who died protecting her fellow krill. the statues in eden? spirits who have not yet been freed by players. few have tried to befriend the krill but all attempts were unsuccessful, the krill are powered and fueled with rage of light and will eventually raise the moon for good, ruling their land once again.

This could mean that they just changed out the bird mask for a rabbit mask representing their new job, or it could mean that whatever job they DID have was not dancing/music performance related, but something somewhat related. one of my skykid OCs, Naihho, like to play music for the Vault Elder. the Vault Elder asked them to once cos they overheard Naihho practicing on the kalimba, but it wasn't supposed to be a reoccurring thing. Naihho just finds playing music in the Elder's pocket dimension meditative.

during one music session, Vault Elder falls asleep. Naihho can't leave without the Vault Elder's dismissal, so they keep playing, but end up soothing themself to sleep. realizing what's happening, they wake themself up.

when the Vault Elder returns from their nap, they ask Naihho why they don't sleep – it passes the time, is good for the mind, could improve their musical skills. Naihho answers that they've only slept a few times, but since they've only ever had nightmares, they avoid slumber. Vault Elder aches for the child. they beckon Naihho into their lap and asks them to try this one time.

Naihho is hesitant. they crawl in the Elder's lap. Vault Elder strokes Naihho's hair and hums, using purple light on their mind. when Naihho sleeps, they have sweet dreams for the first time ever.

Like what if when a sky kid is nervous you actually see the little bright blue drips?

They used to have great eyesight, but were blinded by the light and have evolved to use only a light detectable spotlight to once again, rule their own land. golden wasteland is a battefeild were it all happened. the vault of knowledge was built by the founding krill, storing everything from their traditions to how they have been misjudged. the spirits are deceased fighters on the side of the light who died while trying to over power the krill. each night, the mother krill grows strong and her army grows. she will avenge her fallen mother who died protecting her fellow krill. the statues in eden? spirits who have not yet been freed by players. few have tried to befriend the krill but all attempts were unsuccessful, the krill are powered and fueled with rage of light and will eventually raise the moon-
