so i headcanon that skykids don't feel pain unless afflicted with darkness. in my main fic, there's this skid, Helkipi, who's the worse – krills other skids, feeds moths to a corrupted skykid, talks about upsetting topics.

at some point, a lot of Helkipi's victims are sick of them and want to punish them in a way that'll surely make them feel it. they could beat them up, but Helkipi caused a lot of them physical pain and their bare fists and kicks won't cut it. so what do they do?

they push Helkipi in the polluted geyser. everytime they try to escape, the other skids punch and kick them back in. the polluted water within drains their light and weakens them enough so that the beating starts to hurt. they cant fly out, skids grab them and throw them back down. at some point, Helkipi stops trying to escape so the skids go in there and start hitting them some more.

by the time the Bellmaster Sanc guide finds out and stops them, Helkipi has lost a considerable amount of winged light. they're crying, sobbing. the skids, satisfied thinking they learned their lesson, leave.

So my idea on how this works [we don’t have a super concrete answer] is that we remind the elders of the king and so they’re more cautious of us/hostile towards us than they normally would be. From the ushering stsrgazer’s memory, we learn that the king, much like us, fell from the sky in isle of dawn and looks very close to how we do. The general consensus [although nowhere near confirmed as we don’t have tons of information] is that the king was the main cause of the apocalypse that killed everyone in the world and turned them into spirits, hence why being associated with them is very much a Bad Thing

Skykids who had a traditional journey and got adopted by the community early on, thus getting named by their friends = random generated in game ones, this naming convention is based off the ancestors’
Skykids who fell outside of isle and had to go through the world on their own, naming themselves = usually noun names or pretty sounds. Naming themselves after birds is very common, as there are lots of similarities between birds and skykids.

Alternatively since it aligns with the headcanon I mentioned earlier about skykids not being able to form any sound more complex than honks, they don’t really have names and have no way to communicate them as a group, but since skykids are very visual thinkers they identify each other more by appearance. The elders and spirits do sometimes give them names though, and these types of names vary by who is giving them. Isle and vault spirits tend to put more effort into giving them names following the ancestor naming conventions, while forest and prairie spirits do not care and will nickname their tiny new friend things like Rock or Bird

I just replayed some of TLP quests on switch and I just realised something: The Prince and the LP spirits speak in like, actual words. Does that theoretically mean skykids can understand other languages? (by other languages I'm referring to how skykids usually speak to each other in honks which is probably a language idk-)

The King was the ruler of the sky kingdom. We actually have no idea if he was evil, but he makes a good scapegoat so theories tend to go in that direction. There was an old idea of fighting the king like a boss battle while in Eden as concept, but he was clearly corrupted by then so that doesn't prove his prior morals. Also he might be a sky kid

I know roasting crabs happened very early on in the game so you will find a few winks by the devs referencing this lol, hence why I don't really consider the presence of roasting crabs in the graveyard as canon in my theories 😅

I don't feel bad about flipping the ones out to hurt me. They had it comin'. But I actually want to play with the friendly island crabs, but to do that I have to flip 'em, and I'd feel bad if they didn't get back up.
I actually scolded some people with pout and the scold emote when they came by and flipped them lol
