When I heard megabird I did think about some of the old concept arts, but the one we see at office reminds me of something I'd see on journey

With each day I see something more and more fascinating, don't regret checking this place, except when it comes to some pieces of the lore,

||I like to imagine that spirits (after death at least) can shape the light making up their projected body to match their preferred expression, especially to match what time of their life they want to be remembered as. Sometimes it doesn’t change much from when they died because they’ll keep it the same so that their friends will recognize them (I imagine this is the case for seasonal spirits), other times they’ll give themselves clothes and masks from a period of their life they see as important (prophets did this). If they perceived gender as a thing that exists, even just for self expression, they may project themselves as more fem/masc than they could have been before death.

I also like the idea of spirits choosing to look like themselves from a certain time so that their friends who died before them would recognize them. I think the tearful light miner would have done this.

It also adds an explanation for how the life stage they’re projected as gets chosen other than “they died at that age”. For example, with this explanation the assembly scouts didn’t have to die as kids, they could have grown up as well but chose to project themselves as kids instead. ||

The oldest looking spirit we have isn't even a spirit per say, it's isle elder, so that makes sense

Well to be fair, valley, forest and wasteland elders still seem to be pretty nimble and strong, so maybe isle elder is just old without the lights power

Valley, Forest, and Wasteland all seem heavily physically fit by nature, and those kinds of people tend to do well even once they get old. Compared to isle, who probably didn't keep up routine and was in 'poor health' as a result

The sad thing is, spirits are pretty ethereal, can't be touched and you can basically walk through them. For the spirit it felt warm to be hugged by skids. The skids? It's like hugging cold empty air

You know, Cannoneer is able to be grabbed when they're clearly passed out (they don't help us swim until we're out of the leviathan's stomach), maybe they're actually touchable by default and it's the intangibility that they toggle. They see our kids running around and go intangible so our kids don't accidentally ram into them (and we would, regularly)

I love the fanarts where the spirits are alive and just... shopping, watching musicians, playing together... TGC did a good job making it look like they really had a life before.

I mean, I had a headcanon that the spirits who show themselves in the real world again were like, the best and most trusting of their race. And while this may not *always^ apply, I think it makes some sense to think that the ones who we see are the spirits that had the biggest hearts.

Going off WWI and WWII, there were marshlands, grasslands, forests that were destroyed.

Some, if not most of the battlefields were so scarred and torn up from digging trenches, setting up murder area and traps, and even from vehicles like cars and tanks, that the land is virtually unrecognisable.

Seeing the wasteland has no trees, nor any form of grass (except in the forgotton ark due to changes made by skkid and spirits). There may still be a possibility that the land could have been teeming with life.
Especially with how much water there it in the area.

What brought this up is studying the old map of the world.
It showed a Desert off the west, while Dusk (Golden Wasteland) was in the East.
While there could be possibly 2 deserts in the world, with the realm being so close to the mountain, the land would have had its fair share of rain, especially seeing how much the forest gets further back. While there is a possibility of the weather can deviate in areas, the idea of Wasteland once teeming with life paints a contrasting picture of what it now looks like.

It's easy enough to say 'Sky is a ruined kingdom' but you don't realize just how ruined until you see Isle of Dawn in the switch trailer. You can't reliably say 'Golden Wasteland used to be a desert' off looks because clearly entire ecosystems changed due to the calamity

Similar to a battelfield. One can say a no man's land is a type of environment in of itself. Seeing it is mostly a wasteland of torn up earth, ditches and deep pools of water, and trees that have long since died due to the abuse with being torn up or used as a fire hazard.
It can take years for a desolate battlefield to recover as nature slowly reclaims it.

Imagine how much a plot of land can change over time. From a battle that literally and figurative scarred the place, to one that has since recovered.

To a child, these trenches may look exciting to explore, but to those who knew about what happened, might sense the eeriness of the place.

I feel like chibi mask might be different for hide n seek pioneer. They're about the size of an ancestor child, but I've seen theories that they're an adult, and the chibi mask is magically de-aging them.
It does the same for us, except our kids are already children, so instead the chibi mask turns us into toddlers.

That may have to do with the fact the spirit used to be taller.
They used to be a default dress spirit (see guru as an example), until an update gave them a child model similar to the skatergirl's, except with different cosmetics (dress, mask and hair).
I believe aside from adjustments made with the new model for the memory, the memory might have changed from what the original spirit memory was like, but the general route of the memory is mostly the same.

The vault elder honestly looks smaller in their solo scene, in the all elder scene and then the Orbit encounter makes the vault elder look as tall as the dawn/ wasteland elder.
I may be wrong, but the difference is noticeable.

Recalling from past trips, the vault elder in their own cutscene looked like it would match the height of 2 chibis standing on top of each other.
Then the biggest would be the wateland elder, with probably 4 or so chibis easily.
I am not taking about a piggyback tower, since the chibis are sitting on each other's shoulders. I am talking about an acrobat tower of one standing on each others shoulders.

So I am very interested in the crabs, ever since about a week or so ago when I found out about Devs talking about the lore behind them. After extensively trying to analyze their walking patterns I still have no clue as to why its significant in regards to how they are "created", and I decided to lay off it for a bit. That is until today. I was doing a cr in wasteland and as i was finishing up in the caves in the forgotten ark i noticed a mural and a detail that escaped me. As you can see, there is a pile of crabs semingly aggressive as all the people and other light creatures are fleeing in terror. BUT underneath this pile of crabs is a rock, that glows as there is a clear ring around it to depict it glowing. I think this is a MAJOR clue about the crabs and why they are mean.
What do you guys think about this???

Thats what i think but there are no remnants in the area. But it makes sense, they turn red when angry...litterally and it cpuld be a side effect maybe its the red rock that causes the corruption. I do suspect 2 areas. This is beacuse both areas are in the open and have crabs nearby. The other reason is the dark water. Perhaps the red rocks cause that as well. Idk.
These are the two areas i know one has a boat but clesrly it wasnt a cargo boat that would be carrying water so it could have crashed after the rock got there, or simply been abandoned.

I just checked... there is no rock under the water. That is definitely the next question. I know in eden red rock is found in water...so it is not the water that dissolves it. I doubt its sun...there are no many clouds there and there is no way of knowing if the clouds were always there or not.

Maybe its something that can only be absorbed and it was absorbed by crabs??? I mean the mural clearly shows them on top of it.

I don't think so, if devs didn't want crabs to harrass players in this area they wouldn't put them here at all. This is clearly a way to show us that without corruption of Darkness, they're harmless and even scared of us a little.

The area is known to have crabs, and krill.

While the krill can keep their distance (as if they dont with the meditation shrine 😐 ), the crabs can be pacified for whatever reason to justify having them enjoy the fire with the skykids.
Essentially, TGC gave the crabs the talk about sharing the fire, since the skykids would now have a reason to stay there for longer.

My suggestion to this is that crabs ARE the rock seen in the drawing. All crabs look kinda like they've been chopped off of something. (See my picture above this reply.) So my take is that the miners were mining for some precious resources, found a cool rock, tried to chop it into smaller pieces, but instead some another aspect played a role here (power? magic? emotions that infused the rock? the rock was already magic? idk) and the rock bursted into crabs.

I think the “Crabs are just rocks” theory is one that makes a lot of sense. Remember, we see Crabs living both on land and underwater. Presumably, this means they don’t breathe like normal creatures. And if they were just living rocks…then it would make sense why they don’t really need to breathe.

Well im looking into crabs and i was replyin to a comment that posted a screenshot of Ash mention sky lore in seasons of enchantment and sanctuary that wasn't there in seasons like graditude and rhythm. And since there are crabs in both locations with enchantment having murals of crabs I assume sanctuary must have more information on crabs as well. Like you said sanctuary has good crabs unlike....everywhere else.

The sunshine doesn't cure them of their darkness completely, I don't think it would be that easy, but it more...calms them down. Makes them docile. Reduces the influence of the darkness. They're still corrupted, but no longer feel a need to steal light thanks to the light of the sun. More like semi corrupted.

Hmmmm interesting....those swirls have a weird meanong in sky and i just can't grasp what it is. The smoke monsters in prophecy have a swirl, the elder of dawn's magic stick emites the same swirl design when he directs the birds. When we level up we have swirls surrounding us and when e we are surrounded by birds/fish/butterflies they swirl around us and so much more. Even the mantas in vault fly in that pattern., even the meditate emote gives us swirls. Why a swirl??

Who knows, at one point I suspected the Elder of dawn to be the king. Due to the swirl on his staff and could actively direct creatures of light....specifically birds. Who happen to steal bells in season of flight for no reason. And birds are the only light creature we see in every realm actually going towards eden with a conpletly unknown purpose but woth a purpose none the less. Also, the fact his mask was the only one broken and there was a war against something/someone and how his realm is nothing but sand when it use to be lush feilds of grass and meadows. But then I figured I was just being crazy. I trashed the idea.
Edit: also his face is the only face missing from the door to eden which is still very suspicious to me.

Crops and fields might be something that ancestors started doing after the ship crashed, to sustain themselves on the barren land
They might've been left without any help for their broken ship as others already fled. It's called a "Forgotten" Ark, after all, so others must've somehow forgotten or not realize someone needed help. And so the ancestors made effort to grow something so that they can survive within the wreckage as long as possible.

I was thinking about that krill the other day. You know when we meditate in forest temple, after the cutscene mantas are released from the cages like gates from the two sides.

What if….the forest temple and the WL one krill area were power extraction facilities for power stones like Abyss manta cage facility.

Maybe ……during the extraction process, lots pollutants were generated, which were processed in golden big round turning thing on forest temple roof, or stored in the golden diamond shaped pots and transported to somewhere else, like those we saw around wl sinked ship.

My other theory for the king is that sky kid we see in the follow me emotes memories. He is the only one seen in memories and if the king took care of 'the young one' maybe thats who it was. I also think he was the golden dude predicted in the prophecy caves mostly because use the drawings match the two spirits who found him.
And we see point emote with 2 other spirits which account for the other 3 figures shown.
Edit: if the elder of dawn was loyal to this kid it makes sense that they first appeared in his realm.

some neat implications of this idea

• elders and some spirits would probably recognize us to some extent. this explains some of their behavior (looking at you forest elder)
• constantly having skykids be petrified in Eden and need to be saved implies that, until Eden is either entirely fixed or we figure out how to Not die, all the fragments of the king can never be alive at once… maybe this is on purpose
• was king split apart by Megabird or darkness corruption
• this may be why skykids are so focused on community and friendship as a group, to become closer to who they were before splitting

Vault of Knlwledge isn't tall enough for the tip to disappear from our sight when we see the whole structure from the outside (still being in GW). so GW must be somehow high enough for this building to make sense and let the tip reach ruins in Eden stage

Perhaps the first sky kid was the king. And seeing how we get covered in stone when we die in eden maybe the king/first sky kid was also getting corrupted but at a slower rate. They wanted to avoid death so they transferred that negative energy towards the light creatures like the crabs and krill which eventually turned them dark. They could have used those columns in abyss to transfer the darkness. You know where we freed those manta's. Then the elders tried to contain these dark creatures in those golden containers but they escaped and attacked due to the overwhelming corruption. Then that cause a war as the spirits tried to destory these dark creatures they created but by then it was too late because there was too many of them and they died one by one. Now all thats left is the corruption and the memories as we try to fix the mistakes of the past.

And since we know its implied that there used to be more cloud every where, but its receded since then, that giant mound was definitely higher, and blocking the sun's light from entering isle.

Skykids carry a light within their bodies. The chest light would go out if the skykid is out of light (but still has winged light), and as they recharge, the light comes back on.
The chest light is the light of the candle as when the candle is out, the chest light is gone.

That and skykids have glowing eyes that can blink. Animal masks are an exception however, as the eyes on animal masks might not line up with the skykid's.

Okay bare with me here im about to propose a crazy theory. I was looking at the Nintendo trailer and looking at the Isle of dawn, the before and after. I notice something....there is missing land.

So i was trying to figure out where it went when it occured to me...a crazy idea. In the season of prophecy each relam is given an element. Fire-wasteland; Air-Valley; Earth- Praire and Water-Forest.

Nothing is given to The isle of dawn despite the caves litterally being in the isle of dawn. Then I thought about how someone mentioned the Anubis Mask looking like the prophecy caves. But I disagree. I think it looks more like the entrance to praire

I was also thinking, why give earth to praire, it is mostly a bunch of floating islands. But in the trial we have to jump across a bunch of floating rocks. So in comparing the image from the trailer to some Islands in Praire....what if the Isle of Dawn and the Daylight praire use exist in the be the same realm but after the destruction the seperated. What if Praire recieved earth to connect to the grougd but without the element the islands float in the air.

Sorry here is a better picture. The hills on the left look very similar to the hills that use to be in Isle.

so if u dont mind me asking, isnt eden the afterlife for us? i dont think we're necessarily dead since its mentioned that we are "reborn" after eden.. i can see the comparison that we are like angels that help guide others tho! thats actually a neat idea!

Ok, I have my darkness theory ready, be warned, it’s long

Here is my theory on the origin of the “Darkness”.

Simply put, the Elders, or whoever else it was that sent us, they LIED to us. That it NOT darkness, it’s corrupted Light. Hear me out. If it were darkness it would be like the Trail of Fire, instead it’s Fungi, Krill, Crystals, Crabs, tainted water, and the red rains. It all stems from the giant crystal at the heart of Eden. We know light was a power source and life source for the Sky people, we also know that (thanks to the season of the Little Prince) stars can fall. I propose that the giant crystal in Eden is a giant fallen star. The Elders wanted to harness its power and trapped it in what we know as Eden. Eden became a reactor of sorts, which explains the pipes we see in the Wasteland and in Eden, as well as all the metal scraps. Either Eden was a mountain in the Valley transformed into a reactor, OR the mountainous look is the best way to contain the star and fit in with the surroundings.

The star being sapped of power and used for the greed of the elders became corrupted, and a meltdown occurred, like Chernobyl. The star’s anger, aka corrupted light, was throw across the realms. since chat mentioned prophecy earlier, i was thinking abt TGC official promotion illustration for prophecy.

They made a few versions of it, but prophecy guide was very short like a child in those illustration.

Not sure if it is intentional or is it just because the illustration was done early, and some how they didnt have time to fix it

An artist depicted that the Krill are the zombified skeletons of the Light Whales we see, now this isn’t canon, but it makes the most sense imo so let’s go with that. The Krill being corrupted by the angered Star attack the realms of Sky, thus leading to the battle of Eden (aka the Wasteland) we see roughly 12 or more Krill around so it can be assumed that the people of Sky lost. We know the elders were real and took part in the battle thanks to a giant spear near the entrance of the temple in the wasteland, exactly like the WL Elder uses.

After the devastation, a few people who’d ascended fell, but it was too dangerous for others to go, so they sent us. We’re there to help clean up and help others get back to the stars after the Elders got greedy and used a fallen star instead of putting it back up.

I like this theory.
Following star logic (roughly, physics in Sky is not an exact science), a star can go supernova and become either a neutron star or a black hole.

Seeing that the top of the Eden mountain has a halo effect (sundog being a more accurate name for it), we also see this effect with the winged light, that were once called stars in the past.
While there is little concrete evidence to what winged light is, one can say they could be made of stardust, seeing there are tiny stars in the place of the winged light after it is claimed.

If your theory were to be confirmed, it can open up a new chapter on what eden was like and give more info on what happened.
A giant crystal like that being unstable is dangerous. Perhaps if time were to be in a loop, it would be a good thing seeing had time were to go on, the crystal may have imploded and taken the sky world with it.

If I may introduce an observation to the theory, there was a mention about the colours of sky playing an important role. It helps us associate things to one of three major aspects of the game. Yellow/White being the The Light (purity, megabird, being connected), orange/red being corrupted light (red rocks, red Eden Crystals, the krill's red light), and Blue being the Ancestors/spirits.
That said, your statement of red being a corrupted version of light has some evidence to support it. 👍
