Also I just did the most recent quest and am low-key looking for the Big Bad Baby Boi but I can't find him so my instinct is to go way way way down in that trench

it's an absolute stretch away from the visual affirmation that they (ancestors and creatures) are beings of light (which they are) but apparently it's popular to believe in that theory

I added the rebreather part not because I wanted to use that 100% as evidence (said that it was easily refuted in original post) but just because I felt like it was worth mentioning. It’s one of my points, like the water one, that I wouldn’t rely on but can help back up other pieces of evidence if needed!

I know it’s a really annoying way to disprove it but considering our current ideas on how darkstone batteries work it is Worth considering]

Oh my god I cannot believe it took me this long to remember this but, remember how I kept mentioning how ancestors might have mild telepathic powers after a convo with lapis and the darkstone helps amplify that and lets them hover boats?? One of the later additions was that we used our similar (but naturally stronger) ability to create a small force field around the holes in our body to keep the water out and the breath meter is just that forcefield fading.

What if that’s how ancestors used the darkstone in the rebreather to make pockets of air bubbles around themselves? Boom, annoying but entirely possible explanation for ancestors using light rebreathers to survive underwater

Nobody has responded to you yet so quick explanation. Darkstone refers to those bluish White crystals you light with your candle to start various mechanisms. Their uncut form is those massive blue chunks underwater in treasure reef. It’s also the material making up the giant diamond in Eden, which is theorized to be the direct cause of the disaster that killed everyone. Also charging/refining it is implied to require light creatures in a harmful way. Hope this helps!

They’re both still made out of light but the latter is further along the evolutionary scale.

quick explanation on the general consensus for G2. Throughout the prophecy murals you can see a glowing figure that looks vaguely like us without the winged light symbol superimposed on top, completing the trials. The logic most people use is that it’s the King (I will let someone else explain who this is as I currently don’t have the energy and it’s a Lot) and G2 is them ascending to / being in power after completing the trials. Hence why they look kind of like us but without the WL

The King was the monarch of the Sky kingdom before it’s fall. He was most likely the first Sky kid who arrived when spirits were y’know alive. That kid in Ushering Stargazer’s memory was probably him, also the figure in the prophecy murals which depict his journey (and the first one to finish the trials). He was involved with dark stone and diamonds (the thing you light to open doors). The King may or may have not been responsible for the downfall of the Sky kingdom. Also there’s another person called the Prince (it’s unclear if this is the King) whose name was Alef.

Actually confirmed by two different devs here that they still exist and are canon (left to interpretation tho). As well as "Prince" presumed to be the same person but not confirmed

Its hinted that it was a prophecy in the past, as the Proohecy actually depicts the very the beginning of the Kingdom. The Season itself was described to be the "Origin Story" of the Ancestors, implying the "Prophecy" was already fulfilled in the long past, the very thing that gave birth to the Kingdom of Sky.

Most common theory here is that its actually the "Prince/King", with the child from Stargazer Spirit's memories actually being that said child of the Prophecy.

because the king is placed so oddly on the timeline its impossible to know if the king marks the beginning of the kingdom or the beginning of the darkstone era like tom zhao's version technically states

I wonder if the season and the realms they are based in are part if where they fit into the timeline of the lore.

For instance, dawn is the oldest and yet most barren realm. This may imply that the history is a mystery for skykids to investigate. That is if they are willing to delve deep into the unknown (similar to how the cave of prophecy is set in the clouds).

While Vault is either the latest realm, or the realm that it represents other realms. Hence why the little prince's area was based there instead of say Dawn or the Wasteland's desert like regions. Vault is known to be dream like, and perhaps the reason why that realm allowed the devs to include a collaboration in the game.

The problem though lies in seasons that did not base in one area. Such as Seasons of Gratitude, Lightseekers, Belonging and Rhythm. Where each spirit was based in every realm, their season may be either generalised to the series of events instead of one particular event in the timeline.

Or even a combination of the above concepts.

A prophecy must be something about the future. But one made in the past, could in theory, be about the present then.
Or perhaps one that already came true.

Following Jam's word assessment, an origin can be where something begins. A backstory can be about someone or a place, or even both.

The chosen one (whoever they are) creates a giant beam of light atop eden.
All the realms praise the chosen one, who grants blessings to the realms, to fortify the kingdom's defenses from corruption and disarray, to make the cities rise high above the mountains in elevation of their glory, to bring perpetual rainfall to the forests so that the springs will never run dry, and to the open areas of the world where creatures roam, so life will never grow quiet.

The chosen one, is shown to be on a journey. Where they met ancestors and and elders along the way. Similar to other murals, the elders are shown with the ancestors. Which means it had to be a long time ago seeing how distant the elders are in the present.

The chosen one is always shown to be glowing golden light, similar to the winged light, that were once called stars when the season alwas active. The season may have taken place when Eden was established as the chosen one was seen creating a beacon in the sky (As Jam stated), then the chosen one acting as a beacon themselves when Eden was built.

I may digress from Jam a bit with believeing that the skykids are not meant to raise the dead, but save the spirits. By bringing them back to the temples and helping them ascend, we are allowing the cycle of life to complete.

We dont know what may happen next, but until then, it is seeking out spirits and waiting for new seasons to reveal more spirits to save. All while the spirits are aware of the skykids, as they are willing to help them in return.

If the chosen one would become the king, whyvis the king's mural not golden and without a constellation?

Here let me show and explain:
Here is the last mural in the all elders cutscene that depicts the realms. The other elders have a constellation within their bodies, while the eden elder does not.

While the reason is not clear, what is that the king has been associated with darkness in the game (the present). His realm is chaotic and covered in darkness. And His presence later on in the game becomes more intimidating.

For a king to rule over a kingdom of light, he seems to be like a blackhole that is was once a bright star.

This theory still has some loose threads, though what I have is this.
The winged light were once called stars. Stars that have fallen. Falling stars can symbolise a new soul or a sould falling from the heavens.
In Greek Mythology, a deity or person of great importance would have their place aming the stars. How Greek Mythology applies to the game is how it draws inspiration from ancient civilisations,which may include mythology based on the leviathan, the spiritual megabird, the importance of a candle's light and the magical presence in the realms from boats, structures and the ancestors.

If the elders are like stars, the perhaps the Prince or the King was a star that glowed brightest, but eventually burned out and became either a metaphorical or a literal black hole. On that the other elders wanted to seal away, but in doing so, doomed themselves breaking the cycle of life.

My understanding, based on all the concept arts released, what devs have said, and what's in game is that:

The Golden Wasteland was a vast desert / dunes at the base of the Eden mountain. Therefore the "golden" part, and how it is a wasteland.

Some time in the ancient past, the ancestors abandoned some of their settlements and relocated into the desert, building a fortress city - a citadel - where it appears all elders dwelled in. This relocation is hinted to have been done due to a war. All evidences imo indicate it was a war against beings with no light (which can't operate crystal machinery), so likely krill and other dark creatures.

The Vault of Knowledge was built in this city later. In which the Vault Elder seems to have had a more central position in governing the realms.

Some time later, the King descended into the world, the architectural influence of the King can be mostly seen around the Wasteland, because those were the places more heavily inhabited by the ancestors, due to the relocation.

After the Storm took place, due to events in Eden, the Golden Wasteland was covered by clouds, forever turning the place in a dark moody landscape. Due to proximity to Eden, most of their buildings and people were destroyed.

Years later, the Wasteland became a home for Scavengers, a group of people resembling a mixture of Pirates and Vikings. They explore and adventure into the ancient ruins, uncovering lost treasures, and avoiding Dragons.

Idea… maybe the leaves were made of light in some way? Maybe leaves could power about the same amount as butterflies could? Maybe the real core of light was in the heart of the tree, as depicted on the temple’s door, but the leaves could be harvested as uh… little snacks??? Maybe that’s what the gardening/farming in GW was about; little yummy light leaf snacks??
This is all a ton of wild speculation but eh, might be worth thinking about

OH YES I CAN EXPLAIN THAT-
ok so basically the hebrew alphabet really only consists of consonants; only little-kid books are written with the vowels (which are marked as little symbols placed underneath or occasionally on top of the letters), while everything else (street signs, newspapers, novels, etc) is written without the vowels and you figure out what it says by context (think of your first language; you could definitely read sentences w/o vowels in it bc you're familiar with the patterns of the words)

when a vowel is written onto a consonant, the vowel sound comes AFTER the consonant (HA would be ה with an "ah" vowel under it), but what if a syllable STARTS with a vowel (if the sound was just "AH")? in that case, we need one of two silent letters: א (aleph) or ע (ayin). by themselves, they make no sound, but with a vowel placed on them, they make whatever sound the vowel indicates.

oh hey, I sketched out a first draft of an evolution diagram for sky creatures last night. it’s not the cleanest and when I have the spoons to I plan to make it digital but I wanted to get some feedback first and see what everybody else thinks. I didn’t include dark creatures yet because I was too tired to go into it and I will admit to having based some of it off on some interesting concept art. If my handwriting is hard to read just lmk and I’ll say what it says!

the concept art I primarily looked at was this one showing off a variety of fish and manta combos, also the idea of spirit mantas maybe being real creatures related to jellyfish, which I thought was really cool

I find myself gradually entertaining the theory that the default manta creature shape is just favored evolutionarily above all else

Primarily the similarities between birds and mantas. There are lots of similarities between them, and (again, knowing that it isn’t the gospel) there’s concept art depicting them beside birds and them having the same basic silhouette. It’s been a while since I had a bio class so my terminology might not be correct, but I wonder if some birds went through convergent evolution alongside the ones that started as fish in the seas, or perhaps the manta and bird species intermingled to create certain variations of manta more adapted to the air.

How it works out in my brain is basically that all light creatures are kind of like putty (not physically I mean) and can adapt to their environments very rapidly. Taking into consideration what was discussed in the latest Q&A had me rethinking the evolutionary steps as I was going to originally assume that it went butterfly —> bird —> manta, but with the knowledge that they in fact came from the sea I thought instead to link them to fish, which provides a branching off point for the coelacanth/whale. I think that first and foremost Light-based creatures are shaped from their environments, but it’s clear that what we consider to be apart of the “manta family” are the most present in nature.

I think that this might be the case yeah! Of course there doesn’t have to be any scientific validation behind fantasy creatures, but it’s clear a lot of care went into the creature designs in this game and I find it fun to try and see where they all connect

I think it could be reasonable that mantas evolved at the same time from different sources as well. The memey thing in my head is the one about how evolution in the real world always attempts to evolve crabs out of non-crab creatures aka carcinization. It occurs when seperate evolutionary lines evolve independently of eachother into the same crab morphology over time. The same might be true for mantas in the Sky universe, like how Baud said their forms are really adept to navigate both air and sea travel. And if we put any belief in the concept art describing the connections between Light blooms, jellyfish, and spirit mantas, that might be another example of the manta morphology evolving on its own.

Or, maybe the first true mantas evolved in the sea, some made the transition to air, mingled with birds and produced more mantas. Obviously there’s no clear method of reproduction we can determine but it could be as simple as Light creatures just evolve as their Light energy mingles together.

I was thinking of quests yesterday and got to wondering about seasonal spirits and quests.
Now, stay with me, lets assume they did the quests so they could get fancier items.
Given how many friendship based quests are there, and most of the spirits have seperate locations and rarely interact (i think, not sure).
So, what if they were not quests/missions they did but rather, some of their last wishes?

Ah, yes, Last Wish Theory my beloved

The basic gist of it is that the purpose of the seasonal quests is to fulfill the spirits' last wishes, to fulfill something they weren't able to achieve during their life. The idea is that by helping them fulfill it, they will be able to ascend without regret, thus bringing our mission closer to completion.

The theory was created based on the idea of "unfinished business" (aka the reason why stereotypical ghosts exist and wander the Earth) but also the "You have fulfilled a wish of this ancestor" message in-game.

Overtime some have interpreted that the wish may be only the GUIDE'S wish, not the general wish of all the season's spirits.

Speculated season wishes (some are more speculative than others thus the "???" at the end of some):
Gratitude: We don't know
Lightseekers: For the light not to fade (???)
Belonging: To gather up the family for their reunion
Rhythm: To reunite the troupe together (???)
Enchantment: To recover the lost lights and/or restore the ark
Sanctuary: To find the bells needed to repair the tower
Prophecy: To restore the cave's murals (???)
Dreams: To remember the village's namesake (it's easy to assume that the wish is for skater girl's dream to be fulfilled, but at the end it says "You witnessed the dream come true" instead of "help the dream come true" which means we're witnessing events that already happened. So instead, we're helping Dreams Guide remember what happened. (???)
Assembly: To (re)build the treehouse.
TLP: Debatable canon, also we didn't ascend the spirits so we didn't fulfill any wishes here anyways
Flight: To restore the wind paths
Abyss: To find the resources (motives unknown as of now)

I feel like the theme of the game is letting go of the past to make room for the future, so perhaps these quests are like a mari kondo way of thanking characters, beloved places or things before letting go of them.

We rebuild a treehouse and old paths the scouts and flight crew entrust us with as they ascend, the belonging and rythm spirits assemble one last time before leaving for the stars, the Dreams skater is remembered and becomes a fond memory...

Oh, so I was doing a quest in Forgotten Ark for dailies, and I got some very convincing evidence for Ancestor spell usage. Top notch stuff.

Really starting to solidify blessing theory in my brain.

skykids are their own walking nuclear sun generators, but ancestors likely can't deepcall or produce light for each other like skids can, so for magical defenses, powers, and utilities, ancestors likely had to largely rely on spells
(so yes in thats sense skids are [metaphorically] walking spells)
skykids make spells by collecting waxlight and reshaping it into a forged spell or potion, and i imagine ancestors did the same with the forms of light we see them collect:

birdlight, mantalight, butterflies, fireflies (what im calling the light used in the cinematic trailer spell), fallen light (lightseekers), and, depending on how canon the enchantment missions are, elemental lights, which seem to be conscious beings of light and roam on their own despite being just simple orbs

when i say manta and birdlight i refer to the lightcatcher memory and the green light: birds and mantas seem to 'shed' orbs Light, and ancestors can collect these sheddings

in general, spells are only transmutations of forms of Light found throughout the world, made from anything from my list above, or from waxlight (RC and/or AC)

just like with the questions for the Absorb to Eat theories, one could ask: "could the ancestors extract the stored light inside power diamond batteries to be used for crafting spells?"

if the light inside power diamonds truly becomes corrupted, like a battery eating up it's acid and corroding on itself, then it probably isnt healthy/good to consume/transmute the light inside the diamonds

I think that would depend on whether or not the ancestors becoming spirits and staying in the realms was a normal thing, or if it’s something that wasn’t supposed to happen

if i'm getting what you mean (based on a lot of theory and conjecture),
it seems unlikely that all the spirits lived at the same time. the spirits memories – especially base game spirits but also from season to season – vary a lot in technology and even the terrain they wandered, evidence that they existed at various points in the kingdom's timeline.

perhaps whenever an ancestor died, they're supposed to journey to the Elder temples or Eden in order to ascend, continuing the light cycle to be reborn. yet as spirits, they face a risk of being petrified and lost to darkness. darkness may have always existed in the Sky world. however, during the latter end of the kingdom's reign, power diamond manufacturing producing a lot of darkness pollution increased the risk of spirits petrifying. this is why we see more spirits of ancestors who appeared to have lived in the latter end if the kingdom's reign and not nearer to the beginning or pre-kingdom. with the Eden calamity and whatever happened to the Elders that took them out of commission, ascending became impossible and every ancestor who died post-Storm would ultimately petrify as spirits.

it's also liable that with the increasing usage and reliance of darkstone tech, the ancestors (and Elders) turned away from Megabird/the Light/fire, becoming wordly. perhaps spirits mingled among living ancestors because they started viewing ascending and the cycle as optional or even didn't want to be reborn. they liked the kingdom, why leave it? Eden, a holy site, became less sacred as a journey's end and turned to an urban center and power diamond production facility (see: all the pipes and dark water), creating the conditions for the Eden calamity in the first place.

I think the manta that gave us the dive ability was the only manta that survived out of the tubes while the storm happened, it was probably trying to get help like the Flight guide

Hmm I had my own thoughts on that too:

no one really sure what the manta is. some of us have been calling it the Upgrade Manta. some think it was sent by Megabird Themself.

I think it's an entity representing the collective mass of the creatures in Treasure Reef. when skykids meditate, they may be tuning into the world, so in turn the marine creatures – including the then-trapped mantas – respond in kind by giving the skykids the ability to dive.

i like to think that skykids being used to flying means they may not have the habit of swimming, like people who were never taught how to swim
the manta may be imparting its aquatic instincts onto sky kids so they can be a bit more comfortable swimming

Only things I immediately noticed about the upgrade manta is the way it dissolved(?) and the light that bursts out of it. It looks almost like a mix of after you relive a spirit memory and they dissolve and their soul flies off to the nearest temple + when you collect winged light (since the light flows into you instead of just disintegrating into the air)

I’m going to Guess that this is a manta spirit. Keep in mind that it’s one solid color (important because spirits & spirit memories don’t preserve color very well) And that we only currently have references for what much darker colored spirits look like (since ancestor spirits have dark skin). It looks kind of similar to their white hair although it’s hard to tell. Maybe this is an altered version of how we learn emotes from spirits??

So, people can float because we can maintain neutral buoyancy in water. Fish do this as well with the help of a swim bladder, which adds and removes gas to make the fish float higher or sink lower.

This is part of the reason why concrete boats can float. They have air pockets that, if the construction is volumetric enough to displace water evenly, to be buoyant.

It’s difficult to say for Skykids, but generally clay is pretty buoyant and doesn’t sink.

An adjustable sack of rocks could fix that, however.

Psst late again, but my theory here is that there are many reasons for this. The first is what you mentioned, that some people are just richer. [Belonging, maybe dreams]

The second is that the season takes place a while after the base game spirit memories so the culture had more time to develop. This works well for enchantment, which I headcanon [based on a few things] came from isle post desertification. Their clothes also seem somewhat similar to several base game spirits — if I remember correctly there were no new pants in enchantment.

Third is that the type of clothes in a season are specific to the group shown, whether it’s a rank/ceremony thing [prophecy] not really influenced by outside culture and just chosen for function [assembly] or the spirits make their own clothes and can go wild [flight headcanon]

Abyss is a bit weird because it can apply to any of these categories. The first is if we assume all the base game spirits left in wasteland are lower class. [We can get really dark with this theory in terms of classism if we want to, whether they were chosen to scout wasteland post disaster because they were seen as disposable OR because it paid well and they were desperate for the money]. Our shells are probably reinforced with magic to some degree which would explain the increased strength.

@rustic heron tenacity refers to the toughness or resistance a mineral has against breaking or being deformed. a crystal the cleaves when you touch it has very little tenacity. a stone that doesn't even chip when you whack it with a hammer has a lot of tenacity.

yes, it's very likely that whatever material skykids' bodies/shells are made out of have been strengthened by magic, giving it properties that allows it to be flexible but also very tenacious. as you mentioned, they can withstand crashing into solid objects at high speeds and recover without much of a fuss. granted, we don't know what that material is but it could be anything from charcoal, ash, hardened clay, stone, or even meteorite. given the fragility of the first three, if it is one of them, then that magic is incredibly powerful and effective at maintaining skykids' shape.

however, what can work against a mineral's tenacity is its structure.

@keen shore @rustic heron some things are hard or tenacious enough to withstand being crushed. fleshy, squishy, living things? nope. solid rock? depends on the integrity of the mineral, but it's not uncommon for flat, solid rock to maintain its shape even when crushed. of course that depends on a few factors such as the force of the falling object, the object's weight, and the position of the material being crushed. they could also get scratched up or chipped if they don't get crushed.

if skykids' shells are hollow, then their structure is working against the tenacity of the magic-induced material. hollow structures don't have a lot of integrity and rely on the material's composition to maintain its shape against force. we can assume that the material skykids are made out of is very tenacious, especially if they have light, but we don't know it's upper limit.

so it's possible skykids could withstand being crushed by some things. they could chip first or completely shatter. a king turret is massive so I would be surprised if they survived that. but the thing is, we don't know what the upper limit of skykids' bodies are and with magic involved, it could be anything. as long as they have light.

The last ancestor was no one. Just a small child whose parents had long since passed. Alone in an empty Kingdom, they had nothing but their imaginations and ancient tales of a King.

One day, they found themselves frightened and alone within Vault, scared of the Krills outside and too afraid to wander the dark, empty halls. They sniffled and whimpered until a calming voice called to them. They followed it, slowly being soothed by the voice, until they were brought to a small crown. Perhaps out of pity for the last child of an ancient race, the voice lied to them, saying they were a King.

The last Ancestor, with the bravery of false regality, braved the realms as only a child can. They marched all through the world, their Kingdom as infinite as their imagination.

They had tea with the Prairie statue, made trinkets and baubles with the Gorest statue, and even fought massive armies of imagined evildoers with the GW statue as their faithful commander.

But even the small King grew tired, and found them self alone again. They followed a different voice that time, a small and somber one, telling them it was time to go to sleep.

And so they wandered into Eden for a nap, nestled in the cradle of the Eye. Before they closed their eyes, they looked to the sky and said “I wish I was brave enough to go up there”.

And their wish became reality, for as they fell asleep, they woke up again, on a small isle far, far away. They didn’t remember how they got their, but they knew one thing; they had to get up to the stars.

I really like the idea of us being sent down into the realm that you mentioned, the only thing confusing me is how this constellation is specifically where your friends go. If it was meant for all of Eden/home you’d think you’d see it in more places, right? Like lingering above eden’s door or in orbit? But this and the vault elder cutscene is the only place we find it - not to mention there are no other ancestors once the crown image forms besides the king, suggesting that the constellation represents specifically them and not the entire realm if that makes sense

Oh I think I Sort of get that! I think of it more like a seasonal constellation, which seem to represent the spirits in them more than the area they’re from, meaning that crown represents all your friends together and suspiciously aligns with a symbol of the king. But if it had to represent a location it would represent Eden.

I have one more confusing thing to mention though and that’s the circle symbol with all the lines branching out from it that you see on the massive door leading into the storm. Considering that home is where you leave to go to the realms, it seems like it would represent that more? And combined with your theory about being sent down directly from orbit it would also in turn represent orbit more

okay so knowing all of that, what would happen if a skykid were crushed or, at least, faced circumstances where they were under forces that could crush them?

not much to work with. we haven't faced any circumstances where skykids could get crushed. it literally doesn't happen in game. so any speculation is just gonna be that – speculation.

we know that the only circumstances skykids die in is when they are depleted of light and are overwhelmed by darkness. crushing is a break in their structural integrity. would that kill them or could they recover from that? worth noting that rocks in Eden, krill, and corrupted darkstone do hit them at a force that could imply breaking, but they recover from that too and still appear whole. perhaps they do break, but because of the light within them, they can heal and become whole. maybe the material they're made out of isn't as tenacious as it seems and they can break under enough force, especially if that force is paired with darkness, but with light whatever cracks and cleaving they get heals fast enough for it to not be apparent enough to us (or for devs not to bother coding).

crushing then could be the same – a skykid's body is completely shattered but reforms because they still have light. they may lose light momentarily whether afflicted by darkness or not because of the shock of it all, but they still have enough light for their magic to recover and reassemble their bodies.

the only thing I can presume that could prevent their bodies from reassembling would be if the object that crushed them is still on top of them, preventing their body from reforming due to the lack of space. now what would happen if a skykid were without their physical shell? literally no idea.

it used to be based off this crossed out thing but i argued with myself to debunk that evidence

we can call our friends to us in the constellation, and they descend from the sky.
When players are canonically logged off, (i assert that) they're technically in Orbit, in the Light

when we warp to any realm via the portals, im imagining it that, from Home (which in reality is us floating above the world as light) we crash down to any respective realm again

i had evidence for this (mostly anecdotal to lapis' delight) but for now it's just my own headcanon

The former shell shatters as the magic can no longer sustain its structural integrity and it acts like normal, fragile clay. The intense heat of the light contained within radiates outwards and our soul star heads towards the nearest temple or even straight upwards to return to Eden and reform

there's quite a few theories about what skykids may have used to be. one is that they're ancestors reborn. another is that they're fragments of the king reborn. personally I think skykids are their own thing – they didn't use to be anyone, they are themselves.

being fragments or incarnations of other beings in sky could explain why they are able to re-experience memories. Since they were once a part of it.

i love the idea that we just manifest, it also could be that we kinda just float to our destination, through corridors and all, just like ancestors evaporating towards the nearest temple. So in vault's case that'd imply they float in through the Wasteland Temple and appear on the other side of Vault's door

to me falling from the sky into home isn't canon, because, at least as moths, we used to fall into isle, not into home
||that's albeitly a bratty and bias way of disregarding it tho, im frankly just mad at TGC for changing it||

from a face value i believe in this too

however, i also believe that when Light enters the megabird again, it can leave it as a completely different form, it's still the same being of Light

so i think the Light that makes up ancestors could reform into light creatures, but for Skykids, maybe we can just headcanon they're made of a special, holier kind of Light that is purer and hasn't left the megabird for eons

yep definitely, I've stated before in my anatomy dog that sky kids and ancestors, even if they both are (theoretically) clayshell, internally sky kids are anatomically stronger because they have a greater connection to the mega bird, and therefore a much stronger light

Just a (probably not well thought trough) idea: What if ancestors were "weaker" because they never survived the first fall of the stars? They ended up becoming spirits in the sky kingdom and slowly lost their connection to the cycle.
