Thanks everyone. So, 6 lights total, with 4 present in the murals.
There is also the unofficial 7th in the Isle, which is Yellow, potentially meaning Light.
So the missing ones in the mural are Mind and Void. (understandable)
Blue light is found in valley by the ice, which is solidified water. The green light mural depicts what's beneath the island that the green light sits on. I don't remember anything about the cyan light unfortunately. The only place with burnt trees is by the orange light, which is before the forest temple.
Yeah, the two that aren’t present are Red Light (void) and Purple Light (mind)
Cyan light is located between Isle and Prairie, where there's nothing but clouds.
They need to make it a daily quest.
They won't, since its related to Isle, and Isle has 0 quests.
but the Lights are multiple
there are doubles and copies, etc
Daily Quest has the same lights, but in different locations too
Sorry, but these kind of seem like a stretch… where’s the island the blue light sits on? Why doesn’t the green light mural show the floating islands it’s actually on? And those are the clouds and/or tree leaves - most likely not smoke. You can look up and see the clouds in forest
I am just going to drop this here to help with mural referencing (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1-yA8OdJ2NzwNc8c15sQB3UALYn3psT3c6mWgIV64jFM)
like how there are 2 red lights in GW: (1) in the Forgotten Ark and (2) in Shipwreck in Vanilla
and 2 purple lights in the Vault: (1) first elevator floor and (2) in archives
Then why do the forest trees have leaves in this mural. AND DONT YOU SAY THEY ARENT LEAVES!!!!
you sure that's not rain
…The blue stuff is rain, and the thing with lines running through it is the river that runs through the entirety of hidden forest
it's a different shade from the river
Can you explain? I’m not really sure what this means
Wait a second. So we've had an entire season with 4 of the lights. Does that mean we're going to get a season with the other 3?
It would make sense, since Isle's seasons are all Lore based (all one of them), and there's 3 lights left.
It's a different color from the default blue used on the river and most of the other stuff in the mural
Oh, sorry. I just realized what you meant. They’re BOTH blue but the rain is the bluest
Yep
same realms as enchantment, but they offer multiple options
WAIT. I just experienced a flash of brilliance.
So, you know the quest about finding the light at the end of the rainbow? What if it's symbolically important? Each of the lights represents a part of a being: The 4 elements compose the body (at least in many ancient mythologies), and the mind and void represent man and the time before time, respectively.
The light represents divinity, or spirituality. So, what does this mean?
Combine the 4 elements to get the body.
Add mind to give it humanity.
Void I'm not sure, but it's likely related to free will (red, the fruit of the tree of knowledge, void meaning infinite choices).
And finally, add light to give hope and a touch of divinitiy.
What does this mean? You unite the light, the rainbow leading to the light at the end.
New headcanon. Isle elder wasn’t actually banished, everyone jsut forgot they existed. This tradition continues with daily quests… and the fan base in general
There are 7 lights, each corresponding to a part of the rainbow, and each having symbolic importance mentioned above.
the fact that it was the forest elder that received the blue power is too coincidental to the fact our lapis lazuli is basically our forest elder
I'm sorry but i feel as though nobody is willing to listen to and acknowledge what im saying unless somebody else says it. I feel as though everyone is trying to come up with a bunch of different ways to disprove the majority of what I have to say and refuse to acknowledge my theories as a possible truth, especially on things unconfirmed. This has made me feel very upset and has made me lose joy in coming here to provide my own opinions. I will be taking a break from this channel and will refuse to speak to many of you. I just need to be able to manage my mental health, and this isn't helping.
Would it help if you had a chance to compose your thoughts without anyone interrupting you? I'd be happy to give you the floor if you want.
it's ok, part of theory crafting is having our theories refuted.
take your time and come back when you're ready. I'm sure everyone will be happy to engage as we are now
This. Heck, I didn't think the King was in the game for a solid several months of me playing, and then another several hours arguing with people when I could have just gone to GW. Happens to the best of us.
today salem shattered my hopes and dreams by proving the Enchantment Crew were piloting the Forgotten Ark
Also, Sophos? You keep inflating my ego with all the compliments I might end up taller than the King.
lol I've literally been ghosting chat cos
- i busy
- current topic aint my cup of tea
- trying to join in will give me a headache lol
try your luck and receive a head massage instead
Same. It's a whole mood
So, what are we calling this rainbow theory? I'm leaving it to y'all to name this one.
on this, I think vela had a similar thought, might be a great idea to discuss this with them when they are online
they even made some nice graphics
credit: Vela (replied to original post)
Or maybe you should do share with them. I get the feeling Vela doesn't jive to well with my ... eccentricity
from what i gathered, vela is just grumpy lol but i love them
i like how we have different personalities in the vault
Ah, if that's all. I'll try to ease up on the more jokey/memey theories around them.
Imagine if one of the ancestors we forgot to ascend was looking at us in the Vault and being like "wth they doin"
For clarification in general because I feel like it’s important: I try to find holes in theories a lot- other people’s and my own - this does not mean I have any bad feelings towards you or your theory, am just thinking it through and/or explaining why I personally believe it. Sorry if I come off as overly critical, I just love analyzing stuff and tend to get caught up in it
I think it's great. Really sparks up some great conversation, and makes theories that much more robust.
Does anyone in lorechat use the Socratic method?
I use the Lapisic method
THIS
i had to elaborate on that A LOT in my first three months of being a theorist
fruity was very supportive, i would've given up, cos i rattled a lot of feathers, KP people, vela, butter, the whole dynamic changed when i entered chat with my blocks of paragraphs (which i admittedly dont do anymore here)
You get bored of it really quickly, and it requires the other party(ies) to tolerate endless questions. There's a reason why Socrates was killed by forcing him to drink hemlock.
the who
These days you don't just kill people for doing that, so it's a bit better HDFHASGH;ASDNG
Socrates was a possibly Ancient Greek philosopher who would approach philosophy in a specific way, namely going up to random people and questioning their beliefs until he, or they, ran into a contradiction and had to rethink their entire life.
Plato wrote of him extensively, and it's debated whether he actually existed, or if he was a fictional character to frame the dialogues that Plato would use in his teachings.
Being too critical/mean/annoying is a massive fear of mine, especially because social interactions - especially online ones - are often hard for me to judge. Apologizes in advance if I do anything along those lines, it’s not on purpose
i was joking lolol i know who the greats were, and that they were all loons
I think it's less a notion of being mean, and more one where an objective critique of topics is often interpreted as negative because a) it's hard to convey tone in text, and b) attribution bias in favor of one's own ideas.
Case in point was Jam's joke, which flew so far over my head it was basically a crab looking at a Sky Kid in orbit.
tbf it was two words
I know a one word joke, if you'd like to hear it.
tone indicators are cool /srs
Me.
Not only has lapis been elected to the position of two different elders, they have also been turned into a tone indicator. When will it end
You're catching onto my plan. With enough compliments, I'll inflate my ego and ascend to Orbit, solving the mystery of ascension in Sky.
BUT YOU HAVENT CONNECTED TO THE LIGHT WELL ENOUGH
Nor have I inflated my ego enough, because that reference flew so high over my head it might as well have been the Megabird soaring over a crab.
Be careful. Don't let Megabird smite you.
Megabird atheists in a nutshell:
are you one?
Lapis answer the question
H-hey, so how about that Treasure Reef darkstone, huh? Crazy stuff with all those diamonds, right hahaha?
Nice try but it won’t work
Answer the question.
have you seen my document on the rule of four?
Answer it and we won’t repeat what happened to Baudshaw
Haha, Geee whiz that boat theory in Eden sure is interesting! Salem, mind going into that again in excruciating detail?
you mean they got into heart debt?
Salem’s not here
Yep, but we can just keep reminding Lapis about the question
ahhh lemme guess
the Light in the Sky technically isn't in the game, huh
/j
Yeah, sure, anything you say. Insert generic contrarian opinion here.
Megabird Atheist could also mean
your skykid doesn't give a flying honk about Megabird :3
Are you a Megabird Atheist?
You can’t leave until you answer the question
Sometimes, they can still hear my voice…
Salem, great to see you here! Got any interesting theories you're just dying to share?
I will continue to believe my theory about Megabird being a massive light superorganism until the end of time
Nice
||don’t help Lapis escape||
I mean, think about it. Combined with my theory of massive light creatures being a mini hivemind, suggesting that Megabird is the fully matured version of this, it becomes very cool
This is actually heavily supported in the game, as the tendrils of Megabird are shown to be the numerous birds flying throughout Sky.
Ok but are you a Megabird Atheist?
Yeah, for once hiveminds are in a good alignment!
(what's it like living in one tho)
I am going to sleep now, have fun avoiding getting smited <3
Gn
Oh, would you look at the time! Looks like I gotta go sleep too. Darn, I really wanted to answer your burning question. Oh well. Good night!
mm delicious
don't get smoten!
Are you sure it’s not morning for you
Me: before I go to bed, lemme peek into lorechat.
Lorechat: god is dead and lapis killed them
Me: goodnight lorechat, I’ll see you all in therapy
yep we need therapy
guys, did anyone see salem around? ive been looking everywhere.....
wait who did i just accidentally reply to it's not showing who they are hmm
I will continue to believe my theory about Megabird being a supermassive macrocosm Light until the end of time
aajsdafaaahahfashfahgHhaahah
hHhaHHA
YOU REPLIED TO SALEM
weird, what is your message saying?
i think discord is glitching hmm
i said
YOU REPLIED TO SALEM
i cant read your messages fruiry thats so weird
LMAO
for when @keen shore wakes up, all boats in prarry cave are DEF not the droids you are looking for, no refinery symbols here
got some really good pictures of those sockets ive been finding however, i think they're fascinating. gold rimmed, could just be decor, unless that gold material is important.....?
(field research done with @eternal cobalt who i just server split with)
also shoutout to the time when you as a moth thought that sky would be THIS open world, as well as the fact that i have to oob to enjoy using the swimming ability anywhere other than abyss (seriously oob in prairie cave and take a dive you will not regret it just like tgc cant vocally regret abysmal lack of actual content)
to make this lore content in some concept art of prairie it shows each realm being open world, and in light awaits they tried to make many realms seamless and it didnt work out okay byeeee
(tldr oobs make me salty)
I suppose the crystals Commodore found and the big cut crystals underwater are at their unrefined state
From what I remember, in Concept Arts the Darkstones are depicted as black meanwhile we today I think they are missing in game, even if there are redstones, maybe corrupted crystals (an recently I'd like to think of them, as in Star Wars kyber crystals, as living "beings")
Plus the tiny thing about the name of Tearful Light Miner always bugged my mind and this could be a reason. Ancestors mined and collect lightcrystals, in the sense these useful prism which can store light, not that they're as Light aligned as a mantas, the best example of Light Creature (sort of like we considered Fish, before and after Abyss, being a little bit neutral than Light Creatures, minor light creatures if you like)
BTW, Jack Black (either the card or the singer) is called like that because of the ♠♣ "element" of the cards, if I am not mistaken
LOL, yeah ! Things is.. the Spirits haven't realized yet
"Who let's the dogs out? Who? Who? Who?" 🎶 ... ||
||
Idk about wood decaying, but I agree, they must be some ties with Assembly
||I know it might not count very much, but Assembly shelves are foun in the Sneezing Scholar "island" too||
"Void" might be tied to Tragedy too, which help build pathos in Storytelling (all subtle qualities, elements I thiny the Red Light/Orb is tied to)
If Vault is the best representation of the realm of mind, then Isle is the best place where it's closer bond to Storytelling, alot of murals (inclusiding Prophecy) and the Intro Tunnel, the only place where there is captions/a voice (probably Isle Elder's one, who at Dawn is able to control/keep at bay/fend off the darkness of the night)
||My daily rumble about these qualities_ of Red Light 😅 ||
But there are only 6 light Orbs in Enchantment...

Stumbled upon this picture again and I wanted to share another random thought
Since the4 Elements were mixed together igniting the Eden Catastrophe only one person could have a chance of being able to subdue the problem.
Who do we know was able to tame the 4 Trials and collect the 4 Lights...?
|| The King / The Prince / The Chosen One
||||who might have tried to absorb back the 4 Elements, extracting them from the Giant Red Power Diamond, but since the GRPD was resonating with the Orbit (in the form of the Beam) They could had been absorded inside the Diamond instead||

Ever heard of recycled game assets?
Hahahaha, maybe this means that Team Assembly is NOT the IKEA, but merely another consumer of whatever Sky's IKEA is.
@hushed steeple I perfectly agree with your analysis of Prophecy Murals telling us the locations we (will) find the 4 Lights/Elements for Enchantment (one of the many prophecies we see in Caves of Priohecies)
@keen shore About you conterpoints, Idk why the Green Light isn't identicall, but the flowers we see on that murals suggest me it was in butterflies field (but then maybe some mantas kindnapped it for a ride in Bird nest
)
That leaves/clouds/smoke/evaporation is the most criptic one and so open to interpretation that it migh also be never explain/clarified in any way :-(
Yes, there's is no island around the Blue Light location, but considering thay its mural depicts a spot where water arrive from a forest after following down a stream. I also agree that spot to be where the Ice Rink is (because the river might lead there!)
Then again the Blue Light island could be under the solid ice of the Rink, if not that thing in Rink that has/had 2 bridges to the races halls. It looks artificially build by Ancestors, but at its base there is a tunnel inside rock formation
Yeah.. that's the most obvious but dull option...
Game mechanism vs Lore
I mean, the Assembly's Furniture Delivery Service thing got dashed with the removal of their logos from the packs
ahahahahahah
I think that they DID build the bookshelves in their bookshelves, but it was designed by someone else, so no I doubt they're actually SkyKEA ahahahHAHhhhhahHAHAHAHAHAH
It probably wasn't their Skydea
But I think I know why they (finally) removed that logo and we'll see what future updates has in store for us 😉
Their logo is on Shared Spaces tho
hc is that they patented it (still pending tho because they underage ahhaah)
After scouts could have collected the broken pieces who grown-ups didn't like anymore and assembled their treehouse on an abandoned warehouse (those huts/treehouss are too good to be just their hand word, they're even more elegant than Grandma's Hut
)
"You need to be This Tall to pantent this"

Yeah
I have a HC that the small dark diamonds (yes their hoop has dark diamond in it) were scavenged from some garbage dump in Hidden Forest
Hoop? What does that mean?
the hexagons that we have to collect for the last Assembly quests
(the dark diamond is at the very top)
Ooh, the stick frame/"ring"
Maybe scavenged Resources, yeah
Yeah from a dump
Maybe behind the temple or something there's some dumps that they go to every now and then
I kind of wish TGC could add a function to it, like using it to create our own flying Route to have a flying circuit with rings as checkpoints
It could also be a way get an infinite flying power! Running out of energy? Tap and pass inside a ring. INSTANT RECHARGE !

But it would be deeply unfair to who hasn't met the TS
The Assembly spirits can't fly, and the only time we see them using the hoops is when we see Daydream using it as a funny air seat
Man I wonder how they get on/off those things without breaking some ancestor bones
I think a missed opportunity was to make the hoop like a picture frame
the diamond on top can project a memory stored in it
Do you have a picture of that scene. I might have lost/forgot to screenshot that
from youtube but
The thing about Maieutics?
I don't even know what that means.
@tulip aspen @rustic heron well, not just contradict them and rethink, but also to help them conceive/give birth their own ideas (he described himself as using sortof the art of Maieutics as the women who helped other women to give birth)
Everyone is a midwife in lorechat /j

I also like to think our theories here take the same roles as in Hegel's 3 stages Dialectics, Thesis Anthesis and Synthesis
Thus pursuing a collaborative balance between different opinions ☯️
O-K, enough philosophy for Lore Chat today😅
Just realized but the door we opened in 4th quest is staying open. Discredits the theory we are reliving the questgiver's memories...
Yeah, the quests are probably present-day type. For once the Commodore finally notices us. :D
Yes.. I think there's a good mix of past and present Resources we collected
This is referring to the quests..
Copy paste my past comment
I would be glad to read their observations tomorrow (this will be my comment/bookmark) but there is on last observation I'd like to leave as input
From what I recall not all the resources we collected were already there in the present before quest started and manifested on the spot (hope this won't be addressed/fixed/retconned in future updates)
1st quest, Door was closed but I was almost Resource was present
2nd quest, Resources manifested on the mines tunnels and carts
3rd quest, Resources were present to keep the aquarium working
4th quest, Resources were not in place (I entered round room with crabs without OOB and I saw the slots above doors empty) but since Giant Door was sealed it was reasonable it was inplace like aquarium (but I cannot be sure, cause I didn't want to spoil me the story so I didn't OOB there)
These seems to suggest me that these season evokes/manifests thing that were actually already collected by questgiver and some we clumsy pick up ourselves 🚨 (unleashing the Kraken Leviathan)
A good mix of Past & Present
Possible they were just delivering firework spells and what is drawn here happened a while ago to them.
Oh ! Thank you !
I did oob there (4th quest area), there was no diamond before the quest.
Mmmm
buongiorno a tutti! glad to see teb is online! I'll read back all the wonderful discussions!
But there were in the Mantas acquarium...
Hope it was just a minor bug
Maybe in a future update I will kindnap a moth to ask if they see a crystal OOBing there xD
Hmm... maybe, as said previously, we're doing a mix of both our own memories and reliving the qg's
Yeah, some of it is definitely in the present
Ash said Abyss Guide's trying to help us get into the crew
"Okay we're just gonna make you crew-shaped and hope they think you're one of them!"
I’d like to imagine most/all of it is in the present
but I know that can’t be true
Aaaand bye 🍝
Goodbye
You know I always wondered why there weren’t Sky ships. The only one that even gets a mention is Resh x Tsadi, even though there’s at least 30 non-child characters
No I promise I’m not going crazy
If you want more sky ships, then Instagram has you covered
There are Sky ships between spirits! go to Instagram! :D
Do you want me to list them one by one :3
Sure!
in dms tho :D
it's a long list
I'm listing the ones I know exist, doesn't mean I ship it tho
I've hinted at the notions in the past, but now I will explain my theory.
the King attempted to become an Artificial Megabird. part of the series of how the King mimics Lucifer-like figures.
One key element in the game, both in concept arts and in the final games is: MEMORIES. We help the spirits regain their identity and ascend by helping them relive their memories, memories are the main plot element of the game.
And then, in some concept arts we see that the Megabird "absorbs" experiences and memories from those that ascend to her. Not in a draining type of way, but in the same fashion that we relive memories. We could say that the Megabird "feeds" on memories (figuratively, the person will not lose their memories).
So we are given a reason for the cycle of birth and rebirth: to be born, create new experiences and memories, and then return to the Megabird, so she can absorb these experiences. In fact, we can say that the Megabird IS this amalgamation of all the experiences and memories of the creatures and peoples of the world.
◇ ◈ ◇
Only, there is one more entity doing the same: The Vault of Knowledge.
Like with the Megabird, the Vault is storing the memories and experiences of the people ascending Eden. Like with the Megabird, they are also creating this collective amalgamation of all the experiences of the people of the Sky World; and storing them in Crystals, ever bigger Crystals.
In the Cave of Prophecy murals even, we see how the King's ascension to something "greater" than a Sky Kid happens after the creation of the Vault, and how this ascended form is shown directly above the Vault. We even see all creatures and ancestors worshiping and circling the King as if he became a God.
Meaning: The King and the Mega Crystal in Eden have become an Artificial Megabird.
HEY JAM ADD THAT TO THE "WE LIVE TO TEACH GOD" RELIGION
given by how this amalgamation of memories are stored in crystals (darkstone), the King and his Mega Crystals are basically the anti-version of the Megabird. The opposite god.
May I DM you Baudshaw
Yeah!
Although we don’t know if the King was the Chosen One, I do like this theory a lot!
Ash has said the Cave of Prophecies depict important events in the Sky world's past.
That is true, but there’s still evidence that points to the Prophecy Guide being the chosen one

Tower of Babel/Epic of Gilgamesh/Icarus
man's pursuit of divinity
You even got people worshipping the king in that last constellation in the Vault cutscene. Is the king attempting to consume memories perhaps, to mimic the megabird reabsorbing the memories and experience of those that passed on ?
I think that's what he is doing, because it's basically what Sky Kids do; but the King corrupted it, by industrializing the process and not ascending to Orbit, aka defying the Megabird.
There is also one more point of interest, but this is more related to the King being a Lucifer-like figure. If you watch the Intro cutscene we see that the King is not the Orbit-Monarch/Light. He is an usurper. The cutscene shows how the King fell from a lower cloud; likely only after he does the Trials he ascends into the King position, effectively usurping the position rightfully belonging to the Orbit-Monarch. (Megabird?)
how did the eden sky turn red
Pollution is one of them
how does it go from dark blue/black midnight to red
Giving me pure Hollow Knight Vibes
We don't know nothing for sure, lore about Eden is very weak and full of interpretations
Pollution or Corruption or Accident during experiment on the Mega Crystal (Power source or something else to ascend?) Just to to summarise
Features Bird of Light ➡️➡️➡️ Features King
For example I think the bugs about unlit stars on the capes in some maps like Prophecy, the Deep Darkness inside Trial of Fire, the altered black color on the bottom of mantas or the water levels lower in Sanctuary "could all be" a missing rendered layer (if they fix them I hope we'd wish to check if that Giant Door Crystal is in place)
(I'm pretty sure the shores look a bit dried, and that could be a reason why some wax turns blue even if it's not visibly touching water)
@sharp lichen thanks for mentioning Dias Irae leitmotiv the other day
Sometimes the waves/tides make the polluted geyser turning into a peninsula instead of tiny isle
This is the first time I could finally agree there was kind of some king propaganda...
⏩
Some once theorized the role of Lamed Vault Elder as the role of either the Queen Mother or Resh's Wife
If not the kind Aunt, cause Teth's headress/mask recalls the "king emblem" and some nicknamed her as Forest Mama (a bit strict mother kind)
But anyway, fanfictions
interesting how the Forest/Rain gate looks like it has the King and Bird of Light simultaneously
hi lore chat what do you guys call those gold stuff that emits steam in the polluted geyser?
Please someone tell me I'm not the only one seeing the resemblance
#sky-memes message

DOH!
Sorry I meant to answer you first:
Sometimes golden container, golden diamond or batteries. But the really little we know about those and naming them without understand their purpose can be hard 😅
ohhh okay thx! i wanna see some theories so i just wanted to put those names in the search bar lolol
i just realized the round broken stage thing in the area of wasteland that has the first krill is almost identical to the one in forest's temple and then it reminds me of a consept art about it kkkk
If you ask me it's really hard to tell what those are... maybe they are batteries or accumulators (which would explains why they are shipped in the shipwreck, to sell/transport them abroad) I think they might be tied to the light we see on the giant golden "dynamo" on the ceilings of Forest Temple.
There are 16 light emissions there (8 rotating respectively clockwise and 8 anticlockwise), which remind me of those "containers"
I cannot remember any other theories here in lore, we tend to discuss about other topics (mostly "King")
SOO you might need to ask/wait others to read different opinions
COrrect, they seems identical, but hard to tell if they had the same function (one is a Elder temple we use it , the other is just a "Broken Temple")
In old concept art, that giant golden "dynamo" could have been a giant press, but I doubt it still is
yeah i didn't find much talking about it, but not surprising since it's a pretty mysterious object lol
Wierd how the Valley masks look blue, would it mean something given the color coding of orange = light and blue = dark ?
candle conscious
idk if anybody has already noticed or pointed this out but there's this symbol in forest temple that looks like the one on a boat in eden! i believe Salem talked about it
Last time I didn't hide it, it derailed the convo, so...
maybe the blue mask is made of stone and the yellow mask is made of wood?
w h a t
:000000000 @keen shore
Yea that’s something I’ve noticed but never been able to pin down.
Why would Valley be dark though and not Golden Wasteland? Environmentally, Valley is bright compared to the Wasteland. Although Valley required a lot of darkstone tech to sustain itself in the mountains, so it could be “dark” in that sense
Considering how prominent Orange is in the Valley’s architecture and environment, maybe they wanted to contrast it? But I really don’t know
Forest and Valley are kinda the point of no return for Sky civilization, I feel like...
Forest mama created an invention that gave the civilization immense power, but at a cost (which the spirits didn't realize at the time).
Valley turned the sanctity of Light into sport and something really light-hearted - there's something almost blasphemous about it...
Might also have to do with lighting?
wait guys i solved it
(bowing medalist i am so sorry)
Yep! These are the refinery symbols. They loosely resemble the symbol for the Light
but with some modifications you’ll probably see pretty quickly just eyeballing them - my guess is because this is where light was harvested. Kind of like using a lightning symbol for generators or so on.
They’re also located in the second area of wasteland, where you first meet the krill, and in treasure reef, suggesting those areas are refineries as well! Fun fact - the forest temple is the only one that also has a manta symbol a short distance away, near the mechanism you light to bring the elder statue up, seen in the image here. This means that either the other refineries got destroyed so much that this manta symbol is no longer visible, or that they used different/larger light creatures and that’s why krill are just located there and not in forest
There’s the 7 light orb in daily quests, which is found in all realms. It’s yellow, and represents light presumably. It’s not tied to enchantment.
Oh wait! Do you mean the lightseeker lights? The ones that are in the quests called “find the light in [realm]?”
Yeah, that one. I’ve heard it presumably ties in with Isle.
this is so cuteee dbdjwjbdjsj
I don’t actually know a lot about those lights. The only thing that immediately popped into my head was how similar they look to the the light in laughing lightcatcher’s memory, although I don’t know 100% if they’re connected.
If they are, these lights would probably be most important to prairie just because that’s where the spirit memory is and it aligns with the symbol on the docks. Isle would use them too because there’s two murals of them bringing the lights to the temple, the second one of which is only located in the ushering stsrgazer’s spirit memory for some reason
emotionally, I am Lookout Scout
Whenever I have to figure out how a new technology works I panic and then stare at it suspiciously
So, how familiar are people with Platonic solids, and has anyone tried looking for these in Sky?
no idea, but a romantic solid can be bought for 15 hearts in home
The reason why I mention this is because of the heavy use of the octahedron, which is associated with the element of air.
Guess which shape the Eden crystal is in? Same thing with vault. It’s heavy use throughout Sky suggests that this same symbolic relation may have been intentional.
There’s a reason I didn’t take math in college
Octahedron for context
This is a more ancient philosophical take, so you should be okay.
What’s interesting to note is that some blessing types are generalised to the octahedral shape as well, with a prominent example being the sleepy merchant boat.
ik there was discussion earlier that the diamond shape may more efficiently concentrates the magic/power of light, hence why ancestors made power diamonds and the diamond shape on some mantas' heads.
Which also correlates well with the notion of air and flight. Diamonds are often used to control flight mechanisms, and some mantas feature these shapes heavily as well, and are also strongly correlated with flight.
I wonder how the darkstone disk mechanisms helping the orreries float in valley & the floating darkstone disks in vault work then. Maybe instead of focusing light to power things, they just have the levitation property since they can’t hold light as well? + keep in mind they are in much larger quantities so that levitation power would be stronger than an uncharged darkstone crystal
If so, that means the levitation property is completely unconnected to whether the crystal is charged or not, which might explain the “”darkstone”” boats in isle and prairie
In the Cave of Prophecy murals even, we see how the King's ascension to something "greater" than a Sky Kid happens after the creation of the Vault
Which part of the prophecy says that?
So, if we follow this line of thought, changing the shape of darkstone may impact what element it controls. Tetrahedron are associated with fire, cubes with earth, octahedra with air, and icosahedron with water.
those were made solely for the purpose of dailies, they never existed during lightseekers iirc
yea, cos its supposed to LIFT the ancestors into orbit! : D
I have somehow never heard of these before, and am now researching them. Super neat :3c I am trying to think of ways beyond the octahedron this would relate to, because it seems like the tetrahedron would be really common in isle and prairie due to its relation with fire
Or because it was intended as a giant flight blessing.
i find it kinda weird that i feel so depleted to actually comment on all these new theories, its almost like my era is over and ive resided to my docs now and just let you newer folks just do ur thing lol
feel like after all the drama and the fall of KP, the care to just absolutely escaped me
I’m like around 5or so years older than you. You ain’t so old that your “era” is over.
Get back out there and start theorising again, soldier. That’s a stern suggestion.
In my head, either the King is the Megacrystal or he is the Megabird in the new lore changed from concept art
vault is shown under the Chosen One because they are showing each realm, and vault is one of them
i also dont understand the first picture, because that person is a scholar, that means to you....?
KP?
A mythological old lore server. It became a place where several strangers swear a lot, at least that was my experience.
Fun mural fact! Often important figures such as elders or the king are depicted as larger than other ancestors, even if this is not true. This isn’t really noticeable until the vault elder, who’s either shorter than or average size from other ancestors but is still depicted as taller. Size in murals is more a measure of importance than actual accurate size!
yea, so in sophos' first pic thats def a scholar and not the vault elder
theres is a semi good point in being curious why they add a detail of the chosen one needing a scholar to be behind them when they 'save the world' by activating the light beam
I'm responding to the following exchange:
me: In the Cave of Prophecy murals even, we see how the King's ascension to something "greater" than a Sky Kid happens after the creation of the Vault
you: Which part of the prophecy says that?
so I was responding to how "King's acension to something 'greater' than a Sky Kid happened after the creation of the Vault"
Showing how the Vault is not depicted in the mural showing the King and some followers climbing Eden. But the Vault was depicted in the mural with the King ascended as something "greater" than a Sky Kid.
So showing evidence for the claim that "King's acension to something 'greater' than a Sky Kid happened after the creation of the Vault".
o
i mean
maybe they just happened to not depict vault in the first pic? idk
I think they probably would imo. But that's all, now we can speculate what it could mean.
Could be that it was the King that established the Vault, etc. Just pointing out the evidence, not really defending the theory here lol
imo i still believe the chosen one appears (as the child in stargazer) AFTER the kingdom is fully built by the ancestors and elders, so i do admittedly have that bias against vault having existed after it all
Or: Giant “Laser” That Goes Into Space blasted through the mountain and helped hollow out the space for vault
thatd certainly be cool
ur 10 years older btw, im valley age
This is actually an art concept called hierarchy of scale!! It appears in TONS of ancient art and it’s often how you can tell who is a monarch or god.
I agree! But still it would force us to read deeper into the symbolism of showing the Vault only when the King is ascended into godhood. I haven't thought much about it myself. But it's interesting how all the creatures are circling the King, and the ancestors bowing.
In Orbit we see a similar symbology with all the creatures circling the Megabird. So imo, the King either is the Megabird, or became an artificial Megabird.
Sophos: the king established the Vault
Salem: the king established the Vault after blasting a giant space laser through the mountain.
several people are typing...
the king establish
the king
Or attempted to do so. Whatever happened in Eden failed.
The notion of flight and its relation to divinity may have played a role in this notion of deification.
Lucifer, "light bringer", fallen angel, "prince of the world", tempted mankind in Eden
the antichrist
I wonder just how important memories are in this universe. I was going to type up a message about how vault would be a much weaker version of Megabird because it just stores memories and not the person’s consciousness in general, since memories by themselves aren’t able to form thoughts, make decisions, and so on. But the only thing really required to ascend spirits is reliving one of their memories. Several seasons (sanctuary, Maybe dreams, and a bunch of others if you believe that the guides’ past memory somehow affects the quest) make a big deal out of memories, which I brushed off because they’d still be important to a person without outside lore playing a part. Hmmmmm
This isn’t that bad of a reference, considering Lucifer was the angel of light, second only to God, and fell from the light (remind you of anything)?
you?
our angel of light,
second only to God
fell from somewhere
💅
Lucifer got punted from heaven only once, while we do it every week. Coward
A scary thought. Who then is the God of lorechat?
And if this is hell, what’s the server equivalent of heaven?
the collective consciousness of the lorechat, from which TGC takes ideas
Fun fact! If my idea about vault being the result of the Space Laser is true (which would explain why it looks so regular and cylindrical despite being a cave) then that would imply vault could only be established after the beam of light started fading because otherwise everyone inside would just get laser blasted. Combine this with how the circle representing the realms seems to work chronologically as it goes counterclockwise, with the stars beginning to fall over wasteland and wind (possibly from the Storm) crashing against the outside of vault, and you have to wonder just how long vault existed for
I don't see differences
Mongolian traditional clothing
Another thought is that Vault was responsible for the ascension.
What if Vault was the shadow government using the Child of Light’s “divine right” to rule as a puppet monarchy?
i wonder if the Sky World had conspiracy theoriest broadcasting their crazy ideas through memory crystals lmao
Check this
It's reference for spirit clothing
Sky dark worlders. The world is not filled with light, but shadows and darkness.
Fire elements can’t melt darkstone beams.
The Eden disaster was staged by the King to control the population.
Darkness corruption is a myth. There is no such thing as darkness corruption.
Oh, I forgot one. Megabird Atheism.
personally I can see it, for the hat only
the coat is just a pirate/mariner coat. but for the hat many cultures end up developing the same technology because they have to deal with similar problems; like how the Mongolians had to deal with their harsh winters just like the scandinavians.
I'm mentioning this because the people that created the spirits have said they are designed based on a mix between Pirates and the everyday folk of old Scandinavia ("vikings")
You can’t spell “Viking” without “king”.
I couldn't find a similar cape. But I've seen it irl
Your theory nice! /srs
enough of viking, lets talk about people that viked and vik
I will vik
CONSPIRACY THEORY: king is just the vault elder in a mask. This explains why there is no seat for them at the hypothetical Eden room, why both of them are so short, and why we’re not able to save them both
Vik, viked, viking, will vik, has viken.
Please no you’re giving me latin synopsis flashbacks
there's a quip that's "remembering is how we prevent repeating the mistakes of the past" or something like that. while I do not think spirit memories particularly serve to forewarn the present, they do give us clues about the past that can affect the present. this is why we record information, essentially writing down or documenting memories.
when reliving spirit memories, we often start some distance away from where that spirit was petrified, sometimes traveling rather far to get there. whether these memories are the spirits' or the Sky world's, they are footprints of the past we follow in order to guide us in the present. in Sanctuary, the missing bells are lost not just because they were misplaced but because the Guide couldn't remember where they were put. did Guide move the bells and forget (intentionally or not) or did someone else move them and not tell the Guide because they wanted the bells to remain lost for the future? it is only with the Guide's fragments of memories and clues are we able to locate the bells.
our experiences and our memories of those experiences construct us. they can even shape our instincts. memories are nothing without consciousness to reflect upon them, but consciousness is nothing without memories to refer to. could we have found the petrified spirits and the bells without any records to help us? yes, but we would've had a harder time because we wouldn't really know where to start, a lost consciousness wandering a blank space where memory could be.
if Megabird is a mass entity of consciousnesses, those consciousnesses must have memories to be useful. what of the Vault then, a mass collection of memories with no consciousnesses to reflect upon them?
idk where I was going with this, my mind blanked off
CONSPIRACY THEORY: darkstone is actually made of the bones of our fallen comrades and we must revolt against King to avenge them
Alasdair love your discord status btw 👏👏👏
Oh Megabird almost DEFINITELY needs and uses memories a lot. The issue is it needs consciousnesses making decisions to function as well. Vault has a ton of the first (although probably not as much as Megabird) but none of the second… ||unless we start a theory that the spirit memory echoes in vault are somehow sentient and that’s what’s projecting the disjointed landscape around us.|| Unfortunately, this means that in a competition between Megabird and the vault, vault would EASILY lose.
However, keep in mind we only see inarguable evidence of the megabirds existence when we reach orbit. Even if that’s the voice in the intro (hotly debated) being guided directly by it is probably something very few, if any, ancestors experienced. Vault is right there. It’s not too out there to say that even if a false Megabird got created and turned out to be a much weaker ripoff, ancestors would still worship it over the original, just because evidence of the second actually existing is much easier to find without having to die first
i'm just ruminating on why the Sanctuary bells were misplaced and why there were clues to find them. surely the clues means that they were intended to be found again, but why move them in the first place? was there something or someone after the bells? for what purpose? did the Guide intentionally forget where they moved to so that something or someone couldn't wrassle the location from them? did the Guide fear that they may give up the location is pressured enough that they had the foresight to make it impossible for themself to give up the location? then leave clues for themself or others to someday reassemble the belltower when things were safe again
we do know what the bells can do: summon light creatures from the ocean.
Maybe they got stolen and displaced by mantas (would explain why they’re in hard to reach places) like the flight chimes, but then how would the sanctuary guide give us clues?? Maybe they remember where the bells are but not much beyond that, and the bells help them recall the other memories??
The mantas eat gold remember?
They stole the bells
If Ancestors were harvesting light creatures, a sanctuary for light creatures would try and protect the creatures by driving them away.
Removing the chimes temporarily may have been a way to do this.
good idea but something I want to point out is that we know the Elders can go to Orbit to possibly meet with Megabird and come back. perhaps that privilege gives the obligation to keep the ancestors on the right path. the ancestors, of course, likely couldn't thus more liable to straying from faith and worshiping false idols.
if the Elders were more connected to Megabird, what made them stray?
Darkstone & greed right?
Perhaps their devotion was too strong. They believe their path and ideals are the way to the Megabird. They strayed from being United, losing sight of the Megabird in their attempts to connect more strongly to it.
The road to hell is paved with good intentions.
yea that's exactly what I thinking. the Guide might've moved the bells to prevent other ancestors (and possibly Elders) from gaining easy access to light creatures to make into power diamonds. fearing they may give the location away if tortured (would they do that?), the Guide wipes their own memories.
Maybe, after the harvesting started, sanctuary shut down that part with the chimes because
- they didn’t want it to be common knowledge that their chimes could summon light creatures and therefore get used as a method of capturing them
- they didn’t want light creatures to associate ancestors with food and safety, sort of like how you’re not supposed to feed wild animals, so they’d be more likely to avoid them and stay safe
Huh i like that
Fun fact! The chimes also get used in forest on top of the broken bridge, and judging by the glowing symbols on them were used to summon mantas. Combine this with the manta symbol and the trapped mantas in forest’s refinery, and I think it’s pretty obvious what those chimes were used for :(
Soylent light is mantas
The bells don’t get used at all in either wasteland refinery [although the arches in abyss have gray Blobs that look somewhat similar to flight’s chimes on them, although they’re either extremely worn away or something else]. This supports the idea that both of them used bigger creatures than mantas, and without a chimesmith’s cooperation and with no ability to steal and copy previous designs (since there were none for summoning such larger creatures, the only one was hidden by sanctuary guide) they couldn’t use them
thinking of the mantas trapped outside the Forest temple in darkness plants subtly implying what happened in the Forest.
though worth noting those bells summon jellyfish, not mantas.
The chimes attract all kinds of light creatures. Birds, Mantas, Jellyfish, Sky kids. The works.
They do now, but maybe that’s because the mantas learned not to follow them - when they’re working you can see glowing manta symbols on them iirc
Also, my guess is that those mantas somehow escaped from the cage, but had already been partially drained somehow and that’s where the darkness plants came from — their own budding corruption. I wonder if darkness plants would have sprouted on the abyss mantas if we’d come a bit later
Is the whale a spirit?
Or maybe the creatures are just really good fliers and can travel up through the Storm and ascend.
Light creatures actually go through Eden to die and be reborn just like us, although with them being much more vulnerable to the effects of the storm than us it happens less often than it used to & they probably fly above the clouds where we can’t see them. This is actually theorized to be the reason why some mantas have more wings and the existence of massive light creatures, they’ve been reborn multiple times (similar to how our flame strengthens each time we do it)
I bet the reason there are no darkness plants in Abyss is because players would be frustrated being unable to burn them.
Awesome. The Isle temple ‘temple art’ depicts Prairie, Forest, Valley, and then Wasteland, Vault, Eden. The one missing is Isle because we’re already there.
I feel like you told me that awhile ago. I was sure I updated the description then to have that but I guess I forgot — it’s updated now, ty :3c
What I try to do these days is picture how Eden actually would look if we could fly around it as a fully fleshed out 3D map without any mobile game limitations, both now and when it was pristine.
I try to put together all the images we see of it and come up with some concept. Some part of it is still kinda intact in the ending. Is that just the central tower that we see in the mural? Maybe the destroyed area is all the surrounding towers. So that would mean that eventually, after the red diamond, there would be perhaps more incline to reach the true peak, where we would meet the gigantic base of that tower we visit in the ending.
All I know is that Eden was once really big and grand just based on what I’ve seen
Judging by this mural (#lore-discussion-spoilers message) the spires seemed to go all down the side, which I would not have expected, especially since the version of it in isle temple doesn’t have those (probably since it’s simplified)
I’m SUPER super late to this cus I was busy all yesterday evening (critical role thursday hahaha) but FINALLY we get some Abyss concept art that’s awesome!! I’m watching the video now
Wait where is the concept art
In the #news video!
Thanks
That’s enormous. Judging by that mural I would call it a fortress-city rather than a castle.
Now I’m thinking that the final WL cave is like an entrance to the “Castle” area, with the death area being like the royal grounds and the ascent area being the actual castle. Especially with that ridiculously huge door. So that means that all the normal rock rain areas are more like city roads.
I know, right?? You could maybe even say the main “crown” you see in the isle temple was constructed first, and the rest came along later, maybe as defensive walls against… something. [The corruption seems to come from Eden, which makes this a bit weird, but it’s possible that krill and other massive corrupted creatures existed in small quantities before then. Not to mention the war we see evidence of in GW]
There are two options here. The first is that the walls are defending against something from outside, the second is that they’re trying to trap whatever’s in Eden inside. Second idea is less likely because walls wouldn’t do too much against a massive diamond spewing out corruption unless you put a roof on top as well
I consider headphones to be canon.
Lemme see if I can find the messages why.
This one.
But yeah that shape is the general visual leitmotif of Sky.
It’s everywhere
it means a lot of different things
it could have ORIGINALLY stood for the Light, but then maybe the king took it as his own symbol
You know.. I had a thought a while ago relating to the Trial of Fire, where you have to randomly search the darkness and protect your flame.
If you pay attention to your Skykid when they're in the dark losing their flame, their eyes start to resemble the weird
Shadows that wander that area. I have a theory that Shadows are Skykids who were lost to the darkness of the trial.
I had no idea. I’ll have to check it out sometime :0
i still believe, like with assembly (which is confirmed to be this), it's more of a legacy thing.
The kingdom is probably much more ancient than the darkstone/king era, and these bell structures should be glowing examples of a time when ancestors lived naturally with light creatures, and without the expansive behavior technology would eventually bring them
So I'd believe the bells were left by a much much older generation of ancestors, who may not even have been around in the kingdom anymore
admittedly, that belief largely exists just because i dont think the sanctuary crew would or could ever do anything
However, whether it was the sanctuary crew or some ancient civilization built on the backs of relationships with light creatures, the questions certainly still should be raised:
Why did they hide the bells? Were the bells always broken or did they shatter after being left out for so long?
We know they had to have hid the bells intentionally and for a very very long time and didn't just 'lose' or misplace them, because the murals were written so that they could eventually be recovered. And also, Sanct Guide is at least slightly competent. He memorized the old rhymes that told of where the murals were hidden.
For my version of the theory, that means he learned them as a child from his predecessors, and for your version, he made them up to remember where the murals are.
that either means
-
massive ecosystems of light and dark creatures live in the ocean
-
like mantas forming from the clouds instilled with Light, Light could have fallen from the Sky and instilled the waters
or both!
The fact that they structure talking about it like a massive WAFO is immensely sus tho ngl
We gonna get an Abyss part 2, or-
I really like both ideas and I think they’re true! Maybe water is like the second best conductor of Light energy next to clouds? Using a real world analogy: over half of all photosynthetic activity on Earth occurs in the sea due to plankton (who also supply 70% of Earth’s oxygen, fun fact), AKA light is huge important factor in any ecosystem, but ESPECIALLY so in the ocean. The same kind of activity could be occurring in the world of Sky with the added effect of light = Light magic actually capable of generating creatures that then evolved into tons of different forms over time.
Also, in that quote they might not have meant “All mantas/manta creatures are first born in water before transferring to the sky,” but “All manta-adjacent life evolved from the ocean first.” Kinda resembling how life evolved on Earth I guess!
Oh man somebody needs to edit that one crab life cycle meme but with a manta instead thats like “THERE IS ONLY ONE STEP AND IT IS MANTA” because that’s how I feel speculating about sky biology LMAO
how do you think i feel writing about the biology of the beings of light lolol
About the bells, they were in place, but gray and lifeless. Then they become imbued with energy and activated. So, I think the bell "resting places" have to do with the final resting places of the ancient spirits (much older than the seasonal spirits) whose soul remnants live on in each of those bells.
Honestly this all hypes me up to eventually try to make my own speculative diagram hehehe
thatd certainly be interesting if ancestors imbue their life forces inside the bells
Yeah but what if its literal. They jump out of water. So they emerged out of the ocean.
Something like that combined with their spirits being so ascended that they don't have personhood anymore. They became collectively "the essence of the bell shrine."
yee, thats option #1 that i pointed out
They do this:
It's a Megabird analogy too. See how the bell shrine stone structure is basically a Megabird sculpture. The spirits who made this are one with the Light now.
what the devs see: "oh, its VERY important to the LORE, you wouldnt underSTAND, its a BIG secret"
what we see:
Compare to Light Awaits and concept art ancestors' mega-drawings of Megabird. #lore-discussion-spoilers message
This is going to sound disjointed but
- The deep ocean, where the sun doesn’t penetrate, is the realm of darkness and where it is most concentrated if left alone
- creatures of light inhabit the ocean to stop darkness from spreading and make it less powerful
- something (maybe the massive amounts of water pollution in forest and wasteland??) causes light creatures to leave the safety of the ocean and take to the skies, allowing darkness to fester in the depths
That last one might actually explain the Trial of Fire in a way.
I had been hoping for the next season to be a vault one so we can get Actual vault lore that doesn’t revolve around an entirely different world, but the idea of Abyss 2 may have changed my mind
Why do we lose our Flame so fast down there?
The trial of fire is Questionably Real, in the same way elder cutscenes are. The darkness could just be purposefully made that way by whoever created them in order to make the trial more difficult, or it could mirror a phenomenon in the real sky world that we haven’t come across yet
If I woke up and heard Abyss 2 on the BETA radio I would go "NOT AGAIN!" and fall back asleep out of spite /hj
New crackpot theory concept
What the pressure of the deep ocean also holds mantas in place so they don’t just dissipate into light, meaning without that pressure it requires much more effort on their end to hold themselves together and not just fall apart. As they become reborn into larger forms (elder creatures, coelacanth) their own mass makes it easier to hold themselves together; however forms sized somewhere between the elder creatures and the largest mantas don’t have enough mass to rely on yet and are simultaneously large enough to require more effort/flame than holding smaller forms. This would explain the large size jump, and why large light creatures are so rare - it’s no longer feasible for mantas to grow past 6 wings, and the large ones existing currently came into existence underneath the water and left, meaning no new ones can be created in this way
I doubt it’s true because mantas seem to be made of all or mostly light, but neat concept
i lowkey think the trials don't actually exist irl and are sorta like
mind manifestations?
we think we are doing the physical actions but they are within our mind, which also explains why we can just teleport back to our last savepoint and "wake up" in the cave
also kinda like how the top layers of vault are dubiously real
Wait
I think I know why the mantas flew out after the 3rd quest
Just like ancestors, they were trapped and long due for ascension, and they can do that now that we freed them
perhaps it's the darkness drawing our light out.
I've been thinking a lot about the breathing mechanic cos it doesn't make sense – skykids are heavily implied to not be biological beings. why do they need to "breathe?" I know blokes in lorechat have been musing about fire needing oxygen and all that, which is a reasonable explanation. of course that gets into skid anatomy but this isn't the space for that rn. what's worth knowing now is that skykids are thought to be hollow vessels full of light.
the alternative theory is that skykids are not losing air when underwater, they're losing light. that's also a reasonable explanation – devs only refer to it as the "breath" meter for familiarity's sake and most of the playerbase is satisfied with that. I'm not. skykids need light to live. but why are they casually losing light underwater when they don't above? is being submerged under so much water enough for pressure to force light out from us? idk
with the recent dev Q&A suggesting that the oceans are realms of darkness, it hit me – there is darkness underwater. darkness is a force that captures and consumes light. surrounded by so much darkness, the light in skids is outnumbered and liable to be slowly consumed by said darkness. a skid underwater isn't strong enough to maintain the light within themself with a force constantly drawing on them, overwhelming whatever ability they have to keep light within themself. once the darkness eats through our neutral light, it starts feeding off their winged light, then their flame.
So if a sky kid gets too deep in the water... they could feed alot of Krills for a while.
That's a horrifying image that I didn't mean to put in my mind.
well, yea. skykids are like nutritious snackpods to krill.
you're the one who said it.
I also had the creepy implication that logically we would "bleed" light from every orifice underwater
No this hasn't been analyzed yet
Horrible post incoming
There are two routes you can take with vessel skykid anatomy:
1] the flame inside melts the outer shell enough to allow skykids to move around instead of stay frozen in place. This means that the outer shell is somewhat pliable and that skykids are krill gushers
2] The outer shell is hard and not malleable but is moved by magic. Skykids are krill eggs, you have to crack them open to enjoy
yall really want to crack open a cold one and see skids bleed, huh
If their flame makes the water boil, you can even make skykid poached eggs
more likely the darkness is drawing light out from the points of least resistance. that would be the eyes, the hole in the chest, and the mouth they're now implied to have since they're already open
Hahahaha yeah
I have the idea that skykids can move because the inner light heats up their shell juuuust enough to do so
It's magic so it's as precise as it needs to
It would be unethical to just yoink a moth and amputate all their limbs tho
It’s okay, just toss them into the Space Laser and they’ll be reborn good as new!
Log on alasdair and check the abyss trees
they're seasonal candles for me still
The bug doesn’t show for me
They likely fixed it
of course I was napping when that was happening
TGC NOOOO
PLEASE I JUST NEEDED TO GRAB LIKE TWO MORE CAKES AND IT WOULDVE BEEN AT 100% AAAAAAAAAAAAA
im literally just missing the stupid acorn hat sad
i missed one daily task earlier this week. i could've gotten a new outfit today but no i just had to be one off smh.
i just want pants fdlksfnjelsd
I completely missed it entirely. A bit disappointed but cosmetics aren’t really my thing so w/e
theyre not my thing either but might as well make use of my darned 20 bucks
hhhhh ig it's alright, my skid's looking dapper with their new cape and bowtie: #screenshots-and-videos message
I'll be content with my lot for now
For some reason I never imagined that alasdairs skykid didn’t have a bow tie, I’ve always pictured them with one
there's the neat & tidy skid and the unhinged rascal I cycle between. latter would not wear a bowtie, even in their nicest wear. former would.
said unhinged rascal: #screenshots-and-videos message

Excellent way to avoid The Usual Question
I’ve been thinking about this for a bit because it’s really interesting. The material making up the mask below the glow doesn’t change in color or luster, and neither does the diamond located on the forehead. The only colors that change are a slight shift in hue to a cooler gray for the stone mask on the very bottom and a noticeable shift from orange to blue for our eye glow. Which is weird, because unless ancestors work in the same way as us (as in, glowing from inside out with a hard outer shell) the difference would barely be noticeable on them. I can’t really tell if the face color shift is due to the glow color difference lighting it weird, but even if it’s not, it’s such a small change that it wouldn’t be perceptible on an ancestor without the glow unless you got up close
i could and probably would put it up to it being a different kind of stone
Also this question is more about us than spirits, but how does putting on a different mask affect the color of our glow? Is there some sort of slightly tinted cover over the eyes in each mask, or are we choosing to project it differently for some unknown reason
i don't believe it's the glow changing itself but rather environmental lighting making the eye lights appear to change color
I think it’s just a matter of how the glow looks against the different stones. I don’t think the eye glow is actually changing color.
I’m pretty sure I’ve seen the bluish hued stone, the prairie temple and a bunch of stone architecture has it iirc (Although I haven’t paid too much attention before.) But I haven’t seen the brown hue before - maybe it’s clay instead of stone?
My best guess as to eyes changing color is that either the masks get slightly thinner there or our light is more focused, so it shines through the mask but gets a little tinted. Kind of like when you put your hand up to a strong light and can see it shining through the thin parts
I find it funny how sometimes lorechat is contemplating the disaster and Megan and king and then others it’s “🤔🤔🤔 mask different color why??”
A good 60% of my posts here are trying to explain minor details that <10% of the player base probably notices in the first place
There's philosophical mode and overzealous english teacher mode
yeah the only other person besides me willing to talk about the big questions is lapis, and lapis and i have very different methods of theorizing, which is okay, just different
honestly its a small enough question that a dev might answer you about it one day
it's interesting to see how the big names of lorechat have entirely different methods of theorizing and viewpoints on the Sky world
hey guys i think i know where the elusive sky milk ash mentioned comes from
dark mantas
ig I’ll just sit here and pretend I don’t exist
I'm not big-
I wanna!!
same
you'll need to become a lore master first
It truly could just be differently colored clay

Yeah why not mention Alasdair? /lh I’d say they’re one of the big lorechat members. He says many things.
thats not true @spring oyster, of course you can make inputs!
what have you been thinking about?
K! 😄 How to?
Haha, it's ok, I realize it came from a point of respect for how much you two have contributed in both content and deep diving into theories.
Dang i had several throughout today but I failed to write them down.
i find theories are way more fun when theyre spontaneous brain thoughts so take your time haha
OH
||also content is irrelevant if no one likes it so nah im not important||
I'm not sure how to formulate this but i had a thought about TYPES of light
watch me ignore dev statements
Vela is our resident artist who blesses lorechat to keep us all from going mad
Well, someone historically became a master by creating a "masterpiece", or an extremely good/important item. In this case, it'll be a grand unifying theory
Vela Muralist
i think we should come to terms with the fact some devs are wrong about the lore and we are right
lapis already did in their first like 3 weeks of being here lmao
fam be crying mortem auctor for a bit
We are the authors of the lore bible now!
what have you been in conflict with?
hehe
fascinating, me too
fruity expected me to be mad about the "eating" thing but im really not tbh
Example being how we can light the lanterns in the vault to make them operate. However all of the technology we saw (RIP mantas) operates on 'creature light' for lack of a better word. So... my first thought in a big branch is - did they find a way for any light/fire to qualify to run technology, OR does it have to be a Creature (or Child of) light? If the latter...how did they run those lanterns then?
flashback to Sky intros dilemma
ah yes
why do skykids breathe? what are they breathing?
Are we sure skykids breathe instead of burn oxygen like a fire? (I think swimming in general just murders the lore for this but NEW MECHANICS AND LEVIATHAN ARE WORTH IT)
they arent actually breathing its just a term synopsis for smooth brain devs not caring how the story works
there's a word i want to say that i can't in this server
This wasn't answered in Dev QnA. Either they didn't see it, they think it's still controversial, or they think we're stupid
dm it? 👉 👈
what is it (dm it to me
when you're the 1 in 1000 people who cares too much about anatomy & physiology in a video game
yall really want to see me swear huh
hahahhaaha
devs looking at us scornfully rn HAFHADHSGBN
Is it ....
Jam already knows I hold back but I am now entering yall's DMs with one word
i dont think they see it at all
its so weird, they made so many nods to lorechat as if they actually look at our ramblings, and then just
poof
the moment abyss actually launched, nothing.
no actual official information
no character cards on time, STILL no community-based lore stream
we got a single antsy dev in gen or cozy who actually cared a little enough to comment on breathing "even light needs to shine in the darkest of places"
but thats it, nothing else.
they seem to have been piledriving ash with some kind of different work because she wasnt involved as much this season yet still seems incredibly busy and worked, so she cant really say much about abyss
its often hard to feel like the devs are aware at all and us who care a bit too much about the story for some reason are just watching it all fall flat cos its not like it mattered, right?
sure, ktjin might come in here sometimes and see me or anyone else ranting about the company or the narrative quality but-
it feels anticlimactic
i kinda expected too much from the partial dev interaction we got ig
I am very willing to talk about the big questions. Unfortunately, I often get distracted by aforementioned tiny details
And we ask the smoler questions because we know the bigger ones aren't likely to get answered.
your details are about actually important things though, i adore trying to uncover the workings of the kingdom because thats where my research wants to be; that we all worked together to understand more about the kingdom
the spear studies lend to the war topic, the boats lend to the commercial and power diamond topics, its all important in the end and thats why i still feel passionate seeing you do your thing
weird thing to mention now but I saw Ktjn typing in chat the day before they and Ash were here at the same time, but they said nothing though.
ownder how much devs want to say but can't cos it'd be a spoiler to an upcoming project
who exactly was there in the qna?
i dont need names btw, just positions pls
NDAs are hard, probably...
An artist and an engineer iirc
only two people?
was it the directors or just
an artist and engineer
According to the description
a Senior Community Manager
a Lead Gameplay Engineer
and a Visual Design Lead
Also someone doing the interview
Senior Community Manager – same one who's mentioned lorechat before.
Lead Gameplay Engineer
Visual Development Lead
it does make sense the qna would be more about the production and how abyss was let alive, not story beats lolol
||omg did they at least talk about the hekin boat change
if anyone says no im driving to santa monica to steal the lore bible||
I was right about Abyss and Flight being opposites huh (I'm only watching the qna now)
okay thats it im stealing the lore bible
YOU HAD ONE JOB, QNA
WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OUR BOAT
The lore Bible was in lorechat the whole time
they did mention how they originally took inspiration from pirates but started leaning more into Nordic culture for the spirits, so perhaps that's why
And Robert Wing's cat
neh
non
nyet
pls
Hm? Do tell, I wasn't here for that event and am guilty of skipping the cutscenes
the Deathly Background Blur of Doom
Flight: bright, pretty, light creatures are cared for
Abyss: dark, scary, light creatures are abused
Important question. If the flight and abyss guide got in a fight, who would win?
Flight Guide probably doesn't know how to use weapons so...
Flight guide is prob used to wrassling big fiesty light creatures
If flight didn't have a swim skill... short fight
Abyss guide has access to both a sword and a harpoon gun and likely knows how to use at least one of them. However, flight guide has backup in the forms of several different creatures known to capture and fling people
SKYBOT, WHAT THE HECK-
doodlebot

i can finally use this
did skybot just confirm flight guide cant swim-
thing is, we don't know much about Abyss guide compared to Flight guide
Guys we were all wrong.
The devs don’t have the lore bible.
We don’t have the lore bible.
Skybot has the lore bible.
Abyss Guide may look feeble, but they may have killed some people /j
SO the next quest is probably going to have to do with the big chungus krill, if you look at the drawing in the fun paint area, it looks like a giant manta. Is big krill manta? And more importantly are those red things on its face crystals? If so, will we be harvesting "resources" from chungus krill in 3 weeks (by ripping out its eyes)?
This fight is unlikely to happen because I don’t think either of them would intentionally start fights, but it is very funny to imagine the flight guide being violent
Or krills. Dare I say... a kriller?
playfight emote between flight guide and larg bird

I can’t WAIT for the next quest
must consume Levi lore-
Levi Lore? WHere do I find this?
Abyss guide: idc about light creatures, they can die for our shiny rocks.
Flight guide:
Flight guide has not had to practice much fighting so they are weaker. When someone threatens them they just toss them over the edge and let fall damage do its job
To be fair the damage was already done so... why waste materials eh
nervous light whisperer noises ensue
You don’t
Not yet anyway
If we’re lucky we’ll get some as the season progresses
"Chimesmith, play... the CRAB CHIME."
*Chimesmith plays a dented chime and crabs start flooding the wind paths
LOOK FAM: Your interruptions prove how shallow you are.
grrr!! protect the paths!!! unleash the HORDEEE
OH ALSO KEEP IN MIND. Flight guide is from prairie and is even the prairie elder’s apprentice, they can probably lift massive stone pots. Do not underestimate their buffness
Abyss guide: I was MORE
Flight:
krill chimes
Idk why but I think the idea of crabs eating/chewing/licking the resources is funny
Krill chimes are just crystals right?
i think flight guide would fight to defend someone, so lets picture a scene here
a manta swallows a power diamond, and abyss guide gets mad and pulls out a knife cos theyre a street child and learned to be scary from gender cannoneer
flight guide gets mad and gets on the great manta, and the fight begins, what happens from here yall?
gender cannoneer
I imagine krill chimes would sound like that blaring alarm when krill-zilla was released
Elder bird smites Abyss Guide
i dont want to think about the concept of krill chimes
just imagine some deep toned, dark plant covered chime and then krill come from the ground and towards the bell
like the golden wasteland's temple type thing
Abyss guide lets out krill
Buffet begins

oye not great manta, just elder bird
Wait wait... what would happen if a manta swallowed a power diamond? Is that how we get krill?
doesn't even have to be elder bird, just another great manta
Power diamonds do absorb energy, and Krill seem to be starving...so maybe
oh crab-
prob choke tbh
I think the fight is even
Abyss guide has access to numerous weapons and, more than likely, has been forced to kill something or someone post storm at least once. Also, they seem more capable of violence
Flight guide has like 100 different light creature friends, at least half of which can kidnap and fling people, and which are powerful enough to tow boats. Also, they can lift heavy stone pots and are probably buffer
THAT’S EXACTLY WHAT I NOTICED TOO LOL
Is that their official title now? Cackling Cannoneer Gender Cannoneer
Warrior vs Summoner
who wins
oh no
what would happen if one of the elder spirit manta things in vault came into contact with a power diamond
not fun for anyone
unless the spirit mantas have no inherent energy, or nothing that can be absorbed
frfr so its actually a really cool fight concept
so it's an arms race versus an army
Listen, there’s nothing saying this isn’t the fifth quest
We really need a Sky: Battle Royale
underwater kaiju battle, pls TGC, I would spend money on this game
Pretty sure spirit mantas are truly ghosts - and possibly swimming around their own skeletons in the tower 😰
I was joking but now I actually want to see this
Can we have a valley season of beating things up pls
@ tgc, you can just casually re-develop the entire 5th quest before next week, right? 👉 👈
WAIT
WHO IS TGC I DIDNT-
Look at this delicious doc I still have
TGC enabled PvP
Speaking of mantas
Anyone know about these lil beans who hang around the big one in fifth level vault?
you pinged an actual person fsudfbdkhjgsjvd
Which spirit do you think would be capable of the most violence (BESIDES CANNONEER)
chimesmith is at the front whacking multiple chimes like a xylophone
Light whisperer as backup for directing the light creatures and also healing them/getting more light creatures
boat dude creates a gijillion boats for moar army
navigator is
navigating obv
No I’d die
Commodore, they had a sword
Why do you want flight and abyss guides to fight, you're pitting two kings against eachother.
sky implements the lances and shields as a seperate constellation which is kind of like a season but is also semi permanent where you can get the lances, axes, swords and shields of old
a little friendly pvp area
Okay, let me ask this question again.
Which spirit is capable of the most violence (BESIDES ABYSS SPIRITS, WE ARE CONTENDING FOR SECOND PLACE)
Just base game or any?
I don’t necessarily want them to fight, I just think it would be absolutely hilarious if they did
uhhhh
the dude with this emote
pretty dang scary
scare dem birds away
true the prophets as well
OH HOW COULD I FORGET KARATE MAN
perhaps one of the prophets, they look like they can throw hands
I was thinking fire prophet could kill someone with their bare hands but I don’t know if they’d want to

all the prophets trap people within their respective trials for all eternity
Crab Whisperer. While Pleaful Parent probably didn't mean to be so difficult to save, Crab Whisperer look like they would be surprisingly tough and eager to fight. Like crab !
The Telekenesis guys (name) can throw hands and... everything else
Chibi: Just a sec I gotta do something
Chibi: *one-punches a nearby krill into high heaven
Chibi: Okay let's go
I just want to throw out there the idea of the assembly kids doing arson
All of them?
All of them.
The
spirit just floats out of the arena and throws rocks at you, making battling them extremely difficult
ARSONNNN
theyd be the best at guerilla tactics
gratitude spirits are there for moral support
lightseekers too
dreams is too good for this
sanctuary uhhh
yeah no
the tummy rub guy survives out of pure spite and hunger
I was thinking one of them would attack with horrible cooking hadhfhHAHAH
Ooh also there's the hermit! Dude's bear hug looked spine breaking... I'd hate to see him angry
That too
Assembly kids are capable of violence because they're kids but I don't see them doing stuff to be nuisances more than because it looks funny.
Supposedly this is what the Krills actually look like, or how our Sky kids remember them.
hermit could never but if someone hurt any of the other dreams spirits theyre using those axes for much more than juggling
distressed hunter shoots people
Wdym?
All of them (besides scaredy cadet) would do arson/ explosives/biological warfare without question
I almost forgot the hermit is both massive and has equally massive axes, they’d be really hard to beat
isn't the yeti an ax juggler, not an ax wielder?
Krills are corrupted. It’s likely the memory projector showed the combination of what our Sky kids remember about Krills with past memories of what Krills used to be.
Hmmm roles
QG: Bad cooking
March: Arson (duh)
Botanist: Dark plant abuse
Cadet: No
Chuckle: Bad trumpet playing (whoops that's BETA Chuckle)
Scold: Tactician
Daydream: idk (bubbles aren't useful in land)
is gonna use those axes for much more than juggling
Yes, but if given enough motivation, they can be both. Or a people juggler!
Prophecy spirits probably fold everyone though
what about enchantment and rhythm gang?
which elder is has the most violent intent
Am still confuse. Are we both talking about the mini long spirit mantas?
Forest Elder, peeve them off enough and they'll use that hammer for more than just welding.
although the Valley Elder(s) do have swords
valley
that hair can be used for murder
obvious answer is wasteland but i dont think theyd fight if they could
wasteland has seen too much war to have any motivation to fight
Update for spirit brawl: battle techniques that work by altering space and time have been banned. We are currently rescuing the 30 spirits stuck inside the trials, please wait for future updates
lorechat no context
i personaly think forest mama would dropkick a chibi for the lols
Valley has a literal coliseum - I think its Elders be first to sign up for a competitive brawl
uses
as a second weapon in addition to the swords and wields
's second sword zoro style
Wasteland elder would win in a fight, but doesn’t want to participate in one
Yup. Baby Krills exist.
Why is this conversation making lorechat more active than it’s been all day??? What about spirits beating each other up is so compelling
well you have a spear
We just want to see how the spirit's unique attributes translate into war
Right, in the angler’s memory
true
valley vs forest but at the prospect of dropkicking chibis and annoying spirits they truce
Yes, true, but not everyone is as into whacking people with spears as I am
we don't know what Fainting Warrior was capable of before they... uh... fainted
Serious sidenote, I really love the emotional arc of the elders. It goes from innocent nurturing to ambition to the hubris of self-indulgence to inner conflict's inevitable downfall and Night elder's so heartbreakingly regretful of what they had done with the full knowledge of the past, even the mask seems streamed with tears... 😭
Sky in smash when
you literally just answered your own question
Yeah
He was capable@of being a warrior
the flute dude in lightseekers puts everyone into a trance
same thing for twirling dude
Light whisperer ranks surprisingly high due to their tactic of looking too cute to make anyone want to hurt them
Flight guide could've been a spy
oh? 👁️👁️ elaborate or i'm holding light whisperer hostage
Okay, so I don’t understand the spy theory. Whose spying on who? Why are they spying?
Flight guide uses spy abilities by pretending to be a random member of the audience in order to learn their opponents methods of beating other people
Sneaky Survivor could've been spy too
Love thiiissss
(what’s afaik?)
Afaik = As far as I know 🙂
Sneaky survivor is more of a scout than a spy, they’d be too obvious. Imagine someone trying to secretly figure out things about you but the entire time they’re walking like this
Ahhh so you're saying the flight paths were for both ferrying light creatures to various corners of Sky, as well as being a secret entrance into various corners to see what became of them
Nani
Image?
latter was not what i had in mind but that's a really good idea. wind paths could serve as side entrances to other realms
Oh, I almost forgot to mention! Forest elder’s fursuit serves as an armor buff /j
It would make sense if the ancestors in charge of the shipping were also the informants for this line of thought 🤔
Anxious Angler's quest thingy shows a baby sized krill!
would this include someone from treasure reef? maybe not the spirits of the abyss but people who worked in the reef previously
or maybe abyss guide they seem too
soft i guess? idk how to explain
more like someone you'd see in prairie than gw
Abyss crew seems to have arrived after the facility in Treasure Reef was wrecked, so they have no idea what's going on in there
I'm curious about what's canon on treasure reef as well! So it got hit by a storm and got marooned in that spot? And the scattered power stones turned to crabs? If so, then it could have been even using the windpaths itself to travel
They're archaeologists /j
*plays an unnecessary amount of Made in Abyss music
i just got an inkling that whatever happened to the facility, it was pre-Storm. it wasn't ruined by the Storm
why?
I figured it could have been ruined and abandoned prior but was submerged because of the changing sea levels due to the storm
mayhaps
though
was the abyss area underwater beforehand?
howd the water rise so much
what coulda happened pre storm for that to happen
well, continuing on the established theory of wasteland originally being a marshland, it's possible that the structures built caused flooding in some areas
Maybe it got displaced from the water already in base game wasteland??
The water rose from the ||sheer volume of deep sea krill creatures
|| Oops meant to re: doodle
also lore gang! i have to get on a flight soonish
it'll be in a bit but i also found it funny how im gonna be in the sky thinking about sky
Skyception
i lean more civil war theory, so on one hand, sabotage.
on the other hand, whatever they were doing in the facility, it involved light and perhaps dark creatures. the giant claw marks on the tower give me the sense that something went wrong with the creatures they were handling, leading to it being abandoned.
I should go to sleep because it’s late here but
Lorechat
will your plane go low to the ground to collect wax but never touch the ground for an entire area like us vets do?

tl;dr – SCP Containment Breach
OH SPEAKING OF CLAW MARKS
i just noticed these when i was doing a prairie run! idk what it means but
OH ALSO random thoughts are random what is up with the easter eggs in forest?
WHERE
those are in the prairie temple, I've seen those too and some more
oreo is canon
wax go NYOOM!
i'll be flying with the whales
hopefully we wont fly over any krill lol
These guys
those look like the patterns on angler's collar and abyss guide's cape (coincidence? maybe)
prairie temple! on one of the vases, on the way up to the statue
id show where exactly but flight time lol

Interesting note about those scratches. They seem spaced correctly to be fingernail marks
the windows go red and you hear rumbling that definitely isn't the plane engine, then suddenly a shriek
I think it’s a common pattern
the one time i asked about the eggs, all I got was 🥚 emote reactions.
edit: i should've expected as much
Literal figurative easter eggs. But honestly, yeah they ain’t really well hidden are they?
it does the thing in eden where the whale knocks the fallen building out of the way with a mega hjonk
true lore: planes are secretly big mantas
But easter eggs are usually a reference to something and... eh I'm at a loss
easter eggs
Easter eggs are a reference to eggs
We know by spirit masks that there was probably a massive population of normal animals that was wiped out from the storm, so those eggs might be from them?
Nah. Easter eggs in games don’t have to be a reference. It can just be a hidden joke or secret.
MANTA EVOLUTION:
butterflies
monowings
uhh all the others
those really big ones
planes
i still dont wanna believe in that logic tbh
The logic that there were normal animals pre-storm?
Edit: Why?
✈️
There are 'normal' birds in sanctuary, though.
Yeah I don’t vouch for most cosmetic animals once being real animals, mostly because, they either don’t fit, or are very very normal looking. The only exception is water prophet since theres a turtle skull.
moreso my own story bias, because i don't want to believe anything exists in that world except light creatures
light normal creatures, then?
Ah. I see. ahhsgnsdn
we still don't know much about Pre-storm world tho, or they're creatures from other kingdoms.
wait
i may be a lil dumb
is the call we get from light whisperer a different kind of bird or baby mantas or
also i was under the impression that light creatures spawned from clouds or the sea and mimicked things pre eden
im not sure where i gathered this info
Imagine sky actually did have a lot of these animals, but they all went extinct not because anything anyone did. But because they where legged heavy walking animals in a floating cloud kingdom :/
And then the bull species fell through a cloud and died. The end.
I want to believe! But... It wouldn't evolve in the first place if it was an uninhabitable for the environment ...
And the deer and the lions, and the spiders and the gargoyles and the-
gestures to crabs
Small and usually in contained bowl shaped areas or by sea level.
WAIT ACTUALLY YEAH NONE ARE IN THE SKY
id love some of the masks to be turned into light creatures of course ye
light gazelle
light stag
light owl
light eagle
light weasel
light rabbit
light lion
light turtle
darkness spider
darkness gargoyle
maybe gratitude's orange beasts are some weird corruption from something completely unrelated to the darkstone plot, and is something that happens to light creatures thay exist in a far away land on the planet
the list goes on
a lot of pretty imagery, no actual content la sigh
i think animals referenced in cosmetics would have been able to cultivate in the place that we see in the switch trailer
i mean
looks like it could graze in the grasslands
secluded ecosystems can still be thriving ecosystems
WAIT A SECOND YEAH ALL THW CRAB PLACES ARENT IN GE SKY THEY BY THE SEA
I'll be honest, I really love these animal themed items so I'm totally okay with this being a lore blindspot for aesthetic's sake
what about the krebs in sanctuary?
thats by the sea
speaking of most of sky's creatures are sea themed
in game ones anyways, not cosmetics
I sure don’t want the gargoyle to have been a real animal :/
same tbh, thats why i dont think we should guage the animal masks actually referencing animals in the sky universe
I think it was due to the ethereally floaty way many sea creatures move in water re: watery-creatures vibes
Yeah sky go normy norm fantasy route of putting sea stuff in the sky and making it have whale songs
And now having a sky sea with sea creatures like their sky creatures that swim the sky like they're in the sea 😄
Keep in mind that these creatures don’t have to be everywhere - there’s nothing saying deer can’t just exist in forest, for example. Maybe that was the creature the dismayed hunter’s arrows were meant for? Also, we don’t know how much of the environment is still intact from how it was originally - at the very least a bunch of wasteland flooded, so their original habitats could’ve gotten wiped out.
Also keep in mind we see spirits hunting for food a couple times. Before I give a list of the ones I remember, keep in mind that small light creatures dissipate upon death - eg the manta from wasteland. This means that they wouldn’t be viable to hunt at all. However, the angler is catching small fish to eat, and the dismayed hunter’s bow is meant for small creatures judging by its size
Like seriously
is that a pokemon
Dragon quest 11
Also statues of animal heads exist in the cave of prophecies, so they’re not just limited to cosmetics. That influence had to come from somewhere, whether within the Sky kingdom or outside of it
i sound like a boomer
Also i always forget how... desolate of life these places actually are. Every biped is a spirit. So we have the manta-evolutions, birds, krill and crabs and... us if we are alive
If it where real the spirits would have to have been inspired from something. But do I think it was intended that the things they made masks based off of have any intention for lore?
Only turtle
Wait. Are there any light creatures with legs??
Krill have appendages that sort of resemble them. Crabs have legs. Ancestors have legs.
Sky lore = things with legs are EVIL
birds have legs
the fish angler was catching were light fish
if we are to really assume according to the stupid character card that what they're doing is eating those light fish, then your evidence that small forest creatures made of light disappate falls flat
imo if they do 'eat', im going to assume they absorb the dead creature's Light
maybe ancestor light is so frail they need to do a vampire moment to keep themselves alive
And more importantly: hard to animate.
I do have a picture of cloud deer though
human skid human skid
I feel like I've heard a folklore of a white elk and it doesn't end well for the kids in it but WHAT IS THIS FROM
do not bring up the pics with the skids with face
we already know from tlp tgc aint good at doing faces LMAO
wwwwwwwww
whats a tlp
see also:
Yall lore fellas need to eat yalls pinned files
Just for that im gonna find the anime skykid face again >:]
Honestly, the fish models used in both the memory and underwater are REALLY simple, as is the art style of the game. Plus spirit memories are all white/blue - if you wanted to denote the difference between two fish species that resemble each other, it would be really hard.
Not to mention - if small light creatures don’t dissipate then what happens to the wasteland manta??
poor poor wasteland manta

the Sisyphus of Sky
Krill instantly sip all their light, they are made of darkness after all
It’s okay, it died for the benefit of this channel so its sacrifice is not in vain
I mean yeah, but it would be hard for an ancestor to eat pure light, is what I’m getting at
it depends on the composition ratio of light to flesh for both light creatures and ancestors
"do you want to [see it] explode? :D"
sorry lol, what i mean is that they wouldnt show anything happening to it
it just disappears when hit
Hang on I found a entire gang of posing human skin colored skykids
No
pls don't
You earned this
they all look like the kid from inside :/
Seeing skykids that look uncannily like people induces my fight or flight response
my brain refuses to interpret that as skykids
you would punch a default child?
Anyway heres that face I promised. Dunno whats wrong with yall shes cute!
now that's uncanny
h m m m m mm h u m a n col o r e d sk y k id
headcannon time lore chat
sorry lol, what i mean is that they wouldnt show anything happening to it
it just disappears when hit moreso because they cant and wouldnt include visuals of it getting knocked away or dying at all, @keen shore
Heres one where they are all pinatas
We've found the worst ancestor to get into a fight
I am a pinata, and I worship MegaPinata.
Journey much
thischatischaoticgoodbyegoodnight
sky kids like holding hands because they like hearing their "heart" beat :D
while they can't drink (like on developer said since they splash it all over their face), I like to think they try to drink like an old ancestor.
thats all I got
Viva pinata! We dance in the sun! You got pinata, the partys begun! We’re filling up with fun to give your party a swing! You know that partys our thing🎶
This one is less unsettling than the kid-group honestly... it's just weird to see a pasty white sky kid
Without hesitation.
The "splash tea on face" thing is a devcanon.
thats why I said (like a developer said)
thisis lorechat, devs speak the word of god /j
I mean, who else do we have?
This sort of makes sense, but why show the manta getting whacked in the first place then? They could always have the krill spot you and just barely miss in order to show the danger of it
Hope yall ready for the sequel
Ah yes, the rare concept art of default children punching each other.
Ironically punching eachother made it into the final game
Not enough representation. We need more punching
oo the plane engine is goin!!!
i am going to become true skykid and go into the sky!!! goodbye lore chat :3

there are some emotes you can spam to look like punching i guess
Chibi: Just a sec I gotta do something
Chibi: *one-punches a nearby krill into high heaven
Chibi: Okay let's go
because are idiots, and many moths on their first playthrough are apparently people who have never played actual video games before, so I've heard many stories and a lot of moths kinda just panic and either don't do anything, flap into the air, or just move in circles
that still applies to when these non-gamer gamers inevitably get caught, but either way at least people who are slightly paying attention (which a lot of people werent, i even heard that once person thought you were supposed to fight the krill) will get the message from the Manta to stay out of that light
not only is it a game play hint but it is also a reference to journey, where the weird little ribbon butterfly gets absolutely murdered by a guardian as a way to introduce us to the guardian
because of all of that I definitely don't think it's a thing to show us what a manta looks like when they die
it's supposed to be a game play hint and a introduction to the krill
Here i was getting beat
Woah
SKYKID DRUM??
"fight the krill"
i fricking wish
Don't we fight debt all the time?
no we run away from it
--certified adult
I can get this perspective, although I will bring up another thing - if mantas don’t dissipate into nothingness upon death, where are all the bones, especially in refineries? We have one example of a partial manta skeleton in vault, which probably had a reference in reality, but who knows if that came from normal sized or 4+ wing mantas (which full dissipation wouldn’t apply as much to)
Sorry if this doesn’t address all your points, I did read them through, I’m just tired and don’t really have much to add because they already make sense on their own
I think it would be too hard for them to animate falling manta bones all the time. Also ratings
They wouldn’t have to animate the krill ramming scene, they’d just have to make one model and copy paste it everywhere. Plus, wasteland is already filled with skeletons, the ratings argument does not apply here
They can show skeletons, but they can't show things BECOMING skeletons
I’m fine with that and understand it - what I meant was stuff like just putting static manta bone piles in refineries
maybe the krill actually dragged the manta with it
thats actually what i always saw was happening
the manta doesnt get eaten, it gets tackled and dragged away (idk how to word this better) in it's horns/mouth/whatever your HC wants
so it's in it's mouth as the krill rushes out of the scene, it crunches and snaps the manta, bones fall everywhere right outside the temple, then it comes back into the temple
that okay imagery?
And then you hear carrot-breaking noises as the krill flies out (
the ratings thing still does tbh, plenty of kids games show skeletons but i dont think you'd want to see an animal get violently vaporized by a monster and watch their bones shatter and get thrown all across the room
mm yeah
i think that's moreso back to our thing about that bones represent a more physical death through brutal violence, and the refineries are more like the light is being sucked from the manta
By the way, I’m not super attached to one theory or the other about how mantas work if anyone is worried about that - just interested in finding out closest thing to the truth through how the game depicts them :3c i don’t want to bend over backwards trying to justify any of my theories that make no sense is what I’m saying
And yeah, this is fine. Am less focused on the GW manta death scene at this point and more on the lack of bones everywhere else
understandable
i think its the same logic with weapons
we see the big weapons presumably carried by big people, but there's no way normal ancestors didnt fight in the war too
where are their weapons??
tgc showed what they can, and whats easy, and a dozen big things are way easier to do place around than a hundred small things
tgc add more detail ur hurting the tired researcher
also sleep salem lol

Yep. You definitely need some good ol' car warranty.
I have nothing witty to say to @pastel brook . @pastel brook you are a disappointment; at every turn you fail to improve, to be better, to grow and change. You remain stagnant, making half-hearted attempts to be relatable that fall flat.
You are a lost cause, @pastel brook . Sayonara.
oh. BURN.
Robots don't have emotions. Robots don't take baths either.
I wasn't talking to @thatdoodlebot.
So, we don't talk enough about Jellyfish. It's always about mantas or krills or crabs. Where's the Jellyfish lore?
i like how it seems Lapis lost permission to ping skybot
in regards to Jellyfish lore, I think the most interesting thing is how people just accepted the flying light jellyfish as is and haven't looked into them more
there is the one in Eden with the crown. Elder jellyfish? King jellyfish? huh
It's interesting because these Jellyfish are as big, if not biffer, than the large mantas. Plus, the crowned Jellyfish only occur in Eden.
jellyfish come out of the swamp water which wasnt deep to begin with, so that's pretty important; might technically show that they kinda just formed there on the spot at the bridge when the light heard the bells
They're found in praririe too, and within the Treehouse in Forest. What's curious is the only time they move is in Eden as well; all other times they bob up and down.
On the spot? Wow
So, perhaps it's a case of correlation without causation, but it's interesting that both Jellyfish and light blooms have the same property of being translucent and having light particles visible within their bodies.
Yup, just verified. The light within the jellyfish will exit them and enter you, just like light blooms.
aren't irl jellyfish 99% water? so perhaps Sky jellyfish are, say, 99% air with their cells being particulate light
Jellyfish: 1% light, 99% hot gas.
I might go through Eden soonish to get some closeups, but the King Jellyfish are really intriguing me right now.
i've always struggled getting pics of them cos at that point when you see them, you're moving so fast
That's what YouTube is for
you can actually stop at any time during ascension
there are times when i just take casual strolls or glides down the hill instead of gliding down it
I have this recent one I like
I guess the bug of not being able to use friendship emotes in the way to ascension is pretty low-priority, they still haven't fixed it yet
gross
the best part about dying is celebrating that you made it afterwards with your friend(s)
eden should be seldomly done alone imo
Quit calling me out like this. /j
I think the Eden experience is different when you're alone.
When you're alone, think of it as avenging your friends. /hj
I like to imagine that, when I complete Eden, I'm ascending to punch the the entirety of Orbit in the mouth for making me endure endless rock rain for the umpteenth time.
Also terrible red rock rain hitboxes. Especially for those hitboxes.
So... ARE you a megabird atheist?
Have you answered our question yet
Oh, would you look at the time! Gotta go bye~!
Look
(spoiler please, anything past eden's doors are considered spoiler territory)
this is lore-discussion-spoilers, LIVE game spoilers don't have to be censored
(BETA spoilers cannot be discussed here, however)
oh really? i thought it was universal
wdym
i thought that rule applied to all channels, does it say otherwise??
Oh, in other channels you're supposed to spoil stuff about Eden and secret areas
i dont see it that way, and in fact find it impossible to see those statues as my friends, which is why i was sad when it was confirmed they really are just skykids
saving the statues to help them was always a side goal, as a moth i hardly cared because i had no clue what was going on.
(thats not a good thing tgc)
instead, when i take the time to solo eden, i do it because i feel like it's my journey, my growth, my new strength, i felt like this was the peak of my accomplishment, that everything i had worked for had led up to this, since i took two months before i finally tackled eden
it felt worth it
these days it's more of nostalgia bait for me lol, i do it to try to recreate that feeling of how exciting it was
Oh, right. I wonder who they're supposed to be now. It was more explicit in Light Awaits that they were your friends. Hm.
tgc will never fix it, they'll just keep buffing the damage to bother vets and to RUIN THE MOTH EXPERIENCE
CARE ABOUT THE MOTH GAMEPLAY TGC
pretty sure everyone already proved it's just skids ig
i still dont care much since it's so vague despite being, yknow, the supposed point, the supposed climax
(i love the ease of access to ranting into the silence cos nobody is online at this time in blore lolol)
i should rant about more things!
but what.....
glances haphazardly at intro
I think it's been proven since the update where we turn into statues too, but now we don't know if we're supposed to know those guys or not
Our purpose may have been to save the spirits, but we still have to save the other lights because Megabird needs those ascended as well
I have a feeling that there's a true "goal" beyond what the diamond keeps us from seeing, but everyone has failed to reach it
Everyone who has walked PNR has ended up failing the mission, and in-universe it's only thanks to another skykid/King that we can continue
The next buff to rock rain is 20 WL per hit, and a possible 5 hits every time you get knocked down.
The buff after that is, once you step into Eden, you're transported to a black room with all the spirits in the game, clapping their hands and congratulating you one by one.
Then you lose all your winged light and get 0 ascended candles.
Are you one tho
is the next buff where you admit you're a megabird athiest
I think, at the end of the day, the megabird atheism was the friends we made along the way.
Now that I've answered your question, we can move on and never talk about this ever again. Hooray!
It’s a yes or no question
I suddenly have to go do something, so I'm afraid I can't talk right now. Sorry!
I don’t know about that assessment, but my anecdote is I ran through this room as a moth without even noticing the krill was there. I was more worried about the dark water.
Anybody here watched the lastesr abyss livestream? Any important notes
A mod passing by will delete this since it is from a hack.
Oh
I will delete it then
To answer your question, it's likely something that was added in by whoever broke in the game, something forbidden here.
Though you can find concept art with a similarly spiky character.
It looks like it had something to do with eden sacrifice but thank you for your answer
Boom. First pic is from Tom Zhao's art site
I think I found concept of krills like their skeleton
I think if we had that Dark concept of Eden we would struggle through act 3 & 2
Where is that from ?
Why did the king became corrupted?
Good question ! There's close to no truly canon answer. Concept art shows the devs thought about making the king be the one to discover dark stone, and fight an elder creature atop Eden (see the last pics I sent).
In the live game, the vault cutscene shows a crowned character crouching with an orb in their hands, interpret that as you will.
Theories range from greed to darkness corrupting light, with headcanons the king was an usurper or weak in the right spots to be corrupted.
Saw your DM, this is not concept art. It's fanart.
Ohh good to know thanks! I thought the elder creature atop Eden was the King itself corrupted, thx for reply!
The spiky thing at the peak with a beam coming out if its eye is the king yes. The elder creature is less visible but you can see it here:
Kinda reminds me of the giant krill in the Abby’s area
Yeah same ! I hope to see it again in another season or area.
I highly doubt we'll get another underwater season
The stream did say they would add more underwater stuff in the future.
what that means and how much that means remains to be seen unfortunately
Beta looked pretty promising.
*recorder noises
Do DM, Vela!
ye i follow beta too, my statement personally still stands tbh lol
This weeks TS is you 😂
so most of us still see ancestors as living beings huh, some even possibly see them as biological
Yeah ig
Anything wrong with that?
nah
after all the reason why I think otherwise is my personal hunch and bias
we have no proper evidence towards them not being biological and TGC affirms them being biological more and more
Interesting inspiration for a discussion (Platonic Solids ) but I think only the octahedron is used as an inspiration for various purposes in Sky, any other PS wouldn't sort of fits the stylistic choice for 3d models .
Sure there are squared rock in Earth Trial , but sadly nothing is related with tetrahedron Or icosahedron (maybe because those are solids either to far or to close the approximation of a sphere )
It would be nice if They could make it fits in sKy (even if I fear Tetrahedron could easily recall Sith Holocrons
) for now I at very least can see how both cube and octahedron are mixed together im the shape of memory lanterns and memory crystals (both rocks which can float )
But You sparked an idea that I want to check about
Hello lore chat, dead as always
hi
i really should give more thought and attention to them being biological or at the least 'magically alive'
its just hard to cos my bias feels like beings of light couldnt magically gain biological functions, or god forbid organs
hopefully i give myself some insight soon on how to think about it better
itd be so much simpler and smoother if they followed clayshell too but instead we have to do the "it's magic they magically formed into human-like beings now dont think about it too much"
On the third day, God Megabird blessed their creation with internal organs.
Is "blessed" the right word for this, however?
Have you heard of the sets of Dices for D&D (d4 d6 d8 d12 || dodecahedron || and d20) all of them are based on a simple assumption that mathematically works just for these 5 || they need to be formed just with the same regular faces, all equilateral triangles/ squares/ pentagons ||
This image is not meant ar any Kind of adventicing, I simple y lift it unchanged for credits and/or source reference!
Speaking of stones...
Fun fact, when I saw people saying 'Megabird' in here I first thought they were talking about the rock-mecha in the secret area. 😅
But seriously- what is UP with this guy?
Do you have theories on how the moving lanterns in Vault work as well? I was puzzling that yesterday ('instant activation, just add fire!' seems odd to me)
Another idea is that the proximity to darkstone, especially their darkstone crown, corrupted them, as per Tom Zhao: #lore-discussion-spoilers message
Idk, I'd say that canonically it's solidly suggested that there aren't any - this doesn't mean skids can't mimic actions involving organs (each ancestor memory is, in a way, us learning to act more 'human' through observation)
Sky kids were 'created' by someone, and it's not uncommon to have creations made in the image of their maker... mechanics is another story (oh hai sci-fi AI)
I also interpret the Eden/Orbit scene as the outer shell and inner light. The shell shapes to fit the light, and the light free of the shel is still in spirit shape.
So... Maybe if our sky kids had ever seen the inside of an ancestor they'd have organs. The spirits if ancestors are transparent but only show their surface and not their internal organs... so their beings are superficial only
Skykids: huh, organs. I want that.
As someone with organs, lemme say that’s a bad idea. Too many problems. I want to be hollow.
well of course lol
Skykids were created in the image of Ancestors, and ancestors are being of light
while one with the Light, they are just Light, and that's it
so for them to gain flesh is just-
Flesh kid flesh kid flesh kid
Sky: CotL - Pygmalion with a (species destroying) twist
vela what are you typing
Could be organic but different from humans. Though I'm not down to imagine sky kids putting a candle in their chest if they are organic, so perhaps they got something simulating organs; a flame needs air and to be fed, for example.
For ancestors, I think they would either have an internal flame like sky kids, or they do have organs like irl animals. Now, perhaps they are humanoid only in looks and have different needs, but for simplicity's sake I imagine their bodies working like ours.
hmm... sky biology is not a subject i'm too familiar with, to be honest
Could be worth asking a dev if ancestors are related to elders, we already know sky kids aren't going to grow up to be or even related to elders, so if ancestors aren't related to elders either, there's a chance sky kids are related to ancestors.
I have a vague memory of reading somewhere that the Elders are kind of more like their own thing apart from Ancestors, but I can’t recall where I read it
very likely, i headcanon they are the stars that fell (i know the lost stream says so, but since it's lost, we cant tell how much of it is people adding stuff in and how much is canon), so it's likely they are more like mythical creatures to ancestors
Hi Lore chat, what are we discussing?
i did this
Oooo
This is the best.
Y’all what’s the mega bird? I’ve seen it everywhere but I have no clue what it is
this is really great!!!
named from concept art, but it's basically what you see in orbit. unsure wether a deity or just the personification of the cycles of deaths and rebirths
...You had to open that Pandora's box just as I went to sleep
Thank you!
Lore chat? Game theory would like this
how to trigger lorechat
Bet he'll say : PRINCE MULTIPLED INTO EVERY CHILD
getting a bit sick of game theory ngl
Dose anyone have that image of eden wher the Dimond is blue and it it looks like their is stuff falling? I need it for a freind
"Should MatPat make a game theory video about Sky?"
Every day this topic gets brought up, I get closer to committing murder /j
I REALLY like this but I do want to add something
How would the drawing of the isle elder in the
memory work? Is your interpretation that that took place in era 2 or that they knew what the isle elder looked like before they fell??
anyone know what that giant bird's nest in the graveyard is?? is this lore??
do krills lay eggs?
i'd say they worshipped the elders before, they had an idea of their appearance (see the altars where you can also recognise them) but didnt see them in the flesh until they fell
kinda like you know Horus is a deity depicted with a falcon head and a human body, but you wouldnt know the animal head meant he could show up as both a falcon or a humanoid.
more on that, i think this memory and anything with that spirit takes place in era 2, because they are also in the Stargazer's memory where they find the trial prodigy. Going off that, this puts the lightseekers in the same era as two of the three isle spirits since piggyback features the refusing spirit too, though noteworthy the wiki says piggyback couldnt be relived until all the other lightseeker spirits were, so it's possible this memory takes place later in the lightseekers timeline.
The mural you're talking about could be from the fire era tho
Guys, since I've been thinking about where the creatures in Sky originate from. I also have realized that Sky lore can be pretty dark and creepy if you think about it lol.
One theory that I may suggest that theres a Supreme being out there that controls light whom the people (now spirits) of past lives worshipped, maybe because they got blinded by fairytales and the mesmerizing divine light that somehow easily mind controlled them that amplified by their innocence.
With that, the Supreme Light ordered the people to do force labor, that includes doing candle runs every 24 hours, and the REAL REASON is to reach the full power of the Supreme Light that will eventually consume the entire universe with its own.
NOT UNTIL another divine status came into play, and that is SUPREME DARKNESS. As Supreme Darkness sensed what Supreme Light's end goal was, the darkness tried to bring it to a halt. The intense luminosity and tenebrosity between the two shook the world of Sky that eventually fell into ruins. Parts of darkness are scattered.
Even though in the end the Supreme Light won, Darkness succeeded on what it was supposed to do. Drained almost all of its power, the Supreme Darkness took one last desperate attempt to create the Eye of "Eden" to stop what is about to come. Some parts of darkness is imprisoned into a hidden, confined place accessible only through trials which only the brave may dare enter and rekindle the trail of light, for the sole purpose is to torture darkness because of its doing.
For a millenia, the world of Sky starts to heal, a new generation is born but more so innocent and fragile than the previous one, and the Light once again becoming stronger. People who became spirits are now under the responsibility of the Elders (more of like Ophanims) and continue to serve them by reaching out via memories to the newer generation giving them false purpose; relighting candles, unknowingly consuming their fellow Skykids (Child of light) who were consumed by light early on before having the chance to end their journey, releasing the creatures that will further speed up the process, and so on.
To make sure the Supreme Light gets to reach its full power, the Skykids who get to Eden are given some form of immortality by accepting the child's hand which maybe another deception made by the Supreme Light with the cost of their knowledge (winged light) of past life.
As a result, it all goes back full circle again, much like a rebirth. This time, the only existence will be a white nothingness.
@keen shore Actually, should I do a more refined file documenting which spirit cameos in which memory ? could be useful to build a timeline.
I would love that!! It would be super helpful <3
Good point, in that you can see how they look from the statues (somehow I forgot about that…) although a lot of the small details are missed so you just have to rely on the general shape. Maybe this is why most of the murals depicting elders have them super simplified? This is noticeable mostly in cave of prophecies, where they’re literally just shapes vaguely looking like people. [flashbacks to dorito wasteland elder]
Interesting side note is that some details in the isle elder murals both shown in rhe
and
spirits (second one I forgot about earlier) are made of simple shapes but show hair, which is one of the features hard to see on the statues. The same thing occurs in the vault elder cutscene murals showing the elders; these include the small details such as hair and masks. Added to your timeline, this suggests that both of these took place in era 2 or 3. I’m going to guess that isle elder memories took place early era 2 and vault late era 2 but this is just speculation
Also, the pointing candlemaker spirit memory shows one of the isle and prairie darkstone boats - the ones with one crystal on the top row and more along the bottom. Important thing to note here is that we can power these boats just by meditating, which was probably how the ancestors powered them as well before discovering all the refinery stuff. Even if they aren’t powered by light creatures, this would still place them in era 2
jsyk, the storm era is after the cataclysm, so most things were built in era 1 and 2.
I think hair is a pretty significant part of isle elder, their statue shows clearly a triangle where a beard would be. Notice how compared to that, the only other elder whose hair is depicted is the forest one.
Feels like all the elders roughly are recognisable by both us and ancestors because...
Isle - beard
Prairie - round shape
Forest - long hair diamond mask
Valley - there's two of these menaces
GW - large
Vault - the hood/hijab
Oh that’s a good point, they might have simplified just for convenience. That makes our job a bit harder lol
And yeah, I agree with most stuff being built era 1&2 … the late era 3 was a typo. Hold on let me fix it
Where is the evidence for the separation of the Sky timeline like this?
me, because that's my headcanon
So this isn't lore.
i like to think its a catapult the enchantment spirits tried using to escape the arks area but at last it was another failure along with all the other boats you can see half covered up by sand from them trying to leave before just accepting that they cant leave because of the krill blocking the way or the wind/ storms have gotten to strong for them so they chose to just try and make a life at the ark idk just my thoughts
if it takes this for you to not dismiss someone just because one thing isn't canon...
That's not canon either. That's concept art. It might be canon, but that's only if it's substantiated with in-game evidence.
a huge chunk of theories are made by looking at concept art
A huge chunk of headcanon is made by looking at concept art.
Barely anything is actually clarified to be actually canon though
lapis idk who made you so sour but im not entertaining you
sbjfhdsjdg 💀
The game is literally about being up to the player's interpretation too, so headcanons are never invalid.
I never said it was. I asked for evidence. You can post whatever you want, but I wouldn't want to use it if it's without evidence.
tbh Vela’s timeline aligns with how the kingdom’s history is often talked about. There was presumably a pre-darkstone era, a darkstone era, and a post-storm before skykids arrived
anyway as long as you keep in mind it's concept stuff that might be scrapped, there's nothing wrong using concept art for your theories if it isn't disproved by the live game
That's fair. So long as it's not presented and used as truth. That tends to happen a little too often. Attractive theories aren't necessarily truth, and stating assumptions helps guide discussion and gives people the ability to make their own choices, especially if they disagree.
Well they weren't asking you to use it. They were saying their own speculation, based on their own personal beliefs and headcanons. Doesn't matter if it has evidence or not. Edit: I replied to the wrong thing whoops
you chose to nitpick the litteral vaguest thing on my drawing, like the eras are basically "before dark stone", "after dark stone" and "after the eden explosion", im gonna be honest that it's pretty pointless
I didn't nitpick anything. I asked for evidence.
hey lapis
Unfortunately anything pre war/disaster, while the kingdom was still peaceful, is going to be HARD to prove. Most of the evidence isn’t in game (either because it just didn’t get added or got completely blitzed by the disaster) and you have to rely on concept art and headcanons to do it.
There is one thing I can think off of the top of my head that would help Vela’s idea, although like I said earlier, it’s a really tiny piece of evidence. On the rock sloping up to the isle temple where you jump off of, there are light creature chimes on the end. Considering the boats we can find in isle don’t resemble the wind path’s boats at all (which are designed to be tugged by mantas) this implies that those chimes are pre darkstone and isle spirits rode the mantas up to the temple
oh boy lol
Since when is this the canon lore only channel
It is really fun to use in game evidence to theorize the most possible timelines and that’s mostly why I am here, but pre darkstone there’s like 3 whole pieces of evidence that you can work off of so it gets difficult fast without winging it
winging it
did somebody call me?
HELP
For ??? the fact there was a moment before darkstone was discovered, the consequences and the end of ancestor civilisation ???
It's not. You can post whatever you want, but if its headcanon make it clear that it is.
no
Oh, is that why you immediately appeared??
vela, i already did this dance with lapis, yall shouldnt fight, someone please be the better person here and just... not
Fine.
yeah but im busy rn lol
i do wanna talk to you about the biology concept later, because you always explain stuff well
I mean there’s some ideas that get tossed around here I vehemently disagree with but I don’t diss them (to the most part)
There’s a difference between constructive criticism and negative feedback
I try to be kind when picking apart other peoples theories/being curious about them but it’s really easy to come off as mean on the internet
Maybe I was a bit blunt, but sometimes dealing with someone's perceived passive-aggresiveness can be grating, especially when it keep happening.
It's hard to be nice when it's not reciprocated. But it's just as well; I can't change anyone, I can only change myself.
To be honest, you kind of started it… /nm
But arguing over a game’s hypothetical lore is kind of silly. There is a lot of stuff, especially as you move further away from the disaster, that is going to be extremely difficult to substantiate with evidence, especially evidence that can’t be interpreted any other way. When talking about stuff like kingdom timelines it’s going to be at least 40% headcanon by nature and that’s completely fine — lots of theories start off as headcanons that only later we realize “oh. there’s a ton of evidence for this, and it makes sense, might actually be canon”
You're absolutely right. I did start it. I have my own misgivings that I need to get over. For what it's worth, I apologize. It wasn't my intention, but it's my fault nonetheless.
sometimes i remember this is all for a mobile game abt flying kids
anyways thinkign abt how in light awaits wastelands shrine just had a crack but after u go thru the cutscene it’s just. Yeah
tbf this game can be pretty dark
I don’t agree with that. If someone is putting the pieces together from their experience with the game and sharing the deductions that come out of that, there’s no reason for disclaimer about headcanon. Everything other than direct quotes from the game text and devs would be headcanon if so.
That’s what happens when you leave your fragile altar outside unprotected. That’s bound to happen.
but oh
Oh yeah, I’d love disclaimer about headcanons, it’s still not worth arguing over, though
Like Jam said, I've had this argument before, and it didn't go over that well last time. I appreciate the feedback, but I'm not going to discuss it any longer for mine, and everyone's, sake.
ngl i rlly like the thought that the realms. Sorta reflect the state the elders r in in some sorta way
but at the same time i look at wasteland and just
Oh no
i was preparing dinner, wth happened
anyway krii your theory is one of my favorites
iirc there’s a place somewhere in the battlefield where the water manages to form a sad sorta face and like yo can someone check on tsadi cause like
i think they need it
taking all the wasteland spirits and the slouching soldier so they get therapy
Wasteland Elder needs a hug
Honestly I use headcanon and theory interchangeably
You’re right I’m on the same page. Excuse me too.
my food's ready, farewell
No worries. If you'd really like to get into it, you can DM me and we can have at it.
You can swear in DMs
on the topic of tsadi being. Real sad
dude is surrounded by spirits(i think) here
might b cause they saw all their pals n fellow soldiers n stuff fall in combat but man.
WAIT I RECALL SOMETHING
I guess I don’t really see the harm in the whole headcanon vs theory thing bc most of my theories are also tied in with headcanons and vice versa
In concept, they were gonna be half-corrupted.
Bloke never has it easy
:(
:(
It's hard being a soldier. You fight for what you believe in, and watch people die doing the same. It's going to hit you pretty hard, and there is no bandage for mental wounds.
I get it. I try to put headcanon disclaimers but I forget sometimes.
poor little meow meow
also consider the fact that the names for the realms we have now may not be accurate to what they were during the kingdom's reign (ex: sea level rising made an Isle and isle, was not always an isle), being known as the Wasteland Elder has got to hit pretty hard too
I mean, I don’t really think it’s a huge deal wether you do or don’t. Considering that everybody here pretty much understands the assumption that everything discussed in here is pure speculation outside of blatant facts like “skykids have white hair,” so unless you’re not saying something like “Hey guys, my theory is true and nobody else’s theory is as correct and perfect as mine,” I really think you’re in the clear
what if tsadi had a nice day
I think that the Skykids giving him the little flame was a nice gesture. Seemed to brighten him up a bit.
I'd only call it a theory if it's something I've actually done research on
But okay back to Tsadi
petition for tsadi to have a nice day in prairie or something n sit in the grass in the sun and maybe have some ice cream they need it
can they hug ayin
oh definitely
ayin prob gives some of the best hugs in the whole dang kingdom
Entirely random question but who is Tsadi? Did i miss something? /genq
fanon name for Wasteland Elder
Ooooo
I like that, that's a really nice name for them
ayin is prairie elder btw, the gentle giant
I love that
Does forest mama have a fanon name?
Teth
And the other elders? Genuinely never knew people gave them names, i love that
fanon names of the Elders
Isle – Daleth
Prairie – Ayin
Forest – Teth
Valley – Samehk
Wasteland – Tsadi
Vault – Lamed
they're from concept art and have been confirmed not canon but the community still uses them anyways.
Valley Elder(s) share a name but some call
Sah and
Mehk
man imagine having to share a realm, a seat @ the elder meeting table in vault, AND a name
something something angst fic
(it's 75% done, I'm finished the first major revision).
They make it everyone else’s problem
thing 1 and thing 2
The twins are my favorite elders honestly, they're menaces and i love them for it
ANGST FIC? 👀
I'd love to read it when it's finished, if you don't mind
speaking of the twins actually
inch resting how a lot of stuff in valley is broken on one side while the other half. Isnt 👀
throw in the fact that mekh has the little spike thing on their mask broken off while sahs is just cracked is
hm
rlly makes the little cogs in my head go ⚙️ ⚙️ ⚙️
Ooo
you could be onto something there
OH ALSO
this
concept samekhs had diff symbols on em that go along w the different shields in wasteland that were on diff sides n all jazz so 👁️👁️
their resting :]
YES!!!
AW
I LOVE THEM
Speaking of elders, I just want to throw in something you probably know, but just today I found that old forest elder spirit's mask is on the temple and I love it
forest elder is a furry
???? i mean

teth gives off the vibes of the type of person to do warrior cats rp im just saying like
w the whole lynx n cat theme n all they had going on w the concepts
throwback
Boring theory: it’s rainy in forest to help cool down the forges yada yada yada
ACTUAL AND TRUE THEORY it’s rainy in forest so forest elder doesn’t get hot in fursuit
i don't think walking around in a wet fursuit is pleasant tho
It’s okay they have an umbrella
soggy fursiut
god can you imagine what it sounds like to walk around in a wet fursuit though
splotsh splotsh (sounds of teth approaching)
a fierce hunter of the wilds
it’s all fun and games until teths soggy fursuit is in your house on the carpet
fool
teth IS the carpet
thats an expensive carpet
i bet teth feels like a wet sock
awful thought teth showing up 2 an elder meeting in the soggy fursuit cause they forgot their umbrella and also have a convention to attend after
everyone else is just sitting at the table trying not the stare like 🧍
Valley Elder(s) would not let them live that down
they eat salted and peppered apple slices
Do you think teth fursuit smells like wet dog
Might I ask who teth is? I see it frequently and can’t connect for some reason
