It's not dead, it's just rarely-used.
Unless sitting alone with Jam is your thing
that KP is 1000 years old
oh
kay
i don't get it
me neither
Me either.

wh-
don't ask me jam I don't follow the law
"darkstone is a special resource that seems to suck up light and then emulate some kind of power, making it useful for all sorts of machines
the prince discovered it and the kingdom started mining it so they could use it for all sorts of devices
darkstone, when refined, creates power diamonds
power diamonds can make things float, hold things together, move large objects, and most mysteriously, either project illusions, or tap into the minds of ancestors and skykids"
anything else to add to that about them?
utility wise, not necessarily corruption wise
Crabs are often found near the golden containers, which in turn are often found near power diamonds.
Speaking of which, can I join it too?
I have a theory.
Would the prophecy trails force skykids to be more human?
As in they cannot fly, or rely on winged light to take damage, and overcome challenges without flying or losing their light.
Even if the water trail did exist before skykids were able to dive (season of Abyss), the water during the first trail can take our light. It is not dark water, and yet it takes our light instantly.
The earth trial is a labyrinth, not a maze. While there are dead ends, there is one correct path to the centre and any dead ends are minor setbacks.
A skykid would have been able to fly over the walls, but the trails forces skykids to climb over obstacles.
The air trail is the most infuriating, in my opinion. as this trail lets skykids fly iver large gaps, but have little to no control of their flight. On the one hand it could be partly an in game issue with how the wind can cause skykids to overshoot or miss their landings. Though the trail does teach skykids to remain determined enough to keep trying.
The fire trail feels like it hits home.
The darkness that a skykid must delve into is a theme they also fsce in Eden. With their light as fragile as ever, they must find their way in this dsrkened maze. Especially with the third area has ways to loop on itself, causes skykids to keep moving or be taken out by the shadows, and light a way for others to safely make it to the end.
I wonder if the ancestors had a similar experience with the trails, wether these trails are powered by darkstone and what haopened to the students.
I am sure they have perished according to the murals, although we do not see any remains in the trails. Not even a statue.
Trials were not designed for Sky Kids, that's why.
Ash confirms the dead Ancestors in the clouds are people who tried the Trial and failed (died).
Wait when did Ash confirm that those ancestors specifically DIED?
I don't know that they have.
The murals in the cave of prophecy shows 2 ancestors laying down in each trail. In the spirit memories of the prophets, we see 2 students for every prophet.
So the prophecy mural even predicted the amount of students. Nice.
edit: why is this the epiphany I come to
yes, 8 students in total, where it looks like none of them made it.
Unless there is a way to track them down, us skykids may never know who these spirits were and what they did.
While each spirit we have saved had an emote, stance or call. I do wonder if we would run into spirits that would instead offer something else in the future.
they are sleeping ||(yeah, she did not outright said they DIED, but given by how the Prince just walks past them, it's pretty much certain they are dead)||
ancestors that went AFK during the trials
That is interesting.
Were those murals the only ones to depict ancestors lying down like that (as in deceased)?
The murals at the start of Dawn shows spirits kneeling and looking down, which is similar to how the spirit statues look.
While skykids in the game are simply taken to the last checkpoint when they fail. Would it be canon to the lore that skykids are meant to succeed at the trail on their first try?
I believe there are a few dead in... mural about Eden?
Does Ash not know if they're supposed to be dead, or is it an NDA thing? (probably the former, imagine if your NDA said "thou shalt not confirm any possible deaths depicted in murals.")
The game does not talk about death directly, otherwise it would change its PG rating. You'll never see someone "die" in Sky. (and also make it illegal in China)
Oh the one in Vault?
Where we see all of the elders, and the Eden one last.
AUEGHHHHH
(speaking of which, why DOES tgc want to keep it PG? Why not just raise the rating?)
||This is a Joke||
Dying is illegal. End of story.
Dying is punishable by death in tgc headquarters!
Less people playing. Less people hooked. Less people using the In Game Shop. I just bought the Adventure Pass, it was like $20? Sky iirc has 6 million concurrent players, if 10% of them buys Season passes, it's a fortune.
Business.
Do 10% of them buy season passes? I wonder if they can release these numbers. Also, Sky costs a fortune to keep running as well
au i see
Perhaps it is to ensure the game is appropriate for as many players as it can.
While that ensure players are able to connect with anyone, no matter their ethnic, religion, and where they are. It does include some limitations.
Which includes homosexuality, explicit content, death and so on.
The fact that skykids are able to go to eden and beyond must have been a stress point. Since it is vital to the story, but is a intense moment in the game.
I'm not sure, if they have public investors, they probably do presentations on that. Blizzard and FromSoftware do. (often how people get previews of the lore)
Imagine investing your stocks in tgc
*trumpet noise
Ahhhhh... good thing Megabird gave us respawns, or else the prophets would start up the prophecy again and pit us against each other for a new king!
bitcandles
I'm trying to find an image, internet is slow rn.
But I might be mixing it up with that cut Eden mural. That used to turn red.
Sky NFTS š
The red one is an old mural. I believe to have the images you are referring to.
Mothcoin
waxbucks
the list goes on.
Unfortunately not just in your imagination!
Iāve heard of Sky music being sold as NFTS, I hope thatās the extent of it
Not just that
One of the best Sky picrews I know died and now it's an NFT!
Okay enough back to the usual lore
The blue is in the game. I dont have the image with the ancestors underneath. Though they are kneeling and praying.
the other one is darker, though has the mural of skykids lying down, with one left standing and facing the king
where's the red one from
Light Awaits.
An early version of the game, back in its closed beta in 2018-2019
oh my goodness it's so edgy
||I'm aware, that's why I called it cut Eden mural. heheh||
Lol, at least the book on the statue made it to the game XD
I believe it now serves as the book an unnamed spirit is holding in the apologetic lumber jack and crying light miner's memories.
are there books in live vault?
There is a very big stack of them in the starry desert,
Through they only have pictures, that the sneezing geographer reveals.
How about in Main Vault?
0 books (that I know of).
There are only memory cubes.
There is concept art that reveals the name.
TGC MEMORY CUBE OPENING LICENSE WHEN
WE DONT EVEN HAVE BOATING LICENSES
Does anyone know if there is actual script in the game? Like what the ancestors written language looked like?
For example, are the patterns on the levitating adept's headpiece script or is that just decoration?
Hm. Let me get the language docs for you.
Okay. Here's one for Vault. Also bonus image.

Thank you!
I'm like 7 hours late to this but I also gotta point out that Valley also seems to have a theme of the separation of social classes based on wealth (village of dreams and citadel being for the poor and the wealthy respectively if I remember correctly)
Which further helps the comparison to the 20s as that era was also known for it's deep social inequality and classism
Gender caused the downfall of Ancestor civilization
Grandma is the real villain of Sky
Tis a concept art. Such a dark time indeed.
there is also that Sky-Gender theory me and Lapis worked out when we first met here. LOL
Note how there aren't Male&Female Warrior, but just "Warrior" lol.
Labor, Intellectual and Warrior are also genders LOL
elders are their own gender confirmed
Since the Sky Kids display their ability to be truly Gender-fluid. Maybe the Ancestors are too.
you know what's weird: in my language, the spirits are labeled with a gender. Like "Tired female dockworker".
Maybe male and female weren't exactly genders as we know then but rather just roles in society that ancestors were able to fulfill if they wanted! Like a job!
So gendered spirits are canon. Might have been a miscommunication between old team and new team. It's more likely that the spirits are just "sexless" and genderfluid.
now what they do... we have no idea of knowing
we can also say "Male" and "Female" are approximation translations to Human Speech
Are they labeled with a gender or is your language just inherently gendered? (Like, all nouns are binarily gendered?)
Like Americano and Americana
Yeah that's what I'm saying
I speak Spanish lmao so all spirits are gendered š
Yes, it's because the language is inherently gendered. Saying just "dockworker" would make them male per default. So some spirits have the female version of "dockworker"
Sadly there is no english pendant to the exact word to explain it better
Oh PLEASE what word did I say that got censored?? I just wanted to talk about constructed gender neutral nouns in Spanish and how cool it would be if they were used in the Spanish translation (which I use)
:o
Ah, espaƱol is such a wondrous and strange language. But even still, Iāve only ever heard of āelā and āla.ā What else is there?
We ask everyone to please post only in English on this server, @sharp lichen. Unfortunately, moderators and staff aren't able to support all the languages spoken by our global Sky family.
You are a menace to existence!
Technically, anything else is "not Spanish" since it isn't officially recognized by anyone, there's only el/o and la/a
However, some groups lately have been trying to push the idea of a third, gender neutral pronoun: le/e
Obviously the majority didn't like it but I hope in future decades it'll gain more traction and legitimacy
Does the āƱā trigger you?
neutral nouns here in Latin America is seen as just another form of American / European Imperialism, even by LGBT+ community. ||it's only a small minority of "Americanized" elite that advocates for it|| but it's beyond the point in lore lel
That's only for "latinxs"/the "x", while le/e is something Latino feminist and queer movements came up with
You only ever see foreigners using the "x", not the "e"
That implies that all unemployed people are genderless uh
Ha! Found it
šµš¹ Estivador cansado - Exhausted Dock Worker
It's Male in Portuguese. And Female in...
This would settle it, if the same spirit has different genders in different languages
...This is why we need a more gender neutral language
"male" is the gender neutral, as crabs said. Like how in Portuguese the Hide-n-Seek spirit is "male". Implying they were originally going to just call everyone male - aka "neutral".
And that's kind of an issue with our language, but I suppose this is not the best chat to discuss politics
so they randomised it for the binary languages. kinda cool
gender apocalypse was averted
Lumberjack is male in french but keep in mind that technically the devs said the spirits are conceived as genderless so people can imagine whatever, no word on them being agender, so TGC using foreign gender neutral pronouns that are still neopronouns is highly unlikely.
Overall this is my current final thought on genders:
"Labor, Intellectual and Warrior are also genders LOL"
"Male and Female might be just job descriptions"
"we can also say "Male" and "Female" are approximation translations to Human Speech"
but we'll never see what the Male/Female jobs are to avoid gender stereotypes lol
Personally pretty eh at the notion of associating gender with a job instead of identity. Feels a bit diminishing.
that's true, should have worded it a little better. it's more of an "aesthetic", because iirc we see those "genders" performing tasks outside their scope iirc. Like Civillian warriors (Scout for example) or Intellectual/Civillian warriors (Soldier).
Not to mention the whole Seasonal spirits.
I'm not sure I understand what you mean.
Courageous Soldier does not conform to the Warrior aesthetic (gender). Meaning, while they are a Soldier, their gender is not a Warrior-gender. But rather, a Civillian-gender.
Labor, Warrior, Intellectual, Civillian, etc are just approximation words, because there isn't words in human speech for those different genders. So we picked the closest thing to it.
Similar to how Europeans used to call "Samurai" as "Knights", until eventually people just started using the Japanese word, because the approximation-translation wasn't cutting it.
So you mean that gender = base model type (
and
got the same base model for example) and their job is their title (
and the Courageous Soldier you showed are both seemingly in the military) ?
Basically, yeah, like if we replace "Labor, Warrior, etc" for A, B, C, D, E; then we could say "So and so are B-gender".
I have a question r the elders dead?
I only see these as body types tbh so... agree to disagree.
There's only one gender in sky and it's mine, I'm not sharing
I'd say so yes. For one their altars have the same appearance as the graves of other spirits.
Further "spirit" is just another word for "ghost", and this is how it is used, as in, the acestors are dead. (as explained by the devs here)
And finally, some ancestors have been referred to as "spirits" by devs here in the Discord.
Confirming they are dead like everyone else.
Or the Elders never had bodies to begin with. They might have always been spirits, and only communicated with ancestors via astral projection through meditation.
Or there was. You need to pay your tab, so Iām repossessing your gender.
mmm, gender
You'll never take me alive!
Fine with me.
No one needed to know mine was a hoax! Whyād you have to reveal that??!! /j
true, true
You are a god among men. Thank you
this conversation went into politics, which is a place we aren't going in this server, so I'm going to clean up some of this talk. Please help us keep IRL politics out of this server. As for gender, I think it's best if we leave debate on the topic. Players can decide for themselves, and we don't have to agree. Imagining a "gender economy" sounds to me like it has tones of transphobia. Gender identity isn't a choice any one of us ever made, and living with an identity that doesn't conform to gender norms can be extremely painful and difficult.
Iām not one to argue with mods, however I think thereās a misunderstanding here. A lot of us here are trans or queer in some way. Itās common in genderqueer circles to make absurdist jokes about gender, especially since gender is a social construct, which the āgender economyā bit falls into. We know that being forced to abide by gender roles we donāt align into hurts.
100% what alasdair said. but if there was a misunderstanding, I can agree with the removal of certain messages, if there is this possibility of misunderstanding. last thing we'd want is to scare a potential new member due to misunderstandings.
As for lore: I personally dislike the idea of associating vocation with identity. Vocation or one's role in society is a choice anyone should be able to make (and I don't imagine a caste system in Sky), so mixing that with identity feels harmful.
@frigid tinsel I agree with all of what you say and in a public chat where we can't know the full experience and intent of everyone involved, sometimes it's up to moderators to set clear boundaries. To me "gender economy" feels like an absurdist idea that could easily fall into arguments or abusive comments.
Granted I just got to the bottom of 200 messages and so if there were messages I didnāt see in time before they were deleted then I canāt speak for those.
that's exactly the issue: people pop in and out of conversations, and when context is missing for some, it may get really difficult to understand whether an absurdist turn in logic lead chat to a fun place, or whether people are imaging ways to control or limit expressions of gender identity
Iām going to do the opposite and backread. Iād rather have context so I can understand the full scope.
This is admittedly a fair, if uncomfortable, point. It only takes one bad actor to disrupt a group dynamic, and providing avenues for those bad actors to do so makes it easier for them and harder for us.
It really does require proactive thought and action to create a safe space for expression, and some of the decisions will not jive well with more lighthearted targets, but itās overall a small price to pay for that safety.
Weāll find something else to joke about. We always do
Does this mean we can't talk about gender in Sky? Of course not! But the idea of gender as currency or commodity struck a nerve for me
I feel like this gender economy discussion would fare much better in a private server, where thereās less of a way for lore moffs to come in and join to misunderstand whatās going on. Unfortunately, thereās not much lore servers right now
A "moth" is a new player. They have brown wings, they flap around uncontrollably, and they are drawn to flame!
The whole thing seemed like a joke. a joke I was tired of
A āskybotā is an annoying user. They have a purple name, they spout out random sentences uncontrollably, and they are drawn to stupidity!
Does anyone know where this is from or if itās an official map?
Season of Flight interview - NetEase in 2021-10-13
https://sky.163.com/news/strategy/20211013/29298_978351.htmlAshley Coad is ours truly "Ash".
@odd pagoda
So this is like an official map of the kingdom?
Yes, but likely prone to change, for now it's the official map.
i just want to know what that cloud creature with long wiggly legs is doing and why it's stepping on all the realms
it's another inside joke Lapis blessed us with. The more arms a creature has, the more powerful.
maybe it's playing Sky Twister: "Left second abdominal pleopod pink!"
ash only confirms that they failed
she didn't confirm they died, but we can argue that it looked like she was staying they died without actually saying it due to not being allowed to
i mean, we meditate to enter the trials so i doubt just how physical they are
yeah, I said that a few messages after the one your replied to heh š
i wish there was full 100%er gameplay of LA anywhere.
any murals or story beats we intake from it could help our cause a lot depending on how accurate it still is
So perhaps a faded memory of what the trails would have looked like?
Sometimes it is needed to remember we are skykids. We cannot read, cannot speak english or recreate past memories exactly.
And this is based on the lack of ingame text (hints and meta text dont count), skykids make sounds, not words, and skykids see a man falls down in pain (from a heart attack or injured supposedly) and they take it as fainting.
Same thing goes to the lightminer.
||skykids will literally set up a dining table near a "fainting" ancestor memory and talk about the weather||
Chat mechanic implies Skids can talk, granted they can establish a "mental connection"
no they arent really canon, it's just visual diversity to show different types of visually different characters
the male may look male and the female may look female but that doesnt have to define them in any way besides a visual distinction
because it's a social construct however, and you and i and everyone visually make that distinction between the visual male and visual female, ig we automatically see the gender
...
tbh using other languages besides english won't help our work, especially in terms of looking for pronouns
vela and i have tried, in the end it's just lackluster translations however the translator they paid to do it saw fit
TGC is american english at its core, so yeah
Jam, you are replying to old messages
It's better if you read the whole development first.
i mean there is a caste system: the concept art this discussion is based off shows a caste society with different roles with different visual models taking up each role lol
well no, I'm more referring to the Mindspace theory; if we meditated in a small empty cave and suddenly woke up in a completely different place, i doubt that we actually somehow teleported into the artic or freezing floating islands or a maze or giant shadowy ball in space
ngl nothing really happened since that discussion
What would yall consider most obscure info?
Megabird, and King
Golden Wasteland / Vault lore is likely more obscure
ive considered that question a lot but never really had an answer
obscure info that we have and is important but no one thinks about?
or obscure info we need and is important but we'll seemingly never have enough evidence for an answer?
the timeline of the King's life is extremely obscure, and we dont know exactly when everything happened, but ive been getting a lot closer to gleaning the important significant events in his life, and even possibly his intentions
and what the megabird is is becoming more and more agreed upon
How many kids could a skykid kid if a skykid could kid kids?
oh yeah the civil war is certainly obscure for sure
we still know zilch
so much evidence we've tried to drain out of everywhere, we've seen so many points, so many images and arguments, and it has all lead nowhere so far
Obscure like trivia the least amount is likely to know. Not as much whats 100% canon. Stuff like concept art or beta stuff counts too.
oh so little things
yeah, civil war is certainly one of the theories to be discussed when talking about GW/Vault.
But I mean how the Vault is within the GW city, and how the Vault/Eden holds altars for all 7 elders.
This by itself makes these places extremely lore relevant and mysterious.
So a pipeline for me would be:
- Light creatures power.
- Butterfly Jars.
- Power Crystals.
- Dark Stone.
- Eden Disaster.
- Megabird.
- King.
- Golden Wasteland lore.
- Elders Lore. (Cave of Prophecy, Eden, etc)
yep!
I didn't think about benches originally, but your explanation is perfect.
i am willing to accept this as canon
There used to be plans for a part of the wasteland to have an area near the foot of the mountain, with a carving of the megabird going up the side of it, throigh the clouds.
That and the creature that I like to call the eel (credit to Vela for the auggestion), that we see in the abyss area (the long one that leaves behind a trail of bubbles). It used to be in Light Awaits and was as big (if not bigger) than the whale.
There used to be Journey travelers early on in the game, though was removed not long thereafter.
Those are the most obscure details I know about the game.
Had the journey traveler, remember the mega mountain,
Do you have a picture of the eel? Was it concept art or in model?
Ok so small question what is the whale I keep seeing it mentioned
Both.
I will send some in a few minutes
@nimble ingot do you believe the trials are physical and real?
im hoping there's better arguments for those theories than the ones ive heard
Actually it might be an even larger creature come to think of it.
the big one in Sanctuary @rapid arrow
no unfortunately, even though visually the sanctuary creature is a literal whale, the Coelacanth (

) is canonically called the whale
the creature in sanctuary is simply known as the Elder, so i just call it the elder sanct creature
The whale, thatās the one in the cave thing in the golden wasteland right?
Its also canonically called king tuna and fish :/
yes, and it's also seen in the underground cave in forest, as well as ascension at the end of the game
(poor kami we both have tried so hard)
why does the bot do that?
I call him Dunky.
Skybot exists solely to distract us from the truth using fellow-kid-isms and word vomit.
lol! it's just weird, because it's not even funny. like the whole "it's not that deep"
do the server want to discourage people to talk lore? what is the goal lol
#lore-discussion-spoilers message
This is a pinned message. We are not supposed to find out what is canon.
the megabird is a giant mass of Light, each drop off Light inside the mass is intelligent and together the Light sings and swims together in a timeless chorus
light creatures are the lifeblood of the megabird, cycling in and out of the Light to journey across the world and bring light and life to the realms with their presence, they have an energy inside them to be exploited, they sometimes shed this energy
butterflies are the easiest form of exploitable light energy so they are often captured and transported in jars
darkstone is a special resource that seems to suck up light and then emulate some kind of power, making it useful for all sorts of machines. The prince (possibly) discovered it and the kingdom started mining it so they could use it for all sorts of devices. Darkstone, when refined, creates power diamonds. Power diamonds can make things float, hold things together, move large objects, and most mysteriously, either project illusions, or tap into the minds of ancestors and skykids.
"Crabs are often found near the golden containers, which in turn are often found near power diamonds."
--lapis
It redirects and chemically changes Light, which in turn can corrupt the Light (somehow)
there was a giant power diamond created or harvested for some grand plan made by the prince and maybe the elders. It might have been a giant power source, a weapon, ect. I have recently been led to believe it creates a shaft of Light elevating Beings straight into Orbit, and that the prince was just trying to bring everyone home, which is what i believe the prophecy is about
there was a war, and all we can recognize about differences in the kingdom is there is a theme of tradition vs technology
all realms/sides USED both tradition and technology, but both were in favor of having more of one of them
The ultimate Sky-Lore pipeline is to make us Indifferent to the lore.
yeah to troll us lol
Lore: I will suplex Skybot on the summit of Eden.
I wish that was canon
I am unsure.
I like to think is in a pocket dimension. Separate from the realm by time and space, and all but forgotten.
I am not fully on board with the mindscape idea. Though am open to seeing evidence to prove either case.
got a super clean doc here if you ever feel like reading for some reason
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1B5N140v47F1FLuWHHRITYwEiLbptLZQFf0Lph-57XDE/edit?usp=drivesdk
the "Elder's Pocket Dimensions" section is the primary argument for the mindscape
the conversation has mainly shifted but I want to post a longer thing about the concept of sky lore so brace yourselves
I hear about mindscape and keep mistaking it for mental space, the area with the city rooftops.
it is a mental space tbf lol
but also a dimension, created by the connection all beings of light share with the megabird (by my ideas anyways)
tbh I donāt really feel necessarily slighted in regards to lore or lack there of. i feel like skyās primary story is cohesive and easy to pick up as you play through it till Eden. thereās just not a lot of specific actors and most of it is inference taken from the environment. thatās the basic story at the core of it all. and obviously then youāre left with this really fascinating world of spirits and ancestors and elders, and via the seasons mechanic weāre slowly piecing together not like the Big Story Lore as to how everything became the way it has - which I also want to know more about of course and I understand those who are frustrated with a lack of it or feel strung along - but itās about individual pockets of Ancestor society that slowly broaden our idea of how life was like in the past. like, we may not have any big Lore (King/Prince, Elder, Storm, War etc.) capital L drops in Abyss but weāre still getting lore: like the confirmation of existing undersea darkstone/power diamonds mining, the fact that krill either cohabitat in the sea or originate from it, the possible confirmation that not all spirits were wiped out in one giant blast and there were small groups struggling to survive after the fact, the undersea facilities whose purposes will probably be revealed in the quests coming up, a few new creatures we now know to exist in the world (Mosiac Eel, Big Worm Mural Fella)
i guess itās just to say thereās a difference between āwider story loreā and ābackground environmental loreā and believe me when i say iād love more of the former, but I personally still enjoy how much of the latter weāre still getting with each season. i think it fits in line with most of what the Skykids overall goal is: to restore the kingdom and help ascend Spirits, which we are doing with each season.
/posts a massive text block and promptly leaves to make spaghetti.
Yeah its like how we donāt know if the other dimension is called āAnother dimensionā and thats its name or if it just means that its another dimension.
O wait different lore.
Here is everything I have about the eel (nickname, not its canon name. And not yet confirmed to be related to the eel spirit in the daylight prairie caves)
The creature is seen in concept art to be very large, have a long body with at least 3 or 4 pairs of fins on its sides. While the many fins may be similar to the cosmic elder manta, the creature does not have a face, nor a fanned tail. Which may mean the eel could be related to the elder cosmic manta, or coincidently share the long body, many fins details.
The only in game images I can find with this creature is in the early version of Dawn. I struggle to get a clear screenshot of it from videos, therefore I have linked a YouTube video for you to see a glimpse of it flying through the clouds. It may have been there to foreshadow its later appearance in Eden during Light Awaits. Although it is only a theory based on the concept art and the fact that Eden was incomplete near the end of Light Awaits (before the global release).
https://youtu.be/5ZK3W7q0BtY?list=PLRTBVhU4gY5y61dHlzooaIbge8ACLLQUn&t=587
While the server here prohibits hacked content, I would like to give a comment on a video I have seen, but has since been deleted.
It was an early version of the Abyss area, that was not meant to be posted online.
While most of the assets were unpolished, which is to be expected that early in the season area's development, the video did also show the same eel creature in what looks like it ginormous size.
it's not environmental as moreso as it's now just been stripped down to it's themes @late wasp
we have to keep in mind, the themes were intended to CREATE the story, but as TGC got closer and closer to launch, they ended up having to strip the game down until it was nothing but themes yet again
it's beautiful, but i dont applaud them for that because it only looks like this due to being unable to accomplish a bigger agenda
(which isn't necessarily their fault, they wanted that, we wanted that, they just weren't able to physically accomplish that with such a small studio. their dreams were too big, and they left them behind...)
You know, Iāve been thinking about the mind space theory again, and I think itās more than just visiting a mental space.
Throughout the game, we experience an imprint of memories of Ancestors, while their bodies are elsewhere. Memories seem to have a presence throughout the world.
It would make sense, then, that meditation would be a way to focus and connect with the memories with lasting imprints in the world.
This matches really well with Vault: we know the tower exists, but the tower itself uses memories to manifest actual things, using a memory imprint to 3D print the reality of each floor.
The only caveat to this are the trials.
yea lapis, that's kinda what i go for with the deeper explanation of what the mindspace is; it's a connection to the Light that both the living and dead make
thats why the visuals exist the way they do; it's based off of collective thoughts
Makes sense of the "Ghost Whisperer"? forgot their name.
but basically we would be seeing a snapshot of the creatures and things that lived in that place in the past, right?
cosmic manta whisperer?
Ohhhh! That guy! Yeah! It does look like the mosaic eel!
oh wow, this is interesting. in Portuguese they are called "Spirit Whisperer", but in English it is "Memory Whisperer".
Even more so in line with what Lapis said.
I love the mosaic eel and the fact we donāt have a mosaic eel emote is torture
No, those are real. Reality is still reality, but the memory plays over it.
@tulip aspen , I think my idea is different in that there is no unified, colllective āmndspaceā. Like Mindspace theory, all beings are connected to the Megabird, or have light within them.
The world too is full of light. Strong memories, from anyone, can cause an imprint in the world. The pieces we see are the most impactful memories of anyone. It can be as simple as living butterflies, or as tragic as losing your friends one-by-one.
Those memories shape the light in the world, leaving an imprint that persists.
We donāt enter a mindspace. We just home in on a specific imprint on the world.
Potentially, every living being has left these imprints, but we focus on some of the more interesting ones.
I didnāt elaborate, but because the world is full of light, all beings can shape that light via a strong emotional connection to the area by using their own light.
Questions about the big ol spirit manta in the Wasteland level of vault-
- what is the significance of it being in the Wasteland level?
- is there any significance to the fact that it emerges from the Prairie constellation or is that arbitrary?
would that imply our interactions with spirits, and even with the elders, are kinda just recordings?
No, just the memory. Reliving the memory strengthens@the connection to the spirit, to the point that we can free them from their body and communicate with them.
Elders, I believe, were never physical. They only ever communicated with spirits via Meditation, and most Ancestors did not directly commune with the Elders.
wasteland level
do you mean starlight desert?
Think they mean the fifth floor of the Vault
so you think elders exist in a mindspace? @rustic heron
i will admit, i have been saying the mindspace is the answer to everything because
- it's such an easy perfect way to answer everything and
- i like having consistent themes to return to
I think The world@of@Sky is inherently intertwined with the spiritual. Elders are inherently spirits, and have a strong, permanent imprint in specific places.
Meditating at an Elderās statue āsummonsā the Elder to reality. The meditator will see the Elder, and they can interact spiritually (using ideas that take perceived form), and they appear in reality, but they are not physically there.
fascinating
why does the environment change when you see them tho? (except for vault)
the problem we're trying to answer, particularly about the elder scenes, is that you end up in a place akin to a void,
There are bones on that floor like there are big creature bones in the Wasteland. While we donāt know what those creatures were, thereās a correlation between the skeletons in the fourth floor of the Vault and the appearance of cosmic mantas, so we can presume those are manta bones on the fourth floor. Thus the larger skeleton in the fifth floor may be how that creature manifests in the Vault that correlates to its once living appearance. Though we still donāt know what it was when alive.
As for why it appears to emerge from the Prairie constellation, it could be nothing, just coincidence. Or it could have something to do with the fact that we see light creatures ā as butterflies ā emerging from pots and the large cosmic creature is just a nod to that.
You perceive changes in the environment that come from the memory. When the memory ends, you no longer perceive the changes. A good example of this is the manta rider in Valleyās orrery.
so you're kinda just taking on a hallucination/vision type vibe
You know, I canāt help but fee Sky kids can see the true form of a Krill, and thatās our strongest memory of Krills. The Cosmic manta and the Krills both have 4 pairs of limbs.
Itās not a hallucination. Sky is an inherently spiritual world. The world is like a giant memory cube, and we can see the memories because we are filled with light.
Itās as much a hallucination as a document file in a computer is. You can see and interact with it, but you canāt touch it. In fact, itās just electricity that powers lights in a specific fashion.
By cosmic manta in this case, you mean the large cosmic creature in the fifth floor?
I call it ālarge cosmic creatureā cos idk if itās actually a manta.
Yeah, that one. Honestly, itās more like a Krillās spirit. A freed Krill, if you will.
hmm yeah i get the sentiment but it still kinda fits the definition of a hallucination
the mindscape actually already uses those themes, with me theorizing that at least spirits work that way, being hallucinations we tap into via our connection to the Light
Guys what if the whole game is a game
I think the key difference is the word hallucination, like I mentioned before. Spirits exist in Sky. They are very real, but have no tangible form. All beings in Sky are both Spirit and Physical.
When Ancestors die, they are just shedding their physical body. They are then purely light beings.
Maybe itās easier to@say that there are 6 perceptual senses at work here. The first 5 are sight, sound, taste, touch, and smell. The 6th is the mind.
Spirits are only perceivable with this 6th sense.
yes, when beings of light shed their shells (they dont have fingernails) they become pure beings of Light; that's true
seeing something with only your mind is kinda the definition of a hallucination however, no matter how psychological or meditational we make this
is it being a hallucination a taboo perhaps? it just sounds bad? cos i could get that tbh
Hallucinations donāt exist. Thatās the main point of contention. InSky, Spirits do exist, as much as a manta, a crab, or a Sky kid. They just arenāt perceivable with the other senses alone.
Ah, Memory whisperer is the correct name, my apologies.
I recall some players like to call them spirit manta. While in concept art they are either cosmic mantas or night mantas.
When looking at the concept art, there does seem to have been plans for it to appear in some from. Again, possibly as foreshadowing to the Eden fight with the king and a corrupted creature.
All that remains of that connection, that I can tell, are the skeletal remains of a creature with a long body and a skull (there are some theories to suggest that is a whurtle, a whale and turtle hybrid).
The elder cosmic manta on the 5th floor of vault may have had a 'day' variant, similar to the mantas and the cosmic mantas.
It is possible the elder manta in the sanctuary island may be related, however the tail, larger pair of fins on the from and a thicker body may suggest otherwise.
Speaking of mantas, has anyone noticed the cosmic manta in the starry desert looking a bit different?
I sometimes see it develop a milky, whitish patch on its body. Especially if a skykid has touched it.
I wonder if mantas would turn into cosmic mantas when they reach vault for some reason. Would it be a caused by the storm? Would it be part of Vault's technology of using projections? Are cosmic mantas the result of draining the light from them and they would be taken to vault for safe keeping?
I should take pictures to compare.
ohhh true okay yeah i was the one with the wrong definition lmao
yes, Light is a real thing, and that's what they are made of, and yes, that is a projection, and only Beings of Light could see that projection
i guess i get a little confused cos all living things in the Sky universe are or were beings of Light, so yeah
Damn. It turns out I supportted Mindspace theory the entire time.
in a way, your take of spirits still coincides perfectly with the Mindspace's take of spirits
the difference just lies in that the mindspace argues the trials, elder scenes, and last floors of vault have to be completely within a dream, which you understandably dont seem to support
but i have theorized that floor 3 and 4 and perhaps 5 (the trees, bones, mantas and even platforms maybe) are still just physical illusions we can see and touch via our connection to the light
i used to call them hallucinations- is there a better word for it then sixth sense, if i shouldnt apply the word hallucinations?
English doesnāt really recognize the mind as a sixth sense, so itās difficult to find a word. The best word would be memory, or a mental state.
mm yeah none of those words really fit what im going for, and actually moreso nod to other theories i dont prefer
hm.
With how much of an emphasis the game has on meditation I believe that things like Trials and most of Vault take place on like, intersecting āplanesā of reality that can be accessed via meditation. Like how we specifically start each trial by going and sitting in front of an altar inside a meditation circle.
But. So does moving boats. Is boats very slow menial moving also a spiritual realm?
yep, thats what the mindspace is as a dimensional concept; a plane of reality created by the connection to the Light that all beings can tap into, in many different levels from hallucinationsillusions to full dreams
it's kinda like aang heading into the spirit world basically
salem and i have theorized tapping into the mindspace can activate specialized power diamonds such as boats and elevators, but what exactly that might mean is unclear, i do have theories, but they sound stretchy as we know little about power diamonds mechanically
I think the various meditation circles kinda depend on the context of where they are, like the more obvious ones in front of the altars vs ones that are just a circle on the ground thatās more like a loading mechanic. I guess it could be interpreted as the Skykid sitting and concentrating to use their Light to power the boats though like Bari said
We already know that whatever power diamonds are - and they seem to be at the basics, an energy source - skykids are able to interface with them and power them up using their Light. So if floating boats run on power diamonds, makes sense we could āchargeā them up
i think they're consistently a meditation thematic both on their own and also alongside being a loading screen for friends to enter new servers together in
The boats eat your energy through the boat floor
exactly
i'm baaaack
hi back! :D
Fun fact, the mine carts in the Abyss area do not have wheels.
They must have been floating from one place to the other similarly to how the boats in the dream village do.
Whereas the posts act as anchor points that guide the carts.
Oooh thatās neat!
We can at least establish the technology is up to Valley's standard.
Itās interesting comparing what technology is outwardly associated with power diamonds/darkstone versus what isnt.
Also
oh that's what you were talking about
hang on. Isn't a shared space a mental space?
When all things are considered, you meditate there and then are able to tune out other players to imagine props into existence. Better yet, you are then able to share this mental space you created publicly.
yep, shared spaces ended up being important evidence to the fact that they still consistantly give us the theme that meditating takes us into another plane of reality this long after launch
its clearly important, which is why im so crazy over it
It was part of the assembly season, and was when skykids started interacting with the spirits.
The guide was the first to interact with the skykids, until a later update allowed the rest of the guides to do the same.
Too bad its not chill city rooftops
Thatās the other point of contention. I donāt like the notion of parallel realities. I much prefer the notion that youāre just experiencing the memory of another sky kidās space. The glowing stone controlling the shared space is just a 3D recorder of the environment, and when you enter the shared space, much like Vault, the space is recreated for others to enjoy.
But you can only experience one memory at a time .
I wonder if this counts as another timeline. It shows the initial entire progression of the game.
I believe that was a colour script of what the game's plot would have been in early development. Ergo, it is more like the plot for Light Awaits, or at least an early version of it.
However, that plot has since been changed since global release, and unfortunately no longer canon by the current game's lore.
ah yes. it's extremely important that we acknowledge each other's biases because a huge thing that goes into the politics of Canon chasing is that what we support and what evidence we find logical or appealing is strongly due to our personal preferences
that is why I have to acknowledge every side of every bias in every one of the docs that are more controversial, such as the mind space illusion one and the one about which species the krill might have came from
Maybe I should write up my thoughts and gets some more grounding as to why itās compelling. Right now it feels like I just have floating ideas. Iāll ruminate a bit on it and come back with something more organized later.
Yeah :/ thats what, I said. Shows what it would have been like even before LA
honestly I feel like we will continue to agree to disagree, but that's not necessarily a bad thing as it will open us up to more possible theories
yours is still very logical, and if I see enough people getting behind it then that means it's relevant enough that I should acknowledge it in the already uploaded mindspace doc, so yay! xD
True canon is like a white whale.
We are all humble sailors, some of use are fishing on the surface, other crusade the high seas and some are willing to delve deeper.
yeah im just surface level
Honestly yeah I donāt think thereās so much of parallel realities and more like you can share a meditation/mindscape with the power of Friendship. Some things like game mechanics with shared spaces I think arent really meant to be analyzed super critically, not that it isnāt fun to try and speculate on small stuff
when you explain it like that you make the mind space sound simple xD
maybe I'm just bad at writing lol
heehooo
hello lorechat it is me doodle
Hereās an interesting topic: can ancestors manufacture plastic? I ask because sunglasses exist in the game, and these tend to be made from plastic.
lol Iām not the best either donāt worry!!
They could be made from that fancy biodegradable plastic
Thatās an even more complicated process than regular plastic creation.
Maybe, but considering how non-modern the spirits were in their technology, Iād imagine sunglasses to be made of any material. After all, the very first sunglasses made in Earth were made out of quartz!
the cheap answer is that sanctuary's cosmetics aren't Canon
the much cooler answer is that they can find crystal-like rock ser through enough and use thin chunks of that as material for some heavy hekin glasses
Iām late to this, but I wonder if this is connected with the mantas in abyss (the ones you have to free from the enclosure in third quest) having that massive dark blue patch on them, almost like theyāre beginning to go transparent and you can see through them. AFAIK it disappears after they escape.
I assumed it was a visual glitch but it would be interesting if it was intentional
chill sunbather's neck must be ripped
Ancestors had darkstone tech, no doubt in my mind they could make glass
glass is made of sand, kinda, you could taint some with curry
inb4 they used turmeric as a dye for sunbather's glasses
It is a shame they do disappear.
It would be nice to have see them fly above the area.
As for the manta in the starry desert. It does seem to have a transparent look like any other manta in Vault.
However, when a skykid rides it, a white translucent patch appears on the body.
The problem is I am having trouble getting a good shot of this. I am on android and any time I try to ride a manta, some glitches happen 9/10.
Either I get thrown off, or start violently shaking while trying to stay on, or the camera jolts to behind the manta and the the former or the latter happens.
I do hope TGC fixes that.
That and consider including a setting to disable the camera being forced to pan in different directions. It may be fun to see this and that in the realms, it become more and more of a nuisance. After playing nearly 2 years, I do not want to see the same things every time I fly past them.
I know it is part of the cinematics of the game, but not when the player know about it does not want to see it for the umpteenth time.
The same can be said about the hints. Same reason apply, after a while, there is no need to remind a player on to play the game, unless they are suffering from memory loss.
Manta models have this spot by default. They just glow so brightly you canāt see it.
Credit here: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/mq4Dd1
random thing but remember when we were talking about how all the weapons seemed more blunt force than slicey? (slightly off topic but
)
Yeah makes sense, the only āswordā looking weapon we can really see is from TLP cosmetic
noticed that they have that in sanctuary.
It always makes me happy how similar some mantas look to nudibranches. It is clearly a superior creature design
i have to wear steel face shields and my neck is still a pencil

fr tho i thought they were gonna populate the reef wth
Well the ancestors did have to lure them in that one mural so maybe the air was their true home all along
truetrue if i was just let out of a prison where i was supposed to get juiced i wouldnt want to stay nearby that same prison lmao
I uh
I was looking around valley and saw this when i actuslly lit up the lantern
(was glancing around Yeti's spot after a forest candle run)
but like axes? whats big man yeti doing with axes like that?
Yeah, do you think theyāve been there ever since the spirits put them there and we finally came along and freed them?
ooooh
wait isnt it that theyre just beings of light and just pop out
i forgot if this is canon fact or no
I think they used to be a axe juggler
Oh yeah remember the missing-the-bottom-rhombus symbol someone found in forest? Found it again in the entrance to Eden
Again I know very little and am but a humble loremoff so idk if it has any significance but I noticed it and figured Iād send it
It is basically an enlarged model from the race holding area in valley
Oh cool
Ty!
Probably just general tech symbolism since thatās what most of the diamond shapes are
when people first asked this question we were all very curious and wondering so during a q&A with Ash and this chat someone brilliantly asked if yet he might have just been a axe juggler
Ash didnt directly say yes, but they reacted to their comment with a
I have my doubts about Yeti actually being an ax juggler, but unfortunately it has become a viable Theory because each of the dream spirits supposedly has some background in entertainment
Maybe they just like decorative sharp things
the fact that they exist, whether or not yeti used them, is suspect tho
would it only have been for trees?
Well, if Yeti is a retired axe juggler, then maybe they retired because they accidentally axed one of their horns off
Could this be another squared element like the one seen along the mine carts road in Treasure Reef?
Cause it doesnt look like a vase to me
IHMO not caused by the storm
We see mantas during Eden flight to the castle and they look just fiine.
If we assume Purple as the color of Mind and/or Imagination, Starlight Desert is a dreamlike land which maybe it's just a pale imitation of a land far away from Eden (like those seen in the Switch trailer). After all we see cosmic mantas as projections/dreams/memories in Vault, like the multiwing mantas in floor 5 (possibly extinct) which even slowly face away after going up a floor
LOOK BOT
be quiet š
LOOK FAM: Your brain's as deep as a puddle.
Ivealready see you sharing this, but I didnt ask you the source
It's very interesting, onky now I noticed how it could fit my theory about Baby "Pancakes" Mantas being newborn of the Greater Mantas (even if we never seen this missing link of the one horned manta, which also has the S_shape wings I mentioned somewhere before )
No it is
Watch out, puddles can be deeper that you imagine...
..but this not the case, sorry skybot
Can't see the trail well but notice how the spirit directly went to the other side ? I think forest had a lot of wooden bridges that eventually rot away
Ohh good observation
Yeah, after all there should have been one obviously around the corner, on the left, leading from the candles to the umbrella spirit, a lightseeker(and one from the meditation spot to the aforementioned candles)
Or they pulled a Mary Poppins.
Also, star collector's boat is so swag, why couldn't the old abyss boat be like this too
Btw i like how the blushing pioneer seems to stole the umbrella from the blank spirit (tho it might have received it as a gift which she seems so fond on the last memory fragment)
what i like about that boat is the vault symbol ā, implying vault sailors
Nerds attempt to sail boat on theory alone, crash 10 seconds later.
Because the crew is not as rich as that star collector :lol
Abyss Crew vs Star Collector. Who will win?
Abyss Crew, Star Collector is a saturday morning cartoon villain.
Ceasing commodore ceases Star Collectorās life with a piledriver.
WHEEZES
Collector || obviously, using money and star could have tempted the Cackling Cannoneer
|| /j
oh right, let me serious for a moment, because it is relevant
Cannoneer cannot be bought. They are an uncontrollable force of gun.
i thought piledrivers were a kind of pillar, so i imagined ceasing commodore swinging a blunt object around
Haha, youāve come to know the truth, and it is so much more brutal.
Where do you think Star collectorās geyser came from?
i think my initial idea is cooler
Abyss Crew are described as survivors that formed a crew and set out for adventure, meaning we are talking post-Storm. And the resources they are looking for is also described as searching for treasure.
This alone implies there is an economy, otherwise collecting treasure would mean nothing. And also that power crystals are the currency of post-Storm economy.
TGC also describes the Abyss Crew as what the GW culture would look like. HOWEVER we have to take into consideration we are talking about post-Storm. So it's my belief that TGC meant the post-Storm GW culture: people going through ruins and collecting power crystals to become rich in the post-Storm economy.
mad max ?
We se see that symbol in many spots, not just there. The Door in Forest Temple or at the bottom of Reef, for example
What I like about that Collector mini area is that it's really confusing
Umbrella spot from Sanctuary
Spear recalling GW
Geyser still from Sanctuary
Broken boat like in GW
A path of "pillar" that remind me of Citadel
Jellyfish from either Sanctuary or Forest.
Sand from Isle or Sanctuary
It's a spot hidden behind the clouds
It's a riddle to figure from which Realm their more related
The diamond symbol I literally on the sky kid itself... Albeit looks a bit like
The same symbol is in almost all instruments
Plot twist: The Star Collector rides in and buys all the dark diamonds at the end of Abyss
Edit: That way, they'd own more stars, they never said some of their collection couldn't be artificial (yes the dark diamonds were called artificial stars once)
It was like that before :(
Double Twist: Star Collector was actually cannoneer the entire time.
if it is like my theory about the mini craters around the polluted geyser
There could be a golden container/battery which reacts well with some geothermal energy (when Pollute geyser is active sometimes even the not buried golden container emits hair gets like the 5 mini craters around the main crater)
abyss boat in beta was way cooler, look it up. i dont get how star collector gets a detailled boat while abyss crew had to be redone to look way more basic :(
whyd they unboat the boat
Ikr
I wonder what is the Commodore's powerlevel, because even the Cannoneer is taking orders from them. Implying they know something that we don't. Maybe the calm and zen attitude hides the most potent death machine.
you don't really need to be violent to get someone's respect, even as unruly as cannoneer. perhaps they are in command because they are the best at that in the crew
Cannoneer is infinitely strong, but everyone needs validation and support. In that regard, Commodore is strongest.
Idunno, but according to Google, their JP name translates to "Immovable Admiral"
That alone says a lot
commodore's dad vibes are just that powerful
Yes

But cannoneer might want to keep the Stars collected by Collector all for themself !
||So first, temporarily allied with Collector (CC seems a Chaotic Evil), only to betray him and keeping resources and stars for themself
||
man i want to host a dnd game for the abyss crew
my headcanon is that Cannoneer is the Horrifying One
They have thrown someone into the ocean at least once
do it, but invite us
nah
unironically a great setting for DnD
going into GW ruins to collect power crystals, and trying to avoid dark creatures

Your team manage to escape the Krills and collect the power crystal, to the dismay of the DM

Your boat decided to yeet everyone into the ocean.

petition to add Careless Whisperer to Sky, and they give a š·
ohhhh he's the one who fixes the ship
i like how the actual game didnt tell us that at all :D
Yes we need that
At first I actually thought that's what "Boatswain" meant
That you repair the ship and stuff
anyWAY
Also, we have Crab Call voice, gimme Krill Call voice
Careless Dragon Whisperer, it's perfect, even the name implies the character story
Heās bad at it. Thatās why the boat isnāt flying.
POV: you're the wingman and TLP is about to seduce the grass
Boatswain over-tinkered and shrunk the boat
no.
not until they give us long notes and allow the audio to be sensitive enough we can stocatto

HOW DID YOU GET THEM THERE-
new headcanon: the reason the boatswain collects less and less crystals š as the story progresses is because they got distracted in collecting shells š instead.
Lol yes perfect
Thought boatswain said āonly one handā instead of āalways on handā and that bios said something interesting :/
Boatswain has only 1 hand and the other hand got amputated and replaced with a hammer /j
since sky kids are airborne, do you think they do that to annoy eachother ?

While looking on the friends constellation tap on š« Block List and simply walk on the desired spot, then close it turn your sight to the constellation again
Then chose your desired spirit
there's a block list????
||when are they finally gonna update the friend constellation smh||
b r u

I come out of class to an info card and a Vela illustration, highlight of my night
I wonder that too. I could swear I have dozens of friend which are not showed in the constellations.. I wish to see a full list, even of those not showing/lighting my star daily
In one of the dev livestreams, they said they were working on remaking the friend constellation so thereās hope
the blocklist only appears in the upper right if you block someone.
Source: has blocked one (1) person
i wouldn't know anything about that
I want a "Last Online" or "Unfriend" option. That's all.
SAME
a really nice new mechanic, would be a buyable ability to ping your friend's phone with a notification that you're online
it'd be really high up and there'd be a warning before you buy it that you should trust them to ping you
i want to be able to see all my friends. at least be able to refresh the constellation to see other friends. sometimes I got friends online who don't pop up on my constellation without relogging and that's tedious
tbf alasdair you should prolly block some dead moffs, sounds like
I wish there was an option to find people with shared goals.
I still haven't done Season of Assembly*, because I couldn't find a pair to do one of the quests lol!
I have friends in Sky, but I just don't want to be bothersome to them, and SoA* is really out of the way if you've done it already.
What Belonging Quest?
some of them I'm sure don't play anymore, others don't play everyday like I do (which is understandable), but I've been surprised by some "dead" moths who started playing again
The one you and someone else have to sit together in a light. I think it's the 2nd quest? lol
i dont get it
do you mean the Assembly quests?
LMAO yes! I'm sorry! I mixed it up while typing LOL
Super late to this and I apologize very much but I donāt think mindspaces are really parallel realities either? or at least thatās not the right word for them. Itās like someoneās imagination just filling the space and creating illusions if that makes sense. If you dive fully into it like elder cutscenes itās more similar to reading their mind than entering a parallel reality
I imagine it like a visual representation of what their thoughts, experiences, emotions, etc look like. I am aware that this probably makes little to no sense but itās a very abstract concept in general so Iām not sure how to explain it better. Iāve seen the concept of different minds looking like different landscapes when you try to enter them in several pieces of media involving mind reading though so you might already know what Iām talking about
exactly it's in the name lol it's a mindspace
you're entering their mind basically
Yeah, but it seems like thereās some confusion between my explanation and just being transported to an alternate but equally real dimension. Does this difference makes sense???
Commodore's video makes me afraid of entering people's mindspace
imagine seeing the horde of honking moffs
Commodore's a madlad for handling it
(also, it's not a horde, it just looks like a horde)
Wait guys small question are there seasons where the quests arenāt available anymore or something? Was that not a thing at some point? If it was always a thing then I definitely have some seasonal quests to catch up on because I havenāt done all the seasons.
my mindspace is in a constant state of honking moffs what do you mean
Enchantment quests can't be done without a daily quest for it
Sanctuary and TLP quests can only be done once
Mine too
At first the quests for the seasons was literally āfind the spirit.ā Seasonal spirits were released once a week and reliving their memories were basically the āquestsā
Incoming wall of text
Now you can. heh.
I speedran them in one day
Got those
I donāt think you can redo pre enchantment seasons, just because the guides didnāt stick around. Could be wrong though
No I mean
Enchantment quests can only be done once, after that, you have to wait for its daily quest
Sanctuary and TLP quests can only be done once.
Dreams and Assembly quests can be redone.
Prophecy quests are trials so ig every time you go into a trial you're redoing a quest
I'd never get to know the reason why we always have to revive the s0irits memory(?). Is it weāthe adventurersāneed to save them from darkness??
ah I get it!! yeah
they are ghosts who forgot who they are.
My guess is that part of saving them is helping them put back together the pieces of themselves (the memory)
And by reliving we also gain a piece of empathy (emote) which may or may not be a side effect
it really should just come down to asking people fam
im sure if theyre your friends they wont mind, and it'll even be fun
Hmmm both of your statements makes sense for me. Got it
im sure, but still lol
if you're hoarding friends past the 300 limit that can show on screen then
Thatās
A lot of friends-
Wait you can have 300 friends in sky game?
yes, but they can't show up at the same time
You guys remember the ruins from Journey and look at the ruins in Sky.... do you think they are connected in someway, I mean something had happened before we as the children who bring light to lost spirits and assist each other when we end up crossing paths and meet new ppl along the way... I think that there was some sort of problem that happened to cause those kind of damages including to as of why that storm is surrounding eden and attracting all of those krill or if there is anything worse than the krill lurking around.
Also to as of why those kids at the eden graveyard (the place where you try to revive the children with your WL) are there in the first place, like were they trying to stop someone/something?
Because really think about it there are about 5 portals to 5 of the main villages we go to to visit the village elders to help them but elders were weakened by something and we don't actually know the cause of it aside from the secret locations and other ruins. (this is for those who want to catch up on a convo I was having).
I have six active friends and a few non-active ones
Oooh my dream goal friends haha! While I'm here wanting to find some new friends that can play with me whenever we have time because im really lonely- though the game starts to lag when one or two joined me in CR
@real raven you said you wondered what the elders would have looked liked, well please expand on that.
you can have more than 300, likely into the thousands, but only 300 friends will show on your constellation so any other friends past that will randomly get buried and not show, which can be annoying for sure
so old vets like alasdair and i have to manage our friends by blocking long dead people (or be conservative of who we add like i do) les we risk the wrath of a bloated confused constellation menu lolol
Youāre right, skykids are saving the spirits from darkness. You see after reliving the spirit memories thereās a statue that after lighting up, out pops a spirit. The spirit had been petrified in darkness and your candle chases away the darkness and reawakens them.
As for why the spirit memories, Iāve talked about my theory on what they really are before: #lore-discussion-spoilers message
Basically, spirit memories are really the memories of the Sky world has about the ancestors which the Sky world uses to lead us to the petrified spirit
[laughs in too shy to make friends so doesnāt have to worry about having too many]
If anyone else is having thoughts on this please feel free to share some insight.
Ah the one I have mentioned in general chat? Well that just came to mind, i was just suddenly curious since in the very beginning of the gameāas a new player (im not a new player btw) that plays the game they did tell us to save the light childrens(?)
Since we did met some of the elders..?? In every realmsāwait im starting to make no sense
most of my friends came from when I was a moth and friending every soul I saw LOL
now we just talk, emote spam, and wander around being goofy
yeah, seasons from gratitude to rythm aren't available to play through, but tbf the quests were just about saving the season's spirit so...
I seem to attract moths and they tend to get upset when I refuse their friend request so...
Also Iām not an old vet, Iām a TLP moth

Thatās not what Iām talking about, shush
No it makes sense, because they tell you to save spirits and give light to bring them back as well as collecting winged light along the war to improve your "power" but at the same time you are just walking around doing this completely unaware of what happened to cause this and without much reasoning behind it all.
Just had the realization that Iāve been playing Sky for 6 months, ahhhhh
you're a prince moth???
how do you have 300???

you really dont have to succumb to every moth that walks by....

generally i refuse friendship and get some chairs instead so the moth can ask me for help, but i had one stomp at me and leave like... not my problem but ok
a common occurance lolol
Iām pretty sure I donāt have 300 friends, not even 100. There just arenāt a lot of spots on the friend constellation
Yeah which also makes us completely relaxed to the game and sometimes forgot there's even a lore behind the game. But hey
Glad we have a game so comforting like this
the max friends that show on your constellation before folks start vanishing is 300 tho....
Not every moth but more than one moth cried when I refused
Wait, it's 300? Not 72?
72 and 300 are weird numbers when computing is concerned
yeah
Right and that's completely true for something we can appreciate, also what do you think about some of the crash sights like the Lost Ark in the Golden Wasteland's deserts?
Wow... I feel like MatPat rn lol
That name triggers lorechat
some of us are considering getting matpat on the case
even if they screw up we can at least have a nice ol' inside joke
#lore-discussion-spoilers message a quick explanation on the disaster that destroyed the sky kingdom and killed everyone
I'd rather have the beautiful people of lore chat create their own Youtube channels and have a movement going on
than have a large youtuber exploit our passion for money
that was considered once
idk if it will happen
No we should bc
- content
- give most of us a clearer picture to what happened even to those who don't even play sky as of now
Did Sky lore theorists compare ||Eden castle|| with Tower of Babel?
I would be down for helping someone with their channel. But the idea of appearing and talking on one gives me immense anxiety
use Text-to-Speech. there are great ones (for free) i saw recommended by a trans woman who wasn't comfortable sharing her voice yet. it made me realize how much in the future we are.
she also used it to voice different characters in her videos. it is really fun!
If you search āTower of Babelā in this channel youāll see lore speculation about the resemblance
Yeah, at the very least, we get an inside joke that lasts forever
Or a much-needed biggol lore compilation
Or some nice and new perspectives
Or best case scenario, MatPat puts the puzzle together and finds out something big
Thank you
yes!
i think it's actually a direct part of the story that the king tried to make an alternative way to get back into Orbit without having to go through an entire process of meditation and religion, and that the diamond in Eden was supposed to create a shaft of Light that would send the kingdom back into the Sky
game theory could never do that because he makes videos for the sake of content not being faithful to the game
he wouldn't end up knowing about the concept art and therefore would be left out on the king and the megabird etc etc etc so he'd just make some dumb thing
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO (pain)
x_x
See, that name triggers lorechat
Thanks but to be honest it's not just about the storm I want to know everything exactly, things like why are there literal (terrible pun ik) glowing kids that you go around collecting to help you fly higher, to why are there monsterous krill and crabs running around trying to get you, and one of the main things is why the Village elders have been weakened to the point that they depend on us ( the players) to help them restore the lost light and to bring back their strength.
I have no negative or positive opinions on this, but I will say that if matpat made a video and one of my theories was in it, I would shut down from pure shock and would only recover from it 10 years later at minimum
it's weird people think matpat is knowledgeable of lore
he just pays someone to write a script. and reads it.
he would pick the most clickbaity person to write some theory that draw views.
pretty much every lore community dislikes matpat. the only positive is exposure, which is something Sky doesn't need much tbh
Game Theory needs to play the game to understand what's going on.
summary
"A mass of Light sits in space, a collective conscious
Ancestors (spirits) came from the Light, either sent or fell by accident, as pure Light energy, then gaining shells upon landing.
These ancestors began building a kingdom, but due to the religious subtexts of worship and meditation, it's theorized that they were supposed to reconnect mentally to that Light in space, in order to ascend back up to it. (that theory may be incorrect and they might've had no real way to return)
Powerful deities; Elders, were sent by the Light to help them ascend, tasked to help the ancestors grow both spiritually and keep their kingdom thriving, but even then the ancestors still couldnt ascend..
The prophets had a vision and saw a being defeating a group of trials, and being given great power to lead them all to salvation.
Ancestors tried the trials but failed, until a special child ancestor that fell from the sky a long time later, defeated them and was crowned prince/king.
The prince MAY have singlehandedly discovered/developed darkstone and crystal technology, but that might've been before the prince.
There seemed to be resentment in the kingdom with one side preferring spiritual traditions, and the other preferring technology.
Civil war breaks out.
The giant diamond in eden was created/harvested for an unknown purpose, but recently i've been led to believe it was intended to send all ancestors straight back up into space without a complicated ascension process.
(Made before or during the war???)
The crystals created some sort of corruption pollution, and the giant diamond ruptured.
We dont know much about the apocalypse that followed, and there's even theories that there were multiple apocalypses all at once.
After the dust settled, likely decades later, all of the ancestors were dead.
A loooong time after that, the mass of Light sent angels to retrieve the souls of the ancestors, and that's us! Our job isnt done until every spirit hidden in new areas is found."
I don't think anyone cares enough to make a video about it, and if there are videos on the subject, it's not the content I watch.
but I'm speaking from experience of the Dark Souls, Hollow Knight and Undertale community. MatPat's theory are wrong beyond repair, sometimes overlooking basic concepts.
About scripting, MatPat says as much and credit the people who write the scripts. GameTheory is a business, that's all.
Slr
Also about the crash? Well it was improved quite a bit like it doesn't have any crash anymore but it is still a bit laggy for me though since im an android user. And it has almost full storage
Well, youāre not alone⦠all of us desperately want to know the same things
Jam has a really neat theory about the winged lights that he can explain to you. The krill and crabs are both light creatures that have been corrupted by the storm and are desperately trying to steal your light in an impossible hope of returning to their former selves; what krill originally looked like is up for debate, but itās commonly accepted that crabs didnāt change much from their original forms.
The elders were killed in the storm similar to ancestors, but beyond that we donāt know too much about how they work. They seem to have a greater connection to the world than ancestors do and are grateful for the light we give them, implying they need it in some capacity. Wish I had more information on this topic for you, but itās not something Iāve focused on before; going to think about it for a bit
im afraid playing the game doesn't give the deeper narrative justice unfortunately.
if i may, none of us know anything, the summary i gave you is elaborate guesswork from vague evidence that salem fruity others and i have taken months to put together and even SEMI agree on
and it could still all be wrong
my take on the winged light is moreso vela's take haha
Is it? Sorry, didnāt realize. Different things different people did can blur together pretty easily in my head
I think I may have brought up the "impossible hope of returning to their former selves" part once
Iāve described winged light as such based on the dev quote that winged light are āimprints of the children of lightā:
i've been favoring the idea that winged light are the imprints of skykids, specifically a mark where many of them have been, hence why they appear in the same places (tho that may be gameplay mechanic, but I like to think in-universe they also appear elsewhere less often) like a well-treaded path in the woods made by many footprints walking the same way
As for krill, theyāre corrupted light creatures. We donāt know what they were originally. Darkness corruption, whether directly or indirectly caused by the ancestors, strips a light creature of its light and makes it hungry for more light. Thereās a hint at the start menu that describes krill as āhungry for your lightā hence being so murderous
no no it's okay lolol i just made sure i don't take credit for things other people contributed
and yeah vela and alasdair also share the same theory
p much my feelings yeah, matpat goes for what will get clicks, and i already dread PC Sky so... sky is better off staying relatively niche
anyways I just searched up matpat's controversies
will watch later
not really about controversies, just that a large youtuber will bring his fanbase to sky, and honestly i dont think i could handle more than what we already got, fanbase-wise
I donāt think the servers could handle it
the servers are fine, being limited to 8 people can dissuade raids at least, it's more like the kind of people that we might get from a huge personality
Right there is no way of knowing if there is a way to reverse the corruption one the crabs and krill but it may actually be possible because I remember helping the Old man at the ark that was trying to restore most of the resources on the ark and in the midst of all the tasks we had done for him we had reversed the corrupted water back to it's natural state.
Enchantment Guide < Old man
You get my point.
Enchantment Guide is less than an old man? What do you mean?
yea i just when I hear "old man" in regards to Sky it throws me off but i always know who that's directed to
I tend to be on the further end of the extrapolation spectrum, in that itās the memory being brought into the Sky kids āmindspaceā (itās just reality), as opposed to the sky kid being brought into some other reality/experience.
This is more of a semantic dispute; the core of the theory is still something I, apparently, support.
Glowing sky kids are connected to mindspace theory in that they are memory imprints@of the first child of light/the king, left in places that were the most memorable for them.
Possibly consequently, they are our memories as well, being the descendants/offshoots of the king.
Thereās several prominent theories compacted in this statement.
i should compile my headcanons into a doc so i can copypaste my thoughts whenever the subject is bought up lmao, i really love the idea that wl are hopes and dreams that may not always originally be ours
I was already informed but thank you.
Wait.. I just realized something...
Say it
Nah. (:
there's a lot of different theories out there about the same things. one person's theory can be similar or distinct from another's. this is different than canon information we know as true.
Why not?
mostly I just lurk in this channel and absorb lore
Kidding. Hang on, before I say anything has anyone watched Steven universe?
Trust me you'll see where I'm going with this.
You have incurred lore debt. You must now share your thoughts, or I will repossess your lore pass and your Sky account.
now they definitely ain't gonna share
eat a potato lapis lazuli
No, I have never seen Steven Universe.
how Steven Universe handles light magitech with the Gems informs some of my theories about skykid and other light creature physiology
Like you have the authority to do that lmao
Iāve taken your lore pass. Now the gates to lore Valhalla are closed to you forever.
The ancestors are the alien race that created the Gems. All Gens are just purifiers darkstone filled with The Light.
WHAT EVEN IS LORE VALHALLA
YOU DIE IN A LORE BATTLE AND YOU GET SENT HERE?!
forget about the lore war over skids' breathing, the lore war between Lapis Lazuli and Origins is one that's gonna go down in history
i dont remember that lore war happening
like it didnt get into warry levels right?
Indeed
Lore Valhalla is the resting place of all lore veterans. There they ride great Lore Bibles into warring Debates, and then they feast upon the True concept art of Sky.
I leave for 15 minutes
15 monies
It seems no one has reached Lore Valhalla then
Crying over the Bumbling Boatswain art I love them
I bet the way they lost their hair is another accident unrelated to thumb-crushing
Right but take a look at this: #lore-discussion-spoilers message
Compared to the Steven universe storyline (before future) it seems somewhat similar because of the fact that the gems had no real way to reach their home world (until eventually they fixed the tp pads).
Simple fact is this: we may not have a real way to get home as of now but we can find a way to get home and we will do it... we just need to find the right window of opportunity.
you talk as if I've never read Jam's soliloquies before
Okay Iām finally ready to beat up the vault elder and steal all their murals, wish me luck in screenshotting them all in time
aaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAA ZABENYAAAAAAaaaaaaa
Well I haven't but it's ok to just brain dump while thinking sometimes.
yea tbh that was a tad rude of me
Bear in mind thatās Jamās take on it. They have their own, if not substantiated, take on things.
This cutscene has been my bane for the last week. If you donāt screenshot them all in time you wake up at Eden, and you have to ascend all the way back through vault to replay it
can't you just use the all-elder room oob?
The last mural doesnāt show up in the OOB.
I. Do not know how to oob and every time I attempt it it does not work, might be cursed or something
I can take you. I love going oob.
I need to measure my chibi self against all the elders anyway.
Really? I would very much appreciate it
Yup. Give me about 1/2 an hour.
Jokes on you I never had a lore pass, I had volunteered myself by just being here ranting by my own insight and curiuosity.
Besides I'm already sitting at the king's table chilling with Odin.
my take on "home" for skykids (and other beings of Sky) aside from Homespace is that their home may be Orbit/Megabird. every skykid was once a star and, as falling stars, they are born upon the world. Orbit and/or Megabird is a god made of a mass conglomerate of stars. we can get there by dying in Eden and ascending, but skykids keep being reborn. the why is unclear
I think it's because we haven't rescued all the spirits yet. There are still populated areas to uncover.
that is the way
Who is Skyās equivalent of Odin?
The Vault's elder.
now Lapis would like that take
Yeah Lapis can try.
do you know about Megabird, the supposed god of Sky?
Mune, Alasdair care to hang out for a bit?
i mean i am right here
Sure
I was not aware of this but that's cool!
Would you like to hang out in game?
would you like to know about our lord and savior, Megabird?
Why do I feel like this is a trap?
Because lorechat is weird
at least i'm not king propaganda weird.
okay on second thought, maybe i am

yepyep thats actually how i originally created the idea that they just project their clothes and hair; from the OTHER space rocks
hmm no them being king fragments is just a... popular, theory
they are strictly "imprints of the children of the light"
Fun fact. The silhouette/impression of basic moth clothes is the only cosmetic visible when we lose our flame, implying that the first outfit you get is part of your body, although your light adds color and texture to it.
Not really sure how to feel about this fun fact but at least itās an improvement over āskykids are naked except for a light illusionā
maybe it's made of earthly material too
so Megabird is the supposed god of the Sky world. you see them after the end credits while descending Eden. I can't send that pic but I can send Kamilico's compilation of Megabird symbolism in-game and in Tom Zhao's concept art.
Megabird is kinda a big deal but we don't know much about Them. They are at least made of stars, possibly a hivemind (more on that later). they sent down skykids on their mission to save the Sky world from the ancestors' screw up and rescue all the spirits so that they can ascend. they presumably made all light creatures, the ancestors, and the Elders.
presumably, ascending allows one to reunite with Megabird. when lorechat goes off about Sky spirituality, Megabird is in the center of it all
Resh, not Megabird
Resh is, at least, the Sky equivalent of the antichrist
I follow that Sky kids are fragments of the King. I also feel like Skykids donāt have as much light as the King, and would not leave such a strong imprint on the world.
Listen, if Megabird didnāt want them to create a massive explosion that destroyed everything in the world, they shouldnāt have left those cool rocks out where anyone could find them
Ready Salem?
I'll need to friend you to find you. Is that all right? We can take this to DMs to hash out the details.
Yeah! No worries
the megabird is the entity in Orbit, a giant mass of Light energy that all Light Beings come from and belong to
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1QeIMzNaPz-TzC8ZHrdUYTOZ99zObm1PYx65sejTyIfc/edit?usp=drivesdk
it's called megabird by lore vets because the entity is named that in concept arts, and people love personifying the megabird as some sort of god
The One/Megabird still exists and is wholly relevant, via the Light that we see in Orbit
all Beings of Light in the world came from the Light, they belong to it, and they will always inevitably return
however, i don't think The One intends to "gain intelligence and experiences" through the beings that descend down into the world
for me it seems like the lifeblood of the light that flows in and out of the corners of the universe are the light creatures, however, ancestors, were the anomaly, which i why i believe they are an accident at this point in the game's story
either an accident, or a mistake that the Light let happen, and couldn't stop
skykids are just the rescuers, the ones who clean up that mistake
flashback to the insomnia night when Jam, Fruity, and I were ascending about Sky spirituality
I think the insomnia only applied to your timezone that time
insomnia accounts for 25% of my lorechat contributions
Bruh Antichrist????? Care to explain?
I didn't mean it in a negative way, moreso categorically. in Christian mythos, the antichrist would be a Christ-like figure who would destroy the world by bringing world peace. kinda what the king did ā brought the Sky kingdom to a golden age with the development of darkstone tech and power diamonds, ultimately making Eden go boom and creature the worldwide storm
Ohhhhh ok
||more like Protestant mythos, but yeah||
thought you would mention the Cave of Prophecies, how only "2" figures complete it: the King and "us".
While the King does not self-sacrifice (Christ), we do, effectively becoming a Christ-figure, while the king is an anti-Christ figure.
Update: due to our collaborative efforts, the vault elder could not withstand the strength of our fists and gave up their murals easily
I always saw the King as a parallel toward Lucifer. In trying to be the brightest star, both lost all their light and fell to darkness.
If anyone else wants to go OOB, give me a ring.
interesting, i personally consider the intro cutscene to be very relevant, on how the "Orbit King" does not fall to the earth. But the "Prince" falls from a "lower heavens" cloud formation.
AKA King is a fraud.
if my new theories are right though he may have been trying to get everyone home
i shudder thinking about when I'll finally revise my megabird doc lmao
the "two religions" chapter will be fun š¬
"here's the summary of both of our religions pFIRE
"this sounded wholesome at first, but now im projecting myself into one of the ancestors, and realizing
this is as if God only lets us be born so he can see the knowledge and experience being human would give
kinda grim
truly like a puppet
okay people, we've got two religions to choose from in Sky
fruity, which one would you want to believe?
which one would be the better of two kinda somber realities
returning to the perfect and controlled dance of Light forever and never deviating from that again after you and the others made your mistake
being a puppet for some distant god who will use you as some sort of inlet, having your knowledge and life experiences be taken from you to be viewed like tv shows, when you die
they both suck ngl"
found it: #lore-discussion-spoilers message
basically: "you die, ascend, and become one with god""
.
and the addendum to me thinking that the sky being "too perfect" to live in
"well im wording it awfully
when you think about it, it's purely subjective yet likely subjectively ill just because "forever" just sounds so.... caged
it sounds like the loss of morals, of importance, of meaning
everything could be contained within forever, but nothing could fill it
so to talk about a dance of energy and mass that remains the same, forever, seems awful, to us as finite beings, because it'd supposedly, eventually, feel so empty
but it's something only someone who learns to be a part of that forever, could understand
someone who has already transcended death
someone who is tired, and wants to rest, and be in the arms of the Others
that's why i think, from our human perspective, my take on the Light is so grueling, but from the perspective of beings who went through war and pain and suffering and complex emotion when they were supposed to be drops of Light in an endless sea, i think
i think they'd want to rest"
"Blue and Orange Morality is a general term for a type of morality/moral system that is so alien to humans that we can't peg the user of that morality as "good" or "evil"."
--Fruity
I feel like this explanation ignores the concept of rebirth that's inherent to both Sky and Journey.
that's why i later speculated that Megabird may be a collectivist hivemind rather than a conformist hivemind. you don't inherently or even have to lose your individuality within Megabird, Megabird is the penultimate sum of all beings who were once separate and now join a part of it.
I like to think that the Megabird is the entirety of the universe. It has a poetic tone in that "we are all but stardust", which rings as literal for Ancestors.
And as a consciousness, it is so multitudinous and incomprehensible as to not be any kind of force, active or passive, in the grand scheme of things.
I forgot how "busy" the Elders OOB is. I've got three of those fancy no-mask players blocking my screenshots.
how so?
as I've said before to others who have said the same thing, the concept of rebirth applies as a flat-one-and-done theme used only for skids and the Journey of the Moth
i really dont believe ancestors were meant by the Light to stay in the kingdom, and that they fell on accident, or rebelled once
we only rebirth as a way to grow stronger and pursue further and further into the storm
light creatures 'rebirth' but they are more reminiscent of a natural cycle while the skid's cycle represents fee significant journeys
deviating from Megabird is the ideology of the cancer cell that deviates from the will of the Body.
indeed, ive always gotten that vibe from it, which is why i personally dislike when the megabird is personified and characterized
can i quote you on that message?
This is a very, and please excuse my language, western take on rebirth. Rebirth does not indicate growth. It is a facet of life. Beings are born, grow old, and die. Rebirth is not a mechanism to serve any purpose. It simply exists as fundamental to the universe.
And yes, you may. I'm flattered, thank you.
REALLY. Is kissing censored?
well yes, of course it's a western take
im trying to empathize with how Sky was written, im not looking at it from a general perspective of philosophy, just what exactly was the likely stereotypes and themes that the devs INTENDED to shape Sky with
and they are western writers.. in the west
stereotypically, thematically:
creatures of Light flow like water out of the Light and across the realms only to evaporate back up to it then rain down again across the galaxy
ancestors are abnormalities, not being creatures of light, but special humanoid beings of light, likely not intended to even exist, they probably don't and didnt 'rebirth'
skykids did it as a thematic narrative as a moth, which was beautiful and powerful, and they continue to do it afterwards for general strength and closer connection to the Elders
.
im sad to hear it's western that it works that way, but it does, so we have to approach it western, lapis
so in the end, im afraid you'll have to accept that the way Sky uses the word 'rebirth' is an absolute butchering of the term, and was used prolly just cos it sounds cool...
Oooo
oh wow, jam, you just blew my mind
huh
i could use Tom Zhao's concept art as visual aid here, but it would be too much work. But basically it does make a point to show that Ancestors are not creatures of light.
This made me thing that mayhaps Ancestors are just Dark Creatures, not part of the Megabird Life Rain Cycle. They were never meant to ascend. But they did force their way into Orbit, bringing their higher intellect with them, effectively tainting the Megabird with their thoughts/emotions.
From this tainting, the Sky Kids are born, beings that are a mixture of the Creatures of Light and the Ancestors.
Ancestors:
i will admit, there is ONE tom zhao concept that argues against what i just said; it does say both ancestors and creatures died and were reborn as a natural everlasting cycle
however, im fairly sure this image and text is one of the few parts of the timeline that are mostly irrelevant now
creatures have changed a LOT since then
Though that makes you wonder, where is the concept art for reborn ancestors? Surely a reborn ancestor looks at least a bit different from pre-reborn?
hmm, i still think they originally came from the Light, it's just that in their kingdom they became prideful and they distanced themselves from the Light, making them spiritually weak, just shells
lapis was muted.....
Oh NO
UPDATE I have punched GOD ITSELF into submission and stolen all its murals too. Itās late so mural doc will be updated tomorrow with vault, home, and Eden
this could still work
Ancestors being intelligent dark creatures, instead of just mindlessly eating light, they philosophize about it, and start worshipping fire.
they move to Eden to die. and Ascend through Sky Burial.
I need to check my sources, but I remember one that said Light Creatures eat light.
OH ALSO I NOTICED SOMETHIJG NEWT
edem boats have the symbol for darkstone instead of actual darkstone??
Sky pictorial for "Allan please add darkstone slots"
hmm
the reason i am so confident they are still beings of Light but not creatures is because they say they need to return home, not just get to the megabird in general
they state that it already was their home, and that they came from it, and must go back
that's why i dont think they were creatures in the world that just existed
wdym?
ALSO CONGRATS ON THE MURALS I'M PROUD OF YOU

So instead of having darkstone actually inset into the boats, they have the diamond symbol for it. You can see the same diamond symbol representing āplace where darkstone is refinedā in forest temple, second area of wasteland, and treasure reef
so we have an actual symbol we are sure means "diamond refinery here"??
that's really useful!!
but... what does that mean for that boat
Also I noticed this odd star conglomerate in orbit constructed similar to the bridge thing you can walk on, but you phase through it. Itās hard to see it in this image but the way it moves marks it as different from the backdrop. It looks like two spires although I am not sure what itās supposed to mean??
Yeah, thatās the weird part. Outside of this boat, that specific symbol painted in that way only appears in the areas I mentioned. Diamonds are almost everywhere, but the specific symbol Iām talking about looks literally identical to the picture shown, down to the outside square, the triangles in the corners, the size, and the paint color
Additional fun fact is that the conditions of the room right before you enter the storm have made it so very little of the blue paint accents have chipped away, showing a glimpse of what everything looks like painted
Exactly!
I am sure the Abyss boat could have looked amazing!
For those who saw whatvit looked like in the beta, surely the older version was more impressive than the current Abyss boat.
To be frank, the current boat looked like a slap dash job to me. 'Just grab a boat, scale it up and add some decorations and call it a day'
Especially when comparing it to the oldee version. Sure the old on did not have the jars, bookshelves or the gun. But surely one could have spent more time on making the focal point of a whole season look better than a ship that was given to a spirit.
Even if the accountant's boat is wrecked, it looked more interesting than the abyss ship.
And while adding the gun and jars are cool, it is not a good enough excuse for the boat being downgraded like that.
Why did they change the Abyss boat?
Also quick photo of petrified skykid in an attempt to compare the formation and color of the crystals sprouting out of it to unrefined darkstone. Color seems to match exactly and formation is similar to the above ground crystals the abyss spirits collect. Not sure what to do with this information
I wish I knew.
can you show me the old one
This mechanism looks very suspiciously like the vault one... but the thing sleeping below, is it a krill or a good fish?
We have no idea...
there's actually a spiral staircase you can climb that sits besides those spires that has a bench at the top of it
kinda random, kinda cool
I know about the staircase, but are the spires supposed to be a part of it??
you're a genius, mural boss
Did you know there's a secret skykid constellation in orbit? The area where you get wl
fr the boat is so damn lazy, what the heck happened to the other boat???
I also saw a massive statue with a very odd thing on its back as I was flying to orbit, but the wind kept slamming me into the statue so I couldnāt get a good picture. It looked kind of like a steering wheel, but I couldnāt tell due to aforementioned repeated statue bonking
Sure.
Source: https://youtu.be/71xwgg-jPnI
Same refinement symbol. This example is located in forest temple
whoaaa
was that in beta??
when did it change in beta?
the hell
HO. LY. FRIGG.
COME ON.
if that didn't make it, imagine the cool stuff stuck in concept limbo that we can't even see
Unrelated but have the rocks/darkstone that rain down on you in Eden gotten worse for anyone else?? Lost 5 WL to a single cascade of them. Canāt tell if this is new or if I just havenāt noticed it before
Also noticed that thereās a water sound between when you leave the area with the spirits and enter orbit which is Odd
I think it's random. using calls to stand up helps mitigate it
Above a certain threshold of total wl, you lose more. I've lost 5 at 120-150, but only lose 1 or so below 50.
So my internet dies in the middle of spirituality talk, Lapis was muted, guessed weāre getting too close to unveiling the reality of god?
They buffed the stones in an attempt to resolve the complaint of veterans not dying quickly enough
Lapis was muted for helping me beat up both the vault elder and Megabird. Sounds odd but itās true
Anyways hereās Cannoneerās harpoon
Lapis got muted for making political jokes, I wasn't here either but some people here lack common sense
Now see.
Imagine that and maybe consider plaving down the props from the current boat on that ship. (Myabe below deck I suppose).
Even if rhe devs have to budget the vertex count with removing the net.
I feel bad for the artists that made this fantastic ship.
It will not be forgotten!
Quite large. I think you need 2 skykids just to wield it
Big ship will always be canon in my heart
All to ensure the skids canāt use it
The moth with me is tiny while my skykid is near max height
F to pay respects to Commodore's Sword and the BETA ship
At least a sixth of said max height is due to acorn hat
Beta ship and Commodoreās sword will be canon in my skyfic, donāt you worry
Commodore has a sword, they just don't want us to ask for it when trading.
Sometimes you gotta disregard what the devs say because of the rule of cool. I think the geezer deserves a sword.
okay but legit IT WAS THERE, IT WAS READY, IT FITS WITH THE QUESTS; WHAT THE HELL TGC
AAAA WHY DIDNT WE GET TO OPEN MEMORY CUBES IN LIVE
AAA
Memory cubes?
Oh dear i had beta before ( like a year ago ) but quit it. Now i regret my decision
WAS THE SWORD IN BETA TOO???????
THIS
Oh that is awesome as hell. Did you see the old home as well? And old isle was so beautiful
IDK BUT IT WAS OLD
Forgive me for the stupid question but which one is commodore again?
the one with the braided beard
Rest in peace
Daylight prairie, village chat boat
Old Dawn island ruins
Pouty Porter's boat memory
Forest quarry
Valley races
Old Wasteland city beside a massive Megabird carving in the mountain's base.
Old Vault murals and projections of King fighting a creature
Blue eden
Elder bird in flight season
Coral Sea Turtle
True Abyss ship
Commodore's sword
umm no.
they got muted for saying the word regarding pretty and tall skykids smh
what makes you think it was... whatever you just said...?

like wh- bru
Never forget
dad** commodore.......

Should I accept their old sword as confirmation that ancestors need smaller swords and the ones in wasteland are too big for them or should I hold back on that, considering it got nerfed
Skybot automatically removes messages with that word, and if you send a picture like I did in the memes chat, the mods just tell you why they deleted it, no mute.
UR OLD

Fun fact, look at the help section of the season. You will see that same image instead of the other one XD
The sword made it somehow. It is shame the commodore cannot have it in the game though.
Oh gosh the valley races. Those looked awesome. I think the old forest with the dark stones looked better too...
The start sequence of eden in live does seem better than beta eden though, but the part where in beta you don't just light random skykids, but actually light up your friends... that would've really been worth keeping
Funny thing is the version with the sword is still the one they are using in game for the info iap screen
What word?
huh?
they literally told me in dms the exact message they sent as they were muted, and the message was about alasdair lapis and i's religion discussion: they had said many many words that were muted and apparently the bot had had enough with this word, which again, was [pretty and tall skykid]
where are you getting this politics thing from?
Rather ask for that in dms.
Some of the trigger words are silly.
Geezer sword canon !

Alright
We should have a server or group DM for when skybot goes rogue
is it that big in the memory btw?
seems smaller when they hold it, can someone affirm either or pls
Mea culpa, upon checking I confused this with another mod intervention.
iirc it does seem big but not that big in Cannoneerās memory.
Iāll check my pics. Canāt play Sky cos internet said die
o olay
my bad too, sorry for the discrepancy
I still think people should be more careful about what they joke about here though, I sometimes get appalled by what goes on here.
I mean, Cannoneer is taller than even the tallest skykid, so it might seem smaller in Cannoneer's hands.
You'd need at least 2 skykids just to hold the harpoon
Memory
hmm
it def looks smaller....
I guess use a skykid's height to compare
It do be long
Looks like even our dear Cannonneer almost loses balance due to the recoil.
the details hoho
Psst if you ever see me making jokes like that, let me know. Donāt mean it but I am really oblivious to alternate interpretations (as shown when I called the elders fruits and everyone thought I was making an inappropriate joke)
I'm back: A Dinosaur story.
just in time for Cannoneer stanning
Cannoneer, Blazing Sovereign
Salem, you're cool, I love you from the bottom of my heart. You're not part of the problem.
Cannoneer shot the censor and freed me from my bonds. They shot me too afterwards, but totally worth.
Thank you!! Got really worried for a second and donāt want to be That Kind of Person so
So you don't have one of your eyes anymore?
No, they made sure to specifically shoot me in the heart. No one ever said being a Canonneer stan was easy.
Ouch. ouuuuuuugurugeughehdgh
I think they just hate you specifically. They just high-fived me
You've been marked. They're coming for you later.
I don't think Cannoneer would shoot a skykid
You're right. No, they left my sky kid alone. They came for me personally.
of course sleep tone turns on whilei'm ediitng photos
@tulip aspen Anyway, I was mulling it over, and I think I went a bit overboard with the western remark. I have strong opinions on reincarnation, but that's something I need to keep in check.
Hereās another shot.
in hindsight, not a good shot of the harpoon cos part of it is in the wall.
Rest well, Salem
I hope you'd tell me if I ever did anything to offend. I can be overbearing at times in my zealousness.
You can DM me as well if you'd like to say something privately.
I'm not a mod, just asking people to think before they joke about heavy topics.
Sorry for my hostile tone, I meant it to be more like a warning than a threat.
Moving on, I'd rather not dwell on the topic, just got you confused with someone else.
No worries. Happens to the best of us.
Eden gate looks like Isle gate.
Even got the gates mural above it
The end meets the beginning, the ouroboros' jaw closes in on its tail, and the cycle is about to restart.
The central carving looks just like the King.
Idk how more blantant king you can get
The statues in GW would like to have a word with you.
Yea, youāre right
Cannoneer mightāve piloted one of these if they lived during the war
Are there cannons in the game like the one in the office ?
Cannoneer literally shot a drawing of King (not really but I couldn't help but bring up the joke)
No, no cannons in game other than the Office. Maybe that one was a model they intended to use but decided otherwise?
I was thinking how in Zhaoās concepts these were called turrets so technically a cannon. Iām just wondering why they are āCackling Cannoneer.ā
One of the questions I had Jam ask in the Abyss QnA post is literally "Can Cackling Cannoneer actually use a cannon?"
You know that once scene in Doom Eternal, where Doomguy shoots himself from the BFG 10K? Yeah, that, except from the king turret and while laughing.
Guessing yāall got no answer to that
The QNA's a video that hasn't been released yet, they just released the place where you can ask questions on twitter
yeah same here @rigid mural, we would never intentionally do it knowing we weren't allowed to
we all push limits sometimes, but we're also all mature enough to just silently acknowledge on our own when something happens, so it'd be cool to hear if we ever say something like that cos ofc we adapt
They can use a harpoon.
So that and their name suggests they know how to use weapons.
Is that a harpoon or something?
I love this idea. Cackling Cannoneer is the Doomguy of Sky.
Now give them a chainsaw.
not like the one in office, but there are king statues with cannons sticking out of their torsos above the wasteland temple, it's kinda cool
Hehe, Doomsky Eternal.
Would a skykid addicted to candle running be called a wax zombie?
Against all the darkness the King can muster. Against all the evil Ancestor-kind can produce, we will send unto them only you.
Shoot and harpoon, until it is done.
(The only thing the fear is you, played on sky piano, begins)
oh wow i didn't know 80% of the fanbase are or were wax zombies
Two brave skykids carry the harpoon together, one to aim, and one to shoot. Will they succeed in their krill-exterminating operation?
i will ride the harpoon into the mouth of the krill and slay it from the inside
do krills even have mouths? And if so, do they even lead anywhere, considering they're all bone?
This is Sky canon now. Forget that nonsense about regret, rebirth, and the Light. The game has always been about Cackling Cannonneers singular mission to destroy all the Krills and Darkness in the world. With their harpoon gun.
no they dont i was just still being bloodlusty from the doom jokes
As long as both of them are either chibis or not.
I'd think having one or the other be a chibi would only give hilarious results.
the real protagonist has arrived
The gun shoots the chibi while they are on fire.
Nope.
Just mandibles under that sharp glowing nose.
I think the aimer (front) would be tall, and the shooter (rear) would be smol.
Doom x Sky talk killed my internet again
Thry just want tk the the one with the most diamonds on their expeditions š š¹ š·
Please stop mentioning me on that message, I would rather that topic stays where it is. Yeah I'm vocal so of course I butt heads when I deem it necessary, but all I'm asking is for people to think, not to seek my approval. If you didn't make any offensive joke in these past 48 hours, you are not concerned by what I said.
We stan Cackling Cannonneer, love that funny spirit. Unhinged and powerful.
oh yeah i was talking about in general fam, just about any message any of us might say
i really
didn't imply anything about myself
reading back ig i could see how you think i did, so sorry that you felt offended
the force from the gun would eject a chibi into orbit, no death and ascending needed
Anyway, boat with the gold diamonds in them, noice
Did you see any crabs nearby?
Cannoneer doesnāt need to yeet a skykid, their weapons can do it for them
In abyss ? They are near the sunken carts next to this area yes. Though they don't go on land.
crabs are really dense
iirc there are no crabs in Starlight Desert
I am still a very firm believer that crabs are diamonds that have been left alone too long, and the light transforms the diamond into a living being.
don't overbake diamonds. or else they come to life and start biting your face off.
The ancestors have created life! Itās a rabid football
The Forgotten Ark mural shows this. The one in the caves. I'd summon Salem, but mural machine is recharging right now.
Oooh. Oh my.
yknow since yāall mentioned it, I have noticed that crabs only are around those golden containers. The one except would be in the area in front of the broken temple in GW and that boat in Starlight Desert
In GW, they are around pipes
They haven't hatched yet.
so pipes and gold containers
Hmm, other exception would be weird Eden room but that might be pipes
Crab for context
I can just imagine crabs being birthed from pipes going pop pop pop
Popcorn
Crab-birthing pipe cannon
Anywhere where power diamonds are left alone for too long. Usually near or in water.
Thatās the canon Cannoneer used
reading back a little: they mightāve changed the boat to fit the āvikingā theme of the characters. the shape of it resembles a Nordic knarr vessel. tho i loooove that big fancy ship
aw, heck.
Too bad the abyss ship does not have a mast
or a flag, ship's wheel, upper deck, captain's quarters, a net, an anchor or even a hull for that matter.
or a flag, ship's wheel, upper deck, captains's quarters, flag post, a net, an anchor or even a hull for that matter.
That's not a boat, that's just a wild rock that they found swimming about near their old home and so they decided "Y'know what, lets tame that beast and leave this filthy pile of dirt and grass." And so they did.
The boat is actually a big crab /j
i mean hey! who needs a steering wheel when you can fly with magic diamond power
I know this is a joke, but I feel like sharing the fact that enchantment crabs are probably the biggest crabs in the game. Let me try to find the picture(s)
Here they are, ranging from the tiniest crab I've documented to the most massive crab I've documented.
ThatSkybot please don't delete this again, there's literally nothing wrong with it.
Do you mean the ones getting barbecued in the graveyard?
Or do you mean the biggest living crabs?
So basically 90% of the stuff
yup.
Basically, when the abyss ship is going through budget cuts.
Living, you monster.
(Joke)
This is how we got the big pillow measurement system.
How do skids perceive time? Do they even have the concept of time? What about the ancestors? Does time exist, or is it just a different looking atmosphere due to the surrounding wild life or air? If it does exist, how does it work in sky?
I have now laid out the ground works for the season of time.
i mean, even on earth, time technically isn't tied to where the sun is
Time is relative in Sky.
Every 2 hours, there is an event like the geyser in sanctuary island and Granny's meals that take place 30 mins after.
The skykids get to rest every day to collect wax effectively.
Eden's final area resets every 7 days.
And there are the seasons as well as days of events.
While most of these can be chalked up to game mechanics to encourage players to play the game more often (daily).
There are some lore implications that can support the fact of Sky having time. In addition to the possibility of it being caught in a time loop.
The realms represent a stage of life, as well as a time of day (with the exception to Hidden Forest and Eden).
Their old names were as follows: Dawn, Day, Rain, Sunset, Dusk, Night and Storm.
The realms even reflect on these times as the skykid progresses through them. As the skykid travels towards the temple, the day progress with them. When teh skykid backtracks, the days would also revert to their earlier times. You can see this effect in Dawn as you fly over the starting area and head towards the temple, as well as when you fly above the dream village towards the coliseum (Valley's temple).
While Hidden Forest and Eden are less obvious, there is still a shift in atmosphere as the skykid reaches certain points in the realm. This not only sets the mood in every point of interest, it may also imply a change taking place by the skykid progressing through the realms.
what are those golden diamond blocks and what purpose do they serve
I wonder, would there be a hidden meaning if every realm had a detail that sets them apart from the others?

Dawn - The smallest realm.
Day - The realm with the most creatures
Forest - The only realm with rain
Valley - The coldest realm
Wasteland - The most toxic realm (dark water)
Vault - The only indoor realm
Eden - The most windy realm
Do you mean the butterfly jars?
They used to store energy the ancestors used to power the darkstone diamonds, and/or large mechanisms.
They could have been a primitive version of the darkstone diamonds, which were repurposed to being used to charge the darkstone diamonds
ohhh thank you! I thought they were like batteries because i saw them in boats alot
not sure how i found this message, but salem would win instantly with their spear queer spear research of spears for spears about spears
Like I said, they are like batteries since they can hold light. There is one that can be seen in the forest temple, being used to power the golden mechanism.
But they are perhaps too bulky to be used in other things, like boats, switches, levitating platforms etc.
I believe they could be compared to ancient batteries in real life, such as the Baghdad batteries.
Baghdad batteries were ceramic pot with a copper and iron rod inside. An acidic liquid would be poured in the pot and would produce a small amount current.
According to the Mythbusters, Baghdad batteries are not very strong. There was an episode where they were experimented with Baghdad batteries in the Ark of the Covenant. They concluded to the batteries are not able to produce a noticeable shock.
In Sky however, it might be theoretically possible that the ancestors used light orbs or butterflies to fuel their batteries with light energy. But the jars were to weak and too big to generate the amount of power they needed. Hence why when they discovered Dark stone being able absorb light. They could have used the jars to charge the diamonds, and then use them in their inventions.
ohhhh that is very cool!!!!! seem like they use while stronger method it seem to be very harmful instead of the light creatures that is more environment friendly
I just like how Sky draws inspiration from real life ancient history, but manages to do so that looks like pure fantasy. That is a type of art I enjoy š
I'm going to sleep now, but not before I infect lore chat with mind worms:
There are no wheels in Sky. Ancestors never invented them.
Good night.
Challenge accepted
Have TGC made one hair thingie bigger than the other ?
it could be a perspective thing. It is hard to tell with the difference angles.
I know, but even by comparing them like this, the left one seems to have bigger hood/shoulder thingie while smaller hair bum. Maybe devs made the one in Home later and remodelled abit
Like there are many lamps in Vault and Wasteland but each seems unique compared to other.. is a riddle
maybe.
one shaving cream dollop is bigger than the other
Btw nice comparison with that IRL relic!
I sometimes thing they could be a little big better than a battery. Maybe they are accumulator/amplificator, after all we use just a small flame to lit Forest Elder shrine/tomb and it seems its energy get multiplied to be able to move that giant golden dinamo on the roof (which maybe with all the "accumulator" embedded in it was able to move)
Now that I thing about it, even the golden plate to lift the altar have 8 squares around the crystal we ignite, so maybe it could be a smaller scale dynamo. Each one of the 8 (like each embedded one) works like a magnet in the giant dynamo coil)
Sort of like this @nimble ingot
The thing is the elevator goes straight up, it does not spin. It would be fun if it does though lol.
Though I get what you mean. It would be cool of mechanism would be powering other mechanisms like that.
just an accidental coincidence, but the devices used for levitating things in Valley of Triumph does spin
The full love story is writting itself

Another peaceful day in the lorehouse...
The platform that goes away to let SKating Girl perform?
the ones on the floor under most things that are floating.
it's more visible in that Planetarium area.
can anyone tell me the background of each realms in the past?
where does that happen? :0
these things here (circled in yellow), they are spinning
ohhh right
The ancestor's celestial lazy suzans
the fact our sky kid can straight up hug the king implies they were friends before, and had leveled their friendship enough to unlock the hug emote.
We hug spirits who we have befriended through interactions and trading
exactly, hugs symbolize you have developed a friendship with the person. it comes after leveling it.
I wonder if the dark child is really a skykid, or just a child of darkness (no light or soul)
And the light kid could be child of light similar to the one in the ushering stargazer's memory, and perhaps a fragment or aspect of a skykid.
Either way, I find the scene interesting as the hug interaction is not forced. The dark side is offering the hug and the light half can accept it.
Hugging can symbolise acceptance, an embrace, forgiveness or even sincere love.
Once to two opposites come together (which I am sure @rustic heron might find it reminiscent of a moment Steven universe), a enlightened skykid appears.
That type of glowing is more intense than the spell effect. Perhaps for the reason the skykid is not just glowing, instead in that moment, they are made of light.
Lastly, our skykid only return to their original appearance when they reach Orbit.
Whether it suggests the body is formed/finallised in Orbit, or the light shifts and reveals the skykid's appearance is up for debate.
Well, there's that theory that skykids are King fragments...
relevant concept art
that looks like how home originally looked back in Light Awaits.
Except it seems like it was always bright and did not seem to have a city in the distance.
Still a cool piece of concept art
deleted lore? oops
oh dead god, what did I say wrong
anyways, I said it is cool that concept art has the "king" symbol, of the united lights.
and that I wasn't looking at my switch, and re1ncarnated in the starlight desert
ah, found your problem.
dont say what the 'heck'
I thought we could... like a couple days ago
metadata reveals a keyword for that image : Mental space
nice. it is also where the elders can be seen.
(sends to Jam)
I suppose it is a swear word
in orbit, yes.
I am not sure if the were in that area in person before,
There thrones/shrines were as portals though.
at least the Isle Elder that is. they are in this vast field of shallow water, like both the Eden scene and the Orbit scene
when I first played through the game and had no idea about any lore at all, my impression of the themes in this scene were forgiveness
the way we see somebody sitting down absent of light surrounded by darkness, wholly alone, and then we offer them a friend, to let them know it's okay, you're not alone here in the dark, I forgive you
and then that is what lights up your skykid in the end (in my mind)
I always thought "light" in this game was symbolic for love, hope, forgiveness, and friendship? So the fact that we're made of light always symbolized that we're made of hope and love, and sharing hope and love (since doing so is our purpose) brings us to a higher and more attuned sense of self
that was my take on it in my first playthrough, thought i'd share ^^
hi lore discussion, i have a random question
So im writing a story where thereās a few things to keep in mind before going into it; seasons are seperated into tribes, each with their own leaders, and the concept of murder is now spreading around, being able to be done with blunt force or darkness.
My question is I donāt know how to incorporate spirits or eden at all, do yall have any ideas?
You can entertain the idea that the spirit world is not as separated as people once thought.
Assuming your story also accepts that a spirit does not move on and instead stays behind. Perhaps the souls of the depareted could stick around either because they are not done with what they wanted to do in life. Or they want justice for their deaths.
Thats a good idea, but that may not work because I have it so that whenever a skykid ādies,ā their body breaks into pieces that can become darkness, or dark creatures, usually crabs. But then the existence of spirits wouldnāt quite make sense, so maybe I could make it so that if you donāt do something after a skykid dies they donāt become a spirit. Iāll think about it a little.
Alright.
Perhaps this might help.
I am not sure if you consider ancestors and skykids to be the same.
If so, then you can say not all ancestors/skykids return as spirits. As some souls might not make it as a spirit and instead dies off. (which is sad)
If not, the a skykid that is aligned to the ancestors would adopt more of their qualities, which may include them gaining a soul. That in turn may suggest a skykid spirit is not only uncommon, but also implies that skykid spirit is aligned with the ancestors.
The same logic would fhen apply to skykids that align themselves with light creatures, dark creatures etc.
Hope this helps.
That.. actually really helps, thank you so much!
where do the winged lights come from...
Itās theorized that they are imprints of the first skykid
I think the original concepts or ash(?) said this as well
I sure never saw anything that said that. But I believe it. Sounds right.
Oh, I thought they were like. divine light fragments or something, that sounds a lot better tbh
So, one of the discussions that me and Jam were having earlier concerned the notion of whether reincarnation occurs for all beings.
We see that some spirits can come and go from the world. These same spirits can gift you winged light, after which they disappear. We donāt really know where these spirits go, but we do know they show up in Orbit, which is indicative that they participate in the cycle.
What of the other spirits who donāt return? I like to think that some of them come back, but as light creatures. Light creatures are venerated in some parts of Sky (like in Prairie), so it may be that light creatures are reincarnations of Ancestors.
Which makes the abuse and manipulation of light creatures all the worse.
I believe the world of Sky is caught in a time loop. Where the series of events can be relived in a cycle.
While on the one hand it is a game play feature for players to be able to relive past events, as well as explain why newer players can experience the same events older players have in the past. On the other, the concept of time in the realms are not consistent.
For example, The Sanctuary island is permanently set to midday, and yet the geyser goes off every two hours.
Perhaps the reason why some spirits return is because they do not wish to pass on for good. And those that do, perhaps do not have a reason to comeback.
Yeah I think spirits rebirth. But the way they did it isnāt what they doing now. They are holding back on reincarnating to teach the new babies and make loads of candle cash
I keep forgetting where āspirits Shepard lightā came from but if we all remember it, I can use it anyway. I think it means spirits fill with light (like how they change color when you red candle em) and then they take it to orbit when they die. They where supposed to do it naturally at the ends of their lives.....but the disaster made the end of their lives all happen at similar times :/
We double highfived ev3n strangers from Gratitude
I remember reading somewhere that the permanent time for each realm isnāt indicative of any time stop.
If you think about it, we progress through all the realms as theyāre all connected to each other, and the time of day changes along our journey. You could think of the whole trip to Eden taking about 1 full Sky fay, from dawn to the middle of the night.
Agreed.
Like I said, it is relative.
Relative to the skykid progressing through the realm. Essentially when the skykid is stationary, the day would not progress for them and time seems to have stood still. But the actuality is time is still ticking, it just does not look like it from an individual skykid's perspective
Iām sorry but this idea is painfully sweet. even if theyāre making big bucks along the way
Hey guys! Could someone please tell me about the Eden King or Elder Alef?
the king or Eden Elder was the ruler of the Sky kingdom. the king might've been an ancestor who rose to power or, more likely, was Chosen One, the proto-skykid seen in Stargazer's memory who completed the trials. they might be the same as the prince Alef who had been crowned king and changed their name to Resh or the king and prince ā Alef and Resh ā were separate beings. do note that their names are not canon but fanon.
the king doesn't really show up in game, though in Tom Zhao's concept art, the king had an instrumental role in the game's story, being the one who discovered darkstone and approved of darkstone tech despite the problems it caused. they probably went mad with power or was a child who had several mental breakdowns a day due to the responsibility put on them. the king was supposed to be a corrupted boss the players would confront while climbing Eden. despite not being as present in the game as during concept development, their symbolism is present throughout the game:
see also darkstone crown drove them mad: #lore-discussion-spoilers message
For some reason I really liked the thought of once Sky kids and the ancestor spirits being alive at the same time
But do to whatever happened in Eden (*The capital?) it caused the rest of the realms hurt and the ancestor spirit dead and the Skykids, forgot their memories of the past.
Just my little thoughts
No longer physically in the game. But still the lore basically revolves around him.
Just curious, do you want to include the leaked stone king or rather leave it out due to how it was discovered?
1- i am a total lore glutton and am so excited at all the theories popping up every time i peep this chat
2- everyone who has compiled documentation and the pins, I love you for all your hard work
3- has anyone chatted about the crabs lore yet? š¤ I can't remember where I read the official quote but a dev said there's a specific reason they move the way they do that relates to their creation... my brain is full of crab thoughts
4- on the time loop thing someone just said, i read somewhere else (cant site this either soz) that the tower is possibly more a projection chamber of memories being relived with the activation of crystals rather than all real - but what if it's ALL a repeated memory to a degree? We see the echoes of spirits past, but players see various Seasons realms at different levels of 'completed' depending on how many quests they've completed as well right?
Crabs are fermented power stones, and are often found near golden containers, which are presumed to be casings for charged power diamonds. They are also found near pipes and water, but presumably thatās because power diamond creation makes a lot of waste.
It sits above the 6 Elder statues. Some call theses statues graves, but I tend to disagree with that.
The placement of the castle also vaguely resembles the Kingās crown.
I am one of the folks that brought up the time theory (I can look up who else also shared the idea if need be).
About the time repeated mega memory, I like that idea. Would it be the king's memory, or the megabird's memory? Could it be both, or even their legacy? So many questions!
The season seem to be the only noticeable indication of progress.
As new seasons come out, new spirits are revealed to be saved.
Whether it is the megabird, or even the work of the skykid and ancestors working together, these small changes will eventually build up to something.
What that something could be, only Time can tell.
Perhaps even the prince's? If he's possibly the light we hug at the end
We're fixing what he can't because he's no longer with a body
According to patch notes back when the castle was broken (not canonically, it was a ingame bug). It was called a floating ruin.
While it can still be considered to be a castle in the sky, it is now in ruins due to the strom.
Normal ancestor height vs sword height using the torch as a reference point. You can probably see why Iām skeptical about the swords being used by ancestors here.
Spears are more reasonable because theyāre supposed to be super long but swords???
Some (aka me) believe that the being you hug at the end is yourself, if Skykids are just fragments of the king.
Some (also me) prescribe by the notion that the voice you hear in the intro is the kingās lingering regret, pleading us to unite the light that he never could.
This works even better if you consider the imprints of light as echoes of him everywhere - he's embedded in his memories of 'what was' and that's why they are in every stage. These memories were transferred into these fragments of himself (players) - we collect as we gather the lost elders/etc
Further comparison to the elders unreasonably massive spear. Realized only after taking this photo that I should have used outside spears instead as theirs is probably larger but then I couldnāt leave, and Iām too lazy to rerun wasteland all the way to the battlefield, so that comparison will come tomorrow
Where can we hear the king's voice in the intro??
Berserk would like to have a word:
If the comparison is right, GW swords are roughly twice as long as that one
Well, read, not hear. But still, itās unknown what this voice is. Some say Megabird, others (me) say the King. Still others say itās Isle Elder.
Do you think bots can think?
I donāt think you can actually hear the voice, you just see the text saying things in the intro. Thereās numerous videos of each intro on YouTube
The intro in Isle of dawn?
Yeah, the one you only get once, when you enter it for the first time
Cloud messenger is the song you get while youāre in orbit Iām pretty sure, Painting is the intro song
Ah, of course. Things come full circle. Sky is just a painting world in Super Mario 64.
Wacky wahoo Italian plumber is the one asking us to save peach from the King (of the koopas).
The image of it has been banned here before. I donāt want to risk my entire comp for it. But good suggestion anywho!
What is that?
fair enough š
Upside down building in the flying race (hi raider)
It's behind us, you can see my trail passes right under it.
They probably can. But you? Absolutely not. You have no mental capacity.
Can you DM me the picture? Itās okay if you canāt.
Also, I think it was already pointed out but belonging sigil on the dancing performer pipa.
Perhaps the belonging family were (at least partially) string instrument makers !
Beginning to wonder why these spirits canāt think of any shapes to describe themselves that donāt include a diamond
Like, do they know there are other shapes? Have they ever heard of a circle, or perhaps a square. Or even a trapezoid
Prairie Elder is a circle & depicted as such in the Prophecy murals lol
Does the prairie elder have a monopoly on circles or
Prairie Elder has circles trademarked
Nah some spirits are very round. Fire prophet for example.
Iām not entirely sure what that symbol represents but I think it may extend past belonging, you can see it on your skykidās shirt (unless thatās also related to the belonging family somehow?)
In all seriousness though, this is a really neat observation. I wasnāt playing during belonging so could be wrong, but donāt at least 2 of the belonging spirits (pleaful parent and hairtousle teen) have string instruments? + iirc no one else in the family has other kinds of instruments
Yeah pretty sure the two string instruments were the only instruments in belonging
Fair !
Fire prophet is just a rectangle. Once I saw their silhouette for ts and for a second thought it was a meme about someoneās refrigerator
What about the fat models that spirits like the refusing one have ? Pretty round too.
True, now THOSE are round (and greatly appreciated) although Iām not sure itās possible to beat prairie elders level of roundness
i really appreciate the body size diversity of the spirits, great job tgc
Prairie Elder is the roundness elder, with round spirits as their disciples.
Absolute Unit Elder
Where's the concept art of Ayin looking like
wait what were the names of the elders again? I only rember Vault Elder aka Cassiopeia
note that these are names from concept development that are no longer canon but the community uses them anyways.
Isle Elder āĀ Daleth
Prairie Elder ā Ayin
Forest Elder ā Teth
Velley Elder(s) ā Samehk
Wasteland Elder ā Tsadi
Vault Elder ā Lamed
ooo all very mystical kinda vibe!!
they're the names of Hebrew letters
There are no wheels in Sky. Ancestors didnāt invent them.
here u go
THANK YOU
Hey, don't put that artist near me.
Like seriously, they drew some really offensive stuff iirc
Iām so sorry. My restraint is next to 0.
Anyway slumbering shipwright's memory having a butterfly leading them to bed ? Headcanon butterflies are Prairie Elder's messengers.
Thats creepy. The butteryfly is his friend/pet
not his handler
???
what did i come back to
The butterfly is his life coach.
For ayin to control his subject via butterfly spies
who needs ancestor spies when you got butterflies
Nooooo thats horrifying!
Like morpho knight
Hey everyone could someone show me pictures of the King? Thanks!
Haha, butterflies merge with miffs to make moff-o knight.
source: kamilico
What if the Prairie Elder not being able to be everywhere decides to send butterflies to watch over their people. Maybe shipwright's butterfly was Ayin's way of going "Hey. You should go to bed."
I have already seen that pic but there's still more?
there's a lot of fanart on tumblr
seeing the capes move when we pose or move makes me think how they could also be living and moving on their own
like Doctor Strange's cape
Lol
also im sure if you look up 7 days of Sky or even Tom Zhao's website you can find king concepts
Thank youuuu
that character is like 7 feet tall tho šµāš«
could also be that the skykids are controlling the capes themselves
memes that (regrettably) won't die
My sense of humors is as sophisticated as Stone Age tools: plebeian and persisting.
is that indicative tho?
i dont think merely existing in Orbit implies being part of the cycle
as fruity and i have said, maybe after becoming pure Light again they can take a form as a light creature and roam the worlds, but that's kinda it
as i said, ancestors are anomalous corporeals.
I really don't see them naturally partaking in the cycle as the form we know them as
it's controversial for some reason, but we're going to have to bring up the fingernail topic for debate eventually, preferably with everyone being remotely sane this time
thank you for this take, i loved hearing it
I'd rather not, this was a really bad time all over.
it's kinda imperative, everyone was implying they were highkey biological, it must be addressed eventually
not now of course, but we must later
eventually
Dude have you seen that convo, you guys were arguing over blurry pics. That was absolutely ridiculous.
i never argued with anyone vela, as I've told you
you're free to believe what you want
the absolute thematic of sky
you were threatening to call a mod over someone disagreeing with you
please leave me alone vela, i didnt ask to engage in whatever this is
Skykids having fingernails isnāt THAT weird, imagining someone making a human effigy with naked hands is more disturbing imo but. Not important
I didn't either but it's the second time you think I'm stupid and I'm losing my patience.
thats a fair point
BariJam.
That is not lore.
That is a question for a fanfiction.
Please leave it at that.
