There's actually a balance between light and darkness and both enabled each other and is the reason why ancestors were born physically into the world. Light is sentience, but has no solid form, darkness has no life, but exists as a rock solid form.

Stars fell because of darkness, and as a result, was born into the physical world and live their own lives as individuals until eventually dying and going back to the Light/Megabird.

The stars falling at the end of the Kingdom was linked to this, just gone terribly wrong and knocked out all the stars in the Sky that were supposed to be up there

I have a headcanon that families work like this: The many stars that compose Megabird are clustered in constellations. When those stars fall, the ancestors born from the same constellation are destined to eventually meet and have a found family-style bond.

I consider the basic Idea to be, elders where created to keep over the rebirth cycle, sky kingdom rose when prince fell and won the trials. He wants to use darkstone, darkness rises, stars fall, eden explodes, kingdom falls. If you keep to old intro, then the ancestors fell a little first but had enough left to keep civilization below going.

Yeah it’s probably the light/megabird, it mentions basically every other being that can talk as separate from itself, the ‘we’ pronouns are just because it encompasses literally everything.
The only other thing I could see it being is an ancient cotl who lived alongside spirits depending on how common ancient cotl were. It’s definitely not a spirit, it’s not an elder, so there are very few options left. The we pronouns threw me off for a bit but that was before I learned the light was… well… everything

My experience watching the intro was literally:
“Oh hi! I guess this a spirit. Wait it’s not a spirit… I guess it’s an elder. Wait it’s not an elder. Who is this???”

We know both skykids and ancestors came from the light, because they now need to return to it.

If ancestors aren't able to produce [as much|| light, as we can see they have a faint light signature when we stand by their spirit's||] light,
but came from the light as beings of light,
then that means something happened to them either after they fell, when they hit the ground, or the moment they separated from the Sky.
Something changed that wasn't supposed to happen with ancestors, and whether it was falling on accident or separating from the Sky on purpose, their physical forms came out weak and older compared to us.

We have no real evidence towards knowing which of the three possibilities is true regarding when they fell, but IF it is one of the last two, it shows that these small pieces of light that became the ancestors, were not ready to take on physical forms, and they came out weak, while the skykids came out strong, in planned forms.

Therefore, all of this might just help to solidly prove the skykids were sent with purpose, while the ancestors fell in an accident (or that they separated themselves from the Sky as fruity keeps reminding me is a possibility lol)

That may be up for debate.

On the one hand, the ancestors and/or elders depending on darkstone (or power diamonds) technology to progress as a civilisation. But in doing so, it disrupted the natural balance of light and darkness in the world.

Following the old lore (light awaits), the storm started brewing, light creatures became hostile and the ark crashed in eden, where a great explosion took place and corrupted nearby light creatures. Which brought us the dark dragons.
If the current lore had to follow a similar plot, then the ancestors/elder may have caused the fallout, though may have not intended for things to go out of hand like that.

z-fighting is another name for plane fighting in the digital world.
When 2 surfaces are on top of each other and the computer does not know which one to render first.
That causes this tearing or glitchy texture to appear until the surfaces separate.

This happens because in the digital world, everything is hollow, so anything can clip into anything (unless it is coded to behave otherwise such as not clip into things)
The image shows a red and blue square clipping into each other. So the computer knows they are in the same space and the squares are fighting to be rendered ontop of each other.

Yes!!! I love the bell crab spiders, I’m a little sad they can’t be in game. They look a lot more like golems to me than biological animals which seems to fit with the world in general, and the design is generally neat.
The only thing about it that makes me sad is that it implies earth prophets mask is a crab instead of a spider which knocks out the only reliable piece of evidence that spiders existed in the world of Sky

Well, it could always exist a middleman species. IRL there are regular spiders and even some which act a bit like crabs (with shells) or some with pincers.

Since we already see there are different kinds of mantas (which I assume are separated species, like the baby horned manta which Lightwhisperer saved, imho a baby of the 2 king/queen mantas in Sanctuary) and at least 2-3 kinds of birds (2D, 3D and the ones with gold head&tail) there is a good chance there are more than a single kind of the same familia of animals

About the Lunar Zodiac, there are many animals, 12 if I recall correctly, and about all of them, the only cute animal everyone would really love to have 😺 it's not in it

Funny story, I think there was supposed to be a race to cross a river to let the gods decide the order of the animals of the calendar

The mouse and the cat both were friends and since they're lazy or not good swimmers they allied with the bull to cross the river on his back.

The day of the competition the mouse didn't wake up the cat. So when the other river bank was near the tiny mouse jumped ahead and won.

The giant trebuchet spears and shields are confusing because while they do imply some sort of war happened, they’re just so big. The spears I believe are to harm giant light creatures like whales because they’re just too big to be used against people, but… they’re also way too big for people to use them. People wouldn’t even need something that big. Did they fight using giant mech suits or something???

Honestly the sheer size of the spears are why I doubt the civil war theory personally because it’s really hard to find weapons small enough to be used against people in general

Also keep in mind most of these weapons and shields seem to be made from heavy stone which makes their size and weight even more of an issue

I completely misremembered the size of the spears and shields; they seem? to be normal size, but it’s really hard to tell considering we’re like 2ft tall lol. My point about them probably not being to harm people still stands, though, because while looking them over, they have absolutely massive spear heads in comparison to their shaft, which is not needed and even counterproductive for using it against humans!

I needed a break from art commissions and so I quickly drew a sketch of one with some notes on what I thought was important. I did this with the intention of comparing the finished product to find its closest human counterpart in order to help find how it was meant to be used, but the spearhead is far too wide to be comparable to anything we’ve had. For context, a spearhead normally called “wide” is about half the width these things are at their base…
I was still able to get some important information from how they look in general, and here is my sketch:

I tried my best to get the proportions right, and if I’m right about the spearhead being stone (the way their edges are often chipped seems consistent with that) the front edge has to be extremely heavy. The stone(?) at the back end - honestly it seems more like fabric wrapped around the shaft to me — might be an attempt at balancing that out
I also noticed that the banner was only tied around the ends of abandoned spears. Tsadi’s spear doesn’t have one. I can’t help but wonder what they’re for…

For us? Probably not great at all, because the tip is made out of stone, which isn’t great at all when your opponents have cool things like iron, and the front is extremely heavy. The stone is honestly its main issue.
I’ve seen speculation that gravity is decreased in Sky which might make it more viable for combat… although it is very interesting to note that their weapons never evolved past the stone stage. This implies they had no one else to compete with (ie have war against) in order to need innovation in weapons

I might draw the swords later as well. They’ll be harder to get right because their tips are obscured from being plunged into the sand but their design is very interesting to me

So I am realizing I did the math a bit wrong with comparing it to normal human spearhead widths.

Normal wide human spearheads: 3-6 in / 7.62-15cm.
Wide sky spearheads… 2-3 ft or .6 to .9 m OR.. 91cm - 180cm.

That is how massive the difference is.
It’s important to note why spearheads have different widths. Small spearheads make small wounds but are better at penetrating armor. Large spearheads make obviously massive wounds but can’t penetrate through armor very well, leading to their common use to hunt big game.., see where I’m going with this?

and also Jam - I tried a variation of that idea by making my skykid stand next to Tsadi’s spear to compare, but ran into a problem… the spear was too tall to fit on the screen

OH I got so distracted by spears that I forgot to mention two other things I saw in golden wasteland today. The first is the sheer amount of king statues outside Tsadi’s temple area, which I never really noticed was the king before and it slightly funny because there’s like ten of them just… standing there menacingly

I find it really important to note that the spirits manifest in the water* in Orbit and not the more solid path between them. Referring somewhat to my idea as Megabird/Sky as a collective nonconformist hivemind, in that the spirits reunite with Megabird but retain their individuality — in this water, the spirits can be called forth.

There’s a concept of kalunga or “the Kalunga line” in various African and Black American cultures thats is the watery boundary between the living and the dead or also known as

an entire cosmological system that understood bodies of water to be bridges connecting the lands of the living and the realm of the dead.
You can see it in Langston Hughes’s poem [censored even though it’s not a swear, this is infuriating], where the water recalls hundreds of years of Black history.

I just noticed the bubbles escaping from them which makes it so much worse. My current theory is that skykids can repel water and other harmful things from their insides naturally by the same mechanism they use to control their own gravity, but corrupted water messes with that mechanism and doesn’t allow them to. However, they can’t hold this bubble for long. The bubbles you see are the result of the air pocket inside them slowly disintegrating, letting small air bubbles escape

This is the closest thing to an explanation I can muster right now as I have also just woken up

Metadata (the interesting stuff i pointed out, the rest is boring): what would be scribbled at the back of a picture if it were physical, in this instance to organise and find stuff more easily. usually confirms what is depicted, such as a specific place.

Datamining: cracking open a cold one the game to take a look at the files and code, very forbidden here. You could liken that to opening your toaster up to see how it works. Honestly not sure how one would do that to a game hosted on servers instead of a cardridge, though, but I digress.

The megamanta at that location seems to be a chauffer to the hotel on the cliffside/to the wind paths, maybe it kept everything stocked up XD

In the prarie, there’s an area on the water that intersects with its path, I believe you just get pushed out of the way. In the forest cave, if you find a way to get underneath the clouds, you can run into it there as well (I’ve only seen it on video)

Yes we noticed alot I cannot remember what were the mostly like theories here in Lore about those two, but in one of my ideas they could also be the same species

Why? The one in Sanctuary seems slimmer than the Whale and the head/helmet even a simple version of the Whale's one, so I thought it could be a younger one without fully developped horns on the helmet, mature enough to exit from the deepth. After all the Whales are quite meek and hardly pop out of hidding, mostly "swim" in clouds and I even see alot of jet coming out of the sea level around Sanc

But honestly could not be enough to tied them together, after all it has long tail (whales dont have either the yellow or those "feathers" on it) and longer lateral finns.
A counter argument could be that "elder manta" isn't fully developped and is going to get fatter with less long tail + finns, but I doubt it to be enough, to meet that "elder" looks more huge than an average whale (like the skeleton on Forest). So it could even be a completely different creature.
The water jets could be infants playing underwater... but its an island full of water jet even from geysers, so the latters cannot be ruled out as the explaination (in the form of underwater geysers)

There is definetly alot of room for possibilities this game leaves unclear to let us fantasized

While it is true that the elder manta may resemble a whale, the world of sky tends to deviate a bit from real life.

As for the big fish, the call you get from its remains in Hidden Forest may be called the Fish Call, though the spirit that gives it is called a whale whisperer.
So, while there may be some things that needs to be clarified in the game. It could be safe to say that a whale is a very big fish.

The 'whale' you see in sanctuary island is called an elder manta.
The whale is more likely to be the big fish you see in the cavern under hidden forest, on the way to wasteland and on the way to orbit.

The elder manta only appears to skykids that have completed the final quest from the season guide from season of Sanctuary.
It will appear swimming of flying over the island in a cutscene, then the rest of the time, it will just be on the border of the area (just beyond the playable area)

I get the babies are pudgy, then the bigger ones has more than one pair of wings. Then the elder manta suddenly has a whole row of flappers.

That and the cosmic variants may look similar in shape, but then the elder cosmic manta (5th floor in vault) also has the flippers, but not the under belly.

I like to think the cosmic mantas are closer to a memory of mantas ancestors had; perhaps elder mantas were too rare for their cosmic counterpart to be an almost perfect reflection

The elder manta in sanctuary island looks a bit like a whale. Hence why some folks would call it that (I used to, but dont want to cause confusion with the other big light creature).

The one in the cavern, on the way to wasteland and on the way to orbit, are called big fish, or whales.
This can be justified with the name for its call being a fish call, and the spirit that gives this call to you is called a whale whisperer.

I dont think there are any elder manta remains. The remains in Hidden forest are that of the big fish (whale), which you are welcome to compare the face plates to the skull.

I have a slight insane theory? basically I think ancestors gave the uncorrupted krills the power of sight using these light things but these light things overtime were kinda like batteries that died out and became darkstone and harmed the krills

Krill search eye behaves exactly like the crystal in the vault does. Light powers it (probably powered by the elder night manta, that multilegged one at the end since it's known to hold things), a skykid stands underneath it, and it "activates" after ~5 seconds

Something that will probably give us a really good chance of finding the correct pre corruption animal is just looking for something with tons of legs. Since krill have a lot and the common theory is that they’re corrupted skeletons, the legs would have to come from somewhere, right?

The closest thing to them right now would probably be the elder manta shown above due to both leg amount and size. I want to say the light creature from the switch trailer is close too because of its eye but it seems like a kid, and I don’t think we’ve seen the adult form yet so it’s harder to confirm unfortunately…

Hmmm… it’s really weird that we don’t have to light these for them to work. I’m glad they’re somewhere else too because I thought it was interesting but due to vault being a Dreamlike area I wasn’t sure how reliable evidence from there was. Maybe they pull in light from the surrounding area on their own rather than needing a flame to light? I can definitely see why this type of darkstone would be much more convenient to have around… and also how it would easily lead to an apocalypse

OH!! I nearly forgot but I found something very interesting in Eden today!! These were in the second room of the first part, the small room. I don’t know what it’s called but because of these shields and stuff I always assumed it was some type of armory. I didn’t notice the symbols on the shields until now and realized very quickly “OH! THESE ARE SUPPOSED TO BE IMPORTANT”
All the shields in there had sun symbols on them

Obviously people into the civil war theory will immediately make connections but my other possible idea is that the sun symbol is meant to denote a special type of warrior tasked with guarding the holy mountain and just making sure no one destroys anything. Maybe due to their strict ideals about not harming light or anything it led to a civil war later or something, who knows

Yes the last picture is somewhat unnecessary but I thought I’d include it because it has the best sword reference so far I’ve found!!! I assumed they were the same things because many legs and it would be easy for it to have a living counterpart that we’d seen, plus the memory mantas only stay in their first few stages of growth so I assumed if the massive whale was the final version these were just the juveniles or whatever. Chinese play sky too, and they have a therory that krills are the corrupted version of whales.
Their proof too support their therory is that at the end of valley, a whale releases a call similar to a krill and the appearance of krills are alike to their bones (see rainforest boneyard) Also in the whales early setting draft, the whale has a glowing eye similar to a krill's.
This might not be true, but I found this theory interesting so I decided to post it here.

BTW, i'd like to point out how each type of creature doesnt seems to evolve into another in s pokemon evolution kind of things, on that floor we can see also little multiwings mantas (maybe her babies) and after all we can se many many size of the same regular mantas, from the small one who guide us through Forest checkpoints (not bug enough to carry us) to medium regular ones, like those in Sanctuary (which we can ride) till big regular ones (those that can carry kidnap us)

Maybe they become another speicies in a Darwin kind of evolution, through different cycles of rebirth

Btw have anybody noticed like some wax particles dont recharge our light as other do?

For example, one wax from one candle in the Flying Race can give us a good fragment of a wedge, while all wax particles from battlefield nasty plant cannot recharge even a decent fraction of one wedge.

I sort of think that could be sign of how much lightenergy is left from the souls a plant digested. Why am I talking about souls? Well , because one wax particles from any ancestor we rescued

actually, the wax still can recharge you. there seems to be some weird thing in the code that prevents it from charging when we are being drained of light or flying or something. i dont know what prevents it from charging us but im pretty sure i remember it charging me in some scenarios (I do have a bad memory tho, so i could be wrong)
