Yeah. Like maybe a place where people from the village could just have fun and race, but then it got abandoned for some reason, and the yeti went there.

Maybe it was a place to practice. The Village really reminds me of a ski resort, so maybe it was a place for their “Olympian” athletes to practice skiing (or manga riding, whatever we have agreed is they way they played the sport). Maybe it was also a place to vacation.

Maybe they did BOTH manta riding and skiing, now that I think about it. One of the Spirit memories in the village shows figures sliding down the slope and jumping over fence-thingys (I forget what they are called). This would prep them for the normal route we take to the arena, where we slide down slopes.

The other pathway leads to the floaty area with the magic globe-thingys. A spirit memory there shows a guy riding a manta. This area could’ve been a great place to practice this, and seeing how the next area after this is the other arena route where flying is the focus instead of skiing, I think my theory holds water!

Unless the whole arena has some magic technology embedded in it that just creates these lights whenever there was a race (like there’s a sensor held within the race’s entry point, where we have to meditate to open the race gates)

In Switch Trailer of Sky, we saw the travellers were going to the "main hub" of Isle Of Dawn, but before that, they were heading to the "Cave Entrance" which are surrounded with Trees. So that means, Isle used to be very Green but after the Darkness war, the trees and other natural green things disappeared mystically, i think that "Entrance" will be for a Season in isle of dawn

Okay! This is going to be long I’m sorry Let’s see if I can organize this. The whales, and elder manta are the only creatures in sky that neither harm us nor give us light. We see one in the clouds before wasteland social area and the boneyard is scattered with their remains and is now roamed by krill. Krill are bottom feeders I think? Or at least they feasted on the decaying matter, same as the crabs.
I was thinking that their name “whales” meant that they ate the krills and kept them at bay. The wasteland elders helm looks just like the whales head- so I took that all as:
Golden wasteland was once a much more vibrant and teaming city with clear water all around. I’m partial to believe it was their waste management/ trade center (but I’m not keen on combing them both). But as the years went on waste accumulated to a point were the waters were turning black And it drew more and more krill out. So the Wasteland elder took it upon himself to combat the rising krill problem. With help from the people of wasteland and other animal specialists they brought in the whales to fight them, which would inspire his helmet. But that didn’t stop the waters from being polluted. And I like to believe that at this time whatever was happening in Eden was getting worse to a point of messing up meteorological patterns- forcing a thick coat of clouds to move over wasteland. And as I stated, the whales don’t give light, and with the darkening sky and waters it was becoming a serious issue.
Another violent shockwave from Eden or some other major event suddenly wiped out almost all of the population of whales, and scattered the few remaining. Leaving their bodies to sink and gather in what we now call the boneyard. And since there were no more whales, the krill started to thrive, and eventually took over wasteland.
Soo yea that’s just a thought I had. I’m sure I’m missing things and wrong on a few but idk

There is also a whale in the caves under the hidden forest, the remains of one in the area outside the temple, one in the clouds in the wasteland social area (as you mentioned) and on in the route up to orbit.
The whales seem like the kind that would eat butterflies, if they follow along the same lines of real life whales eat krill (lol) which are tiny in comparison. Though that is just my head canon.
The krill are the predatory creatures of sky as they are relentless hunters and very hostile to light creatures. It is possible that the whales and krill could be at odd with each other in Sky's food chain, though there are no interactions with these creatures, as of currently and that I am aware of.
The remains in the wasteland, graveyard area do look like a whale, though are much larger than the living we whales in the game.

Your suggestion that they could be whale sparked an interesting theory and one I think may have strong evidence for!
Those bones were suggest to have been from Whurtles.
I dont have the official post or am sure where the proof for it is, though they were mentioned in the discussion.
Whurtles are a hybrid of whales and turtles.
That said, it could be possible for the bones in the graveyard to have been from elder whales. Which would have been epic!!!!!

I agree with the krill dominating the wastelands, and threatening to expand their territories.
Though want to add a note at the end that despite the nickname, the krills are called Dark Dragons in the game, so could be their names since their corruption.

Ah you bring up some interesting points. I've never heard of the whurtles. I do remember reading on the wiki that sea turtles were a possible light creature but were scrapped from the game, but maybe not from the lore though? the skulls I guess kind of resemble turtle skulls, in a way- but - and its all just guessing - shells are attached to turtles spines,, and with sea turtles the ribs are apart of the shell. If I remember we only see skulls vertebrae and ribs in the remains correct? if there's no shell, then what other defining feature would allude to it being part-turtle?

their skulls, I think, were the turtle part. I suppose the devs wanted to take a new direction with the whurtle's design other than just plopping on a shell.
Also, they could have had fins, though the fins would not have bones, so it is up for debate.

Interestingly enough, very early on in the beta, there were animal spirit guides. There was a bird, an eel and even a sea turtle that would guide the player. I was not in the game way back then, though thanks to Tara and her videos, it showed what the game Sky light awaits (the old name) looked like.

The turtle would have been in the village area in daylight prairie. If I recall correctly, it was summoned in the stone with the constellation on the far left. And the eel was from the constellation stone in the caves, in daylight prairie.

Hm I like that theory, I think it’s pretty sound too. In the realm of Sky with giant decaying ‘shrimp’ called dragons and arowana the size of whales I can believe a creature being called a turtle and not actually looking like one. When I first saw the giant skulls as a moth I actually thought they looked an awful lot like a turtles.

You also mentioned that could be from elder whales, which got me thinking of the 'elder' system of sky. The Elders are far larger than any of the realms spirits, the elder manta are much larger than normal manta. Are those with ‘elder’ titles mean old or are they different species entirely- I say this because if the remains were to be elder whales bones, they seem age fully small or the same size as normal whales.
One of my other theories was that the reason the remains are condensed to one area, is that maybe it was a nursery, and going with what you said, could be an elder whale nursery? Which is sad to think, but is there any other reason the remains would be limited to that one particular area? With the exception of the one in Forrest?

the elders are kind of the gods of each individual realm, with megabird being the ‘almighty’ or some other title. there were 7 elders, 6 for the realms and one for eden. however the eden elder had evil within him, and started to take over the realms, starting a war with the other elders, the First War. the species that inhabited sky at that point, more like humans than current skykids, were the soldiers in this war. eden had these soldiers too, who believed they were doing the right thing, as soldiers on the other side often do. the war was brutal, and many lives were lost. those in favor of the elders were resurrected in a way, with their favorite memories displayed so that people would remember them. the eden elder was eventually defeated, and imprisioned in a crystal underneath wasteland, replaced by megabird. many years passed, as the inhabitants of the kingdom grew to resemble the skykids we know today, trading for magic items with the spirits in exchange for sacrifices of candles and hearts for the elders. the kingdom had a benevolent king, who ruled from eden, which was restored into a bustling city. wasteland, which was almost uninhabitable due to the eden elder imprisioned beneath, was turned into an automated factory center and mining operation. one day, a piece of crystal was found that gained the king’s interest. he had it placed on display in the castle. however, that crystal was a broken off piece of the eden elder’s prison, through which they could act. the piece of crystal grew, enveloping the castle and corrupting the king into the eden elder’s new form. most people thought nothing of this, as the castle changed forms every so often to fit the tastes of the king or queen. one night, a few months after the transformation of the castle, shards of crystal and tendrils of darkness shot out from the central crystal, decimating eden and either killing those in range or turning them into dark dragons.

the dark dragons made up the eden elder's new takeover army. the skypeople fought against them, led by the elders, in the Second War. many lives were lost in this war, and it never truly ended. instead, eden was closed off to skykids, and only opened to those willing to save the souls of the dead inside. the darkness of eden prevented them from going to a rebirth/the other side (||orbit||). the skykid also dies and is reborn, as they still have light within them. however, the souls are never all saved, and skykids have to make return trips.

(this is the seasons, and the return of all seasonal spirits)

the elders also once had human forms, but when they saw what happened to the king, they shunned these forms, becoming merely gods. the king still resides inside the crystal, kept alive by the eden elder's power, but as skykids never go in there, he is never seen and is effectively not part of the outside world

Is it possible for the megabird to be like the great mother bird of skykids?

The diamond symbols are everywhere which would represent the King, though also could have a feminine connotation, symboligically.
In the old lore, the king and megabird used to work together with the cycle of life and death.
My headcanon is that the megabird is like mother nature, the giver of life (flame), and the king is like the grim reaper, the one who helps the dead pass on.
The only evidence I have to support this is the water mural in the office portal showing the megabird going around in a circle and on the other side of it, is a boat with a humanoid riding it. One would assume it could be the dawn elder, though the mural depicts the figure with a glowing head (dawn's figure in murals would have his boat shaped mask that looks like horns).

That said, I believe the king is like a son to the megabird, which makes the megabird the superior being.

He likely guided the people of the surface to the clouds, and he sends the sky kid along their journey

I've speculated that the megabird is a Phoenix of sorts, given how the game has the theme of life, death, and rebirth scattered throughout it

Flame is still represents life. The more you have, the more power you harness.
And when you are without light, you are robbed of life.
Even a pheonix loses their flame and this dies. But as you said, they reignite themselves and are reborn from the ashes.

The darkness corrupting the world could be like a disease. Since it breaks the cycle and prevents the dead from passing on.
With the skykids, the dead can be lead through eden and pass on.

Perhaps the reason why skykids are reborn and stuck in a cycle, is they can't save all the spirits at once, so have to go back and find more spirits.
As long as there are more seasons, there will be more spirits to save.

Has anyone wondered why that happens? Why do the krills suddenly show up after the gate is open?

It's not because of the sky kid's light as we have to travel across the area to get to the gate. They don't react the noises as I'm sure more of us would have been krilled for honking.

My best guess is they were asleep or at least in a catatonic state of sorts and stone somehow wakes them up. All the corruption seems connected the same way the sky kid's and creatures of light are connected to the light and megabird.

That's a really awesome theory (and one I like a lot because hivemind corruption is REALLY COOL AJGEBWJDJWGSBSKSK) but I'm more inclined to believe that the krill were attracted to the gate because of the noise the entrance mechanism makes when opened as that's comparably a lot louder and more noticeable to such a predator creature like the krill than say a skid honking.

now that I think about it, it's kinda strange how gw lacks diamond tech compared to other realms except for the single diamond in the final bit
this further solidifies how krills can be awakened by the activation of dark stone tech I think

there are blades in the first area in Eden. In the temple with the first winged light, there is a spear with a shield to the right, and a pair of blades on the left.
And with the upcoming cosmetic for the season of the little prince, the skykids would have rapier swords at their sides.

That was a spirit, technically.
In the beta, the spirits looked different. That warrior statues used to be the model for the fainting soldier. Now it is repurposed to be a statue of a warrior kneeling at a tiny bird statue (the candle holder). It looks like it serves the diamonds since it has an appropriate sized blade/paddle with a diamond shield nearby.

They likely hunted mantas, since we have to save mantas in that area.
It likely tried to gather food for their group.

There was evidence of a war in the battlefield area (just outside the temple). There are two different sets of weapons.
One is a blade/paddle similar to what the valley twins use with diamond shaped shields, and another group that uses spears and a rounded sheild that has a star/sun emblem on it, like taht the wasteland elder uses.

There are a few theories debating one what it meant. About the size of the weapons being larger than what an ancestor would use, the placement of the scattered weapons and what they could have been fighting over and who were the soldiers in that battle.

The wasteland has some serious defences.
Another theory going around the battlefield is that the fort fought off krill or other flying light creatures.
The tall pillars are king statues that would have been able to shoot lasers. There is also three giant canon barrels at the top of the wasteland temple.
I am sure the lore doc has more info on this.

Actually this is the scheme that of skykids that are died by krills, maybe moths, and krills eating that souls for the that other skykid has never help to dead skykids

skykids go to eden and give winged light back to the fallen (as the title mentions when you enter the point of no return).
When you are out of winged light, you turn to stone and die (in the past, you used to just shatter into dark dust, now a statue appears in your place instead).

This represent the end of your skykids run. When you reach orbit, you get to go back and be reborn.
That said, one can say that the skykids do die, though they get new bodies each time they are reborn. And even though your are reborn after each time you reach orbit, you keep your experience, memories and also gain any wing buffs that you unlocked whith ascended spirits.

Why do krills hate us so much

Like I genuinely want to know the story behind them

They seek the light we carry, they are hungry.
They used to be light creatures, now they hunt light (theory).

You know, I was looking over the Canon Lore Doc

Apparently one of the devs hinted something about the crabs with the way they walk

Started to make me think of hermit crabs and crustaceans...

Perhaps the darkness has no true form, and what it can do, though, is possess other things to have a concrete body. The crabs look to made of rock to me...so what if the crabs are basically darkness inhabiting rock like a hermit crab?

Same with krill. They are darkness inhabiting a body, a “shell”.

Though perhaps this is similar to how light works, inhabiting bodies. There is the dev head canon that their masks are made of stone

And the power diamonds seem to be trying to replicate that process somewhat. Taking light and containing it in a vessel. Canon lore doc talks about how the ancients might’ve stored orbs of light in jars (yes! They aren’t crushed butterflies! ) and cut down trees to make the diamond containers. Then they’d plop the light in that vessel.

Maybe the Eden power stone was an effort to contain darkness, and that didn’t go so well

Think about it...it’s red, not blue like the others. And krills eyes are red

And this doesn’t mean that darkness is some evil force or something. Just one that is harder to contain, and/or one that shouldn’t be controlled the way the ancients were trying to

Really, Sky gives me this vibe that it doesn’t clearly divide ideas into “good” or “evil”. Not that there is moral grey, or that it doesn’t take a stance against wickedness (like, it definitely shows the ancients decisions to be bad, like negatively impacting their world they pollution, etc.). But it seems to show that a lot of problems are caused by well-intentioned people...?

Idk how to sum it up. I guess Sky feels like such a pure world that there isn’t TRUE awful evil in it, even when there IS evil

Like, the game doesn’t go out of its way to be cliche “girly” or something, but it values and presents things that are very...soft and gentle, I guess..? Like it explores spiritually feminine things, not what we see as “gendered” feminine

Like it explores more spiritual concepts in a way that isn’t like...it doesn’t feel heavy handed or “loud”...not in the way some games can explore themes. That isn to see they are bad or do it BADLY, just...it’s a different way to look at it that isn’t done a lot. Like I guess I can say that kind of POV feels “masculine”. But I don’t mean this in the gendered way, but more in the concepts of thought and philosophy

the sky prince (not to be confused with the little prince in the collaboration), and by extension, the corrupted king are no longer present in the current lore. While they used to be part of the old lore, the lore was changed.
Now, while us skykids can see evidence of these rulers, the themselves are not present in the game to be saved.
It is heavily theorised that they (or they were the same person) were the missing elder of Eden.

Prince and the King kind of exists, but we leave that up to you to interpret their roles in the lore

the king plays an active role in the story of sky but maybe not in the way you may think
he's not there in the same way as the elders you see in the cutscenes
he is an important figure in the current lore of sky
he's just not there the same way as the spirits you see in the individual realms are
there are also subtle designs and motifs referencing the king in the world too. iirc some of the latticework in valley/dusk temple has a design pattern reminiscent of the kings head
could be worth discussing some of the meanings the diamond shapes may have and maybe what connections that symbolizes

I believe that mask is the rain elders headpiece but it definitely has weight if you consider the levels story
+the purpose of the hidden forest residents at their time

They could have grown up with time, since this happened in the past, it would make sense to read about a prince, and then a king at a later point in history. However, there is no point of reference to what the timeline was (ex. years).
Personally, I believe they are the same person. Though would suggest you make your own interpretation.

Tho maybe he didn’t grow up, so to speak. The concept art of him showed on version that showed what looked like a teeny prince on top of a pedestal that served as this big king’s head. I joke that he’s in a mech!

I agree with you on that.
I did not say the prince ever grew up, but the prince became a king.
I also think the king looked like a tiny prince controlling a massive stone body like a mech suit.

Maybe the prince was trying to fulfill his role as elder of eden, though ultimately fail and cause the world to collapse upon the disappearance of the 7th elder.

What makes that hard to solidify as a theory (What I said is a hypothesis at best), the references to the prince were in the old lore.
Since parts of the old lore is no longer valid, I am not sure what parts are still theoretically canon and what parts have now moved to fanon.

reminds me of how the first time i went to eden someone has friended me and helped me along the way, and then at that "fly with the spirits & skykid flocks" they had tried to ask me to handhold; and i never got to them in time but it made it so that the whole time i was flying towards the big light the handhold icon was there like it was asking me to follow it

This has 6 orbs, 4 of them being similar to prophecy. Maybe each element had smaller "drops" like the orbs of light that may fall from the sky (laughing lightcatcher). The prince may have gotten 4 of the elements awarded to him ( 4 floating bits) but not all of them ( 8 floating bits). Maybe the 2 not included in the ark mural were light and dark themselves.

Before we were gonna meet the prince there after saving the king or whatever from concepts so its still not confirmed as file names are just file names. Personally if i found something in an oob that said all of skies lore, I wouldn't consider it official as its not something meant to see in regular gameplay.

The king is presumably the Eden Elder and they are the ruler of the sky world. currently, they cannot be saved and their whereabouts are unknown, but we get hints of them throughout the game thorough statues and such, their mask looks like this: they are also most likely the prince.

They're from concept arts of Sky

Originally, the Prince was the person we were going to save in Eden, and was the monarch of Sky. The lore revolved heavily around them, kinda being the main driving force of Sky's storyline

The devs did confirm the Prince and King still exists in the current lore

Whatever happened to them, its unknown tho. There are theories that the Prince is us (your sky kid), maybe the kid you hugged at the end of Eden, or perhaps both.

So in case if anyone didn’t bring this up. Every think how almost all the kingdoms except for Isle are in the Sky which prob is obvious due to the over abundance of clouds almost everywhere- but that’s besides the point. If you think about it deeply, all the kingdoms are prob floating island except for maybe Valley and Vault but definitely Isle. Isle is the ONLY kingdom surrounded by the ocean besides that one area in Daylight. Dunno if that counts as lord of not but it certianly is an interesting topic! Another thing is when you relive the Confident walk spirit you may notice a small spirit that looks a lot like our favorite spirit who gives us Candles when there are no seasons going on: could it be that in game spirits can often be related to each other?
