I have a theory about forest and Vault's relationship lol who eanna see it

Distant Elders Theory:

It is confirmed by a dev that the reason why the Forest elder and Vault elder have such similar masks is because they are related, but if so then how come the two seem so distant and different, in personality and relationship?

I personally believe that  the two elders had different views on power diamonds and light sources. Vault thought it was OK to use mantas' light to create diamonds (aka manta juicing 😵) and Forest saw it as abusing the light and the animals. As war started over how  diamonds should be treated, Forest and Vault began to split. Assuming that the people who thought it wasn't ok the abuse power diamonds lost, (aka Forest's side) Forest elder got mad and impatient because they knew abusing power diamonds isn't a good idea, Especially after the eden explosion.. On the other hand, Vault secluded themselves in their realm, out of guilt, possibly. But the idea of the sky children saving Vault and the others gave Vault hope.

the reason why assembly props look like that, badly put together and quite unpolished is because they're experiments made by children !!

So yeah, I've said that the Assembly scouts are quite smart, I mean as if creating amazing treehouses isn't an amazing feat on its own
But I think they're also studying about power diamonds as well as darkness plants
Since one of the scouts is a botanist, or at least a kid who's very passionate about plants as another is about dinosaurs

And the reason why I think they study the diamonds is because if you look at the second assembly treehouse, there's a door mechanism similar to what you trigger in Forest doors and there's diamonds in the table adjacent to that mechanism
Not to mention the diamonds in props
Like the spotlight and the floating hexagon
Especially those, they managed to make diamonds do what they're supposed to do (power/create light sources and make things levitate) from picked apart door mechanism diamonds

I like this theory.
With the forest elder specialising in making power diamonds and the vault elder taking care to keep the memory mantas. There may be grounds for them haing opposing standpoints despite the contrast of their masks being similar. maybe they share a related position (as intellectuals).

Also it may also explain why in wasteland, there were two factions at war, a diamond faction wielding blades (like that in valley that heavily rely on power diamonds and then the sun/star faction that weilds spears that rejected the use of power diamonds (Seeing most structure that would use them are destroyed).

I remember some folks pointed out the chuckling scouts head piece (two sticks for horns or something like it) is reminds them of the quest giver (and thoughtful director) of season of rhythm.

I was not entirely sure it sticks because that link is fairly weak.
Other loose connections included festive spin dancer with marching adventurer (similar mask pattern), daydream forester and troupe juggler (vaguely similar expressions, though very weak comparison) and so on.

I am not confident in that theory and have little to add to it. So thought to check if anyone had any thoughts about it or also think it is not a strong theory.

hmm, I'm guessing that it had to do with different versions of traditions from the spirits of sky! each realm must've took inspiration from one another in terms of fashion and lifestyle, as trading , importing and exporting was very abundant around this time, especially in the forest. they might've picked it up from visitors who they entertained for the time being.

I think of the former glory of Golden Wasteland a little like leaving the countryside and entering a center of industry and culture. imagine entering Rome, having lived in a forest all your life. There was magic in the outer reaches of the empire, but power was concentrated in the industrial/political center. Those coming from the isle, entering the kingdoms all brought innocence and light and everyone, in their eagerness to grow and achieve, corrupted their own innocence in a way that seems allegorically linked to how we are destroying our own world.

1. The land of sky was flourishing. But these travellers are crossing a barren land much like the GW we know.
   ? Another ruined civilisation?
   ? What is that motif that resembles the shield before the fort in present sky GW?

2. Nobody is talking enough about the midnight sun. It's a midnight sun

3. This land with few streams across the lands and floating islands looks like some sort of thing resembling prairie.
   Also we see normal sun rise and set but that's been mentioned.
   Also kind of gives me premature civilisation or another dead land vibes.

4. The flower has li'l light particles and we see them being used in the lamp and they become premature butterflies and scare some creatures and make the shrooms glow.
   Is this how light was harvested?
   Where are these travelling people getting the light from? Were they light collectors? Merchants?

Another thing I found interesting in the video was that the beam of light to orbit was always there pre-starfall. They'd been using the crystal all along? What are peoples thoughts/theories on this? Why is it all cracked now and Eden iw destroyed?

In my own musings I'd considered the king or one of the battlefield factions creating the crystal and light stream for more energy/power.. but this trailer has proved this was probably not the case. From the video the light stream has always been there... But the crystal? It is not revealed.

What I liked about the trailer is how the light was seen everywhere, and the spirits were able to use it.

The crabs in the trailer were seen trying to drain light from the plants. And had red eyes and dark bodies.
Maybe the krill has a similar form of corruption as the crabs in the trailer.

welp, the run down for Wasteland is the place is very industrial.
You can find a lot of pipes and sewage spilling from them. It is the first area where you encounter the dark dragons (also called krill) that patrol the area without rest. There are also ruined structures such as the broken temple, shipwreck and most notably the graveyard as well as the battlefield. You would notice the spirits found here (excluding seasonal spirits) would express emotes that relate to death, fear and war.
The water here is badly polluted, you can sometimes spot the crescent moon (or partially eclipsed sun, I am debating that part still) through the holes in the cloudy sky.

Throughout the history of the game, the place went through a lot of changes.
Surprisingly, the krill's look were pretty much unchanged since their first appearance in the game! All that did change is their lights used to be red while patrolling and flash white when preparing an attack. They also used to only charge down to the ground, so the old way of avoiding them was staying off the ground. Now a days, the krill are extremely aggressive, very dangerous to novice players and even deadly to moths unfortunate enough to end up in their sights. The skeletons in graveyard were mentioned to be called whurtles, though I cannot recall where I got this info.
In the beta days of sky, the elder's shrine used to be outside by the gate. The cutscene showed a more chivalrous elder and suggested that he was the one to open the gate to help skykids escape pursuing krill. Currently, the elder is inside the temple and had no fight left in him, till the skykids gave light and enough strength to get him back in his feet.
Lastly, there is also lore that got added when season of enchantment introduced the Forgotten ark.

oh wow-! thank u so much for typing that out for me. i noticed that some of the spirits in gw were heavily contrasted to those in other realms. such as the first one you see (forgot the name ee) by the broken temple. seems like it's ducking down as if something is falling onto it... i am currently reading about isle and i had no idea there were boats before!! i wish we could still use the boats, it makes me sad

Yeah, back in the beta, the were more boats and ones you could ride!
Now a days most of these old boats no longer work. Lore wise in the game, they were either removed or actually moved under the map and made invisible! I know about two boats that are like this, one in dawn (more like UNDER it) and an old chat boat in praire (inside the far left temple in the villiage area).

If you want to check out working boats, there is one in wasteland, just off to the far right in the first area after the social area. And the 'ski lift' boats in dream village, valley of triumph.
I dont recall any other working boats other than on in a special place ||in office||.

For the next season, one of the spirits is called the “ gloating narcissist” and they have the valley elder costume. I wonder if they moved to the new area because of their behavior. Just an idea that came to me.

He does have a similar looking costume, and one that looks like skykids can wear!
Another thing to point out about him is his arm has a segmented look similar to the male elder of Valley.

Because the season is a collab, it is tricky to put this spirits in the season squarely in Sky's lore. Though it is possible it is a teaser reference to the elders or a detail that runs parallel to the elders.
While the season spirits are bound to their 'sins' or faults as adults. Maybe the elders are bound by their mistakes too.

It's not that they are just evil and bad for no reason, but that they are corrupted by the tremendous amount of unnatural death and environmental destruction inherent in factory manufacturing of that technology. When the cataclysm happened, that power was released and carried with it that horror as a corrupting energy.

The krill are kind of an avatar of the storm which is a representation of grave imbalance

Its still dubious if dark creatures are corrupted light creatures. The thing in the trailer, does look like a krill (one eye, flappy limbs) but it also does not (smaller, wider, has a mouth). Krills have appeared in murals from before the start of the Kingdom, and thus, before its downfall (see prophecy) but they might have just been prophesied. And theres also black light creatures that potentially could be mid corruption (forest caverns canth).....or it might just be a black and white canth. I could easily see it being true that they are corrupted light creatures, just because, thats a common troupe in stories.

When the stars fell, it was quite interesting because in the next shot the isle of dawn became what we see today

It’s like the stars is what guided them, without stars they didn’t know what to do

I'm maybe late but, after the trailer, my theorie is

The peoples of the realms, and the elder most of all, used the light of the sky to, well, live and maintain their world, as shown in the trailer.
Then the star started falling (did they wanted to live here or they didn't have control over it ?) Leaving the peoples of the realm without a reliable source of power, as well as the elders unable to maintain said realms (seeing how weak they are before the kid visit, isle broken, prairie sleeping for quite some time, forest unable to forge, wasteland unable to fight, and vault...uh, she has a scar i think ?).
So they started using darkness, as shown in wasteland, but of course it backfired horribly, turning a lot of creatures of light into creature of darkness (the little creature shown in the trailer were maybe the Krabs before the incident ? And whales into krills, it's pretty logical here)
And now, skykids are living a cycle between earth and sky, giving light to the elder so they can survive, bringing the light of the fallen back to the sky, and then, eventually, some of these light falling back to the earth

There is some holes but I'd be happy to share them
I also have some other theories but i want to talk about that one

A skykid is your player character that can fly and explore different kingdoms.
They have a variety of cosmetics, and emotes.
They may not be able to directly hurt or kill creatures in the game, though the game focuses on the skykids being pacifistic.

It is not clear what gender a skykid has, so they are generally gender-less, while they can have a preferred gender.

I think this is a intended feature to make it easier for player to relate to and customise their characters, instead of being stuck with a "male and female" player model.
Also, what can add to the fact are children of both genders have a similar appearance aside from specific body parts.

I was told skykids may be slightly taller or shorter when they start playing, though yes, all brand new skykids have the same basic look (the classic moth).
As they play the game and unlock new cosmetics and emotes, they develop their own look, style and personality.
That way, all skykids can be unique in their own way, but they are still recognisable as a skykid.
In other words, you will always have dark skin, glowing eyes, white hair, clothed and wear a cape that lets you fly.

The fanon / concept (?) name for The Valley elders is really interesting bc in talmud they talk about the letter samekh coming from the Ten Commandments being inscribed on two sides of a stones tablet, creating the new letter . The whole dual concept really fits with that letter

After seeing the trailer I went back through i bunch of the realms and realized how vibrant many of them might have used to be and now it all looks so sad because everything is in ruins, that trailer giving me big feels

One thing's for sure: there were no krills before the fall of the stars. Also, Eden was peaceful which can clearly be seen in the trailer due to the lack of storm above it

Another thing that makes me sad about this game is all the spirits are dead, like they are GONE GONE so while we are reliving their memories it also makes me sad cause they all had lives and now it’s all gone, forced to relive the same memory again and again and again. The memories are probably like their last memories before the stars fell too

funny thing you should mention. I found a website that showed the process of how the core mechanics of the game was worked out.
Also, found a concept artist (not tom zhao, this is Jose Luis Vaello Bertol) that showed how the spirits are like ghosts that are reliving a moment in their past life.
It may not be the exact time they died, but it seems that is a moment a spirit has clung to after daeth.

Hmm I remember some old art from either Light Returns or early days COTL beta when spirits would literally be trapped in Eden diamond.
Now, in the current version, they are physically located (urhm, bad terminology sorry) in the way to Orbit, not in the Sky realm where we encountered them anymore. They became the stars - the stars we should rescue in the first place. This may also be the reason beside gameplay dynamics that we can access them from a constellation at Home. They became stars once again, we fulfilled our mission: to help them become stars once again (even though in case it means they are dead).

Yes, but the question remains: it's literally stated in the new Isle murals that the spirits were the stars before darkness. Now, we helped them, got rid of a little tinny tiny bit of darkness but they're still stars - only now they're up in the sky where stars should be - i.e. as seen in the new trailer. How does this all work? How can they be stars both "on land" i.e. Sky kingdom and in the Sky's sky? Any ideas anyone?
