Valley’s Orrery/Citadel has a few that don’t ring at the topmost part, so they might have been in use in the area. In early drafts, the area in Prairie with the ruined towers (the area where the Bird Call Spirit is) was used as a stop/rest area for light creatures migrating. We see the mantas show up when the bells ring in villages, and the same happens in Sanctuary when the bells ring. In the early days, lore wise, the ancestors may have interacted more with the wildlife, and each area may have used bells to help direct the migratory courses of mantas, etc. maybe. Idk.

thank you! I’m not big on lore but I spend a lot of time looking at random props to figure out what the lives of the spirits were like before they died

my guess is that the room was used to organize the races, kinda like a backstage area/locker room, and maybe the bell was rung at the end and the fireworks were set off during events kinda like the way they go off when the skykids finish the race

It is probably the only depressing thing in whole game (except creepy wastelands and eden, but still not depressing) and I always wonder why is it there. Can someone help me with that?

You can also trigger an outdated quest by meditating in the center of the platform in front of the bird. You’ll have to close the game and reopen it to continue, once you finish it though, because it forces a dead end.

It’s the sit action. You’ll know if you do it right, because it has the “progress chime,” like wind chimes. There’s no directions once the mini quest starts, but it’s light collection. Each of the small orreries has a small light within it once the quest is activated.

I always bow to the bird before I enter the citadel. Idk why but it just seems respectful.

I feel like krills are skykids who lost their light, but they were abandoned or left behind, so they’re bitter. The crystals that normally make them into statues would cover them, until they become krill, who seek to take revenge and destroy the skykids and light creatures

Ooh interesting and kind of makes sense too because if you’ve been yeeted by the krill you must’ve seen there’s like these small bits falling off the krill. So it might be true

i think maybe the krill used to be those big krill-like creatures that you can see in the sanctuary, and i think near the bell towers in prairie. then maybe they got captured and turned evil somehow?? like how with circus animals, they break their spirit until they eventually just give in out of fear of being hurt again (idk lmao)

Same. Though the flaking darkness is also seen on the “statues” / bodies you save in Eden, dark crabs, and even yourself if your light is extinguished.

But you can see the a krill in prophecy's murals, note that that's probably the time when the first generation of skykids only started falling so I doubt that any of them would be consumed by darkness that quickly

Agreed. I think the closer one gets to GW/what I think the capital of the kingdom was, the more homogenous the architecture. I think Valley was a sort of first line of defense, along with a training camp of sorts for soldiers, so it would have been seen as an extension of the capital and thus have similar buildings. But that’s honestly just my opinion.

GW also looks like it was becoming more utilitarian and discarding the decadence that had grown up in the more advanced sections of the kingdom, given the large tanker of fuel in the harbor, and the extensive pipes lining the walls, and the decommissioned manta juicer. I also don’t think where we enter GW is a main gate, but like a service entrance. All of the bigger corridors and passages are much, much larger, but the one in the first wall we see is. Well. Tiny. Less ostentatious.

The only one we know is a manta juicer is the one in Hidden Forest Temple, and we can confidently say the one in GW. The others appear to be benign bells used to summon mantas, possibly tying in with old-dev plans to have villages be an area where players play with light creatures on migration.

That’s fantastic. Also, Ark has a symbol near the end with the magic furnace. I’ve been checking boats to see if it’s like a generation mark or a port-of-origin. Isle’s temple is practically dedicated to boats more than anything else. I’ve only found one other boat that has a mark, and it’s a triangle.

I keep pondering if Krill eyelights have something to do with dark stones and red stones, like if the red light is produced by internal red stones, and that’s how they break the winged light out of us, since they rev it up before striking.

The red stones vibrate like crazy when you get close, but they do that before you’re in light sucking range. So if the krill have some kind of red stones, it makes sense to get it ready, line up the shot, then quickly strike to get in melee range. But then they do nothing with the light. Unless they’re intended to break down large bits of light for other things to more easily absorb them?

Like many of the spirits we see are just that, spirits.
They've already passed into eden a long time ago and they probably used these boats to explore new zones and the player was probably in one of the boats but accidentally fell off :SkyShrug:

So as we begin sky, we see our character waking up, but lacks wings

Maybe those glowing things we collect are essences of the spirits long ago that were placed there waiting to be collected by you, the player

Think of it like this
A family lives in the woods and the kids play around the woods and in order to ensure they always come home they follow specific, unique or painted rocks placed by their parents

I’ll focus on the prows from now on. There are two or three with the vibrant blue patterns. But there’s also a variation in the diamond mounts on the sides between boats. And the model in Isle of Dawn, in the cave, only has 2, which is odd since even the smaller ones have 4.

Also since Forest was like a factory on the early concepts (and now in a way), and since some trees in Forest look like they have been cut down: The Forest people used the trees for their factory. Since in the concept of Forest, the factory used raw material from trees and other places to get light and energy. When they almost ran out or someone discovered another way, they used light creatures to make them energy. The creatures attack for the first time but fail, which could explain why Forest has the bones of the whale at the end. The darkness then trapped the souls/light creatures inside, meaning when we burnt the darkness, light/wax appeared. That would also probably explain why polluted water or the temple for Forest had darkness trees/plants. The remaining of the light creatures after the attack were trapped in the darkness. So probably the Forest elder allowed the people to use light creatures.

So I have questions about things I’m seeing on the hill before the hall in Eden. There are holes in the hill, and you can fall to the nothingness below. Under that, there is something incredibly blinding. Also, there are these. Things? Floating that look like tech wreckage. And I have statue pics. But those are probably covered elsewhere.

You light up candles on these two boats. Then the boats go up, and you see light being shared through all of the elders. And finally the star on top of the king lights up.

It’s also worth noting that Ancestor designs are intentionally made by the developers to be or appear to be bottom heavy, and aesthetically used triangles to help convey that. It was to show they’re “grounded” and earthy. However these are one of the few items to either not have an up-facing triangle, nor diamond. (I’m ignoring the triangle made by negative space, because that approach isn’t used elsewhere).

If it’s an inverted triangle, does that mean it holds something from the sky? Butterflies are from the sky, but they’re held in the square jars with diamond indentations. Also, these are top-heavy jars in design, an inverse of everything else the ancestors designed.

Just went to the prairie to get wl and I noticed the caption under the sanctuary islands says ‘an escape from daily civilization’ meaning there was apparently a LOT more civilization than we see in the game. We only see a little bit of the sky world and there’s obviously bits of civilization remaining (valley, for example) but I just thought that was interesting

Oh also the last time I was here (a while ago) people were discussing the origin of krill and my theory was that the whales went extinct (bones in the forest) and the few that remained had their light drained for power by whoever and turned into krill but whales are actually still there you can see at least three of them- in the big cavern in forest, between forest and wasteland, and after eden. I think the eden one is some kind of ghost maybe since everything is kinda dying during that bit but the other two are alive and well so the whales aren’t as extinct as I thought

My theory for the origin of the krills is that the krill is a sort of "corrupted" big whale (the whale that we see before entering golden wasteland) as you can see in the main graveyard in gw, there are gigantic bones on the big rocks. My guess is that these were the big whales (graphic enough) and that they got corrupted and are now the krills that you see in the graveyard. Although there are tons more theories that debunk this, I just thought this was a cool idea.

I saw a video of the old beta (Light Awaits) once, and those birds on the Isle door worked as a sort of electronic circuit.

When on of the candles spot of to the left or the right was lit the circuit appeared and brought energy to the door

So maybe that's why I interpreted as birds

Right. I call it the claw glyph. The one I was unsure about was the anomalous glyph between the rest on the weathervane; the odd glyph shows where the claws change direction, and is four marks arranged in a diamond pattern.

The areas I know that it shows up are:

Prairie stupa/temple
Hidden Forest temple altar

it probably means the elders aren’t actually present in the temples when we do their cutscenes, they’re probably somewhere else

Personally I think they only exist as tools for the Trial of Fire- whether they were born from Fire Prophet's machinations or the person undertaking the Trial is debatable tho

They don't exist outside of the Trials and are obstacles that possibly represent the fears of the ones taking the trial

Though they resemble krill they're different in subtle ways

The dark worms in the Trials aren't outright hostile and snuff out the light rather than knock it out of us, quite unlike krill

It's possible that they're created with krill-like tendencies in mind but ultimately I don't believe they're biologically related
