It depends on the creature. Dark predators, like krills and crabs, have eyes that are specially made to find light, that's why the first krill we encounter eats a manta.
Also, not everything is made out of light. For example, sky kid bodies are actually made of a hard material, like stone or wax, and it's the light which gives them life, and heat which gives them the ability to fly and wear cosmetics.

That is why I created this sword as a concept of a weapon by which the children of light could fight the creatures of darkness if they existed in the game. Although the sky world is so similar to dark souls ...

so i went back to wasteland to see if i could find anymore evidence of what that brick like wall could be.
this is in the first area of the wasteland to the left. in the background it seems something is somewhat breaking the skyline BUT it could just be clouds
this is a few on the right side on the dock (i have a few more pics but i dont wanna spam the chat)
other possibilities are its just the wall that u have to enter into from the boat area. but instead, its the section behind the vault u cannot see
another thing that potentially makes the first few images faulty is that this is the view of the boat looking out to the ocean. as u can see, there is not a break in the sky line like the first two images

Concerning the last picture, I just asked in another channel about a light that sparkles between those two islands, like a spirit or winged light. Could be a faulty graphic but it’s rather persistent. You have to zoom in the see it.

In person it tends to glint quite a bit. It’s better in gameplay, but getting a picture is frustrating. It just stood out because it made my winged light instincts kick in once I noticed it.

The Prairie Elder shows that the butterflies are actually compressed light, and the butterflies themselves are kept in the vases and jars found throughout the game. This to me infers they’re used as a fuel source. In the GW caves around the Ark, it’s shown that the land people eventually... over harvested and this led to the proliferation of the dark crabs - with the light receding from it being harvested they were able to multiply, supported by their heavy populations in more industrial and darker areas. The thing that I keep trying to piece together is if the krill were machines created to gather light more aggressively as it became an increasingly rare commodity, or if they are actual creatures that were able to proliferate like the dark crabs. Is that anywhere close to the mark?

I don’t know if we’d get that since it would only be likely in the early levels. But god it would be great to see some twisted corrupted foliage in GW and Eden. Some kind of stately garden grounds run amok with oily flowers.

Random question: the skeleton in Hidden Forest, right before the temple; is that supposed to be the skeleton of the same species of creature that’s swimming in the ocean down in the Sanctuary Isles?

It's an Elder manta, different from the ones we see in HF's caverns, Valley—GW transition and ascension
The skeleton in HF's boneyard is presumably the same species as the whale or uhmmm whurtle that u see in the areas I mentioned in the latter
Also note that the one in Sanc has a manta tail while the others are just one big chomk

I know actual mushrooms act as a sort of ecological sink for pollutants and can accrue large amounts of harmful materials. Maybe these actually do the same, kind of cleansing the area. I could also see the devs treating it like they’re gathering the motes of life left from the dead trees and reintroducing them to the cycle of the forest.
(We need a mushroom call.)
