A little off-topic, but I feel like Wasteland wasn’t the main city. I think it was more where the upper-crust lived. Valley was just like the normal town, because there are a lot of really big buildings specifically near the end of the sliding race that had bridges going across the track. I think that the people who lived in the buildings (they were kinda like apartments) would go out on the bridges to watch the races. Then behind that, forest, was a slightly poorer district that managed things like finding the materials for the Wasteland factories. Prairie was agriculture, and probably also had some kind of bell system. Isle of Dawn was the main place where candles were made.

But I don't think we should think of elders as bad because of mistakes they've made. Everyone makes mistakes. The only time someone is "bad" is when they intentionally keep trying to do something wrong without caring to change.

I love that krill lore paragraph! Very cool!! I’m currently running a D&D campaign and I made a home brew version of krills, just to terrify my players.
Tbh I could see both theories be true. GW does look like a factory but it also has all those battlements and stuff, so I wonder if some major battle did occur there or if it was just elders trying to contain the krill. Plus one of the ghosts you collect is hiding from the krill, so timeline is unclear. Maybe people still lived there after the krill appeared.

I really love astronomy, so when I first heard the theory, I immediately had an idea to add to it.
The spirits are stars, right? So, the king could’ve become corrupted by greed or something, and became a black hole! Black holes are probably the most powerful things in the universe, so the stars didn’t fall from the sky, they were actually just running away to avoid having all their light sucked away. Even the seconds of contact with him weakened them a lot.
It’s just a tiny thing I thought of but yeah-

Because the bells in the forest's boneyard area also has the same symbols + jello stone constellation but summons jellos instead.
