So you know how each season's pendant glows when the season starts right? And the glow wears off when its about to end, but why doesn't the season of prophecy pendant glow? Is the season all just an exhibit? What if the cave was long gone and forgotten until now, they left marks on the walls of history and stuff so that could be it but what if because it was long gone, they had to force extra spirits and they are forced to be "prophets"? We never saw the eden elder and we most likely wont because maybe he is doing all this, forcing the spirits, and making them puppets. * im also guessing the eden elder is a he for no reason ok * As he does all this, he wants to make sure to not be interrupted and put the eden storm so it will make it harder for them to reach him, but in the end we cannot reach him, thus he is still hidden away and controlling events such as seasons in peace. And maybe the reason why the vault elder looks sad is because the vault of knowledge, it contains, well, knowledge, he knows. He knows this, and also the spirits in vault know this too so he has to trap every single one of the spirits so neither will realize something odd or something else happened because he has stopped their living, but we can experience their memories because its like a museum or exhibit. And each of the realms need light right? WE are the light so when we step onto the realms, we give off light without knowing that we are, the wax and candles is all fake, its just something to get you to step into the realms. When we go through eden, we get brainwashed to think that candles and wax do something. They are making us buy things and work hard for it, like we work hard for the eden elder and we glorify and praise him even though we dont know he exists, and he wants that to happen so we wont happen to interrupt him during his controlling and stuff.

@bitter shale I think the lighter lanterns were perhaps once meant to be activated. In the lowest level of vault, there are similar, lighter lanterns that float down when the standing lanterns are lit. My theory is that these six were meant to float down once all six seats at the table in that room were occupied, perhaps leading to a special area like prairie’s 8 person puzzle.
