The spirits build grand city’s the moment they found the fallen stars (elders) around those elders,the elders fell from orbit probably seeing the skykids wings and giving them a pattern extremely similar to them as a gift or as a way to bring a small part of their home onto “earth” however the spirits couldn’t use them because unlike the skykids,they can’t properly harness light as it isn’t a part of them,the colors probably represent price and importance,while more unique capes like the prophets are reserved for more important people.the capes became vanity items and boats because the maid mode of transportation

The camel told to the turtle king how odd he looked, because in the land of Solomon and in all the countries across the oceans he ever visited, every turtle had a beard. The turtle king became angry when he heard this. He said, “Tell me where I can buy a beard, oh camel the news messenger.”
“According to Solomon, you do not have to spend your wealth to grow a pluck of beard on your chin. Pray for the safety of this nomadic camel and a beard will grow,” said the camel with a laugh, and so told his lie.
The turtle king prayed for the camel’s safety and the camel went away with a heart as big as the ocean.
And today, turtles still believe the lie. Notice how slow a turtle walks. The poor creature crawls on the ground looking for its beard, because it thinks Solomon might have thrown it away.

SO, assuming that the prophets knew what would happen if the king created the diamond, what if they asked isle elder to help them build the Cave to protect themselves and other ancestors from the explosion? This theory is tied to my Eden King theory, that basically goes:
The Sky Kid is a fragment of the Eden King.
I'll start with the cutscene the game shows you at the beginning the first time you open the app. When it comes to the "Wake up, child, bring our lost stars home" part of the narration, we see a little silhoutte of a person/kid, drawn with blue lines (The usual color spirits/villagers have, and also the King). This blue person then gets in the middle of their chest a yellow symbol shaped in a familiar fashion to the Winged Light logo.
Now, going back to the king, to make things short, they got corrupted, and the whole Eden disaster happened, and for some reason the King dies. I believe the king broke down into smaller pieces of himself, and they all got scattered across the Sky World (many of these pieces being the Kids we find at Eden).
Now, going back to the drawing/mural of the introduction cutscene, this small kid that suddenly got brought to life by the light could be one of the King's fragments. (The Narrator, which I presume is Megabird, seems to be the one giving life to Sky Kid).
The Skykid has no clue as to why they exist, they just know they have to save the Elders and bring the Spirits back into their homes and such. If they used to be the Eden King, they don't remember that.
Going back to King, I would like to believe that, at some point, he had to do the trials too. (Considering that the water trial has the same beacon-of-light on top of a mountain, like Eden, and we can find a winged light there).
Following all this, to me, Winged Lights are pieces of the soul of the Eden King, and we slowly pick them up to then, place them back in the other broken, physical pieces (Eden statues)
Season of Prophecy comes into play like this:
It helps the Skykid remember who they were before they were reborn.
