Black Holes are known for being able to devour everything in their path, not even LIGHT can escape it, which is why they're black, due no light at all

They likely always make the trip to Orbit when the storm calms, but it's only when you win the favor of the spirits that the spirits talk the elder into borrowing their energy and offering you their hair because apparently we like that sort of thing.

so the diamond factories would have to be located near areas that had this trees, since we see no sign of exportation of darkdiamons from forest as we see in prarie (light/butterfly exportation in this case)
problem is, they overexploited in wasteland, and similar to what happened in easter island, they ended up without trees to cut due to the mass production of diamonds
