basically the theory is that the elders and maybe also the inhabitants of Sky (spirits) wanted some sort of power source to make boats fly and doors open, so they created the power diamonds as the source of the power. It's thought that the power diamonds are created from butterflies and possibly other light creatures. The theory is that Eden is a giant power diamond and its purpose isn't really known, though it was probably to provide continual power. Except something really bad happened, maybe it got too powerful and exploded or it was destroyed and it exploded. Either way, the explosion may have destroyed Eden and possibly wiped out the inhabitants of Sky

@high bison I can try. The idea is that the king is a bit of a legend or ideal. A Propoganda, if you will. Someone (Megan?) began advertising a larger than life version of the prince, either for control or because of misunderstandings.

This ideal became associated with the crown, while the person Aleph actually was became disconnected.

That would not release Aleph from the responsibilities of the crown, just make the expectations more unreasonable.

Aleph, disconnected from his constillation, would need a new one, and adopted his cape as his symbol durring times where he was less than the king. The stars in the sky were never informed, but on the ground, cape meant the prince.

Come Eden's destruction, the elders and spirits decide to seal off the realm. They agree to make Aleph the key to reopen it, and use the symbol he adopted rather than the symbol the stars assigned him.

Time passes and we are formed from Aleph's energy. Being tied to his actual identity, we form on the symbol that actually represents him, and are able to access the gate that uses the symbol that represents who he actually was, while the stars and story we are told in the vault are tied to the person he was expected to be. (Perhaps Lamed's presentation references this as a small mercy towards Aleph - the crown is used to provide an opportunity for Aleph, and us, to decide not to be either the one we were expected to be nor the person Aleph became trying to be them. But that's tangent.)

The stars do not recognise this change in identity, and continue to treat Aleph, and Us as the king figure.
@short owl Sooo... the crown represents the Prince’s persona (the King) and his role as the ruler of the kingdom of the sky. While the cape represents the Prince as an individual.
Cape = The Prince = Aleph the individual
Crown = The King = Aleph the ruler/idealised Aleph

if no one minds i would like to return to the biology of mantas. thanks to the above cloud oobs above eden and wasteland we can be certain there are no mantas in eden, wasteland, and vault. So we would have to assume orbit is a seperate ecosystem and the creatures flowing inside are just returning to their nest or hive like in the first how to train your dragon movie. That would mean that the migration gets annihlated by the krill by the time they get to wasteland, but if that were true the mantas would be extinct by now because there are no adults left and they cant reproduce anymore. It would only be logical to assume the light creatures are confined to their own realms or at least they dont migrate... if the latter were true, the sanctuary islands would be the nesting ground and the daylight praire the feeding grounds (that would be the only way the prairie could support such a huge manta population)

well, I alluded to the paradox of thesaus, which essentially entails the thought experiment that if all fundamental parts of an object has been replaced, has it lost its original significance or in other words, is it the same object? I present that by children of sky reconstructing the kingdom, some integral pieces of its history/civilization is lost. Unless light holds absolute truth and does not dissipate energy, then comes the philosophical question that do we leave the kingdom in the ruins to retain unopinionated interpretation knowing it will perish one day, or attempt to reconstruct the kingdom to your interpretation knowing some parts will always be lost. @sacred rapids

The beam represents a beacon of an old spirit that was long gone even as a spirit!
