Is anyone else wondering how darkness can manifest, since darkness is just the absence of light?
My friends thinks, that they work like the unmade, the dark creatures and dark water were created as bright dragons, bright crabs and Normal water. Then, the light was drained from them, or leaked out or something. So then they were “unlit” and became dark. She also says that there still are bright dragons, and that you see them in sunny forest cave. This whale looking thing that flies up and down right as you come in. I am inclined to believe her, but I have many questions.

Well to me darkness and light is similar to how hot and cold work. So there is a certain amount of light everywhere, even in "dark places" there are traces of light. When there is no light it will manifest as darkness. So when you lose every little bit of light you manifest as dark? if that makes sense?

That is a good idea... it could work for everything, but us. We lose the last of our light(soul) and turn to statues

Maybe because we are made out of pure light (or wax not sure?) we can't possibly lose every bit of light because it is the essence of who we are. We become statue when the light isn't enough to sustain our living but there is still enough to not become darkness. So till we gain some light back we are statues?

Odd suggestion, but what if the statue and blue light thing is a trick we learn from Spirits?
A lot of spirits have statues that only appear when the light is where the statue should be
Maybe spirits can disconnect from time and space in a way that freezes their body but leaves an imprint. When we are brought to the point of death, we use this trick to save ourselves

Also, I was in forest today and watched the elder cutscene. The forest elder made a diamond (much like the one the vault elder has) and sent it up to the sky. Maybe it’s just me, but they look kinda similar... Why do u think the forest elder would send it to the vault elder?

The blue/green tint seems to leak from a crack present on the statue, this kind of made me think that the light can not bind together their bodies anymore and darkness begins to seep in. Along the path to the storm lock, we see statues that have blue crystals/spikes growing out of them, I feel like these statues could not hold off the darkness and succumbed to its corruption, the powers of the darkness annihilated light in the process, thus they can not remember/be saved anymore

Or IMHO it's because after the Golden Age of Sky Children (Vault & Golden Wasteland ages ago) they were able build a wonderful Realm, which was like Paradise on Earth but it's now lost in the Storm (after all devs were inspired by Ebrew culture for the concept of Elders' names, so why not using the Paradise On Earth name from the Bibble)

Eden in the Japanese translation is called Original Sin, so I think it’s more a reference to the elders doing something to cause everything to go wrong

Alright, so my interpretation is based on that we are not alive, it is only the consciousness of the player that gives our playable character "life", I assume some general abstractions here which I havent consolidated yet. First, I assume the body of a sky child is analogous to that of a clay figure, molded into a vessel from the earth. Second, sky childs descend from the skies in the same form of the ancestor spirits when viewed in the "The lights" constellation, this would imply that sky child can manifest in to multiple places through projections, but they do not have physical presence. Third, we can stand extremely close to fire, and other intense heat sources, and in fact they heals us and replenishes lost light. (You can argue that being in close proximity of any substantial light source is enough to restore light, but light is restored to a degree through deep calls no matter the proximity as long as it is in valid range). my interpretation would be fire/wax and candle light heal our physical vessel through firing, deep calls and intense light sources would heal our bindings, thus indirecting strengthening the physical vessel, clay.
ok, now we actually start the theory, light is a binding force. We can use this hypothesis to interpret why rain and other bodies of polluted liquids damage us, while "pure" water and ponds do not. It may be that compositions in these liquids corrode our vessel, thus the light within us must rebind the broken connections in the vessel, eventually this light can not sustain the counteracting force and spills out of the vessel. We can also see how players in the "the lights" constellation can descend and manifest their forms, because we are projecting their form using the shared link between our light(a bond), it is important that we note this is a shared connection as otherwise it implies it is imaginary. It explains why we can view the cosmetics/appearance of other players, because the cosmetics are their memory projections shared along a link. It is why unlit players do not have any cosmetics and are otherwise the same, and losing light cause our cosmetics to vanish/dissipate. All cosmetics we obtain are the result of the exchange of a connection/bond with ancestors, which they shared their knowledge(instruments) and memories with us, which we now remember, this is the same case in the case of friendship bonds. That enough for today, there is a lot more but I dont think it is ready. Soon™️

... i enjoy that theory . using the forest rain as an example , the dimming of the vessel through the rain may suggest that the body is getting damaged , and the loss of winged light is the accumulated light through the collection of winged light escaping from the vessel.
it’s the same with krill , i’d say .

Yours make more sense in that the light seals the crack in the vessel, which is why you only lose winged light in a single instance when the krill strike but not continuous leaking more light

i think you can lose one to six winged light to krill attacks . i don’t think i’ve heard of any instances where one lost more than six in one hit unless krill attacks were consecutive ( being krilled once , being seen by another krill and then being attacked again ).
being krilled , losing winged light , and being hit into water may contribute to more winged light loss because the vessel is continuously being damaged .

the purple tethers are especially noticeable riding the big manta around sanctuary . i always thought it was a kind of fastener ? so the player wouldn’t fall away .

now to get back to you question @hushed steeple I cannot disclose anything new that hasn't been publicly discussed. There is lots of symbolism in the game. Things can serve both a story-driven and gameplay-driven purpose at the same time. Those things are not mutually exclusive.

I have no idea. The game was in development for 7 years, plus ongoing lore development. There's a lot to work with. Something from 2012 could sit and collect dust and not see the light day until the year 2035 for Sky schfourteenteen, for all I know.
