What do krill do all day long? Do they literally just spend their entire day roaming their designated areas? Or do they have more vibrant personalities?

Running on instinct alone would dictate they stay where the biggest amount of light is, which would have been the main civilization, and not with the few ships of settlers going someplace dark.

I doubt the krill can survive in sunlight very well

They are creatures of darkness, and you rarely see even crabs in the sun

They only appear places where there are dense clouds to protect them from the sunlight

Or in caves in the case of crabs

Which is why the wasteland is a perfect place for them.

So it’s likely that the “light” we have is really some kind of energy force, like a propellant. Sorta like when you use fireworks as a jet pack for your elytra in Minecraft

I have a theory the krill and crabs are actually mechanical. The ancients built them to help harvest and store light as a power source, not quit realizing what they were doing. Eventually, the machines got out of control and started attacking too much. So they do what they’re programmed to do, but can get overloaded or fooled.

On the Krill- have folks talked about the pictures that appear on the Forgotten Ark? Seems to be a sequence, and just around the corner from where it shows the ark being knocked out by the storm, we see a Krill emerging from the clouds. It’s possible that it was “the engine” of the ship, that was knock out by the storm and went haywire

@plush moon Sorry, I think I misunderstood your reply. However, the shipwreck is regardless very close to the barrens themselves, and the krill are big enough and intelligent enough creatures that it would naturally be within their hunting range. The Lost Ark, however, is implied to be quite the journey, as it's one that must be taken by boat. So for the krill to fly a large distance for a relatively small amount of light suggests an ulterior motive besides survival alone.

So basically we theorized that the ark was supposed to be on route to Eden but the darkness lightning damaged the ship making them vulnerable to krill so they had to retreat. They eventually landed in wasteland

It could be that they can’t make more of themselves also, which is why we don’t see it in game. We do see the elder of the prairie storing light in jars and releasing it, elder in forest stealing and hammering light.

It could be that, to me, the sounds of a Krill passing overhead sounds... metallic?

I point back to the elder sequences at the end of prairie (containing light in the jar on purpose) and forest (stealing light from us with something of an aggressive swipe and then hammering it). Wasteland elder uses the light (with our permission) to enhance the weapon. Vault uses it to power the knowledge crystal

The dark plants have light trapped inside them, so it seems the dark eats or surrounds the light

And in Vault, the elder seems almost hesitant or apologetic in taking the light. Knowing that mistakes were made by harnessing it.

Certainly not a lock on this... I’m trying to think of some of the wall paintings I’ve seen, but that could all be confirmation bias on my part.

Hey so a while back I found that there were birds flying in Eden into a pipe, and I was asking what those birds could be there for, and why there were just birds and no other creatures. So today I was going on a candle run and I was doing the isle cutscene, and I realized that the isle elder at the end of the cutscene is guiding the birds towards Eden, and I think that those could be the same birds that we see going into the pipes

I think dark creatures were confirmed to be a natural aspect of Sky, but they may not have been hostile before Storm... maybe Krill were just a result of Storm

I don’t think light creatures evolve, because the butterflies were just made from candlelight, but the mantas were from megabird in the og concept, so they must be different

I read this post on Reddit where someone said that maybe the spirits messed something up and made the darkness rise up and stuff, causing damage to all the worlds

They locked it away in Eden and each spirit elder and their spirit friends hid in each of the worlds

The Vault elder placed herself closest to Eden, possibly because it was mainly her fault...?

They were all consumed by shame and guilt and eventually withered away, but the old gods took pity on the skykids becuase they were only just kids, and placed them in the Isle of Dawn where they're the farthest from Eden

Then maybe Eden was getting out of control, so they called us up and now we have to save all the broken children from Eden

My point is, if this was true then maybe there was an eden elder spirit that took guard over Eden, but the darkness was too strong and corrupted him

@drowsy spoke I do believe there was an eden elder it wouldn’t make sense for there not to be one but there isn’t much to really go off of other than really old concepts. I do agree that the king became corrupted, maybe they wanted to create a power just as strong as what the megabird had granted to people of the sky kingdom so they could manipulate it and use it at their will

It obviously went horribly wrong, I like to think that the king is inside the red diamonds at the end of Eden

So I recently went through an existential crisis with this game

So we know Eden resets as an opportunity for us to be reborn stronger... But why live through life knowing your purpose is to die over and over again?

I specifically bring up Eden reset because it's not "the end of the game" and then they let you try the whole game again... (For instance, playdead's inside/limbo: if u play the last level again, the memory is simply reset and not "you have memories from your past life, now do it again")

my theory based on the murals drawn on the ark is that, the Elders granted 6 spirits with Natural Lights. It's unclear to me why. They were voyaging among the stars but then there was a thunderstorm and they fell in Wasteland.

There was also one mural with children playing fireworks but I don't understand how it is related.

What I think is: the actual ark, along with some smaller ships got wrecked by some krills along the way, and now they were on a deserted island, the enchantment farmer using his earth light and some plants for the main spirits to survive, but as days passed, their resources were running out, so they rely on mushrooms (I have no theory about the 2 floating mushrooms, but the ones underground, blame and spirit for dropping them). Until they die of hunger.

Hey i have a theory: Krill are made of the bones of the Mantas after the ancestor’s civilization siphoned so much of their light to the point where they died. That’s why they roam around looking for Starlings to take back the light they once had but can’t because they are already dead. They’re forced to roam for eternity until they can be “freed”. Another reason why I think Krill are Manta bones is that they move their body in sections and are jagged like actual bones. Basically Krill are Manta zombies.

What I've gathered so far to what happened at the Ark, based on my own theory ofc, 6 spirits were granted Colored Lights each by the Elders. It's kinda like the Elders made them into nobles. And afterwards, they were on a voyage to Eden, with mantas accompanying them (not sure where from, probably Forest) to trade their jars of light. But when the Eden Diamond exploded, they were attacked by a Krill and crashed in Wasteland before getting to Eden. Maybe the Krill wanted the light from the jars. So, they tried to start a new life there but since there were many more spirits on the ark, they all probably died from starvation. The water was gradually corrupted and this didn't help the soil for crops.

idk if this has any real lore significance, but id like to point out that the dark plants on the whale bones here never have any light inside them. when a dark plant contains candle wax, it has bright orange spots that lead to the stem. as far as i know, this is the only place where dark plants naturally dont spawn with candle wax

also as far as i know, this is the only set of bones that have dark plants growing from it in the first place.

i would like to use it as evidence for my theory that whales aren't entirely light animals

First from the intro "bring our lost stars home" they are physically guiding the spirits we save in the 6 kingdoms back to orbit.
Second, its a natural life cycle, they die so they can become reborn stronger with wingbuffs from those spirits they have saved.

What's the relationship between elders and spirits and skykids?

Are we like...the same species as them but just, yknow, kids

I believe it was confirmed that skykids and elders/spirits/ancestors when they were alive are different species.
Whoever the narrator is at the intro woke the skykids to return the stars (spirits).
Speculation is the narrator is either the Megabird / light itself or the shinyboi we see before orbit, but no reason it couldn't be both. And more speculation is that the spirits need saving because they have become corrupted or consumed by the darkness (as we see from their statues after we relive their memories)

1 the Megabird is the designer given name to the design we see in the credits and in orbit, and in the pool leading to the secret area.
2 the Prince / King, I agree there is a figure in the vault final constellation.
Both of these are in the older design attached, but this isn't necessarily "Canon"

It is the "universe" of sky essentially, and the source of everything

Butterflies were used to make power diamonds, a form of technology in the sky world. And dark plants are totally different. Butterflies would be collected and put in pots at praire and then they would be shipped to forest. Forest was the first form of industry and had the first diamond press, they would use those pots of light and press it with raw material to make these power diamonds

In the old concept arts
Darkstone was something FOUND at forest, it was a corrupted material and they used that for technology

The first run of eden supposed to be like the end of the game. Like heyy we beat it, now we can get reborn and save other spirits etc. I think the kids at eden are only reset jus for the game mechanic of getting ascended candles

If the eden explosion actually happened, I’m guessing that those skykids had a mission as well, maybe to stop the diamond who knows
But something caused them to go to eden, and they saw the explosion happen so that’s why some were taking cover and when before they were hit with the explosion, they left poses of them covering their eyes or jus simply showing they they got hit by the explosion

After the volcano eruption, there were some ash bodies showing how the ppl died. Some running away, some trying to find cover and some covering their faces jus like the kids at eden

And no the megabird is simply an old concept of the game and we aren’t sure if she is current canon yet

so i noticed that wasteland temple and vault are connected because there is a hallway that leads to each other and i have 2 small theories of why that is. so 1st one is that the warriors/soldiers needed information about the attackers (if it was another “tribe” they were attacking) and needed quick information... so they went to vault of knowledge. my other theory is that since vault has lots of knowledge the wasteland temple was protecting the knowledge from others who wanted to use it for bad. these are just my thoughts and might not be accurate but this is the ways i see it and possibly more
