Given the war that happened there, I wouldn't be surprised if Krills took the Wasteland as their new home and are now viciously guarding it.
Now that is awesome. 🤭 I'm taking this as my headcanon, since given that we've already seen whales (those are whales) but not an Elder one (which is suspected that this one with 4-horned head is), it would be a nice tribute as well as show that yes, Elder Whales were indeed a thing in the past.
...
Even though now I wonder if each shard memory also sort of represents the main realms we run through from DP to Vault.
They seem to be drawn to areas of darkness or strife or pollution, or something
When the deer was weak after the hunters captured it, they came eagerly to crescent oasis
Idk how the area got suddenly polluted with dark water and plants simply from the dear leaving, I doubt the king told his men to throw trash everywhere
Well it was the villagers who poisend/polluted the water, wasnt it?
I don’t remember, I’ll have to check
Oh they literally poured in poison into the water to attract the deer
so wait doesnt that mean they just had pollution in a bottle at a time where they couldnt have been any? Is that lore or just game element?
Stuff to according to the wiki with interesting lore implications
In the fourth Quest, the Hunter and the Feudal Lord's soldiers send out the Herb Gatherer to enact their plan for capturing the Nine-Colored Deer by tainting the Crescent Lake, spilling a jar full of poison into the waters. The sky darkens as multiple Darkness Trees grow out of the tainted water, harming several of the resident creatures and drawing forth the Nine-Colored Deer.
the Herb Gatherer, who has fallen sick from the poison used to taint the waters.
Darkness sweeps over the Crescent Oasis. An ominous purple storm begins to form as multiple Dark Dragons terrorize the village,
cough cough last part deserved
None of this was in the original tale of the Nine Colored Deer though, so this is all Sky stuff
Here’s the original tale:
In ancient times, a Persian merchant gets lost in a great windstorm. Suddenly, though, a spiritual deer of nine colors appears to guide the man. Later, the deer rescues a man drowning in a lake. In exchange, the man promises not to reveal the deer's whereabouts. The man reaches an imperial palace. The king insists on hunting down the spiritual deer to make clothes out of the deer skin. The man gives in to his greed and leads an army of warriors to the spot. He falls into the river again, hoping the deer will show up to rescue him. This time, all the warriors' arrows turn into dust and the man is drowned.
The animated version which Sky likely based on:
The film expands on the story. The deer is first seen rescuing small animals and insects when the tree they live in is blown down in a storm. The deer guides them to safety and persuades flowers to bloom out of season so the bees will have food. Then the deer saves a party of traveling merchants who have lost their way by magically moving the mountains to make a clear path for them. The story that a magical nine-colored deer has come to the country begins to spread among the people. Meanwhile, a man who sells medicinal spells and cures for snakebite is gathering herbs and falls into a lake. He is rescued by the deer and promises not to reveal its whereabouts. However, the vain queen of the land has also heard of the nine-colored deer and begins to pout and sulk, demanding a coat made from its fur. The king posts a huge reward for anyone who can tell him where to find it, and the potion merchant at once decides to betray his vow of secrecy and lead the king's hunters to the deer. The birds who were rescued are terrified and rush to the deer begging it to flee, but the deer is serene, saying it cannot be killed. The potion merchant pretends to be drowning again to bring the deer to the lake, but when it is surrounded and the hunters fire, the deer manifests a halo of divine light and sacred symbols surround it. The arrows turn to dust. The warriors all stand ashamed as the deer berates the potion merchant for his unfaithfulness and greed, and birds fly around him striking the man with pecks until he sinks into the lake.
So all the poisen stuff its sky original?
interesting...so then what is darkness or pollution that it can be contained in a bottle
This is a small, unrelated detail - but I really like how the steps in the Forest Elder Temple are so worn. It means that they have been used a lot, and I can really imagine Ancestors walking up and down them. It’s a cool way to visualize the past.
I´d say it´s liquid/water of some sorts that´s been mixed with crushed darkstone as well as potential byproducts of darkstone-production; in case of Crescent Oasis, given how the Hunter acts, It isn´t beyond me if the poison used is pretty much water polluted with the remains of dead creatures (ala whale skeleton in HF´s Boneyard) that had died unnaturally, thus leaving corpses behind.
And yes, this is absolutely as dark as it is ... and I´m totally going off that horror story where guests in a local hotel complained about their tap water being black color only to then discover a corpse in one of the water tanks.
We do have 2 missions where Dark Dragons showed up sooner (chasing us and chasing the manta), thus something was already wrong with the village even before the poison was poured into the Oasis´s waters imho ... and if it´s implied that these waters were the source of drinking water for the village, then ... yeah, that´s a great yikes. I wouldn´t be surprised if Krills come where there´s both pollution and strife.
wdym given the war that happened there

u're trying to say theres no war and everything is just skykid's imagination? Should I go there and retake the pictures about how or why spears, swords, or shield, and the iconic medieval battle fence Chival de Frise laying around.....
If this is no war, this is a rebel
if this isnt a fight...... idk what it was then, kid's roleplay battleground i guess
Wasn’t sure if asking about it would be spoilers for the abyss quest, but i was curious about the king krill at the bottom of the abyss, if we go to visit him will he attack us? I’ve been wanting to see him up close but wasn’t sure if i wanted to full send it, visit him as in ive finished the quests storyline already
Yes it's a rebel cuz there's no dark creature here
Oh if you mean that war, the creatures of light were attacking the folk that were using darkness crystals as a source of power, using them is what caused the downfall of their society(stupid autocorrect-.-)
Also is it safe to visit king krill after the abyss questline? Will he attack us?
Ooo awesome, imma go do that soon then
He actually won't even give you a look.
... You misunderstood. Of course the war happened, a bloody blind person would be able to tell it. I said that Krills most likely took the GW as their new home because of said war, so I have no bloody clue how did you get such a great misunderstanding.
Civil war, moreso.
yep so TRUE cuz there was no dark creatures when aurora showed us the war in GW in fact before i watch auroras concert i thought they were truly fighting the dark but no it's just an insurgency
i wonder how did isle of dawn turned from grass to desert
dehydration
At least before Seed of Hope came, that is, then we start seeing Krills. First the little ones and then the big one.
the soldiers are attacking the manta who are fighting against them. because the mantas and other light creatures has had enough of people using dark stone and sucking their light. there are people who are sided with the light creatures. krills happen after the explosion i think. according to the concept storyboard, "The creatures caught in the center of the storm became corrupt and unrecognizable. They now wander the land as lost malignant beings."

the amount of times i've seen this addressesd, as well as everything else being talked about here today, is quite mental
turns out the lore channel is just the exact same questions every day, even though they get answered
time, lack of civilization, desertification. life cycles of the land. nature.
according to the concept storyboard, this explosion was caused by a "powerful ark", and the shattering Diamond didn't exist (conceptually) at this point
i think it's safe to say given the evidence that Krill were created in the Season of Abyss area, and the explosion from the shattering diamond both:
- trapped souls too close to the explosion inside shattered memories where time doesn't exist
- corrupted (or unnaturally killed) light creatres that were a "safer" distance from the explosion
-my point with this was that there are some very clear changes from the conceptual storyboard, and other things they very clearly kept in, but i do still think that Eden's Shattering Diamond contributes to the creation of Krill; just not the original conception, nor the source of all dark creatures
Well this channel itself is missed up in fact all the messages are are 📚 literally 📚
books?
Alot of text with no order because subjects are being changed and questions not answered. You cant find anything in here
questions are being answered every day, and then asked again
if you want to find something, then just use the "search" function.
i just searched "desert" and found quite a lot:

Some people want a theory with actual proof behind it? Cold seas is something that has not been mentioned once in sky
it's logical and true to nature. it makes sense the most out of any theories that have nothing that isn't the same to back it up.
i'm simply addressing your concern "you can't find anything here" - you can.
nothing wrong with expressing my feelings.
How does the seas get colder make logical sense? We dont know what kind of explosion the Eden crystal produced and we dont know how powerfull it was and if it even had influence over the climate
Im just asking questions
- take a look at google, i'm not going to write out an essay on desertification
2.you dont know how powerful it was, i think you mean
it was obviously powerful enough to kill an entire kingdom
it absolutely had influence over the climate. just look at the game. there is darkness everywhere. offshoots erupt from the shattering diamond and crash land all over the realms
the Shattering Diamond is one of the primary catalysts, and very reason the world is in the state it's in, it definitely has influence over the climate
-skies turn red on shard eruption days
-the closer you are to the shattering diamond, the more intense the storm of darkness is
-basically anything that the shattering diamond does feels like an artificial force of nature
Well no there isn't darkness everywhere, Isle of dawn and daylight prairie doesn't have a single dark plant.
- Deserts are formed by air currents. Hot air rising from the equator loses its moisture in the process, producing clouds and rain, which give rainforests their name. This now dry air cools and descends, generating an arid, formidable desert environment.
- Then tell me how powerfull it was, Im happy to learn
Nor corrupted light creatures and dark creatures, darkness only exist in hidden forest, golden wasteland and Eden.
days of nature - influence over the climate:
there is a new darkness plant event, along with a new dark creature, neither were here before, and very obviously it's from the shattering diamond, otherwise it wouldn't be red
the prairie has dark plants. go to the villages & sanctuary islands.
the valley doesn't have a dark plant aside from 2 small ones inside the temple
"there is darkness everywhere" you're nitpicking and i think you know what i meant
powerful enough to destroy a whole race of people & corrupt/ruin an entire kingdom LOL
you two can talk amongst yourselves. i'm not going to address you both talking about different things while slowmode is enabled. byeeeee
OK the "days of nature" will end and that dark creature will dissappear and there's nothing In villages and sanctuary islands and those 2 small ones are from hidden forest so yea still this diamond thing doesn't control the climate.
"there's nothing in the villages or sanctuary islands" you must be new here, log in and take a look for yourself
"those 2 small ones are from hidden forest" there is darkness everywhere in hidden forest. there are 2 small plants inside the Valley Temple. go take a look.
Elf search things up in this lore chat. What kind of explosion would only kill one specific kind of natural life, why are only the ancestors being killed and nothing else?
nitpicking, i'm going to the store
Alredy said that before: #lore-discussion-spoilers message
you're changing the subject and getting into specifics. i'm done here & i've said what i have to say
I am aren't new and I always look there also like I said the days of nature will end and the dark creature will disappear and that goes same to the rock that everyday is throwen
well if you are new then i apologize, i don't mean to come across as insulting. it's just, if you're a Senior Uber like your title suggests, you surely know that there are dark plants in the areas that you said there are none.
yes, Days of Nature will leave, but it comes back every year. because pollution never leaves. I don't know what you mean by "rock that is thrown".
as for the new dark creature, we can't say for certain if that will leave, stay, or migrate to a new area. we will just have to wait and see
again, i'm going to the store, Imaginator please dont @ me. i see you typing
i might sound a little crazy, but i think the increased amount of shards recently might mean something
Last year days of nature didnt even had any dark plants in it, it was just cleaning up the vortex
i dunno what, and it may just be a gameplay convenience, but i am looking at it 👀
we know that, i asked you to please stop @ing me
Well usually people dont answer when they arent pinned
i have explained 2 or 3 times that i would like to get going now.
Cool so are we done with this subject? (please, I hate doing these discussions with negativity in the air )
it has been 8 minutes since you sent that message and you just edited right now, as if we're still on the subject
my dude, if you want to be done with it, be done with it. i said way earlier that i was trying to be done with it.#lore-discussion-spoilers message
tbf it sounded like you were just disregarding the things I say as nitpicking
Im glad this subject is over
because nobody knows about the lore
We're stuck in the bottom part of the server, forgotten, with this ridiculous slowmode that's been here for months
Bottom part of the server?
of the chat they meant
ah
like, as you said "you can't find anything", it's lost to time (unless you search it)
basically the same meaning
oops sorry 😛
(in actuality, you're right)
Oh ok (btw can I pin you again?)
Speaking of lore implications, I really wonder what would the reasons be to have Krill fireworks.
I can understand crab firework since they are neutral but...why...why krill lol
Maybe they are there to simply show the history or our journey in fireworks
Given that krills are technically part of their history or our journey
Probably the same reasons we have tigers and dragons and hippos etc in our art. They’re a part of our history both real and mythological
Or maybe they're symbolic of Eden while crabs are symbolic of Golden Wasteland?
The issue with this is that crabs exist everywhere
From Sanctuary Island to Vault of Knowledge, on top of them appearing in shattering events as well
not far from people making horror art or things of that nature i think, people love depicting or writing about horrible monsters, whether they're real or not. Maybe some day we'll get a dark dragon enthusiast spirit
Lol Imagine we get a Krill call from such a spirit
their outfit is a hand sewn krill suit and their sound is a krill call thats great
yea and its introduction is just jumpscaring us with its call lol
GW does have the single biggest population of crabs of all realms tho, thus the suspicion about this.
then perhaps crabs migrated to other realms
I wouldn't put it past that, given the crabs seen in Two Embers trailer.
Alright, I’m back from the fire trial (THANK GOD)
And took some pictures!!!
And yeah. The light clearly looks orange to me. But even if it were red, I suppose that’s when we should take into account that these are beings make of light we’re talking about. When we give the red light to the muralist, we see her use it to paint the remnants of the ship with murals, which suggests to me that red light is used for artistic purposes. If the light given from the fire trial were red, that would signify that fire (for the ancients) refers to their soul, as it’s essentially what they’re made of. If we take season of enchantment into account again with this train of thought, I’d assume that the orange light used by crab walker represents the more physical manifestation of fire, that of warmth, which was discovered during long after Resh completed the trials. But once again, it does look orange to me, so this theory doesn’t seem applicable unless I’m colorblind. But yeah! There ya go!! What do you think??
Since we can go through eden and stuff again, what good did the skykids actually do? Does something different happen if you complete all constellations?
I assumed they just went and saved more people in eden
Nothing different happens when you complete all constellations other than access to the elder stuff (hair, masks)
But I do wonder if lore wise we're stuck in a loop of death and rebirth because the kingdom is stuck in time - the only time we get any form of time progression is within homespace, aviary and from events like turtle sunset or seasonal stuff e.g. bloom or feast.
Homespace doesn't feel like it's part of the kingdom so much as it's just a load zone for us. Events, I don't consider particularly canon to the kingdom's lore since they're based mostly on irl seasonal changes and events (i.e. bloom in spring, feast in winter)
And the only reason I could see for Aviary having time progression that the rest of the kingdom lacks is because we actively did have an impact on reviving the area.
Everything else feels stuck still and I wonder if that's why we're in a loop.
Smal question: What's the temperature of a sky kid? Every time they run around in the grass there's clippings that turn to ash.
Oh wow I never considered those could potentially be from us being too hot to run on grass, I always thought they were particles just for visual aesthetics
Probably around the size of a moderately heated up brick oven
I'm not sure about that, since there's real tangible changes in the kingdom. It's not just a complete reset, new things happen
Skykids help the world in smaller ways: they rebuild structures with shared spaces, they help light creatures, and generally make sure the kingdom is in good hands
huh, where does that happen? i cant seem to see it
It happens in most grasses. You can see the bright green flecks turn to black if you look close enough.
interesting
i wonder if either they're burning, or when the grass dies it turns to darkness
that's a hypothesis I didn't think of. 🤔 But if that were the case, bouquets and flower arrangements wouldn't possibly survive, right?
i guess atleast in some of those we sorta turn em into light, or wear them ourselves ( maybe our light keeps them alive? )
what an odd thing to think about
hmmm I'm not buying the conditional/situational darkness transformation myself, but you are right that it is interesting to think about haha
Going off my thoughts, maybe they have a normal surface temperature but can produce a more burning heat when friction occurs? They get a bit brighter when flying faster and produce sparks when sliding swiftly/hopping
any ideas about the nesting guide's relationship to the forest elder?
Mentor+Mentee
Are they angels or
Who?
another day, the same previously-answered questions
haha, this isn't stackoverflow. I think new people wanting to discuss previously addressed topics is perfectly valid and welcome
Who knows, some people might bring a new perspective to things too
I don’t think Sky lore can be “solved” because it is left vague on purpose. New perspectives and interpretations are interesting
i have a genuine question, i (actually not me, i went with a new friend) just finished eden today. why do we have a second life and what do we do in it?
As a game mechanic - so we can replay the game and get ascended candles.
As lore - I interpret it as our job not being done, so we are reborn.
Every season there are more spirits to release and winged light to collect - so maybe the Light is reaching new places and we must help the spirits there also.
do we ever actually finish the game?
Nah
Maybe when support for the servers ends. I hope this game has a end-of-life plan.
I would like to continue playing at least some version of the game even after TGC ends support.
But that will be years from now.
I hope its not the same as with nintedo where the servers shut down yes, but there is like a single player still left somehow
I think it wa something like that tho Im not sure
The game is actually endless, you k(r)ill yourself in Eden and then you return back cuz of a wl that standing in the void awaiting you to hug it after that you return to the earth and do your journey once again from Isle of dawn to Eden then you k(r)ill yourself again and hug the wl and then return to earth and yea so its basically a ♻️
The game itself becomes bigger and the lore becomes more complicated every season.
Am I the only one who really wants a season about the darkness only?
Ngl that would be awesome
Indeed!
And would probably give us more of an idea on what it is/how it works!
I’d love a season about the king
I would also love to see dark people aka (people who are dark infected just like the crabs)
I could provide that
I like corrupted children of the light
Now that makes the work!!
Actually corrupt Sky kids would look like this (see Corrupt Descendant)
Which resemble the king tbh, more proof king = Sky kid
Now with this picture I'm sure 100% that the king is alive but infected with darkness
Remember Sky kids are also called descendants
Wow thats acctualy horrifying lol
thats just a zombie (wait we alredy come back from the dead...ARE WE ZOMBIES?!)
Very interesting
Btw is the darkstone just black shard pieces?
It’s what I’ve been saying, because the red ones are called red darkstone stone or something like that (or was it corrupted? Shattered dark stone?)
And it rains black shards that don’t damage you while the red ones do
Black gives normal candles while red gives ascended
I kinda think that darkstone has been sorta been replaced with dark plants when it comes to corruption (since instead of darkstone there are dark plants growing on the sky kid which I assume means it has been corrupted)
what mask is that
from season of shattering
Dark plants are actually small light creatures like butterflies that got freeezed cuz of low light energy and so they merged and turned into dark plants.
That's me fr
Guys, are winged lights sentient?..👁👁💦
no exept the one that saves us in eden
Ok!
I always thought the dark plants eat the light creatures. Like when you free creatures from dark plants it was growing on them like some sort of carnivorous plant or parasite.
Well, there’s actually nothing that says they are or are not (The one in Eden is definitely sentient, though, as it can respond to you). They could be sessile and sentient. Or sessile and insentient. As for where the winged lights come from, or their true nature, that’s never explicitly stated.
My theory is that they are remnants of the king, because I just like the idea of it. But that’s just my personal headcanon.
I wonder how identity was treated among the ancestors. Did they have names? How many? What were their naming conventions? Did they ever change names?
I mean they are also called "Imprints" so I dont think they are sentient
I didn’t know that! Thanks for sharing! This supports my “remnants/imprints of the king” theory
Where are they called imprints? Is it in the beginning of the game?
I always wondered, is there an official name for the first ever sky kid? Within the lore I mean. Ik all the elders have names but does the first ever skykid have one?
Interesting.

Not that I know of. We see a Sky kid fall during the memory of the pointing
spirit, and it is theorized that is who would later become the king of the Sky kingdom, but canonically they do not have a name.
Maybe someone else remembers the concept art names (technically not canon, but official)
I thought it just turned red in the presence of Light, and the stones that stay dark are ‘broken’ somehow.
They've had a ton of names, but none of them are official for now
Gotcha ok! Ik there isn't anything canon other than some things but that's all I know
What are the names?
As in, names created by the community
I've heard of King and Prince (then there's Resh and Alef, the hebrew names in concept art), as well as Eden Elder (that's my favorite)
And if you honk it scares them and they duck!
Not all day, but usually the evening to night? Some spirits seem to have consistent schedules others don't.
I wonder why the waving bellmaker just stares out the window of this building
Maybe to wave to people XD
Also forgot to mention, but yesterday you see every spirit at Praire peaks using telekinesis magic, which implies this is a thing anyone can do, not just learned scholars (I tried to take pics of all of them but I was too slow when I reached them, so yes Whisperer and Geologist do it too)
But you do see them all wiping sweat with effort (
)
Also during the fireworks days at aviary, every spirit guide uses their own hand magic to make fireworks (except steward who needed a staff)
Since the elders are currently labeled by devs after what each realm is based on (Dawn, Day, Rain, etc..) and Eden is “Storm”, maybe that’s what he is now?
Also maybe Eden used to be Midnight before it was Storm
storm elder has a ring to it
Theoretical what the valley elder would look like if merged as one
(Hints to them being one elder: They each have one eye, one normal arm, one strange arm (that could be prosthetics), their throne/gravestone is just one split down the middle)
Sentient, maybe. I like to think of the wl as places the original sky kid stood, and that the wl are just ethereal remnants of their energy. Or if you'd take on a deferent perspective by taking eden into account, all the spirit statues in eden are according to cannon, skids that ☠️ in eden.
When doing eden, we offer the energy of the wl to the statues so they can awaken and get into orbit. Maybe the wl are sentient and are more like spirit memories, but in order to fulfill the memory you have to get the wl spirit to eden first, and the places you find them were their favorite spots. (we all have our favorite spot in the realm) But that wouldn't make sence as there are a lot more wl in the world of sky than there are spirit statues in eden.
But that's just my opinion. 😁👍
maybe there are more lights than spirit statues because of the wing buffs you get from spirits? obviously there is still an overwhelming number of winged lights compared to spirit statues, but i guess the wing buffs could be remnants of the spirits’ energy that they are giving
idk if any of that made sense
hopefully
It could also be that there once were enough statues but that they disappeard over time, we saw the same thing in eden where there was a child statue but it turned into dust
why do krills attack us in the first place
well krills are hungry for light
Is there a reason why the elders have names from the Hebrew alphabet? Like is Sky supposed to be some allegory from the Torah or did the creators just think it sounded/looked cool lol?
That was only used in concept art/development and has been scrapped/isn't canon.
For the 'why' you'd have to ask the devs.
Oh do they have new names now?
From Alasdair:
The Elders have names based off Hebrew letters from concept development that are no longer canon, though the fandom sometimes refers to them as such:
Isle – Daleth (ד)
Prairie – Ayin (ע)
Forest – Teth (ט)
Valley – Samekh (ס) (They share a name. Though fandom often calls one ‘Sah’ and the other ‘Mekh’ to differentiate)
Wasteland – Tsadi (צ)
Vault – Lamed (ל)The devs refer to the Elders by the times of day their realms represent:
Isle – Dawn
Prairie – Day or Daylight
Forest – Rain
Valley– Sunset
Wasteland – Dusk
Vault – Night
besides that, they're mostly just refered to by their titles (Isle Elder, etc.)
I see thanks
i think it's the latter
By the way, does anyone know what exactly the prairie peaks are doing during days of nature?
there's a darkness shard landing in the river and corrupting the water/spawning the lurking darkness creature
to keep the darkness from spreading to the entire valley, the ancestor spirits builds a dam to catch the darkness sprouts and burn them
That makes me wonder though, will that dam be there forever ?
Maybe
Also something else I noticed, the 8 player room changed from how it used to look
There’s now a spot where you can put on a cosmetic (I think it was cape? I don’t remember), and not any others… just that one, it’s a strange spot to put a changing station
And it’s next to a hill which has a little house built inside, with a winged light (it wasn’t there before)
What do you think is the reason? Maybe the prince gets his cape in this area in the show?
I believe that's for changing capes for the Days of Color event. That event is centered around the 8 player room but with a catch of requiring capes of each color of the rainbow to be worn. So I'm guessing the changing room is just to make it easier to swap if you can fill a color gap when you get there.
Ohhh, had no idea! Thanks!
If you look around the circle, you can even still see which color was needed where
i have genuine question if light is white or yellow, then why are we black? (I'M NOT RACIST! I'M JUST CURIOS)
ohhh that makes more sensee that's maybe also why we honk and not talk to spirits
why'd stone need air to breathe?
if you look at it like that, we are made of light just the light body we had cooloff and became stone, so we go in eden to get out light release but eye of eden just reborns us to continue our journey and never return home, that's why we never been one of the fallen ones, we are the light that always gets to be reborn (maybe theory or complete nonsense)
our stone bodies doesn't need air, neither the light bodies of us inside the stone, it's probably the water being too cold underwater and it cools off the light eventually burning out the heat from the light inside us, so we need sun light to heat the light (prob nonsense, yet it somehow makes sense to me)
then are all those bubble areas hot water sources? sky kingdom must have lots of thermal activity
most likely
You do not burn out underwater but still can lose WLs bypassing burnout. Also there’s an item that literally extends the time for how long you can stay underwater and it’s a rebreather mask.
So I don’t think it’s the water being cold or something. I think it’s skykids requiring air.
Fire does require air after all
I think orbit is an exception due to kids being ascended (making them immune, like a super form for them)
Like how they can run through pitch black darkness, destroy darkness and skate on water with it
Yea but you don’t actually burn out when underwater. Even when you drop WLs
if sky kids are made of light that is trapped inside stone, then why do we need air, afterall light isn't fire
They have a candle in them, it’s probably that fire
I mean, I think skykids are a bit more complicated that just being golems. They can eat and sleep
Actually a new cutscene was added for new players acquiring the candle they hold.
Oh! I had no idea
The devs never put a way to see it if you already were playing past Aviary
that's possible, but if they are light in stone, why do they eat, sleep and drink?
it may not even be stone after, maybe the light is trapped inside some living creature that looks like stone but needs basic human needs expect air, only candle needs air from it being fire
But the candle is just found on the floor and using your light, gets relit and basically just becomes something you keep.
They also have a form of bleeding
Ancestors seemed to need it, they had to do fishing and cooking and stuff, and they did get tired and sleep
Meanwhile Sky kids, it’s not necessary but they can if they want, and Sky kids do feel like an ancestors 3.0
sky kids bleed?
I mean we are sort of ancestors to a certain part I guess
The blue crystals that protrude out of you when in critical state. If you let a crab vibe check your legs, your legs will form the shards
they probably do, they always close their eyes when lying down, a lot of lying down models for hammock and beds look like sleeping positions
Yeah, Sky kids can sleep but don’t need to (just like with eating)
Ancestors needed sleep, they had beds, one spirit memory has a tired worker go collapse on a bed
I wonder if Eden was an attempt to replicate the Sun.
the Sun in what wy, for what purpose? And are you referring to the beam or the crystal?
eye of eden could be and experiment on replicating the sun, but it must went wrong from one of elders (prob the king) that sabotage it and the eden instead released a bunch of light which fell on ground creating moth aka "skykids" that's probably why all the sky kids exist, we are all maybe just light that escaped from eden and our goal is to come back but the eden always launches us in orbit which orbit will probably just throw us back on ground to "reborn" us
that's my theory how sky kids are born, you can disagree if you want
Crystal and I don’t know. A lot of the murals show Eden as emitting light that people prayed and admired. Eden also does that weird thing when you hit 0 where it glows like the sun for a moment.
it possibly glows as it is calling our light to enter it and go into orbit for our reborn
from my understanding like with most crytals it was for power, and like just like all crystals it needed a light to work so the kingdom decided to take the ascension beam for it
but then it overloaded and blew up, the calling of sky kids were later to save people
this game's yet another environmentalist cautionary tale after all
Might be, but I’m not sure we actually end up at the Eden shard itself… what if that void area is like a place between places.
Like a place that connects to everywhere and nowhere at the same time.
probably the inside crystal (eden) are the memories we see from red crystals as memory of what was happening in eden before catastrophy
The only times we’ve been to that place are shattering guide, shattering memories, leviathan, and Eden
And dying prematurely
Oh yea. Forgot that one. But that makes me think it’s more likely a place between places
Like a limbo
yea i'm probably just sayin nonsense tho, how would it go together hmm
Actually the shattering guide always takes you to the memories… but they’re just memories. Yet abyss has one with something else alive in it… so it’s not a memory?
maybe the eden crystal wasn't suppose for power at all it was probably just something that could hold memory of elders so they could be reborn without losing all of their memory
So like what the sun does?
the sun probably never existed in sky universe, maybe it's just orbit that's emiting all the light and acts like sun
Well the sun, or that big ball is something.
It makes a liquid-like sound so it’s probably molten. But it also has Orbit… is orbit like the shard memories?
orbit could be inside the eden shar / crystal, so it is possible
If the limbo is related to Eden. Then maybe if Eden is a failed attempted at replicating the sun, then orbit is the counterpart to it.
Cause Orbit is also a limbo. You’re not dead or alive
But orbit also holds the key to being reborn with the door
where's gametheory when we need him
Retired
what a shame, i bet this chat would be more alive if he did made video about sky lore
(any recommendecion to look on?)
Not sure
probably yea
Sky never really got picked up by any of the big names that I know of.
there's not much content and it's all high personal interpretaiton anyway we could endlessly make stuff up
king waz a lizard person
sky doesn't have actual lore?
Smart Question: Does Sky actually has a lore?
I mean like everyone has their own opinions on a lot of things in world of Sky and the way that it's explained it's kinda complicated like some people saying that all creatures of dark are originally light and some people doesn't agree (including me) and also the game is just a ♻️ like seriously you always start your journey again like nothing happened and the way that darkness being explained is overrated right now I still don't know how darkness conquered both GW and Eden so fast than light speed we know king's face and it's name but we don't know it's buddy. Basically Sky lore is messed up for me personally it remains unknown you just rebirth and move back to the place where you belong to then you rebirth and yep really it's very hard to know if the game ACTUALLY has lore or not.
tbh for me it was always "yeah it's up for interperetation" much like journey was with the murals. until i played the aurora quest for The Seed, where in the battlefield they are fighting creatures of light. that's where it clicked for me like "oh TGC has a little canon tucked away that they're working on"
really i think most of it has to do with the way the universe works and what exactly happened to bring it to the state it's in now. probably a lot of those circumstances have been retconned to some degree after release.
like the transition from wasteland to vault has always felt awkward to me, li feel like they set it up pretty late in development and didn't have time to make it fit better
I also wonder how vault of knowledge doesnt have any darkness presence like it's literally the closest place to Eden and what makes me more curios are these guards, why everyone is scared of them? What is their main job? they were guarding some door and then a spirit was sneaking thro cuz she was scared of gettiing discoverd by them i still wonder whats wrong with these guards if anyone has an answer
more like you won't get tones of content like some rpg, there is lore, it's jut minmal with hardly any or no text and "depends on your interpretation"
there are 2 spirit memoreis about them, the first one was a spirit tries to save someone from death and the second one got discoverd which is this memory right now
i don't think they're the same, they're just generic soldier models
like how often we use the pointing candle maker's model on background characters
Can someone explain to me why in the end of the flying intro the players cape disintegrates?
all we know is that there was some for war for some reason. We don't know if it's civil war or some outside kingdom or group, tho civil war is pretty popular theory and easier to explain than a faraway country.
as for lack of darkness i think the place barely had outside exposure and nobody brought containers with plants inside, besides everything past the second floor isn't physical which is also why after meditating at the shrine the room changes
What is THIS
The flying intro?
flying to where, since when has that been a thing?
Flying to who knows where it’s been in for about a month
they made a new intro at some point and when you first start the game you land in aviary village after a little "taste of power" sequence
So wait you start the game and then you just get this sequence
You start a new account this intro is for new players
initally you're just a skykid having a blast and flying then you get struck by lightning and lose your cape and fall to the ground with no wings, like as an alternative to starting in isle of dawn
huh...
for gameplay implications it gives new players an idea of what they can do later on after getting some wings.
as for lore implications i think it just adds to the "skykids are scattered about the world" idea
the vibe i got from it is that the military had enacted curfews or simply restricted people's movement by that point. perhaps a civil war had been brewing or started by then
That kind of thing does happen during a war
The way they’re arresting the boy’s caretaker reminds me for how they’d send people to arrest someone they find suspicious or rebellious (e.g there’s rumors this person has been spying or giving to enemy info)
Or in tyrant countries they do this without necessarily having a war
Looked it up, according to Wikipedia, they did hold curfews during WW2 and Gulf War which was detrimental to people like homeless (or in the case of Sky, someone trying to find outside herbs to cure their sick friend)
Maybe not necessarily curfew, maybe she was sneaking outside her land’s borders (or past enemy lines) during a war which wouldn’t be allowed
yeah, it wouldn't necessarily have to be civil war. really just any conflict. or an opressive government
Ermmmmmm guys i have a question
The season of nesting has that painting of the forest elder with the season guide. So do the elders actually interact with the citizens of each realm?
(I mean its not too surprising for political leaders to talk with citizens but theyre usually in rallies. But she is with that quest giver alone?)
Yep. It is up to ur imagination to think what happened between them
In my personal belief, I assume this was just a last-minute rushed final touch of lore so ppl would actually discuss abt the season since there's literally nothing else abt it that is worth discussing anyway. So imo I don't think this piece of lore is that important cus I doubt they will even bring it up again
I guess theres another piece of evidence to support it
I saw in the prophecy caves the drawing w/ elders and some randos standing by them in those cave drawings.
Elders had to have interaction with the ancestors because they're their mentor and ppl seek them for guidance n stuffs
The fire inside our stone needs oxygen
Honestly though from what ive seen the government was crappy as hell it seems (in sky)
They only pretend to, it's not a biological function
Absolutely, look at the Vault cutscene, the elders regularly interacted with the season
Indeed
I can say that this is not the first case. When the season of flight came out, the season guide description included this. That he studied or was associated with the Elder of the Prairie
Yea i forgot about the other instances of them. Havent played in over a year
It's ok
It remains unsure whether they actually did smthg bad enough to call them crappy at leading the Sky kingdoms, like we still dk what they were doing while the war was happening, plus tgc never had the intention to make someone outrightly bad at the beginning
To me theres enough evidence to point to an unstable government. Then again, you are right, tgc gave us peanuts to work with
Real
well actually why not just wait until the final quest comes? we may see them both in face
Atp various headcanons can make sense because of how little they gave us
Ye we’ll see
it's not even exposed, and that core is solid it shouldn't need anything
What I actually find interesting are Crabs attacking the wood we´re sent to collect with the Nesting Guide at Forest End though.
Woodlice/pillbugs?
I believe the elders are representations of each major part to be a leader, like wisdom
, strength
, companionship
, durability
, workmanship
, and harmonious
Think it's just for challenging ig
Challenge or not, it´s interesting to think what else would crabs potentially eat when there´s no Skykids to attack.
And pillbugs, which are crustaceans, do mainly eat decaying plant matter like wood.
Crabs don't even have mouth so they're not rodents but who knows if they even eat anything lol
they're professional haters
they even attack furniture
I legit thought that that is something pillbugs would do and since devs once asked what is a Sky Crab ...
)from what I remember, that is).
They also have major weaknesses, which is opposite of the season of prophecy virtues:
resilience-earth- prairie elder constantly sleeps
patience-water- forest elder quickly snatches your light
balance-air- valley elders focus on entertainment over everything else
courage-fire- wasteland elder acts scared, lashing out at the air
Im new to sky, just playing for 10 days.
But does the Aurora quest , the scenes related to the lore? If so, Do you think the Wasteland Hunters that fights Krills, do they eat the krills?
you have a home in the Sky Queendom!
that aurora quest features fragments from the war, not really a hunting party
but maybe krill can be eaten, we don't know
this ofc assuming we treat collabs as canon things, which I don't
I think the only collab that I considered cannon is aurora
Good points, while we don't have anythg in great details of them but there's just so many interesting itty bits of info abt them
How do we eat Grandma's food if we don't have mouths?
Aurora stands between the line of canon and uncanon
Although if you think of the war like Fallout with low amount supplies, ppl eating krill can be possible
We never actually ate them, we just burn them then they convert to waxs
Irl krill are delicious but since Krills are big, they might taste like shrimps.
I mean, we know the king has a mouth, does that count?
Wait a king? Im really new to the game so I'm still figuring out the lore stuff, but it's really fun 😄
We for certain don't have mouth and can only communicate through honks, while the ancestors are more likely to have mouth and their own language
We can drink tea from the furniture stuff tho?
That guy in the constellation! :))) In the vault of knowledge, the crown revealed a figure eating an orb, which is most likely the king
Not eating 😭
They're just holding an orb most likely the Megabird
Oh, i didn't noticed much,
Do u recommend any yt vid explaining sky lore?
There's alot, you can search for a compilation of sky lore vids
I learned all of this by searching "Sky cotl Tom Zhao" on pinterest, but youtube does have good lore videos!
If we rely on fire, or any light source to stay alive... does that mean we are Photosynthesizing? Idk, Sky kids biology is very fascinating
Did you ping the wrong chat 🤔
Yeah 🥲
Thanks everyone 🥺👉❤️👈
You're welcome! :)))
Have a little headcanon that the reason why the rain in the hidden forest drains your light is it's probably Acid rain from the wasteland
So thats why, those black moldy mushrooms started to grow in the hidden forest is probably the result of wasteland rain water
Yeah, that's what i think, too!
I'm pretty sure the darkness plants are based off of carnivorous plants? not completely sure, though.
(for more lore in the game, i'd check the prophecy cave runes every once and a while,)
if the forest temple door is any implication, is that the darkness plants were always there before gw's pollution
the dark plants and light creatures are used to make power crystals, and the door animation shows that
I see Darkness plants more as a parasitic plant taking the nourishment from nearby natural plants.
That's why they grow back fast if you stop burning them.
The wasteland have huge and big darkness plants.
Then most places where darkness plants located in the forest are near sources of water, or the ones with lest light areas
the temple's also a crystal factory, gw had multiple bigger versions of it. My guess is that after figuring out how to create power crsytals they created factories at gw and it all went to hell
Oh, i see, naruhodo
Interesting! I've checked concept art and The hidden forest was a place that "manufactured" dark stones, so they were probably there before Golden wasteland.
I watched too much nature documentary as a kid so i speculated it's a metaphor for Polution
The Elder of the Eye of Eden, they are dead but are referenced in various murals
(the mouth looks more like a neck collar to me)
The prophecy guide looks strangely like Anubis
I’ve noticed this for a lot of the guides:
Flight > Hermes/Freya
Dreams > Hestia (w/o vale)
Nesting > Brigid
The devs take inspirations from all around. Prophecy guide certainly has some anubis/jackal inspiration.
Dreams guide is a bit of a stretch. They're wearing something more inspired by a kimono from the looks of it.
and Freya isn't commonly depicted with wings on her head like that
That’s why I put Hermes first. But, it was more on the chariot wings I was going for. I couldn’t find a good picture with it
I took it more on the behavior due to Hestia being the goddess of the hearth and home. The dreams guide gives off the vibe to me
Imo that would fit more to the Belonging guide
According to the the concept art, those are made from something called "darkstone" (which can absorb Light). The process is also toxic and is a source of "corruption"
It's similar to the other Prophets, for example fire prophet is a guardian lion and air prophet is camazots
But yea, the Forest Temple/factory was probably the first of its kind, and the ones in the Wasteland were built later. And it seems like the dark plants kinda spread alongside the industry. It's kinda unclear what they are exactly, but we see them pretty much anywhere we see those golden urns similar to the ones in the Temple
The Prairie was a source of butterflies for the darkstone charging industry and the plants even spread there. In the underground area of the Prairie Caves (where the Exhausted Dock Worker spirit is) you can see butterfly jars with something that looks like dark plants growing from them. Curiously, they cannot be burned, and seem to be "dead" (the only such occurrence in the game)
But yea the Forest and the Wasteland are probably toxic due go the fact they had those factories in them (Wasteland obviously got much worse than the Forest by the end)
If the devs officially called the new monsters Lurkers, does anyone know what they called the leviathan? If you have been following beta chats or anything (I don’t because I don’t wanna be spoiled)
Interesting how often miners died in hidden forest and if forest elder even cared about it...
Just sharing my little thought after seeing the "does sky have lore?" message way back, but I think the lore began to emerge more when the Season of Prophecy began, bc the amount of players playing the game started to escalate around Enchantment and Sanctuary. That's just my thoughts tho
It has been there since the game started
I'm kinda confused - why do the skykids dress and look like the spirits, when they are a different species?
They seem to like learning from ancestors and taking after them
Part of what confuses me is how the player looks like one of the spirits, even before meeting any of them.
it has been here since before the game started.
imagine if us humans all died out, and God sent a new improved version of human
you'd think they would look and dress almost the same as us Ancestors, right?
Hi lore chat, we were just wondering in qnh, what could darkness plants be referencing? So far we had decaying funghi, huge stinging nettles, or a type of big-leafed cactus
us Descendants and the previous Ancestors are only different species in terms of evolutionary improvements, we all came from the same source, we're all this game's version of "human", just different evolutionary stages/purposes
the Forest Temple, after initially unearthing Darkstone ore for the first time, was made to be a kind of factory to harvest the light from creatures & use it to power refined Darkstone Batteries that were also smithed/forged in said Temple.
the residue from these harvested animals is what makes the water in Forest toxic and harmful to us, and it's also safe to assume that this is what helped to fertilize the first dark plants
as you said, the Wasteland is more of the same, just a little later, and also the realm where dark creatures were first concepted (treasure reef creature refinery), so it's more potent in darkness & was naturally the focal point of the war
Evolution as in natural selection, not like pokemon
yup, i never implied Pokémon
Just clarifying
i made the comparison to human evolution, not Pokémon, no need to clarify :)
Pokémon evolution is far too drastic to compare to Sky's Ancestors & Descendants
Darwinism is more accurate; subtle changes over eons of time - we were sent "decades after our Ancestors died out" by the Bird of Light, and we are effectively the same race as Ancestors, with 2 new abilities that are subtle in terms of visible evolutionary changes:
-flight
-flame control (ancestors could manipulate light, not flame)
it's just a rapid mode of evolution, which also have real world examples
"Darwinism is more accurate" - i say about a game where we are created & sent to the world by a god then made to make our way back to heaven to reincarnate
so many parallels to evolution and religious philosophies lol. Christianity and Buddhism + Darwin's evolution = Sky CotL
Has anyone considered with skykids whats nature and whats nurture?
wdym
our nature is to follow the Light and seek out spirits of the past to help them Ascend with us, and to rid the world of darkness & corruption
our nurture is those same spirits bringing their cultures, festivities, fashion & arts/music to us, as well as teaching us personality traits such as emotes and stances, in a way they are guiding us as a new developing species
I've heard theories that the Hopeful Steward is a skykid because they look like us, but how can that be if they're a spirit? What about the cycle of death and rebirth?
I mean, I know you have to go to Eden to have a proper rebirth but even if you die outside of there by losing all wl, you go to the pity room and regain your light, you don't stay stuck somewhere as a spirit like Hope is.
by that logic every child spirit would be a sky kid since they look like us. The steward is not a sky kid
but hey maybe megabird was insipred by that puntable idiot when creating us, who knows
My Idea is that they sacrificed themselves. Cause they r the first spirit we meet when we first start in Ivory.
Maybe they sacrificed themselves so they can show us (the one who’s supposed to save the whole kingdom) the Village and revive it
||Just a thought ||
ohh i like this idea, it would make a nice parallel (maybe in the Two Embers?) with the theory of the Prince/King being a skykid too.
two skykids trapped in death, one because they voluntarily sacrificed themself to help others, and the other one trapped as punishment for hurting the world
Omg this is gooodd
there is evidence that the prince is an in-between stage between us Descendants and the Ancestors (if we look at it like an evolutionary chart), and I have thoughts that he & the Steward are the only 2 of their kind (regarding whoever said they look like skykids - last week, someone pointed out that the Steward has one of the diamond-shaped chest cavities that we have for our candles - you just have to look reeeaally close).
love your thoughts further down regarding Eden and Sacrifice/Punishment
Not only that, but prince has a chest light like Sky kids (while ancestor kids don’t)
See here
So when you think about it, megabird may have sent the prince down, the first Sky kid, to get all the spirits back up to the sky (since they live in constellations and stuff)
That failed as he ended up enjoying living there, and growed up massive as a king, even bigger than the elders (which means other Sky kids can too?), that or he started riding a king mech which is funnier
So the megabird sent down another Sky kid possibly, Hopeful Steward (with the manatee) to fix all that, in the far future
and maybe Hope failed because they, once again, were just one singular skykid, and that's why there's so many of us now - which is a nice origin story for sky's central theme of connection and friendship
Aren’t these two the prince’s caretakers? (Ushering stargazer and boat mask guy)
And you can take their hands too and mess around, as if they’re parents
possible, we don't know if the dropped sky kid was the prince
especially more so since the new intro, if taken as canon
Are the colored light orbs from enchantment one of a kind? Can they not be renewed? We could solve so many environmental problems if we could recreate them
_> Not sure it’s a good idea to mess with that. Last time they tried to mess with stuff they didn’t fully understand it killed everyone
Well the ark did turn out fine
I don’t think they wanted to have it end up in pieces though. It only turned out fine cause we fixed it partially.
Oh for sure but I didn't include that part because that's just eden explosion and not colored light going crazy
I'm thinking of recreating more colored light and rehablitating other areas, and if that's possible or were those orbs just one of a kind and there's no more now
nature, cat like tendencies to see if we fit in small spaces, nurture, the need to run for wax and play w shard crabs
I dont know if they can be recreated, but I did notice something interesting
You know how when you burn anything, like a candle, darkness, those things from campfires, etc... They will mostly release an orange light?
If they've been underwater, they release blue lights (commonly seen in prairie peaks, or opening clams that were underwater)
Or if they're near darkness, like freeing the crabs from the pot and burning their darkness, or one time in polluted geyser where I burned it, it will release red lights
And it is based on where they were burned/opened, for example the same balls of darkness could release blue and red lights at the same time (in polluted geyser)
If there's been other colored lights I havent seen them yet
I mean the last usage of them was to give a kid little ribbons in his hair.
What are your thoughts on Resh's story? How did he and Eden became corrupted? What happened?
Hi just a question sometimes this bell rings is it because someone completed eden ?
You actually can, it's a very niche thing
when you die in Eden and you're waiting for people to die, you actually become a spirit orb for a short while
so maybe Hopeful Steward's like that
This is probably the plot of the Two Embers
Although the big question is the timing
It's possible that they lived at the same time
Such as?? Should we just rain fire on the Golden Wasteland
Resh is also known as the Eden Elder: #lore-discussion-spoilers message
No, I think it's every hour
Isn't it Alef?
Alef is considered to be the younger version of Resh. While Alef is called the Prince, Resh is called the King.
are they both dead?
yes, "no longer around to be saved", which basically means dead
well if only 6 orbs are enough to clear out a large area we could definitely rehab gw, or at least the land. The sea of slouching soldier's alcohol dark water may be too much without partioning. The dark cratures are definitely destructible too
The hugging Winged Light have masks; never noticed that before
Only these ones, right?
The fact that you are behind them makes these images more memorable, but ye it seems like these are the only ones so far with masks
Ye these are the only ones
I knew that but initially disregarded it since it's just an orb and not a full spirit-person like Hope, but yknow now that u mention it, that could support the previously mentioned ideas of Hope willingly staying a spirit to help revive their village when the time comes - they too are waiting for someone, just like a dead skykid in eden waits for their friends
No it rings based on time.
When they changed the underwater lights to blue they said it was for aesthetic purposes iirc
Awww.. I thought it was changing to match the colored lights, that’s a shame…
Based on these in game things
No reason for it not to be, if light touches purified water it may turn blue, though that isn't necessarily the same as "blue light" from enchantment, or the blue light in the water trial in prophecy
i think the last two are connected
dark blue means water, while the light blue might represent abscence of light or something? after all, in the elder cutscenes, their eyes go from light blue to yellow
just popped in to say that light blue in the colored lights means ice while but on the point that void made, the elders were corrupt in somr way by darkstone and when darkstone is lit and corrupts the light it also turns blue so yea
When did the elders get corrupted? The Eden shard memories show all of them getting killed.
I don't think they got corrupted
some old lore hints said something along the lines of "the Elders are trapped in a place beyond space and time" which would be the pocket you find them in when meditating at the temples
so I think they did kinda die
they got trapped in these timeless spaces after the shattering I believe
there are hints to a corrupted Tsadi (wasteland elder) thing but they mostly belong to old concepts and to a beta version of the Aurora concert so I believe they were scrapped
Not sure we can rely on scrapped content for lore…
yeah, that's why I don't believe they're canon anymore
I went on an Eden photography trip to see if I could spot anything new
- I’m pretty sure the sun shield side did belong to the king… coupled with the wounded soldier having a king emblem while his friend had a sun shield… then…? It wasn’t a battle of nature vs technology, just a civil war
- I don’t know if we should be so quick to dismiss the concept art King’s ark anymore… when you look, you see the shape of a ship in the second image
Birds’ migration pattern (with help of the krill lighting up the pipe for me)
The birds are legit flying into the pipes
I think the city people took advantage of this and it’s fueling the Eden diamond, likely
We’ve seen the birds migrations in every level
-In Isle, they fly when the elder guides them
-(I can’t remember where in prairie)
-In Forest, you see them flying towards the forest temple
-In citadel you see them flying towards the temple leading to the flight race
-(idk if you see them in golden wasteland)
-(Nor Vault)
It can be assumed this is a long migration pattern from isle to Eden where they were supposed to go to the giant light beam to ascend to orbit
But because of urbanization and light pollution, their migration pattern was probably disturbed (this happens to birds in real life because of urbanization and light pollution) and they were tricked into the pipes
On corrupted crabs
Only now do I realize they have darkness covering their eyes, which are blue
When you place one on a flame without holding it, nothing happens
When you hold a crab over a flame, it changes colors alternating from orange and red as if being cooked, and has yellow eyes
Idk if this heals them
The statues that disintegrate have eyes, and when you go check the spots they were disintegrated at, all you see is legs left behind
Also due to a glitch, the red shards turned into candle wax (someone said this has been happening since season of shattering so it’s probably a consequence of that)
You think it could ever be possibly canon? That red shards can be turned into candle wax and Eden heals?
And a surprise photobomb from a player dashing through
ohhh this is extremely interesting
I hadn't noticed
#screenshots-and-videos message
Saw a screenshot from another player, it does look like an ark/boat is under the castle
Hello lore chat, I was wondering if there’s a reason for this rock in hidden forest, by the bonfire? Or it just there just cuz
Its marking every 15 minutes if i remember correctly
Huh interesting. Also does anyone else feel like the hide and seek cave keeps changing? It looks like it keeps getting bigger, like it’s gonna be used or something
Not really lore related imo, it's showing the time on a clock like a timer almost and it spawns a rainbow from it at <t:1717848038:t> and <t:1717891238:t> everyday. (Timestamps are listed in your timezone)
Hi hello, can anyone recommend me a good lore video to binge on?
pings on when replying please ^^
Popping in to say something, though idk if its worth anything, but its interesting how our skykids are fine with swimming but for some reason the forest rain damages us (I suppose the reason can be as silly as we as humans are irl where we complain about natural rain but enjoy showers and pools) however we can see spirits when alive could live comfortably in forest, not affected by the rain as we are, their spirit can take damage when in exposed rain and the game mechanic just so happens to place the spirit tasks under ledges to avoid it draining but we do see the spirit memories portray them wandering or playing around in the rain as if it's not a thing they need to avoid like we do
And though it's debatable to say the gameplay mechanic showing the spirits taking cover under ledges or such, I think is more for gameplay mechanic than actual lore reasons because if the spirits whilst alive were damage affected by the forest rain as we were, I don't think there would be parents letting their kids play around in deadly rain, or we see many jobs take place such as miners in the forest, and ideally there would be more man built structures in forest to take cover under
I like to think it is the pollution
The Hidden Forest temple has this fancy technology that uses these kind of crystals (More can be found in Vault of Knowledge)
Some theorized that these crystals are manufactured in the Golden Wasteland where there are large factories, the giant pipes and all that you see
The darkness plants in Daylight prairie are scarce, more appears in the Hidden Forest
It does have strange rain, it rained in prairie peaks for days of bloom and it didn’t hurt at all, and lightning fully recharges players instantly
(Likely forest rain has become tainted into acid rain)
I think the rain was fine at first, but it became polluted over time
Also, it's like real life, where the parents and children don't know about the effects of pollution
A thought on the manta we meet in Prairie, and follow through to Wasteland, I wonder if the elders how we see adults at each life stage, that manta is how we see our friends
Prairie / youth: our friends are young and eager as we are
Forest / teens: excited to join us through the gates, get tangled in darkness, but we are there to free us
Valley / adulthood: joins with other friends and boosts us through the challenges
Wasteland / aging: when you get old and friends start to leave for one reason or another
Vault / elderly: the memories of our friends stay with us, even if they aren't around
Neat. The whole squad changed since the last time i've been here
how come in any other realm when you lose your light your skykid turns completely black, but in wasteland you just go grey? is this just a glitch or is there a lore reason
I have a feeling that is more to do with lighting, but I may be wrong
what squad
every hour it rings as reference to in real life churches and their bells
Could someone summarize all the sky lore for me here or in dms :3 im really interested in it but im super lost right now
I wanna start making up theories n stuff but i can’t if idk the lore LOL (also i want to do my sky ocs backstories heh)
Thing is, the lore is very vague, so feel free to make it up as you go! But do know it revolves around mainly Eden, elders, the origin of sky kids and light and dark
no yeah i know it’s been mentioned that it’s very open ended for the players but I’d like to hear some of the most popular theories that r fanon:3
throne of every elder?
that's a broken version of the shrine in the top of the vault
but still, is it their chairs?
it looks more like grave markers to me, but either could work
I think the connection between nesting guide and Forest prophecy is related to the sunny forest
Basically imo, the sunny forest at the end of forest is sort-of a sacred place? Maybe it contains rare types of wood and the reason to build the concrete doors is to protect it? Nesting guide is supposed to be a wood worker and I believe they helped Forest elder to retain that specific part of the forest to keep harvesting that type of wood since the woods in the workplace are either not as rare, corrupted, or is running low
thats a nice thought
Can someone give me a nice summary of all the theories that we have on lore? I'm super new on all of this, but the little things I read are so wholesome
I wanna become a hardcore fan hahah

Depents of what exactly you wanna know cause if you want to have ALL the lore...well its gonna take ya a while: https://sky-children-of-the-light.fandom.com/wiki/User_blog:Amity206/Sky_Lore_Theories
The other link uses too much concept art, which isn't a good starting off point, I recommend this document:
There's also lore videos I can dm you
get crystallized to death > hug the guy > something turns off the calamity that's been destroying the world for centuries and you go to orbit
any takes on why? is that a cause & effect thing or does it just seem like it
I realize it doesn't stop the eden mechanic forever, like you can just go back and get pelted with rock rain right away. but it seems like clear weather in the little cinematic when you emerge and fly to orbit, and it also occurs to me that it doesn't go away just as a game mechanic, like going through a dungeon repeatedly in a typical mmorpg
I don't think it's destroyed, I think we're flying high above the PNR diamond
I'll record the moment I'm referring to next time I go through. I mean the moment your character pops out of an ash statue as pure light and zooms up with a couple others. I don't think there's any rock rain in that little cinematic.
I got the impression the rock rain was inhibiting all creatures from being able to ascend to orbit, and that's what's being telegraphed with you "dying" in Eden by becoming one of the statues, then escaping the statue as light.
Just going to share this brilliant article about the music of Sky, motifs, and how Prophecies Trials is the only piece of music which incorporate both motifs, more so how it affects how we view the void and the king/prince
https://www.tumblr.com/lelanida/749918328355717120
Thanks to hatter for pointing it out to me

Sky music my beloved
Pretty good! I did notice the flight song pretty much everywhere in the game, during triumphant moments (mostly when flying) and as motifs for some areas (e,g during the fireworks party)
Also noticed the Eden motif plays during shard events and when entering the shattering void
And nesting workshop and village of dreams have the same motif for some reason
Fireworks festival, nesting workshop, aviary shops, and village of dreams are the same motif
My guess is the Dreams Guide's influence and both of them being aspirational communities
Ahh I was misremembering the fireworks having the flight theme then
Also I find it funny that in the concept timeline, the king asks the wasteland ancestor to build the boat and not… you know, the forest elder who has a building mentee (and is probably themed around crafting)
King: We need to build a ship that will get us to Eden. Wasteland elder, I command you to do it
Wasteland elder: What?! But I- but I’m a- (gestures to Forest elder, then whispers to them)
He does know I’m the warrior one, right? You’re the crafting one!
Forest elder: don’t question it
They have all of them
Also in the timeline, isle elder retired because there was no more souls to guide, it’s funnier to think an elder can just quit on the job
I wonder if he chilled out with the other ancestors
Well, they still did stuff, such as trying to stop the eden diamond
True
According to the lore timeline, the prince appointed the elders himself, I guess that makes sense, we do see them appear only after he gets the elements in the murals
But that also means they all listened to a kid
Do crabs have gems for eyes
I'm really looking forward to another season that develops the lore in some way like shattering did. There's so many mysteries like it would be amazing if our death and rebirth cycle actually fueled some kind of regeneration process for the darkened realms (ie forest, wasteland and eden) in some way.
r volley eld gay... n r elders gay/genq/genq/genq/genq/genq/genq/genq/genq/genq
I love all the different takes on the dreams theme, from chilled in the Aviary shops, to elevator music in nesting workshop, to festival style in the fireworks intro
Well, I don't think so, the elders probably existed long before
How am I supposed to even approach this question???
go back to pixiv
Ok, let's work backwards.
Everyone in Sky is genderless, especially the Elders.
Genderless people can still be gay, but in a world without gender, it would practically mean the same thing as being straight
Sexuality would have a totally different meaning (I doubt it would even exist??) and the Valley Elders have no confirmed relationships with anyone in the Sky universe
no sthutup
Well they may be genderless but they are probably not sexless. At least based on the trailer for the embers film there seem to be parents and children so if we assume that families in Sky roughly mirror the real world there are certainly mothers and fathers. If that's taken to be true then certainly a male character can be in a relationship with another male character. If we are talking about attraction and sexuality then that's a whole other conversation since we don't know how sky people procreate or where the 'children' come from. It could very well be that children are just created from the energy and light of the connection between two souls if that makes sense
I'm not going to delve into the "anatomy" of spirits, but sky has a unique family structure that's probably different from the real world
Also, if spirits are anything like skykids, they probably just appear from the stars
I think there's a mural that says all are born from starlight
I recall some spirits appear to be a sky kid at some point
Grandma also has wings with 1 visible winged light (uncharged), while some other spirits dont really have it at all
Days of nature NPC seems to also have it tho
the capes used to have no wedge, so I'd not pay attention to them, just insignificant changes
Apparently the cape wedges are a bug
Just here to say I’ve just witnessed the new aviary start from a moth’s perspective and it’s so cool (I started playing 3 years ago) my boyfriend downloaded sky
The moth has full star wedges and then the cape goes poof
there's lots of little lore changes
This is like seeing your sweet little pet grow up to be this godsend of a legend
Indeed there is!
I just spent the last one hour reading the lore blog on wiki WHEW
indeed it is a bit sad i dont see any of the former lore discussion regulars here last time i used to lurk in this chat since many months ago 😔
although the ridiclous cooldown despite lorechat being deader than before might contribute to that
Might be because so many avenues of discussion of sky lore have been exausted so much
Just my two cents though and apologies if i sound like im rambling here
What to discuss....
Maybe what kind of other potential dark creatures could be out there?
I haven't really seen the eel from days of bloom sadly cuz i was on a slight hiatus from sky at that time, would be nice if anyone could provide pics maybe
i dont think we have lobsters in sky yet
barnacles in sky? maybe kinda like clams where you can pick them up for wax
Hmmm what other species could be in sky....
a rat?
i'd like a pet rat in sky, that'd be funny
Isopods in sky.
It's a match made in orbit frrrr
Your ideas would be pretty cool in another underwater themed season!
Maybe i should sketch up little light isopods!
I'd imagine millipede in sky would probably be neutral creatures that scavenge for remains
Centipedes are definitely dark creatures though and i'd be terrified seeing one
Oh no my apple pencil is 0%
Oh these are really great concept ideas.. do you mind if I use a few to draw?
Sure sure! Feel free
Another idea for sea creatures in sky, nudibranchs aka seaslugs
Probably light creatures underwater that emit wax
Nudibranchs are so cute
like these fellas!
Do we even have cephalopods in sky?
I'd love maybe a dark squid that will snatch any skykid up in the vicinity like the dark worm in days of nature
Maybe a cuttlefish??
leeches could passively suck out skykid light
leafy sea dragons could simply just float about near seaweed

man i could actually add these creature ideas to my sky au to make things livelier
Oo au? I am interested if you wish to share! (I do need to sleep now so I may not reply for awhile)
Speaking of creatures, what if the crabs are actually hermit crabs?
In game their bodies look weird, as if there’s two bodies, one with legs and a rock on top
And in the Embers trailer there are bell crabs (maybe there’s a body underneath that’s wearing armor on top?)
Look at this guy, notice how his body seems to be in two parts
It's an au that features several changes such as dark skykids existing (even krillkids), stuff about the eden elder, a guild of darkness hunting skykids, a special council of skykids that pretty much run the kingdom in proxy of their associated elder (with the exception of two members that have their own important duties such as maintenance and upholding the safety of the general public), a couple of skykid subspecies such as Novae (skykids with abnormally potent light but require stable bodies to live), Blue-Flamed (skykids born when they landed underwater but their flame managed to persist despite the water. they have blue flames and can survive underwater for way longer periods of time), children of stars (special skykids that have power from the megabird itself, the eden elder is one in the au, they're also all siblings), and elder skykids (special skykids of the council that have binded their souls to their respective elder and pretty much act as their proxy since elders cannot really interact outside of their space as of the moment). Some skykids can also be born with traits such as fox tails or dove wings (some skykids can be born under a constellation such as vulpecula that helps determine some of their traits. might add some fictional constellations maybe)
There's simply lots and lots of stuff I have written over the years with most stuff in private that at this point that I cannot summarize it all in one message
little goober with a helmet!
Maybe
(Just realized this isn’t a new theory, so credit to everyone who said it before)
This looks incredibly interesting
Also yea the eden elder has a proxy elder skykid despite..... circumstances
Resh and Alef are different people and siblings in the au but honestly i changed so many details about those two. Used to be one person and now I made them into siblings!
Resh is the older one and is the king. Alef is the younger one and is a prince.
For the purpose of this au, resh is considered the eden elder and his spirit is trapped within the eden diamond.
The circumstances in how resh gained their elder skykid proxy are not pleasant and was not intentional to the rest of the council.
Resh is sleeping now in the eden diamond in the present era of the au, just SNORK MIMIMIMIMIMIMIIII.
I also have an au in the works
oooooo
Any details?
We can discuss in dms if you’d like! Or here but I really need to be getting to sleep
im fine with rambling in dms!
Do you guys have theories about this phenomenon like they glow when the sky kid’s near but not the fire 🔥?
Probably something that was not programmed
For example if you place a crab on a fire, nothing happens,
But if you hold the crab over the same fire, its colors alternate between red and orange, and eyes glow yellow (as if being cooked)
I see thank you; so the blame is on the dev 😅🤣
Probably, sorry 😅
I don’t blame them, I don’t think they would expect people placing props near the crystals
Probably rendering that specific behavior would be a bit taxing
Thank all that this Shard Memory is of Whales. Closer comparison between Fainting Warrior/Wasteland Elder helmet and the Elder Whale head.
So where is Cinnamonroll in the lore?
#lore-discussion-spoilers message
They do seem to be in 2 parts, unless they're wearing glasses, when they're in 3
Love the sunglasses crab
Nice camera shot inside it!
I don't think there's a lore for it.
So cinamonroll is an anomaly?!? 😮
What are the implications?
just a random creature
it's just a non-canon collab, it doesn't mean anything at all or imply anything
as always, not everything is meant to be taken as canon, especially collabs
but what if it was intentional and canon? Aurora is canon right?
Well, something could be random/irrelavant and still be canon
I think most collabs are basically canon
Cinnamaroll doesn't break the sky lore by existing, they're just a weird looking bird thingy
Like maybe cinamonroll survived the rapture because it has no soul?
ah cinna's a dog boy
currently aren't all creatures alive either pure light creatures or dark creatures birthed from shards from eden?
not really, there are 'biological' creatures, like the crabs
yeah but aren't krabs and krill dark creatures?
there are corrupt crabs(those with dark particles on) and clean crabs
like crabs in the smaller isles around sanctuary are clean and also don't attack you
the crab memıry from shattering implies darkness fell on crabs and corrupted them, or at leats that's how i interpret it
It's possible though that the "clean" crabs could have been corrupted at one point and the corruption decreased over time, versus new, fresh shard crabs from eden shards, meaning that they could technically both be dark creatures still
is there another neutral creature in sky?
Nevertheless, it´s fun to speculate what those things would be in Sky lore and honestly, if you ask me, Cinnamoroll is what would happen if a Skykid would be reborn as a dog, given that he´s literally a Sky-Dog. 🤭
wait so does that mean cinamonroll went through eden? 😶
with like a light and dark cinamonroll in orbit?
Only the krills, worm, dark shadow and the king krill are dark creatures as for crabs they're light creatures but infected
Not as Cinnamoroll.
are you sure that they are light creatures? they do not give us light like other light creatures. As a matter of fact they can take our light
there's a crab plushie from the Remembrance Guide, right next to the manta
And it happens to be the favorite toy of one of the spirits?
I'd like to think it was a dark creature. But they may have been converted instead
Yeah, crabs could be dark creatures that have much less darkness now due to time
Or the other way around, they were light creatures that became more dark
so if all creatures are either light or dark and cinamonroll is neither then that means that cinamonroll must be a child of light
i don't know if anyone has evidence of cinamaroll recharging your light
Maby neutral creatures exist?
I don't think so, I have a feeling that any neutral creatures would have perished in the rapture and become spirits
I think all creatures in sky either charge your light or take it away
thing is what I noticed is that the crabs themselves dont take away your light by touch for example simular to how light creatures give light by touch.
But rather the dark creature has to physically attack you to drain your light
So ya Cinamonroll could have been a dark creature by that logic but since he didnt attack us he never drained our light
Hmm, maybe cinamonroll is a dark creature then
If that's true then does that mean that he's hiding his true power? 😶
And when we were close to find it out he left 😔
Imagine if cinamonroll could have taken on all those krill this whole time
Maby thats what hes doing rn, thats why there are only a few Krills left in the Kingdom and those are hiding in the sand 🤔
Tho...wouldnt that mean that not all dark creatures are necessarily evil?
I would say then that this must be the case given events such as days of mischief where krills and krabs are friendly
Maybe the ones we're used to seeing are just meanies
just big bullies thats all 😟
To be fair tho we are kinda just breaking into the crabs home in the desert and just scream at them until they get knocked over 😅
yeah but they attacked first! I swear!
castle doctrine
Hey guys! I was wondering if someone here could answer me the meaning of this? Because today I just realized that that poor dead manta is not just tragically lying down there, the whole thing seems staged. I mean, like it was purposely placed there. Ngl, kinda looks like a sacrificial lamb?🤣 So you guys tell me please, Im digging too much into it? ALSO, a friend just made me noticed that it may be NOT a manta, but a BIRD. A sparrow or a shallow, and damn, Im freaking out😭 Help? Any theory?
to me it looks like it's just made out of snow that's laying around, like a snowman but in the shape of a bird
What does the Light refer to?
appears The Light may refer to similar, yet slightly different things. In this context, it means going through the "Rebirth" in Eden and going into Orbit.
This was originally part of a scrapped quest from Beta, hence why it sometimes appear and sometimes doesn't. This 'snowbird' is most likely a swallow given how it is shaped
that's so cool, I didn't know about the beta aspect!! thank you:D
You're very welcome! It is now considered a little Easter Egg and a leftover from Beta
I know what it is for game progression. But what exactly is that lore wise? Is it the place before we reborn? Is it the name of the Megabird? Or something else? What is that Light?
yes to all the above
Megabird was a name used in concept art, and ingame is now refered to as the entity/force of nature that is the Light
gameplay-wise, 'visiting the Light' means to go to orbit, the place closest to/inside the Light
lore-wise, all creatures of light journey and ascent to join their memories and light with the Light/Megabird, until they are sent back down, sort of mimicing the cycle of water in our world - evaporating into a cloud and raining back into the land
That's good to know. So we're really the descendants of the Light (Megabird) due to the game title -- Children of the Light
Check this out! Once I was attacked by a crab, its small body underneath separated from the rock (the rock bouncing up)
It closed its eyes when going into what I’m calling “defensive mode”, then opened them again upon standing up
that's very honorable that you would let yourself get damaged purely for scientific analysis
It was an accident, I was trying to record a funny thing that shattering crabs get distracted by shared memory honks and I got injured
^ video of crabs chasing after a hologram
I don’t think it’s lore related, just developer oversight (like how shared memory deep honks used to instantly heal players, it was patched out sadly)
But they didn’t patch it so that the crabs don’t follow the memory deep honks
you could claim that it was intentional for research studies
I expected the video to show up but since it didn’t, here’s a link to screenshots with the same video
#screenshots-and-videos message
It was very helpful, especially since the server didn’t merge and I was stuck trying to burn the plants alone (which has happened an awful lot lately, is that a glitch?)
It is really funny imagining that the shattering crabs get so angry and offended at deep honks that they’ll chase even holograms
there's a moon in sky world
this probably keeps getting asked but are the elders related to each other? do they even interact with each other? and in what way?
I'm currently writing lore for my skykid and I'm already having issues with connecting them to valley of triumph and hidden forest 😭
they oversaaw parts of the kingdom ofc they had to interact with one another, forest needs light sources to make pwer diamonds for example and they import some from prairie, all data projectors at vault require diamonds so vault takes them from forest etc. They mya or may not be blood related, valley elders are twins
Or just go wild with your own canon
guys what the flip is this little thing
i know it looks like a clock and says probably 5 am or pm but idk what its purpose is
i found it some days ago and i have no idea
Just a clock for the rainbow that appears there
Here's a clock app for tracking by chris stead https://sky-clock.netlify.app/
ohhh i see thanks!
oh shoot thats pretty cool actually
so when it's o'clock the rainbow shows up i guess!
5 am and 5 pm pacific time, stays for 30 mins
wait there's a rainbow there?
They're like, parts of the same group
They interact twice in the main story: once in the final elder memory, right before the collapse of the kingdom, where they all worked together to stop eden from collapsing
and once in the present, where all of them bow to you in the Vault elder cutscene
Yeah there is. Rainbow appeared yesterday 😊
From the looks of it though
spirit doesn't look so dead either
yes they could appear and disappear
but at the same time they could still work on things (?)
in the cutscene the forest elder could still create things (?)
Also related to seasonal spirit (season of nesting) are basically opening a shop
furniture shop, someone gotta be making those stuff right?
(random 4am thought)
I think "dead" would be the state of like
losing all light, when they become statues(?)
I think they're more dead than alive
I theorize that skykids basically do all the "construction" work in the kingdom, like rebuilding the Treehouse and setting up areas for events
Spirits are ghosts, they can't really interact with the world
And the Elders are in a "place beyond space and time", they're not really present in the cutscenes
spirits definitely can interact with the world like enchantment group terraforming forgotten ark where we only grabbed the balls for them, tho we did sort of rebuilt the treehouse like you said
and nesting guide using telekinesis to place furniture in the first quest
I suppose they can use magic, but not physical stuff
I'm curious about the Moments Guide in this case
and if I recall also the Performance Guide?
The spirit related to the season sort of do things
I don't remember what they did
Once upon a time, in an ordinary day at Geyser, there were two 🐚 shell radios sitting on the ground. One was an old, classic AM radio named Rusty. The other was a sleek, modern FM radio named Flash. Rusty took pride in his long history of delivering news and music, while Flash was confident in his crystal-clear sound and trendy channels.
One day, they decided to have a friendly competition to see who could entertain their owner the best. Rusty boasted about his timeless charm and how he had been a reliable companion for decades. He played some golden oldies and classic talk shows, which brought a nostalgic smile to the owner’s face.
Not to be outdone, Flash switched to a popular music station, blasting the latest hits with perfect clarity. The owner started tapping their feet to the rhythm, clearly enjoying the modern vibe.
As the day went on, Rusty and Flash realized that they each had their own strengths. Rusty was great for moments of reflection and comfort, while Flash was perfect for energizing and keeping up with current trends. They both brought something special to the table, making their owner’s days brighter in different ways.
In the end, the competition turned into a celebration of their unique qualities. Rusty and Flash understood that they didn’t need to outdo each other but could instead complement each other, providing a richer listening experience together.
Happy ending 😅
Just my imagination 💭
performance in the village theater I think?
The only actions I remember are like pulling down levers and instruments?
While Moments guide somewhat implies that you can technically move around spirits? And that they can also move around on their own (I think only seasonal spirits? world spirit appears in aviary village (?))
I don't think they're related? Not by blood anyway, exept for Sah + Mekh ((the Valley Elders)) because they're twins /positive
They all come from the same source but they're not related :)))/positive
corrupted creatures
I LOVE THEM BOTH <3
but still i wonder what their relationship with each other is.. like are they friends with each other? and is there any instances other than the final elder memory and the vault
cause the final elder memory does reveal that they infact, can and do help each other
Tbh I think that's a bit open-ended
For me and my friend's lore we've got goin on there's a lot of familial bonds goin, but honestly I think u can just make it up as u go with the info u have!/positive
Whether or not they're just colleagues or friends or family is up to how u interpret it tbh/positive
Thats interesting :]
In my lore Valley of triumph is raising my skykid but i asked that question cause my skykid hangs out in hidden forest and particularly got attached to wind paths like their my skykids second family
and i wonder how it goes when the valley and hidden forest interacts since i always imagined them all to be friends with each other
Again I think just do whatever u think fits in your lore in ur head since solid Sky lore is pretty sparse, if that means the Valley and Forest Elders are friends then go for it!/positive
Imo valley and hidden forest would be on good terms because both have heavy use of darkstone 👍
And vault
Oooo now i didn't know that, i should rlly stop skipping cutscenes as much
they're way more related than i thought, i thought that my skykid just loves hidden forest without any reason other than it's cool
Any thoughts on why the Hopeful Steward looks so timid here? They don't normally look like that I think
I guess maybe they're just nervous at parties

Aww as a person who's also scared in crowded places and parties this is adorable

i love when the ancients / spirits have unique personalities and quirks
i also awwed when i saw the steward come in with his bashful self :3 they still had a great time!
i wonder, has anybody thought about why the sky kids' cores are blue instead of normal fire colour? i'm not sure myself but i like that it's a bit more magical
i just realized, these crabs aren't hostile! they haven't been corrupted by the darkness :> i was confused before that they had hearts over their head and still turned them over lol, now i feel bad kinda
I don't know myself? i imagine it as being ""regular / non ascended"" since regular spirits are usually blue, and when you use ascended candles on them they become yellow like actual fire
oooh, do you think sky kids could become ascended too?
or perhaps in a non lore way it's just to contrast with the rest of the environments like how candles are red / add to the fantasy of sky
I mean i think so via eden 😭 iirc we do emit a yellowish golden glow when we infact ""ascend"" / sacrifice ourselves in orbit
we do? oh- i missed that detail oops, everything just looked white to me
the glow ig is a very light yellowish so most people mistook it for white dw
the glow of the skykids is very very light yellow unlike the stars around them
ooh that's really close, even with my sunglasses off [my glasses broke]
omg glasses user yooo
but yeah i imagine their core is blue cause that means non ascended though idk if thats the case
unrelated but i wish there was a channel for skykid lore and au lore cause Honestly I'm just realizing how fun it is to actually study the game instead of goofing around with friends and donating literally everything to spirits and ancients

On a similar note, has anyone else noticed the subtle blue glow when we flap our wing? Could that have a similar meaning? Or an allusion to blue's association with darkness since we give up some light to flap our wings which makes us more vulnerable to being extinguished
lmao
when you say skykid lore do you mean how they came to be? and the au lore- there's alternate universes in canon? or is that not how that works
Yeah and their relationship with the other spirits and elders
idk i feel like this channel is more for the actual game and not our ocs 😭
and au lore is yeah alternate universes
i think it'd be cool to think about what sky kids have community ties with which spirits :D idk if this channel is for that either but i don't think it'd hurt to try chatting about it
i didn't really notice the blue tinge until now, i think it's simply the sky clinging to our wings, but that sacrificing light explanation is also nice and sound imo
Hello! I want everyone's support! I'll be making a story where it is Related to Sky Children Of The Light, Regarding it's theories and it's seasons, I'll be posting it on Wattpad! I'll publish it at the end of July! I do hope you all can support me<3
Please follow me on Wattpad! https://www.wattpad.com/user/DeanEsraLuxeous?
This Story will have some different approach though! It'll start of where everything begins and how it becomes the sky it is now! I have been having many connections and thoughts about this theory!
Ooh i don't have wattpad but I'll check it out later :3
Anyways I'm interested in hearing yalls ocs relationship with the spirits and elders please drop skykid oc lore
Don't worry no Rush at all! I'm making minor changes on how to deliver the story so it might take a while for me to publish it as well:>
She's the MC:>
OOH SHES VV PRETTY YOU'RE RLLY GOOD AT ART!! :3
????? WHAT IS WRONG W THIS FILTER. HOLD ON.
Do you mind posting it on archive of our own as well? 👉👈
I’m so sorry for the ghost pings filter kept tagging me for saying knock twice ? I think? Lemme check
Thank you!>< But it's not clearly my own hand in drawn it's my wife's art I'm the one holding the ideas of the characters and sceneries and the writing!
ALSO UNRELATED BUT DUE TO FANART I HAVE A NEW HEADCANNON
Nesting Guide is raising hopeful steward and is in a sibling / parent and kid relationship? idk
Honestly i love Nesting Guide so much they're literally one of the Few Guides (Also the Season of Dreams, Theatre and Flight Guides) i genuinely love and cherish and will do anything for

Man you both make such a good duo i can't wait 🫶🫶🫶
I wish i can tell you all my theory:< But it'll be performed as a story in Wattpad
My Theory is about the Beginning of Sky Being Light As the MC she's a woman irl but after exploring and finding a portal to sky Her Gender Is Fluid, Since Cutting Hair Is Not Really A bright idea in sky Her hair began to be long. This story also describes the Pure places of Eden and other realms, also connecting with the Prince and King Of Eden The Ruler and Heir
And the second theory is how the Disaster began in sky, and how the monsters krills and any dark creatures were created
And I'll also Make the Life Theory Of The Prince Of Eden too!
Omggg i believe that the mc is usually genderless in sky but this is good I'm still interested ♡♡♡ keep going!!!
YES THAT'S WHAT I MEAN BY GENDERFLUID SHE GENDERLESS HAHAHA SORRY😭
Oooh I SEE I SEE I GOT CONFUSED
my skykid oc is Genderfluid and uses any pronouns however i mostly refer to them as they however sometimes say she or he accidentally LMA
Man i love hearing other peoples theories and i love infodumping my oc here
feels so nicee :3
Alright! We are back from a little getting
, filter flagged something random. Anyhoo. Are you planning on posting this fanfic on ao3 as well? I don’t use Wattpad anymore, but I’d still love love love to read it!
If there's any platform i can post on! Then suggest me some! I'd really love to share my story/theory !
if/when you post it. Please cross post to ao3. Trust me the sky:cotl community is starving over here
Is that an App?
same energy (it kinda has same shape imo, especially when you see on the pillow the same square than on the golden thing)
This is in lots of seasonal quests, I think the first one is Little Prince
If they're like ghosts, than it makes sense that they can move around in the world.
Angst
This is the channel for it
YAYYY :D
ANYWAYS TEXT WALL INCOMING :33
My skykids relationship with like every realm (spirits and elders)
Isle of Dawn - I imagine that Aciano would love Isle of dawn in like a best pals way, like Aciano sees them as friends and even gets reminded of his own family, they even enjoy the trials and season of passage, and they would feel connected with the spirits and elders in a friendship way
Daylight Prairie - Don't ask me why but Aciano has mixed opinions on it despite it being peaceful, and it definitely came from days lf nature where the water was filled to the brim with trash, darkness and literally has a krill, Aciano would like this realm better if the spirits, elders and everything else didn't seem intimidating to them
Hidden Forest - Literally Aciano's 2nd home, Wind paths is like their 2nd family because Wind paths loves to babysit and raise them when Valley of Triumph has smth going on (like a concert / event) and everyone is too busy, + Wind paths knows the entirety of Aciano down to their secrets and completely understands and accepts them
enough about wind paths, Aciano is best friends with the treehouse kids, and hangs out with them and impresses them with their piano / kalimba skills, they def want to start a band with them someday
And hidden forest grandma is like a second grandma to Aciano, sometimes they would feed aciano when nobody can
Valley of Triumph - Aciano has unending love for their family here!! however they're not sure if they love them back the same, unlike hidden forest Aciano hasn't told them anything about them cause they're scared that they'll hate them ||Lore is too dark||, however Aciano still bonds with them since they're literally family
Golden wasteland - Man, aciano wants to help them and fend them off the darkness and krill issue, however, it reminds them too much of their trauma, but is starting with slow steps, and already is friends with treasure reef and forgotten ark (who sometimes tests spells on aciano)
(Continuation due to text limit)
Vault of Knowledge - Somehow this area Scares aciano more than golden wasteland, something from the books to the ""peculiar"" way the spirits look and act sends shivers down their spine, however they're best buddies with the 9 colored deer and little prince!! (who actively tells you that the vault elder and spirits wont krill his head off)(despite that he doesn't believe it LMA)
We do NOT talk their relationship with eden.
ik i spammed this image multiple times but i love so ye
Honestly interested in hearing yalls skykid relationships with spirits and elders again since I'm bored and interested
Wouldn’t that fall more under promote your content?
I’m not sure
But I see some people putting their lore for their characters here so I think that this is the right place
No i don't think so sorry. Try the fanart maybe
Alright I got it.
What is this might i ask? Im confused
does anyone have that image of skys timeline?
tbh, I don't like it that much
@slender granite
Wow thats really fascinating
The lines of the first one kinda seems similar to Sky yeah probably inspiration
It is weird that they have the columns outside unlike Egypt interesting
It's a amazigh touch in the architecture of the pyramids
Agreed totally different kind
Tifinagh right next to a drawing
Oh wow it is pretty an old language alphabet and the animal painting so similar to Sky
Similar to what you see in the archives in vault
that's so cool, do you have an idea of what the inscriptions on the stone mean? (not the drawing the language 😭)
ⵔⵜⴻⵡⵙⵈⵜⴾ
It's tamazight but I don't read tifinagh
ssssort of? if you don't have an ao3 account, you should get one asap, as they iirc manually add pepole. so worth it tho dw. ao3 is like wattpad but better in that it's sorted by tags, and can actually be customised. it has html and css coding. it's awesome.
Where do you guys find sky lore
Here's a document I found that's good for it
Hello to you too
I noticed this when I was reliving the Slouching Soldier with my brother
So the Slouching Solider is seen not being able to keep up with his friends/companions (Saluting Captain, Backflipping Champion, Fainting Warrior) and then a parental spirit with two scared kids.
But one thing I noticed interesting was that this parental sprit had a lock of hair with blue clip. Who else has this hairstyle? The Praying Acolyte.
Now an acolyte is someone who helps in a group, usually by doing minor duties. But it can also be used to describe a follower.
It’s possible that the Praying Acolyte could have joined following the Vault Elder after the Slouching Solider, or they were already helping the Vault Elder and just committed to that when the Slouching Soldier started drinking the dark water.
Here’s some more things I want to note of
- one of the children the Praying Acolyte are looking after also has a very familiar hairstyle. That’s because I think it’s the Confident Sightseer when they were young! Now, I don’t think the other child is the same one in the Sightseer’s memories, but it was interesting to me. When we relive the Sightseer, they’re obviously a lot more grown up and, well, confident. so we get to see a bit of their story: their parents (at least, parental figures) were the Praying Acolyte and the Slouching Soldier, but then the latter became distant because of their dark water drinking. Sometime later, the Sightseer is grown up and helping another child- whether it’s their sibling or just a child they chose to help, we’re not sure.
- at the start of the Slouching Soldier’s memory we see the three other spirits who could be his companions. It’s possible they were in the same army. While the Backflipping Champion and the Saluting Captain are talking to each other, the Fainting Warrior’s attention is drawn to the Slouching Soldier. While yes, the Soldieris stumbling, he’s not actually reaching for the group; rather it’s the candles that have his attention. Spirits and Sky kids alike use candles as currency, so it’s possible the soldier reaching for the candles symbolizes him reaching for wealth. This is further supported when the soldier is later seen reaching for the star lanterns, which the Star Collector was using to get rich as per his plan.
unfortunately i dont have a clip of it since my clip recorder doesnt work on sky anymore, but i saw this light fall out of the sky near the eden door and then disappear after a bit. do any of yall know what it is?
Since I've seen that flash of light happen when Skykids teleport home or into realms, I think that it's probably a Skykid's teleport-light. Of course, this particular one is defo bugged.
What if the lady and the two kids are his family?
(It’s a very common trope to have a father soldier come back from war traumatized and distant from their family, drinking and stuff)
And it has been confirmed in lore that spirits have parents (TGC said teabrewer was taught by their parents)
It probably might’ve been.
We don’t know what war they may have fought in- maybe it was the war with season of remembrance/a previous one?
Found this from the wiki
Once again, the Soldier flounders towards a scene at the top of the largest hill. At the top, a parental Spirit stands with two scared Spirit children, one in each arm. The Soldier carries another jar.
So not only that might have been his family, but the kids were scared of him from his drinking habits
…
Though this also raises the question: how does he obtain this dark water in the first place? it doesn’t seem like the spirits would just be selling this openly. My thoughts go to the polluted water we see in GW, but that stuff is… not good, to say the least. They’re dumping that stuff out; why would they try consuming it?
However, we do see them in jars… so maybe he stores them for himself to use
Yeah, it definitely seems unhealthy…
Dark water matches oil spills in real life, where it leaves a rainbow trail (when a Sky kid walks in it)
Water can be very easily tainted, in the season of the little deer, the merchant pours something out of a jar and it makes the whole lake dark water
To match the Little Prince’s drunkard, I don’t think they had alcohol so they used dark water
I went back and watched the slouching soldier’s memories
-He’s running towards the other warriors, who seem to be in discussion about him. (One of them is looking at him). Maybe they’re displeased with his behavior?
-He drinks to cope… a lot
-He runs towards those star lamps that the businessman spirit had. Maybe he made bad choices with his money
-He drinks more
-He returns to his family, who look scared of him. This drinking has gotten out of hand
-He drinks more
Might be the aurora war now that I think about it
Mmhm
The saluting Captain and fainting warrior both have a diamond on their armor, so they fought in favor of the dark stone technology
…come to think of it, do we ever see spirits with the sun symbol?
Wait we do… with the wounded warrior.
But that’s all I can remember.
That’s the king symbol actually, and his friend has a sun shield
Which makes me realize we’ve had a misconception all along
The sun side is the king’s side
Proof:
-Wounded warrior has the king symbol, his friend has the sun shield
-We see sun shields facing outwards from golden wasteland, meaning they’re protecting Eden
-We find sun shields on display in Eden (if you’ve ever been in castles, they will display their shields and weapons on walls)
Oh…!
So there’s the king side/sun side, but what about the diamonds? I always thought the diamonds represented those who supported darkstone since the diamonds were the shape dark stone was used to power machinery

I dunno.. it’s pretty tough
All I could find is that they face towards Eden (from wasteland), meaning attacking them
Maybe the shield symbols could mean what they think of the kings rule? The sun symbol means that they believe the king is doing good and is not harming the world for no reason. Then the dark stone shield means that they believe the king should be stopped and is harming the world with dark stone. The symbols could also represent the opinions of what people think the Eden crystal is. The sun side believes it’s a symbol of life and will protect them all, but the dark stone side believes that it’s a dark stone that’s taking all the light/ will take all the light from everyone because of how unstable it’s getting. This is just my thought process for this but think whatever you guys want
Oooh, that’s also a good theory
(A little off topic of the shields but: do you guys mind if I share my sky kid OCs? It’s just that there’s a lot and I don’t want to take up a lot of the channel
)
Please do! I love reading about skykid OCs!
okay…. Inhales
Here’s a list of all my Skykid OCs. The top left corner is the youngest (Natali) and the bottom right corner is the oldest (Peony). I’ve posted a couple of memes featuring them, so I’ve put their names in their usual colors. Each of them (mostly) have different calls, too.
Natali, Brianna, and Shayda are siblings and have a Nest in Aviary Village they share with Taliyah, their cousin.
Nellie and Nathaniel, as seen by their text colors, are also siblings. They have a separate Nest, but I don’t time to make theirs 😔
Cally and Princess Peony live in Prairie Peaks and The Kingdom in the season of the Nine-Colored Deer.
And finally Sofi, who was adopted by the Nesting Guide.
(I promise I’ll have more sky kids that are boys I just need the cosmetics )
As seen, Natali, Sofi, and Nellie are the three youngest of the group. Natali and Nellie are bffs and get into all sorts of crazy shenanigans while Sofi usually hang around Nesting Guide and doesn’t get into the shenanigans they do (and fears for their safety because they constantly go tease krills). Nellie also happens to be banned from the Nesting Shop because she set off fireworks in it. Nathaniel usually helps get Nellie out of ridiculous situations, but sometimes he just ends up joining them
Brianna, Taliyah, and Cally are another set of friends. They’re the most helpful when helping spirits and cleaning up the river in Prairie Peaks (Cally does not like the pollution or the dark creature there)
Finally, Shayda and Princess Peony both sort of wander around the Sky Realm except for GW and Eden. While Peony does have a ‘home’ in the Crescent Oasis, she likes hanging out with Shayda. They’re the quietest, but Shayda is more shy while Peony just waits until the right time to speak. All in all, they’re sorta their own family for each other, but they do interact with other spirits/seasons (which I’ll list in the next message)
Natali helped the Remembrance Guide and the Remembrance Spirits with Brianna. While Brianna did most of the reliving trauma memories, Natali helped build the Shared Spaces for them, especially for the Pleading Child. To this day, she still has the manta plushie (and when I unlock it, Nellie will have the crab plushie and Natali would have given it to her)
Taliyah was friends with the Little Prince. When he had to leave, this caused a change in her normal, easygoing, causal attitude, and she became a lot more reflective (and sad when she thinks no one’s looking). Taliyah loves sunsets and roses, and if I could bought it, she would have either the fox plushie or the rose music box.
Shayda was friends with the Deer, and was understandably distraught when it was hurt. it was Princess Peony who helped Shayda get inside the castle while avoiding the Krills. Peony was like a sister to the Princess spirit, but didn’t agree with the decision to capture the Deer.
The nesting guide found Sofi like how the Ushering Stargazer found the child in their memory: Sofi just. Fell from the sky and happened to land nearby the Nesting Guide. So they took her in as their own and now she’s helping the guide out with making furniture :DD
As for Cally, Nate, and Nathaniel? I haven’t made a concrete backstory for them. They’re sorta just there for now.

All of this is very in depth! Thank you for sharing!
Awww ty!
There was another one I had in concept, but I didn’t really have a name for them (and I needed the hearts for their hair and wings)
I’m also planning on having sofi wear the isle elder’s mask once I have the AC for it. As for how she got it lorewise? She probably asked for it politely or something lol
I have finally gotten around to doing a lore video, this one about the King, it may not be everything, and is my theories, but it's a start
I tried to incorporate all of the parts from their fall with the spirits in Dawn, some stories from Performance which seems to relate to them and their star. The trials, and murals in Vault and Eden related directly to them.
I missed off the wasteland statues and possible void appearance, because it was already getting quite dense with info
I wondered this myself! If the giant child is important, but it was quickly dismissed in lore chat as a glitch (which I found fair)
Including the performance story in the lore was clever!
Tbh it is a glitch really, but it felt like a nice jumping off point for talking about the king
Love the idea of the kids being on the same path as the king, though this time, not corrupted by greed
So I've been watching the teasers and trailers again, basically frame by frame lol. I've noticed a couple things (well, lots of things, but a couple really big ones that I haven't seen mentioned elsewhere yet). First, and this might be an obvious one, we seem to have a glimpse at what the Battlefield area used to look like before the king's rule
And then secondly, and this will be the last thing I add for now, we also see a weird similarity between the gear that grown manatees wear for caravan travels and the spotlight that krill have. I'm definitely starting to think that the krill were armed with this gear and maybe they didn't know how devastating it would be
anyone knwo the lore behind this?
These were put during days of love. Devs might've forgotten to remove them
sky rome is real....
Eh i dont think theres any lore significance. Because its from a yearly event and because its in starlight dessert. 🙂
How do u know? Beta spoiler?
where in the starlight desert is this?
May I ask for any Elder experts to info dump on me on literally any and all information relating to the Elders? Trying to work on a lil project of mine and am scrambling for needed information for them
Probably refering to the coliseum in valley where ancestor did races and performances eoughly like the history of Rome and their coliseum events.
As well as their neighbours in Greece where olympic events took places in their coliseums.
If I am not mistaken, this was in the jellyfish area where you find the star collector (accountant) spirit with their boat and geyser.
It would be somewhere in the water on the small island.
Ah. I saw the video and tried replicating the bug when I went to eden.
I sadly could not get it to work (though it is possible I missed a step somewhere lol).
What does happen on occasion is a figure appearing on the constellation stone.
I suspect it is a bug where the game tries to summon a character in the game. Because an ancestor spirit appeared there without me summoning them.
You need to go offline after collecting light from the spirits, before you enter "The Light" (where you wave to the statues you saved).
Ive been told it only happens when you first do Eden each week, so I didn't see it the first time as I had already done eden that week since Sunday's reset.
The figure is awfully familiar ti the an old Light Awaits encounter in Dawn.
Where you get your first winged light from a white skykids wearing a cape who gifts their light to your darkened skykid.
I have. But will try again after the reset.
I go offline as I fly towads the light. So the orbit loads jn while offline.I
But will try it as the area loads in.
Mind you.
You dont need the elders summoned (I think).
I am not quite sure how this figure is triggered.
Whether it depends on how many statues you save. Or if you in fact need to summon the elders there.
No I did it before the white out transition.
Did you walk past the starry shinybois and trigger the constellation stone cutscene, as they only appeared after that for me
Yeah I've had different characters appear there, I assume that's a glitch of other things loading in too.
Not sure.
I'll do that next time I check it out.
It is very interesting and loved watching the video you shared.
Thank you, I've been meaning to start doing some lore oriented videos for a while now, maybe I just need to do like this and take them as smaller chunks rather what I was planning on having a lore breakdown of each realm.
Also.
I noticed the devs added the eden gate to the elder cutscenes.
And the one for vault is under the OOB cube lol.
The one in valley though is sadly stuck behind a wind barrier.
I find it interesting how the segments for the elders slowly lught up.
Including the ones for dawn and vault.
Which begs the interesting question whether the dawna nd vault elders are technically part of the eden gate, or not.
Seeing how their masks are not included, but still lights up part of the gate.
Maybe a video that goes over a chunk of the lore. Almost like an episode for every few lore tidbits. And the realms are chapters or series.
Isn't Vault's mask the top of the Eden door?
I know that the line that opens when the cutscene plays, and Dawn has the lower line of the 6.
Kinda hard to see in my screenshots
#lore-discussion-spoilers message
But yeah, I'd say going clockwise from left
Prairie, Forest, Vault (though no acolyte headdress), Wasteland, Valley
Ah. I was wrong.
Vault is on there. my bad.
But Dawn's isn't. And yes.
the line leading up to the middle circle lights up for Dawn.
Symbolising the elder is connected to the other realms.
Which makes for an nice contrast to Eden being the realm that is sealed off from the others.
I've been looking into the king statues/turrets last night and today - I found one of the coolest pics yet
I'm sure this has been seen before, it's part of 7 Days of Sky. The coolest parts for me are a) all of the statues seem to have guns, not just the ones on the Temple like how they currently are, implying they open up and the guns come out, b) the one on the front top right of the roof looks like it's rotating, and c) they seem to glow faintly blue from the inside (not sure if it translates in the quality of the pic here but you'll see it if you look it up), so to me, that indicates it's probably darkstone tech
My screenshots for reference
Also wanted to include these, the first is also from 7 Days of Sky, and the second one is Tom Zhao early concept art
the art books are coming
is everybody excited for all the yummy lore?
Only the Wasteland Elder's shield
This isn't right, since Golden Wasteland Elder has the sun shield
This document has some stuff on it:https://docs.google.com/document/d/12XSkaMV_5UYG-an_Qo37ItyKP6GaqBBA6iRqBVE2qck/edit#heading=h.cmfnuox3fw3h
Here are the important events in the war, in my order
-Teamaker hides from soldiers
-Pleading Child's parent gets taken
-Veteran's kid gets drafted and killed
-Wounded Warrior fights with their friends
-Seed of Hope acts as a medic
-Teal lights fall on both sides, while they fight for the Wasteland Temple
-Sun side captures Eden
-Elders try to stop Void of Shattering, but fail, the war is over and nobody won
It could also be possible that the symbols got so distorted that it doesn't matter anymore, and they're just fighting because they want to
From the movie Civil War: Someone's trying to kill us, we're trying to kill them.
Yes, but what does that disprove?
In all the concept lore and stuff, it never mentions wasteland elder turning against the king, he always worked for him
Doesn’t it prove further he was a loyal soldier of the king?
Not just the concept lore, but in the shattering elder memory, the wasteland elder is trying to stop the eden diamond
He was loyal to the king, and when the Eden diamond tried to explode, he tried to stop it with the others
It doesn’t mean he turned against the king, it just means he was trying to stop a catastrophe that would damage the kingdom
We will see with Two Embers
But my guess is wasteland elder against the king, it seems like valley is also playing a part in the war
Valley has a bunch of darkstone contraptions, so they'd be more likely to be pro darkstone
Wasteland would be polluted with all the industry, so they'd be more likely to be anti darkstone
In the main parts Wasteland, there's only three functioning piece of darkstone (two in shipwreck, one for the temple entrance)
Meanwhile, Valley uses darkstone for silly stuff like guitars and ski lifts
YEAHHHHHH
I have discussed before whether or not spirits can fly like sky kids do. And now I know for certain that they indeed can, or at least some of them.
Some spirits have capes and some don't. And occasionally you can find the star on it charged or uncharged (as dot).
Some have told me that the stars on Grandma in HF are a bug. But I'm pretty sure some other spirit does have it. in Village of Dreams mission there are plenty of other spirits with unique capes.
I think the flight races in the valley backs it up.
However there are potential holes in the theory. That being the mantas shown in a memory. Which shows some ancestors spirits riding mantas and flying around in that area before the flight race.
In addition, the placement of the building in the area before the flight race seems odd. There are stairs but it seems some have broken down, not sure what that place once was, but it seems related to the flight aspect.
A bunch of spirits/ancestors are shown explicitly not being able to fly. The dreams skater falls off the ledge and has to be caught by hermit.
The captain in Abyss has to climb a tower by hand.
The valley is shown to use mantas for sports, like with the manta riser in the citadel, which was likely the case for the flying race. It's also shown to use flying boats for transportation, which has likely been used for accessing some or the flying buildings.
Ancestors in Isle (Aurora memory) and wind paths are also shown to use flying boats to get around.
They can’t fly but they can definitely jump good
During the flight race I think we do see mantas flying around assisting in recharging (at least for the sky kids)
Does it completely close the possibilities that spirits could fly?
If so, then it will likely be related to the concept art on the background lore, when the Megabird sends us (sky kids) to reconnect everything with light?
Asking this because I was writing lore for OCs teehee
The stars on the capes are a bug, it's so old and hidden that I don't think TGC will ever find it
my headcanon at least, is that all the stars are burnt out/uncharged because the spirit are sort of "dead"
[I don't really know how to describe it in other words, english not my first language]
Even when they were alive, they couldn't be able to fly
I see I see, now that is cleared up
I wonder how different we (sky kids) are to the spirits?
Why the spirits remains trapped in once place?
And can a sky kid end up like the spirits?
Thank you!
any help is appreciated
I think the spirits are trapped in the darkness shell
For the last question, look at Hopeful Steward
I think that is a yes?
(I have not finished the last mission)
I want to propose a question. New players start with 15 stars and lose all of them at the start of the game now. Dying post eden only gives 7 back so I’m wondering if there’s any significance to that.
So how do couches, mannequins, roses, and other objects counting as spirit givers fit into the lore? Are they embedded with some kind of soul?
nice document to make some sense of the lore, I like to headcannon that the mountain power plant went overdrive chernobil style and we are the liquidators trying to deactivate it, krills just mutated dragons due to radiation
HEY! does anybody here have any headcanons for what kind of crystal the red shards from eden could reasonably be?
based on the cleavage and see through properties im thinking it could be some kind of quartz?
orrr, my personal headcanon, it could be painite! a gemstone with an irregular structure, a brittle tenacity, and see through properties
no knowledge of the red ones, but the dark ones look like obsidian
ooo true true.. and that fits the sort of volcanic vibe of it all!
thinking of Cinnabar
those are toxic I think? I forgor
ohhh.. very good idea
I think the rose is a sentient being, but the couches and mannequins are just inanimate displays
It's probably Darkstone, the material used to power up doors and other things, corrupted beyond any saving
The red shards are fragmented pieces of the giant diamond in PNR
Does the season end before days of color

Noob question here
If Alef/Resh is the leader of the Dark stone side of the war, then who's the leader for the sun symbol side?
My best guess would maybe be Daleth if anything since he never seemed to agree with the use of darkstone
I think I remember seeing darkstone being used to open up Daleth’s temple, Though. (If daleth refers to the isle elder)
In fact, I think the Prairie Elder is the only one whose temple or realm doesn’t use darkstone at all (the darkstone crystals in prairie peaks don’t really count because they’re in raw form instead of the power diamonds we see)
…oh, wait, no
Power diamonds are used in Prairie, to open the doors in the villages and for the 8-player puzzle
But that’s the only time we see them in Prairie
There’s also the white crystal on the temple facade itself.
I believe it’s alef who is the leader of the light side
Probably the Wasteland Elder, darkstones are used very sparingly in the realm and only for basic purposes, and they literally have a sun shield in the cutscene
The Isle and Prairie elders aren't really fit to lead a war
Ohhh
So it was prince alef vs wasteland? And they were fighting over access to Eden?
Sorry besties I am just learning the story 🙏
What?
There's a war in Sky, the reason is unknown, but the aftereffects can be seen in the giant battlefield area in Wasteland
Prince Alef is just another name for the Eden Elder, a mysterious figure who disappeared long before the skykids come
I think it was more complex than that, but I think so
We know definitively that Wasteland Elder is fighting for the sun side, but we don't know about the diamond side, it could be a civil war as well
They were probably fighting over the problems and benefits of industrialization, sun side was worried about the pollution while the diamond side wanted progress
Oh I see
There's a sun shield in Eden, which means that the sun side and Wasteland Elder took over Eden. But it's so destroyed that there's no remains left
hi! has anyone shared the lore bits about the elders from the recent art book that came out? because if not… i can share the deets 👀
edit: if anyone is interested too, i can use the star feature it came with to let you see the meshes and 3D layout of certain areas if you’d like!
Wait, it’s already out? Where can I buy it?
And please go ahead!
off the official shop- thatskyshop! i don’t know if a second round of orders has happened yet but i picked up my book a few days ago at the signing event
edit: prepare for walls of text!
edit 2: hand typing these on mobile so i may take a bit,,,,
“Wisdom (Herald): The Elder of the Isle formally mentored the young Child after the prophecies came true. The Child later outgrew the Elder’s teachings. As the guide of the migration, the Elder felt guilty and bound to the duty of guiding new souls into their path. Inspecting the flame, the Elder recognizes the Child reborn.” (p. 174)
“Empathy (Threshold Guardian): The Elder of the Prairie inspired a community to help each other and grow a sustainable harvest and natural ecosystem. Migration flocked through the tranquil islands. Families and wildlife thrived together through the seasons. Uncertain about the unexplained darkness lurking, the Elder began to overstore light energy in jars, which they hoarded to keep safe for the community.” (p. 175)
(Thank you brave soldier for spending so much money!)
(,,,it’s not letting me send the things,,,,???)
How about you type on a word document and screenshot?
oh maybe!!! i thought this channel didn’t allow photos tho?
It does! Just not links to photos
I wonder what the isle elder one means, did the king become reborn as Sky children? Was that theory right all along?
Recap of my theory:
-The vault memory shows the Eden constellation crown, which was the exact same as the friend crown before it was updated
-The elders all bow to you before it tilted up to the crown
-The kids can all complete the trials just like the king
-The king was a child of light himself, he had a chest light and fell from the sky
-The devs confirmed the king is no longer there to be rescued
-The kids star symbol in their capes matches the king’s symbol
So he was sucking light from the stars in the Eden diamond mural!
I knew it! The wasteland elder was loyal to the king!
So it was civilian protests who were the diamond side
Recap:
The sun side is the king’s side
-Wounded warrior has the king symbol, his friend has the sun shield
-We see sun shields facing outwards from golden wasteland, meaning they’re protecting Eden
-We find sun shields on display in Eden (if you’ve ever been in castles, they will display their shields and weapons on walls)
Newly added info:
-The diamond side is the protesting civilians
-Keep in mind we see diamond symbols on tons of spirits, so it just represents their civilization in general
-Wasteland elder was in fact loyal to the king with his sun shield
aaaand done! that’s all the elder bits! and i also just found out today that there’s supposed to be an official animated series that looks at the kingdom of sky before/during(?) the war that’s supposed to come out this year???
Yup yup!
It’s gonna focus on the king in the past,
And then a child in the future
If the kids are the king though, does it mean he’s atoning for his sins in a new life?
When all the elders bow to you, is it like a “welcome back, your highness” before it pans up to the crown?
and to highlight your theory about the king being reborn as a sky kid- that’s honestly what i started to think reading the book and— THATS HONESTLY EXACTLY WHAT I STARTED THINKING TOO! that all the sky kids are acting out the part of the king atoning for his sins- especially since the concept art of the king literally has him the same height as a sky kid! (they included that concert in the book so it’s def official artwork!!)
That is incredible!! But sad we can’t save him..
Unless, that kind of happens when we hug the light child at the end?
We die, retreat into ourselves, see our past life feeling guilty and comfort them with the fact we did our best and atoned
Note if you die outside of Eden, you go to the black void but you don’t see the light child, just a winged light to grab
maybe! that’d def be a poetic tie to it!
Maybe he doesn’t appear outside of Eden because we didn’t do anything self sacrificing so there’s nothing to comfort himself over
But he feels better when we do sacrifice, and embraced his new form and absorbed into the new life, something like that
Screenshot of my old message comparing the Eden crown constellation to the old crown friend constellation
They changed it in a later update, idk why
Please pay attention to the number of stars and their position
3 along the bottom, 2 on the right spike, 2 along the groove, then two for the tallest middle spike, 2 along the next groove, 2 for the left spike
If there’s anything about the king, please let us know!
(Gahh, bad bot deleting your messages!)
will read more!!! lots of mentions in the concept works of forced harnessing (HFF IT DOESNT LIKE THE REAL WORD) of light/souls/creatures being what led to the creation of darkness that spread to the other realms and the conflicts it caused
I would’ve bought the book but that price is outrageous.. I’ll wait till a non deluxe edition
honestly, i did a pay in four option to break up the payments so it wasn’t too hefty of a price
but i wanted to share what i’ve found so far because idk if others have gotten their books just yet!
Thank you, you’re so kind!
Oh yeah! If it also mentions anything about how exactly the dark monsters were created, like krills, etc, feel free to add!
currently on a break down of the hidden forest as a whole: to summarize, it was created to give the air of originally being built to honor the light that then fell into essentially becoming a lumberyard that focused almost exclusively on industrialization with the temple being turned into a factory. the dark water and “acid rain” are the byproducts of pollution due to such
^just thought it was an interesting tidbit!
It is interesting!
HOLD UP! new note that then falls into valley that touches slightly on the king- leans more into the “skykids are lowkey the king???” type theory
“Having mined the light of its power and resources, the civilization crowned the young Ruler alongside the Elders.-“ there’s more in that passage but that’s what feels relevant
It really does feel like he grows up
(And in concept art he’s more giant than the elders, which is really cool to think Sky kids can grow massive)
also to mention: “…However, if you revisit the valley, there are clues of hubris and the darker mechanics of creatures wrangled for racing and coliseum entertainment.” which i just find interesting because i was rewatching the aurora concert and… yeah you do see them capturing those manta fr fr 😔
underneath darkened skies, there's a light kept alive
Yup… they must have started attacking people after that in Seed of Hope
At first I thought they were innocent mantas caught in crossfire, but I realized they were flying towards the battle, not away from it
page 121 of the book does indeed show the Ruler proper interestingly enough- this is the first time i’ve seen him depicted on his own in the book and considering photos are allowed….
(Wait, wait, does taking pics of the book constitute piracy?)
Let’s not do that, is it a picture we’ve seen before?
oh good point!!! best to air on the side of caution then,,, i’m not too sure if it’s been shown before- i personally haven’t see it before now at the very least
What’s it look like? (In text)
it shows the ruler/king, a sky kid, and a large statue that towers over both figures that’s meant to represent the ruler in the golden wasteland
edit: oh ok sick!
glad that one’s been seen already!
yep! that’s the one in here! alr cool cool
hit another bit about the ruler- this time in relation to the eye of eden
“The grand fortress and machinery were built closest to the sky to mine the soul migration. Drawing from the soul cycle so inhumanely was the Ruler’s final display of hubris.” (p. 132)
Ohhhh!
Wait, that’s horrific
He wasn’t draining from the stars…
He was straight up draining souls…
also a random note (mostly because i didn’t know-) is the final thing you see from orbit that looks like a… galaxy? is the “Megabird”?: “The Megabird is the collective unconscious of everything in the universe and its body is composed of bonds.”
Yep! We’ve known about this
So she’s still canon
reading bulk passages now- will report back soon if i find anything noteworthy!
The fact we can't save the sky king / prince ... 💔💔💔
hit a portion about the creatures of darkness: to summarize (since it doesn’t give an exact explanation-), they are the embodiment and physical existence of the lack of light in the work due to the ruler (and thus civilization-) harnessing/stealing it. that is also why the creatures hunger for light as a whole. the concept art of the page shows that at a time there was the idea of saving/freeing the creatures of darkness with the offering of light from a skykid
Sad we can’t save them anymore
possible ruler allusion on a concept map portion with story beats of the walk up to eden and eventual meeting of the storm:
“Storm Story Layout:
-Aging/Death - All is lost, Nadir(?), Atonement with the Father”
Oh yes! We’ve seen this image
Just to note, the “atonement with the father” is the name of a stage of Campbell’s Hero’s Journey
(A lot of other levels are labeled with stages of Campbell’s heroes journey, and the gameplay trailer for sky says you’re embarking on a “hero’s journey”
oooh gotcha gotcha! did it have the story beats labeled all the way up to the storm in the available image?
edit: noice!! i’ll move on then ^^)b
Yup!
Just realized wait a second, how are we the king reborn if he’s still over there.. uh….
My mind blank…
Oh well, maybe in the final game we are
that’s about it for the quicker portions of the book without going too in depth with it- a nice very heartwarming touch is they included a portion dedicated to the art the community has made! 🥺💕
Thank you so much Snail!
the book also has a star feature too! it gives a line from the book and a dev look at the 3D spaces of the main realms and a small portion of the storm at specific points in the maps
So cool!!!
but yeah!! again- i’m happy to share what the book holds! i know we’ve been fiending for some kind of official word about the lore of the game’s world
We maybe aren’t the king reborn, so to speak.. We could all be new souls/children of light that are destined to follow his path to atone for the sins that he committed since he too was a child of light. There seems like there was mention of prophecy, perhaps it was foretold that we would come to bare the light and guide it through the darkness that the king created. At the end, we are still embracing the purest form of the king that was set free/forgiven by our journey. We’re reborn to cycle again and ensure that society rebuilds in harmony with nature. (Just as an alternative to explain ‘we’re the king but how is he still over there?’)
Ultimately really just about the same story, in the end. (Perhaps even as far as collecting the winged light is the equivalent of gathering the bits of his soul, so when we go to Eden we are sacrificing pieces of him to atone for his sins and save the souls of other kids?)
Actually, the prophecy was about the king himself, that’s why it depicts him collecting elements and giving them to people
It says that it came true and then isle Elder started mentoring him because of it
OH see, I read “The Child” as meaning us, not the King.
They probably had a prophecy that one day a child would beat all the trials and hand out elements, becoming king of a civilization
Now that I think about it, it’s probably why they sent all those kids into prophecy cave
They wondered which one was the child of prophecy
(To be fair, when I’m annoyed with my character’s sticky jumping, I always call them The Child.
)
Could also be the Wasteland Elder switched sides in the end. Could also be the "sun shields" took over the Wasteland Temple and Eden in the end (but it was too late by then)
But there’s no proof he did, nor does it say it anywhere in the concept art (or the recently released lore book for the matter)
It always wrote him as loyally protecting the king
But sounds like there's no proof to the contrary either... so it's all "up to interpretation"
Huh? But I.. but there is proof…
^
If he was too tired, he couldn’t have rebelled after that either
After multiple victories protecting the Ruler (the king/prince), he got tired and too weak to continue
Either way, to me it makes no sense for the diamond to be the symbol of rebellion and the Light to be the symbol of the king tbh
Actually the diamond is to symbolize the people, the civilians
You see every spirit having a diamond on their (collar? Idk what it’s called)
So what better to represent a civilian protest than with their symbol?
And thinking about it further, the Belonging symbol is 3 diamonds… which could just be showing like, a gathering of civilians, of people
Plus you see the Light symbol in other places like the Prairie docks and the Harmony Hall
Power diamonds are batteries that are charged by draining light creatures. I don't see how they represent civilians tbh. Unless the civilians came to see themselves as just batteries in the end
I think it’s just a game development thing, to show diamonds to mark both civilians and the technology they’re proud of (for players to associate the two)
“We made the diamond and we’re proud, so we’ll wear the sign of our civilization”
Diamond = ancestor (any ancestor in general) in that kind of design terms
But their civilization was what they would be rebelling against in the end. Why would they wear the logo of the factories they were destroying?
Good question, idk
They should’ve switched to a flame symbol or something
Further addition to the diamond shield (civilian protests), you never see them past Golden Wasteland, so the protection was successful
If the main thing that makes you think the sun shields are the king's side is that they are facing outwards from the Wasteland temple then again, they could also be facing outward because the rebels took over the temple in the end
That.. doesn’t make sense (because it doesn’t account for the diamond shields coming from the wrong side)
But I don’t want to debate further
The rebels did take down the king in the end so they would have had to be successful
Rip I'm wrong
This artbook may be just concept art, but I think it's true
I'm not sure, I think the king and the second child will be in the same time period
It's called Two Embers, and the trailers shows two little embers floating around together
Also, narrative wise, it would make sense for the two main characters to interact
Resize potions
Very interesting that they use Child and Ruler here, still adhering to genderless in the lore it seems
What we see right now is the aftermath of the final battle that took place. Initially the King's army (the diamonds) would have been defending the entrance to the Temple. But after the rebels (the sun) finally won they would have taken up defensive positions against any remaining loyalists that could have remained elsewhere. (Not trying to debate just trying to explain how it makes sense to me)
Initially the King's army would have presumably been trying to defend the Wasteland factory (where you meet the First Krill) but that place is trashed now so that means the rebels must have won that battle too
That would imply Wasteland Elder was a rebel...
No, it would just imply the Wasteland Elder (and the loyalists) eventually lost
Even outside the artbooks, we know Wasteland Elder wears the sun shield, it's displayed on the temple
Called it ages ago
You’re a genius!
where is it shown/said that isle elder adopted them? is it in the lore book? i haven't read it yet
^
Here
Just to clarify, mentored, not adopted
(Yeah this stuff came from the book)
"Inspecting the flame, the Elder recognizes the Child reborn"
Is that more or less a confirmation that the player is a reincarnation of the king?
Another thought: "the king" amassed a ton of power, coming from ground up souls of multitudes of creatures, and then shattered. Could it be that we all, collectively, are what remains? Like, not so much that every player is "the king in their own story" but each of us is a fragment
everything makes sense except capes. notice that every spirit with a cape also has a single diamond on top of it, just like a skykid with 1 wl
someone had a theory like this a few months ago
Maybe we're a fragment of the same soul then
search "fragments king" in this channel. it goes way back and lots of people have thought of it independently
From what I understand this has been brought up before and it sounds like it's a bug the devs would have preferred to fix but can't seem to
really? wild
Yep, bugs are pretty wild like that sometimes
how so?
I mean... i guess the other possibility is that the loyalists were successful defending the king to the end until the shattering happened on its own for unrelated reasons
do you think that the civilian side actually defeated the wasteland elder side and went on to attack eden and that is why eden is ruined rather than because of the shattering?
My hypothesis is that the story beat described in the concept art was cut from the game for complexity/gameplay reasons, but it did happen as part of the story of the world, just earlier. That would also explain all the bodies we're reviving in the Eye of Eden
i always thought the bodies in eden were sky kids. when we die there, we become a statue like them, don't we?
I mean my guess is it was less clear cut that than. Obviously if it was unarmed civilians against the king and an army that wouldn't have gone over well. But over time there were probably folks who defected from the army. It's possible some of the Elders took the other side in the conflict. One of the Aurora's songs shows magic being used as a weapon in that battle... there are also creature remains all over the Wasteland. And the Wasteland factory is destroyed so the rebel side must have been strong enough to win at least some of the battles
Right, but even when we start the game for the first time the narrator refers to us "coming back" so it's possible the skykids existed before, or even during the final stages of the conflict
it seems like they were stopped right at the temple, since we see that the wasteland temple remains intact
Considering The King was likely the original skykid, it's possible The Light "sent" more skykids as the situation grew so dire that even The Light itself was threatened
I mean... the current Wasteland "temple" is more or less just a door to the Vault. They would have more important things to worry about than destroying a huge stone building. The Wasteland factory (and likely the original Wasteland temple) was destroyed because of what it was doing to the ecosystem
Note that the Forest temple is intact, which may mean that the Forest Elder has shut it down voluntarily after noticing how it's affecting the forest
(Actually the current Wasteland temple and the Vault are part of the Holy Mountain so yea they wouldn't be destroying that for several reasons)
though we see in the concert version of seed that a battle did take place there, so chances are that it was stormed for some reason. looks like at least they tried. in repository refuge we also see a number of people who ran from the war
To be totally honest I'm not entirely sure why an army with air mounts would be storming the ground entrance (especially if the goal was to get a handful of skykids to the Eye) but...
Unless the battle was a distraction...
that is an interesting take. my best guess would be that they just tried to take over the kingdom and hoped to get to eden but were stopped in wasteland
I mean the "big argument" here is what the sun and the diamond represent. I think it makes little sense that the rebels would use what was essentially the logo of the Light processing facilities as a symbol of rebellion against said facilities. And "the sun" seems like more of a hand drawn organic shape that would make much more sense as a rebel symbol for The Light. But the sun shields on the battlefield are facing outwards so that's the point of contention
Either way, it's all "open to interpretation" so there probably will be no definitive proof one way or the other, at least until Two Embers comes out. It would be nice to know which was which but oh well
and the elder was the sun side, yes? oh dear
Well, the shield by the Elder's shrine has the sun. So either the Elder defected in the end, or the shield was placed there after the fact by someone else
Though there is also the part where all of the Elders were present during the Shattering, which complicates things somewhat. (Actually I seem to recall that one is missing but I don't remember which)
migh have been the other way around and the elder sided with the rebels, but then the whole ruined factory doesn't make much sense, though it would explain how civilians got to repository refuge. some of the more interesting theories were that the war was between wasteland and some other realm, or perhaps even between two sides with each consisting of several realms - which would be a step in the right direction if it wasn't for the lore book based on what i've seen in this chat so far
Well, the argument started over this excerpt. This would seem to indicate that the Wasteland Elder was loyal to the King (Ruler) until the end. But then that would mean the sun is the symbol of the Ruler side and the diamonds are somehow the symbol of the rebels
(The excerpt snail posted is from the Art of Sky book)
yeah. still doesn't make any sense, even less so than it did months ago. weird stuff
hold on - is the book new, or was it like concept art or sth?
Yep, I was kinda hoping at least the art book would bring some clarity but it seems like it's literally just art you can already find on the internet and it's adding more questions than answers
that sucks, esp that the old concept art isn't exactly representative of the current lore
The main thing that seems clear to me is that they didn't seem to have an actual writer per se. They seem to have expected the concept artist to do all the world building. Which... ideally you do want concept artists to be part of that but it's not really the main thing they do. Writing, especially creating a whole setting from scratch, with lore and all, involves lots of overthinking of every little detail and concept artists generally aren't really known for that
tbh Tom Zhao still did an amazing job at that, it's just that the final product differed greatly from his ideas so i sometimes wonder if sky lore even exists in all those areas where we can't get to a consensus. like do they actually have something in mind, or is this just content loosely based on the concept art but with no actual, coherent story?
I mean... it's not that I'm trying to trash talk Tom Zhao, the game is a gorgeous experience but like... I suspect there just may not have been quite as much thought put into the details we're drawing conclusions from and argue over. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the sun shields are facing that way just because at one point they had a concept that two sides were fighting and each had a symbol. It's possible they didn't really put much thought into what the symbols actually meant or how the war went until much later, and by that point they kinda just forgot about the shields and how they're facing
From what I've seen of the concept art, they seem to have been literally just taking what's drawn and trying to make a game from it. Except for where they had to scale it down for gameplay or workload reasons. Like, in the concept art the Prairie has three temples where we were supposed to solve puzzles and fight dragons. In the final version we just light some candles to make the bells ring. But mostly it seems like they kept to the concept art except for the scaling down part
not much to add here. if i were to create a system for analysing lore, one of its first tents would be that sometimes the lore is incoherent or doesn't exist due to the devs not looking into enough details
to think what sky could have been if the devs had instant infinite resources
I mean... yea... I can't say I blame them either. Apparently Journey took them years to build and almost bankrupted them despite Sony giving them several extensions. When you're trying to build something no one has done before (like an online game that doesn't revolve around combat) you can spend a lot of time making things just to find out they don't really work in the end, with not much to show for it
It would have been nice if they had an actual writer during preproduction but oh well
i have a question my weird fever brain thought of
is there a reason that sky kids wear masks?
Aside from distinctive visual design of the game, none that is explicitly known
Feels a bit like historians trying to reconstruct what happened long before they existed but some things are just lost over time
Another thought, the diamond is known to be the symbol of the Forest Elder. If it was indeed the rebel symbol, that would suggest the rebellion may have been led by them?
On a more cynical note, it's possible that the Elders tried to shut down the power diamond production due to its effects on the environment but the civilians rose up in protest, and made diamond their symbol because they wanted more diamonds
Like, I mean, seems silly and shortsighted but imagine the current government told you you can't have gasoline anymore because it's bad for the environment. Except you kinda need gasoline to go anywhere or do anything because everything was built on the assumption you'll always have access to it. So yea we'd have people up in arms over that
How tall is Eden king/Resh?
We don't know
Probably as tall as a regular skykid\
That's just a glitch, it's not canon
we do see a swallow at the entrance to the Citadel, which suggests skykids are about the same size as Thumbelina
(also "Resh" seems to have gotten bigger over time, but started out as a skykid as far as i understand)
Yeah what's up with that big dead snow bird??
Actually, thanks to this person’s calculations, we have approximate heights for the sky kids based on them in the office!
For fun I also used an online graph on kids ages and average heights, so the maximum age a sky kid is based on the tallest height is 6-8 years old
I had the same view until recently, that the sun = rebellion and diamond = king. Until I finally heard another theory that makes sense and explains the Wasteland having the sun and being loyal to the king - their chosen symbols portrayed the way they view the darkstone tech. The actual civilians at the time, especially those who liked and used darkstone regularly, wouldn't have called it darkstone. I forget where it's mentioned, but I've heard it's called both "power diamonds" and I think "false stars" or something similar to that. Hence why they would choose the sun symbol - it symbolizes light and prosperity, which is what the King's original intention would have been and how the propaganda would likely continue to portray him, even as he was being corrupted by the power
Meanwhile, the rebels would see the tech for what it is: darkstones. Hence the plain diamond symbols - it's not the light or prosperity promised, it's just a hunk of processed mineral.
Just wanted to add an alternative view, the conversation was interesting to read
According to a player who said it here before, in the early version of the game, you’d wake the bird and catch its spirit around the citadel in a similar way to the manta call guy (where you see multiple lights flying around)
But I remember skybot saying it’s dead now…
That's an interesting perspective. Still can't say I'm convinced, but honestly at this point I'm gonna say I'll wait for Two Embers to hopefully clear things up. Until then, it would be nice if TGC could confirm it one way or the other because it's unlikely we will come to an agreement otherwise, and it would be nice to know what those symbols mean. But they might not really know themselves so I don't expect them to come up with an answer
And even if they do clear it up I'd much rather prefer they put some actual thought into it this time, to make sure they don't have to retcon it later
Also according to the same post with the google doc heights of each elder:
Isle: 8’9 (hunched over)
Prairie: 15’5
Forest: 10’1
Valley: 6’5
Wasteland: 9’10
Vault: 5’2
Krill length: A whopping 69’8! And height is 6’2
Jesus... so how big is the Leviathan?!
I didn't expect the krill to be so big honestly
6'2" sounds pretty tame tbh, that's a height of a reasonably tall adult. The krill are huge compared to skykids but to be fair skykids are fairly tiny compared to actual humans. Max height skykid still barely reaches the door handle at the office
