also creature pictured in the smog here is same (maybe) as shown here- yall think resh had some sort of pet creature that also became corrupted, caught below the storm after the shattering, and became the leviathan in treasure reef??? idk if it works with timeline tho
here's somethin else i was just thinkin about, hanging out in this forest area - the paintings show tons of boats carrying these jars, and there are some broken ones lying around. At the end of prairie just before here, is this huge room FULL of similar pots just crammed full of butterflies -
My theory at the moment, is that they were bottling butterflies in prairie, then shipping them to the temple in forest, or past it.
one day, the darkstone flight suddenly stopped working, causing boats ( like the ark and those from season of abyss ) to crash suddenly, leaving their paths and homes to fall in the mud, with those broken pots around in forest having fallen off a boat which crashed.
Prairie is full of the jars, as people kept bottling them and bringing them there, even though they could not take them into forest anymore.
oh man, getting attacked by the king literally throwing the spears at you would be really wild
definitely they used butterflies to fuel darkstone production before the catching of mantas, imo, we see through murals people taking jars via boat to forest and i believe its the forest temple doors (iirc) that show when u open them how the light was used to forge darkstone
gonna fly back there really quick and take a look
i think this is a drawing of it, basically the bigger center diamond is made of 4 parts, which when u open doors, shows to be 2 parts light from the jars on boats and 2 parts stone mined from forest
oooh yeah you're right, its animated where the boats raise up to lift the darkstones in position, and the boats at the top with the butterfly jars glow and power them to open the door
awesome, i haven't seen that door animation in years it always syncs open for me lol
Are the spirits from Seasons of Aurora, the one in the enchanted forest considered a canon thing? Since that spirit seemingly hunts jellyfish at first but stops afterward
If so, why do they hunt the jellyfish for? Food? Or something else??
im not sure, though if the crystals they're grabbing are for darkstone, getting jellyfish for the light would be something else they want.
Noo, my jellyfish friend qwq
atleast it seems they made friends by the end, heh
something i thought was interesting was how the two spirits with them didnt go with them after the jellyfish
That's good xD though- do they hunt other creatures too? Like a whale or something
hmm, have you done the season of abyss quests yet?
Plot twist jellyfish ate them xD
I have! It was terrifying
in some of the murals there ( and the quest where you free some mantas in the tanks ) it atleast implies they captured some larger light creatures
also wasteland and vault both have massive skeletons in em, which certainly would be whale sized, so maybe they did
Where do I find the abyss quests?
Zamn.. Now I want an event where they explain most of the creatures' habitats or just a flashback of how they originated T-T
looks like what the mask of overachiever is based off of
enter wasteland and take a hard right, theres a nice little boat dock in the social starting area
Oh that thing, I thought it would be more upbeat
Looks like... Winter Season. It's a reindeer
oh i think you're probably very right
CUTEEEE
Ooh is it for the tickets?
might be some days of feast hints if reindeer is correct, heh
Or another Winter-based Season. We've had a few like that in the past...
...Or collab? 👀
A Rudolph collab??
I'm reporting back
Passed through the wind wall
I was near the building when the screen went white
Then I'm back to the falling cutscenes 😢
Oh, I remember that
I think someone did reach that in the past? Could be misremembering
That building was talked about a lot back in the days
I'm actually someome who has kinda "left" for a long time and just so happened to be passing by~
Come back to sky
@rocky grove

The beta has no new season things yet, but that image is definitely a clue about what this season will be
Well, I just played recently, I mean, "left" the lore chat as well for a long time, I used to dwell here a lot
...
Quickly opens beta if there's something new
Yeah, there doesn't seem to be anything new?
No one knows...
I mean, I have no ideer
That would be an interesting connection, although the Isle Elder raising Alef is not true in the current game. It's entirely possible they went from realm to realm, in search of new opportunities. That is what the show seems to be about: an adventure across all the realms, but in the past
Terrify moths again?? Haha
But then again, in a gameplay sense, turrets are just stationary krill.
very true yeah, imo krill r more interesting
remember to not mention beta things outside the beta, neither to prove nor disprove any points 🙏
Atonement with the father is actually a part of Lord Campbell's "Hero's Journey" guide. Many old stories have a similar scene in which a character meets an extremely powerful mentor figure and fights with them, but in they have to reconcile with each other in order for peace to occur.
I suppose in Sky's terms, the 'father' would be the Eden King, and the reconciliation would be the hugging scene, where the skykid hugs the original light of the King before corruption. But now, only the hugging scene is left.
aaah now im ashamed i didnt think of that im literally an english major lmaoooo
I hear you loud and clear sire
Many complain about the removal of the Eden King bossfight, but I think it is a good thing.
In the original version, there is only tragedy. The Eden Elder is corrupted beyond any point of return, and they appear, omnipresent, as a figure that everyone will remember.
But now, it is more subdied. Now, the Eden Elder's influence and legacy is still felt, but their physical form has been obliterated by their own creation. It's a much more fitting fate
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOo
what's up
it seems to match how previous seasons got teased:
#news message
#news message
that is all we actually know for now
YAY SO IT IS A NEW SEASON
Was the Earth always fragmented? Or did it became like that after the extinction?
ahh interesting, i didn't know they started revealing seasons like that, this seems pretty fast though revival is the only season i've played in since flight and abyss LOL do they usually start teasing like 60 days before season starts?
What do you mean by fragmeneted?
Can I talk about deleted oobs here? I found an oob video that was apparently from eden, but it was deleted shortly after in game
Approximately halfway through the season is how they've done it
Yep!
(I have no memory of this, what was it??
)
It was an oob of Resh model, it was supposed to throw the eden rocks at you. I can post a picture of it here maybe
sure, although it sounds like an urban legend of sort
Such a thing existed in the concept art of the game, but never in the game itself (to my knowledge)
Here it is
oh, that one 💀
I somewhat remember this, it was a leaked model of the Eden Elder, but it was extremely cursed
They wore the pendant from the Season of Rhythm
for some astounding reason
Yeah it was kind of odd that they were wearing that pendant
eden elder wants the juggler pants
I notice there are spirits in each realm that have a similar mask to the elders. Is there a reason for that?
RESH STANS SEASON OF RHYTHM
like the sorta helmet/faceplate attachments? i've noticed the ones in each realm seem to mostly stick to a similar theme to eachother, i wonder if its maybe similar to a symbol of their realm
My theory is that they were assistants/helpers to the Elders
Aww that's kinda cute
They also have a distinct mask shape: Isle is a boat, Prairie is a butterfly jar, Forest is a darkstone crystal, Valley is two halves of a whole, Wasteland is a whale bone, and Vault is a writing tablet
Ooh! That is interesting
oh i didn't make that connection, thats fun actually
Also! I notice the whale has this beak shape, does that mean their beak is similar to a birb?
And unrelated note, the skelly whale looks like a sleeping triceratops
I think people have kinda speculated that the light creatures like the manta can possibly grow to the size of a whale
So they evolve in a Digimon way..
Also, the one in Sanctuary Island is a whale too?
you can see in sanctuary, some rather larger mantas with 4 wings, but i dont think we see any larger than that around - though in abyss murals we see like, 6 winged mantas ( and the mega long leviathan with TONS of wings )
i think there's a whale over in sanctuary too, yeah
Evolutions!!
Abyss murals? 6 winged mantas- mega long leviathan??
this one 👁️
Ooh spikey
im thinkin it was all friendly wings, till well, you went down there
Ah! Now I remember
Haha..
Is it dead tho?? Did the krill king consume it like Twizzlers
either that or it became the massive krill
It looks similar to a krill but not the massive krill tho
But- I can see how it can become one if it is possible
pretty unclear how krills come to be, but we do see smaller ones sometimes, and there are different size variations on the world map art
my guess was that the longer they lived or the more they ate, the bigger they get
I hate Krill. Tho if im not mistaken Krill old design looks like some war machine right? xD
yeah i think people have posted it around a few times in here, but the threat in wasteland was going to be like some kind of big spotlight search towers that'd be scanning for you. krill are kinda just a mobile version of that so even more dangerous LOL
i love the big scary critters myself and i would hug one if i could
Hehe xD
They are cool but I still hate them- mainly because I need to recollect the wing of lights that is scatter around the map TwT
Oh and I have a potato phone- so it's hard to notice them cuz they already pouncing on me without me realizing
ahh rip, i play on PC now mostly because i have a really hard time seeing on mobile LOL
Mobile gets too bright and dark at the same time xD
Also, I don't think this fella skull got crushed during impact cuz this thing literally smacked a broken building
And also the crack on its skull looks like someone pierced on it
oh i never even realized before that it seems to depict a very large manta instead of the creature that's actually down there. makes me wonder if it got corrupted while it was being observed by the scholars here
Ooh! Maybe that's where Skrill originate from
corrupted by something, or had its light eaten by a krill, or something
Now you mention the bottom part of it looks like they sealed the Twizzler mantas
I personally had the Imagination that Krill ascended when the light went away. They could be creatures of light, but since there was no light they evolved. Idk tho
oh i never saw that concept art that is horrifying and absolutely amazing
I think that's more likely fanart? If this had been concept art then the krills wouldn't be a mystery
ahhh, it could be yeah
either way i love it and whoever drew it i love them
Oh wow, good point. Forgot about that part🤔
Ooh! That's a really good and I can see the similarities between them now (Whale and Krill)
I don't think this counts as evolution- since the darkness plant? I think the name was scattered around the body and seemingly "formed" the Krill tbh im not sure either xD
I like to imagine it like the fungus in the last of us but the whale is dead rather than alive
the manta looks kinda appetizing
anyway does anyone know why the isle elder gives you that little flame
FR???
Yes yes it's for real dude
does anyone know why the isle elder gives you that flame at the start of the game bc im writing a fic and i want it to be at least 83% accurate to the game
does it give the other elders energy? is it something they need?
hi! I wish to learn more about the Lore but dont want to spam with questions. Is there a website/video/document i can look at to learn all the lore from begining to end?
I thought we gave them the flame?
All the lore is a hard task, but you can start here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/12XSkaMV_5UYG-an_Qo37ItyKP6GaqBBA6iRqBVE2qck/edit
Thank you!
My krill candidate is the horned mantatee
•the eye is on the front of the head
•ridges on the neck
•longer slimmer body
•the story board had it with horns
•dangly fin paddle things that could have corroded into legs
•seems to be planned to play a big part in the show
waaaa but man I would really like to find another documentary like this one, did he make another one or not? If so, cite me the sources if it doesn't bother you, thank you! ;p
I (along with others) made it
The closest one is a mini-documentary, but it is in Spanish
WAAAAAH SRL IM SO HAPPY THANK U SO MUCH FOR THIS
Dw,i have a translate automatic yes so it's not à probleme for me dude
https://youtu.be/fXvtMOGdru4?si=OmfJrjtsEH-CL9HA
It covers a lot of the basic stuff, but for more recent/complex lore it is best to ask directly here
i still have trouble believing this because krill are just way smaller than whales (there’s nowhere ingame where both are in the same map so my source is: dude trust me)
I guess there’s the possibility they came from smaller, younger whales like the one in forest but all the active ones we see are always the same size.
Also generally to me, it seems like things get larger the more corrupted by darkness they are (shard crabs being much larger than uncorrupted crabs)
Dw,i have a translate automatic yes so it's not à probleme for me dude
Murals on the ark itself seem to depict the scenes of the colour lights beibg cteated and transported somewhere, although it appears that the ark crashed and the lights got strewn all over the kingdom
Jenova confirmed in one of the interviews that they're a corrupted creature, but we don't know which creature exactly. Maybe krills can have a few different origins. In abyss mural concept art we see those krills being transformed mantas for example
What if it's all of the above. What if a krill can be any light creature with bones
Tbh i'd be really surprised if there was a large creature earlier that got eaten by the leviathan, since not it leaves leviathan origin story completely empty. It just adds up from the story writing perspective that the manta creature became the leviathan imo
I always thought there's this story of eden crystal creation which is mirrorred throughout the elder cutscene.
-flame
-flame appears as a creature
-crystal made from darkstone
-???
-???
-crystal infused with the flame, creating the finished product
Not Eden crystal creation, but here’s a theory as to why the elders interact with the flame the way they do #lore-discussion-spoilers message
one of the first theories that got me started down this rabbit hole and i still 100% believe it
oh wow yeah i totally agree on everything said there, thats well written out
i had put together that forest elder literally just yoinks it from you and ignores you, and it seemed to me thats probably how they treated light creatures.
all those other ones are
the change over time of their attitude towards light/light creatures is pretty dramatic, in valley they even have mantas in some kind of captivity to be used in races, instead of just pulling boats and helping people travel.
they also seem to be pretty fixated on the crazy risky stunts and performances, in the aurora memory the one guy falls off and gets replaced pretty quick, and the valley elder twins are both using arm prosthetics and i kinda thought that they could have both lost their arms doing some really dangerous stunt
oh idk about the stunt thing with the elders, it’s pretty clear from their design that they’re meant to be more like “split” imo. they each have one eye and one arm on opposite sides, are referred to as “Elder of the Valley” and also one shared light between them (seen in orbit, but also hinted at in the design of the altar and their masks on the realm gates). so i think it’s more likely they were just born like that.
totally agree about the valley cultural things tho, they seem to have lived in excess and decadence, with lots of luxurious areas that barely look abandoned and even the “humble” village of dreams having a pretty high standard of living. and there’s a duality theme across the board, but especially in the aurora memories - the spirit memory shows ancestors racing with the mantas and enjoying all these luxuries, while the light creature pov of the same song in the concert shows the ancestor society capturing mantas for uh. “refinement.” and going back to the elders - each elder has a design themed after a creature, except for the Valley elders, which are themed after a manta but also….darkstone. because duality. two sides of the same coin. it’s absolutely fascinating and i could go on about it forever
not sure if this is coherent at all or if it’s just another nonsense valley rant by @ forgottenliv but
im adding these theories to a doc bc i cant keep up 💀
you’re free to save anything i wrote!
finally updated Megabird compilation Now with megamountain and Aviary door.
yeah that first thought is nothing concrete but just something i thought about that could have happened. seems like they were pretty big on dangerous stunts for the risk/excitement factor over in valley, and i can only imagine a lot of people got hurt
its not shown in game much, i wonder if they covered that stuff up or injured people would continue anyway through some kind of messed up pride
I noticed the bell tower in aviary rings every quarter of the hour like in home, but i've noticed how the bells also ring in other random moments, and my skykid also does a weird hand movement when that happens, no matter how far away i am from the bells. Does anyone know why this happens?
Hand movement??
yeah!! i think it’s like. in a large realm where competition is highly valued, people would probably go to serious lengths to stand out and make a name for themselves. this goes for athletic competitions with stunts and stuff but also other aspects of life, like fashion (a lot of big hairstyles and fancy clothes) or performances (putting on the Most over the top dramatic displays etc). i can see it being like everything is taken up to 11
oh, neat. maybe i was wrong, though it feels sketchy that the diamond the forest elder pieced together 1. is the same shape as eden diamond 2. is later on used in vault elder cutscene where it ascends. we see 2 uses of this shape iirc - shared memory and eden diamond. it would be weird if the shape coincided with the less signifficant one, especially since shared memories were added way after elder cutscenes were a thing. it has to mean something
the way you put it it sounds like they symbolise power diamonds and the refinement process. unity between the darkstone and creature light, light and darkness, body and soul, or sth
I'll have to see this for myself and look into that.
That is very interesting.
Is it a gesture of their hand holding their chest (holding their Light)? Or a pray emote?
I do believe it is just a bug- when we ring the bells (we can do so by walking up to a bell on the tower and pressing the music note icon) our hand makes a downward swishing motion, and this might explain the motion shown in irregular bell ringing. I’m not sure about it at all, though
oh, like a stomp?
well, we see that diamond shape elsewhere too, anywhere there is a darkstone mechanism. the eden diamond seems to be just a big version of that. it could represent the eden diamond symbolically, but idk if it’s supposed to be the literal thing itself
yeah or i meant it more like, the contradictions inherent in the system
let me draw a quick diagram for easier understanding
I know there is a bug where certain trigger events causes skykids in the area to do the relevant emotes for some reason.
The one I know happens often in my experience is the cave stomp trigger in Grandma's area (elevated forest).
When the cave opens up, my skykid would also do the stomp emote even though they were no where near it.
Oh hey! I actually accidentally scared some friends with this haha
You can walk up to the bells and ring them manually (the animation is like your skid is pulling a bells cord) so that explains the irregular ringing! For the other one, I think it's a bug cuz everytime someone rings a bell, every skykid in the perimeter will do the animation too
Like they are flipping a switch?
yes, exactly like this!
@nimble ingot Something like that, maybe
XD Typical Lorechat Mythbusters
true, although eden diamond is unique in that it's vertically elongated, the rest look more like regular octahedrons. see power diamonds in abyss quest cutscenes for example
Maybe that’s all darkstone products, not just the Eden crystal
I thought the ones in the cutscenes also looked like regular octahedrons
Checked, at least in case of forest i think you were right. I don't remember vault tho, will check when i have time
boom
Roll for Damage XD /j
We can see the line of light flows through the centre of the eden diamond, perhaps it just expanded on the vertical axis of power
does the teaser of the deer silhouette in news prove in any way that the masks of the spirits were based off of animals that existed and went extinct? it really reminds me of either 1. the serow mask or 2. the gratitude ultimate mask
Serow mask?
Are the prophet spirits considered an elder spirit too?
Are power tools cannon to Sky?
Idk if they’re connected in any way other than that they all look kinda like deer
where can I see the old designs?
Where can I find the completed lore of sky ?
Or like the basic lore
We havent seen any examples of power tools so far🤔
Most of the tools we've seen in the game are more iron age level or lower in terms of material advancement
Still, sky tech doesnt work or develope the same way our does (just look at the camera), so they likely had advanced tools and building methods based on light energy or crystal tech that we're dont fully understand yet
Im curious about what the eden elder looks like and what happend to him
Ah- my bad, it's from the game Journey actually not an actual beta design but this one are (the tower with le beam of light)
https://youtu.be/EbsbGhjnIzw?si=yU_2Ye2-7ujSOSi7 but here comparison of Krill from journey and sky
thanks you!! :3
I dunno but I had an OC who looks similar
No, but they probably had a similar status
This document has a summary, but there is nothing that covers absolutely everything

@music.lover @polar silo @hushed steeple @dim pasture @hushed steeple
The Eden Elder is very likely a Skykid. And in the final Shattering memory, we see them plummeting into the Eden Diamond, never to be seen again.
damn I just saw the video °-°
Mhm!
Wait what when
In the Red Shard Events, completing one gives the possibility of entering a pocket dimension which has creatures frozen in time. One of these memories shows the Elders and the King along with the Eden Diamond
Ive been there once but all i saw was darkness dang ima explore it more next time
I have a question, do y’all think the creatures we play as in Journey are predecessors to sky kids in Sky cotl?
I doubt traveler and sky kids are connected
Has anyone attempted to map the genealogy of the spirits? Usually, spirits with distinct hairstyles and appearances appear in other cutscenes -- a prominent example is literally every seasonal spirit -- but what about the main spirits?
Starting small, we have the Isle spirits, three in total. It appears that the Pointing candlemaker is related in some way to the Ushering Stargazer, as we see in the cutscene that Stargazer takes the form of a child boarding the boat.
When we focus on Stargazer, we notice that they take the form of an older person -- however, we also notice that they are accompanied by the rejecting voyager.
when we switch over to rejecting voyager, we see that they are accompanied by some spirit not featured in the main list. Identifiable features of this spirit are that it carries a pickaxe, has diamond-shaped eyes, and is bald.
Here, however, is where the trail runs cold, because this spirit is not a main spirit. However, it might have a high possibility of being featured in another spirit's cutscene.
By figuring out individual relationships of spirits, we might be able to uncover more about the lore itself.
a darkstone factory, most likely
Ooh
Clarification when does the krill exist?
At what time, do they exist alongside the spirits we meet? Or did they already exist before that?
Uncertain. There exist krills in murals in prophecy which may or may not suggest krills existed while the sky kingsom was being created. We know some of them quite likely origonate because of ancestors, but this tells us nothing about whether or not they existed in the wild and whethe they did before the shattering
Though probably they did exist before the shattering since shattering probably happened after the war and we see in seed aurora quest krill in the aftermath of the battle. Also, there are juvenile krills, who we also don't know the origins of, though it seemspossible that they have some sort of life cycle... Or maybe they just come from corrupted juvenile mantas or sth
Juvenile krills?
Is there a document anywhere where someone has complied a theorised timeline of events for Sky?
Interesting.. I was thinking that the Golden Wasteland has a name before it was called Golden Wasteland
Like for example all the bones that scatter can be from a whale corpse or something- and The Seed from The AURORA event just like you mention, the spirits look like they are having a war with someone (Idk if they are fighting the krill- but there's a part of the memory where they got shot with arrows)
What if the golden wasteland were a sanctuary for whales and other creatures and since we know some of the spirits hunt creatures of light. They begin to engage in a war with each other, for wanting the loot/area for themselves.
in the process, it caught the attention of Krills which led to the current state of the Golden Wasteland having its name changed and being in that state
alr i have something thats bothered me for quite a while that there may be explaination for that i didnt get: what are we doing with spirits and why do we have to do it over and over again? if the assumption i had was correct, we're trying to guide them through a vital memory to help them move on, go to orbit, but then they're there again. esp in the case of seasonal spirits. you free them and see them fly off and theyre just, there again. and then, theres so many places and things where spirits just, go about daily life- i.e. aviary village, or season of rememberance, or season of passage. how much of it is us reliving memories, and how much of it is just spirits still existing and having lifestyles despite being, yknow, dead? how much is real and how much is echoes?
I guess it's a repeat life cycle and a burden for children of light to carry xD
but like W H Y then fuidlsgua
I'm not sure as well tbh
i guess some of it could be just explained away as game mechanics but thats BORING
xD
so im assuming theres no actual explaination for it just yet
I don't have one sadly, maybe others already have the explanation you want?
i suppose its both gameplay and about how the world works but its pretty up to interpretation
i have a few thoughts on it, i believe if i remember right the game kinda drops a vague "the real journey starts here" after the credits roll and you are reborn for the first time, and i took that as kindof a your work here isnt done yet kinda message -
we go through the realms and free the spirits there who were frozen there, going through their memories and maybe helping them to move on ( maybe by sharing something of theirs and having their knowledge pass on to someone, us )
then in the end we sacrifice ourselves to free the people in eden with winged light, seemlingly making a ton more sky kids and helping everyone to fly into orbit, and us being reborn with them as well. ( sorta like theres one final wing to be given back to us in there, that lets us get reborn )
everyone goes off to orbit, and we're reborn to continue rebuilding the realms into something new, which we see most clearly in the aviary questline, atleast so far -
I think the spirits are dead, but not gone, and that orbit is where they came from in the first place, but they're coming down from orbit to try and live life again.
seasonal spirits and questlines seem atleast a lot of the time like you're trying to rebuild something, or help some group of spirits with some unfinished business. Rebuilding the wind paths in season of flight, helping the spirits in season of abyss to grab darkstone, which is either them wanting it to repair their boat, or them trying to clean those out of the water, and you also free a lot of light creatures during the quests.
in most of the questlines they do just fly off yeah, and most spirits ( the non guide ones ) stay up in orbit or leave to somewhere else, pretty unclear there.
I think the goal is a bit more clear with aviary in now, we're trying to maintain and rebuild the realms, as they're basically our home now too
you can re-live spirits memories for daily quests and to see em again but i dont think its like, really that much of a canon thing exactly unless the world is still messed up enough that spirits keep getting frozen and we have to save one every day LOL
I have mine here, in discord. You can copy and paste it and add it to another document, if you want.
The timeline is here: #lore-discussion-spoilers message
Oooo thank you very much! 💜
I took that "the real journey starts here" as that would previously been the first time you could have gotten ascended candles, so couldn't ascend any of the spirits up to that point (unless you ascended them in orbit), but also now that you had unlocked some spirits, you could now most likely go through the spirit/constellation gates, so you could now journey unhindered through all the realms.
yeah, I actually used to think you had to do eden before you could see seasonal spirits and pop into their areas, but it seems you just have to make it through vault and eden is optional
Oh, I thought it was Eden, never played with that mechanic on a new account.
Ignoring gameplay functions, here’s how I see it.
The first time you relive a spirit, the memories are a bright blue. And when you save them, the actual version of the spirit goes to the temple, in order to be ascended.
But after that, the spirit memories are gray. These are just remnants, and they don’t have any bearing on the story whatsoever.
After the spirits get ascended to the temple, they can return to the world. Spirits are like ghosts, so they can still be in the world, but can’t fully interact with it. That is why they task us with the season quests, because if they were alive, they could do it themselves
In early released builds, you couldn't see spirits that you had already done the memories of, but it made it harder to help others, and sucked that you couldn't replay them to see the story again.
ohh interesting
People love to separate things into “this is for gameplay reasons” and “this is for lore reasons”, but in reality, I think that everything the Skykid sees is “canon” (in the sense of distinguishing it from pure gameplay)
So version updates aren’t canon, but Home is, for example
Yeah totally, there can be a reason in lore too, even the bugs
For example the boats not working in dreams during release of that season I put down to it being the power was out, and there weren't enough skykids lighting it at that point

Haha yeah, fire prophet hadn't seen the light of day in so long, as their trial is really dark
They were just stressed at the amount of moths requesting their pants
poor guy doesn't see the sun for who knows how many years and then suddenly they are swarmed by thousands of moths demanding their pants LOL
( i was one of those moths too lmao )
Would it be considered rebirth? If reliving the same memories over and over again and stuff happening and changing at the same time?
The flowers being positioned in this way makes me believe that the worshippers were buried here. Also, what do you think they were worshipping? Megabird/the Light? The King? Something else?
That was for days of colors/rainbows. Each flower color represents the cape color needed for that particular Pilar thing.
They are obviously worship Oreo the mighty pupper
Somethin i was thinkin about, in the reveal for flight guide, it was mentioned they were the one who led the spirits there - i wonder if that would be interpreted as the guide leading them there as spirits, or before they were. Like as some sort of effort to rebuild the flight paths in the current time period, after everyone became spirits.
and then i dont remember how abyss was introduced, but maybe their guide took the spirits there wanting to undo some of the harmful things there ( trapped light creatures, maybe darkstone polluting the water )
who knows how long the underwater area was left there
Are the spirits older sky kids?
Kinda looks to me like they are, they charge you, they have emotes and stuff, the only difference is no cape on some of them, and they are blue (unless ascended)
Even the ones that do have capes, though; could not fly in their lives.
Sorry, I don't mean to come in here and just instantly shoot down the last comment on the board...
I just caught up to Aviary Quests, and wanted to see if there are any interpretations of... Oh... That cinematic I didn't take any pictures of
I don't think they are
Or at least, not all of them
Some do have masks and look very close to us
But others are very different
I wouldn't be surprised if some are sky kids and others are just another species
Iirc there's also a spirit memory of two spirits finding a fallen sky kid?
Idk how no one bring this bfore but could it be that the song sang by AURORA from the beginning of isle and the credit montage that sounds somewhat gibberish is a preview of the ancestors language?
I just watched through Aurora. Why during the battlefield scene the soldiers fought the mantas?
the ancestors fought each other. some seem to have used mantas as a sort of war mount
They have some similarities, but I think they are like the evolutionary origin of Skykids.
Maybe after the spirits died, the Skykids were created as a more refined version
Idk why I see a whole bunch of moths just grabbing at the poor spirit's pants and offering their candles of it
I kinda see it as the Skykids being made to resemble the Ancestors, but not having a direct biological connection to them
What does the pant look like?
You may be onto something.
Seeing how we see the stupas we see spirits appear from (similar to the gravestones we see at the start of a level to meet the spirits).
are these the elders?
yeah, you can kinda make em out - valley twins are on the left there, i think forest elder is bottom left behind the sparkles
then on the right that looks like isle elder's staff, and maybe thats vault elder closest to us
farthest right i think has the gloves/gauntlets of wasteland elder, from what i can make out i think
what would this be then? eden castle?
not super sure, but something to do with eden would be what i've heard people think it is
like the spikes on the top are a crown maybe, so some kind of symbol or something of eden or an eden elder/king
this is from the elder memory, which probably means that it features only the elders and the main objects concerning the elders
... I think that's the king
Probably the Eden Elder, upside down
i have closer up images of that i think, lemme see (they may need time to send)
On a similar note, went to an OOB of a building seen from wasteland shipwreck. Pretty clear king depiction with perhaps a halo-like embellishment? And carving on building side is interesting. Megabird representation or Eden crystal with light emanating?
Couldn’t help but be vaguely reminded of the shapes on the back of this statue in orbit castle
that darn star appears everywhere
I always thought it was a sword 😅 I can see now that it def isn’t a sword oops
oddly enough it looks like a spear head kinda shape to me, just with the handle vaporized off lol
if i were to speculate even harder on that point maybe that would imply something or someone attacked and shattered the crystal
That’s what I always thought cuz we don’t know who the eden elder is/was (as far as I’m aware at least) to me it def looks like that’s going to hit it and it’s going right for the crack that’s forming
Idk why the eden elder would’ve attacked the crystal but it’s possible
interesting how it has the effect on it too, like the wind or something is rushing past it. the elders dont have that, so maybe either its stationary or is moving into the crystal and cutting through the air
Oh no this game has lore, bouta be up till 3AM now
Ohohoho, just you wait
The Eden elder (named Resh in the early stages and sometimes called that by the fandom) is from the old designs of the game, but there is clear evidence of his presence in the actual game. His design looked a lot like the statues that are scattered about the Wasteland, especially in front of Tsadi's temple.
While the spiked peice does look like Resh's mask in the old design, I do believe it might be a falling star. I don't have any proof of that tho lol
I didn’t even notice that those statues where in orbits castle lol
I spotted one of those statues in the eye of Eden’s storm and it dropped the wing like things on the back off
Thought it was pretty cool
hmm, how many seasons/areas in the game have spots where spirits show up to casually hang out or do somethin?
we have whats new in Aviary, I know about Grandma, and i know a bunch of spirits show up in for season of Performance to watch the stage. There's also the skater girl who shows up in the village to skate around on the ice sometimes.
Just wondering how much the spirits come down from the stars/sky to chill and do some stuff
I might be a reference to possibly golden buildings that valley was known for?
This might be some lore drop,
Do you think Ancestor Spirits are the one who create red candle and scatter them everywhere in the world of sky?? Like is there any secret ingredient to create them? (Dark stone?)
Pretty sure them being dead is part of it xD
Nvm that's too dark-
And how are those red candles give us WAX WAX WAX after we light those? (I know it's for our currency but heck i want to know)
Hmm.. I like to imagine doing our I forgot what it is called.. Quest? No, the one where we need to task every day and it gives us candles or season candles
Anyways, by doing that we somehow kinda refresh the candles? Since it used to be a spirit
I am being a bit farfetched right now xD
If our ancestors are the one create them, i want to thank them for candle cake 🫶
Yum, big cake
Theory: hopeful steward is the kid from two embers
Does the sky language read from left to right, or from right to left?
talkign about this
They have similar hair
Ooh! Have you ever seen the sky language used in the game before?
noticed this today, the spirit has a star on the back of their cape, like they have a winged light themselves. do other spirits with capes have that?
Didn't we also start with one star? (I can't recall-)
we start without a cape, then get our brown one with a single star when we pick up our first winged light
Iirc when you have 0 stars you don't have a cape at all
Then somehow that spirit died and still has 1 wing of light remaining?
That's assuming WLs are even involved in the case of a spirit
Hmm
If i weren't in class rn i'm go check on all the other cape spirits to see if they have that
well, it seems the others do, too
i had never thought to look, lol
Aren't color capes special since they have a place in Daylight Prairie? (I forgot)
The one where you need to unlock with many players (also the place where you can summon Oreo)
I dont remember anything with colored capes over there
though, i do recall there being something there to change a cosmetic that i had no idea why it was there lol
Ima borrow this
Not sure, maybe on the bells, but I want to know because I want to write in the sky language.
The video specifically, maybe it's not Wing of Light? Maybe it's the spirits with colored capes since days of colors/rainbows needed to activate the pilar thing- like someone mention
Maybe that one star is the spirit itself? Since during that event, we need to use cape colors to open a pillar thingy, as this person said-
And we can add lore to that by including that event- sooo maybe spirits with color cape are important? Maybee?
Ya can see the bell letters?? And that definitely would be cool, secret sky code
I think it can be related with days of colors/rainbows for addition lore ✨
What's the lore/story behind this scene?
it’s from Days of Color 2023! During the event there was a puzzle where you go to the place with your color cape, that’s also why the cape closet is there. The geyser would also give you a random colored cape and matching trail spell
Before the event, that area used to be pretty plain with just some grass and the oreo area
I like the idea of dyeing clothes in the geyser tho, maybe with light or pigments from flowers or something
Left to right, and it’s only in concept art
If I recall correctly, that's just a weirdsie necessary because of programming
it doesn't actually confirm ancestors having Winged Lights

I think it’s because of the ornate gold buildings
I think the red candles are extremely similar to the wax we pick up. They were probably created using wax, as a sort of wax fountain to help give the fellow Ancestor Spirits light. Now they’re here to help us.
Is there any lore behind this? 👀
From Tom Zhao's concept art:
Forest Elder is indicated to be the inventor of darkstone and its related technology, which has then likely been built in wider scale in Wasteland to up the production for the entire kingdom
ohh okay. Thanks!
Oh that’s what that is??? Man I guess I’m really non perceptive I never even realized that’s what it was I just thought they did that for it to look cool
They keep it pretty vague in game. The only clear depiction of it is in Treasure Reef, literally buried deep underwater. The rest is just hints like this throughout the environment
Absolute blessed moment: Confident Sightseer playing with their kid in Aviary
Is it a common belief that darkness plants are corrupted butterflies? I’m not super familiar with lore theories but that’s my thinking, the plants kind of have the right shape and sometimes release butterflies when burned
Kinda sorta, there is a theory that the butterflies are also trapped
That makes sense, they are able to be released by fire and there’s the darkness in forest where mantas are trapped too
we find mantas trapped by darkness plant in forest, possible that its just a weird dark fungus that entraps light creatures
the concept does exist in concept art!
ooh thank you
I feel like the plants haven't changed much since concept art - they are forms of light trapped by darkness, though probably not strictly corrupted butterflies
@dreamy saddle
yeah i def think darkness plants sort of come from light creatures- the jars in prairie caves were probably once used as storage for caught butterflies, and we see darkness plants growing out of them
I think there’s butterflies also trapped in ones in gw, unless some just happened to spawn in as I finish burning a plant in the first area
It’s probably more of a symbolic thing for the trapped creates as forest does have a manta trapped by the plants but not like inside them if that makes sense
yeah i could see that
can anybody explain sky lore to me 🤔️

Ded whale and Krill is there
What are some theories on crabs? I saw one theory that they used to be skykids, because of the way they crawl? I was also thinking maybe they could be related to birds/be corrupted birds somehow because the circles they crawl in remind me of birds circling but idk
I think that the crabs are neutral creatures that have been corrupted by darkness, and they attack sky kids because of their light. There are a few tiny crabs in aviary village that don’t have black specks clinging to them and they seem to just be hanging out
Yeah and a few in sanctuary and the ones at the wasteland bonfire can be neutral/friendly.. maybe they become aggressive when there’s pollution/darkness like in wasteland, shards, and the pollution in sanctuary with the big cave plant?
Are shards crab the same thing as normal crab? If so- what if the crabs came from previous shards?
Shattering shard crab*
Ooh interesting idea! I’m just curious about crabs because I know a couple of devs said that the way they walk is important to their nature/what they are, maybe they’re connected to shards in a way
Really?? I didn't know about the walking part!
Sorry for not responding! This is the one I mean: #lore-discussion-spoilers message / #lore-discussion-spoilers message

Also I have confirmed that though it is covered now, the giant darkness plant in aviary is still present!
Yes! Also they seem to be made of a similar “material” to unlit kids (the gray stone/clay) and the glowing eyes you mentioned
From what fiber did the ancestors make their textiles? I’m guessing it has to be something from plants, because we don’t see any wool-producing creatures in Sky.
we do see some ancestors wearing fur-looking material, and especially the passage spirits wore masks of traditionally furry animals
it is not impossible that there may have been furred animals that have since gone extinct or that we haven't seen for other reason
but otherwise, likely some plant fiber like cotton, yes
!spoilers
Server spoiler rules have changed. They now only include:
- Beta content is not allowed outside beta channels, even with spoiler tags. (This includes beta content that is not live or not meant to be accessible)
the newest area of aviary shows balls of yarn and fabric so perhaps fibers of some sort yeah, would have to be plants unless they're shearing seals or something?
as I said, there are some cosmetics that at the very least mimic the look of furs
whether it is real pelts or faux furs is hard to say, and likely intentionally up for personal interpretation, just like anything in the game
even if the game touches on exploitation of animals, I doubt we'll get to see ancestors explicitly hunting and killing animals ever
actually forgot the hermit
Okay okay- I’m kinda starting to disagree with the popular theory that sky kids have a clay/stone outer shell that protects their light. The only reason is because you can clearly hear a heartbeat. Rather when you’re close with friends or in Eden, sky kids have a heartbeat like humans.
Which brings me to my next question, if sky kids have a heartbeat therefore a heart rate, can they suffer from a heart attack???
to imply there is a heart is to imply there is blood to pump, which can't really be true since we've seen skykids crack before. if there is anything similar to a heart (probably our built in candle) , it would probably pump flame instead of blood
Oh where is that?
Little Prince Area
It's in the last quest if ya haven't do it (ya still can go there)
Ahhhi see , i didnt do the prince quests yet haha
Oo well i wanted to get an elder mask anyways so..byebye 125 wl whenever i have time
The pain TwT..
i swear sky is one of those games that has a very deep lore,we need matpat to solve
Maybe not matpat xD
"I doubt we'll get to see ancestors explicitly hunting and killing animals ever" we saw some very dead mantas during Aurora concert
I’m the server’s Matpat right now wdym
That's better xD
Tbh in the Aurora quest we did see a spirit hunt jellyfish (by catching it) nothing to detail or graphic tho
Please not matpat
Have you watched the concert itself? We had a scene where a battle was taking place and there are ||bodies punctured by spears and swords, human and mantas included||
In the concert during Warrior we can also see mantas being caught in nets
Since the Warrior memory is in the Citadel and we see ancestors racing with mantas maybe that's why they're caught?
They were also used for war
Ah yes, sorry I forgot xD (my bad) but it wasn't that graphic to me tbh-
It was sad tho idk why (for me, at least-)
It was
"I would rather feel this world through the skin of a child"
Also, I'ma pin this again. Did the spirits have a beef with other spirits back then?
Like what war are they fighting for??
What's the reason for these peaceful spirits, these calm and collected spirits?? Engaging war with who?
No idea, but I've heard that the Elders had beef with each other
Tbh I can see Valley and Hidden Forest Elders having a beef with each other xD
While Golden Wasteland try to calm the situation but end up joining the brawl while Dawn and Prarie just watch
And there's Vault try to calm the Forest, Golden and Valley in a peaceful matter xD
The battle we see in aurora's concert is likely the violent climax of a sort of war. There was turmoil in the kingdom, likely due to protests and resentments about the exploitation, pollution and destruction of the environment for darkstone production.
I can see that happening tbh, especially in the season of remembrance
WOOLY MANTAS
Basically, a bunch of people thought that there was a wooly, round version of the manta which ancestors made their clothes. However, they were hunted to extinction, similar to beavers and bisons in the real world.
Here’s some fanart:

Get Austin, the science guy first
He’s more interesting
Flof
in my mind it’s Valley and Wasteland fighting each other with Forest (politically at least) caught in the middle
yes?
Me: comes back to mantas being hunted and the server's Matpat
Also me: Theoretically speaking, one would assume that SOME KIND of light creature has fur to begin with for fur or faux fur to be a thing
Plus, with furred clothing, it doesn't need to have been a wooly animal it would've just needed to be any animal with fur that could be skinned
Light sheep 🥺 that would be so cute if they did exist (doubtful of that tho we it doenst really match with any of the other animals we’ve seen)
You never know what could've existed before the disaster occurred
you ever think about how sky kids are conditionally imortal? since skids are in a constant cycle of dead and rebirth? it made me think about the concept of time for the beings of sky and kinda went into the territory of land of the lustreous
Ive been thinking so much about possible theories for a while ... is there anything considered canon about the diamond that we see in eden, or not?
There’s no “considered canon”, whatever is seen in Sky is fair game.
In this case, the Eden Diamond was built by someone, and was highly praised for it. But then, it shattered, with the Elders being almost destroyed.
Not just conditionally immortal, functionally immortal as well. Skykids don’t ever age, and they only “die” when they want to.
I wonder if it was some sort of giant version of the smaller diamonds/stones that we see in the forest or in the valley? and it seems to have the light beam directly pointing at it or emanating from it
what if the purpose of it was to be a sort of 'ultimate' powersource, which for example the elders may have disagreed about exploiting? as it is known that light creatures were most definitely exploited for their light, and if the story kind of mirrors the mistakes of humanity itself... what if that is how they had taken their light for granted? thinking that it may never turn against them?
what ive been thinking about is maybe the fact that it was used as an ultimate powersource could have been disagreed upon, and ive also been thinking that, just like there are occasional explosions which happens and then shards falling... what if, at one point in time, there was a massive explosion spreading darkness across the realms?
i wonder if instead of dsistributing light as it shouldve, perhaps the density of the diamond became too great. much like a star collapses on itself when it becomes too high in density and starts absorbing light, what if the same happened to that diamond, in a similar fashion to a black hole?
yeah! the other day I went to eden and observed the mural that you see in the second part of eden, right before you go out. and the person that was being revered and praised for it had this sort of crown or light coming from them, so i wonder if it could be pointing at the king or eden elder?
nod nods!!! i do wonder how long the world of sky as been "alive" for 🤔 i know we'll never get a land of the lustreous kind of end to sky i think thatd be way to sad and bittersweet but it makes you think ykno?
speaking of which, can the elders now be considered 'dead' or simply devoid of their former light?
They have fallen as how the game mentioned it.
It is a nicer way to say someone has died, or passed away, as far as I understood the phrase.
That huge table in Vault is where the elders held meetings
I can’t believe the slow mode for this channel is still so high
higher than the general chats
maybe its to encourage us to type longer messages and put more thought into them
?
The channel was never active enough to warrant a slow mode, so it’s not like a bygone relic of the past
It’s been here for years, maybe in fear that the channel would explode whenever the Matpat doomsday scenario happens
Honestly i understand it
Because i've seen very active channels try to lore and it is a mess
So putting a slowmode really helps avoid issues in case many people talk at once
Do you think there's any difference in meaning by the radiating lines from the diamond? (Vertical vs Horizontal)
But 37 seconds?? That’s longer than genchat
Horizontal tends to be seen only on the elders
Vertical is only on the Passage outfits
The unfilled diamonds on the temples look like they had a border all the way around, and were also probably associated with the Elders
There’s also the filled-in diamond with the border all the way around, which is found most frequently in Valley and is one of the two symbols on the shields in Wasteland
what is that symbol anyway? just a common symbol?
probably yeah
Also the
season symbol
a visual bc i have no life
I can see it
I just had a sad realization about the season of abyss
So I was thinking 'These spirits aren't actually like here and in the moment, that doesn't make enough sense to me' but then I realized the ancestor spirit. They're entirely expressionless and only watch us complete the quests. So what I think is we're reliving THEIR memories or the experiences that happened
The only stipulation is that alot of the stuff that happens in the final trial doesn't rlly make sense
Oh, Baud is still here!
And yeah, abt the slow mode yall said earlier, I was kinda shocked this place is under permanent 30 lsec slowmode... again. I remember it was removed at some point, but it seems it's back... oof
What happened to golden wasteland
Some kinda battle
The land got wasted
Hi! This might be a really weird question, but, every area is like at a random spot in an infinite pool of water, and I was wondering if all areas were in the same pool of water and you'd be able to get to different areas if you could fly far enough (which would explain why sometimes if you get too far from your friends in the same area you'd split servers) or if every area is in a completely different infinite pool of water
And some more questions from someone else:
why some islands (if they are bordered by water) are full of clouds at the bottom? Why are clouds so close to water in the first place? Is it just one huge floating island or several?
is the office and satellite ship related to the lore? they feel so out of place like they’re just bonus content
Definitely not canon
alr thanks ^_^
maybe stupid question, but why are there spirits in aviary? I thought they were ascended to heaven
maybe there was a furry supspecies of manatee or something?
they can come back and visit
Probs because orbit gets boring after a while
I think that the spirit memories where we get the emotes are in the past, but when we free them, they return to the Sky world and live as a ghost in the present.
I think it’s a far neater explanation. Abyss was the first season to use spirits in the present, so there were lots of confusion at the time, but most seasons afterwards make it clear.
That makes me feel old
I think it’s mostly a gameplay thing, but there are ways to explain it:
Most areas in Sky are in the clouds. If you look at the map, everywhere except for places like Treasure Reef are completely covered in clouds.
Perhaps the “infinite ocean” is just what lies below the clouds?
WOOLY MANTA
i don’t know what this means but i found it in eden, figured this would be the best channel to ask
I believe that's portraying the King showing the Eye of Eden to the others
what’s the king?
there should be an explanation to the weird geography of sky
i myself think that floating islands exists same as normal islands, continents which lies on the surface/ocean level, whereas some could've ascended for unknown reasons or mountains that are high enough to reach the clouds level
Although we have only seen archipelagos and islands around the surface level, so ig those lands are just as distancing as the lands on the clouds level
iirc the King was a kid elected by the elders to rule over the lands
where did you get this info? i never paid attention to the stuff on the walls but i probably should hearing this😭
anyone care to adopt a moth?
goh it's been over the years
I had been trying to get into the lore but it got hard for me to decipher on my own so I just read other people's findings but eventually lost track
but most is based on figuring out these murals
FROM WHERE DID U GET THAT
vague memories
You might have more luck in #looking-for-group-live
This channel is for discussing the story of the game
oh sorry im new
I advise studying the murals
I will try that again myself aswell
https://sky-children-of-the-light.fandom.com/wiki/Murals
An old name for the Eden Elder, they will be explored in the new Two Embers series
Have you been to the Cave of Prophecies? Completing everything there and lighting up the lanterns will reveal a lot
Is there lore about the space station area?
not really
the office, and that space station area especially, are all considered easter eggs that exist outside of canon lore
I think I once heard the suggestion that the space station may have been an asset from early development, when Sky was still meant to feature some modern day style cities, but that's just the vaguest guess
that's not technology that seems to have ever existed in the Sky kingdom
Is eye of eden called Eye of Eden because it was once a paradise before the darkness came and it was the most peaceful part of the kingdom? Or am I reaching?
no cause i literally came to this realization while writing a sky fanfiction 💀
very likely so, yes
im so smart 😘 ✌️
The map makes this a little bit clearer, The sky world is still a planet after all, so islands that are in the water are likely just on the surface, while the rest are in the sky
I think, given the “eye” part, that the entire kingdom was a paradise and the mountain was just at the center
Great review, they cracked the code
I mean, it would be fun to do a monotheistic Abrahamic reading of Sky through a (very distorted) lense
LMAOOO
Though Eden (explosion) feels less like a fall of angels and more like a humanity reset such as an Ark situation, mostly through their own hubris by the looks of things, and so the spirits are humans with faults.
Though with local spirits, I'd say it could also be read through a Shinto lense too.
Was this somebody trolling?? I’m christian too but dang 😵💫
you'd think the satanic panic is over by now but alas
I wish this was a troll but I can very much see someone thinking that way
They were 100% trolling, unless they were really trying to see it I don't get how one could think eye of eden(or whatever they saw) had any satanic message
For real!
Some people see satanic messages damn near everywhere
This feels to ridiculous to be serious but you never know with some people
they probably got to wasteland and saw
from the sound of it, that was their reaction to eye of eden
She really get traumatic by the beauty of eye of eden for sure
Hi! I've noticed that not all spirits have capes or decorative masks and can't help but thinking that it was a special rite that not all ancestors passed
Like the season with the mask maker was sending young spirits out to learn new things and they would earn special masks, but not all of them had capes
With a kingdom specifically in the sky, they developed the flying boats, but what would be the point other than transporting bigger things if all of them could fly with capes. I don't know the rite of passage that would let a spirit earn a Cape, but it seems a lot more strict than earning a mask
Sorry I just wanted to get this of my chest 😅
Though I'm not sure off hand, I believe the spirits (at least the base ones) with capes only have one flap. which isn't really enough for flight, beyond gliding.
So that could explain why they still use mantas and the like
plus big carts to carry lots of stuff or heavy stuff.
I need to make an eden run to see if you glide less without the cape to be sure.
I think the spirits having a WL star is merely a programming issue, not actually canon. We can see in several memories that ancestors couldn't fly (the Hermit has to catch the Dreams skater, and one of the Abyss spirits is seen climbing a tower)
It probably comes from spirits being modeled after Skykids, and you have to have 1 WL to get a cape as a Skykid
The spirits had lost the light so they couldnt fly. Only the children of light have the power of flight becaus of their inner light
hermit and the dreams skater don't have capes, but yes that is a valid complaint
Though I suppose we are arguing from different angles on this point, a Watsonian vs a Doylist perspective (aka within the context of the game, vs the extra information that we know by virtue of it being a game)
The Ceasing Commodore does https://youtu.be/22EQyy5R0HQ?t=114
Ah but they'd only have one flap. Neither of us could get up there with a single flap too.
Like I said though, this is partially an issue of what information we are using to base this conversation upon. My argument only makes sense in the Watsonian sense, as it falls apart once we realize that the fact they have a star is because of the limits of the code (the Doylist explanation)
What I think is that anything the Skykids see is fair game.
If it’s information the Skykid can parse out, it can be talked about as lore. Otherwise, we’d be talking about things like lore explanations for the UI.
That's the diegetic (Watsonian) perspective then. Which doesn't discount the 1 star on spirits with capes argument necessarily, it just depends on if cape stars are diegetic UI. Which they might be, since they don't disappear when recording on iOS.
but I'll be honest, I just like to toy with the implications of ideas, so I really don't want to cause any hard feelings from pitching my flag on this particular hill tonight
That’s fine, it’s an interesting idea
Is there any idea on what the krill are or where they came from?
Angry black shrimp
Does anyone have a rough estimation of how big the abyss leviathan is in ft or metres??
Random bet they were created in the harnessing of darkness for use in war judging by the way they patrol and, if my memory serves me, are depicted being caught against during one of the Aurora (?) quests.
that would imply that all of the depictions of ferrying light back to eden occurred after they split the kingdom and had war(s). but it makes more sense considering the soldier spirits fought both krill and other people (implied)
either because they realized they messed up and eden was collapsing or something, or harvesting light was some kind of greed play. and thus the sky kids are left to continue the dirty deed until some future lore dump to add missing context
Ngl I really want an event about war but not like remembrances something more daring like The Seed from Aurora event
Tho Krill probably gonna get involved..-
Tho! It may introduce more dark creatures * - *
idk if this really belongs here but i think it's interesting how the animals that the light creatures are based off of (whales, birds, etc) eat the animals that the darkness creatures are based off of irl (krill, crabs)
i want to say something else about this but my brain is fried
Maybe in a not so far future we could have a war-themed season with huge juicy background lore, it might be even rawer than Prophecy, also a change from all the warmy-friendly seasons we're having
Yess tho ngl season of remembrance makes me cry x'D

Its here: #lore-discussion-spoilers message
seasons have an order, right? they didn't happen all at the same time. but what is that order? can't find a chart anywhere
The roles channel has the seasons in the order they occurred
so does the wiki, in reverse order
https://sky-children-of-the-light.fandom.com/wiki/Seasonal_Events
As in, a timeline?
no.. I mean like.. realistically? obviously something like season of belonging didn't happen after the war
yeah timeline
Here’s mine: #lore-discussion-spoilers message
I do think some seasons happen around the same time, but the order would go like this:
Prophecy, Passage, Sanctuary, (first 4), Moments, TLP, Remembrance, Assembly, Dreams, Enchantment, Flight, Shattering, Performance, Abyss
Revival isn’t finished yet, so I’ll put it later
for some reason that was depressing to read ☹️
was the aviary evacuated and destroyed due to the war? you could argue there was not a single spirit there except for steward which also looked to be entering it. and I believe the guides originally weren't there
It’s very likely The Two Embers will cover on this more, with Hopeful Steward appearing as a character, although it could be possible it takes place after the war
So what are we called when we’re no longer children? Skyadults?
that is implying skykids will ever not be skykids
Idk, just been thinking about it since I turned 18. Not a skyKID anymore so
It's less lore and more like a headcanon, but I've always thought that it would work narratively that if there was ever some sort of "older" or "evolved" skykid they would be similar to the elders
I kinda like that idea
huh, whats that one from or about?
kinda looks like sanctuary to me a bit maybe?
I leapt out of my seat, thank you.
should give a source for art you post
this seems to be concept art from genshin https://genshinresource.tumblr.com/post/726971120156311552/endless-adventure-in-teyvat-fontaine-edition
What’s this?
psst,,, yknow how most of the winged lights on the surface (besides ||eden||, prophecy, and a couple others) r looking up?
ive always taken it as the wingies trying to point us in the right direction, but i just thought of them imprinting on the children of the kingdom looking up in horror as Eden exploded for the first time and i mean... yike
Aurora isn't canon yeah?
She would probably be a significantly bigger deal than the Elders themselves if she was
Honestly yea, that’s probably true lol. Though the spirits atleast seem pretty cannonical to me; considering how fleshed out and consistent their backstories are, I think what we see in their memories can be relied on
Tho my interpretation of Aurora was that she came into the picture after the elders had passed, in the present day.
She would be on the level of goddess if she was canon
I simply see Aurora as non-canon
Aurora's role is very much up for interpretation. Some consider her an aspect of The Light itself, that has come down to tell the Skykids about the world and the memories of many light creatures that have lived through it. Though I don't think she is the Light as a whole, at best a fragment. She is primarily a storyteller and voice for the stories of others.
Some just consider her outside of canon, as she is based on a real person, and that's also valid.
It's definitely for the best to not assume Aurora as THE goddess of Sky - since Sky is implied to not really have a deity figure like that. The closest we have is what was called the 'Megabird' in concept art/development and is now just 'The Light' in live. It's an accumulation of matter, perhaps memories, more like a force of nature than an actual individual.
However, within the concert, Aurora definitely takes on the role of said Light in a couple of scenes - much like an actor takes on a role. Aurora in the concert is primarily a storyteller, a voice.
This is a beautiful interpretation of Aurora’s role in sky! Reading your thoughts has been very illuminating (haha light pun). If you don’t mind me inquiring, I haven’t actually seen any megabird concept art! What was it like in the beta??
you cannot eat candle oh no
you can if you're not a coward
these are two concept arts that can be found on Tom Zhao's website
Oop, it seems Rooty has explained it better than I ever can
I’d still love your take on it if you’re willing to give it!
the second one in particular shows how light creatures return to 'megabird', much like we do in game as we travel to orbit
when we reach orbit, there is a bird like constellation that can be seen above orbit and in the credits.
'Visiting The Light' is mentioned when we are supposed to head to Orbit (I think in the TLP quest for example, iirc)
when you unlock a constellation fully it tells you you need to travel to "the light" too ( where you meet the elder of the constellation you just finished )
The final scene in Orbit, where Aurora transforms into a giant figure, makes me think they’re an emissary of Megabird/ The Light. They are still mostly disconnected from the world of Sky, like the spirits, but at least they have a greater connection to Orbit.
I hunt the grounds for peas and hate the way it hides from me
Ahhh, I see I see. So there’s definitely that piece of symbolism woven into the game; good to know!
Okay I gotchu! I think that’s a good stance to take on it, considering it’s pretty grounded in what we know 👍
Also, in Eden, it says “Beyond the storm, the Light awaits” with that exact capitalization
i wonder what exactly it is we do in eden, since while we are reborn and time progresses for some places ( like aviary questline with the eden trip there ) a lot of stuff regresses, like the castle floating here which goes almost into orbit goes back down here
sorta like maybe us going in there stops whatever is breaking the cycle of rebirth, and everything floods at once into the sky, is reborn, and pops back down again, or something, but only temporarily.
Eden still is like one huge light beacon aiming and throwing light into the sky, so im not even really sure on that
I think the castle stays in the same position, it just looks different because we’re inside the beam
hmmm, maybe? it feels way higher up to me but i dont have a good image of it, even my OOB clips i took the other night there cut off the part where i looked down
Not me thinking it was a different castle 💀
In all seriousness though, I think I agree with Baudshaw in this, it coukd definitely be a matter of the perspective. Though considering that it is in fact floating, perhaps it wouldn’t be unreasonable for it to move a bit as you ascend!
I kinda always got the feeling towards the end of eden that its kinda a crazy moment where instead of a huge storm, all the force of the light and wind is just propelling everything including you and the castle, up into the sky
there are even rocks up in there, maybe the castle is too heavy to make it all the way LOL
I like that; a relatively big theme in sky is ancestory, and by lifting the castle up into the sky with you, it feels like you’re honoring the spirits before!
ahh, i found this angle in a clip which is looking backwards after regaining some control before the loading screen, which is typically just after you'd pass the castle
obviously not really intended to ever be looked at like this, but you can kinda see some of the city structure there, and i feel eden castle would normally be viewable at this angle
( unfortunately i didnt think to look at it in the same clip
)
Okay okay I gotchu! Would you happen to have the link to the video 👀
unfortunately its a shadowplay clip so only 30 seconds but if you're curious here it is LOL ( some person i randomly met in eden did it and i followed em lmao )
i'll have to do the thing again this sunday and get a better view of the castle i think
also with a normal view of the castle - large chunks of it are ripped off it seems like, only like half of it went into the sky
Even more interesting… where did the other half of the castle go?? Did it become all of the rocks that hit you? Gee… that would be even more symbolic, symbolism overload.
Also, I agree with you that the castle should definitely be visible in that clip!
the very bottom of the spire meets with the tallest spire on the ground there, man i really gotta get a good angle of it all lol
I'd eden myself right now but i do not want to collect winged light for the t hird time this week lmao
Can I come with you? Tbh I’d love the chance to analyze it, and I would love to hear your thoughts on it! (When eden happens)
if you're around at eden reset time thats usually when i do it! I can also give you the clip if you want its surprisingly easy LOL
Ooooh alright! Please do! I don’t know if I’ll be on around reset time, but I’d still be super curious to hear your thoughts on it all!
when you head over to this part at the very start of the ascent to orbit, instead of going through the huge doorway and sliding down the hill with the jellyfish, go left and theres a big window in the wall with a lattice pattern
it... doesn't have collision! then theres the view on the other side of me doing it for the first time LOL
eventually itll just carry you up like normal
I'll try and make sure to send the video and ping ya if you dont end up being around, heh
Woaaa, now that’s a handy trick for sure! I will keep that in mind!
saves a minute or two maybe if you're in a hurry, heh
Going to back to your original question on what we do in eden, I was always kind of curious about how the WL play into all of it. That definitely seems like a big part, but it’s also one of the most confusing to me! How do the winged lights reset weekly? What’s their relationship to the spirits, and to us? Any thoughts?
odd question, do we even need to use any of our winged light on the statues or if we die does it work anyway?
im kinda assuming it'd work anyway, so maybe they people we free dont have anything to do with it, and its about dying and meeting who/whatever is there in that memory area similar to the shattering's memories
from my thoughts on the shattering and eden crystal being like a huge darkstone crystal made to take in a ton of light, i think maybe we die and our light gets taken by the crystal, but maybe sky kids are a bit different seeing as we can kinda exist in that space. we can even exist without light even if its not great.
we embrace the fella in there, and then its a flood of light to us and upwards as we leave that space.
maybe we're the only people who can enter the crystal to take the light in there and free it
( though im remembering now our body gets crystallized and frozen and our spirit pops out of it like all the other ancestor spirits. im not sure how we get a body inside that space )
Good ideas good ideas. And of course it’s meant to be intentionally ambiguous. And it’s true that probably even just our presence would allow us to activate the cutscene!
I might think that like... we cant stop the eden crystal from absorbing all or atleast a ton of the light which is supposed to have its life cycle go through eden mountain, but we can go through there to free it. and maybe theres a period of time between that and our rebirth, to where a ton of the light gets reabsorbed by the crystal again
Like we're being dropped from the sky like "hey, another eden crystal needs your help!"
I think so.
Does the mean the castle state is already like that?
Hey , so....does anyone have a clue for this mask ? It's above the hidden forest temple door , and it doesn't look like any creature we saw before , although it does look a tiny bit similar to the hidden forest old concept art by Tom Zhao ( i dont have the concept art photo , but here's the photo of the mask )
that's really all it is
the old forest concept art mask
The winged light don’t reset every week. Do you mean the statues? If so, I think the statues are fallen Skykids just like us.
I vaguely remember that when you die in Eden without reviving any statues, no Skykids come with you to Eden, although I may be wrong
The week before, I got a 63 run, so the remainder of the week, I did storm ubers. a single skykid came to meet me at the end each run.
next week i can intentionally revive no statues at all to see if it's different to having had revived on a previous run.
Did anyone think about if the sky kids, spirits, ect would dress up different in every realm? Such as in isle that they would dress up more covered bc sand and wind ig?
Spirits yes, but Skykids move around a lot
I. Love. LORE!
Question. A bit out of date, but...do we know where they'll put Sky: Two Embers? What platform we'll watch it on?
That’s a good question. My first guess would be a webseries on YouTube for free, but Netflix also has a slim chance. It has to be something in which a people of all countries can watch
I'm an absolute sucker for Lore so...if they can use this to build on ideas they had but couldnt use outside of hints in the game...I'm sold!
There are already some things we know in the trailer, like that Eden’s light is being harvested and that Hopeful Steward appears
I know and it made me internally scream so hard. They did so much better crafting a TEASER trailer than I've seen out of movies lately. It's got me so friggen jazzed.
I’m not sure if I should watch the full trailer though, apparently it’s coming out in the PC release. I don’t want them to spoil too much
Ooh...that's fair. Sometimes the trailer leaves you wanting or hypothesizing things they may not include.
They can also add it straight into the game
I think posting it on YouTube or sth like Vimeo and then also a page on their website seems most likely
i know that is likely supposed to be eden castle, but i cant help but notice some similarity to this in wasteland. the stepped design almost looks the same, but like the spires were knocked off ( by wind or the shattering? )
theres a rather uneven spot at the top that makes me think its snapped off
Maybe that structure was designed after the eden castle?
But why dont sky kids dress up different for every realm. I think they would to keep their heart aka light which is fire safe. But from the other hand it sounds also not correct bc we can literally dive in water so. Idk anymore
I mean, you could. That's entirely on you.
They still keep their fire safe, using the respirator. A key component of fire is oxygen
Oohhhh well didn't know that
I love that they kept this in so I could actually realize that the passage masks are based on the old elder concepts
kinda reminds me of trials guide
like an anubis mask in the style of passage masks
What does the 🌙 moon symbolise in all those special areas where this appears?
for arguments sake, which areas are you counting that have a visible moon? the only ones that come to mind is starlight desert, and maybe moments, passage, and eden (not sure for the former two off hand, the latter has an odd shape that looks vaguely like a crescent in storm)
I thought it was the case for ark, but it just still seems mostly overcast, more so than treasure reef when it comes to the holes in the clouds opened up after... purple light quest I think?
Not Moments, if it's there, it's hidden in the clouds, and I really tried to spot it.
yes for Passage though, and the crescent is very sharp here, almost nearly gone, sort of like the way it looks in Storm.
Starlight Desert and Passage are both sort of dreamlike areas. And, though this is outside the context of the game itself, Moon in the Rider-Waite Tarot deck is unconsciousness, intuition, and illusions.
There does seem like there's a specific design choice in having the moon in these areas in particular, as the moon does not appear at Home (Night) nor does it appear in Orbit (though that may also be a bit of a special case, as Orbit is odd in a separate way from the other areas).
Actually, both Starlight Desert and Passage are also areas focused on journeys of self-discovery and growth.
The moon is visible in almost every area in wasteland if you go out of bounds high enough
That makes sense, but I've never gone out of bounds in wasteland.
is it a full moon or a crescent like the other areas here though?
it's some kind of crescent, I can go and make some pictures next time i go
it's interesting that it's a crescent too, that's nice to know :)
though I suppose it's not nearly as prominent as Starlight Desert and Passage, which make the moon front and center when you enter.
these are from the shipwreck area
ah so it is a moon, I had a feeling but I just couldn't see it properly.
I'm pretty sure the treasure reef also has the same moon, and the forgotten temple and graveyard area of wasteland too, but its harder to go oob in those areas.
You can see the moon if you look up from the hole in the clouds, maybe it's too bright but if you carry your camera and lower the lighting you should be able to see it
nah, I just remembered I was playing on low graphics haha.
I figure it probably shares the same skybox.
ye, also if you go high enough in oob the moon goes away and the sun comes out
Now I wanna go oob in wasteland, it's been such a long time since i visited those areas aksjsjsj
Ooh! Nice, I didn't notice that
Any known lore reason why there are no trees in sky that are alive? The forest ones all look petrified and you can't see any leaves on any of them, and the only other tree are the daily quests ones and the vault ones, both of which are more magic than actually alive. There are both pale blue, like other objects that appear in spirit memories and not the real world.
perhaps a side effect of the shattering?
If we think of them as petrified, something to note i think places like petrified forests in real life came about because of a huge volcanic eruption that engulfed the forest in volcanic ash and heat, so maybe the trees were alive before the shattering but whatever wave that went across the world took them out, and whatever was left of the branches and leaves crumbled to dust over the years and only left the biggest trees.
Grass still grows in some areas like how it can return after a volcanic eruption, i wonder how much more you could compare the shattering to one. The spirits being frozen in place and the different positions and groups the statues are in inside eden, also remind me a lot of how they found people in different positions in pompeii, literally encased in ash.
oh thats weird. i just saw this screenshot over in #eden-spoilers message which looks like the full eden castle was lifted into the sky. that image i posted last night was from an older youtube video - i wonder when it was changed
All the Wasteland areas are easy, it symbolizes dusk/night so the moon appears there. Starlight Desert is like midnight, so the moon appears there. As for the Passage Stone and Prairie Peaks, that's just the time changing
Besides the forest, where the trees are petrified, where would trees grow? Isle is a desert, Prairie is a prairie, Valley is the mountains, Wasteland is ruined...
Interestingly enough, we do see deciduous trees in Isle in the Two Embers teaser. Deforestation could have also happened
it was a lot more green during AURORA's song, yeah.
went and looked back, there are also some vines one of the characters moves away and walks through which have nice green leaves on em
These don’t look like dark stone. I like to thin they’re a limestone or quartz.
looks like the same kinda stone material as the temple but quite a lot brighter
also, looking more at the shape of temples, i think they'd fit that description far more than eden castle itself even though they're similarly shaped
If i assume that in the distance in wasteland is another temple, that makes like three of them in wasteland
The cave next to the constructor’s house is where they keep their manta
can someone tell me the lore behind tlp being the only who can talk and he also does not wear a mask/has more human like features. i find it fascinating also wasn't expecting his quest to be so sentimental

The Little Prince was a collab season, and the quests and spirits you meet during the season are based on the book, The Little Prince.
OMG SO CUTE IM GNA READ AND WATCH IT
omg i wish i would've stay during tlp such a nice season

interesting, not the first time people didnt realize it was a collab
Honestly, you can enjoy the season just as much even if you don't read the original work
hehe i just find it fun when games collab and there's some other media form of it
I have a loose theory: wasteland receives the power of fire from the prince when he completes the trials, right? We see this in the prophecy murals. But what’s interesting it the mural also implies that the turrets in wasteland are powered by this fire.
We see the monsters in fire trial, when they come close, have a smoke like trail that remind me of krill legs. What if the krill came from these beings, harnesses into turrets via the command of fire given to wasteland?
‘But Treva, krill have a blue light-‘ and in concept art we see a blue light coming from the turrets, not a red one. I acknowledge that concept art came before the game and changes were made, but seeing as the turret concept got replaced with krill, the turrets in canon were seemingly maybe powered by fire, and the creatures in fire trial bear a resemblance, I think maybe these creatures became corrupted, maybe if the turrets they were placed within to power (which wouldn’t be the first time ancestors used creatures to power something) were made of darkstone, and corrupted them. And their light turns blue and cold.
My last scrap of evidence is during ‘The Seed’ we see blue light streaking from the sky. I wonder if these were the beginning of the wasteland krill, streaking down from the sky as the turrets do their job to try and defend wasteland, even corrupted. (Yes they do come from above the clouds which I don’t have an explanation for but it’s just a theory lol)
Again, this may not work with the timeline and it’s a very loose theory, but I think the idea of some krill as corrupted creatures formerly of elemental light is kind of cool. I’ll attach the images supporting this.
Also, we see a krill depicted in the prophecy mural when there are not any other sources to confirm that krill existed at that time. Maybe it had to do with the fire trial? I dunno, definitely something weird though with the ball of darkness that drains light and the creatures within.
the ball of darkness I know about, but the light depicted is teal, and when you look at the Valley part of the prophecy murals it's also teal, and Valley is right above Wasteland
Yeeeeah that is the far more likely theory lmao I’m just putting up string on the cork board for fun
was thinkin about this earlier -
in the first three elder cutscenes, when they get the light, the clothes they're wearing light up, whereas the last 3 elders clothes dont.
its a big point of the cutscene with Isle elder, where their mask reforms and they get their eyes back.
prairie elder's clothes light up and they take notice of it and handle the light themselves when they do it.
forest elder is a bit different, their clothes light up after they snatch it from you, but they take little notice and just move on and grab the hammer.
valley twins bounce it around and then into the air, never touching any of it themselves.
the light we give the wasteland elder only causes the spear to glow
vault elder doesnt touch it either but rather has us put it into the crystal, which they even hand us to put into the air ourselves.
noticing in that image how flame, light and creatures mean more connection and community, whereas the ancestors and the darkness sorta is both technology, but also isolation.
the main bit i was thinkin about is sky kids and how i heard someone describe the outfits of sky kids to be basically made out of light, and I compare it to how some of the elder's clothes light up.
its like they begin to become more isolated and less about community over time, and in the very end its all technology and nobody touches or interacts with light anymore. its either something to be made into something, something to play with, something to put in your weapons ( against krill? ) or something to be stored away, best not touched by people.
Then why would they use it ? It doesn't have anything to do with the Sky we play now
That is quite corect.
Besides the forest ( which is more analogus to acid rain then petrificstion), none of the other realms would logicly have tree's in our era.
- Isle, Waistland and maby Voult (regions beyond starlight desert ), likely had tree's, but the devestation of the war and shatering took care of that😅
- Dailight Priery feels more like a grassland and shrubland ecosystem
- The parts of Valley we explore are too hight up and too cold for anything more them grasses .
Honestly the one real missed opertunity with adding tree's were Priery Peaks and the new Aviary. We even see breaf glimpses of Tree's with leafs in the teaser for the Aviaty, but nothing come of that in game
This does make me think that maby this is more a graphics and rendering problem then anythimg else🤔.
You must have tree's in forest becouse of ....well...forest😅, but most of the ones that arent cut down or destroyed are shown as trunks, with there tops obscured by clouds.
Trunks are waaay easyer to animate and process then all the branches and leafs.
The only tree's we do see are found the tiny memory ones, and the bloom tree which is for special event.
This does make my think that trees and vegitation besides grasses might not be as rear in universe as we might think, although it is still preaty rear in our era
Why do some spirits wear masks and others don't?
The three temples you mention in Waistland are crystal factory, and it is possible that there were canonicly more of them then the one we go through and the ones in the distance
It is inportant to note that there is a difference between regular temples and the main temple in each realm. We actually see this all the way back in Priery, where you have multiple shrine like temples for each of the village islands, and the main temple that is way bigger.
It does speak volumes about how advanced and prosperpous the land we now call Waistland must have been, if the size and complexety of multiple crystal temples are on the same level as the main temple in Forest
Easter egg for the players by the devs
@cold sparrow has a point
This is just a case of TGS re-useing assets and concepts from older versions of the story
Is there lore for the four mask in season of passage?
The imagery of the lynx mask and the forest elder is something that goes way back to the down pf sky concet. You cant blame them for wanting some of it to remain in the current game as an easter egg
Funny enough, this is not the only example of this. The same is kinda true for the Daylight Priery temple
Possibly, but this is more in the "lot of personal interpretation required' section
The way I figure it, masks had a segnificant meaning to the people of sky, boath social and spiritual
Surtain maskes were probably ment for people that proved themselfs in curtain ways
Like the prophets elements?
Possibly
Not all masks are equal of course, and some masks were probably more special then others
I can see that tbh
All the kids in the passage season seamed to be outcasts or suffered from social problems, and so they likely come to one of the Isle maskmasters, mostly for a special comeing of age spiritual training, by which they would earn special masks to reflect there groath
Serow, Monkey, Boar, and Racoon- if I remember correctly each mask has a different task would be cool if that relates to their specialty, I can't remember exactly what tho ;w;
What's the guide mask tho?- what animal of it base off
The guide mask is most likely a bear
Early designs looked even more bear
Your mostly right. Here is how it goes☺️
- BEAR is the season guide (Im guessing it more going with the mama bear teaching and protecting its cubs logic😅 )
- SEROW is the passage of reliance. Its the first forrest quest where you travel through the dark forest clearing darkness and debris, and is asociated with OVERACTIVE OVERACHIEVER.
- BOAR is the passage of assistance. Its the one in priery cave and is the mask asociated with MELANCHOLY MOPE
- MONKEY is the passage of coordination. Its the one in butterfly filds and is asociated with ODDBALL OUTCAST
- RACOOn is the passage of alignment. It is the one secund quest in forest with the flowers and is asociated with TUMBLING TROUBLEMAKER
It’s a cool flex
Imagine having a younger version of your face as a headpiece
also, its inportant to know that the guide crafter each mask to TEACH the pespective passages, which conferms that the masks are symbilic of specific status, affiliation, or in this case, specific vertues and comeing of age rituals
🤣🤣🤣
That's so cool! Ngl, since Aviary Village lets us have our big closet, I want the mask part where the season of passage guide is there
I totally agree
Honestly if they had 7 quests insted of 5 (aka add 2 more spirits), this might have been the case
I hope so,
Unrelated note, is the mask for spirits considered a religious thing? Like spiritual like you mention if so, wouldn't make the passage guide a mask maker/keeper?
I think so.
The passage guide IS a mask maker.
As for the religion thing, I see this more in terms of anchant civilization logic, where religion and culture were not so destinct and were quite intertwined
Ooh! Now that's interesting..
And true too
Its obviace that masks had a great segnificance to the ancesters, and had many meanings and functions.
My head cannon is that in ancester culture you were practicly naked without your mask
It would be like going in public with just an under shirt and your underware😂
It’s probably a fashion choice, similar to how we Skykids wear masks
(ok, maby ubderware is going to far, but you get the point😅 )
Yes, I do get your point xD
You were probably not considered properly dressed if you didnt have your mask
However I notice some mask has like scar shapes too- from one of the spirits in abyss- or I had mistaken them. .
they do
That was likely a case of no more mask makers to repear the mask in the time when the Abyss elders were alive
And the scars on there bodies getting transfered to the masks to some extent
Ooh- what about the one that has dark plants?
Oh and If I remember correctly one of this season's capes has a tear on it- is that part of this design? Or is it supposed to mimic a broken cape
Do you know of any other masks besides Abyss with large scale damage to mask
I dont wanna end up talking nonsence😅
Tbh there's too much spirts and cosmetics for me to remember ;w;
Thats not a dark plant. Thats a crystal like groath.
Its kinda similar to what happenes to us when we are in edan en are near death.
The way I figure it thats kinda analogus to scar tissue for ancesters, and it got hardened on the mask over time
Ah like scabs-
Exactly
They are sailors after all😅
From what I can tell (though this is still a working theory), the abyss spirits are chronologicly one of the latest sirits in the timeline.
- They are described as scavangers, finding remnents of active cristal as treasure.
- They seam to be expoloring this region after it collaps and become abandoned. And that place was super advanced in the first place
- There's also a memory of one of the spirits escaping a much smaller krill, which is quite interesting
I'll use this as a reference
I can see that tbh- and based on their personality as well we can tell the spirits can get a bit too greedy (which led to the downfall of Golden wasteland ig)
yeah, most of these are abyss masks. Might need to google the rest
I think that they lived in a time after the downfall of the Golden Waistland, so they might just have a lot of those tendencies as a result of there upbringing
My theory is that the abyss spirits lived in the early ages ages of the ERA OF STORM, after the great shatering and most of the war
An age when the ancesters were managing the best they could
And they accidentally released a beast 😭
Tho I would like to see the king krill return cuz impossible it would stay down there
I dont think he will
Krill need light as energy just as everything else. The difference it that dark creatures are kinda like black holes, constantly consuming and growing but not giving anything back
Aww qwq but that's probably the best- cuz I felt bad if new moths has to deal with that. . .
We released all the light that he had eaten, thats what all the fish were
So now he doesnt have the power to do much more
He was probably a bit too big, too unstabil to hold everything together😅
Tho in the caves, we see it attack the- nvm your right, probably
He did
and he was traped again
Aww, idk I just want to see it TwT
me too😅
My hope is that he might have a super short scene in the animation]
To be fair- we didn't close the gate back @-@..
I think it would like to jump and stretch itself once in a while xD (joking obviously)
funny enough, in the old concept art, we do see what happenes to dark creatures when they are starved of light
It might take a little bit of time for it to load for me
this is likely all non canon right now, but it is an interesting thing to consider
Ooh! I have seen this before would be cool
By we- I mean we legit just rescue a spirit and swim out xD forgetting to lock the thing- else, it has an auto lock system?
well...that doesnt really matter now does it😅
The 1000 eye beast is in the bottom of the deapest hole, and he isnt reacting to us even when we come near
Its doubtfull that he will ever consume enough light to get himself out of the abyss, let alone start hunting
(that is, unless we end up doing something really stupid😅 )
Looking at the one spirit right now (I forgot his name) side eyeing him
😂
Can you send me screenshot?
I must admit that there are a lot of things that I still dont understand or might have missed, so more in game lore examples are always apreciated☺️
Screenshot of what? Abyss?
the side eyeing spirit😅
Ooh, I mean us that side eyeing him xD
Are the spirit statue the place they died?
They probably are
It seems like it, ive always wondered if the memories we relive were like, their last moments or not
So the seasonal guides died in Aviary?
Cause their statues are there, we first met their spirit at their respective seasonal area, but we didn't light their statue
That was my thought too, they even react to being freed which is unlike any other spirit
I kinda got the inpression that the statues are almost ment to represent there bodies, or whats left of them
The light within them was nearly faded, ssave for the cool flame of starlight that made up there core of there souls
Yeah, its sorta the only physical thing left of em
( we also die in the same way in eden )
Im sorta split on aviary atm, either us freeing the guides there is sorta teleporting and snapping their spirit to aviary which really surprises the guides as theyve already been separate from their body, or - Aviary is meant to happen first, and we're sorta in some retroactive territory and we're actually the ones who freed the guides
For new players aviary will probably be their first seasonal / tutorial area after the game, so it fits that way
but its weird for all of us who have done the season before lol
I think it could be a retcon, in that this is where they originally died, and after we free them, they go to their seasonal areas
A prequel basically
I have thought about that before, and that makes me very sad as a lore guy......but that probably right😭
Although........
now that I think about it.....
We've never actually found any of the guids bodies🤔 ...
Hmmmmmm......
Ok, I havent actually finished the all the quests (just gotten to the third), so please corect me if Im wrong about this....but all the spirits in Aviary are season guids, right?
What if these particular spirits really did die in the aviary
All the guids come from seasons that leel like they happen latter a bit later in the timeline (again, pleese corect me if Im wrong😅 )
i dunno about it being a prequel, considering that you have to complete all of the season's quests before you can get the season guide in aviary - or at least that's how it was with the dreams guide. maybe this is where they died, and finishing their guide questline is more like reliving their memories?
So far theyre all guides yeah
I dont know about later in the timeline though, we have a flight paths connection in aviary which means flight guide could show up, and abyss guide had a huge front row showing in that fireworks festival video in #news
otherwise, im not sure about rhythm, dreams, or enchantment's places in time
they made a point in that trailer to use our current version of aviary so none of the signs or areas are repaired LOL but they did show abyss guide all over the place, so who knows
Is it just me or aviary village looks like the early beta version of sky
Is this supposed to be intentional?
abyss is deffinetly early storm era, while enchantmant is at the earlyest very late crystal era, so that tracks
The conection with the wind paths might not have anything to do with the wind path guide, but rather adding into the lore of wind path being kind of a nexis for the major wind curents of the world that conects so many regions
Rytham and dreams feel like late crystal era, but Im not entirely shure if they would be contemporary with storm and enchantmant
(for reference, crystal era starts with first descovery of crystal crafting, storm era starts with the great shatering, and ends with the comeing of the first sky kids😅 )
early storm era is preaty much the slow end of the ancester race, so its preaty much the end of ancester history)
It absolutly is
Thats why its called season of revival, and there are so many references to this place fealing familiar
This is TGS doing the concept of the aviary right after the changes and uncurtainties in Light awaits
Hmmm I see
just a semi related kinda tangential thought, something i find kinda interesting is how the abyss reef area looks blue and foggy/cloudy, instead of dark and a poisonous green like wasteland usually is. two embers shows wasteland looking more like the abyss area, which is really interesting to me.
must be so far away that the green hasn't gotten there yet. also dont see the storm around eden here either, heh.
This shot is deffinetly one of the most puzling things for me,and one of the things Im really cant wait to see in the animation😅
I honestly cant tell when this happened in the timeline, or what it might mean for the history of sky
i wonder if the abyss spirits could have been on their journey the same time as two embers
Im actually hoping the two embers series doesnt happen in one time period (or say, a period of just a matter of years or few decades)
Im hope is that there will be time skips, or at least that the two embers themselfs have there story's happening in independent time frames😅
i think we see some pre-storm and storm stuff, so maybe time moves pretty quickly over the series
I dont mind that at all as long as there are time skips happening in the series😅
i suppose we'll find out
This might just be my preferences and bias, but I want the world of sky to have a proper history that spans a good amount of time. Like from the start of the crystal era to the shatering, I want there to be a good few centures and not just squish everything together in a few generations😅
We know from the trailer that there are meny centuries at play here
I just dont want most that time to be taken up by the storm era😅
But we have, right? In aviary, the petrified bodies
It did appear in the early beta version of Sky, so yes
That’s interesting, as Salem really thinks all the seasons happen in a single century or less.
But it depends
Here’s how it goes for me:
-Season guides die in aviary
-Skykids revive them in aviary
-They go to the seasonal area, and we do the quests for them
-Season Guides then move between aviary and the seasonal area
hey yall whats a megabird?
https://docs.google.com/document/d/12XSkaMV_5UYG-an_Qo37ItyKP6GaqBBA6iRqBVE2qck/edit?usp=sharing excuse to share this doc
could be outdated idk. wait wrong one this doesn't have megabird
sobbing crying in cant find the megabird thing
in short: its this huge entity that was in the concept art and now alot of the lore people see as the god of the sky universe. from what I know its basically everything in the world in it as the light.
No, I mean we've never found the bodies of the season guides before comeing to aviary
Which would mean that us finding them now wouldent contradic anythings about the timeline or need a retcon, it would just change our understanding of who the season guids are
Hey, an acquaintance brought me here to ask the age old question, despite knowing the answer to this already though, what are the official genders of spirits? This was their question. I already know that the devs have stated that the spirits themselves are up to interpretation, but this person wants to know what lore chat thinks.
im of the HEAVY HEAVY opinion that all spirits dont have a gender or are nonbinary in some sense. Not only because basically none of the spirits have confirmed genders but I NEED A GAME OF JUST FULL NONBINARY/NON GENDER REP YALL.... sobbing crying
No canonical gender
They are agender at most
As they are genderless
Gotcha, thanks for your inputs!
Im more of the opinion that there gender fluid
they dont seam to have a biological gender, though many do demonstrate strong masculine or femenate trates and rolls.
Although like I said before, thats probably more a resoult of the specific character and developmant of the ancesters then any rigid biological gender thing
I think the same
the only thing id ask is that, if they never had a biological gender thing, how or why would they have masc and fem?
Thank you, this was moreso a question they asked because they thought they were misremembering.
Good question
The thing is that they do have genders relationship rolls like grandgfather, mother, boy, girl....
That part is kinda hard to ignore
The spirits are canonically gender-ambiguous. The spirits' genders, much like anything in the game, is up for personal interpretation. They are not canonically confirmed to be agender, just as they're not canonically confirmed to be binary. This explicitly invites nonbinary and agender readings of these people and their culture, but if people identify this or that spirit as feminine or whatever, they're also not wrong for that.
very true☺️
It just makes me personally uncomfortable to gender them because it could be fantastic non gendered or nonbinary rep to me. thats just me though, i agree everyone can think what they want
I mean, you dont need all of them to be non gendered to have good nonbinary rep😅
Are we ok to talk about the current season? It's ok to put spoilers here in general, yeah? Sorry, sorry to interrupt.
Also, they don't necessarily have relationships like 'grandfather', not ingame.
The most we have is on a meta level - I think the Bereft Veteran's introduction card mentioned them having a son, and the Belonging Guide is lovingly called 'grandma' by the community.
Ingame, there are no such terms. 'Grandma' is called Belonging Guide. 'Grandpa' is called Grandparent. They're purposefully given neutral names - at least in English (there are languages that are inherently grammatically binary, unfortunately, but even in those languages it is mixed up on random which spirit gets a feminine or masculine title).
Even the Bereft Veteran's kid - if I'm not mistaken - is never described either way ingame, we only see them.
it still would be AWESOME to have a whole world of just non gendered people, i really connected to the game by having that as my thought of the game so its what I keep thinking.
and if that makes you happy, all the power too you my friend☺️
Anything that is released in the live version of the game is a-ok to talk about here. Beta content, including quests of the current season that aren't accessible in the live version yet, are not. Neither is leaked or datamined content.
Oh nice
we also have gloating narcissist calling themselves the most gorgeous handsomest 'man', but honestly gender was the least of their worries. for all they could care, they could even call themselves mantas and no one would probably bat an eye
neogendered/pronouned... spirits....
gratitude guide fr
Missed that one. Might be so. The Gloating Narcissist is from the TLP season, though, and that line is directly referencing one from the original book. Depending on how canon you consider the entire season and its spirit, that may not say much about the world of Sky.
Good point
Still, I think I kinda agree wit @rocky grove with the opinion that gender was a non issue for the ancesters in the first place
W username
You’re right, aviary was the final resting place of the guides
Canonically, all of them use they/them pronouns, and are thus assumed to be genderless.
Is it alright if I ask more information about this?
Short aside-
In aviary quests 1 and 2, we find the dead bodies of Enchantment and Rhythm guide respectively. This means that they died in aviary, and it’s likely other bodies will appear when new quests come.
Also, I just noticed something interestkng about aviary while I was exploring/takeing picks 60 secunds ago
Anybody think these look super similar😅
Sigh, we really should remove the “spoilers” part of the channel. It refers to Eden spoilers, but the spoiler ban regarding Eden was lifted a long time ago. It should just be called lore-discussion or lore-discussion-live
That’s a direct quote from a book as well, in the world of Sky itself there are no genders
They both look like depictions of Megabird
I thought so😅
The reason why Im so fixated on the bodies is that, well, the elders dont have bodies eather ( they got blowen up in great shatering), yet we still meat them
Now come to think of it, we find barely any darkstone tech in aviary. Besides the opening door, there’s no boats or contraptions
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
How did I not emediatly conect the dots
Thats not really true
We do see this guide fixing the mechanism of the crystal ( had tinkering soundefects)
I mean 'we' can't do much
I have tried to send it in via contact the mods, and it was seemingly acknowledged, but nothing happened since
Oh, I was wrong
It makes me wonder how much aviary was flourishing before the Shattering destroyed it
Worth noting: These are not necessarily their bodies
Those statues are a husk of darkness that has formed around the spirit's shape of light
What happens to an ancestor's body after death - if anything - we don't know
Given that there were no more factoris at the time, and everybody were probably in a rush to get to safety, they probably couldent bring a lot of active crystals with them
Fair point
Still, its safe to asume that they were faded ( died) in the same region where we find the stature
Well, it does signify the last resting place for the ancestor spirit
I see it less that the shatering destroyed it, and more that the blight of the shatering eventually cought up to it🤔
See, I'm not so sure about that. At least the game isn't explicit about that.
If all dead ancestor bodies ended up like that, we would see far more statues around the wasteland. It is likely that they lived and died nearby, but I think the statues we find are mostly of spirits that - likely after their death - have wandered the area for some time, maybe sought out places of deep-rooted memories, and wandered them until they lost all their light and darkness engulfed them.
But we see no statues in Eden.
It’s entirely possible that the statues we see in game are only a small sample, and the rest have been destroyed or withered away
On another note, I know this is more a gameplay-discussion-spoilers thing
But why does Sky advertise itself as open world? It has a huge world, but the main story is extremely linear.
Thats actually a very good point🤔
Though then again it could be a gameplay limitation, haveing this selection of spirits being a representation of the ancestets in these areas for the befefits of the players
Jinx🤣
My though exactly
even open world games (as Fallout, Skyrim, Legend of Zelda) tend to have a linear 'main plot'
what defines open world is
denoting or relating to a video game in which players move freely within a virtual environment and may choose how to achieve objectives with relative autonomy.
the option to freely revisit old places, go off the main path and spend time with sidequests, exploration and such in no particular order or backtrack freely
But I would agree with @cold sparrow that the notion that these are literaly there bodies isnt fully proven, and his idea of the wondering spirit might have some level of validity
True
Counter argument
Its a proven fact that the world in universe is far bigger and more diverse then what we see playing the game
This is a mobile game after all
I'm not sure what this disproves about it being an open world game, gameplay wise
Not at all the point I was makeing😅
then I'm not sure what point you are making
I was trying to debate with Baud about whether Sky deserves to be labeled with the 'open world' game genre
That wasnt really the point me or Baud were makeing
The point is that some things that we experiance in the game have to be taken as representing much bigger, complex and more numerous things in universe becouse of the logical limitations of the game
Just compating the world in game and the trailers and how things are represented shows that
I don't think it's open world
That's fair. It certainly doesn't look or feel like a lot of games that typically fall into this genre. But it does fit the definition to some extent.
It's kind of like some old Zelda games, it's instanced but you can freely explore in that area
we see lots of statues in eden, at the end!
It could represent the king. I interpret it as being symbolic of the device used to create the eye of Eden crystal.
I always thought it’s whatever caused the crystal to break
Personally it looks like a sword without a hilt to me ^^
i kinda thought it looks like a spearhead pointed towards the crystal, heh.
also, i didnt know before today - but the winged light ontop of the crystal is a bit different than the singular ones we see, its two light kids in a hug
reminds me a lot of sorta what we do in eden after we die
What's the lore between the scene of the shattering shards? Is it like a frozen memory?
In essence, yes.
They're frozen memories of what happened to different creatures (and the Elders) during the Eden disaster. Memories of the creatures fleeing, the Elders getting exploded, that kind of stuff.
Shards of the shattered red crystal fell from Eden and absorbed the creatures around it, leaving them frozen in stone within the crystal.
This season revealed that the Krills were born from the Eden Crystal
And the moment of disaster striking.
Erm, when did the events depicted in the murals of season of the abyss happen then? I thought it was implying that krill were made there at least at one point.
Does anyone have a lore document regarding all or most of Sky so far? I'd like to read some if possible :0
The murals seem to predate a large amount of the game's lore, since the area seems to be a flooded mine. Though I don't think they made a krill, just that they may have studied light creatures, and were aware of the existence of the leviathan.
But I should go check them all again to be sure. I just remember taking pictures of a few of them.
oh now that I'm looking at the mural of the area with the light creatures in the tube, maybe it's for lighting the interior
nearly drowned while I was distracted
Touché.
You got me there
I wish the camera worked underwater...
the Lighthouse in the third image isn't a weird texture clipping, I scooted all over to make it appear correctly. so it seems it broke at some point before the mines were abandoned. or well, was attacked.
This structure is much deeper than the other mines depicted too.
Ooooo thank you. Lemme check for the full image somewhere else. I think it’s on the wiki? The last mural had it what I was thinking I believe. Also! Stupid me forgot about the krill that the angler saw. But the when did season of the abyss actually happen compared to the shattering is the question
Season of Moment part 2 maybe?? Underwater camera maybe xD ngl would be cool
Well, the part that we experience, with the treasure hunters is retroactively after the shattering. so it's pinning down the older portion.
granted, treasure reef is a distance away from the other areas, so perhaps it avoided the worst of it. or it was abandoned once it was completely cleaned from ores since the mural with the broken structure and the leviathan suggests that they didn't immediately leave after the first attack (making the rest of the damage due to time, and perhaps later damage before it was sealed away properly).
The first mural was less distorted before the shared spaces update with rememberance...
I wonder if the animation project will be able to give us some clear answers. I really hope that TGC is strict with the lore and it doesn’t introduce contradictions
Does anyone else here remember the abyss mural showing manta eggs making things that don’t look like mantas? Something akin to baby krill
I... didn't see a mural like that, and I even backtracked through the krill area. I also don't remember seeing it during the season
the bottom left mural is close, showing itty bitty mantas up in size to the large multi winged mantas. is that what you're thinking of?
Maybe?? They looked spiky tho. I’m gonna dig through some resources.
OHHHHHH. it was concept art
While concept art isn’t canon, I still find it really neat the possibility that experimenting on the eggs of mantas made krill
that's interesting yeah.
I don't know if mantas have ever been drawn like that, and they look like they are chasing the scholars.
darkness manta
But I suppose it's concept art.
eh, I'm not sure if these are small krill, krill have 6 legs and a different body shape. these look like skeletons of mantas, in a stylized way.
I can see them being krill with the singular dot eye, and 6 pairs of little legs, but that’s a lot of seeing what I want to see
(Ooo let me go look at the krill cape rq)
the krill cape has sort of bat wings, with a diamond backing for the back/tail, armorlike plates
Do all murals make krill look like:

?
Or are there other stylizations
do they show up in any murals besides the one in prophecy cave?
Good point! No idea
I'll go run around in game to see if I spot any more murals.
I want to check the one in eden.
Unrelated: shout out to Aurora for giving us so much insight into lore randomly
I run from the liars, the fuel on the Trial of Fire
Idk if the map shrine considers one. But I guess not??
So I ran all over, and I didn't find another stylization of krill.
the one thing I hadn't checked was the pattern on the water leading to office, I uh... forgot about it until now
one sec while the photos upload.
Actually, it kind of reminds me of the star shatter when loosing your winglights
Thank you so much!
The first image is at the enchantment area right?
Yep, it's the Ark! It's on the backside, opposite of the seasonal guide.
It’s so neat how these depictions date the murals as being after the creation of the first krill (at latest the shattering). Feels like real archeology haha
oooh i forgot about the ark one
weird tho since krill appears on the prophecy mural, would have thought that to be before their creation
the prophecy one kinda confuses me a bit though, as i im not sure if the murals there are supposed to be the prophecy themselves, imagine drawing a krill off to the side there without even knowing what it was exactly
yeah, it very well could be BEFORE which is kinda spooky. though tbh its very prophecy of them to show the kingdom at its height and sneak a krill in there as like a sign of danger LOL
There's also the possibility that they were just dangerous creatures, but not infested with darkness like they are now, since it's just dripping off them, just like dark crabs.
I saw from a fan theory that the prophecy of the murals is supposed to depict the king/prince.
actually, on this point, it reminds me of the murals by the crab dance spirit in ark.
(This isn't all of them, but this is the same relative order)
If people are bringing jugs it seems like they are taking water, but suddenly the crabs became agressive and chased them away (they left the pot behind). And only dark crabs attack you like that.
maybe they took too much water? the level seems lower, but i can't be certain.
Wasteland also has the poisoned darkness water, so maybe the two phenomena are related?
The darkness water is from pollution right? All the pipes in wasteland
I think this might be some kind of texture glitch😅
The tower is not sliced in half in all of my pics
I think normal crabs would fight you if they realized you were stealing their stuff-
...I blame the switch being undocked
Thank you though, for the full images.
Np☺️
maybe the krills act like sorta
Dummy obstacle to train the people who undergo trials
Like similar in botw
How there are bunch of shrine guardians that help train link combat
The krill like things in the trials act in a similar way as well just a cheap replication of the real things out there
That's my spin in the topic
P.S. The entirety of Season of Prophecy gives me major zelda vibes
( I am talking about the krill like things in the trials btw)
went and tried to confirm a thought on eden castle getting pulled super high in the sky during our ascent into orbit, went out of bounds to get a different angle, and only found out... the castle doesn't spawn if you out of bounds cheese
will do this again and try to get a camera angle next week i suppose without cheesing LOL
Yes, but they’re statues of Skykids. There are no spirits in Eden
I think it’s the King. It would make sense poetically, dying from your own invention
Maybe they were attracted to the Eden crystal as well, if you look at the poems
hey lore chat! this mysterious structure in beta just made its way into live in 23.5 (only on PC for now), does anyone know how to make sense of it?
That is interesting.
However, it is best to rather share it in Beta channels.
Sorry Luna
Any channels outside of #583370417041833988 are not allowed to discuss or share about what they are up to.
this isn't beta, it's in live!
I was just curious if anyone could find any connection to the sky lore with it?
Oh?
Why did you say it was in beta and not live?
apologies for the misunderstanding
I said it was originally added secretly in beta, but just made it into live with the newest version
23.5 is only available on the PC demo for now though
Where exactly is it for those of us that aren't on PC? (as in, since I'm not a PC player, I want to know where it is.)
Ah I see (I should have read it more clearly)
It looks like Vault. Possibly in the star collectors/ area?
it's at the tail end of jellyfish cove, in the middle of the sea
Kind of reminds me of a mural in forgotten ark with the two ancestors sharing a ball of light/magic.
Them sharing their light could represent a connection, bond, friendship. Similar to skykids sharing their with each other.
A friend said it’s reminiscent of Amah Rock: “Amah Rock in HK are two big boulders atop a hill and the legend goes it's a wife + child waiting for the husband who went out to sea who never returned so they turned to stone waiting”
Where exactly are these murals in ark btw?
I also really thought this represented a bond or a connection. The strange thing is, is that it showed up at the same time the low tide in the jellyfish cove showed up (something we’d never seen before I think?).
For now, it’s only on the demo yes!
also, I've been told that the arrival of this thing has lowered the tide of the area altogether
on the forgotten ark itself. I am getting a picture of it real quick.
(btw, general note that pc would usually have the latest version of the game. At least it should with how Steam would prioritise it. Mobile players may need to update their app to be sure they can find this)
The update just plain isn't released for other platforms yet
Yeah, PC is ahead for now. Update hasn’t released for other platforms indeed!
Fair point.
The PC version is a trial version. A somewhat in between for beta and live.
The true live version of PC game has not been officially released yet (afak)
not yet, yeah
kind of a case for players getting their cake, and eating it
Perhaps it's for Days of Love, when that comes out? Maybe it's being set in the Starlight Desert this time around
Yeah I guess it’s a bit tough right now figuring out what is a spoiler and what not in this case.
A friend speculated it has to do with DoLove, and I think that would be really nice to have that event a bit stretched out / if it was given its own area
it's quite early for days of love though, since there's still feast and fortune before it...
I find it hard to believe they'd tease days of love before days of feast...
Maybe a small thing to note for the shrines in Starlight: when you come close, there are 2 butterflies ‘set free’ from the shrines.
There’s also a ‘lonely / wilted’ flower in the back, on a much smaller island
they did tease Aurora before Shattering tbh
yep, and the butterflies come out with little honks too :o
hmmmm, I could believe it if they were planning a collab for DoLove! collabs are usually teased long in advance
It would be very strange imo, having a collaboration for a temporary event
We already have Assembly and Dreams for the Days Of events, maybe they're trying to make sure every season has an event to itself
huh, so is it a TLP reference instead?
since the ending, the narrator is told by the prince that looking at the stars would remind him of the prince's laughter...
Found the mural in forgotten ark with the ancestors sharing the light.
It may be a stretch for them to be connected to the friend statues.
Also, I swear this mural has changed a bit since the season ended.
There is another mural with a child ancestor with an older one releasing the light. ❤️
isn't that the mural on the next fragment, with the child releasing the light? I looked at it yesterday, took a photo too (but it's still on the console)
Apologies, I now understand what you meant with your message.
I wonder if the later part of the mural where the boats were struck and the ancestors fell. That the priest ancestors were specifically 'punished' for keeping the light and taking it away instead of releasing it like the other ancestors in the earlier section.
Here are the current seasons with no Days Of representation: Rhythm, Prophecy, TLP, Flight, Shattering, Aurora, Remembrance, Passage, Revival
all my krills, greeting me here as a friend
I'm home, waiting for time to let go...
I could see the later seasons in other events
Like perhaps Passage for Days of Fortune, or Flight for Days of Nature
Days of Music brought some of the rhythm spirits with it for the group visit (but not sure if that counts?)
Group visits don't count, but Rhythm is boring enough as a season anyways, that's all they get
well I suppose, but the group visit was specifically for music, not just for fun like the assembly visit (to give people the chance to get props for Rememberance) or the visit during Moments.
I'll be honest, a TLP encore would be pretty cool, but it's probably not that...
I was looking for other meaning as well, but it kind of makes sense if it’s just a TLP reference. Both the Rose and the Prince passed (iirc?), there is a flower wilted on the smaller island behind the shrines.
The two shrines do share a bond, and (white) butterflies are believed to represent loved ones who passed in some cultures.
Not sure! I’m not tooo familiar with TLP (or shrines)
It might if the rhythm group would stick around.
I'd love to see if TGC would expand on that little interaction between season spirits like that.
I hope next time, there might be a musical, or a parade for the ancestors and skykids to take part in.
bit late to this discussion, but there was a huge cloud area added to the map top right of the TLP area when it was reworked on the map and the entrance to it changed, do yall think those two statues could be somethin connected to that at all?
it's ambiguous if the prince dies in the end. he is bitten by the snake, who claims its venom would send him back home. the narrator never finds a body.
one statue is also a little smaller than the other.
it just might! I think the tiny chance of jellyfish cove becoming the entrance to a new collab area is there
Hmmm I don’t think it’s related to a (future) collab, other than just TLP. Maybe something else entirely but I don’t think this will be an entrance to any other season (I can be wrong!!)
hmm, i didnt consider collab entrance but thinking about it, that little elevator room is only connected to collabs
it probably won't, but I wouldn't rule it out 100% :0
the collab hub being released now hints that the next season might be a collab, or I'd find it weird to have that place added when it only leads to two areas
Now that you mention the butterflies.
There is a notable moment in season of Auora's concert that had 2 butterflies mingling with each other.
(spoilers for Aurora's concert, moths be warned)
Right at the climax, where all seemed lost and Aurora sings, Through the Eyes of a Child, two butterflies fly together and they bring a few embers of light.
Other creatures eventually came and did the same, until the light helped revive the skykids (who represent the souls of the fallen) and Aurora plays the role of Megabird (in my interpretation) and takes them to Orbit.
The statues therefore could also be a reference to hope, or closure.
Almost like a graveyard statue of two figures facing each other. ❤️
is the only seasonal area that connects directly to another seasonal area Dreams and Performance? And windpaths I suppose, though the entrance is still vanilla forest.
yeah, that's the only case iirc
my brain picks up on two butterflies, embers, two statues one taller than the other... tale of two embers anyone?
hilarious thought: we get a season of embers questline that lines up with episode releases LOL
I figured us lore goblins would perk up at the mention of ember XD
Yes, I like to think (at least hope) it might be related to Two Embers.
Ahhhh I completely forgot that sequence from the concert, thank you for bringing this up
.
You’re right! Loss, a connection, a bond, love but also togetherness. If it does portray a story of two beings that passed, the butterflies do make it feel as if they’re still connected
the most plausible references are two embers and TLP itself, I'd say, but the semi-submerged structure around it all should also be taken into account I think
The low tide ties into that somehow as well, but I’m not knowledgeable of that
TGC seems to like to add these sombre, but comforting areas to Vault.
They tend to group certain emotions to the realms a lot.
Vault represents old age (elderhood), so the lingering feeling of death looming in people's lives seems to fit.
This exactly! It’s a bittersweet feeling when I’m there
I have not seen a lot of discussions on emotions related to the realms much on here.
We should do that sometime
would be wild for them to give little hints towards two embers in aurora, but i'd bet they've been planning it for a long time, or had ideas down
i've caught onto your schemes TGC
here's the whole thing from up high and viewed from the sea's side! is it just me, or do the little island with the flower and underwater staircase resemble a candle?
rambling thoughts:
would tale of two embers even be considered a collab season, if they're the ones doing it? or is it maybe just that its sorta an outside game thing as to why it could have an entrance over by the TLP area
could also have made that elevator room so they can stop cluttering up existing areas with infinite new entrances, they allow them to go further and further into the maps and then give us a teleport after we've been there once
what's the elevator room? Sorry, everyone keeps mentioning it, but I only know the main lift
if you head to starlight desert on PC you enter a mini elevator room
Where??
it has a warp to TLP and Aurora, you dont connect directly to starlight from vault anymore
here's the updated vault map!
I don’t know how two embers would have an effect on the game, or as a collab, since it’s made by TGC
I originally thought it would be a whole map area for TLP but... i walked around and found no map shrines anywher
It looks wayyy too big to be one area, and the coloring is a sort of yellowish-white, similar to Home Island… maybe it’s just a placeholder?
I forgot to mention that this whole new cloud area is one of the reasons why I believe jellyfish cove becoming the entrance to a new seasonal area is possible
I figure it might be something simple like reliving some of the memories of the two, maybe following their journey ingame in sync with the episodes as they release over a season.
It’s very likely Hopeful Steward is one of the two embers, and the other is the king, who… didn’t have the best fate
here's what the collab hub looks like for those who aren't on PC!
is the map shrine there not active yet?
it is! it's this map right here
WOW, IS THIS IN THE LIVE GAME!
WHARE DO I FIND IT IN VOULT??
oh I see, my mistake.

Just dropping this off to make looking up emotions and the realms easier in the future.
so. many. empty. frames.
I hope to see more of them filled with new seasons/collabs
(something tells me future collabs might not all be seasons in their own right. Some may even be stand alone events)
Hay wait, this isnt how the map looks for me
What give🤔
PC got an update before the other platforms
Aaaaaa, ok
So Im guessing the colab area is from the new update too?
that's what I'm thinking, since it'd take decades to fill all the floors you can fly up to of this thing with collab seasons
Oh right, can someone post a picture of the wilted flower by the statues that was mentioned. just curious, since I can't see it for myself.
oh just a regular flower, like the ones by the hedge maze, alright.
Sky will probably only end once it becomes unprofitable, but TGC predicts it will shut down in 2029. Meaning around six new collab seasons, if they keep up the pace
to note about the two butterflies: if you stand here two of them spawn
I counted 7 murals with 2 filled out🤔
Hmm...that would put it at the 10 year aneversary of Light Awaits
Preaty good run😁
I feel like I should also mention that you can find a decently-sized patch of clouds if you clip out of the elevator, only to one side of it, possibly connecting it to the big cloud patch in the vault map
and the plase is filled with stars all around, even if you're not meant to see any of it normally
the room is immensely tall
is this the new area from pc, or someething in the voult proper?🤨
it stretches out to many more floors if you go out of and back in bounds to pass the barrier, even above the void zone
👀👀👀👀👀👀
Good lord
oh wow LOL i didnt think to out of bounds
I stopped exploring when I got to the void zone because I'm terrified of voids and had to ALT+F4 the game 😭
this kinda reminded me of the avatar statues from the southern air temple in Avatar 😂
vault really has that vibe
