see, I believe the trials themselves happen more in a mindscape
we meditate at the altars to enter these trials, we don't walk through a door to these void-y places
but that doesn't mean the season itself is not canon
these spirits are very much there and have trailed younger ancestors to master their skills and overcome their fears
Just because it’s a mindscape/alternate dimension doesn’t mean it’s non-canon
Huh?? Resh stans only came after Prophecy
Please tell me this is all an elaborate joke 💀
yeah and like why would they add something and then not expand on it if it wasn't supposed to be canon in the first place
How many seasons have colored lights appeared in?
YOU GET IT like
what even was the point of making the pendant that shape if it wasn’t that situation
also Aurora features colored lights but not red or purple. perhaps those two weren't included because they're irrelevant to the canon
My color light elder hc, gone
if there's one thing I've learned in my time here it's that something doesn't have to be canon to make theories out of
prophecy is canon (in my heart)
Fair
Omg just like resh
yeah you get it
the similarity of the season icons is super interesting actually i never noticed that
also worth noting that the new one has a circle shape, with stars. it could be depicting one of the lights, maybe?
they leave a sparkle trail
I find interesting because I’ve never, in any fandom that has open ended lore, be so heavily invested in Resh/King when they’re clearly a concept art character. And was made when sky was still deciding on what it wants to be. Not saying they don’t exist because there is (an albeit very faint) reference to a ruler but people use their concept art interpretation as if it’s fact.
Like I’d love to do a paper on why concept art is so heavily used as evidence in sky lore, because it’s insane. I’ve never seen anything like it
there is a ruler but that ruler could very well just be the Light AKA Megabird
Like so many folks see concept art as cannon and I can’t decide if it was a chain reaction when the game was still new or another phenomenon
it's probably because the lore in the game itself is very vague and indirect and piecemeal
so people interested in the lore look for other sources to fill in the gaps
Yeah but even so in games that are also opened ended I’ve never seen anyone dive into concept art so heavily as of sky if at all
I genuinely want to study this one day
its very interesting yeah idk how it only happens with this game
i think it's the difference between
A game in ongoing development, that's a bit too vague to tell anything, and everyone's grasping at straws and fighting for what should be considered canon
VS
A fully done game that's just as vague in the actual story, but has a lot of secrets to find to piece it all together and an encouragement that technically no theory is ever going to be right
maybe weve just seen different fandoms but fandoms love to make up a guy from a bg character or outta thin air, usually for fun or to explain smth and because sky can be vague ppl use resh to explain things, fandom ppl love to oc-ify things
honestly if you want an example of folks grabbing a concept art character n just running look at priestess theyre clearly not coming back but like bro that’s not stopping me from digging them outta the bin and building onto the character with pals until it’s our own little fanon thing it’s fun
salute to priestess fans
Oh my god yeah
All they get are their six statues outside valley coliseum
don’t mess with priestess fans there’s 7 of us and we will bite you
Yea but you see people here come in considering the king like they’re a totally real guy in game they center their theories around
yeah definitely get what u mean, its a weirder case than the usual make up a guy bc sky lore is messy, average sky lore moment
if there is any actual ruler in the universe of Sky they're obviously dead now. Eden kind of exploded where their castle would be.
turbo hell
Double dead
working with literal crumbs
o7
Whether it's they somehow turned into the Eden diamond or simply died because it was created, we will probably never know until it's about another 2 years in the future and there's a new Eden season
that's samekh
Eden would be Alef or Resh, and the realm itself is called Storm
wait yeah how the hell did pristess get their name again in the first place?
samekh is the earliest form of the valley elders so i don't think it's that
There’s a piece of Zhao concept art that mentions the priestess
ahh that explains it
OH lower part of the second image. there's a translation for the text on it
i didn't realize you were talking about a different concept character, that's how irrelevant the concept art gets sometimes
I'm so sorry, I had to
Well, goddess
HELPPPPPPPPP
im gonna be honest i don’t understand the idea that the king/resh is solely a concept character cause like. We see elements of their presence ingame through those statues or shape motifs involving their silhouette
like there isn’t an explicit statement of oh hey this dude exists but for a game where the lore is Open Ended and up to interpretation where people view things from different perspectives depending on the information everyone is presented with wondering why people lean so much into them when they’re “clearly” a concept art character seems a little silly to me
like we don’t know for Certain if they are or not till tgc says it themselves i dunno
something about it feels a bit dismissive with all the varying interpretations people build not sure if im explaining it right
Oh right the imgur album that broke my browser, thabks
no i completely agree, some devs mention the king but its so vauge and long ago that you dont know how to build upon it or if it's still up to date even
that's why i'm saying, we'll have to wait until there's another Eden season to figure out more. By this point that's the only place we're going to be able to get information
the thing is that the motif of the King has definitely been reduced since their conception in the concept art
like, in concept art, we see that it was originally intended that you actually face the King-Turned-Into-Eden-Storm on your final journey up the mountain
which we don't have ingame anymore
which is a sign that the devs wanted to change up the role of this King figure in some way
Yeah I get what you mean, I do think they’re a character that’s part of the story of sky, like i doubt they’re meant to be completely nullified from the story, and have just been changed from concept art, theyre a character meant to be shrouded in mystery and ambiguity which makes them a weird case for a lotta ppl, i think making up stories is fun for them HELL I JUST DREW THEM YESTERDAY and I get why ppl make narratives/theories hinging completely on them bc in concept art theyre made up to be rlly important (when i say make up a guy i sorta mean ocify it, i do it all the time, i dont mean to present it as bad, its fun!) its just tgc in canon doesn’t present them concretely/forwardly so its a time for theorists
there's a tiny shape at the very top of the elder shattering memory but there's no way to tell what that means. it does kind of look like the shape of the king's mask from the concept art, and looks like a reflection, but is that telling us they're in the diamond or that their entire purpose in being part of the lore has been replaced by it? the latter is probably the most interesting answer, if it's even intended to look like the concept in the first place
I think that the reason we continue to see so many symbolism associated with the concept art King is because the decision to change/replace them for something or someone else was made late into the development of the game, maybe even after the game hit the global release, so now instead of completely getting rid of all that symbolism they're trying to salvage what they have and trying to make it fit into the new narrative
ya im thinking that's what happened too. Yet they changed the memory candles to power diamonds which was confirmed to be to better fit the lore so i dont know why if they changed that, why not change the king narrative aswell.
No definitely. Like I love memeing on the king, but on a very serious note we have been told they play a supposedly "active role" in the story (as of almost 3 years ago) but until we know how large or small that role was I think it's really hard to say whether or not they're worth centering theories around. We do see something that resembles their head a bit in the shattering memory, and they do have a bunch of statues everywhere so they were probably doing something relevant. I never really understood calling them not-canon in that sense. Furthermore, the king has a lot more evidence for existing than some beloved seasonal spirits did before their seasons came out. You can't find one bit of evidence for any prophets, for example, in the game early 2020 and yet suddenly, magically, they appeared with a ton of lore relevance. It's not crazy to say the game and it's story is still developing and we may not have seen everything there is to see about the king yet (<---delusional)
name that we use to better describe the figure in the prophecy and eden mural, alot of us agree resh/king is in a weird outdated limbo of sorts
honest answer? because Aurora is a real person who had just been brought into this as a collab season for a limited time
As I said, there's a chance that they simply came up with a narrative that, while different, still was able to utilize that same symbology but in different ways, so they felt no need to replace to change everything
Also I don't think anyone ever cared about memory candles the way people care about the concept art king
sorry but hard agree and disagree with that, jut doesn't fit on what ive observed at all, plus with what rooty said.
fair enough, guess what i mean is the devs are willing to change things out of the blue to better fit with the story
Maybe seeing how important that figure is to the bigger Sky fandom, TGC had decided to not make such a sudden and big change to avoid potential backslash
some of the songs, like the intro song, had different vocals originally
I believe the season of aurora was in the works for a while, over a year, but i don't think TGC meant to make her anything more than she currently is in game - a singer that is performing a very magical concert
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1FQgj2Ii1A9p1kSly9rehvZU-fPsKtGazuEGvE3Od-Bg doc one of my friend salem made of all the murals ingame, so youll be able to find them there
I'd imagine they wouldn't have waited three years to put any sightings of her in game if this was the case
there may be a distinction between a collaboration in the sense that tgc uses it and using a voice in that manner
again, those originally had different vocals
they just probably changed those because Aurora has a very beautiful soft voice
yeah that too, like if they did want to put emphasis of them being a larger character in sky's story they'd be sooo much more hints and buildup, but you only got the mural and harmony hall. Plus aurora was way smaller three years ago if i recall? i only say this because yes, they got new vocals, i believe they used aurora's voice in orbit for the reason astral stated
and now that she's more wellknown with a larger audience, plus that her values and songs harmonize well in sky, can be seen why the two collabed again for her season
it's fine enough to have an idea like that, but try to be conscious of what you assume to be evidence
there's no evidence that TGC accounted for Aurora to be part of this before the launch of the game
I think there is a character, that Aurora represents but you cannot say that it is AURORA herself. The actual person and the character that came out of it are different, and since it's a collab, it is very likely not canon in the first place so most people wouldn't even consider the sky version of aurora a character that has ever existed
It makes sense, at least to me, to say that Aurora as a character is a representation of the Light or simply the sky world's version of mother nature, but they are likely not the same thing
I think in general if you put something out into this channel you open yourself to questions and or doubts about it, is something I've noticed
There is this, which I'm not sure is referring to Aurora herself playing a role in Sky or her self-insert playing a role in the show, but someone is representing something. I know there was a publication saying she wrote the stories for the quests so, hey, you never know
Just to me from I’ve seen, like almost all my sky friends didn’t know who she was, including me. She started her musical career in 2012, but she didn’t really take off until runaway got a lot of traction in 2014, which was like 3 years before sky released. Not saying she was unknown everywhere, but to her in the America’s I can’t rember anyone talking about her once until her season in sky
i learned of aurora from the season
(I think they're talking about both her and her self-insert given Alasdair's comment) I think the "voice actor" comparison might be the one that makes the most sense, she herself isn't a part of the story but rather just uses her voice to narrate it
Ya that’s what I think too
Bear in mind this is a machine translation from a Chinese website but it goes:
At the beginning of the creation of the season, Aurora sent us her ideas, and she proposed what kind of stories and rich experiences her songs could evolve in "Sky". Those suggestions were very useful to us, which made it easier for us to understand her creative desires and help us reach a common goal.
Aurora was deeply involved in the creative process of the entire season. She provided the music for Aurora season all from her core works, and provided the story, characters, plot and more for the songs of the four season missions. She suggested in-game clothing design and provided her own thoughts on all game design and narrative details. [...]she also witnessed the changes in design details and changes in story details with us.
During development, many of Aurora's original suggestions evolved as the seasons progressed, and I think players can compare her annotations for the song 'Runaway' with what they saw in the first season missions, so as to understand the creative process of Aurora. She wrote in her proposal that 'a little boy... I feel we have to help him across the ocean, we have to help him get home. But he's lost. Maybe we can let him know and we can take him into our own. ? Let him have a home here too?'

I've used machine translation quite a few times and usually when it comes to languages that greatly differ from english they're extremely unreliable, I think we'd need somebody that actually speaks Chinese to take a look
That is why I added the disclaimer
for some reason my brain can't understand this very well
you just have to say the different between actual aurora vs spirit aurora, but there's 3 different parentheses that aren't needed for context
I feel so honored that Aurora was there until the very end, witnessing all the design changes, story development, and cosmetics, and even creating new ideas alongside her. Wow, I’m in love!
I know, but I'm not sure if others in this chat have a good idea of just how unreliable machine translations can be
the same passage from an english article with an interview:
So on an Apple Music interview, on the Travis Mill show, Travis asked her what the most difficult part of working with [us] on this concert was, and she said it was for her to pick 7 songs out of her entire portfolio. When she picked the songs, I asked her if she could give us some inspiration. So she gave us descriptors.
Like with 'Runaway,' she said "It's a small boy, I feel like we have to help him over the ocean. We have to help him get home. He is lost. Maybe we can show him that he can belong with us. Have a home with us."

i just back from therapy to establish myself as a King Believer. no these are not connected. unless??
but in all seriousness i’m also in the same boat as @fickle wing in regards to “the king’s presence in the game more or less confirms their existence as a cannonical lore character via the environmental storytelling and designs found in the world and the murals involving the chosen one.” i only really call the ruler the King just because it’s the most popular due to concept art. i’m of the opinion that there are still a lot of things we can determine through the concept art and that some ideas shown there can still be applied to the world of sky even as their ingame depiction is heavily reduced and based solely on inference
oh also the preformance stories those are huge for me
I love the aurora went to TGC to do the collab, and they're like "oh hey yeah that could work!" and just basically drag her into the concept room with them. I can imagine her looking at outfit design concepts and just going "yes" if there were too many good options
could be one reason why we have so many different cape colors, honestly
Yes, even if they existed in the world’s history they don’t exist now
well haven’t we had dev confirmation on them being somewhere they can’t be found/saved am i wrong?
Yeah! Sky has a major focus on symbolism
actually, it was TGC that suggested this to Aurora! see the interview in my link above
and I know there are some videos on twitter about how they collabed on this
ah yeah, that might just be the translation messing up focus direction. very glad that either way, i get the same kind of image.
i do wonder if she knew about the company before they reached out though
i always find it super funny when two people (or groups of them) do a collab because they're mutual fans
For Prophecy, why not make it canon? What reason is there that it’s noncanon?
I've finally backread far enough to see that the king discussion rose from a (I'm assuming?) bait theory so I'm just gonna leave this here and go have breakfast while you all tear each other apart over nothing. Have fun 😊
If it doesn’t extremely break the world’s rules or contradict previous stuff, it should be counted as canon
sky coma theory
This goes for all seasonal content, though. There’s no evidence that TGC accounted for any season-related lore to be part of it.
Th-that was bait? 😭
Either it was an elaborate welcome party or a lesson on the importance of tone indicators
what was bait i didn't see it
I can't really say for sure, I'm terrible with tone too
welcome back though!
i popped in to chat when we were talking about the teaser and Prophecy possibly not being canon i know nothing of what was before that
#lore-discussion-spoilers message
This came right after I had rejoined
you left the server at all?
oh right I was wondering what had happened with that
wb!
So now that I've had breakfast it's time for a new tinfoil hat theory: I found a series of light pillars in the repository that take you way up high to a point where the back of the repository is illuminated and you can only see the shadow, so my theory is that the area is one of those puzzles where you look from a certain perspective and a bunch of little pieces make a shape
That, or there's another pillar somewhere that takes you up higher and I just can't see it. Unfortunately I am both bad at puzzles and have terrible vision
i will go take a look real quick
that spot seems like something important, i think the little manta outside even takes you to it
The shattered memories have poems?
Yep! It does. Considering how hard they are to see, it's definitely something of interest
there's also some waterfalls along the same route that come from nothing. that's interesting
I know well enough by now not to cross any possible hidden secrets off as too ridiculous or strange so I'm open to any ideas
gonna follow the manta for a bit and see if there's any other stuff it takes me to
Yeah I saw those! I circled the whole perimeter of the area and those waterfalls and the light column/pillar things both stood out
also a tip for finding stuff like this: the honk of your skykid and the manta can "illuminate" the stuff in the distance to make it easier to spot
in the floor of vault with the big cosmic manta, if you do this, there's another one so far off in the distance that you can only see it by using a deep honk because the sparkles don't show up
The honking only seemed to illuminate stuff like the waterfalls and manta but not the other things
they do
they were only posted on social media, but you can find them on the wiki
there's no higher light pillars that i can find and i'm not seeing anything else
Interesting
I feel the most sky lore that you see is when doing aroura
Sky has A LOT of lore, and I mean a lot. Almost every season has some sort of interesting lore relevation, and there are even things outside of the game like the Season of Shattering poems, 7 days of Sky, and the upcoming Sky Animation.
I'll have to look deeper into that 😄 sounds very interesting
I think it depends on how you measure lore. Aurora certainly condenses a lot of the overall story and time frame, but it doesn't go as in-depth as other seasons that dig into one particular aspect of the story. For people who prefer the bigger picture, Aurora certainly had a lot to offer! But I think the base game and other seasons also have a lot, just in small, bite sized pieces
I run from the liars, the fuel on the Trial of Fire
I see ^^
Mood 😭
Actually been obsessed with that song lately
you’re right… I typed that message and then vanished for 8 hours because I was feeling a little silly, sorry about that, it will likely happen again
Salem pressing enter and running off into the woods
I was feeling mischevious
i respect it honestly
reminds me of a cat knocking over a cup
More like a vase or something
i wanna know how this’ll play out
LIGHTSEEKERSSSSSS
Mano, what do you think about the covers in sky cotl?
Like, in our shadow they don't appear kind of spiritual maybe just that there are several covers that look like cloths that cover a table for example lol
Are dark creatures a natural evolution?
leading theory is that the capes Skykids wear are actually made out of light, while the ones the spirits wore were made from real cloth
yes
also can someone explain the overall basis of sky lore, i have 0 knowledge of it and would like to make things make sense 😭
Do you have any thoughts in your mind about it so far?
I would love to hear your guesses.
like just from my knowldege now?
There are resources here that can give an overview, I unfortunately don't have them on hand. But before you read those it would be interesting to hear your thoughts so far!
Yes, just from your experience playing the game.
idk, i like to think eden used to be some nice place where sky people lived until it got corrupted by who knows what
I think that's a good start! Sky is definitely a once-thriving kingdom that fell to ruins. A popular theory is that crystal you see in Eden was overcharged with light until it exploded, causing ruin.
Light is a common resource in the game's environment now, but I wonder if it was as common back in the days of the kingdom.
What are your thoughts?
wdym light?
Light, like the stuff we collect from candles, fire, and what the Light creatures are made of!
It's what powers up Skykids too.
ohhh, i think it was probably common but then they got corrupted and they didnt have anymore light (which is probably why they went downhill)
and then as time went on the creatures just kind of learned how to bring it back
skykids are survivors aren't they?
I have this doubt if skykids are beings of light or have systems in their bodies similar to ours like digestive system, respiratory system since they can eat normal food like marshmallows.
I have a theory that they are both, in this case they have a body like ours but they also have a source of light in their bodies as well as all nature in the world of sky
thats a good theory! I think that they went back and forth, like they were both, but then cause of the corruption they kinda just stoped having that source of light, and then regained it when nature figured out how to do it themselves
good point, but us skykids are somewhat like a new being not like the spirits and ancestors they all went extinct for some reason that is why they are called spirits, we do have some similar traits from the children in the Eden that lost their light and turned into statues, maybe us skykids and the other statue of children are like us. Furthermore, we descended from stars that is why we are light being, just like the light creatures, just like the children in the Eden, they also came from the stars or they are (we) are somewhat likes stars
that is what it says in the murals in the isle of dawn, like from the very start of the game, you may see a shooting star like even after we finished Eden, we go by a star and land and descend back to home
What are spirits? Like are they the dead people themselves or just like memories of dead people?
they are spirits, they may not be living but they still have their memories in tact with them, and as for the seasonal spirits everytime we help or at least ease up the spirits sorrows, everytime we end the seasonal quests, we will see every seasonal spirits that is a part of the season ascends in the sky, everytime we finish their quests, all the spirits from that season ascends in the sky, its like they are already passing because we have already accomplished our role, goal and quest for them.
its like they have already finished their unfinished business because we do it for them through doing quests and finishing them.
What's the criteria for ascending?
maybe they have already fulfilled something they havent done doing when they were still alive
This document can help a little! https://docs.google.com/document/d/12XSkaMV_5UYG-an_Qo37ItyKP6GaqBBA6iRqBVE2qck/edit
Spirits are kindof like ghosts. They can’t really physically interact with the world, but we can free them from their fate on the earth and allow them to ascend to Orbit, like we do. From there, they can either stay in Orbit or come back here (such as traveling spirits)
-If this is Eden king, why are they depicted elsewhere totally differently (with the star shaped mask)?
- what's the current consensus of what happens in this mural?
worth pointing out is that there is a star symbol featured in this mural, on top of the castle (?)
idk if there is much of a consensus for this mural
I've seen someone say that the figure in this mural look like in agony
to me, it looks like they're consuming something (a ball of light, perhaps? or darkness?)
it could just as well be a revering expression, holding up a sacred artifact of some sorts
it seems very obvious tho that this figure itself is revered by the people, being put above all others, and depicted huge in a sort of hierarchical scale (as has been used in ancient egypt or medieval art as well)
does anyone know the meaning behind this bird at the gate before the golden rings area? in valley of triumph.
It used to be an old quest before global launch, after you collect all light fragments you free/summon the bird
But since those quests are defunct now the bird lies there since launch
thank you!
I think real people's deaths is not something to make theories about
I am fairly certain most of the spirits in the office represent current members of the team, but TGC did recently lose one of their members. Don Heim, an IT manager on the team, had their text on the teams website changed to be 'in memory of'
This is based on content that’s currently in beta btw; and also agree with what Rooty said
So ik the elder names were canon before they were scrapped and made fanon. But ya know how the elders for valley have individual names and then a shared name. Does that mean that all twins have shared and individual names? And idk if this was already said, but why do twins even have shared names? Is there a theory that they were once one star that split into two, like irl twins come to be?
im sorry WHAT so my theory is correct??!!
Or maybe correct-
No it’s not. It’s very much not something to theorize about for one, as it’s pretty disrespectful
No. The office is an easter egg, no more, no less. The spirits you can currently meet in the office in live are very much alive in real life.
A member of the team has passed away, yes, but real people's deaths should not be theorized about or something to get excited about.
That said, Beta content is not to be discussed outside the beta channels.
probably doesnt have to do with lore but imagine someday in the future we can completely restore the golden wasteland
We do see it partially in the Animation Project, even if it’s set in the past
imagine if krills could be a 'corrupted' version of another creature too 👀 and restoring GW would also sort of relive these krills
GW seems too powerful to completely restore, but there are partial efforts, like the Forgotten Ark
Ty mods, that previous message up above was just so disrespectful like Jesus
@next wyvern like others have said, this is really not an appropriate topic to make theories, or even jokes, about so your message has been deleted. Please remember staff are real people and respect their privacy.
its very big and might take a while but i believe its possible
I understand
We may see a past version of GW in the Sky animation project. Here’s a picture shown there
woah thats pretty
I’d adore a season where we get a chance to look into the past on the kingdom in their prime
Like imagined destroyed structures we see all over the realm and new areas restored to their original state
Would maybe pose timeline questions (as I’d we timetravled) but it’ll be cool nonetheless
imagine different spirits moving into GW though and seeing how the place is in horrible condition they slowly try to rebuild a new empire/kingdom or something of sorts
https://www.thatskygame.com/news/beauty-transformations-in-days-of-bloom-2023/
Ah, look what just came out
yes yes ik but i didnt mention it because i thought it was beta 💔
but yeah something similar like that in all of GW would look pretty
Beta content is just anything that has only been seen in the beta channels. Stuff posted by tgc, or seen ingame is in live and can be talked about
Keep in mind this is entirely speculation and idk if I would call it a full on theory yet, but this is my personal favorite in-universe explanation for why that mural looks so differently than the one we see in Eden.
We see from the mural in repository of refuge that memory lanterns work by essentially holding and projecting memories from the light that you stick into them, in the same general way spirit memories are memories inside a spirit’s light. This idea is based around the concept that the diamond Night [headcanon name for vault elder, to clarify] gives us works the same way: we put our flame into it, and the elder murals it projects are from our own memories and perceptions of the elders.
You’ll notice that each mural we see of the elders shows them doing something that our skykid also sees them doing in their cutscene. I like to speculate that these interactions with the elders triggered some distant memory we had of us watching those scenes pre-disaster, because the intro seems to imply we were present in some form before the disaster happened, but even with that aside it’s not really a leap for our skykid to think “we met this elder forging darkstone, they probably taught that to ancestors too.” Ancestor spirits may even have told us that this happens; again, this is speculation and so your personal take on it just depends with what you want to see. [1/2]
One out of two?? Text wall discussion fr
So it continues, until you get to Eden.
Our skykid probably knows there’s an Eden elder by now just by seeing evidence of them around the realms, but they haven’t met them before. Our skykid is also a kid who’s just been thrown into a post apocalyptic world where every ancestor is dead, the elders are trapped who knows where, and the land itself is ruined with the scars of the past. It’s not too much of a leap for them to think of a mysterious powerful figure they’ve never met but have only heard of as the cause or personification of it all. The other murals of them [the one in Eden and the cave of prophecies] were by ancestors who knew what they actually looked like rather than assuming, hence the difference.
[The actual explanation, given the fact that the valley mural has their concept hairstyles, might be that this specific mural is from when the story was less developed than when the other two murals from, but we don’t know for sure.] [2/2]
An interesting thing to note if you want to use this idea is that, given their appearance in the friendship constellation, our skykid at least knows what they look like by the time they exit Eden
ooo this one ayyaya! (yeah it bothers me to all hell the twins hair in the live cutscene is different when their light awaits cutscene has their original hairs)
I find it intersting the valley elders are called "Elder of the Valley" in orbit. Plus i think thats the point, are the twins two halves making one or their own person? Every other name they're called is scrapped and fannon like you said, so we only have "Elder of the Valley" to go off on. I dont believe all twins in sky follow this trend except the valley elders but thats just me
i believe they could fuse together bc arent they technically made out of light? they could very much have separated and become 2 people or maybe the "Elder of the valley" could be referring to an elder that passed
im not familiar with sky lore so im just saying what i think could be a possibility 💔
I personally like the idea that while the Valley Elders are recognized as two people from the get go, they refer to themselves together as one person out of convenience-- and to instill fear in the people they don't like
"If you nobles won't stop making the peasants pay for expensive clothing and furniture, I will tell Samekh"
"B-but you are Samekh--"
"Doubt my power? You cannot eat money. Money will not save you from the consequences of your actions."
honk yeah Samekh says no to rampant capitalism.
Most evidence in-game suggests they were not against rampant capitalism sadly </3
Could be they were against rampant technological progress rather than capitalism, especially if the industry was nationalised
Still, the analogies between rampant capitalism IRL is very presence
I trust the twins, I think they would never do anything wrong in their life. Especially not with weapons /j
Fusing would be cool but i quite dont understand why the twins would be an exception of not being made of light. Or having a title of an elder that passed before them that we dont even know if they existed, yaknow? Just seems very out of place in my interpretation. But it is interesting though, because i wonder why you dont see the twins not being made of light in the first place, and not the same for the other elders
The twins lowkey reminds me of the chaotic hitachiin twins from OHSHC
**especially not with weapons in front of children
now i’m thinking about the twins doing their whole cutscene thing with the little ball of light and one of them messes up and like accidentally bonks the skykid or makes them fall over and they both instantly stop and go into “ohhh oh no no it’s okay youre okay i’m sorry you’re okay” while the skykid wails like a toddler that got scared
they do that sharp inhale thing through their teeth
See I totally think the elders and spirits have some kind of sweet spot for the skykids. I mean we literally are “fulfilling [their] wish” when we do seasonal quests.
Which is a funny theory bc skykids are literal stars (I’m pr sure. Every time we’re reborn, we are a literal shooting star) and shooting stars grant wishes.
that was literally my theory just a couple of hours ago ;-;. Even from the very start when you only first started playing sky, you can see your sky character coming from the sky like a shooting star, and can also go to the orbit after we went to eden and go to the literal heaven/sky and go back, we can also see this at the murals in isle of dawn that we are a new species of light, a last hope. Also, I have a theory that the kids that were frozen and remained statues in Eden was somehow just like us, they are stars, they are just like us that needs to be saved everytime we may run out of light.
I mean, they have to? The Skykids are kind of like the descendants of the Ancestors and Elders
Being their descendants doesn’t mean they have to be kind to them. If anything, ancestors n Elders are kind toward skykids cos skykids are… well, kids
Some ancestors and elders are kinder than others, though, for example the Forest Elder is quite impatient
Kind, fond, whatever
The ancestors and elders are also the closest thing the skykids have to a parental figure. And even that is a little hazy bc the only time we really “see” them is when we relive memories, meditate at the end of each realm, and the seasons and events. The rest is just kids relying on other kids. If you could compare vets who adopt moths to an older sibling
From an outsiders POV, the skykids do live is a messed up world. The only thing we have left are the ruins of our ancestors and what limited history we can interpret from the murals. I would imagine the history could possibly be “forbidden” to talk about from the spirits POV. bc if it wasn’t, they probably would have told the sky kids. That or they just can’t communicate. We also, as stated, have no real parental figure.
Not that I’m hating on the lore it’s just what I’m commenting.
Okay, now that just sounds absolutely adorable. I wanna see that now!
I'm leaning more on the side that they can't tell us. Either our journey is too important, and they don't have enough time to tell us anything long-winded (the fall of a civilization and outbreak of war is not a quick conversation), or they're physically unable to.
The way it's presented, everything we experience feels like... for lack of a better term, an automated message left behind for us to find. One that's severely limited, especially with the Elders, since their "message" has to physically do something. If we think of it in terms of modern tech in our world, they didn't have enough storage space to both fulfill their objective of forging the light and opening the path and tell us the story of the past.
Obviously, this is likely mechanics, but in a game like this, where the devs like to hide little thing in everything, everything must then be considered.
Oooo I like your idea about the storage. I always liked to think that when we see or relive the spirits there not 100% present or there ya know? Bc they are spirits who’ve died. But when we have seasons and ts who come back maybe they’re more cognitive
i just had a thought here at work, and i need to spit it out
so with the aurora season. i made a potential connection that we see the same story from the spirit's side, and the animals that were there
for example, warrior
we see the pov of the mantas being captured during the concert, and the quest giving the pov of the spirits using those mantas for racing
like a before and after thing, if that makes sense, even though the quests came first
idk if i worded it well im on my phone and tired as heck but
same song, two different point of views? if that makes sense
Yeah, I think that as well
tl;dr: we see the same story from two different angles, or we see a before/after effect, or something along those lines
Has anybody theorized specifically which light creatures have been corrupted into krill? I ask, because I was doing Eden, and I noticed how many "wings/legs" krill have. It reminded me of the giant cosmic manta in the last level of the Vault. Really long body, lots of "wings". Could that be why we don't see any of those elsewhere, and instead see the usual 2-4 wing mantas (the one in Sanctuary is 4 winged, right?)?
Krills have dozens of wings, they may have been so potent in light that they were hunted down first
Bright dragons
Those dozens of wings is why I made the connection to the cosmic manta (eel?) in Vault. There are no krill with fewer wings, so my assumption is it's whatever the cosmic manta/eel thing is that was corrupted into krill. They seem to be different species from regular manta, since we see smaller versions alongside the large one (possibly offspring?), and they don't look like regular manta. They look like an amoeba, or some sort of eel as opposed to mantas.

Worry no more, for your gallant bot in a shining white cape has arrived! Tis I, Skybot! I am here!
HOLD ON HOLDON THATS A NEW ONE
THEYRE ADDING NEW ONES
skybot getting updated:
thats deep fam
So dinosaurs coming to sky?
A spirit trex would be pretty cool
heeheehee
I think the bot is trolling the lore channel.
most of the time
but a troll clock is right twice a day, eh?
yo guys, is eden actually cold or hot
I personally think it’s both, cold winds that get hotter the closer you get to the diamond but it’s really up to personal interpretation
I think it's cold cos since light is associated with warmth and darkness takes light, it leaves cold in its place. Eden, full of darkness, would be frigid, perhaps the coldest place in the Sky world
soo
The eden itself is cold, it's just that the diamond is molten hot
There’s no confirmed answer on if edens temperature is like that. It’s just what I personally think it would be like
ooof i see
i like ur theory
Colder than valley probably
room temperature
If they are kids though... How tall could a sky kid grow as an adult?

Sky kids on the reg are 1-3 ft tall but if that's the case, do they grow any taller with age? Or are they just referred to as kids because of their hight when in reality they are ageless as they are very much clay? Hmmm
hum, good question tbh, considering isle elder does show 'age' i think they do transform as time pass.. but it could be as a factor of wearing out perhaps?
Here's some things I thought up in cozy chat, just a moment
I did mostly get very off topic but it does bring up a very valid point!
Considering skids have been told (to my knowledge) to be made of clay, that sort of reminds me of a phoenix situation as mentioned here.
Hyper intelligent species of clay-like entitys capable of transferring memorys, flight, teleportation, and seeing spirits and seeing spirits memorys before they passed on.
Constantly growing and learning as all beings do hence why they are called "kids" or "children" as they never stop learning. Just like humans do! However, that would lead to something that would make more sense as clay normally doesn't harden by itself for a very very long time! It would explain how they turn to stone in Eden instead of passing away as other spirits were seen doing during the war scene in auroras concert
I imagine it's a special type of clay, if their internal light doesn't keep them warm, they will freeze and harden until turned to stone
We are all haunted clay dolls is my new cannon
More like blessed clay dolls but sure
I think Skykids were born as children and stay as children. That is, in a way, the whole point of the game
I assume that the light is also what allows them to move
The light inside their bodies can shift around to make their clay limbs flexible enough to move and... yknow
Skykids rarely react to temperature unless by shivering when they lose their light. Given how Eden has almost no light, it’s safe to assume it’s cold
i wonder if eden is colder than valley
I think everything is warmer than Eden, at least Valley still has sunlight
Even Wasteland would still be warmer because there's a bit of sunlight peeking through holes in the clouds practically everywhere
Eden does seem to be higher up than Valley, so that also
Meaning also less oxygen
I wonder if Skykids even need oxygen
Now where's the hottest place in sky
Na they don't
They can fly in space without even suffocating lol
I’d guess Sanctuary Island or Vault of Knowledge
Why vault tho
More insulated I guess?
Just theorising, but this reminded me of Edens moon-thing
It's cold but
Probably more like room cold
10 - 19° Celsius
now I'm wondering if memory lanterns emit heat from the Light stored within, cuz then Vault would be pretty toasty
I would hazard a guess that Wasteland is probably the hottest. Evaporation of the water in the little light that gets tbrough leading to high humidity factor, old world machines still (somehow) running which would produce heat, and cloud cover creating a natural greenhouse effect to keep the heat and humidity in. Plus, it's a desert with no cooling ocean nearby, unlike Isle.
The only place I could see being hotter is Forest, because it's constantly raining. However, that could be a cloud forest, due to its proximity to clouds, and it seems like it's at a pretty high elevation, and cloud forests are typically very cold, opposed to rain forest being very hot and humid. So Forest could actually be one of the coldest regions, short of Eden(?) and Valley.
i’ve always felt like Forest is sorta like a taiga
Yeah, it definitely could be a taiga, too.
The trees themselves have a look not that dissimilar from redwoods from west coast US and Canada. I don't know what clime that would be considered, but it's a region that has lots or rain and a temperature range that can vary pretty widely. Could be semi warm and very cold. Which, I guess, doesn't help the conversation, lol.
what do we think's going on with eden in this image from the animation project teaser? looks like energy being harnessed from the diamond to me 😳
Probably but really idk
it's pretty interesting to me idk, especially the lightning pattern going down the mountain
this could be the moment before it erupts? the mountain, specifically the top, looks intact, and the lightning cracks could be the start of the big boom
I was doing shards and saw the Eden memory of the pod of mantas and that made me think. You know when we do Golden and the krill always gets that one manta. What if all those mantas who lost their lives are there
ooh, maybe! like it's getting overwhelmed or something and about to burst
I think it actually might be a little bit after the explosion — the peak is floating in the beam
that doesn't look so much like there's been an explosion
the top edge of the mountain looks too even
that's a city (or castle) there on the top of the mountain
makes me wonder whether it's the castle/throne that's levitating with massive darkstone power? is that perhaps what the eden diamond originally was? a giant battery to keep the castle above all else?
The Eden beam could have weird magical properties that make things float in it, too. It could also be darkstone power, you’re right, but I don’t think a diamond that massive over a light source that important would’ve only been used to keep a city afloat
really weird question, but is there a lore reason for the little nubs on their heads
lore reason
meta lore or in-universe lore? iirc it's the former
moth antenna
It looks like it's just hair tufts on everything but the hairstyle closet and I have no idea what it's for lol
Best guess is that accessories used to have their own closet and the pictures just haven't changed
The strange thing is, in none of the shrines do the nubs have a different color, implying they aren't hair or mask, maybe there's another cosmetic shrine yet to be unlocked, the Elder Horns!
ik the very first concept arts of skykids had mask horns so i wonder if its a small reference to that
either or, ik the symbol for props/instruments we can also see on a daylight prairie bridge so it could've been an old asset
I always wondered if there was a reason why the prop closet has gold mixed into the bricks in literally every area with a closet (aside from village theatre backstage I think)
I'm sure Skykids used to have horns in concept art (as in being one of their main features,) so that might've been a leftover from that time
ooooh yes The old concepts had a lot of those, quite interesting

I want my Skykid to have horns now! Legit horns, not from the mask. It would be so cute on a chibi Skykid!
We only got yeti horns, but I don't like the style of them, I do want more
some of these concepts make me wonder how much those horn shapes got translated into the isle boat mask esp Pink Hair
I'm just wondering if horns where specifically important or just for show of status
In this version they were specifically important (carrying a jade mote)
horns were for being cool
Thinking about Dawns mask carrying a mote like this
Here’s what I think:
Home is probably pretty nice, 60F or 15C
Isle shares the same warm waters with Home, but it retains that heat far worse, so I’d imagine probably 45F or 7C.
Prairie is the warmest, since light usually equates to warmth. There’s very littlep water nearby, unlike Wasteland which is next to a literal sea. It’s probably around 80F or 25C. The exception of Sanctuary Islands is notable, with it being probably around 105F or 40C.
Forest seems very cold, but not so much to be freezing. It’s probably around 45F or 7C
Wasteland is interesting. Although it has a greenhouse effect, there’s also a massive sea that cools it. I’ll say Wasteland’s weather is probably the most variable, with a drier area like the Forgotten Ark being around 70F or 20C, and a wetter area like the Treasure Reef being around 50F or 10C.
Wasteland is cold. Source: my friend lives there /j
source: guys just trust me
Vault is prob cold. The Remembrance spirits shiver a lot
Wasteland is definitely interesting, since it could probably go either way, honestly.
It could either be one of the coldest region because the thick clouds are blocking most of the light. Or it could be the hottest, because any heat that does get down there is trapped by the thick clouds (think Venus' greenhouse effect).
I'm thinking it's more the latter, because there's nothing to carry the heat away. No storm systems to move it, and no obvious convection system/updrafts pushing heat from the bottom to the top and pulling down cooler air. With all the water around, the place likely has a really high humidity, as well (also due to lack of storm system to pull it away), giving it a screaming hot heat index.
The rest of your comment, I agree with, except Sanctuary. To me, it seems more like it'd be a tropic zone, which hover around 80°F. Considerably cooler than your prediction. But that is just how it seems to me.
Thank you for the debate, though. I may come off as maybe a little antagonistic, but that's just my tone and how I think. I do enjoy the debate.
No, no, I enjoy this metereological stuff! I'm a bit more iffy on warm wasteland because there's a gigantic sea surrounding it, but I see your point.
could be cold sea!
You could be right. Fish could be right that it's a cold sea, and my assumptions are baseless. We'll just have to wait and find out. Though, I'm pretty sure meteorological information about the regions is pretty low on TGC's list of priorities right now.
I do actually think the horns are for some important purpose
As from what i watched in the Light awaits gameplay, ||the skykids after relieving a spirit, the spirit itself gives the child an orb thingy, or most likely an orb! Maybe it's for the child's protection for its further journeys? Like a barrier|| (spoiler if you haven't watched the gameplay yet
) And from the concept art you had sent there's an exactly same looking orb the child receives, and a Krill's eye colour is the same as the floating orb and the Manta's eye or the one at the tip.
But yea, i think thorns are supposed to represent the status of the child, like a Krill's eye
(I REALLY APOLOGISE IF I WENT OFF TOPIC 😭)
Sky kids are a silicon based lifeform & the reason why they petrify in eden when hit by rocks is because by cracking open their shells it lets the oxygen in
Tbh, i basically thought the rocks just stab into skull
(The red rock on the head)
"ow, my head got stabbed BUT I NEED MY CANDLES I MUST WALK"
Skykids are very durable
i like to think Skykids are made up of asteroid-like materials
Yup, you may be correct, since Skykids are like a shooting star and they are basically almost made up of dust like particles and fire (?)
And plus, their heart is a candle
I heard someone mentioned the mural in eden looks different from other murals but I can't spot any differences
Well true, the king may be probably dead due to the corruption/destruction of Eden, and the murals do represent some important events that the king attended with the king as a memory
Yeah, it would make sense given how they don’t take any sort of fall damage whatsoever
And plus, the king is almost like a million or more years, since Sky also takes place LIKE MILLION YEARS AGO
Ancient things
And they also said it in the Light awaits outro (Eden) It was mentioned "Because of him the kingdoms fell." Or something like that (i think so , i don't remember tho i watched the vid a year ago 😭)
Doubt that the events of the game were set "millions of years ago" since the technology is more advanced that modern human technology.
Yea, gotta agree with you with this point
Yet it is quite uncertain that the events were set million years ago
Also, the king wasn't the one who led the kingdom to it's downfall. The citizens did (at least from what I remember) due to the overproduction of technology leading to war(s)
And plus the poison/dark water
I think it’s more hundreds of years ago, since the Switch Trailer first says “centuries ago, before the stars fell”
Yup, i don't remember where i saw that dialogue but IT WAS SOMEWHERE IN LIGHT AWAITS I DO REMEMBER THAT
Uhhh I don’t know about Light Awaits
The older version of sky with a lot of details if you're concerned :DD
As in I haven’t played it, the lore must’ve been different back then but there are some similarities
No one did actually (except iOS users i think)
Hmm
I don't remember any dialogue in the orbit of light awaits
It is to be taken to consideration that not everything from light awaits is canon (same applies to concept art)
btw Baud, are you a lights awaits fossil
Maybe
/j
There's also a dialogue
Imagine the kids not returning the light and farming for candles and hearts 🤡
I assume this is from light awaits?
(I should have a counter to whenever I say "light awaits")
its at 5 right now
I think we came off topic atp 🤡
the topic remains to be about light awaits-?
Buddy was talking about Resh and then it came to Light awaits
No lol, even if it seems I am
ohhhhh, I misread "As in I haven’t played it" as "As if I haven’t played it" 💀
Not fulfilling the prophecy because I’m scared
The quests are straight up hard anyway who wouldn't be scared 🥲/lh
that sounds like a skill issue /lh
Skill issue fr/lh
sigh..... i am back, and i aint back read the chat this time 😄
here is my theory:
i went to [isle of dawn elder] and i saw smt that might give me a theory, it might be just a bug of the programing of those things., BUT, i saw his mask is like, shattering without being shattered, like, its like in a n inbetwen
so
IT LEADS ME TO THINK
that IODE's mask shattered during eden explotoin
I think so too, it just makes thematic sense
I wish the elders in the shattering memory were rendered in more detail so we could tell for sure 💔
Shatterill issue
hi lore chat
is there anywhere (concept art or in game) that mentioned eden being the capital in the kingdom? or did my brain make that up
iirc it was valley that was referred to a thriving city in the center of the kingdom
Valley seems to be the capital from what I can tell, especially considering it’s in the center of the other realms; but considering the ornate Eden we see as we’re flying up to Orbit, it could be a contender as well
according to google, "A capital is a city where a region's government is located"
I would say that, if Eden is where the castle is, then it would be Eden as the capital, not Valley simply because it's in the center of everything
Similar to Washington DC and NYC in a way
the capitol of New York State is Albany, not NYC
Wait what
You probably mean the state of New York, and not the city of New York City?
We can't judge technology-wise because events of "Sky" can be set not on Earth but in parallel world or another planet
NYC used to be the capital of New York state, then they moved the state government to Albany, so technically baud isn't wrong
and to add on to that: Washington DC is the capital of U.S., the seat of the government of all of the US as a whole, but it is not the capital of a state
I think he meant that Washington DC is the capital of the US like Eden, but NYC is the most City in the US so it’s like Valley
either way, to call Eden the capital of the sky kingdom is probably fitting - assuming it was the seat of the King/whatever regent Sky used to have
however, how much the power of Eden actually extended is not clear
it's very possible that the people of Isle of Dawn were largely left to govern themselves in whatever way they see fit
Wondering if Eden was more like a temple for all the elders than just one
Like a council place?
Yeah!! My only evidence for this is how much fancier it is than the other temples & that the summit has all the elder statues on it instead of just one of them. Mostly speculation but I think it would be interesting
Again, personal speculation, but from what I know of pre disaster Sky it’s much easier for me to imagine a council of elders with equal power rather than 7 elders who answer to 1 elder more powerful than all of them combined
Oo i can see that, eden gives off more like a sacred place than a capital to me. Think of a giant temple as you said but the final palace spirits ago before truly beginning acension but I like that idea!
Yaya same, each have their own realms, but one is not the definitive ruler than the other. one might have more respect but not having all the control who dictates all
It could also function as a general temple to the Light due to its location, hence how fancy it is too. I would like to note that having the temple most associated with you also being a temple for all the other elders & for the Light generally still implies some degree of power and specialness
Yaya ofcorse
Yeah, like how Eden is the technical capital, but Valley is the one everyone cared about
I’d say the residential capital was Valley while the spiritual capital was Eden
rubs hands
In my honest opinion, I believe that Eden was more of a place of worship or ascension, seeing how it is (technically) on the tallest mountain, which means that it is the closest to the heavens (aka "The Light" or "Orbit")
I wouldn't think that the elders would make a council place in eden if it was meant to be a place of worship or ascension
Note: still thinking where the council could possibly be
2nd note: Ascension could also be the way how light creatures would normally return to the stars (just like in a concept art)
It’s notable that we don’t see Eden inhabited at all in the Switch Trailer
do we actually see enough of eden to make the call whether or not if was inhabited in the trailer?
I guess CW could, in theory, inhabit it?
Crab whisperer could inhabit Eden?
I knew they were powerful, but not this powerful
In all seriousness, I don't think Eden is clearly seen in this image to be inhabited
(It's like saying earth isn't inhabited because you can't see anyone from space)
It also seems uninhabitable. I mean, the Eden Diamond is controlling somewhat the beam from space, but without it, the beam seems to be piercing through the mountain
they had to have built something on the mountain or we wouldn't have the ruins, it would all be rocks
It calls into question when exactly they built Eden
Fair point
if it was uninhabited/uninhabitable, then why would the elders make a council on the mountain, if ancestors are unable to withstand the mountain's circumstances? (couldn't be height, they are def taller than normal ancestors, which would mean less oxygen privileges up on that mountain, the tallest one, in fact)
I mean unhinhabited, but I'm not sure. We'll need to see the animation project in full to really know
if they even actually need oxygen though. the bar of "air" when diving is more likely to be the water slowly putting out your flame as opposed to damaging the sky kid directly with the other kinds of water
Ancestors work differently than skykids, they didn't have a flame as their "core"
though, if we ignore the oxygen concern, there are still the winds that could possibly tip the elders off of the mountain, I find it funny to imagine the elders tumbling down the mountain
(just sharing my thoughts)
insert gmod ragdoll sfx
my first thought is sah getting yeeted every morning and having to climb all the way back up. please help i can't stop laughing
HELPP
i even got enough of an image that i animated it in my brain and it's just like, the stupidest way someone could fall down a mountain
Sah gets pushed by Mekh and ragdoll slides their way down the mountain like Breath of the Wild Link until finally they reach the bottom and the Botw game over jingle plays
i love how every single time we talk about the valley twins, it's Sah getting picked on.
it's either Mekh, or the universe in general, sometimes they work together
the only time they work together is to divorce people
i wish i could draw some of these ideas, but humanoids are my biggest nemesis in art right now.
mekh divorcing sah from existence:
YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH I JUST SCREAMED WITH LAUGHTER
was sah the one with spiky hair or was it the other way around? I always forger
“Divorced from reality” takes a whole new meaning
sah is
mekh is
It’s the fate of the universe, they just have that energy
Ok i know is dumb thought but in the beginning we see this girl and this meteor or shooting star hit the first area
And from the shooting star there's is an kid(or what's looks like one) so i got thinkinh...maybe is from shooting stars that kids come out of? Like an whish that was made true? Or even maybe an star that loose their balance on the sky?
i can't wait to complete the valley constellation and get my Sah hair because i vibe with them a lot
Yep, all of those are possible though nothing is for sure
Btw I just wanna point out that the spirit isn't a girl
The ever

i imagine you're with me in the wait for the ability to fully cosplay as elders in the game?
yes :)
I want the rest of the elder masks, I have like 670 ac for Sah mask :((
THAT'S SO MUCH i hope it's like, actually below that price. any more than Forest's when they're so simple to the point the valley elders don't exactly have masks on the actual model would make me so upset but i'm gonna save for it anyway because Sah
they actually do have masks, they're just featureless
tac how on earth
||i have 2||
The brainrot
I bought all the available Elder shield masks so I can't contest
I also have 220 rn
i guess that's true but like, they would be the simplest ones, since Dusk has a lot of details in general (which would look AWESOME in the semi-transparent glow by the way) and Vault at least has the like, scar over their eye, while samekh just have one eye missing and basically no other features
I've seen some fanart speculating what their shield mask(s) could be, ig it's a hard debate between the devs
Maybe they just don’t love us enough /j

Ah i saw the pig tails and got like "IS GORL"
i need a wheeze emoji but i don't have one. this is too accurate
saving this
yeah ktjn said this once, they dont have gender but folks like to put gender on elders and ancestors at first glance
i think of the spirits as gendered a lot but i try to use gender neutral terms
everyone in Sky is canoncially agender 🏳️⚧️
Where’s the big flag thingy
the what
The big flag with all the spirits on it
This one?
YEAH
I love how it even includes the void of shattering
The ever
don't forget ancient light and darkness!
Xd
Like there's a bunch of gay people and then there's diamond
The diamond🎉
those are the little puff things at the top
yes, i was saying to not forget that they're there
oh sorry! :3
Oh that’s them?? Help I thought they were clouds
i did too at first but that's the only spirits they could be so i just guessed. never got a chance to actually see them in game
My mental image of the ancients has always been the big piles of petrified creatures so I didn't notice they were in the image 💀
what did that look like again? i need to confirm something i just remembered
Like blue and yellow sparks for the shattering spirits
i feel like i'd been in the season version of the void before because i actually remember groups of petrified creatures that weren't the memories but i don't know how i would have done that and not at least one of the season quests
How interesting that the Void of Shattering used to be red, then blue… does it imply it’s like a “spirit”, almost
that's where you went to collect cosmetics
Walk in closet
i could've had the pygmy manta cape if i played for longer than one log in
This reminds me of those aggressive pride flags from that one twitter post lol
A pile of petrified light creatures with 2 yellow lights on it, and a bunch of petrified dark plants and krills in the other side with 2 blue lights
I don't have a screenshot sadly
very very mildly upset that not only did i skip Aurora season until the last week but also the season just before that where there was a cosmetic i was waiting a literal year for. and i completely skipped it except for one single day.
Perfection
Real
Just add some dinosaurs and explosions and there you go
It's ok I'm sure most of us missed a cosmetic we really wanted at one point or another
I learned about Sky during season of LP and started playing towards the end of flight and both seasons have some of my favorite cosmetics 💀
Also the rainbow pants. I really wanted those too but I didn't have candles at the time
i was keeping up with #news specifically on the lookout for something with manta cosmetics
that's what makes it bad
I’m just waiting for remembrance guides card
So anyway, do yall think the elder of a realm has any influence on their citizens? Like how the apologize spirit and rejecting spirit have basically the same mask designs as the elders of their realms
Let's hope they're just waiting till the last quest and they didn't just forget about the guide's card... Let's just hope...
i didn't even know guides got cards until people said they were waiting for it
Probably, given how they’re the main source of birds/butterflies/entertainment/military leadership/Eden elder etc.
Yaya I know it started with flight guide, only way we know they’re confirmed
‘s apprentice
I am a little.. late, but i have another theory
When we salute a normal season guide, we do the emote of “wave hand” or however its called
Definitely, I can see a lot of ancestors and elders having close ties
Also bc confident sightseer basically has a dollar store version of the bob cut valley elder’s hair lol also bc rhythm guide and performance guide are implied to be twins and are both, coincidentally, from valley
Meanwhile, when we salute aurora, we do the emote of respect, like she is our superior, not just saying like: oh Hi dUdE hOw Ar You, no,
Yeah I thought that was interesting, Skykids probably like the guides but Aurora seems to have a deeper meaning to the Skykids
She’s our mom obviously /j
Same with all of the aurora spirits
is it kinda bad that i prefer confident sightseer over
? something about it i don't know. maybe it's just that i haven't actually seen it outside of screenshots, whereas i use sightseer's hair regularly
Sorry for bad quality

Yeah I noticed that, we greet the other spirits like they are our friends while we show respect to AURORA and her spirits
I wonder why
“Technically”, aren’t most people in Sky related to each other? In the beginning cutscene, it says “All Are Born By Starlight”, what an intriguing quote
… that remembered me to the bee movie tingy……. Anyways
There shouldn’t be any shame on perfering one hair over the other, like I completely ignore
’s hair, I just like
’s better
by that metric, we are all related cos we share a common ancestor 9 million years ago
speaking of the aurora spirits i had a small crisis over their size compared to my skid. That has NEVER happened in all my time in the game with the other spirits, but for some reason it only just then hit me that they're way bigger when the spirits are more detailed and realistic (probably that i'm almost tallest height and they still tower over me)
ancestors are big, yes
I had an hc idea that if an ancestor(s) wanted a kid, they’d shape their kid out of clay and bring it to their respective elder to revive their blessing to bring them to life. It’s how I explain the cores all of them have
cool and cute concept I like
AWW
that's kind of like my friend's idea of how their OCs can be direct siblings - made them two adult "sky kid" parents that just wished so hard that they could adopt a moth, two of them fell from the sky.
Exactly
Speaking of aurora spirits, why do we not see running wayfarer in their spirit memory at all? I mean we see the runaway kid but how did they turn into a star/winged light
they're likely the child
I remember talking about it before but I just think the kid we see in runaway is kid wayfarer, all the other spirits appear in their memory songs, so wayfarers would be the odd one out if it wasn’t them as the kid
Because he has blue hair and pronouns
oh no.
i want to go back to this because i actually had a point for it. if you were to meet someone who can give you a quite literally magical concert experience would you simply wave at them?
Yeah that makes sense lol, also bc the aurora spirits made it possible too yeah so the skykid for sure does it as a way of appreciation
Up to my knowledge, not even the elders are aluted like that
I mean were more in a state of helping them give light then simply visiting them for fun
the elders don't have direct interaction though, you have to summon them
even in Eden, i believe you just open the tree, you don't use an emote at all (obviously i am not going to go through Eden and summon Dawn just to check this statement)
Yeah you just summon and they do they’re fancy cutscene
Ye…
Actually thats just what i amgoing to do
i do need to do Eden but i have \art i need to finish
I am edening rn xd
Did you guys theorice any meaning for the songs in the concert?
Like, parts of the sky world,
"Exhale Inhale" being the light creatures crying for help
wait i never thought about that one. that fits so well
They are saying to the ancestors to stop taking things from their world
They might know about the balance of the world of sky
just a theory
Im needing some context on that
But you drawings are pretty
i also need some context. what is prophecy guide doing here
If the parent is from season of belonging they may be the parent of one of the spirits of that season i think
I am seeing the concert in youtube right now, im kinda wanting to try understand every part of the song's cutscenes
danke
im basically trying to figure out the family tree between rhythm, dreams, and performance since the rhythm guide and the performance guide are twins (said from tgc)
so I thought maybe the Dreams guide was the daughter between rhythm and sparkler parent solely based on their similarities such as the rhythm mask and the the parent hairstyle
i thought sparkler parent + pleaful parent = boogie kid and hair tousle teen
confetti cousin is very vague and it's uncertain which side of the family the wise grandparent or grandma (belonging guide) is on the family tree
But remember that some seasonal spirits have default hairs as well, a hairstyle is just a cosmetic thing that may like to use, remember that many people can have the same haircut and dont be related
Lore question, did ancestors die as we skykids die? As being transformed in statues?
ye I know it was just a thought
I also thought that the thoughtful director from season of rhythm was the performance guide since the director was the only one from rhythm with a bird mask and guide hairstyle
might be wrong though
prophecy is just there to show height difference
i literally thought "thoughtful director" was the name for rhythm guide,, until i remembered that the guides don't have names and the spirit just has the same hairstyle.
Is prophecy guide really that tall in comparison to other guides?
that was the popular vote when prophecy started
and he was actually taller when he stood in home space than previous guides
I think it was the mask, it really is a big mask, but grattitude one was long, pretty big, but the eara i thing arent as high as prophecy one
I think so to
performance guide also seems taller and it's 100% because of the mask (probably)
I rememberd this but they’re confirmed the same height sadly
Can anyone shortly explain to me the lore
the war
Doesn’t stop me from full on saying perf is taller just because it’s funner
#lore-discussion-spoilers message
Lore doc with the most bare bones lore there is cuz a lot is up to interpretation
Ya
I see Mekh being a little taller than Sah
i love when like, the twin you expect to be the older one because of something arbitrary like height, is actually the younger one
Just realized I replied to myself
What are some other silly sky spirits things you lore people think about
hi does someone know what sky kids are made of?
hopefully my question made sense, but it's obvious sky kids aren't like humans with meat and bones haha (i think)
i'm not sure if there is like an official answer for it i'm just curious if anyone has discussed this and i just don't know yet (since i'm a moth) because i thought they might be made of stone(? or something similar ^^'
the popular theory is that they're mode of clay! and the fire inside of them keeps it just melted enough to have the same kind of movements we (and the ancestors) do
oh aw that's very cute theory and it makes sense
thanks for replying!
the moon?
An eclipse?
the moon
Probably has been mentioned before but I find it cool some of the assembly kids were dismantling power diamonds from the boats and reusing them, seen in like chucking scouts and botanists props.
Also gives a cool perspective that dark-stone is something that can lift anything, really. From a pair of sticks not touching one another to stone.
Maybe oneday we get more info on darkstone properties cuz it can do a lot
Also seasons name is legit assembly so of corse they’re gonna mix things together to assemble and see what happens
Wonder if there’s passive levitation magic that ties chuckling’s sticks and diamond togeather
Like I know power diamonds can float on their own, but does it simply have a gravitational pull to lift anything on its vincity or is it really just combining more magic with it together? Ik memory capsules can float on their own, thinking of wise grandparent but I was wonder if it’s one or the other
I wish there was a more solid magic system in sky
Thinking more, the lanterns we light up in wise grandparent’s area needs fire to even activate when chucking’s prop doesn’t. Idk if the scale of a diamond would affect if it can even float on its own which is weird
as much as it looks like it, i can't imagine those lanterns being made of darkstone
think they're just ghostly lanterns because Vault
I get that, but what would even be projecting th ghosts lanterns? Unless we wanna put that in purple magic shenanigans
Lets just say ancient magic that was lost during the shattering
I mean theres a subtial ammount of time that every knowledge of magic was lost after the sky kingdom fell apart
A Dark Age that most people who might have survive didnt know anything from the magic before or how to recreate it
Yeah, I suppose
Why do i get a gut feeling that Tsadi's Shrine/temple was used as a cell, i mean i may be wrong as the gates may also be there for "decoration" but don't you think that the gates slide down like falling spikes (i mean look at the edge of the gates ☠️☠️) and plus, there's that one concrete or whatever door
*** it's up to Tsadi what he constructed those with***
Anyway, they look like the ones in the forest which has a room inside (and yes the room looks like a cell or almost i must say)
Maybe the Eder did some crime and then locked himself away?
Maybe because of the war in the GW?
No because, outside the temple there are statues of Resh
Since the majority of GW has to do something about factories, I believe that those doors are easy shortcuts to bigger factories (in the realm) or doorways to more factory productions
Interesting
So maybe Resh had invaded GW aswell, since those statues
And maybe Tsadi was Resh's general in the war, aswell
2nd mission : invade prairie for that fine sunshine
But the war seemed to be between the GW and the VOK judging by the diamond shaped shields we see
Maybe the GW wanted the knowledge locked in the vault?
But my question is what did we even learn in the VOK I mean we learned something but it unclear to me
Maybe, but in that conclusion Lamed seemed like a great mage tho, despite being left out/losing connection with the others (due to retirement ☠️)
Hmmm 🤔
"Ayo, i am old lemme sit here and send diamonds to nasa"
Not knowing the diamonds were consumed by Eden
/hj

No like what if Eden probably consumed light and diamonds to make itself powerful
True
Since the big diamond is like it's heart itself tho
I don’t think Eden won, though, since we see the Wasteland Elder’s shield in Eden
Tsadi left his memories ♥️
But the sky kingdom is stuck in a loop a constant fight between light and dark
And the diamond is more powerful than the elders judging by the last memory what if it took there light the most powerful creatures of light to make itself more powerful and is probably why Eden is more powerful than the sky kids
But like yea, you're very much correct
What if the war is what created Eden?
Eden is like a Radioactive city which got destroyed due to pollution and toxic air
Here’s my idea a battle happened. We do not know why it happened or what caused it, but the darkness produced from that battle created enough darkness to take over the entire area, creating the diamond a mask, a pure, unfiltered darkness the creation sent a shockwave throughout the kingdom of sky so powerful that the every day spirits return to Stone by the sheer darkness of the shockwave
The elders left a meeting at they were in to try to defend this threat and try to save those that are left but Eden in its most powerful time defeated the elders as it slowly drained there light and there power making itself more powerful in the process and with one shockwave it knocked the elders off there feet and unlit them and they fled
We do know some stuff from the Aurora concert:
-Most of the fighting seemed to take place in Wasteland
-There were 2 sides, the “sun” and “diamond” side.
-The Valley Elders intervened by using the light blue light, which holds the power of wind. It was basically like air artillery
Yup
nods
So it's either the Sun guards who tried to Invade the land or the diamond people
The diamonds could be scholars from the VOK thanks to its HEAVY emphasis on diamonds
Since, the diamond team is more related to Eden (the diamond heart) what if they were related to Vok and Eden?
But we see them fighting to get to Vault, I think it’s more likely that either
a. they came from Valley
b. A civil war in Wasteland
Hmm true what if they were the people of the area before Eden become well…Eden in order to get into the GW they needed to go through the VOK so why were they trying to get in unless they were trying to stop the fighting?
The Vault of Knowledge has a lot of strategic potential
I think the civil war was between technology and the caring of light creatures
What if the notice that the darkness was turning the light creatures into dark creatures and they when on a hunt to wipe out the younger ones
we learned about the lost elder of eden. there's a 7th constellation mural in the cut scene at the summit
what exactly happened to eden's elder is still unclear
i have a question, could be Aurora megabird's succesor, cause we kinda ascend in the concerts, we almost get into orbit
no, i don't think so. megabird was a cut concept from the light awaits. i think aurora is just a storytelling vessel
so, megabird isnt in the current cannon?
"megabird" only exists in sky as part of the sky when you look up in orbit, when the credits finally zoom out after orbit, and in the secret space portal moat
anything else is fan speculation, or content from the light awaits that didn't make it to the final product
Ok then off-topic real quick in the concert the ending for “the seed” can we all agree that made our jaws drop?
yep! it was one thing to have multiple dark dragons present in the quest, but mantas!?
if mantas are the sky equivalent of horses (manta racing, hello?), then those were likely war mantas like war horses
(this also implies the existence of manta girls in the idea of horse girls)
Also idea what it what is the darkness serious problem they started, wiping out the younger generations of all the dark creatures till limited success

mm, i don't think they "wiped out younger generations" so much as we might have seen the juvenile ones in the seed concert segment
there's also a small one that swims around the angler's memory in treasure reef
Hmm do you think they could start out as ocean creatures before becoming the terrifying creatures we know today
essay incoming
Hit me with your best shot

🟰

Maybe
We do see in the switch trailer a light creature different from whales that also has a spotlight, so I’m inclined to believe it’s different
That’s also my main theory these creatures could have came from nowhere since it’s been shown that darkness can corrupt creatures to some degree if we are to believe the king Krill in the abyss season
The forest temple is not a "temple" in the traditional sense, instead housing a mechanism that is meant to produce diamonds en masse. It has not changed much in design from the original concept art. Now, what powers diamonds? Light. And eventually candle light was not enough.
This is why after awakening the elder, the temple door opens and releases... a flock of mantas.
Now, there is a ruined mechanism in the second area of the Golden Wasteland, and is home to a Dark Dragon. Beyond it lie many more Dark Dragons in the boneyard.
They’re not just mounts their power sources!
mantas seem to start out life in places like sanctuary islands, then move out to other areas, and eventually - at least some of them - move into the ocean and live there. Greatest example i can think of is elder manta, it only jumps out of the water it never really flies
Krill could very well be the opposite of that, at least now, where they start in the darkest depths of the ocean and eventually make their way to other areas in search of light.
I personally think they started as whales, then the corruption ate everything but their bones
YES. And those bones are so big, they can only belong to whales.
What about the king krill in the abyss? It seems to be more meat than bones?
However, the abyss is interesting. The abyss is where the kingdom got desperate. There are two light murals (one toward the actual abyss, another before the stairs to the underwater Winged Light) that show scholars getting more and more powered diamonds the more wings a manta has.
the king krill is a very hard thing to guess but it could just be an "elder whale" that's stronger than the rest of them so it wasn't eaten away as much
One would assume they were genetically engineering a manta with multiple wings for larger energy output. In fact, you can see an elder manta breaching the water when you complete the Season of Sanctuary quest tree!
But there's a problem: per the game's prologue (viewed in the entry cave of the Isle of Dawn), "all draw breath from starlight". So if there's no light, the animal dies. But this genetically engineered manta appears to have been corrupted akin to however Dark Dragons came about.
Interesting
Even bigger problem: The Eden diamond. How many creatures of light did that thing take? Well, the poems to accompany the memories for Season of Shattering imply that there was some kind of false beacon luring creatures of light and trapping them.
Brutal and maybe it took advantage about the lifecycle of the creatures it knew they had to go to the stars eventually so it blocked there path
And worse yet, the final Shattering memory shows the Elders taking the brunt of the damage! It also shows something interesting at the very pinnacle: the ever-present motif for the King from The Light Awaits.
Wait wait there’s winged light ontop of the diamond what if they were trying to save the sky kids that they used to be that where up there?
Exactly. And since ALL draw breath from starlight, the Eden diamond shattering was cataclysmic. This was what caused the kingdom to perish.
I assumed the winged light was the light of the King, right before they died
Because my ongoing theory is that winged lights are strong memories of the sky kids who got petrified in Eden and our job including returning the elder spirits back to their home in the stars, that was not part of our mission to see if the kids we show up your act of selflessness and save the other sky kids even though we were not directed to
That's the kicker. This is where things get interesting. In a previous update, tutorial text was updated to refer to the first Winged Light in the Isle as a "Lost Memory". The Shattering memory poems mention a "spirit being sundered in the break" and "holding memory of all that was lost in the final moment of shattering".
What spirit? Whose memories?
Well, we just might have the answer.
Do you spill the beans please
Lemme guess, King? Also known as Prince, Eden Elder, Storm, One, and a billion other names?
Probably
Ushering Stargazer in the Isle: Memory plays out of them chasing after a falling star that turns out to be a child WHO
looks just like the child we hug in the void after perishing in Eden WHERE
there is a light mural showing a glowing figure holding a diamond aloft on the Eden mountain surrounded by spirits kneeling in reverence WHICH
parallels the final mural in the Cave of Prophecy.
That was unexpected
What is the knowledge that we learn in the vault of knowledge is that we are the king well more of a fraction of them
Cave of Prophecy mural shows a golden child being led into the cave, passing the trials the spirits could not, winning the favor of the elemental prophets, bestowing these favors to the elders, the elders using the favors to their realms' advantage, and the child being taken up the mountain of Eden.
Ah, the “we are the king” theory? I love that a lot
that one's super interesting
The Vault elder shows us a light mural for each realm's constellation, but introduces a 7th one. A crown that blossoms into a crowned figure holding an orb (the sun? idk) under a mountain with a structure that looks like Eden.
Which also happens to be the constellation for our friend constellation
Could also be meeting that we are all connected by the same person, because we are all one of the same?
NOW if we take the presence of the King's emblem at the very top of the Eden diamond in the elder Shattering memory to be a symbol of the King's presence at that point in time, then the appearance of not one but two children as one winged light atop the Eden diamond...
[BREATHES]
could be the first point of shattering.
YES THIS ONE i feel like that's not only showing us there's meant to be 7, and where we're going next, but also in some way who we are or who we have to save
And what if after the shattering we fall into the home the events of sky takes maybe immediately after the shattering? Or at least maybe a month or so
Where the King splinters in both soul and body. Into a zillion Lost Memories.
Which is why we have to gather the Lost Memories, impart them onto what little physical form is left as statues on Eden, and ascend to see the King in what meagre physical form that can muster in the void.
That's my theory.
What is the reason why we petrify when we lose our light is because it’s a last case protection system reserving what’s left of the body as a defense mechanism?
We're children of the light. What else are we to do when we run out of light?
I mean, we are the quite literally forms of a star or a fraction of a star
the assumption is that a sky kid is make out of clay with a fire core, so if the flame goes out, the clay hardens. and when Eden is a place completely devoid of warmth or light, it hardens fast
assumption based on concept art*
What are the same can be said about the ancestors!
Ok I’m sorry I just thought of something if we made out of clay remember I run face first into the ground I can’t help but to imagine our face just being flattened XD
it's a theory that works without concept art as a backup though
Do you have the concept art so I can probably get a better idea of what this is?
All draw breath from starlight. We get ascended candles after flying to The Light, and by bringing it to the spirits we can ascend them and help them reach The Light as well.
The Elders are interesting, though. Something I noticed a couple months ago with the Prairie elder is, they have a similar habit as Sky kids. When you pull out a candle to illuminate a stranger or burn something, you can see the light in your Sky kid's torso is gone while the candle is out. When you put the candle away, the Sky kid touches their chest to restore the light.
When you give light to the Prairie Elder, the elder brings it to their chest and lights up. None of the other elders do this. The other elders put the light on their tool or equipment before they light up.
IDK if this is a coincidence, but I have to wonder if this shows Sky kids and Elders have more in common than we could know.
Returning back to the concert real quick we got a timeline for the kingdom of sky “ runaway” we see the spirits coming into the land in “ all Is soft” We see them harvest materials. “ the seed.” we see the Battle and “through the eyes of a Child” we see the aftermath of Eden
yeah, I think that it’s a pretty fair assumption to think skykids are some form of inanimate material. I like to think they may be formed out of some kind of asteroid-like material, clay, and some good old magic
edit: oh gross the cooldown
it's interesting to review the concept art and find what did make it into the game, ponder about what might make it in as time passes
i just wanna say that i reached the idea that they're clay on my own without knowing concept art mentioned it, and the fire core is from other people talking about it
which is why i say it works even when you don't attach it to concept art
and also concept art can still be helpful! for example the one chart about the shape language and color in Sky, that’s still very easily applicable for the ingame content
Hey look at this I think this is what the sky kids supposed to look like after they turned to stone in Eden or it could be a previous sky kids that sadly perish in Eden
no, because that's not finalized.........................
I mean their core is a literal candle, not depicted in concept art
Just food for thought
it’s not finalized but it still does look like ingame content though? the “child ghost” resembles more how one looks like when their flame gets extinguished, albeit more detailed
i'm done... please don't treat this like a lore vending machine, i can't even keep up thanks to the cooldown
So wait when we light candles with other kids we are sharing our souls
all I’m saying is that it’s not so simple as “never use the concept art to theorize because it’s not canon.” some of the pieces of concept art detail things that are really clearly still applied in the game. such as this one, which demonstrates the color and shape language you can see in the game today still very well:

i said i'm done. please dont' @ me, please stop replying. i can't deal with this
goodness gracious alright
it's not you, it's the other person who's asking additional questions while i'm still trying to reply to their previous one. that's what i'm frustrated with. see you folks in a couple weeks ig
you don't have to give an explanation, if you want to be done with a conversation you just have to say that you're done and then leave
well anyways since we’re talking about concept art. look at this absolute thingus i love this guy
harpy eagle???? hello??
the fact the name is "Daleth"
I will add that I totally get that overwhelmed feeling, Magpie; I deal with it a lot myself too, especially when multiple people are pinging you at once and it feels like they aren’t really listening to you or what you’re saying. What helps me is usually to either ignore them (easier said then done), eat (I forget to do this a lot and get hangry, which makes it worse) or take a breather and come back when the chat is quieter. Hope you feel better soon; I hate the ‘brain is full of bees’ feeling this situation brings, and I’d love to see you back shortly.
if anyone asks who Daleth is i’ll just send them this
True
Why are they lip biting at me
LOL
i also have the same problem sometimes (which is why i only want pings in the help chat, because it's waayyy more chaotic there and i need to remember which questions i've answered)
i normally just dip out of the chat with no indication and go somewhere else or go into the game to look for something we were talking about
Whenever I start getting the Feral Creature Trapped in Busy Walmart feeling, I leave for like an hour (or until chat is quieter), think over what I want to say more and then return
early krill were definitely more whale-like
i really think it’s cool how these designs got repurposed into the treasure reef leviathan
I also do understand y'all, it's like a feeling when someone's pinging it's like you have to answer that or it'll seem rude or mean
As a bipolar and Adhd kid i understand y'all
I hope Magpie is doing okay !
iirc that’s fanart
I was wrong
nah that’s from Zhao
i'm going through the concept art right now and that's where i got that image
This is pure speculation but I have a suspicion Dusk was designed when whales were 100% planned to be uncorrupted krill. Whether that continued to the final version of the game though, I’m not sure
It connects that, that the krils are corrupted versions of whales
Sky whales i meant
There's also a concept art determining that aswell, how krills are just whale skeletons
this guy is my friend he’s giving me a hug
Okay that is def fanart, it gets passed off as concept sometimes
Idk tbh, i saw it somewhere last year as far my memory tells me
Ah yeah I know which one that is I remember seeing the speed paint awhile back
this is an interesting one, boat - pot - diamond - manta - whale/"krill" bones
A whale dies and darkness eats the carcass, leaving the bones that reanimate? That’s fanart
Concept constellations
timelapse of darkness eating a whale body now like an irl whalefall is something i need
i like how prairie is the only one that didn't change drastically
Oh huh, the constellations here line up with what each elder’s mask is supposed to resemble! (Although Valley’s is kind of up in the air; it could be a manta, but it seems more like a simple athletic mask). I wonder if their constellations used to match their masks and only got changed later
crabs scuttling around on the bones
I have an art WIP of an overgrown whalefall do you guys want to see it, it might help sate your whalefall needs for awhile
boat, pot, diamond, manta, skeleton or krill
I would guess whale skeleton because, if I’m right on this, I already know that Dusk’s mask is meant to resemble a whale face so it would fit
i like these little bird-shaped friends. the current mantas so look better though
The birds are straight up adorable
Ok question, do you think Aurora became an elder?
I don't think so
Because she does seem to be powerful. Do you think she could become a goddess of the sky kids or our Patreon? I mean, she just casually teleport us into orbit
Hm, that might be questionable
From what I could tell, she does seem to resonate with the sky kids and she just able to teleport us so Shapeshift us into anything that she wants
I see her more as a storyteller and stuff in a way
Plus I don’t think tgc would make a real life person an elder in their storyline and try to tie her in like that
I think she teleports us into orbit as much as she teleports us onto the battlefield.... I see that more like magic-induced visions, and less physical teleportation, as part of her storytelling
So she’s not exactly teleporting us into orbit, just more of a spiritual teleportation
She's like a caretaker, but most importantly she makes everyone feel accepted
OK real clicker question does magic exist in sky?
I see
I can see that, if it was a physical teleportation then she has the ability to turn us into butterfly, fish, and mantas
Hm just remmeberd somthing I need to double check HOLF on
it's also worth noting that when the coliseum is dark after we've all been "ascended" there's only one, big light, that falls back down in it's place. if all of that actually happened for each and every one of the skykids, there would be thousands
the Season of Enchantment crew says yes
I think that the concert might be done in the perspective of some divine being or natural force observing the destruction, but as for Aurora herself it's hard to say how canon her appearance is or what significance she holds aside from storytelling through her music.
The same could be said for the little prince
Yeah? We have spells, we have coloured lights that can help grow grass, water, fire. It’s a soft magic system instead of a fully concrete one but there’s definitely magic.
I know I just wanted to hear what people say >:)
Think ash said the the prince could be anything we want them to be? Like an imaginary friend I remember them saying once?
i feel like Eden's ability to kill you is just darkness magic
we have a whole spectrum of Light magic, and then one type of Dark magic
Yeah here it is
Yaya thankyou! I tried looking their messages up but discord was being funky
i think you can have a dream and make a real friend
||typing that out made me actually cry oh my god||
Okay yaya this is from the update notes of what’s to come for this years days of bloom!
If aurora teleporting us was physical then why are we able to do it again here after we meditate? Plus u remmeber when they grab one of the hands of the spirits the room flashes
So ya I’m actually seeing of like most of the concert being while not fully in our heads, sort of it a state of we’re there but not truly there you know?
Then again would this whole sequence shown here just be our skykids having a very in depth lucid dream in a way
(for the bloom notes)
I'm content to believe some things in sky just defy explanation
like anything in vault I'm not touching with a ten foot pole lore-wise. One door leads to a desert that may or may not be real, the next door down the hall underground leads to a room in a starry void. It's out of my pay grade
i just. the more i remember the bloom event bringing back the butterflies the more i hope the next thing in Prairie or Valley brings us the mantas. (ESPECIALLY a whole season)
Yaya fair enough! I just find it cool though for this, because I totally get tgc wanting to not let a whole mechanic being wasted and used one time and finding ways to use it again.
Just find it super intersting that for us to do this we have to meditate. And that skykids can turn themselves into i guess figurative light creatures for a short while
Ooo I wonder if this can expand to skykids being able to shapeshift in a way, those skykid oc’s with animal legs and actual animal features could happen
This is my thoughts on skykid, ancestor, and elder anatomy
You could show me a room in vault that's bigger on the inside and I'd go "yeah that checks out"
you also had to meditate at a circle when the concert was in Live to get to nighttime coliseum
so it's probably that meditation makes you lucid dream. the elder cutscenes would also fit into this i think?
Can survive a 50ft drop, collide into walls at 100km/h with a single ding yet crumbles when a lil crab or rock hits then, oh and can astral project to be a light creature for just a short while
Oo right, I feel like the elders cutscene is a little weird cuz I fully believe were actually there in maybe astral projection form? I see the elders being in a weird limbo state of dead but not completely dead
hellooooo doess eden have an elder
well technically there is like a elder “king” or whatever I think there was like a cave painting but I’m not sure where or if it’s still a thing
Oh wow sad they didn't focus more on him it seems very interesting I'd love to know
the king is shown directly in Vault's elder cutscene (as a mural)
They’re weird, like they’re meant to be super vague on purpose so I don’t think we’ll learn anything about them for a long while
the other murals just hint at it and could be really any sky kid
aw
so uh
do the spirits have genders or distinctive gender roles or what
none of the ancestors have a concept of gender i think. everyone here uses they/them pronouns for the spirits regardless of one being masculine or feminine or not
Ktjn said this, basiclly nobody in sky has gender but folks at first glance assign gender to them for simply how they look
the ingame text also refers to spirits with they/them
iirc also in gendered languages titles that change with gender dont ascribe based on presentation, like theres masculine looking spirits with feminine titles
they're definitely designed to be gender-ambiguous on purpose
i tend to assign genders to my sky kid OCs but it's just because it's easier for me to remember and talk about multiple at the same time if they have different pronouns, i've never done that with the in game characters
Yaya know cannoneer is referred to i think a he in Russian I believe and she on Spanish, which is definitely done on purpose as I know there’s other spirits who also follow this pattern in different gendered languages
cannoneer is also like, one of the ones that could be either depending on the way you look at them. some people will say that the long hair makes them look feminine, but others will say that the way the hair is styled makes them look masculine
The gender stealer
the gender ever.
spirits dont have gender bc cannoneer eated them all
Guess the twins kinda fall into this too. I’ve seen alot of folks unfortunately go “boy twin
and girl twin
” or see them both as two brothers/sisters which confuses me a lil with the whole lack of gender thing mentioned eariler
all the people who are like "so are you going for a boy or girl look" and i am legally obligated to respond with "yes" because none of the cosmetics have genders.
Yeah exactly!
Dress how you want, my skykid looks nothing like me and that’s the fun of it
the closest i get to the way i look is a hairstyle i only kind of had years ago so i'm very happy that no one will ever know
i just know i want the cute spiky hairstyle from my favorite blorbos. i don't care about anything else
Gois
I couldn't sleep after reading the lore😔. Didn't expect it turn that dark fr. I felt betrayed. .
Sky lore is like that
Goys. Have u noticed these language sfuffs (why I am able to send msg after 30 long sec) 😔😔
It's also there in praire.
Ya but there’s no offical translation for them sadly so we just have to wonder what they would even say
(Because of Cooldown)
These are highly sus goys. Plus why the cooldown. 😔
I dress up as you see in my profile picture
So we have time to read somebody’s message without drowning the others out if I’m right
I’d love to have a translation sheet for sky language but we unfortunately have nothing
one of them looks awfully power-diamond
I can give you the some of the stuff that I know
After reading the lore. I've been noticing alot 😭😭😭😭. I can't wait for for the animation movie of sky. Btw few days back i noticed alef's face in eden
Whoever's wrote the sky story and lore is the next isayama 😔 .
all of the elder's mask shapes are on the Eden door. the star shape above that bell could be the king or it could just be representing the diamond itself (which is more likely)
The star represents the sky kids
Thing is sky lore is just so open that it’s had to find anything concrete or “correct”, there’s like very few things that are set in stone when everything else can be taken to interpretation
we pretty much see no indication of gender roles as they exist IRL present in sky. even among the families, there are "grandparent" and "parent" regardless of how a spirit looks
I mean, we have grandma
There's a theory which says spirits were once animals. It makes me feel something uncomfortable
their name isn't grandma in game though! thats just a fan made nickname
Touché
Oh yeah I know there’s concept art of animal elders but those were scrapped obviously
C'mon goys. We can see some spirits having feminine bawdy. Like the scolding gorl and the ice skating gorl in village
I want the full tea to sky already . I remember not noticing the murals properly. And thinking it's nothing.
hey could you please not. say it like that.
well that’s your interpretation! the fact of the matter is that all spirits use gender neutral pronouns
body =/= gender
Yeah I mean based of this dev message it’s pretty clear body shapes don’t equal gender and that some folks put gender onto spirits just in first glance,
We'll. I ain't gon argue.
good!
I can't wait for the animation movie aaaa. . I hope to see more lore in next season
and the skater spirit is never called “skater girl” either ingame - just “the skater”
But the scolding spirit is called as scolding gorl if i remember properly
*scolding student
no, they are scolding student!
Ahhh . Okay oky. Okay fine goys fine . Bad memory
there’s a very concentrated effort to make sure that the spirit titles are gender neutral which I think is pretty neat
Soo. I wan kno like what's the story behind vault
what do you mean?
the belonging spirits are the best example of non-gendered names. They're all family, and it's the more feminine sparkler parent, more masculine pleaful parent, boogie kid, hairtousle teen, confetti cousin, and wise grandparent. the only one with a gendered term used for them is the guide being "grandma" and that's not even official
Vault. Any lore behind it . It doesn't look like a normal realm like other where civilization could exist. It looks like a place where all those diamond like thing were stored
yeah that’s the leading theory basically
personally, i don’t think it really matters what you call the spirits, he or she or they, it’s just for the sake of convenience
Don’t make me tap the sign
(This is about undertsle but still relevant)
lots of people in the server, especially fellow lorechatters, are on the nonbinary spectrum and we've had debates like this before
when the gender
If your Skykid had a home, where would it be located?
wind paths 😊
basement of abandoned laboratory
depends, Amander would prob settle in Forest and Naihho likes the mystical serenity of the Vault
area under prairie shrine. Fill it with pillows and blankets and snacks and also cool pebbles
…i have taken some time to think, and i’ve come to the conclusion that this hill isn’t worth dying on. i’m disengaging from the debate.
didn't need to ping me but good for you, I'm tired of discussing this for the 67th time
oh good to know microagressions still are tolerated here
It is called the Vault of Knowledge, and it seems to be exactly that: A storage for collecting and safekeeping knowledge. We see 'memory lanterns' which can store and project information and memories (and how those are created is actually shown in a mural in the Remembrance area: they seem to be directly recorded from ancestors' memories).
It was probably less of a residential area - not a town of any kind, not a natural community - but more like an ancient monastery, inhabited by mostly/solely by scholars who dedicated their life to collecting and preserving all this knowledge.
It is more or less implied that some of these areas might not be quite real anymore, though, but rather be mixed and distorted by the projections the vault casts through its floors and elevators, or perhaps the projecting magic of the lanterns has leaked and transformed the area.
Altair and Diabella would live in Citadel
Willow lives in elevated clearing
my vault character,, probably the repository?
there's other sky kids but i don't think there's many places they can actually live in the other realms (where would someone stay in Wasteland or Isle for instance)
honestly not surprised seein how big of a rug this place needs to sweep everything under n how spread thin moderation can be for the sheer amount of folks 💀

Hey all!
I was scrolling past earlier and wanted to clarify something that looks like it’s been somewhat misunderstood at times.
In our storytelling, we purposely do not announce what gender spirits and elders do or don’t have. We don't state their place on the gender spectrum, nor does the game say that they are canonically one thing or another or all of the above or none of the above. That is 100% up for each player to interpret however they like for whatever reason they like, and there is room for all interpretations on that matter. ❤️
I’ve seen that comment from Ktjn, posted two and a half years ago, shared out of context, often framed explicitly or implicitly as a canonical statement. However, our non-definition of this aspect of spirits’ identities is the same now as it has been since the game launched.
never realized it was so long ago because it's the same nickname and pfp they have now! we've needed a fresh clarification for a while
i still think it's wierd that people see spirits as having female or male bodies, i remember seeing a comment passing around about how the forest elder has feminine thighs for example, which was really uncomfortable ngl
Alternatively Rain could just have the t-girl swag
Like there's giving spirits a vague gender that may or may not be on the binary, and there's putting spirits in clear-cut binary boxes because they got a dress or long hair and justifying that it's a feminine body so they must be female
yea, like imagine being able to imagine gender among the vast gender spectrum and you stick to cisheteronormativity
The Elders pronouns are star/sun lol
I have a "feminine body" but I am the furthest thing from a girl one can possibly be. as Vela said, those sort of comments are gross
sorry for coming back to a conflict again but all this arguing wasn't done to impose headcanons, moreso to push back against people that still operate over rules we should have been emancipated from in this game
gendering a body type makes a lot of people uncomfortable (especially when applied to younger people, like an earlier message)
Obviously, it depends on the person, but I have recently realized that some people’s justifications for why they give spirits certain genders are usually more uncomfortable than the gender itself, which I don’t care about
or you could just imagine all Spirits as trans like one of my friends does. No trans boy or girl, just trans itself. They are the embodiment of transitioning.
Ah hello
Pioneer is a transmasc king
Now this is the kind of take I want to see in lorechat
yeah that’s more or less where my issue lies which is why whenever the topic comes up I try to say in as little words as possible that spirits have no distinct gender binary and all use neutral pronouns regardless of body shape or attire. it’s truly damn unfortunate how cisnormative some people’s mindsets still are and it makes me sad when the topic is brought up and someone comes in and brushes it off with “oh well this spirit is CLEARLY a girl just look at her.” and at that point I usually just throw my hands up and keep repeating my point until they leave
ok sorry for the ridiculous pic only one i got on hand but like. This fella? 🏳️⚧️
based
i never want to know the context for this image
ofjasdofljsadjdghsjl that's myine
A Spirit is a girl but in a 'girl help I am experiencing all the genders in existence and several more' kind of way
oh, yeah.
I made Dawn the Redeemer
it's even more grating when someone's tone is meant to demean others or shoot down their concerns but it's brushed off as them just offering their opinion
Whoa...my AI mind is blown!
skybot im going to dismantle you and turn you into a microwave
gender-affirming surgery
yeah that’s really grating. i usually try to just leave if it gets to that point
"it's just my opinion" okay and your opinion maintains cisnormative ideas that make it more difficult for anyone, cis or trans, to explore and feel comfortable in their gender
transmasc swag off the chartz
my brain still sees the spirits and gendered and anywhere else i actually do use more than they/them for quite a few of the spirits but here? i use them exclusively unless it's for the King/Prince, Little Prince, or Aurora. because the title of "king" or "prince" is masculine and Aurora is a real person that i believe uses female pronouns (i've tried looking it up but can't find the singer no matter what i ask google for
)
@fickle wing I've removed the image you posted. In a conversation about gender identity in the Sky server, the limits about discussing IRL treatments like hormone therapy are unclear even to moderators, but mixing in jokes about cats makes it much more questionable and potentially troublesome
I do wonder why some people here still give Elders clearly gendered pronouns, even when it’s stated multiple times that they don’t have genders
the babytalk is really patronizing- HELP
Several people are typing
one thing I will always be willing to discuss however is the concept of gender ROLES specifically because there’s evidence that just doesn’t exist at all in Sky regardless of if there are gender binaries
if I'm missing the meaning of a meme or some identity-affirming message, then I don't mind if you fill us in
sometimes the logic feels like the implication is that non-binary people aren’t allowed to have bodies too like
It's okay for people to refer to spirits (including elders) with gendered pronouns or gender neutral pronouns, for the reasons I mentioned in my earlier post
New hot take: Light is comprised of all the genders in existence and darkstone represents the cisnormative labels that drag us down. We have come to the kingdom of Sky to help the Spirits understand that there are more choices than boy and girl and bring them to Orbit so that they may partake of the Gender Fluid
Not the fender economy
hello hello can i ask what exactly about hrt makes it an iffy subject for the server /gen
I want to explain but I’m not really sure if this clears anything up
There’s a common joke in the transfem community about taking hrt to turn into a catg and this is an extension of that
I think the main issue raised was that people are really wierd about bodies
there's so much going on
ok ok so like. Folks like to hc forest elder as transfem right
and they were a funky lynx creature in concept art
put those together and you’ve got trans cat person
there is nothing wrong with mentioning hrt, but we like to protect everyone's privacy and safety. medication is often a very personal thing, so jokes about any kind of medication make us concerned
I dont genuinely have a problem with it myself, it does just suck when someone uses that kind of rhetoric to then like, argue or imply the appearance = gender thing, which doesn’t happen all the time! but when it does happen i try to report it
i come back to lore chat just to hang out and get hit with events like a truck in an isekai (sent to gender discourse dimension)
Same; it’s not the pronouns it’s the logic of “spirit has long hair they must be a woman” type deal
hopefully just the company's insistence that interpretation is up to individuals can be seen as affirmation of your feelings. appearance does not define any of us in a simple or binary way. so many of the purely cosmetic signals each of us employ are only done so because of and in service of social pressure
that wasn't a real prescription
I know it wasn't. but jokes about medication sometimes bring up whole areas of discussion that we have to be more careful with
this reminds me of bears
yeah
I try to deny that logic every time I see it come up by saying things like “well, a boy can wear a dress right? boys can have long hair right?” just to try and offer some further perspective. and if they get upset about that then i just bounce because clearly it’s not worth it lol. oop meant to reply to Salem
omg i love bears 💙
I kinda like jokes or lighthearted convos about medication cos it normalizes taking it, especially for conditions that are highly stigmatized
I say this in a /nm not looking for an argument way, just offering perspective
thank you for the explanation. my fear was that there was some transphobic or potentially phobic slant to a joke about hrt
maybe that message from sagomay could be pinned or something?
that way it doesn't get lost and we can use it as a reference point like the multiple times that "don't say anyone's theory is the canon of the story" is mentioned
yeah it’s alright Alex is was kind of vague without the explanation. always good to be careful in a Big Discord Server
oh swag, a lorechat pin, that happens once every 7000 years
i think sun bears n moon bears r my favorite sun bears are like little freaks and moon bears r so soft looking
BASED
I think my favorite character looks amazing when people draw him with long hair, and I headcanon him as being into stuff like makeup, so idk what the big deal is about boys wearing dresses and having long hair.
I wouldn't mind lying in the sun on a bear's belly
Can we all just... Stop arguing. The game is literally built in a way where we can attach whatever gender to whatever spirit you want. If I want the Prairie spirit to be a buff girl in a cloak, I can. If I want it to be a buff dude in a cloak I can.
Jumping on people because they say a spirit is male, female, or neither is not okay.
hello we are talking about bears
my son gort he has 50 diseases
Draconys i encourage you to back read, we’re not talking about doing any of that. simply expressing our reasons why it feels uncomfortable sometimes is all
I love u gort
this guy grills mean burger
YEAH!!!!
im built like a sun bear 💀 2d lookin animal
and
Like, 6 messages back from mine, the argument was still going on.
wasn't really an argument, we're having a discussion
On a side note I just found a boat in Forest that says 'Damp Headmaster Dumbledore'
you must have been misunderstanding the tone then, we were just discussing our points
sloth bears are great too they remind me of prairie elder w the ears
oh my god ???
I come back and see lots of bears? what's happening, is this still on the same topic, or lore?
my god they do
Day's fursona
Nah we just really love bears
for clarification, the point of contention isn't so much that people headcanon a spirit as masculine or feminine - we all live in a society after all, and even I as an agender person sometimes catch myself thinking about some spirits in gendered terms
the point of contention was/is that people use "buff masculine build" as evidence that they're clearly male, and a slim, curvy build as evidence that they're clearly female, and that rubs people here the wrong way
the argument stopped being an argument and back to an actual discussion when the devs stepped in
tempted to just start assigning the elders bears
elder fursona discussion starts now. day is a sunbear, forest is a lynx, what else
assign the elders a bear please, surely there's enough
Dawn turkey vulture
Twins artic foxes
Night would have a humansona
i think itd be silly if the valley elders were penguins
they slide around
would it look like this

Dusk is a puffin because I think they would make a very cute yet miserable puffin
tethcore
vault elder is a panda because they're soft and sweet
tho panda would also fit for prairie elder, for being just round and great for falling over
vault elder petition (in part because of polar nights)
signed
i have to run to another meeting goobye 😭 enjoy bears
Jash umpscare
why do i feel like the valley twins as an animal would be some kind of bird like the Eclectus parrot
wasteland gives me grizzly energy ngl
ASH IS BASED ACTUALLY THATSA GOOD PULL
petition for wasteland to be that one tiny cat the size of a leaf (i forgor the name)
RUSTY SPOTTED CAT
I can accept this
biggest elder has the smallest fursona.
NO WAY THAT MAKES SENSE TOO BC IT'S COLD !
fighting for my life trying to figure out who’d be a spectacled bear
i headcanon that wasteland really likes tiny things. like little creatures and stuff like that but they’re worried about hurting them because of their size so they’ll just sit there as still as possible while a little baby manta flutters around
wasteland elder
YEAH
wasteland and a skykid
can someone post one of those werewolf images so I can call it One
whwea that one image of sah from tsadi's prespective hold on
Yo hru gaymers
HAHA
thats REALLY deep fam
ty krii
also. Did you know that
tibetan blue bear
Skybot feels us
Dusk
Fluffy…..
why it so ears
Funny time to drop in
thats a dog
oh oh! ask me, ask me!
That's not blue 😢/j
the range with them is so silly sometimes like look at this dude
if bears dangerous than why ears
OH BEAST
Yes 🌞
Where did the spirits get their clothing material from? I'm too shy to ask them..
a lot of animals called “blue” are usually gray, blue is rare in the wild if it isn’t to signify poisonous
I am going to elect to ignore the previous nonsense this is much more fun
i'm gonna start dying from laughter with all these weird looking bears
a friend
Flight crew prob shaved wooly mantas to get their fluffy clothing, keeps them warm despite the wind
A fren ♥️
we gotta go DEEPER
if each elder was a wildcat:
Dawn: Scottish wildcat
Day: Pallas’s cat/manul (they turn into rocks to camouflage and are the same shape)
Rain: bobcat
Sunset: cheetahs
Dusk: fishing cat
Night: margay
Eden: rusty spotted cat
blue dogs are usually a shade of dark gray that happens to have blue iridescence! sometimes the "blues" even show up as brown in the right lighting
Shape
I spend much time thinking about my kitty assignments I hope u enjoy
the expert
man sun bears though rlly just take the cake for goofy lookin
Also this was a Weird time to drop in but i wanted to say hi anyways
I’ll come back once i have like. Sky lore thoughts again
like. What is this beast
sunset fits so well
runners up that were also considered were: saying Dawn was a serval (the shape is right but I think Scottish wildcats are better) and orange cat that eats trash and was found in a dumpster (for Eden)
SO REAL, ORANGE CAT EDEN REAL TO ME
Behold a man
thinks of that one drawing you did of them looking so happy after exploding eden or omthing
I DEBATED VERY HARD OVER ORANGE CAT FOR THEM eventually decided to keep the wildcat theme going though
what orange cat
Sky kingdoms greatest mistake: made Eden Diamond look too much like laser pointer
this orange cat
