sometimes the only way out is through, I reckon
Probably not true but the first thing I thought of was this
it's probably almost definitely related to the winged light in the same place in isle maybe possibly
that's just me leveling up WL /j
(VERY important event they had to make a mural of)
hey everyone 😊
i cant chat right now but where is the new #vault-of-socials post? it doesnt look like anywhere in the repository
new area? 👀👀
wonder if they're gonna update the area. usually there's a mid-season update
the bell i am looking so hard
ZOOM AND ENHANCE
Bells attract mantas
Ult summons cosmic mantas

The ult probably brings back dead memories of spirits when you go near them
piggybacks boat… I can’t believe vault is the British museum ☹️
(I stole this joke from Dark, I think they deserve credit for it)
Since the bell and the boat are both things you’d find more commonly in other realms, namely Isle or Prairie, it reminds me of a theory I have about enchantment where they were like a golden record of Isle leaving for vault to preserve isle culture and history and whatnot when things were getting bad, but maybe these are from boats who actually got there
are we allowed to headcanon the scholars as having a british accent now /hj
You can but I think Vela might kill you
Jean Fire emblem
Do you think crabs could be tamed?
they should be
Yes
I wonder why everyone are spirits, is everyone really gone? No one alive?
i wonder... i am looking at the wounded warriors mask, are the "flesh and blood" of sky people made of light crystals?
Wish they could
we don;t know what living ancestors were composed of. there's two – Vela's lanternfolk headcanon wherein ancestors were like skykids, vessels of light but heavier, and the flesh-and-blood thought that I hold. there's evidence for both but I don't have the time for that right now.
I wrote a speculation about Wounded Warrior's injury here: #lore-discussion-spoilers message
ngl I've been wonder that but in terms of the elders... are they dead? what are they doing or where are they when you're not visiting them in orbit or at their temples?
Personally, I think they’re not exactly dead, as they can’t really ‘die’, but right now they’re the closest to death they can experience. We don’t know for sure where they are currently, but I have a theory they got sucked inside the Eden Diamond, which would mean that when we’re not there, they’re basically in the same locations we meet them at, just alone. What they do when we’re not there is unknown, but probably trying to pass the time in whatever ways they can… maybe crafting or reading, if they have the tools, thinking, sleeping, etc. i like to think they can all summon each other to interact as well
I think they’re stuck in essentially limbo, with no way of getting out
how is it that we can summon then in orbit then?
unless im totally misreading
Ah that’s the snag
I think that they have the power to manifest in Orbit, but they can’t fully rejoin the Light and cross over
I have been trying to figure that out but am very sleepy right now. My best guess was that the beam they all make in their cutscenes helped them escape to orbit similar to how we do, but then how Night summons them in their cutscene is the weird bit… unless they’re projected in nights cutscene or whatever but that would make me sad
this could also work! I’m unsure of the exact mechanics as to how it would, but soft magic system and all that or whatever
Honestly the Elders and the full extent of their capabilities always have me assuming “they can just do that.” They seem to fulfill godlike roles and they themselves inhabit a quasi-spirit plane, which is a pretty similar description of Orbit actually. It seems like they may have been trapped and that by filling out their constellations they’re able to achieve a sort of freedom where they aren’t so bound but I do think they are kind of essential parts of the world which might make them unable to fully ascend and reincarnate.
Like, they can manifest in the Orbit area but can’t cross through the doorway to reincarnation
doesn't tac also have something about anatomy
heyyhhh what if the quasi spirit plane the elders are trapped in is the inside of the Eden Diamond like the shattering memories
Too me I think that they’re stuck in a way, can’t truly die but aren’t truly alive either, and when we give them light they seem to regain their form and recharge. I feel like when we complete a constellation they then have enough power to be in orbit, same for the masks I think vela mentioned how to masks to them are regaining their strength
Depends, do you mean the crystal one or the egg horror one?
so kinda like limbo then ?
i didnt know there ws two! either works
Didn’t send for some odd reason but crystal one, Can apply to elders too
And the egg horrors (mind the tags)
haven't had much of a chance to participate lately but wanted to wish everyone a good night or day 😊
if the glowy kids we collect are past sky kids does it mean that we're like consuming their soul in order to fly higher
You could think of it like that way: But Wing Buffs, which fulfill the same purpose, seem to come from somewhere else.
Salem had this amazing winged light theory here about what they could be I adore it
not really a serious lore question but since everyone is dead except for the sky kids then who put the crabs on a stick on top of the graveyard boneyard?
It was probably left there after an ancestor (who I assume is Pleading Parent) died
Are dark creatures a natural evolution?
i believe it could be the normal big creatures who got their light taken by the ancestors and are now dark (as the name says)
so it could be a natural evolution from a non-natural action(?
valley being mostly slope is probably an analogy for something
It's all downhill from the peaks ?
I noticed altitude in Sky seems to reflect the emotional ups and downs most of the time, see how both forest and wasteland are both below the area preceding them
Morning
I'll read once I'm fully awake
According to what I saw with the end of little prince's story in his own season, he described Eden as smth painful n this description feel like we're dying in order to reborn ( so as the cutscene of Eden told us) but do someone know more about the change btw our self in Eden and our self reborn ? Or theory about it ?
Don't think so
I like to think we leave behind a shell since that's what reborn skykids we saved emerge from !
I recall feeling that Eden is like, where you let go of the material world and leave it behind to join with the stars, at least for a while. For a moment you look exactly like any other skykid, a silhouette of light that emerged from the shell left behind atop that mountain...
The ancestors could stay in the stars because they escaped the cycles of deaths and rebirth (see samsarah) but we return to the world because we didn't finish whatever we left there.
I see, thx for the explanation :) I Hope we'll find more detail about this part of the lore tho ( ngl all the lore is so interesting )
I'm just explaining what I see, if your interpretation is different I'm down to hear it
What are the stars like? Are there other realms that TS’s visit?
Looking at the recent events like fortune, feast, and last years bloom and also and saplings does give a good indicator they do
wait- I never thought of that
probably because there isn’t a lot of stuff to do in isle
Isle spirits, two player door, and then 2 generic quests
The reason is likely TGC wanting isle to remain as the simple tutorial area you only ever visit the first time you're playing and then for completion purposes, which is similar to the reason why Eden has no spirits or quests, being the realm you just go to once to experience the ending and then for completion (tho now you can get ACs from shards so not anymore)
give us more isle content pls
Real
its annoying to try to get the right chibi size but would get it i have spend many of eden candles to buy the height resizing bottles but still non giving the height i wanted
hello? are you sure this is the right chat for this
next time #questions-and-help but the only way to be chibi size is to wear a chibi mask. you can't achieve chibi size with resize spells
Yeah exactly
Gameplay wise I think it might be confusing for a moth to see these players zipping around and seeming to light things they can’t see since they can’t see quests after completing eden
While in Prarie with more to explore they mostly don’t question or notice other players doing quests and so on
As much as I love isle it’s the tutorial realm more of, keeping things simple for moths is more important than mixing them up with quests
Plus if there was a slapping they couldn’t see they might be confused why many stay and move on for example
I actually oppose to this- Eden is also the “ending area” but they still found a way to make it useful. Isle’s one of the prettiest realms and sidestepping it by saying “it’s the tutorial realm” won’t help; if experienced players don’t visit Isle then moths will only find other moths there instead of a mix of moths and older players.
The idea of it being a newbie only area is kinda sidestepped with constellation gates, adding new areas to Isle will only help it if it’s locked behind a gate, since it will incentivize moths to think “oh, that’s a cool area, I should think of going there later”
for what it's worth it is actively a tutorial for most of the game mechanics (including constellation gates!)
additionally, is finding older players a requirement? I got through the game well enough without help
I do agree it's very pretty and wish there was more stuff there
Yaya, isle is simple enough for a moth to manage on its own while also showing the mechanics to come and learn to.
Reason I see more moths needing a guide in prarie thsn isle is for that reason. Bigger area and more spirits. Yeah there’s a seasonal area and other spirits to relive, but after completing the game you have a more understanding as the entire game is open for you to explore
Whilst if you mix quests with isle you’d have too many people, can get distracted and worry if your on the wrong path and why you can’t see somthing they see and would ultimately break the immersion of trying to get into the game too. While if quests are in Prarie you don’t really notice if there’s quests since there’s so much stuff to find and explore
Less is more
imo it also kinds helps isle have that strange empty quiet beauty about it. i think that having prophecy take place there and nothing else sort of adds to the special vibe.
they're gonna put something else there eventually haha right
I love isle so much, its lore and vibes and everything associated with it are right up my alley. I hope they add more seasonal areas to it eventually; I can see it having lots of boats to travel to seasonal areas offshore (think like how you get to treasure reef or forgotten ark)
the only problem being that moths might get Super Lost
Feel like they’ll do like what they did for prophecy. Hidden away mostly, I didn’t even find the cave for awhile when I first started playing, took maybe a week before I came across it
I've been playing this game on and off for about two years (by the light it's been so long) and I still get lost really easily so I can't imagine it would be easy for new players
I do like isle and the desert environment of it, I just wish we had more to do with it. Like seasons or lore wise
Grassland isle my beloved
even if the seasonal entrances aren't hidden away, constellation gates have been used to prevent new moths from entering areas they aren't ready to go to
although fwiw enchant and abyss both don't have any, and you get there by boat
To be fair both boats also don’t show up till after you completed eden, abyss also has another mechanic to be discover when ark is pretty desolate and straightforward
i feel like i could navigate prarie by sound alone
take the blindfold skykid challenge
honestly i kind of already do it sometimes to avoid migraines from the dreaded bloom lighting in certain areas
Most of the constellation gates that require you to backtrack in Isle block seemingly mundane places like tiny caves. It would be incredibly cool for moths to see a large, elaborate seasonal area and make a mental note to backtrack to it.
See that’s the thing, they’ll go straight for it
There’s a difference between Wasteland empty and Isle empty. Wasteland is designed really well because of the sheer openness and flatness that makes traversing it feel like a journey, multiple points of interest and splitting paths (that are blocked off so you can’t get lost when you’re a moth) and hints that point to something greater happening.
Isle has none of this, although I like the realm’s aesthetic it doesn’t mean it should be devoid of places for curious explorers. Even Forsaken City, the first “tutorial” level of Celeste, has a secret B-side.
Most moths go through the game linearly
Most do, not me who got sidetracked every 5 minutes
it would be behind a loading zone tho so how much would they see
True, but it’s not like a constellation-blocked seasonal area would be a detriment to moths
if the moths are led astray, not my problem, they will survive /hj
I somhow managed to skip graveyard cuz I could take the shipwreck shortcut, so going astray paid off
The children yearn for the wilderness
I think isle is awesome already (not biased) but it would be even cooler if there was more little nooks and some more spirits within it for me to hang out within and get attached to
Maybe moths should be led astray on purpose, lost unattended children are part of the Isle aesthetic after all
wawa woowoo
Vela was summoned by discussions of children left abandoned to the wilderness cause it reminded them of their lightseeker blorbos, how sweet
Hey do you guys know what 8 different National securities and the second season of Sky have in common?
i wasnt paying attention, just showing up to say hi
gonna buy milk now, bye
They’re all Letseekers
Jut like a dad
Moths should explore and get lost — sure, they shouldnt get caught in spots they can’t get out of (looking at Santuary Islands), but they should feel free to wander wherever they please and relish the world at their own pace, not get thrown on the production line and come out exactly the same.
🍄 Hi Lorechat! Is it okay if I post my Eden HCs here? I nearly exceeded Discord's nitroless messaging limit and its a wall-text basically 😭... Its not even finished yet-
Yea headcanons are fine as long as you mark them as headcanon
🍄 Alright thank you!

🍄 Alef is Resh's son, who sees Lamed/Vault as his mother figure. And due to them being the closest in terms of realms they get to visit often! Well, Alef only. We all saw the concept arts of the Elders where RESH IS LIKE A SKYSCRAPER
🍄 Posting the hcs one by one because, a massive wall-text
🍄 As soon as corruption hits, the two Eden Elders felt it. And it bothered them- a lot. When Krills start to emerge it was like 35% of the corruption happening to their well-beings. Dark water is around 23% and while dark crabs [considering some crabs in Sanctuary and the cooked crabs in GWL] are at 10% and no one really took notice at first.
🍄 When Golden Valley [pre-Wasteland] got attacked by the darkness [this happens before and during Season of Flight bc. Y'know. Unlocking stuff.] The Eden Elders were already in so much pain due to the corruption. It slowed down, thankfully! But the corruption was around 75% taking over.
🍄 Before the corruption, Eden's path was considered to be beautiful, heavenly! Think of it like Prarie and VoT combined [minus the snow and more plants]. You know that one almost broken building at the first wl in Eden? It was supposed to be like that one where GWL Crabs are getting cooked, white pristine walls. Cobblestone flooring and yea! Like a little stopover for the Sky Kids to meet Resh which that particular area they're resting is still Alef's territory.
🍄 As for the 2nd part of Eden, its Resh's territory! It was like Alef's area but more pristine and heavenly details. Flowers everywhere. Nature everywhere. Collums and pillars! The pipe before the Krill area is supposed to be like a little overgrown, then that area is supposed to be for the mantas and jelly fish. Inside the 2nd pipe it was supposed to be a tower. Climbing up and you get to the area before wl cave, it would have golden path then the wl cave, being wl cave but not broken, no water existing there
🍄 I'm struggling to type this out 😭
🍄 In the main Eden area, huge white collumns and stone-bricks [look at Minecraft block] as flooring. There resides Resh. Because he's really tall he just sits there, on his throne.
🍄 During the corruption process, the two Eden Elders sat there. Restless. They started to snap at people and get angry at the tiniest mistakes.
🍄 Season of Shattering, well. Shattered the Eden Elders. The corruption basically took over as Resh decided to take the form of the Diamond in the main Eden area, the area was completely destroyed. Even rocks from the ceiling still falls to this day due to the height and size of the roof.
🍄 And as we all know, Vault of Knowledge is the closest realm to Eden. Lamed hears the screams of pain from Alef and Resh. Same with Gwl but less-loud. As further the realms are, the less screams they hear. Tiny screams at VoT
🍄 Eventually, Elders had a meeting on "Hey this is getting bad and moths are going into Eden what do we do" they decided on the 20 wls requirement to go there. But even Sah & Mekh thinks its a little bit low and asked for 75, but the decision was final.
🍄 So yea anyways that's the headcanons my fingers are dead from typing all of that it feels like playing fnf all perfect combo moment
That’s certainly a in depth headcannon!
🍄 Thank youuu
these are super cool thanks for sharing!

What realm is your Skykid from?
TREASURE REEF I CRAWLED OUT OF THE SEA
This fish got legs
moth who overshot and landed right in the water emerging sopping wet and confused as hell
Straight desert (this is an inside joke)
🍄 Went into H.F, came out as a Mushroom Moth/hj
never venture into the straight desert…
Dw i came out and i was fine 🎉
🍄 When you said straight desert I imagined an image of the Starlight Desert with the Hetero flag ontop of it at 50% opacity 😭😭😭
NOOOO
Straight desert is peoperganda, have you SEEN gloat?
The rose’s REAL agenda

this is why she had to die. sad!
i swear sometimes a mod types through skybot
🍄 I'm betting my entire bank account that its true/j
I think if i was a skykid I’d run around in either Isle or Wasteland (probably the first) all day and have the time of my life
I’d vibe in Forest or Vault, Isle when I am dissociating
using the tower in cave of prophecies like a cat tree
🍄 I'd be in Forest, just sitting ontop of the mushrooms and earning the nickname "Mushroom Moth"
Salem scraping xeir claws at the prophecy door begging to be let in

if i was a skykid id go to eden to listen to The Horrors. and also hang out with the elders
🍄 Skybot its time to take your medicine 🥰/j
Do you think light creatures are scaled? 🤔
Depends
maybe! I’ve always appreciated how the skykid’s capes have a scale pattern when recharging with light because it reminds me how the wings of butterflies and moths are actually made up of tiny scales, but not sure about the mantas and stuff like that they seem like they’d be Smooth
You hug a manta and they slip away
🍄 Reaally smooth
🍄 Sea Pancakes

id love to see scaled light creatures in the game though. light snake <3
I’d love that
🍄 New area in GWL: Season of the Abyss part 2 but its with Dark Snek
I feel like whales might have scales somewhere. they remind me of coelacanths
I pet a light creature and their scales Can do those reverse sequin pillow designs

🍄 I wanna see Mushroom Land in H.F soon, like bro I'd be really happy and the mushrooms in different sizes and new creatures [ahem TGC, Butterfly Call please./j]
I can only imagine a butterfly call as being even tinier sounding than the baby manta call. Just like
e
crying and sobbing i want friendly light snakes in wasteland who occasionally pop out of the sand to recharge you. theyre friends
AGREED
🍄 What if light snakes can get detected by krills
I have always loved how most of the larger animals in sky are always really heavily inspired by ocean animals it makes me :)
sky is right whales do belong in the clouds
love it when media has flying whales
🍄 i finallh did Straight Dessert that I had in mind 💀💀..
give us more creatures pleas
ehhh the current brainrot is probably from isle or maybe valley, unsure tho
i have too many writing projects shfjdjfjjd, where am i going to squeeze in oc lore

kid named ao3:
do you guys think spirits actually have names like instead of pleading parent or wtv, i have a theory that spirits actually do have names but sky kids just gave them "names" based off of their spirit memory, not saying that they have bad names but that's just my theory
I know people who give them names
It would make sense for skykids to give spirits how they give other skykids; but then again many children refer to things as common nouns
Hmm, needs more crabs
They probably have names like we irl have names, but either they don’t remember their names or won’t give them to skykids, or skykids generally prefer the double name monikers for the spirits.
I have given them names for fics cos I’m sure during the ancestor era when they were alive, they would refer to each other with given names rather than the skykid nicknames that yet to exist for them.
Yeah I bet they do have names. I would generally say that the Skykid name generator when you randomize one for a friend is probably close in origin to how ancestor’s naming conventions were
i have one friend named Rarelaw and i love them
oh and Apepe shoutout to them
I’d personally think they have their own names too. Though it’s more easy to remember “lively navigator” than a normal name, sticks in your head more in my opinion. So ones we see ingame can be our skykids doing if you wanna believe that
Sure as hell wouldn’t want to remember 50+ names
Titles of occupations and things like that were also super common too
like it would make sense for the Prophets to be referred by their two-word names
what two words sorry im having a silly day
i love it how when i search the name ayin on tumblr it shows 2 different fandoms
yeah those names will do that
Im not into lore but this kinda got my attention
Sometimes circle appears then disappear and then appears in different location
Does anyone know what it means?
the one in Prarie is just a an easter egg that appears somtimes
And the one in abyss is the location the rainbow is when we get the rainbow quest in wasteland, gloat also has the same circle for the rainbow
Man i kinda wish it done something like
Literally "find 7 dragonballs to get a wish"
Or "find 7 secret circles to get a beating stick for the krills"
To be fair I don’t know what it would contribute but it’s intesting to think about
Why would anyone need a stick for beating krills, what we really need is sticks for beating the chibis that refuse to help with 4 player doors
it would be funny to have a single prop you can throw or hit a krill with that bonks off of them and all it does is make them instantly charge you
when I was still new to the game I was in Wasteland after getting my fireworks staff and I was flying up to the tallest point and shooting them in the air, at one point I got close to a krill and aimed to try and see if I could hit it and the instant the firework went off it started charging me. I know it was because I had started to fly directly above it and not because I actually hit it with the firework but it sure seemed that way LMAO
i SWEAR i did actually hit it though like the little glowy ball fell right on top of it before it went off so mission accomplished
I know it's a trophy for the PlayStation to stand inside of it, so there's that
@hushed steeple you can continue your questions here with how the eye of eden came to be
Oki guys here's my question how eye of Eden was born I wanna read the story
That’s for you to come up with since we don’t know for sure, some say it’s darkstone but that’s only a speculation, you also have the idea it exploded but the way it happened is also unclear
I don't think we know for certain. I believe it was made to power up Eden. Some concept art explains that originally it was a giant ark to get the ancestors to eden and be reborn, but it backfired and exploted somehow
My personal theory is that the huge diamond was part of the king's crown, I just like the implications of the king being huge lmao
True, but let’s remember concept art doesn’t mean it’s is cannon. Feel like if the ark idea held up, we’d see broken boat parts around the realm
So the shard memory we saw of the elders being struck by the eden shard was referring to that?
Maybe? I just think they were near it when it went kaboom
We need to find a proof with the secret of eye of eden
That’s kinda hard when that proof is just missing puzzle pieces scattered around
gotta wait and see if we get more content
helloo are there any theories on how the ancestors used the big golden diamond thingies?
Hmm I wonder if emptied energy crystals looks like this
Possibly cargo holds for diamond batteries
You can also find those in the Forest temple ! If you look up at the structure above the altar and compare it before and after watching the cutscene, you will see one of these has been added alongside a power diamond battery
A lightseeker probably
a season of performance spirit 😭
Beferat veteran
Does anyone think we can get an eden season
Season of Shattering: 🧍
do you guys remember that one scene in shattering that we get to see, with the big crystal cracking and the elders all around it. i think that explains that!
At first, it was just an empty mountain, with nobody living on it. Then, people started settling there, building impressive contraptions, until they decided they wanted to build the most impressive contraption of all: the big Eden Diamond. However, their plan backfired, and the Eden Diamond spewed darkness everywhere.
Oh poor fellows
🙌 great sky reference to nuclear advancement, and how it was presumed to lead to the downfall of humanity
I think it moreso reference to industrial advancement
which includes ☢️ advancement 🥰
i mean think about it, when you split a nuclear atom there’s usually a hugeeee burst of energy (possible explosion), just like how when the crystal was split, it sent the elders flying
I always likened it to a black hole/ supernova
it can also be thought that the power diamonds are analogous to nuclear power as well
Given how they’re extracted from the ground and powered via the remains of light creatures, fossil fuels seem like a more accurate comparison
I agree with this, they never got to the clean energy part, always in the industrial age
Some people, myself included, believe the Eden diamond was an attempt at clean energy that didn’t require the sacrifice of Light Creatures by harnessing the beam of light shooting up from Eden. I prefer the idea of it being an attempt to fix all the destruction caused by the current way of life that went wrong rather than a deliberate attempt to cause more destruction.
are skykids canonically emotionless robots before meeting ancestors and learning how to feel from them (gaining emotes)?
I am fully on board with what you said at the end
In the manta shattering memory, we see a very big group of mantas and if that is just a memory, it means that there were many more mantas that used to live in the kingdom before the events of the game. For the Ancestors to realize what they have done and made the diamond is probably a last resort to try and restore what has been lost due to their "greed"
i think they're kinda similar to babies, they don't have the ability to do a lot until they're taught how to communicate (for actual babies it's basically just,, "move around, make noises" and really the only difference for sky kids is that they know how to form/light a candle)
If I placed a skykid in a hydraulic press would they squish then squash or crack then crock?
Skykids will definetly crack when in a hydraulic press
No, please read this: #lore-discussion-spoilers message
This is also what I’m leaning towards! We know that there was an entire war over people condoning or condemning the death of light creatures to charge darkstone, because although it was a cruel practice, some believed the power was necessary to survive. Harnessing the beam’s power would have been a great solution to that… in theory.
We also can guess from the fact that no one tried to test the diamond on the beam idea before it got put in place or to check it over for unseen fractures that most likely, the diamond getting put on the beam was a last resort act of desperation
Hellooo I'm pretty new and I'm curious -- are there any characters the community is particularly/memetically obsessed with? Here there be blorbos?
Valley Elders
Yeah, all the Elders.
And crab whisperer too
the elders and specifically crab whisperer, at least for everyone who frequents this chat
For this chat specifically, it varies a lot, depending on who you ask. Leon has a good portion of them, but also we often boomerang off each other with them hence why crab whisperer got so popular, any prophecy spirit is also common
For the entire fanbase, no idea. Probably whoever gives them the prettiest clothes is what the pattern seems to be
Iirc when Abyss came out cannoneer became a blorbo around here for a while too, and so did performance guide during performance I think
But so far crab whisperer is the one spirit that has consistently remained one of the most popular
my favorite performance spirit is the stagehand, i vibe with them so hard bc we're both tiny little balls of anxiety
Also in the Tumblr side of the community King Resh is some sort of lesser tumblr s-man (the actual word is censored)
The spamtom clone
More of a onceler clone imo
The divorce memes?
Not sure if the divorce memes are much of a thing outside lorechat since afaik that meme was born to make fun of resh and the people who are obsessed with them and think they're either the messiah of sky or the big bad guy (aka sky tumblr)
Tho I don't have a tumblr account so I never really bothered to go in-depth into that part of the community
You know
I wonder if the seasonal spirits are actually giving us directions (speaking) or if they’re rapidly miming out what it is they want us to do in hopes we’ll understand
I say this since we’ve seen countless times honks = speaking
Like storytellers quest, the chat in game, etc.
Not to mention, if they don’t speak or aren’t able to translate to skids it would help make sense why we ring a bell to get some spirits attention in their memory instead of honking
Or why we’re being shown emotes and backstories instead of told about them
(Of course it’s also a game but cut me some slack
)
wow that's a lot! :O
if you wanna gush more (including about any characters you have) I'd love to hear about it
also wouldn't mind gushing about my characters
I can assure you they're definitely a thing outside lore chat
a lot of lore chat jokes start outside and end up here
I like dusk
the elders. for me it's valley elders and wasteland. they're so special to me <3
Sky lore theory:
What if the elders are actually useful?
I know this makes no sense because the only thing the elders did was make a big diamond and explode, but what if they did things behind the scenes?
like lead or make stuff or idk
I would think considering that theyre the elders Of Their Realms that they were important and did things we didn't see
honestly the statement "the only thing the elders did was make a big diamond and explode" is very reductive of their characters and a very narrow view of this game and it's story
Yeah that makes sense, it's just that I never really get involved with anything Sky outside of this chat, since I've already had pretty bad experiences with fandoms in the past and I don't believe the bigger sky fandom could be that different
Of course the elders have done more than just exploding! Night used to keep track of all the marriages and divorces in the kingdom, tho probably the only people who were constantly getting divorced and remarried were dusk and storm so night's usefulness is debatable
actor:
how can you not love them tho, they're a menace
i have no idea where this characterization of crab whisperer, a spirit i always sort of assumed just going off of their stylish cape and hat had a sort of refined air about them, came from but i thoroughly enjoy it
blorbos for me are cannoneer and navigator (they would be friends)
came from this mostly
this is incredible i wasn’t here for it i don’t think but i love this
there's something about the sneaky stance/playfight interaction coupled with the hilarious bugs like clipping through the ground below the map, levitating and emoting high above, being stuck doing the crab dance emote while running and more.
the ever-fantastic “looks the most elegant of the group, is actually the group wacko” character archetype
Alasdair wrote a fic about them being feral & surviving in a post-apoc wasteland/escaping from pirates and we were never the same.
they were maybe the first TS i got to really participate in and enjoy the most of their cosmetics so they’re special in my heart and oh my GOD
@frigid tinsel hey king do you have an exerpt from Dear Fellow Traveller on hand
It started with you, patient zero
no u
here’s how i see it:
Cannoneer: outwardly a freak, inwardly just wants to be held
Crab Whisperer: outwardly elegant, inwardly ready to go hog wild at any moment
crab whisperer:
oh my god an “out of your friends which are you” meme with all the sky blorbos
fish question what is/are your favorite spirit(s), I am now curious
NEVER MIND I JUST SAW THIS I CANNOT READDDD
YOU GET A BETTER ANSWER ANYWAYS!!! off the top of my head, Cannoneer (technically all Abyss spirits but they have gender), Navigator (ponytail swag), Headbang (MULLET swag), and probably others that i can’t remember immediayely. granted these are all from the seasons i’ve actively participated in except for TLP so i’m biased
TAKNG NOTES
also comprises of some of my favorite cosmetics in the game (i will never take of cannoneers mask it’s glued to my face i love it so)
YOU
COME CLOSER
when I say without my laptop crashing I mean I have 20 tabs open rn
this is so funny oh my god. ceasing does not get a break
I like crab whisperer mostly because Vela likes them and they remind me of each other (due to that association), I would imagine that’s why a lot of people like them as well. I have a bunch of spirits I really like but I can’t tell if this conversation is still about that or has solely shifted to crab whisperer instead 💀
Hard agree with astral, just because we only get a glimpse of them, doesn’t mean that’s all they were and did.
Takes vaults cutscene for example, elders show them helping and connecting to the ancestors
Kinda did a mini rant here but they are useful. to think leaders of a civilization weren’t useful just because you only look surface level kinda reduces their charaters and undermines them
#lore-discussion-spoilers message
I go go on for hours on how much the elders tried their best and did support their realms and the ancestors but I’ll refrain cuz school calls
crab whisperer looks at a giant spirit desperate enough to get them & goes "try me", like that gif of the goose getting the cows to back off
crab whisperer as next ts
please I need their mask and I wanna say hi but also fear cos that’ll be my first repeat TS
so valid. like i said crab whisperer actually has a special place in my heart too after being like my first ts i think or at least my first ts cosmetics i actually really liked wearing back when i had basically only TLP stuff lmao
i think they were actually my first other mask? aside from king frog mask of course
are we the same person
im going to steal their clothes and claim them for my own
Sky lore theory:
car
i agree
if I had to choose ONE favorite spirit of all time it would probably be fire prophet, I also really like tearful light miner, prophecy guide, and enchantment guide also
i dont have a favorite spirit atm, but id say nodding muralist vibing during fortune definitely got me
tearful light miner winner of the most saddest scrimblo
Would CoP be considered a school for ancestors? Sort of like a big history class?
CoP?
i’d have to look at a big list of all the spirits to remember which other ones i really like outside of the ones in my most recent memory tbh
Cave of Prophecies
Apart from Crab Whisperer, I’m fond of Stealthy Survivor and Wounded Warrior
the spirit i want to hug the most is pleading child
WW may become one of my new blorbos, we are chronic pain brothers (gender neutral)
i like spirits who are sad. and also dusk. who is also sad
REAL saddest most sopping wet kitten
tearful light miner real picture —>
all around light miner is stone
and dead friends
born in a wet cardboard box all alone
they were forced to eat darkstone when they were six
oh—
light miner is so tragic bro like. no wonder the level 3 is them falling to their knees and sobbing
i think light miner and mindful miner should meet and hug. group therapy for miners
are the ancestor altars we visit that summon them their.. graves..?
they need therapy and to unionize
Pretty much, they are called spirits after all
ALSO real answer: i think it probably stood as a place where old history was told about the ancestor race, yeah, but primarily it was a religious place of mental trials
thanks! and kind of freakish that the altars are their graves. i mean, who was around to build them?
other ancestors
feels to me that perhaps in a proto-ancestor age before the king and darkstone and all that there was a more elemental-based worship as they were more connected with nature at the time
my friends towing me around exhausted as I loudly spam SOUP for the 87th day in a row as soon as our wax hour route crosses into lightminers cave
Im also that person
I appreciate the backup to make our soup symphony (souphony) even louder
mindful miner hugs light miner, thousands healed
the soup headcanons changed the way i make my OCs btw. now like half of them are soup
what’s soup o.O
buying tearful lightminer cosmetics call that buying clothes at the soup store
sky lore theory:
The reason birds can phase through objects, literally fly into solid walls and slide along them, and change shape at will is because they aren't birds...
...they're origami birds!
If you look at their design in both the game and the dev art, you'll see a shocking re-
...
What do you mean "just game design"?
oh this is very good
Where did you get the info of them being origami birds may I ask?
i’m still so confused. guess i had to have been in chat for longer 😭
Wheres is that kitten saying soup in those old fashion diver suits
souping is one type of lightblur phenomena headcanon. you just have to accept that
- light seems entwined with memory.
- light has a tendency to fuse and merge with itself.
Vela posted an infographic describing the four types of lightblurring, souping being the first type Catlem came up with
Well I noticed people using theories about the king and shtuff from this dev artwork, so I took a look myself.
And I found the one for birds.
And they look very folded.
honestly highlight of my day, i like anticipating the soup messages when burning 3 dark plants in that cave
it's hard to make out what actually happens in light miner's memory, like. do they get trapped by the dark plants? and then there's a cave in and their friends happen to be in the exact spot that it happens?? and they can't get them out?? and then the other person gets eaten by a dark plant or something???
it's so tragic and confusing and i love it
skykids could have also helped by following their instructions ! wouldnt be unheard of since a few seasons have us rebuild an area
If by dev art you mean concept art then just a reminder, concept art doesn’t mean it’s cannon
It’s concept for a reason and if it wasn’t used in the final game then it’s not a good source for theory as it’s from a concept that never came to fruition
It’s a texture glitch, better in #screenshots-and-videos as what al said
also does anyone know when that lore packed film is coming out?
nah
My interpretation of it is that there was a cave-in, possibly caused by the rain eroding away at the earth and making it crumble easily. As soon as the group all realized what was happening, they ran for the exit, but half of them got crushed by rocks as the cave folds in around them.
the third person who dies is infected by darkness, where a darkness plant essentially grows inside of them, I wrote a fic about this node specifically cause the picture was so vivid for me
As ash says: WAFO
dear god every lore-craving fiber in my being longs for that thing
I like to think it might come later this year because of the PS release since Switch got one
where can we read the fic, may i ask?
Hi

may someone explain the mural in repository of refuge? we’re the ancestors storing memories there?
That’s a good question! I don’t know yet if I feel comfortable sharing it here (I am super shy about my work) and it’s not published on anywhere, thank you so much for the interest though 💛
Yes! I believe so. They stored memory cubes in vault
I like to think that with darkness threatening their souls, they wanted a safer place to store their memories before they died. I headcanon the Vault is meant to mirror Orbit in the absence of a way up...
There may also be a reason why they were pushing towards vault in war, knowing their end was near they wanted to store it all.
so about the members of the current season, were they experiencing the war at this time and died in the refuge?
Presumably, yea
Either during the war or after, because they're In safety
ah, gotcha. pretty devastating tbh
nu
Honestly yeah, it is. I'm a big fanatic about the war lore/history and it's just really sad
also thanks so much for answering my questions! i appreciate everyone’s patience, i have a lot 😭
🍄 Canon lore: Everyone is a banana/j
🍄 But in all seriousness Lorechat is so cool
🍄Anyways hi Lorechat!!
same here. it’s heartbreaking to think that such a rich culture and history was just ruined because of greed. also a lesson to those in the real world
🍄 While reading Lorechat Aurora's song "All is Soft inside" music is playing in my head and
🍄 Makes me feel bad for Mindful Miner and the rest of the Season of Remembrance Spirits
I will water the ground where I stand, so the flowers in Sky can grow back again
were ancestors frozen in their shells until we arrived?
me too. at least we can take comfort in knowing that their no longer miserable but off somewhere in the skyniverse
🍄 They're all hanging out in Orbit and causing chaos
/j
Wouldn’t exactly say greed was the core reason for the downfall imo. More like ignorance or avoidance of a problem maybe? Like from abyss we already know the sea levels rose dramatically, and darkstone to sky is like electricity to us, the world we live in is built around it. We need it to survive and I like to think darkstone is similar too that.
I like to the think the problem grew so much that when it was realized it was to late to fix personally
Feel like even if they wanted to revert it they couldn’t for how intergrated darkstone was by the time it became a problem
lore: it was the orbiting ancestors tampering with Eden that caused the shard eruptions.
oooo that just reminded me, during the concert the underground caves are flooded ( or was it clouds i forgor ) but during mindfuls memory it starts near the same spot at the bottom, where there's the butterfly pots. idk if that's too important but i just noticed it
🍄 Could be! At the last Season of Shattering memory they probably tried to fix the damage they've caused but Eden said "No u" and made the elders go :fly fly:
i'm just. thinking of the ways the remembrance spirits could have died and for pleading child's sake i hope it wasn't as bad as some of the things my brain is coming up with
(for future reference those are grebuloffs from ffxiv)
Ty astral
yea I wrote a fic about post-apoc Vault, it wasn't good, but it's a much better fate than being on the outside
i’m assuming from sickness? being trapped in that refuge, they probably ran out of resources. whoever the tiptoeing tea brewer was tending to must’ve died of old age or illness, i’m sure. or could they have been a nurse during war..?
Compared to seed of hope I like to believe it was the first one, think if they were a war medic we’d see more people💔
🍄 Whoever the other peepaw is, they could've been a comrade to Wounded Soldier
🍄 Severe injuries, perhaps? I'm not sure, I wasn't paying attention to the memories
presumably, yea. any spirits that didn't ascend were petrified in darkness and remained inert in those husks until skykids' light freed them
||i’m sure grandpa died of old age ||
🍄 ||They probably did
||
you don't have to spoiler talk of death here, this isn't tiktok
my first thought for all of them is starving to death which is equally as bad. especially for a literal child, but like, no matter what happened in the end, at least they're not alone i guess?
🍄 Being careful because some people have triggers of it 😭
You made me read that in the low Tiktok voice
But yeah fair enough, kinda seems a lil redundant if the person doesn’t know what’s being spoiled though but that’s just me
🍄 Now I forgot what I was gonna type
It’s ok, happens to me too
i couldn’t find the scratch out button so i used the spoiler. sorry!
Scratchout out command is ~~ I believe
Ok it is-
thanks!
Slightly disagree with this, I believe greed must’ve had a big role in the downfall because of the mining and fighting over resources
Never will use tik tok
How would you Think elder would react if they were living during update or fix update period ? I mean, imagine, they would see krill spinning like beyblade or spirit disappearing or stuff like that
That’s assuming the sky world is like an actual game to them
True, but it's still interesting to mixt both n create ambiguity
Spinning krill and endless holes in walls or clipping through floors pretty much breaks the immersion that the sky world is an actual world in my opinion
If it followed the plot that it was an actual game and charaters and plot were aware of it like Oneshot (even undertale) then it would work but it’s not really like that
I see what you mean, I thought about more subtil glitch like krill that don't rush to you, just watching, Or spirit disappearing a while ( or dark plant in uncommon area) smth that could work n not break too much the 4nd wall
Yh it's obv a different atmosphere than one-shot or undertale which are more related to " Game " In their design n style
Oh ya putting it that way I can get the krill part, spirit part still not so much still.
I personally would see it more coming naturally though than implying the updates and fixes we get to the game were the main influence and reason for it
WARDEN WHY DO YOU HATE TRIANGLE DORITO MAN
I see, can't say I don't agree with you :)
Yaya fair enough, agree to disagree then 🤝 (read that wrong help sorry
)
Have you tried public education at a cave? The advanced Sky civilization probably didn’t use it for long
Dw it's interesting to confront different point of vue and learn your point of vue so it's cool
Tac, I do wonder about your dislike of concept art. Although many parts of it never came to fruition, just as many did, like Darkstone production and the cycle of light.
I mainly have a problem when folks use that as their evidence for a theory or use cut content sthat’s old and out of date
The darkstone concept did come up in its own original way, and it’s cool what could’ve been. But what we have in the game is what we have in the game and I hard stand by that
I Can appreciate the ideas that were brainstormed but not so much when it’s taken as truth
also Hard pointing to how “the king” is precived as an actual full fledged charater in the game when they’re not around and only exist in fragments and will probably never meet
also just because some things from concept art came to fruition doesn't mean everything from it is true
what flavor of ice cream do you think the elders would be a fan of
I'm not tac but I've wanted to say on this: sometimes people only use concept art to support their theories and then get frustrated when the game doesn't help them and it's like .
Dawn: chocolate
Day: pistachio or cookies & cream
Rain: blue raspberry
Sunset: strawberry
Dusk: mint chocolate
Night: vanilla or mint chocolate chip
vanilla based
Obviously not every piece of concept art is true in the modern game, but theories can use concept art as supplementary evidence
-cracks knuckles-
Dawn: green tea
Day: butter pecan
Rain: black licorice
Mekh: Vanilla
Sah: Pistachio or sour gummy
Dusk: Chocolate
Night: Every flavour and topping, they want to experiment
mint chocolate chip belongs in hell tho
I'm going to bite you
supplement but not primarily/rely solely on
This is the first time I’ve ever agreed with your food opinions, probably will be the last though
Yeah, that’s what I said
I’ve not seen that much people nowadays make theories based entirely on concept art with zero evidence from the base game
Actually Dawn can have salted caramel, I love salted caramel
"sah likes sour gummy ice cream"
for some reason i feel like that's perfect.
My life practically revolves around them /hj I know all
I’ll just make a mint chocolate chip armor. Now you’ll not be so willing
The King is just a different name for a character that does exist in canon, I just use it because the developers use it
if you say it tastes like toothpaste I will steal every cheese you own I'm so unnecessarily mad at this
Why are the chocolate chips so small they barely have any flavor I would’ve appreciated a chocolate swirl or something
here's my take btw
Dawn: vanilla but like, the kind that's a bit pricier and smells really good
Day: any fruits
Rain: oreo, with rainbow sprinkles
Sunset: one will lie to you about it and the other will tell you the truth
Dusk: chocolate
Night: this
Sorry I got the idea of Night like having a very tall Icecream come of having every flavor and giggled
Anyways mint belongs in savory foods anyways
#MINTCHUTNEYSWEEEP
mint ice cream is god tier
So true
I need sour gummy ice cream actually
how in the Light do you like mint but not mint chocolate
i have tastebuds
You hold a pice of leaf mint to vela and they eat it
Hold a cone of mint chocolate and they hiss and snarl like a rabid bird
Mint ice cream is okay but it’s not fully right
You can’t just put mint as a sweet food
were it not for the laws of this land,
bestie im gonna buy you one at my favorite ice cream shop, you will come out a different man
i love the mint chocolate chip ice cream with the big chunks of dark chocolate. i want to crunch the extra flavor
do you just not like chocolate
also now I want lemon sorbet so bad hhhh why
Dusk NEEDS this immediately
That looks like pesto I’m sorry
I’m sorry that plants are green
Im sorry for connecting similarities I see with my eyes
i have no idea what that leaf is so my first though was "a jar of guacamole?"
i am a huge chocolate enjoyer but not with mint ice cream
chocolate is warm and mint is cold, they cancel eachother out if put in the same dish
thats pesto, i could make the chat pasta with this
Chocolate is sweet and mint is savory, didn’t stop those freaks at Wasteland
I would think if it's in ice cream it's also cold
You never had icecream soup? Just melted icecream
….respectfully, and kindly, have you ever had mint? Savory is like the last word I’d use to describe it
I feel like all the other elders would have favorite ice creams except for Dusk, who has a milk allergy because they’re never allowed to have anything good ever
no you dont understand, it's about the taste, not the temperature
chocolate tastes warm and mint tastes cold dhjsjhsdhjdsjh
I giggled at this
why do my messages keep getting nuked i'm talking about ice cream
I see I see
are you projecting something
Grown cats can’t have regular milk if I recall
cheesing dusk like a cat
the chocolate they use in mint ice cream is dark chocolate which is very very bitter, mint is incredibly sweet
First of all, nobody eats mint by the leaf. If you do you’re Crab Whisperer.
Mint peanuts, mint chutney, almost every dish involving mint is savory
It’s not the mint that’s making the thing sweet, it’s sugar
It’s like Cinnamon
mint leaves taste like wierd salad, they just add a ton of sugar to the ice cream tbqh
I’m NOT projecting i just think the entire universe hates Dusk and it would show up in scenarios like this
actually no I get the mint tasting cold part it does that
The entire Wasteland looks like mint chocolate chip and now everyone’s dead. Coincidence? I think not
…You’ve never chewed on a mint leaf before? They taste Cold
it's fine, we can chill the ingredients that aren't dairy so Dusk can still get the flavor
which would just be various different forms of cold but you get the point
They’d eat ice cream anyways
Of course
Tummy hurty :(
there are ways to break down the lactose tho i just watched a nilered video on this
Why would I ever eat a raw mint leaf? Do you put it in your sandwiches as an alternative to cucumber?
No, we have a catnip plant and I got curious
Cats eat grass so I can see Salem eating mint leaves straight up (my point exactly)
here's a better comparison for something you wouldn't expect to be cold at first thought: peppermint
peppermint tastes like you just put a sweet-tasting ice block in your mouth
wait isn't that an entirely different plant
Catnip is a mint. I like chewing on chocolate mint better though
ok ok ok dude you need to try that
you take a nem (spring roll whatever), and wrap a mint leaf on it THEN wrap a salad leaf around it. dip in sauce then eat
mint also does well with endive/orange salad
Maybe I'm wrong N it's totally dumb but- is there hierarchy in sky ? And what's the relation between sky's environnement , Eden and elder ?
There probably is, with Elders being more powerful than regular Ancestors
From concept art we also see clad hierarchy, with richer Ancestors being viewed differently from less well-off Ancestors
They’d be confused and shocked that ice cream hurting you when you eat it isn’t normal, they thought everyone else learned to deal with the pain like they did
gives them a hug and a bottle of lactase
( did you just talk about food during, like... 10 min ? 😂 strong culinar taste I see )
INTERESTING QUESTION
i like to think elders are that: older members of their specie. but like, REALLY old, ancient even. Also just as there's 6-7-8 elders for ancestors, there might be multiple elders for each specie of creature
Based on the murarlas in vaults cutscene I feel liek it’s more seen as a community than a leader you’d seen with a ruler being above subjects
I definitely seeing elders being much more powerful and respected of corse, peosbably having gifts/offerings as to thank them. but not like personally see than as being above everyone but that’s just me
it doesn’t work because the allergy is to something entirely different than lactose (because of course it is)
we're all very normal people all the time that have completely normal conversations
Oh, you poor poor sod, sky71. 10 minutes was a short time compared to the cucumber wars
True, I just wondered if someone know more about it Coz I don't see that much info on this part of sky's lore
this is veering close to projection friend
Where do you see some ancestors being viewed differently than less well-off ancestors in concept? Sure, there are some class differences, but no hint of classism.
Everyone seemed to have their role in ancestor society and were respected for fulfilling it
ash is a cucumber sandwich defender, i will never recover from the betrayal i think
Thx ✨ I understand and I quite like your hypothesis
Unfortunately with most of sky lore, much is open to interpretation. Which can be nice for the ammount of ideas but frustrating to get anything concrete
oh there's Deep lore for the cucumber sandwiches I see
Lorechat is infamous for our food preferences
i just imagine sah and mekh in the background of all of this, making a competition out of who can eat the most ice cream as fast as possible without getting a brain freeze or feeling like death
Things I have learnt from Lore Chat
- Cucumber War????
- Wasteland Elder is a lactose intolerant cat
- Mint chocolate ice cream -you either hate it or love it
- People eat mint in sandwiches???
we've taught you well
I don’t think the Sky world is that peaceful though, we see soldiers in Wasteland taking away Pleading Child’s parent
So true I was there
Sah lost and collapsed to the ground dramatically form the worst brain freeze ever
I didn’t say it was peaceful, I said there was no classism
is that also what they felt in the snow
It’s a good thing you don’t know about cucumbers
I BROUGHT THEM INSIDE
Of course Sah lost 🙄 they really put the Ls in valley
No wooly manta, don’t go near the tomato blood cookie
WHAT HAPPENED WITH THE CUCUMBERS 😦
But I theorize that the military force of the Ancestors didn’t treat civilian Ancestors well. It’s more “job-ism”
IS THAT A FLUFFY MANTA??
🍄 HI LORECHAT!!
I'M GOING TO POUR MUSTARD MAYO ON EVERYTHING YOU OWN
Sah’s the type to say “watch this” and have a 78% chance to fail at it
Take that back immediately, mint leaf is GOOD
if we dont get fluffy mantas i riot
But then who lead them ? Elder ? Or guide ? Or smth else ?
You have to cook herbs
Think power imbalance is a better word imo
I refuse to and I will eat leaf like a cryptid
I don’t eat salads, I’m not a deer
wooly manta !
Soldiers are historically known for not treating the people whose land they’ve invaded very well. Considering the remembrance spirits seem to be somewhere that was under siege or had already been captured by Valley, I think there’s a lot more context to their interactions with soldiers than you’re focusing on — it’s by no means as simple as “soldiers always look down on other people”, they’re an invading force
looking at the amount of grilled cheese you eat, that might be because you're french
Considering wars are usually lead by the leader of a country i like to think some elders were involved, now who was fighting in wasteland and the actual reason we don’t know
screams and wails i love themb....cottom ball
We do know the Wasteland Elder participated in a war against another faction of Ancestors. We see two shields with two different icons- and the shield on the bottom looks similar to the shield of the Wasteland Elder. However, we don’t know who led the top shield folks, it could be just another Ancestor
I’ll take French accusations over British tbh
They definitely weren’t treated well. Pleading’s parent?
where does vampire rank on this list
:3
Wow thx I didn't know that
Oui oui je vampirah
Blocking everyone in this channel /j
Didn’t we theorize that it was GW vs Valley? I still believe that the elders disliked each other to some degree
Grilled cheese is Murican’ invention, please and thank you 🦅 🇺🇸 💪
French power ✨
I feel silly should’ve worded my words better
Meant to say not sure beside Tsadi who they were fighting aginst 100% but that’s what theories are for
i miss drawing them tbh
@rigid mural
Btw don’t ping me in replies
HNNN FLUFFY,,,LET ME HOLD
What IS the building in the back? The one we can currently see in GW?
Sah would be the one person to always crash face first into the ground for no apparent reason no matter what they're doing
Most likely Dusk’s temple!
Im so glad we agree
mehk staring like 😐
half the time it's mekh tripping them
Presumably Dusk’s temple, yea
Btw where do y'all come from ( I'm French ( N vampirah isn't French word sorry tac 😂 Nice try)
you should draw them more. i wish to see more fluffy manta ball
certified squishy
I’m from a place where mint is treated well and not horribly loaded with sugar and forced into ice cream
I remember wanting to brainstorm more on the idea that the Valley elders went against the GW elder, but Salem did bring up a good point on how Valley would be FOR dark stone use instead of it.
Totally agree
Im surprised actually
just felt like teasing al for French accusation
I come from a place
submit a design to squishables that's this
Why would GW elder be pro darkstone?
Every place in Sky uses darkstone to some effect, whether they want to or not is a different story
What's dark stones ? ( sorry I still miss lot of notion)
If the war was over darkstone technology and if you interpret Valley as pro-darkstone, then wouldn’t that entail Wasteland would be anti-darkstone?
It was mostly valley that had the need for it, is why
Yeah did I mix up my words, when we debated some time ago I was saying GW could’ve been pro darkstone, and valley anti. But I had my reasons because GW was mainly protecting eden or vault.
Sorry ping
I’m not counting every piece of it, but Vault and Forest especially make use of it
Startingto go deep in the theory haha
The material used to create blue stone things used to open up doors in the Sky kingdom. Also known as Power Diamonds, they appear everywhere
Y’all please turn off the ping in replies /nm
Is It the stone that project image or reflection of memory ?
Yeah they do, since Vault has the memory storages. But I think that GW was defending the darkstone
Also Alasdair the Ping doesn’t stay off permanently, it’s a mistake
These are the mostly agreed upon terms:
Darkstone — raw material mined from the ground, seen as the blue chunks in the Treasure Reef mine.
Power Diamonds — the octadahedrons that given light act as batteries/power sources, which darkstone is refined into.
Darkstone Technology — any technology or mechanisms that uses power diamonds to function, like the Vault elevator or most multiplayer doors.
Corrupted Darkstone — red crystals that actively suck out light. Includes red shards.
yeah you have to do it every time
Or just other black little stone that can be used as system ( i'll use out context example but, stone working like Redstone for example)
sometimes I already hit sent before I realize unfortunately
Thx TwT that help a lot 👌
But we see the “sun” shield on the Wasteland Elder’s temple?
Yeah, you could think of it like redstone! It can even be used to power music and make lights
Huh didn't get diamond power part, is that the blue hollow fishy in treasure reef ?
Iirc Dusk has a sun shield in their cutscene too
Sun symbol could have a different meaning
In my interpretation, Dusk Elder changed from pro- to anti-darkstone during the war
But what about the diamond symbol? Why would the symbol that looks like darkstone be anti-darkstone
I wonder or dark stones transformed on corrupted and then red shard, maybe a strong exposition around dark créature or smth like that
I tried to think of ways Dusk could be pro darkstone, but, looking at the immense damage pollution from it has caused their realm and has no doubt poisoned the ancestors there with, I realized that with the way I write them, the only ways they could support darkstone production after that were if they were willfully ignorant or were so greedy they didn’t care. Neither option is very great.
Of course, this isn’t even considering the other evidence like they have a sun shield etc
The diamond symbol looks less like the symbol of Eden, or diamond symbol is just a placeholder
There’s also a sun symbol in Eden
Yeah that. That’s why I think the sun symbol was pro darkstone or protecting eden
What if Eden was anti-darkstone? Before the Eden Diamond was created it could just be a tiny monastery thingy
do we know what the diamond is made out of even
Hmm explain to me a bit more
Since the idea of Valley choosing to look away from the environmental destruction the production of darkstone caused because they value the convenience in their own lives and have even come to rely on it mirrors irl events so cleanly, I could even go so far as to argue Valley being pro darkstone and Wasteland being anti is the best fitting interpretation with Sky’s overall themes
Whether a realm used darkstone or not doesn’t matter, it’s their opinion on using darkstone
and by the time the costs become too great it would become Perilous to stop
Hmm yeah I would see why valley would be Pro, it’s just interesting how the Sun ish symbol was inside of Eden, almost like the guards there. And how GW was holding off at vault.
Vault would most likely be neutral, their population mostly consists of scholars and they’d have no standing army
Of course the meaning could’ve been diluted with time, but it probably originally represented light creatures
What did the diamond side want in vault though. Memory cubes? Getting to Eden?
I can see it starting like. They supported it at first, but saw how much it was destroying and ruining their realm and was more of a factory that transported those goods to other realms. (only pieces of darkstone seen is at the gate and abyss, a darkstone factory)
which I’ve seen a lot happen a lot in the real world, where many countries (usually 2nd and third) are usually forced to give to others their own resources and can barely keep any, even if they are the ones to produce it
Baud you are a godless heathen and I hope you are stuck in Eden forever for your crimes of hating mint chocolate chip ice cream
Does Eden can be considered as a realms with elder ? In the ascension we can see the place where all the elder welcome us getting destroyed, meaning at least one part of the vault of knowledge got destroyed and part followed us as we rise up. But when we reborn, vault is intact. Does it mean Eden is from different temporality ?
I've noticed some parallels with sky and America's industrial revolution
You are entirely wrong and your punishment is us bringing the same old mint discourse again and again for all eternity
the industrial revolution and its consequences, chapter on-
fight fight fight fight fight

Do you mean the final vault cutscene? In that, it takes place “in an area outside time and space”.
im sitting here watching this while holding the woolly manta squishable that doesn't exist
Vanya gimme
Thing is so little is known of eden truly despite how important it is and what it was before.
Which is cool but can get confusing
This was the connection I made too! I’m guessing the only reason Dusk kept the factories going as long as they did was because they knew how importwnt keeping the power on was for Valley’s survival and maybe even fear that it would start a conflict and spiral out of hand if they did otherwise. I can see the war as a massive refinery worker’s strike that spiraled out of control when Dusk supported it and Valley felt they needed to use force to stop it
no :'(
Some mint chocolate chip ice cream from certain brands suck. The Turkey Hill all-natural mint chocolate chip ice cream though? That is what Heaven tastes like.
Well there's still lot of mystery concerning Eden, assuming it's from a different area n space make place to even more other hypothesis
Yaya! And in the end they possibly stood with their people
And paid such a heavy price for it
throws you back into cozy
It's both so cool and so frustrating haha
I still think Eden can be considered an official realm, in the first parts in the game it mentions “7 kingdoms”
Yeah 💔 utterly heartbreaking to think about. It was an attempt at changing things that went horribly south fast.
7 kingdomsss. Left us wondering where eden elder went
Bros the cozy repellant
gone. reduced to atoms.
We talk about Valley, like, valley the other game of thatgamecompagny ? Sorry I ask lot of question I'm quite new to this discord
To the divorce counselor
I’m the proud repellant!
Also would you guys think that the Eden castle would’ve been a place for holding meetings or such? Or gatherings? The place is HUGE, even in orbit
get the divorce
Valley of triumph ofc 🤦♀️ my bad
Also I know we have wooly Manta but imagine this: Wooly Krill
Interesting notes:
- Vault uses a LOT of darkstone, although a large portion of that is inside memory lanterns, and so might have been filled with ancestors’ light instead of light creatures’ (also this is speculation based on how my perception of light as a force works)
- the theorized TLP caricature of Night (sneezing geographer) is partially based around them closing their eyes to the outside world and refusing to pay attention to it
- We know they at least supported refugees from Wasteland
Wooly krill oh gosh need to draw this
I need to see a fluffy Krill
vela, get to work /j
Wonder if the scholar (season guide) is the one that helped take them in
Probably, can’t imagine who else it would be
”Hey, it says gullible on the ceiling
-looks up- -looks back and realized they were joking
:”Also can you please stop exploiting my people for the darkstone? My realm is being destroyed because of it.”
:”….”
Bro got cycloned 💔
Hit the 🇸🅿️🇮 🇳 button!!!
bro got flushed down the toilet 😔
Did ancestors recognize the light within them? Like they know of their origin or connection to Mega? Now that I’m thinking, they must have.
Wooly krill here we go
Most likely yeah
*uses like the sponge *
Also, can we get into why ancestors and skids alike where masks? is it something spiritual, tribal, factional, etc?
Yw considering spirits can go back and and down from the sky and we can see megabird when we up in orbit i’d like to think they do.
Because of that I’d like to think megabird is seen as a fact they exist then a mystery, part of the cycle
Connection to mega ? Who's that
HOLDS GEMTLE
Megabird!
Oh like giant manta
I see it as cosmetics, like having a hat and no hat,
Mask wise for skykids I do find intersting their eyes remain close when they’re fully maskless or with aurora
Not quite, more like them here, they also appear in the end credits
Megabird
And what about the big worm plenty red eyed thingy in treasure reef ? Did it was so dangerous that they keep it deep under water along with krill or was it there by is one will
Oh, yeah. Cosmetics makes the most sense for ancestors.
I didn't know we name that megabird, it's like milky way no ?
Megabirbbb
LMAOO
There’s no official name for that. Many refer to it to the leviathan or many-eyed beast. Other names, especially nicknames, are common
I like that more but similar to alot of names we only see them in concept art
Like heck I use concept art names for the elders somtimes
Megabird is a charater that did come out of the concept art phase and into game but it’s not known for sure if they still have that name
I’d concider megabirds name fannon wide instead and not cannon for certain
I personally think it’s a corrupted whale or experiment gone wrong
I thought of if too, since it got the same morphology than the whale
I don’t think the creatures were orginally kept underwater. I think the towers or temples they were kept in are currently sunken, resulting in the ruins we know in Reef.
I tried to stay the closest to it last time ( surviving with fishy call duh)
I see, N Yh it correspond to the event of the reef
Maybe we'll have more fact about it in the future
So what happens when, we finally get enough seasons to know the true meaning - does Sky: Children of the Light, end?
We don’t know, at least for a gameplay perspective.
But for a story perspective, here’s what I think (based on @flint bolt): “We are the end. We Skykids are the end of the Sky timeline.”
I think every new generation sees themselves as the end. Who knows what will come after us? There might be ancestors again, the skykids might leave… we don’t know. It’s the future, and it doesn’t really matter right now.
scuttles out of crack in wall
i have been summoned
I don’t mean the apocalypse is happening for Skykids. I mean that Skykids are the future of the Sky world for the rest of time.
It seems like a utopia, a paradise where children can roam free doing whatever they want.
I know what you meant! My point still stands. We are the present, and it’s hard to envision anything happening or changing after we go away. But most of the time it does.
I don’t think there’s much to really theorize about in the far future of Sky, to be honest. It just depends on what you want to think is happening, but there isn’t much, if any, evidence to back up any route you choose.
Sky would be a great place to live imo, especially if you’re a child. There’s peaceful and calm areas, happy and social areas, and challenging areas that can be completed with friends
I agree I think they should release me into isle of dawn for enrichment
-AI brain explodes-
enrichment 🎉
Isle of Dawn 🎉
you encountered a wild arson!
I always say this! Sometimes I end up daydreaming about Sky, wishing it was a real place. As dramatic as that sounds lol
I don’t think it will. It might be over for Lore Chat, but not for overall gameplay imo. Our work as SkyKids is never done. There are so many realms to explore/restore, and possibly some left undiscovered to be added in future seasons/event. I hope, at least, Sky will be around for another good three or four years. It’ll never die, not in my heart.
*oof, meant to reply to Tilo
*
hello again! I've read some of the discussion here about the eden diamond as maybe a last attempt of the elders/ancestors to undo the damage caused by the production and usage of dark diamond and i have question, what are your theories on what the eden diamond is made of? is it also made from the light of mantas and other creatures?
It’s darkstone, charged with either the Eden beam or sufficient light to make the Eden beam!
appears With how powerful the mantas are (mantas can carry thing and skids, even those smaller ones, plus a large manta busting a large rock more than twice it's size in one of the Flight guests) I'm surprised no manta decided to just throw hands with a random skid for no reason
i could punch a manta
A manta can just yeet you with it's tail
Blame Astra, they want to hurt a manta
Tomatoá:
i forgot i said that (also i need to take some as out of my nickname apparently)
What realm is your Skykid from?
still orbit, skybot
leaning more towards valley
saksdkemfddd
Does it just randomly ask that question sometimes? Lmao
thats a skybot thing
Well mines definitely performance, I love those idiots with my whole heart
congrats! you have identified skybot's role in the ecosystem
Unfortunately yes
💀💀💀
Me and Skybot have a …complicated relationship
And so does lorechat apparently
Ok well I've made enough of a fool of myself im going to bed y'all, gn!
This,, , this is lorechat,,,,,
nah its alright you didnt do anything wrong
Ik lol I was just being silly, thx tho /gen
silly is our brand
Treasure reef or Eden, hehe
🍄 Hi Lorechat!!
I’ve been wondering what technological era Sky is set in, especially because we see so many spirits using things like spears and shields, while you can literally go to a space station in office. My current theory is that it’s after some kind of man-made apocalypse, likely pollution, hence things like the polluted water and the oily plants. Sky feels like it has some underlying message about the way humans are hurting the Earth, or I’m just reading too far into it lol. Especially in the Seed of Hope song during Season of Aurora “When the last tree has fallen and the rivers are poisoned we cannot eat money.” Anyway, those were just my musings to answer my own curiosity lol.
Kinda reading to far office wise since the office is not cannon to the story
But the pollution part is pretty spot on since a lot of us come to the conclusion that sky shared a lot of similarities to the Industrial Revolution but going downhill way faster. Abyss and wasteland can be enough proof of how damaging the pollution was and how it affect sea levels and environment all around.
I’d say technology in sky is like if electricity was discovered way before 19th century
They still use spears and boats but on the other hand they have those same boats can can float, diamonds being used for elevators, lights and power and even instruments seen with mellows gutair. Yes they don’t have modern technology like us but then again we have yet to make floating cars or actual holograms like what darkstone did.
We adapted to electricity and its limitations, while darkstone has done the same for sky, but with more liberty and prioritizing different things than we did
Maybe they do have hologram telephones in theory but that’s only an idea unless proven otherwise
In my opinion It's interesting to get this mixt of medieval stuff ( like spears N shield) and " Electricity " Or " Redstone " ( like elevator, N floating boat) it expand the variety of possibility that we can get later ( New technology ? Mixing both ? Like spear that always hit their goal or building that can modify themselve
Wait, our sky kids can be from realms?
I thought our sky kid was a specially made being from megabird or the stars, like the red robe traveler vs the white robe in Journey. 🤔
I think Skybot meant it more like the realm that’s your Skykid’s home. Similar to real-life nationality
I'm still confused about the eden elder/ child of light we save from Eden.
I know this is a different game, but I find some interesting parallels to Journey. The ending is similar in Journey to Sky. However, there is a massive departure between journey and sky, sky's rebirth has permanence while Journey doesn't.
In Journey your new game+ plays the same as the first time you play it, except for your scarf/ robe. Everything like resets as if you never did anything.
In sky after your rebirth, the spirits memories aren't blue, since you've done them. Places you've visited stay completed (including seasons).
All except for the eden elder/ sky kid. No matter how many times you do eden and save them, they're always there.
Has there been any theory as to why they are still in the eden diamond even after we save them? 🤔
Hi lore chat, I’m new here. I’m usually over in the sketches and fan art group but I love the lore of sky! Here’s my question:
With these past three seasons (Shattering, Aurora, and now Remembrance) all connecting, I wonder what is next? Are they finally leading up to telling us where everyone is, and why everyone is dead save for the sky kids? Why didn’t the spirits we see fly with capes and why do only we have them? Some spirits have capes but don’t fly. Is this lore arc going to lead into the present? Or closer to it? We saw how the eye became volatile and how it backfired on the elders, we saw the war, and now we are seeing the aftermath. What happens next?
According to my statistics, the Sky kids who sleep at least 8 hours a day are more likely to be... you won't believe it, less sleepy, amazing, right?
dancing around a shooting star, and every beancell remembers what have taken us this far
there's even more connections than just those three if you look closer :3cccc performance and rhythm is a nice one to start off with but it can get a little silly
Sky has a theme of the past being lost. In this case, the Eden Elder is permanently trapped in the diamond (and, in my theory, became the Void of Shattering). You cannot save the past anymore, only adapt to the present.
I'm curious, what do you mean by "where everyone is?"
Well we know everyone we see are dead… because you know. Spirits. But is it just that we are the aftermath of a great collapse in society? If so, how did we come to be? If no one is there how did we get made.
that's a good question! it's possible that we weren't made by the Ancestors in the realms at all, but fell from the sky similar to being reborn in orbit (which I believe uhhh Ushering Stargazer's memory also supports? one of the isle spirits)
hey lore chat!! i have a quiesion for you guys. is the eden elder a skykid like us? i am pretty lost on everything T-T
I wouldn’t call Shattering connected, it was more its own thing. But you’re right, both Aurora and Remembrance told about a war that shook the Sky world. It’s possible that spirits used capes for fashion, and skykids, being more powerful versions of the spirits, adopted them and used it to fly.
The Eden Elder is an incredibly mysterious and borderline unknown character in the Sky world. Although we can make theories, it’s impossible to truly know.
However, I can help with other parts of Sky lore!
Yea, skykids were born of falling stars. Like Astral said, we can see the birth of one skykid in Ushering Stargazer’s spirit memories.
That skykid in particular is, as far as we know, the only skykid that existed during the ancestors time. They’re often thought to be the Chosen One depicted completing the Trials in the Cave of Prophecies and revered in the Eden mural. So yes, the Eden Elder was presumably a skykid, the first skykid. We still don’t know their fate
ahhh i see. tysm!!
the lore is really interesting haha. thank you for answering so quickly <33
they're the only elder to never be mentioned by name (?) so that's always a fun topic
I have a thought that Night used to be the Eden Elder until One completed the Trials, in which Night stepped down to create the Vault but no real evidence of that
sorry for asking again but who would Night be?
Vault elder, some elders have inside names that are refers to the time of day by the devs
There’s a full list about it here if your intersted
Thank you all for answering so fast!
Hmm, wonder why the spacing on this is so wonky sometimes
I wonder why some elder names use the Hebrew letters like Tsadi but others use day names
Preferences really, I tend to use a mix
Really it depends on whatever the person talking about them prefer. I use the time of gay names exclusively
wait there is a king and a prince?
gay names
I guess Sunset Sunday doesn’t sound better
Yeah his name is Resh 🙂
In concept art, which isn’t canon yet many in the fandom like to characterize
Ah that little bugger
They do technically appear in canon , but we know very little about either of them. The jury’s out on making theories, you can theorize almost anything and it’ll work
this made me imagine a "time of gay" watch. what time is it now?!
ok sorry for interrupting
Yeah what al said, most tend to use a concept art version as the basis but there’s like little known at all
This was a typo but I’m keep it lmao
Yeah his is his character sheet
The character goes by many names, yet the only way we’ll know are the Animation Project subtitles
To my knowledge he is the only elder we have ever seen depicted in his child form, which leads me to think he was a child of light.
drafting a patent as we speak
Yaya It’s cool to think what could’ve been but I’m pretty sure they moved away from the “corrupt” path concider if the theme of the game doesn’t really have a bad guy
Somthing Somthing hero’s journey diversion lemme find-
Being corrupted ≠being evil
I think the role of the prince/king in Zhao’s concepts was taken by Chosen One, so some similarities like the Failed Hero’s Journey, but there are differences as there’s no evidence that One was literally corrupted like the king was in Zhao’s timeline and the prince/king never did the Trials that One completed
Yeah originally he was supposed to like throw stuff at us or something to make Eden worse but they scrapped that idea
They literally had a boss fight in a way in the concept art
Not trying to use that as evidence but Zhao was definitely going for corrupted was evil/scary
Would be cool to see that but also the poor moths would suffer
The king bossfight might’ve been scrapped, but developers still mention the King. If it didn’t exist in the Sky canon, why would they mention it?
I think the King wasn’t corrupted and evil, just made a mistake. The only difference is naming
Yeah ofcorse, not saying the corrupt aspect carried over to the final game
Just saying that concept sheet moved away from them being corrupted
where do they mention the king?/genq
I think it was one of the devs but it feels like Mandela affect by now💀
I can’t search by role but I’ll try
Tbh I haven’t seen the devs mention the “king” in my entire year in Skycord, the latest reference being in 2020, which was around the time that lorechat was focused on the king, so really the devs were prob speaking the players’ language as they call dark dragons krill and Belonging Ancestor Granny or Grandma.
Tbh this entire argument is ruthlessly pendantic and it’s like the 5th time we’ve had it. I’m just gonna call them Chosen One to avoid referring to the connotation from Zhao concepts
if you input all of the devs into search manually,/hj
If you’re thinking of what I’m thinking, Alasdair, the fanbase in 2020 is not like the fanbase in 2021
And it’s not just a passing mention
Same here yeah, like they exist but barely in their own way (thinking of shattering memory, eden mural vault cutscene and statues) unless we get Somthing huge there’s not much to talk about of them other than what was talked about before dozens of times
oh yeah that I forgot about that
Funny how most of the people in that convo are now mods or community shepherds or gone, no in-between
Idk why I didn’t think it was ash
Point still stands, since sky is going with the crumb by crumb bit, but even those are few in between even if it’s been over 3 years compared to everything else we get
I’m betting it’ll be another 5 years if we ever get somthing big
the pedant in me is obligated to mention that that could very easily mean that the king might never directly appear in the game/story
If they exist but not in the game/story, where do they exist?
Distant memory ig
That’s the vibes I’m getting
that's for the devs to know and for us to maybe find out one day ¯_(ツ)_/¯
I mean that still counts as fitting in the story
#lore-discussion-spoilers message
Man do some devs not talk
Noticing the “kind of” and up to interpretation bit
The entire lore is up to interpretation
I agree with the “kind of” part, the King isn’t a central character in Sky’s narrative but one that exists nonetheless
Not all of it some is set in stone
can’t change darkstone was made in factories for example
Yeah true, I won’t judge what the devs do and don’t know cuz that’ll be silly, but I don’t think they even have a clear timeline on what the kings role even is or if they’d even elaborate further other than they exist at one point and played a important role
By “exist at one point”, do you mean they exist at one point in the Sky world or they existed at one point in the Sky game’s development?
Existed one point in sky, I know there’s clear signs they existed Ofcorse i won’t deny that but they really aren’t phyiscally around anymore
Like actually seen outside of murals and statues
Ah, you mean a fully voice-acted role with 3 musical numbers? Nope that’s never gonna happen
I’m not a full-on king fanatic, I just think using the name to connect a bunch of murals we see in Sky is useful
I think the latter is the most probable, the king has statues everywhere because they played an important role earlier in development, but now 2-3 years later things might've changed yet TGC can't just remove those giant statues so they might try to make those statues fit within the modern lore somehow, making stuff up as they go
Meant elder level as being there it’s not like they’re gonna sing queendom and take us on a musical journey like aurora
But it’s not like Sky’s modern lore is that different from base-game lore besides us knowing more, especially because those things were only added in 2019.
There hasn’t been any outright retcons as far as I know
Pointing Pilgrim and Ushering Migrant:
We don't know that much actually, it's mostly wild speculation and as far as stuff we actually know goes, things might've completely changed under the hood and we have no idea
Also the isle intro murals:
And if these Isle things were changed to be better suited for the lore, you’d think they’d remove/redesign the statues and references to the king after 3 years now
Pls someone tell me what dark stone is
Yeah I can see that happening if they desire, that’s for them to decide
Id point out that unlike the murals, the statues are sorta bigger and might be harder to redesign.
And actually could still be related to lore, just maybe not the king? (I mean the eden mural still exists)
Thank you !
Changing 2 spirit memories from the tutorial level isn't really as drastic as removing a ton of gigantic statues of a character that a good chunk of the fandom thinks is important which would also imply redesigning the layout of an entire area to make up for the absence of these structures
Also this would imply making/remaking assets with resources that could instead be spent into making content for a new season or "days of" event, while changing a few existing memories and a few murals is actually a pretty quick and minor change that takes barely any time and resources in comparison
The Eden changes in Shattering were an exception because that season didn't actually add that much in terms of content aside from Eden changes so that was something they could afford to do at the time
that could be argued to be season content as well
I’ve noticed that the King statues do appear in Light Awaits, which is significant.
I only wish we can summon the ancients who’ve actually played LA to ask about this
If they thought a character was irrelevant an unneeded, why wouldn’t they remove it? Light Awaits had a lot of things removed and replaced compared to even launch Sky, yet the statues remain
-
The king might've remained relevant to the lore for much longer than other LA stuff
-
Maybe TGC decided it was easier to repurpose the statues than replacing them
The meeting place appears to be the 4-player door in the second level of Vault, with chairs too big for even Ancestors
I hate that meeting table so much oh my god I have a grudge against it that burns hotter than a thousand suns
But why
Repurpose into what? Aurora and Shattering only increase their relevancy, with the pointy bit in the final Eden memory resembling the statue a ton
it being for elders makes only slightly more sense than it being for ancestors. The tables are too small for like half of them, there’s only 6 chairs when there are 8 elders (do they sit on each other’s laps???) and another reason I sadly cannot mention here but that which spawns endless jokes everytime it comes up
Its been a hot minute since I looked at the table but.. last I checked, The meeting table doesnt have enough seats (or one of the seats is gone) but it doesnt have enough seats
- Eden Elder gets the child-friendly high chair
- Valley Elders sit on the same chair, one of them has 2 “divots”
is that a LMAO AL
Those divots 😡 Al nailed why I hate them so much
THEYRE 2 SMALL CHAIRS FUSED INTO ONE NOTHING ELSE
I feel like that place is just for scholars tbh
Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if the eden elder's chair is gone from the meeting table as like... signal for the fall of the eden elder or something something...
I just forgot what I was going to say entirely
The table is far too big for any scholar
There’s also a chair knocked off, possibly the Isle Elder
Rage filled shoutout to the dev that put those imprints in the top of the chairs, you know exactly what you were doing, and I hate you for it
Why would you accuse isle of such a thing 😭
Who knows, maybe the scholars like uppies
The Vault scholars were poor chairmakers, THATS IT
@random token the isle elder’s also missing from the Eden door/portal, perhaps there was conflict
He wasn't part of the cool kids club tm
Relevant fic excerpt
I REMEMBERED MY QUESTIONS
is that table a conversation bench and if so how many spots does it have
Many
I'll revisit the table today
5, not counting the one knocked over
If the chairs are that big, each chair could act like a bench. Aint no way just 1 sky kid is gonna sit on a chair that big
Would vault elder be neutral then if they held meetings within vault?
Honestly the benches could just be some random design.
Hope we get hints of the King in the project though, if there are any. I can hope
The vaults top seems like a replica of the place between orbit, conclusions drawn from exactly the same model usage, its possible they held meetings there instead of the vault.
Meetings could’ve stopped before the war
@sharp lichen wait baud, I remember you mentioning that one of the chairs were tipped, and that was related to a conflict from isle elder? What if a meeting was taking place and the eden boom suddenly happened, and they all rushed to go try and fix it?
@keen shore and yeah I kinda assumed
That would be cool, but wouldn’t all the chairs be knocked off?
Why would they? They don't all have to be knocked off
Some elders are less athletic than others. Who knows, maybe getting up from a chair without knocking it over might be too hard
GW Elder, man’s is HUGEE
Y'all I'm gonna ask an obvious answer but humor me: what are the lights at the back lf sky kid capes?
Stars representing our winged light
Absorbed children
This part is rlly interesting, thx to give your hypothesis 👌
If it does, does that mean that ancestors have/are Winged Light? Because I checked the sprites and every one with a cape also has a singular light in the back
Do you think light creatures are scaled? 🤔
Ah ancestor having wing lights is a visual bug that happened when trying to fix another bug, some ancestors like grandma have multiple stars
But it’s purely a bug they’re still trying to fix
Only the ones with no cape don't have a light
I bet it might be hard to show a cape wing light without a cape.
It's the same for capeless skykids too.
What bug is it trying to fix and why does every ancestor with a cape have a light?
If I recall there was a bug that make skykids stars become black even when fully charged, and in the process of fixing they created a new bug
It appeared in Season of Performance I recall. Spirits didn't have a cape star before hand, and don't need one since they do not fly around the levels like we do. I believe the stars on the back of our capes are like an aesthetically pleasing look to a game mechanic, the mechanic being able to tell how charged our flight is.
Yaya, the ancestor star capes didn’t appear till pre performance which was also when the black star bug became an issue before it was fixed
It's a bug, but probably not a high priority one since it hasn't been fixed yet.
It has been established that spirits used boats and mantas for flight before, they could not fly on their own.
You can see this in Citadel quests and in Wind Paths for instance.
Also, do the paintings in Harmony Hall have relevance? Like is it just a fun easter egg or something else? Cause the 2nd diamond in the first painting confused me. The other painting with last floor of Vault be looking hella sus
Yea that update’s patch notes said they fixed a bug with skykids’ cape stars. The bug still exists (floating cape stars) and the ancestors’ cape stars appeared. Figured it was junky tangled coding
Just an Easter egg, plus to have us be able to set a play anywhere probably too
The last painting just appears red due to the lighting of the room which is a reddish tone, though it does give it an ominous feeling doesn't it? 👻
Oh no not the ominous stuff, I'm talking about confirmed existance of the floor outside of the vault. I'm really backing the whole "the rest of vault is some weird memory mix thingy" because there is a secondary diamond below the platform that resembles the top projector
We can also interpret the Eden painting could also be a portrait of how Eden commonly appeared at the time. But it's main purpose is to give us skykids the ability to have a play backdrop in all the realms of Sky.
Concidering we appear in an entirely different place after vault cutscene I like to believe somthing similar happened, could be jumbled memeory or the result of a color light
Purple light, to be precise
Oh I see! Yes Vault itself is a bit odd in the way its set up. Parts of it do seem like its all a figment of our minds. Have you noticed the very top of Vault, the room before Eden, appears like the bottom floor?
The crystals seem to have at least a few defined usages though. Floatation, seen in Forest, Valley and likely at the bottom of this elevator; Power, seen in the Forest and Prairie Gates; and Memory display, seen in Vault and the Rememberance quests.
this just makes me think it might be darkstone to lift the platform up and keep it afloat
how come theres only galactic jellyfish
Galactic jellyfish?
yea the cosmic ones
Probably talking about this ->
spirit jellyfish and not real jellyfish?
no but theres only cosmic jellyfish in the world, but all our clothes of jellies are white
like the comparison of white mantas and cosmic mantas
wheres the white jellies
they killed them all

extinct 😔
we're wearing the last white jellies

Or, they could have just evolved to become translucent as a defense mechanism? So they didn't really die out, just evolved.
then why make only white jelly clothes
Translucent cosmetics didn't seem possible until recently with Aurora
IGNORING THAT 👺
Right, might be some time until we'll get to see cosmic light creature cosmetics
either that or reintroduce white jellies
Cosmic manta cape is a highly requested item, I feel it would be a huge opportunity to pass up for an upcoming season
i would have gotten the last jellyfish stuff from shattering if the bloom on those items wasn’t always awful
the only live jellyfish are the elder ones (crowned) after eden and before orbit
Wrong, there are tons of jellyfish in Sanctuary Islands, one or two in the Assembly Treehouse, and all the ones you climb to get to the Forest Temple.
and those are all translucent blue with yellow accents, the defining traits of cosmic creatures
the jellyfish in the aurora memories that interact with the spirits are opaque
Except King Jellyfish also are translucent. Partially, but still translucent.
thats so real theyre the last white ones 🥹
I'll fold on the translucency, but they aren't blue and sparkly like stars. my money is on them being alive
That's a good point, but why can't the regular jellies also be alive?
🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹 KING/QUEEN JELLIES ARE WHITE 🥹🥹
How could I forget about that? I gotta go back and relive the concert sometime.
my precious babies 🥹
I know some people have been setting up specific times to get the concert full again, but I haven't been able to go to any. 😔
i have the wings, i can bring you sometime!
Oh, I have the Wings too! The issue is I'm bad at figuring out timezones.
Why is there a place called village in Prairie but no houses or buildings? Or are they all fallen or ruined?
there are some living spaces, even if they're not houses as you might be used to, but rather built into the hills like little hobbit houses
thats a good question, considering youd think the village in the dreams area should be the one in ruin cause of the constant snow
They lived inside the hills. You can see that in Slumbering Shipwright's bit. They have a bed and windows. Maybe they lived inside hills instead of out in the open because it was more sustainable than bringing wood from Forest?
i wouldn’t think so. dreams is a part of valley, which is/was pretty much the “New York” of the sky kingdom. i’m pretty sure they, with the wealth the probably possessed, built sustainable buildings of stone. i mean, their homes are topped with gold of all things.
sidenote we don’t actually know if the cosmic effect is something that means the organism is dead, i mean does that make all the light shrooms and light plants underwater the ghosts of dead plants?
unrelevant to the conversation.. but
Every spirit from rhythm is based off of birds right? what is juggler based off of. ice-cream?
their hair reminds me cockatoo sort of!
yea that one
kiwi bird /j /j /j
also, did anyone live in forest? it was it always rainy and dull? forgive my randomness
what about greeter?
yes! theres a couple houses scattered about in the forest
there’s those big treehouses!
Eagle or parrot is the most common interpretation I see, Dancer could be a peacock 🦚
thanks!!
i dunno...
oh yes! thanks for the reminder! love to visit and hang out on those beds when i get a chance 😭
i remember some cool old concept art that shows cosmic jellyfish in forest being created from the lightshrooms, uncertain if that’s still an idea in canon but it’s pretty neat i thought
Oooo I really like that concept! Concept art or headcanon
Not only the light particles seen when a jellyfish/light fungus recharges a skykid seem similar, there are no other variations of light fungi (aside from the ones who turned to stone/got petrified)
Hi it just occurred to me that these are vessels used for power diamonds in a way, usually used to power
ALSO just dawned on me the mechanical thing in forests temple is the same one in the broken temple so it definitely was a factory of sorts
ANOTHER cool thing is that the same mechiene is originally gray until after forests cutscene which I find super interesting. Could easily change it to be gold seen in broken temple but it doesn’t
About that last photo, the bells around the door to the backyard of the forest temple turn to gold after the forest elder cutscene iirc
I really love your observation though, Tac!!
Oo i see, same for prarie bells which I also just remembered
Could be darkness maybe? In a weird way
Right I find the vessels interesting cuz it also implies what shipwreck was carrying, and it’s in the same direction as treasure reef too, which is also a factory
So it’s pretty likely shipwreck could’ve possibly been attacked on purpose during the war, which isn’t uncommon too as that tatic is usually used to limit supplies to the offending party
Hi
Lorechat never sleeps
#lore-discussion-spoilers definitely needs some SNEEP SNORP
what are the little block things that are stored in vault?
Memory cube, it save a specifical memory n project it thx to power diamond or darkstone i guess
ohh ok... so it is a giant library full of peoples memories that most likely all have passed away by now?
Yh kinda ! I think they kept it there in order to keep their memory safe since it's smth important and precious, even more in sky realms
I've question for lore chat... What's the meaning behind THIS
it always looked like a grave of sorts to me...
Maybe, but spirit grave are shown differently and this Is like... In middle of the path lol, it might be a sort of trophy
Cool statue of bird
Yeah, memories are an important factor in Sky
Think of this: the shards have memories (light creatures)
The shards come from the big diamond at Eden
So, the big diamond at Eden also stores memories. Perhaps a giant memory cube?
It wasn’t always rainy, in the Switch trailer and animation teaser we see a dry forest, and we also see a mural of the Forest’s rain being created by the elder, probably as a form of defense
the big diamond seems corrupted and broken... maybe because of all the bad memories of people and war?
Have you seen the Shattering memories? The Eden Diamond appears in one of them
Along with Eden elder or is it Eden spirit idk
hmm... true? but how can the shards used in memory boxes be blue then if they come from the same source?
someone had the idea of the eden diamond being one big memory thingy like the little memory thingies we make into little prop areas. imagine that but on a much larger scale
I have gained a new pass time. I am now going to stalk this chat because there are so many little details and lore facts I never knew how deep the lore went in this game! I love it
welcome
ooo lore
I like lore
what are the cosmic mantas actually... are they spirits/dead mantas? or memories??? or a whole diffrent kind of manta entirely?
im guessing they’re just spirits of mantas, mostly judging off the one that spawns from the manta bones and teaches you cosmic manta call
ohh yeah, forgot about that one...
My opinion is that they are most likely memories
We see what seems to be a spirit manta when we gain the ability to swim (and this manta has notable differences from the cosmic manta), while the cosmic mantas originate from memory cubes (see: Remembrance 2nd ult prop)
all the spirits in sky are kinda sparkly and translucent, its the same for these cosmic mantas...so maybe they are just spirits of mantas
The bones that gives you the cosmic manta call doesn't resemble a manta tbh, it more of resembles a smaller version of the bones we see in the Forest Boneyard
also it’s always been kinda weird to me that every jellyfish has cosmic manta colors but we never see any jellyfish that are full white like most light creatures
do ya think it means anything or it’s literally just they’re transparent because they’re jellyfish
maybe, if cosmic mantas are just a diffrent species next to normal mantas, that they might have come from the same place?
One of two ways (or maybe both, idk this is just a headcanon/guess)
a. Jellyfishes are extinct, only their spirits remain
b. They share a connection with the light fungi found in forest (yes, I am aware that there are jellyfishes exist in Daylight Prairie, perhaps they migrated there to have a more suitable environment)
this just made me realize that we have only seen glowing jellyfish
Well..
Technically we do see king jellyfishes in orbit, so point b might be the least likely, but it is certainly an interesting topic to talk about
True but even then they are translucent no?
Or is that just because they're dead?
Yup, they are
Possibly dead, yeah, seeing that they are present in what is technically heaven
Imma go back to work I'll check in on new questions in this chat later I am very intrigued now
Actually we might have seen what was a spirit manta already in the Abyss quests since this manta fits the spirit color palette better than the cosmic mantas do.
I’ve seen the thought floating around that the cosmic mantas are artificial constructs created by Vault scholars.
woa what I never noticed that the spirit manta swam up too when all the fish got released
Yea it’s hard to spot when you’re in the moment. I got this screenshot by slowing down a video I took of the final Abyss quest
And then cosmic mantas are just projections of memory
is the season of Lightseekers based off of anything, like how season of dreams is? (Japanese influence for the guide)
So the entire concept of memories is like our version of technology (phones that record, cameras, etc)?
Couldn’t say memories exactly being the reason but more for darkstone being the main cause that just happen’s to be able to store memories in a way
Still unsure how it works but darkstone would be the cause that just happens to be able to record memories
Interesting. So did the scholars stock the library of vault with memories because they knew their death was impending? It’s interesting to think what could be in all those memory cubes.
not exactly sure but it wouldn’t be too far off.
Whenever storing memories really kicked off before or after the war started is still unclear
Nothing I know of, which is odd because most/all Sky seasonal cosmetics have at least some influence from either previous seasons or real life clothing
that's odd
@half zealot summoning you to the field if you wish to talk about this
WHATSH AHEPDND
Hi
Season of Lightseekers is most likely based off of East Asia! I wouldn’t assign it a specific region, because a lot of the cosmetics could come from many different places there - since they’re close, they shared their cultures a lot
Things like Pioneer’s oil paper umbrella, Piggyback’s hair stick, and Double Five’s hat all stand out to me as being inspired from historical (and common) pieces in East Asia because of that cultural proximity
Oo now that I think about it yeah I can see it!!
thanks!!! makes sense
What realm is your Skykid from?
This is the 3rd time this week you’ve asked this
