I was thinking potentially having the rebirth gate in the center on the side with the elders, and have the Dawn Elder standing within it beckoning the player through since you end up back in Dawn?
I thought I'd drop in on this channel since I wanted a more lore perspective since it's the in-game meaning of Dawn not being on the gate that was keeping me from including them in the first place

It still makes sense to me based on the glyphs, and TGC has been comfy with heavy messages in their games. Flower is about humans killing our only planet and dooming ourselves as a species, and Journey shows both sides completely dying out over a war for power provided from the sky. While I agree it's a dark message, taking advantage of the youth (how do you feel right now about old CEOs affecting the climate change and your future prospects?), it could just be that Sky doesn't force the lore like it did in Journey for that reason, too?

"people tend to ascribe gender based on presentation" is a sociological observation – we live in a world where there are gender stereotypes and norms, so it's assumed both in game and irl that people who seem to follow those roles are the gender society would say they are. however, gender expression does not always correlate to gender identity.

for instance, in the West, there is the norm of women having long hair, however there are men and nonbinary people who have long hair and don't associate with femininity themselves and women who have short hair. having long hair does not make someone a woman. in-game, we have spirits with long hair like Tearful Light Miner or Praying Acolyte that people assume to be women because of their hair, however their assumptions do not make these spirits women. they just have long hair. in Sky's culture, that gender connotation does not apply to them.

I don't know the lore for that, but I do recall the spirit, and mentioned it in original post that skykids don't form a body until they land on the ground, they're falling stars (light) before that.

You can't blame someone for thinking people with beards would be guys, and people with a chest is a girl. I dont want to say the other word, because this is a kid's game, but you get what I mean.
There are a lot of games and movies that still use male and female characters, and add people who can be agender.

In the game, there are spirits that wear dresses, have the superhero body type like the wasteland elder, and some of the spirits that look like they can be either or.

Last question though.
If gender does not matter, how do spirits have kids?
I dont want to make it awkward, but would it be a birds and the bees thing or the stork that brings babies?

it's more of an idea than something supported in game, but it's basically the concept of Dawn (and Isle as a result) being partially cut off from the other kingdoms due to them being contrary to the advancement in the usage of power diamonds. I dont believe they were 100% opposite to it; you can see power diamonds in Isle's temple and on the small area besides it. I think moreso, they realized the result was going to be catastrophical before the others did, which caused a disagreement, which could be one of the explanations as to why theyre not included in the eden gate. It was the first idea I had, however I myself have some problems with the theory, I just like the idea that Dawn is not this passive elder just cause they look old

I will say that judging how shocked those spirits seem to be over finding a random child after a star fell, it’s possible that this is not how ancestor children are created! Tac & Birdlem has a really neat idea about ancestors making shells for their children and then the elders “bless” them to life, like the “all are given breath my starlight” line from the intro. I think it’s really sweet and it would explain realm constellations to some extent

In a nutshell: a single or multiple ancestors mold a vessel for a smaller ancestor, a kid maybe toddler age or smaller. They give a piece of themselves (like maybe their soul or magic but also uses magic to make sure said ancestor becomes their own person and not a clone)

Then they bring the vessel to their elders temple to the kid can be blessed (given breath of starlight as Salem put it) and the kid ancestor is given their first breath.

I forgot who mentioned this but somone said along the lines of “elders could be starlight and ancestors could be stars”

TDLR/ Icoming Textwall I know I've been at this theory for months now (and have mentioned it before) but I thought I'd discuss it here again. So, we all now the general story of Sky, how we were "waken up" by a spiritual force sending us on various missions to save the spirits and bring the lost stars home. That is not what I am going to talk about here. However, it is related to that story; but it goes to before the stars actually fell. Through experience of the Auorora quests, we learned about each spirit and their stories which reflect their past and the people they are now. I have a hunch that the Aurora spiritis are the "original" children of light. Ie; Seed of Hope symbolizes the "rebirth" of a new world. This will be important later. Take a look at Shattering. Each memory shows what happened moments before the Sky kingdom fell into darkness. Now, back to the Aurora spirits (this concerns The Seed of Hope). What if The Seed of Hope was a piece of Megabird's soul to rejuvinate the Sky realms? What if all of the Aurora spirits were conncected to Megabird in some way? By connecting these two seasons together we can see the obvious entanglement of the Elder spirits before they fell too. But what I am trying to get at here, is what caused the stars to fall? What "mistake" was made here?

Golden Wasteland Lore Theory
BG: This theory stems from the previous theory I just posted (see above ⬆️ ); However, it is completely separate from that.

Golden wasteland, the desolate realm of darkness and isolation. Long after the war, all was lost. Not a single sign of life was to be found. Until, many centuries later we the Sky child of light (or the player in this case) were awoken by a powerful force that sends us on a journey to save the spirits and to bring the lost stars home.

Now, this might be a far jump but it is important to my hypothesis. The 4th quest in the Season of Aurora (The Seed of Hope) shows us the turmoil of the Golden Wasteland realm. Nothing but war, death, and corruption ensues. The seed of hope is now hopeless in the very last cutscene. At the end of the quest, I have wondered what caused the war to occur.

At the end of the quest, we see The Seed of Hope "hopeful" again despite all that had happened. They are hopeful for a better world and use their light to rejuvinate the Golden Wasteland.

For a future season, I would like to see a story dedicated (somewhat) to the Seed of Hope, but moreso on the theme of "rebirth" or "redemption" (this has been mentioned before). It would be great if TGC could implement something like this into Sky that focuses solely on the lore and less on the gameplay (ie; mechanics).

Good writing also comes from just writing. Write something small (100 words is arguably harder than 1K+!), then look back on it in around a week or so. You'll notice areas where it falls flat, and so when you write the next time you'll change it. Sometimes it ends up better, sometimes worse, but that's all part of the experience

oh I've done that to multiple skykids. shards seem to push the light, and thus the memories, they contain out. when a red shard pierces a skykid's shell, that light enters the skykid and meshes with their inner light.

this is how I have Tomatoá with manta memories, Amander with Rain Elder memories, Obliquity with Dusk Elder memories, and Bolibo with jellyfish memories. they're souped with the light of the entities the shard contained.

with the shards i write it so that the amount of trouble a skykid has is dependent on how similar/compatible the skykid and the creature are. if i had a skykid who was, say, a whale skid, they would have a much easier time coping with their new memories & instincts than my krill skid, because whales are light creatures & mesh better with skykids

with my krill-sharded skid acheron, it turns into a battle of wills that they lose & they act like a full-on krill for a while. that wouldn't happen with a whale shard

acheron is quiet & fond of routines. they get cold easily and find themselves sitting close to fire or other skykids. they have some aggressive instincts but usually they can suppress them
when they do speak, their voice is whispery and rough. they move their hands a lot when they talk because it helps them express things with fewer words. they growl when antagonized & their hair puffs up when startled. they also purr (i call it rumbling) and they might headbutt you if they like you

with Bolibo, they really liked jellyfish already (I'd argue they were jellyfish shishkebab) so the jellyfish shard just amplified their pre-existing characteristics to an extreme. I haven't gotten most of them figured out yet but that's just the basic concept for them.

Tomatoá, on the other hand, got manta memories. I'd say they were more of a bird person before, but now they're just so manta. though they got regular mantas from the shard, so they exhibit more manta behaviors. combined with their leadership qualities, they act more like an elder manta now – protecting their "flock," flying a lot, making manta calls to summon others, pulling others under their wings.

zefyr(sort-of a skysona but when used as a skysona I don’t include the trauma): tall, acts like a bird sometimes(but more to mess with nyx than anything), and Eden sacrifice to get ac for their buddies
nyx: silly little, cocky, loves krill dodging (not great at it, has to get zefyr to keep them safe)
mystery man(I don’t have a name for them yet): just kinda shows up randomly. other than that they’re really nice. super polite. appearance changes but always dragon mask with rainbow tassel and clown hat.
komorebi: super timid. loves the vault/lightseekers. ventured into hidden forest just to talk with the transmasc king themselves 💪
shard warrior: also kinda shows up randomly. don’t have a name for them either. still deciding what memories were shoved inside their skull. really protective of just about anyone. (will def. take care of nyx if they’re getting bullied by krill and zefyr is busy)

besides acheron, my other main skykid is Taz. They're an orange light soup and a healer. While Acheron has to adapt to things about them left by the shard that they can't control, Taz has a tight hold on their appearance. They're fairly eloquent and tend to go on tangents. Their speech patterns are only really informal when they're very tired. They're blind in one eye due to an incident in Eden. Taz & Acheron are inseparable

Ok so, one of my OCs (Zyvia) get souped with a red shard, and then my other OC (Xena) gives a part of their light to save the first OC (which led to a memory wipe), now the first OC has both been souped with a red shard AND their friend's light

And if I remember correctly, souping is the mixture of 2 or more sources of light (or a force). For Zyvia's situation, yes they were souped with a red shard, but they also got souped with a fragment of light from another light creature, not the whole light creature itself

Ingredients:

• Raw darkstone
• Something to make the darkstone have a smooth surface
• A staff (for reference)
• Your own (Skykid's) light
• 1 or more than 1 colored light (Zel did all of the colored lights)
• Alot of time on your hands

Procedure:
it is recommended to prepare the lights beforehand, Zel had to drain his wing energy (for a very small drop of light), recharge, and repeat (till they had 3 bottles of light, preferably the ones that ar ethe size of small-medium jars). Mine out the raw darkstone from cave systems (and try not to get crushed while you're at it). Once you have mined out the darkstones, get supports to hold the darkstone together (make sure they are SUPER tight, you don't want light flowing out of it, trust me, it is not fun). After doing that, get something that smooths out stone (I forgot what it was called), and start smoothing it out (which can be VERY tedious). After probably HOURS of smoothing the darkstone, carve out a staff mold using the staff you currently have (the normal firework staff) as a reference, asking an ancestor is always an option. Then, pour light onto the staff mold, in Zel's case, they poured 1 jar of light (which filled 1/3 of the mold), wait for the light to become this liquid-solid state, add a bit of colored light to the light (Zel mixed the red and orange light for this), rinse and repeat with the other two jars of light (and 2 colored lights per pour). After pouring, leave the staff to dry out, and when it dries up, you now have a staff with the colored light's power(s)

Basically, Zel can hold the staff more efficiently since it is made from their light
Basically what the magnet feature can do is like a fridge magnet, it sticks to Zel whenever Zel would want it to, and so that they won't have to soup themselves with the colored lights

What the devs said was
"The characters and spirits in Sky are deliberately designed to let players express their chosen gender in whatever manner they choose. We believe in the power of player choice and self-expression, and encourage you to discover what that means for your in-game character."
So essentially if you want to believe the characters in the game are agender and do not reproduce like mammals, that's fine, and if someone else wants to believe there are men and women who have children that's also fine
