I don't really side by the theory "Hugging the Prince", but I do respect it, I mean, the only place we have seen the Prince was in the Concept art
So either:

1- These two wl hugging do not represent the Skykids hugging before orbit
2- We go with the "The Prince/King is in the game, but it is the light child we hug before Orbit" theory

For the second option, that means there’s either 2 Kings or 1 Prince/ 1 King, unless the giant head is a spear

Either when the Eden mountain is corrupted, the king got corrupted, or the mountain got corrupted, then the king slowly succumbed to the corruption

3. The first WL is made, the memory of the Prince and Skykid. Considering how the WL can’t be seen anymore, it probably faded with time

I wanna reiterate krii’s point here that the kid had a light in their chest in the Switch release trailer versus covering theirs in the new teaser. We see ancestor children who don’t have lights in their chest. Maybe this kid was taught to cover theirs, but why?

They’re different, they’re special. Something is up with them. Since the two adults with them resemble Rejecting Voyager and Ushering Stargazer, perhaps this child is the skykid that fell in the latter’s memory?

Ok so with the 5 quest and ine of my previous assumptions about everything in the memories actually happening around the same area
In the theory vault it’s agreed upon that the eden diamond blew up creating the storm around eden
And the last memory seems to be just that, the elders trying to stop the king from doing something before the beacon is overloaded and blows up
Trapping everyone and everything in the area into a petrified statue stuck forever in the void

We already know that the elders are stuck in their own limbos of some sort, so what if that memory shows the state of their physical bodies
Which would also mean the kings physical body is also petrified in the void and stuck there forever

For me from what I understand by watching the three videos of the animation project... is that the island of dawn has not always been an island but a huge continent

Hi all, sorry if this question has already been brought up a bunch of times, but was that last shard memory (especially where the winged light was) implying that the spirits were using skykids to power the giant crystal, or was I reading too much into it?

Option 1: The Elders are bigger than their normal body due to the power (and maybe the praise of the population) they had prior to this incident
Option 2: Technical inconsistency

This could work actually. They used to be god-like beings (or able to take the form of such) until the eden incident, which stripped them back down to their normal forms.
This could actually make sense. Theres a concept art of the prince and king, where it appears that the king is just the prince at the top of a tower thing, like in a mech suit. Maybe the elders are the same.

We don’t know the origin of winged light. There’s a lot of theories, but given the dearth of evidence in-game to the creation of winged light, these theories are all speculation. Also I doubt skykids existed during the ancestor era (except for one) so there weren’t skykids around to be used to create the Eden diamond

Skykids are the only beings other than the creatures to be able to fly unaided. I don't think the capes are a technology, rather they are a blessing of the light, for the skykids as lightbearers.
I hc that they technically dont need a flight worthy cape, just a form to manifest their WL power, such as a scarf or drape.

Yeah! My theory is that too much light is blinding, and too much darkness is suffocating. Things were naturally in balance at first, with Light and Dark keeping each other in check, but with the darkstone production leading to loss of natural Light, and the pollution caused by said production threw the Light off balance. The Eden crystal was created to harness Light and try to restore the balance, but they got too much Light and things spiraled out of control.

It’s probably because the water in the Trial is cold. Skykids shiver when they lose darkness, so they might be averse to the cold

Skykids are only hurt when underwater presumably cos water pouring into their bodies can extinguish their flame. You’ll notice in the Water Trial, you’ll only go poof when the water reaches your chest, at the flame hole. Though that’s when skykids have no winged light. Perhaps when diving the winged light acts as a defense mechanism to prevent the water form extinguishing their flame, hence why once your “breath” meter runs out, you lose winged light first, then get extinguished and die.

As for why the Forest rain drains light, it’s thought that the rain there is infused with darkness, which takes light. Think of it analogous to acid rain.

That's a good question! It could be because of game-constrants, as it's possible that once the rain ends in Forrest it was assumed the player wouldn't be touching it as the rain already causes damage & thus there wasn't a need to add it in.

But it's my personal theory that the lightshrooms & darkness plants present consume the darkness from the rainwater to grow! Leaving the pool mostly purified between sessions of rain & thus ok for skykids to step in.

As of now (in terms of evidence) I don’t have very much. However, here is what I do have. Elder bird said that if all the spirits decided to build their home in the clouds, they would lose their divine right to ascend. The spirits didn’t listen, and hence darkness fell and their light faded. I feel like there is more than what actually meets the eye here. Maybe it wasn’t entirely the spirits’ fault for not listening and their intentions weren’t malicious. I feel like in order to understand the cause of what brought said darkness to sky, we have to find the source of that problem. Another theory I’ve had concerns the spirits from Season of Prophecy (this will be important later) have something to do with this. Now, back to Elder Bird. Elder Bird might have had a vision of this turmoil and was so alarmed by it that they had to warn everyone (the spirits) but were dismissive of them. Now, back to the Prophecy theory. Season of Prophecy quest giver has this same vision. But it is much darker and crueler. The guide screams and a group of concerned prophets are standing behind them. The prophecy guide brushes this off as a “weird dream” but later goes to Elder Bird to tell them of this vision. Elder bird shares the same worries. Hence the warning. So, with that said I feel like there is more to the problem that we don’t know yet. I hope this is informative for you.

• their physical bodies petrifying like how skykid shells petrify with light [I HAVE ANOTHER IDEA THAT BUILDS ON THIS ILL MENTION IT IN A SEC]
• all of their cutscenes being very similar in color pallete, emptiness, and appearances to the shattering memories & the limbo scene
• eyes in statue glow blue before you give them flame and yellow after (just like darkstone!)
• corrupted darkstone (like Eden Diamond) sucks in light every chance it gets (like the petrifying idea above I will further expand on this idea in a bit with how it works in Shattering specifically)
• this scene, where their light would’ve gotten sucked into the diamond

Originally I also added that this is why we have to constantly give them flame as well but after some discussion that could be just a gameplay mechanic — unless you assume they’d just enter a comatose like state similar to petrified spirits & skykids when they lose all their light vs completely disintegrating, then it works!

I like this idea because it provides a solid explanation for how their pocket dimensions work and why, and why we’re able to reach them by meditating at all — since we enter the shattering memories the same way. It also provides an explanation for how to free them — destroy or defuse the diamond.

Personally I think it’s definitely much less “They managed to escape” and more like “they’re stuck in there against their will.” In fact I would guess the same thing happened to the creatures from the other shattering memories we see; their light being now trapped inside the diamond, unable [in its current state] to escape.

Had an awesome discussion with Alasdair a few days back about how darkstone works, our current guess is that the elders’ light got sucked into the diamond and scattered, and that with lighting the candles in front of their statues, we give them enough light to reform and for us to enter where they’re at. If their souls themselves got shattered it would be a nice double meaning to Season of Shattering

I don't think those kids are skykids, rather ancestor children because you could see they don't have lights in their chest. from the Switch release trailer and this skid covering their chest with their arm in this teaser, they are a skykid. perhaps the first skykid. so the ancestor adults (presumably Rejecting Voyager and Ushering Stargazer) are trying to figure out what to do with them

Hey Lorechat! I just saw the trailer, and I beleive I have found some understanding to the many cultures of sky.

The Isle, is a lush prairie who intersects with the forest, here we see, maybe, three groups of cultures.

The first are the Cavern People, Stargazer, Voyager are seen living in a dimly lit cavern. The Cavern people in game created the Cave of Prophecies, to live in it. These people prob invented the murals.

Second is the boat people, who have tents and boats and huts lined up. They might've migrated massively trough forest and end up colonizing the Valley and Wasteland. (however due to Candlemaker having a boat and living in a a cavern maybe boat people are a derivative of more liberal form of Cavern People.

Third are the 'Travellers' which would be travellers flying around in Krill related light creatures,who would travel troughout the realms as nomads.

The Forest people, who are Grannie's ancestors would most probably be the yurt dwellers who lived in the 'great forest', living far from the underbush due to the crabs.

I wanna share this cuz it freaked me.
I visited the last quest memory, the shattering of eden elder, and when I got closer to the crown looking thing in top, I heard those unknown terrifying screams you hear when you're about to enter the point of no return.
all this time I thought it was the children, us.

The Migration of the Boat People could also mean the discovery of Darkstone, hence the migration, and the rejecting voyager memory.

Hey I heard those sounds too, but I thought I heard them everywhere in the memory. It’s kinda hard to hear sometimes with the background music playing. But, strangely enough, the music stops playing when you stand still. So I could hear it better

What is the thing above the diamond? It looks similar to the prince/King, but upside down and transparent

Which seems pretty symbolic to me, since it’s above the hugging children, and also the broken meditation point where Resh would have been

Wait but then how’d it get up there the one in vault isn’t broken, it just looks similar

I think it actually did not shatter the diamond, since it’s already exploding and the object hasn’t touched the diamond yet. Rather I think the diamond exploded on its own.

Here’s a run down on my current theory as to what happened:

• Light flows through the world and the stars in an endless cycle, both as rivers of birds, creatures, or pure light; the Eden beam is where it flows back up towards the stars
• Diamond on top of beam, fills up with light in question… too much
• Light always instinctually wants to merge and flow back to itself. There is no way for it to go around the diamond, as it’s the only point in the cycle where it goes back up to the sky
• it breaks the diamond apart from the inside out after it overflows, escaping
• the void caused by the light displacement is too much & sucks in elder and creature light, creating the shattering memories. Hence, ‘void of shattering’
