i forgot about the filter Whoops anyways good for him
as a younger sibling i too love being a nuisance
sooooo…. why’s eden erupting?
does anyone else think this season is severely lacking in story
It's severely lacking in in game story
It has many word but can't word in game
I think it's not laid out as clearly as older seasons, but it feels more like it's very solidly there. You just have to interpret metaphor and installation art memories to get it XD
I kinda figure the last memory or two will cap off the story the memories have been telling. So far it's just been the buildup, but the shattering has to happen too right?
I feel like the last memory will try to kill us
||Next season quest seems give us something||
I think TGC put more focus on the Aurora season compared to Shattering. It makes sense since Aurora's season is a crossover and I'm certain that crossovers can get expensive so TGC has to make the best of it
why a switch player cant send boats?
#questions-and-help will be able to give you an answer
What's the lore behind the flowers?
Why are the krills and whales in ancient memories so massive. I can't stress how massive the whales are.
A common theory as to why Krills are so big is due to too much consumption of light, not so sure about whales (seriously giving me megalophobia)
About this, a job for an ancestor spirit regarding masks has been orbiting my head for a bit now, like a mask maker of some sort
hello I hear mask maker
I want to make one too
I had a few thoughts about Mask Making ancestors:
-Probably the one of the most paid products in the kingdom (I do not know the word for a product that is being sold to alot of people, and said people, liked it)
-Each of them are tasked to shape a mask creatively (and is free to paint on whatever colors they want), as long as the masks are functional
-A business (probably) appreciated by Elders (knowing that they also wear masks)
-Some might even be wearing masks (while some are maskless)
-There is a chance that their business is in Valley or Vault
Who is the eden elder, we know they exists but we never see them.
I mean, TGC literally said the story won’t be shown to us directly like Little Prince or Dreams, but rather through worldbuilding, like Prophecy.
A character we don't see but whose existence is hinted in the game. Here, have this picture compiled by Kamilico, and something Alasdair said !
#lore-discussion-spoilers message
@upbeat flint
They’re probably similar to candles, with both of them being decorative pieces of wax.
probably not newborn butterflies for sure
maybe little homes for them?
Depends on what you mean by story. If you mean that there's none in the present, then sure, we're essentially cleaning up darkness that erupted from the mountain.
Lore-wise though, it gives a lot of crumbs; the poem introducing the season for example mentions a river of light ancestors may have bled dry to power their technology.
The jellyfish and crab poems mention a bright light that drew in, blinded and caused the loss of creatures, which you could link to the Sneezing Geographer (
) book illustrations that appear when reliving the spirit memories (pictured below).
The manta poem depicts them being encased in stone, while the krill ones seems to be about them mirroring light creatures but absorbing light to sate a hunger that will never end and looking for darkness.
A lot of the lore this season lies in what's shown outside the game, which I agree can be frustrating without access to TGC's platforms.
can i steal this as a character concept
lore chat making an entire shop of mask makers
We'll make one big corporation of mask makers
Hi
mask maker co: not sponsored by hollow knight mask maker bug
im sorry, with everyone saying “mask maker” i always thought of it
yeah same
Mask Maker in Hollow Knight is a skurnkly little dude, maybe they can help with the business
funny considering how hollow knight loreheads don’t know honk about mask maker
all he gives is cryptic dialogue
to define focus and exist
saw this when i went to prairie and turned around to go back to isle. its in the opposite direction than the eden mountain. (i already made the ATLA meme with it btw)
welp, back to not being involved in this channel except for the occasional comment, idea, or/and image.
Huh, cool
There is a hugeeee one in valley too ... It's beautiful
Can you gain candlelight while burning marshmallows?
If yes, candlelight = Sky Kids' food?
I don't think so, no, but the news referred to them as roasted light so maybe ?
i definitely think light could be considered food for skykids in as much as consuming it nourishes and fuels their bodies
tbf skykids without light die so
No, they turn to stone and get reborn
yea, that's dying
close as they can get to the human definition I reckon
imo if something happens to your body that renders it utterly unusable and inanimate to the point that the only way you can keep living is by leaving said body and having to be put into a new one, that sounds a lot like death
hey just curious, if krill had a weakness what would it be? i wanna make a character who tries to make weapons against krill
disabling its searchlight, maybe?
ooo yeah. is the light like an eye?
i think they have eyes separate from the light based on close-up screenshots, but i'd imagine if they need a giant spotlight to find their prey their vision probably isn't very good
makes sense. what do you think the spotlight could be made of?
some sort of corrupted bioluminescence? i'm not much of a biologist, though
huh. wait would light be able to hurt them at all?
i could also see it as like- the eyes see, but the searchlight could pick up on something like heat signatures or movement-
i doubt light in its natural state would hurt them - there's a tidbit about them being "hungry for light"
right, right
and also if they bonk us were extinguished
i’m very tempted to make an anti krill gun
we know they're pretty physically durable, considering they patrol Eden through the constant storm of boulders, but maybe a sonic or ultrasonic weapon would do something?
perhaps hitting it with a very large, very heavy thing with enough force might break it.
considering the krill horn implies that the edgier bits of krill could break off, perhaps when they charge into a wall or the ground, maybe krill can be smashed or broken as a whole.
if you snapped a krill in half, would the two halves be alive? would the end without the head still be able to move with or without the control of the krill's central command, like a worm? could a krill regrown its broken parts?
Earthworm krills
if we're going with the manta corpse headcanon, i'd say they probably can't regenerate but can keep going if one part gets lost
I think it was cat Salem who suggested that the large spears in battlefield could be for fighting krill
i was just thinking about that too - they'd make sense as a piercing weapon that could get between the segments of whatever plating they have
Ooooh, for pinning Krills down while they’re hacked apart to the point where there’s just not enough body mass for them to keep going. Like you throw them and hit the Krills, knocking them to the ground.
imagine pjinning it down then wedging one of those huge spears between its neck and popping the head off
Like trying to pop a tight lego head off
Omg all the Wasteland warriors were equipped with those orange Lego disconnector things.
Sorry if I'm interrupting, but do you think ||Eden|| is freezing or is actually a rather hot place? Gen chat was talking about temperature in realms, so I was wondering if there's anything related to it in the lore...
given light is usually associated with warmth in both temperature and closeness, I consider darkness to be cold as the absence of light and isolation. so Eden, swamped in darkness, would be freezing, perhaps like the artic
also considering how high the elevation is, it'd probably be pretty chilly
i assume if not for the rock storm and constant wind there'd be snow over a lot of the terrain
I like to think Golden Wasteland is cold as well but not as cold as Eden
Hmm, that's an interesting way to think about it, thank you
Also if ||Eden|| is freezing, then dark water isn't actually water, right? Someone suggested it was some sort of liquid darkness
sometimes dark water is referred to as polluted water, though I like the liquid darkness idea. liquids can be freezing and water can exist in freezing temperatures when mixed with something that can inhibit the water molecules' ability to form as a solid.
btw you don't have to spoiler tag Eden and such here, hence lore-discussion-spoilers
Interesting, I thought it was pretty warm in GW considering the fact you can't even see sky because of clouds.... yk something like Earth global warming because of greenhouse gases...
Oh okay, I actually never chat here so I didn't know...
i was about to say something about it being water polluted with something that lowers its freezing point but Alasdair beat me to it
while we're on the topic, what do we think about it as a drinkable substance? in Slouching Soldier's cutscene it's specified that what he's drinking is dark water and he drinks it to forget - the obvious implication is alcohol, but, yknow. i was talking with a friend about it and we came to the thought that, similar to how alcohol is poisonous in sufficient quantities but is consumable when diluted, maybe when diluted or processed correctly dark water could be an intoxicant?
you have a point about the overcast sky, however global warming is caused by more energy being trapped within the atmosphere than what escapes due to the increasing amount of greenhouse gases that absorb but does not allow energy to escape.
the alternative, global cooling, occurs when more energy escapes than what is being absorbed. this happens particularly after volcanic eruptions send a lot of obstructive material into the atmosphere, blocking and reflecting sunlight into space for a prolonged period of time. the Eden Storm produces a lot of clouds and carries a lot of darkness, which consumes light. so presumably a lot of sunlight energy is not only being blocked by the clouds but is unable to reach the surface of the world in the first place. hence cold.
Wait you're right!
ooh meteorology (?)
presuming ancestors are beings of light, even if their living bodies may be more material than light (which is impossible to know since they're all dead and spirits but whatever), they still had light inside them to some capacity that coded their very existence. light for the ancestors may act in the way the nervous system of irl humans does. so perhaps drinking dark water causes the same intoxicating effects of alcoholism because, like alcohol binding to nerve endings, darkness in the polluted water attacks and binds to the light inside of ancestors, causing memory issues and possibly addiction.
Maybe in GW, Eden and other places the dark water is in its pure form, thus making skykids lose their light pretty fast, but when diluted becomes drinkable?
technically any liquid is drinkable at least once.
like lava!
The alcohol reference makes me think of ethanol and methanol differences in affecting humans...
Anyways, I think I won't say any more nonsense here. It was very lovely to talk to you!
Since TLP is based off the book The Little Prince, the character Slouching Soldier is based off of is referred to as an alcoholic (The Drunkard), so dark water ≈ alcohol
I meant to say that drinking ethanol is okay to some extent, yes it's poisonous but not as deadly as methanol. So maybe it's just different kind of dark water-
it sounds stupid ngl.

I also see dark water as a possible in-universe euphemism/colloquial name for it because of this. not relevant but might be interesting
I have a theory. If you watch the cutscene from the
emote, you might see the spell they failed still there? It might be my lag. But I noticed it was taking my Skid’s energy. Were they using dark magic?
shrug was trying to purify the water with blue light, but it wasn’t powerful enough - we know that that’s a power of blue light because the pond around the QG is successfully purified in the ark upon usage of it
That’s true.
oh yea that's a glitch
Who drank up the water
I'm working on a story of mine and wanted to ask something about lore, does the game say something about where "Winged Lights" came from?(not the glowy children but the "Star" itself)
nope, game is zilch on what winged light are or where they come from
I abscribe to the desire path theory
Winged light is like extra power to skykids. They only need their flame to function, but winged light is an addendum that grants them a new ability. Perhaps it’s presence wasn’t intended as a power-up, but once skykids became plentiful, they were made to be or came to be able to utilize winged light as a power-up, whether to fly at all or the strengthen our cape.
Since winged light are imprints they are merely the impression of skykids, not skykids converted into something else but something their presence has left behind. One cannot become winged light, but one or more skykids do make them by just existing in the world in addition to some other factor.
One theory suggests they appear where many skykids have been and coalesce into winged light, like creating a well-treaded path in the woods by many footsteps — hence why they appear in the same spots. In-game they may be in the same spot for gameplay accessibility but in-universe they could land anywhere.
We do know that winged light did not exist before skykids existed because they are never depicted in murals or spirit memories.
——
I’ve been favoring the idea that winged light are the imprints of skykids, specifically a mark where many of them have been, hence why they appear in the same places (tho that may be gameplay mechanic, but I like to think in-universe they also appear elsewhere less often) like a well-treaded path in the woods made by many footprints walking the same way.
omg desire path theory no way
how about make this together since I need ideas 🤝
hmm, maybe they're glitched out suns. (i remember an orb thing there that looked like it was supposed to be a sun)
you cannot
could each make one and have them work together, one who makes the masks and one who paints them or something?
this might falter slightly when considering the winged lights at the end of the trials in prophecy. This could be mediated a bit with the idea of the prince (not the petit prince, the concept art one) being a skykid and having completed the trials.
or of other skykids completing the Trials
hear me out. apologetic lumberjack cameo
i'm listening
masks are made out of wood sometimes. that's it that's the thought process
I have three options:
Option A:
One ancestor is responsible for making and painting masks, the other one, probably finding the materials required to keep the mask "functional"
Option B:
One ancestor makes the mask, another ancestor paints them, and another finds the materials required to keep the mask "functional"
Option C:
One ancestor makes the mask while the other ancestor paints the mask and finds the materials required to keep the mask "functional"
i was thinking either B or C
my brain is fried, what do you mean by keeping the mask "functional"? like repairing it or?
In my opinion, the way these ancestor spirits keep the mask functional is with diamonds on it (I don't really count Assembly, or any masks without a diamond masks as legit masks)
yah but, something feels off with that reasoning for the trials. Maybe its just me tho
what functions are you thinking about?
they may mean the whole eye situation thing. The white eyes skykids have with masks but not without
i personally dont agree with the concept, but i can sort of understand.
also, valley twins dont have diamonds on their masks, are you gonna say that isnt canon lol?
anyway,
if you think about it, megabird is like a name a little kid in a TV show comes up with to name a baby chicken.
I just thought of it like this: The mind of an ancestor spirit/ skykid is kind of like an uncontrollable fire, the diamond on the mask help that uncontrollable fire to become controllable. Those who have masks without the diamonds of the masks either; have a mind of their own (which can control the "uncontrollable fire") or do not have the money to buy a mask (which is sad
)
Ok no, I need my braincells for this
ohhh interesting, i haven't heard that hc before
are you bragging about being multicellular while I'm not?! rude.
/j
Whoo boy, ill have to look for spirits who don't have a mask and spirits with masks but no diamonds too try and justify the amount of masks without a diamond
maskless spirits, like the base game call spirits and raised candle spirit for example, have diamonds for eyes. its very possible that the forhead diamond on many masks is more of a common thing added to masks, perhaps in a religous, cultural, or traditional way sort of similar to the "Bindi" (the red dot on some people's forheads)
all of the basegame masks have them
of the seasonal and event masks, lots have diamonds painted on in the same spot, but only like 3-5 of them look like they glow in the same way the basegame ones do
Is there like a book or something explaining all in game lore
No sadly 😔
look at the diamond on the mask you get from the waving bellmaker. also, i bring up the valley elders again.
TGC should make one
It doesn’t show it in the emote but the jackal mask has one that glows I believe!
theres supposedly a "lore bible" for people in tgc so that seasons and events follow the loose-ish canon. but they wont just give us the lore. thats part of the whole thing, the mystery
waving bellmaker's doesnt glow. and again, i bring up the valley elders
Are you bringing them up because they only have one chest diamond with no thingies around it or is there something else I’m missing
Edit: RIP managed to somehow miss the original message before sorry
yeah that was one of the 3-5 i included
ah, it would seem you're right. i guess i didn't look close enough when i was checking
and i wasn't talking about the Elder masks, since presumably the Ancestors wouldn't have been able to get them anyway and that's who would be buying the mask our hypothetical maskmakers would be making
even the icon doesnt have the diamond like most of the other base game masks
someone said they think the diamonds in the masks may help spirits and that the masks without diamonds may just not be canon or something.
i, personally disagree with this theory but kind of understand where they are coming from
All the elder masks (not the shield ones, the basegame ones that look like them) have diamonds on them to some capacity I THINK but the location changes. It might be a mirror of the < <> > which might be an elder symbol idk. I’d have to check all the masks I can to feel confident in this convo which I can’t do rn, so take it with a grain of salt,
Might help figuring out why the symbol is there
i'm pretty sure what Myst was saying wasn't that diamondless masks aren't canon
Those who have masks without the diamonds of the masks either; have a mind of their own (which can control the "uncontrollable fire") or do not have the money to buy a mask (which is sad
)
(sorry if i forgot to turn ping off my brain is dead)
oh, right. they said they didnt consider them actual masks, right?
No it’s like… they can make the masks without the aid of the diamond, maybe? So it’s like kinda mask masks and then ultra masky masks
they said specifically they don't consider Assembly masks legit, presumably bc they're made by the kids
ah, i missed the edit. but still, they seem to be saying those masks wouldn't have the same function, not that they aren't real
I like to imagine ancestor masks are stone/wood/metal etc and our skykids are the only ones who project them with light, personally. & that the diamond is a tool to focus light magic (like the levitation you see vault spirits messing with, or just lighting small darkstone bits with your mind, or whatever else you like to use it for)
personally i think its more of a similar situation to the Bindi you see on some people's forheads (the red dot in between the eyebrows you often see in movies set in india) where its more of a religious, cultural, or/and traditional thing
My headcanon does fall short for ones like the jackal mask where the glowing diamond part is visibly Not made of darkstone or has it inside it but is just kinda there, but shhhhh, it’s a headcanon don’t think too hard abt it
most of the ones other than the jackal mask are like. essentially the base mask with some edits? (cheek blush, holding a rose, etc) so i wasn't even sure whether to count them as separate masks or not
like is that a Unique Product or the same thing but special edition
3 days of mask discussion
high chance that its basically just a symbol. A symbol with a deeper meaning, but no like genuine function.
of course, this is merely my opinion
perhaps the spirits used to ram their heads into each other to assert dominance like rams or deers, and the diamonds are meant to be a small weapon thing to give them an advantage. the weird mask add-ons that many base game spirits give could also act as a sort of helmet for protection.
tldr, diamonds help 'em in headbuttin
if they serve a purpose, it seems like it's gotta be an optional one, since we can switch masks with no negative side effects. maybe it helps channel or focus light magic per Catlem's headcanon, but the wearer can still use the magic without it, just not as effectively
or maybe it's some sort of status thing, and that's why so many of the other masks are painted with diamonds, sort of like wearing gold-plated jewelry vs pure gold
nah fam, headbuttin
i see no issues with the headbuttin idea
i mean, it tells us why the base game call spirits dont talk like other spirits.
How do we know if a diamond is not in their mask on a mask
I am so close to making a that’s what the point of the mask is joke
huh? you mean the elders or the waving bellmaker?
the Waving bellmaker
we see the diamond spot thing. it doesnt glow. their mask is the base game mask with a mouth covering thing
and i dont quite understand what your saying, are you saying they are wearing two masks with the outer one not having an actual diamond?
Kind of meant it as a joke But what I was commenting is that what if the diamond is under the eyeholes which is hidden in the mask
Are we talking purely base game masks? And not any of the seasonal masks? Cause a lot of seasonal masks have stopped having the diamond really there.
look at a maskless spirit, they have diamond eyes
i think they mean under the cloth bit, below the eyeholes
I mean, seasons really expanded the diversity in masks styles
Maybe I should change the part where the diamonds control this fire, the only problem is, what "magic" do these masks have to "control" this fire
(Just a reminder that this is a headcanon)
I always though the diamond spot thing in the mask are decorative/not necessary
Some thought it was a third eye
Wait what
Man, stock photo jumpscare
Kind of, just without... the mouth
would you mind spoilering those images they're freaking me out a bit
edit: thank you
likely just a cultural, traditional, religious, or/and spiritual symbol imo
oh, so like this?
i... am too tired to continue this conversation i think
i'm struggling to make myself understood and it's starting to frustrate me so i'm going to take a break and make some dinner
sorry
nothing to be sorry for, just having a low-words day apparently
language is a means of transferring ideas, and it is utterly filled with flaws
Id like the paint a picture in your heads.
A sky kid just have a normal mask, and puts stuff on it. So with this mask, the sky kid just puts make up on.
(Not really related this just reminded me of this)
brain is reading the line between the eyes as a lil smile and it's amusing
but yeah i agree
NO now i cant stop seeing that lmao
I feel like lore chat is gradually going to be filled with heart reacts of different colors depending on who is online
suffer /lh
I always thought it was like Baymax's eyes/face
this is a good thing to me
👁️ 👄 👁️
I think all masks with diamonds are just the base kid mask but added onto (lets forget chibi for this, chibi is weird anyways)
I think the veil not glowing is just cause, it didn't feel like glowing
me too fam, glowing is more energy than i have rn
I only glow when I have to visit the mortal realm
i agree, i think, though there are the abyss ones, but all im saying is the diamonds probably dont have a function other than being a cultural/religious/spiritual symbol
i have a thing to say about masks working differently for skids than ancestors but i don't have the brainpower to get it across rn
If i wanted to be creative, id say the diamond is the way the sky kid knows where to go through honking. Like the diamond is a guide or a source of light to get the skid through the realms without getting lost.
Maybe linked to mother??? Or like, just generally the big light
fair enough (i accidentally replied to the wrong comment first lol)
i mean, we can still see the
when wearing no mask
Most base game masks have the diamond though.
anyway, back to nothingness
could be a situation where the mask enhances the ability but isn't the source of it
Mhm,
🤝 I spent all my braincells in a quiz just a few minutes ago
Or yknow, the worst thing to say, it probs doesnt disappear when not wearing a diamond because of like game reasons
did I get ghost pinged in here
something something cosmetics made of light something something mask not a physical object something
the ancestors have physical masks but skykids masks are made of light?
astral is my translator now
i think skykids have the diamond on the head as a third eye esque thing. the reason most ancestor masks dont have them is because it's like, a symbol of the light, a way to show the skykids' connection to it. idk
if that makes sense. some ancestor masks have something similar, but it's like them representing it.
But there’s not enough colors to go around I fear
👁️ 👄 👁️ 👍
only sometimes
my nickname is too long for me to add my other name I must fix this never mind no it's not discord is just mean 2 me
we need giant darkness dragons that you can purify and they become a part of the map and are nice and aaahhhhh

#sky-fanart-sketches-and-art-chat I'm fangirlling over the dark dragon
Or a tiny pet krill
playfight herbalist memory is making me think things, wondering how long this must have been here for mushrooms to grow on it and the enchantment spirits to pick them,
between it and scarecrows farm I wonder how long they lasted
Oh hey what a coincidence I literally just relived the memory now and I was wondering about that
How long did the enchantment last after their shipwreck? Did it all even happen after the cataclysm or before? The Sky timeline is funky
Let me try and think
In my head it makes sense for it to happen quite a bit before the disaster, but just enough for everyone to still be alive and have mushrooms grow
OOOO this is a hard one. I vote it happened a bit after isle desertified but I couldn’t tell you when that happened either, unfortunately.
I would guess post disaster just because of the lightning bolt and krill, but either of those can be argued to be pre disaster as well, so it’s hard to tell
depends on how bad things were before the Eden calamity
Yeah, it’s completely believable that wasteland was just Like That even pre explosion
do you think
is disappointed that they got assigned to the boring desert area

Never call wasteland boring within my sight again /hj
Do you mean
or
NEVER CALL ISLE OR WASTRLAND BORING DESERT AREAS WITHIN MY SIGHT AGAIN they are some of my favorite realms I will die on this hill
Isle is good for exercising (or taking a walk) for your Skykid ig
I love isle and wasteland lore a lot that’s why they’re my favorites personally
just cause there's not a lot going on visually in isle doesn't mean it's boring- and Tsadi wishes they got the boring desert area, give them a break lmao
Isle is really nice for pictures, quiet spots to play music in,nostalgia and murals tbh
GIVE THEM A BREAK WOEOWOWODND
Tsadi deserves breakfast in bed and a spa day
Murals are a good 30% of the reason I like isle. 40% is because of prophecy and the other 30% is because my lore headcanons abt it are a gut punch
I like isle there's birds
ah, a n g s t
Extremely on brand
I like the trials, this game needs more parkour 🙂
I'm sure isle was a prettier place once
it's still pretty, just in a barren way
Wind paths are really nice to explore tho, especially the main island on foot. there's even more birds too
It was and that’s why it kills me 💔 you can see the grassland it used to be in the switch trailer it kills me every single time
Hey @sharp lichen
wind paths my love
My random idea:
Sky kids are hot. If they lie on the grass for long enough, it can leave a burn mark in the shape of them. Lots of burn mark like that can be found all around Prairie and wind paths. If Forest is not constantly rain they would have burned the entire forest already
And since the elders are stars too, they hot plus big and heavy. When Valley elder skate the ice goes crack crack
I think skykids are hot cos of all the light inside them but not that hot
That fist sentence caught me off guard 💀 (flashbacked from that theme of Sky Arts)
WHAT @flint bolt
i wub chu
Do you really think the Shards have the power to overwhelm the Skykids? It’s something I can’t really understand
if sky has a moon (starlight desert) and a sun.... does that mean it's earth...?
not necessarily, just because it revolves around a star and has a moon that revolves around it doesn't mean it revolves around our star
and during the end credits we see a zoom-out on the planet, star system, and eventually galaxy - and that ain't the milky way
it could be considered an Earth-like planet in its star's habitable zone, though

i never understood why you wanted the shards to be too powerful to overwhelm us
This does make me wonder just how many ancestor civilizations are/were out there in the stars...
Just how many kings have been elevated to Godhood & forced to lord over the masses?
Just how many ancestors have made worship to the megabird & how many have renounced said worship in favor of some other faith?
Just how many elders have been made & just how many unique, beautiful realms have they ruled over that well never get to see?
Just how many ancestors have mastered the secrets of darkstone technology, & just how many light creatures have suffered because of it?
Just how many have suffered & died in their own eden calamities, & just how many more skykids have been forged & died to ascend their souls?
Is the collapse of ancestor civilization inevitable? Are there ancestor civilizations who never learned the secrets of Darkstone technology and never progressed beyond the pastoral life of prairie? Are there better, more safe methods of technological progression in the sky world that we'll never get to see? Is it all just one big cycle playing out countless times across the infinity, some kind of sick cosmic joke on the megabird's part whose punchline is us? Is the megabird even aware that such tragedy is happening? Are they even an aware being at all?-
This is why I hate space being added into a story, it makes my brain go funky & the story more complicated
art reflects life - it gives us a smaller, narrower field, a microcosm, where we can ask the same questions scientists are asking about our own existence. it's existentially terrifying, and it's exhilarating, and when it's too much we can dial back into the small details - but the fact that we can get to this point, where we're asking these questions, is just testament to the worldbuilding of the game imo
(i'm a cosmology and astrophysics nerd so i live for this stuff)
also
Just how many elders have been made & just how many unique, beautiful realms have they ruled over that well never get to see?
what i love about this line of thinking is- well, actually, a bunch of things. for one: unknowable numbers of worlds out there, and we were lucky enough to get this one, to be part of this story. makes you feel pretty special, huh?
but also... i love how many possibilities it opens up. what if there have been other Ancestor civilizations out there? what if the one we know wasn't Megabird's first try? what if it wasn't their last? it gives us infinite playgrounds of worlds adjacent to this one, where whatever tweaks we wish were canon could have happened. that au where things went slightly different? there's no reason that couldn't be another planet out there
idk i just have a lot of feelings about the infinite potential of space
I think the elders are species of big stars (with skykids being small stars). We only know the elders who fell down, maybe there are other elders on Megan, just vibing, napping and don't know about dark stone and stuff happening under. They may be busy making a ping pong club with light orbs and stuff...
Elders are technically aliens 👽 Spawnings of a huge magic alien bird
There are bridge and bench on Orbit, looks like someone built them
The sparkling Megan hairs seems hard solid but still cut-able, it can be make into different shapes (like stuff on Orbit, or Christmas tree). Elders may use it as material to build
I even have an OC who is an elder living on Megan and has a hobby of building parkour park for winged lights
why does vault's elder have a scar over their eye?
Yo the whale in the memory mustve eaten a sky child cuz the WL was in its mouth 💀
good morning lorechat
may i share an oc idea
alright here we go gimme a minute

this drawing is basically what gave me the idea. a skid who dwells in forest, but is basically unaffected by rain. you could call them corrupted, but its only rain that doesnt hurt them. stuff like crabs and krill still do.
bro knows something is wrong with them but he doesnt have a clue
Waterproof Skykid moment /j
what if they cant swim
Hydrophobia
Dumping a skykid in oil so they are immune to water
You skipped a few steps
You're supposed to dip them in eggs, dip them in flour, THEN dip em in oil
That really immunizes them up
They're gonna look like chicken nuggets
Deep fried skids
honk now i wanna draw that skid in the link…the hair is super specific though

Tbh, the only "fried" thing about Skykids, are their brains in this chat
Talk for yourself, I'm extremely normal and healthy
I really like the idea of every being, not just elders, being stars ! Performance's second quest had a story with various beings born from a falling star too.
Hold on, I need to go relive the 2nd quest (if it is still relievable)
The story you tell depends on what you pick so you can replay it a bunch ! And yes, you just gotta meditate near the memory cubes.
Love how TGC lets us make our own angst stories (if we choose that path) about a star child and telling it to a crowd of ancestors
Forgot which dev said that here, but it's a wink to lore theorists apparently !
Little headcanon that I want Lorechat's thoughts on:
When a two Skykids become good friends, and one decides to depart with the other Skykid. The Skykid (who was left), using their light manipulation abilities, makes a cosmetic that reminds them of their departed friend, and holds on to it.
What if light keepsakes are commonly traded among skykids, so that one could be made with the light of their friend
So, its kind of like Skykids giving something to their friends? (Like paying for expanding the friendship tree, buying IAPs, etc.)
i have multiple instances with my ocs where they give each other gifts (the one i can think of off the top of my head is when amethyst, quinn’s mentor, gives quinn his beanie)
.>
<.<
Yoink
Wait hold on, did I delete my message? Ah, let me repost it (I edited something on it that didn't made it through), apologies
Basically, how I came up with this hc:
I have two Skykids, one gets corrupted, and the other sacrifices their light in order to save their friend, erasing their memories in the process. The friend who was saved wore or made cosmetics that reminded them of the friend who made a sacrifice for them
Keepsakes like flowers, tiny figurines, the kind of stuff that is mostly here to hold sentimental value.
Maybe that's what the season necklaces are, keepsakes from when a friend gave you a pass :]
wondering how the Gifts of Light mechanic would work in-universe now
Off topic TvT
Ive been thinking about stuff regarding the alef - resh identity connection
Im looking things at both perspectives but Im stuck at one thing
Do you think, based upon this picture, is resh and alef the same?
If yes, do you think its possible that they became that big because of the darkstone corruption? (Like one mentioned in the concepts)
If not, why do you think alef, and not resh, put the big crystal in eden like the mural in eden implies?
It's not possible in-game but I like to think skykids can make past season cosmetics and gift thrm to their friends; or they can borrow eachother's clothes.
Vets lending umbrellas
Well, in the concept arts, there is one little detail that not many Skykids know (or atleast the new ones to lore), that there is a child in the king's head
I like to think Alef is Resh's core; in the tomcepts you met the former after the latter was defeated. Perhaps Alef rises from the ashes of the king ?
why do you think alef, and not resh, put the big crystal in eden like the mural in eden implies?
maybe the crystal wasn't always a negative thing - it could have once been a power source or a beacon, something to unite all the realms with its light or to show the importance of the capital of Eden. many possibilities there
Perhaps it malfunctioned, drove off the train tracks
But why specifically alef is the one that put it there and not the king? Given that Alef isnt the King?
maybe it was like a sword in the stone situation? do this thing to become king?
Yea I remember this one, spawned the Mecha Alef theory
Hmmm I wonder if wasteland war was between alef and resh instead 🤔
Isnt the trials the sword in the stone moment 🤔
the prophecy could be "the one who can complete all four trials and harness the light will be the one to bring the crystal to Eden and become the one true King" or something along those lines
Also this one.. if alef is indeed resh/king.. how do you think they became that big 🤔 other than being mecha
Then there’s me who doesn’t even believe the Chosen One is the King
valid
Theory abt the King, the king is actually a light child able to move in and out from dark stone, and uses a big statue like a mech
had a thought a few days ago that’s been sitting in the back of my head but like
yknow how in that pic w info on daleth it says jiminy cricket in the archetypes section
one of my friends last year made like a little connection w sky n when you wish upon a star since sky has like
yknow the whole star thing going on
n with that new memory the winged light is actually like
in the whales mouth
n there’s also that bit in pinocchio involving the whale
it’s prob all just a coincidence tbh n i might b reaching here but i just think it’s neat
Resh really pulled an Ozymandias
we've looked upon their works, and we're despairing
now that i'm thinking about it, a lot of the poem Ozymandias could be applied to Resh and the calamity
especially the visuals of Wasteland
Yeah, especially with everything being lost in the sand
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare
the lone and level sands stretch far away.
omega count every grain of sand in this desert
Def could be a reference imo, I didn't see it !
hey hey im back
what do we think “outer forest” looks/feels like? if i recall there’s harder rain and less lanterns but i just wanted to make sure
It's whatever you feel like since it's not canon but yeah, you remember what I said !
ooh i see
thank ya! tbh i really like the idea of outskirts of all the realms
I imagine outer Forest as wrought in more foliage, denser amount of trees, less light creatures, harsher rain. sometimes during storms the clouds shift over the land and can push skykids about. it's a lot more hilly, muddy, sometimes there are mud slides and flash floods. but maybe you can find ruins of villages there
Can we add the relaxing sound of thunderstorms deeper in
petrichor...
It looks even denser with entire forests of dark plants
yea, since there are less skykids who tread out there, dark plants grow wild and huge
I imagine it makes them even more difficult to burn away, even with lots of skykids.
the dark plants that grow on the main paths may regrow, but due to skykids constanlty frequenting the area and melting any that pop up, those plants remain small. but in outer Forest, where there are less skykids to manage the growth of dark plants, they flourish
Hey Lorechat, how many legs does a Krill Have? (Sorry for interrumpting)
a lot
I like to think that along with outer realms, there's also realm reaches; for example, the forest reaches bordering valey would start having steeper inclines and terrain reaching the clouds. Perhaps managing to find a way or brute force your way through and above the cloud barrier, you would move on to the valley reaches as the trees get smaller and smaller with altitude.
could even start to wander in outer urban neighborhoods
I like to think the prairie reaches bordering forest would be wetlands with crabs, frogs and exotic-looking birds that start to get a drizzle at sea level, but floating islands look like the start of a rainforest.
Wasteland reaches could have archipelagos with tiny islands that don't grab anyone's attention, or lost fortresses that are too scary for most skykids to explore.
You could argue the starlight desert is one of vault's ex-reaches since the place used to be almost completely barren until TLP happened.
if a skid were to take the route the Little Prince did to Eden, walking from the Starlight Desert, the sky will shift from an ever richer purple before turning red
i was asking cause i was tryna do some art relating to oc lore
i really like all the ideas! hopefully i will implement them in a diff piece
No isle reaches because dinky island realm
given Isle used to be a large grassland based on the Switch release trailer, it looks that Isle had flooded at some point. thinking if one were to swim under the water there, they'd find more ruins.
OUTER ISLE REAL
This whale looks so weird
I think its upside down and the light is just bugged but it looks like transforming into a krill
krill are corrupted whales confirmed /j
Are they?
we have confirmation that krill are corrupted light creatures, we just don't know what kind
salemm
i like 2 think that krill come from creatures like that funky fella from the switch trailer
iirc the boards for it showed it w horns similar to krill + the spotlight thing so
I would guess they’re whales because they got fhe same size
Also whales got that one hole in their mask, one hole for one eye, like the krills

that's definitely a possibility! could also be the creature from the switch trailer, as krii mentioned, or something we haven't seen at all, or a conglomeration of the drained corpses of mantas per Catlem's headcanon
someone (pretty sure it was either vela or cat salem) that had the idea that they were drained mantas…or something along those lines
to avoid accidental spam when we get too excited or heated
the goofy silly mcscrimbly
the thought of a wetlands type place in sky has the cogs in my head whirring cause those places r insanely diverse when it comes 2 stuff like flora n fauna Especially birds like the possibilities for funky stuff there is insane
spoonbill in sky when
Hey Lorechat, if you remember I’m working on reconstructing the Krill! Here’s my progress: the krill has 15 spikes connecting to its main body, most of them connect to a leg,
I’m thinking they’re wing appendages since they’re highly mobile and they flutter them around while they fly and contract them when they dive, to steal our light, like birds of prey.
I’m thinking the main spines are bones covered with little fat, aka light since
a) they are covered in pollution and are unhable to consume light other than by stealing it
b) a dark plant shroom is controlling it like the ophiocordyceps a mushroom that takes over the hosts corpse and uses it to propagate their spores
Any thoughts?
*( also here’s my sketch for the reconstructed krill!) still a work in progress
Is it bad that this reminds me of the guardian from Journey?
love the dark plant - mushroom thing!
It’s based on the ‘complex light and dark' ecology Ash made
YOU GET IT
also SPOONBILL excellent taste in birds
Imagine seeing whole flocks of light flamingoes just hanging out
I love this so far! Excited to see where it goes :} I believe the ‘legs’ are wing bones too!
Thx, I'm also deciding if their horns portrude their head or are inside their head
Here: horns as skull
Horn as horns
Any preference?
for horns as part of the skull
for horns as outside of the head (as in head covered by light as a manta or a has a exo-skull like the whale?)
||krill horn cosmetic||
Ooh, I see, Still the horn might be a post corruption cosmetic, based on the modern Krill (still thanks for the note)
Anyways, I have a theory that, according to the Whale poem, the King was shattered every part of him is a windged light
"Empty light scattering the fragments
Of a spirit sundered in the break,"
Either a) the King soul's is shattered b) the 'King' was a dark entity, malevolent to light creatures who consumed winged light to get power c) the king is an amalgamation of winged lights
Does that mean we embody the king once we collect all the wl? And it's shattered again in eden?
Depending on which theory is true, in case of
a) no, it's like carrying a corpse/body part or getting a transplant
b) we work the same tough we are essentially rescuing the wl
c) yes we embody the king,
as what happens after Eden, I'm unsure
There was a theory that all skykids are an aspect of the king as well
How?
It's older than my stay here but from what I got, it was because the one we meet in limbo after dying in eden looks kinda like us but more akin to a winged light; some people also found the idea of the king redeeming themselves for whatever they did through skykids pretty cool.
I personally prefer your winged light theory better because it doesn't necessitate the king to be morally bad or facing judgment from some kind of deity !
Can't be condemmed by a deity if you are an eldritch monster made of darkness, or toddlers in a raincoat
I like to think the king isn't more evil than your average elder, though i reckon their absence can be kinda suspicious. My vision likens them to the ice king from Adventure Time, which is a villain that started out as a character with good intentions that needed to use a power greater than he was to survive with his protegee, while aware he's slowly getting more and more corrupted by it.
The king could be kinda like that, aware the power they're using is slowly corrupting the kingdom, until they are past the point of no return where it now depends on darkstone.
_ _
Salem and Alasdair had a really cool idea where the king's arrival was praised as the kingdom's salvation (hence the murals), and they went on the typical hero's journey. Keep in mind this is a trope TGC stated they wanted to subvert, hence why the king's failure gets even more interesting. It contrasts with the communal journey of skykids that seems to work better since the weight of the world is shared by all.
sorry you just gave me an idea, imagine a spirit themed after them and it mixes their beak shape with a violin instrument
bittern mask for the accordion spirit
Wow!, it's soo beautiful
Imagine if birds could change colour based on the realm's sky, since they are created from light, a green spoonbill in wasteland, a red one in valley, and a purply one in the Starlight Desert
need one of these menaces in wasteland, it would pop out so much and easily draw attention for quests and stuff
God I love this theory
i love you scarlet ibis
oh I want this now
Thank you for remembering our theory, I really appreciate it!
I have this theory that light can be manipulated (attracted and separated) by sound waves, hence our calls that resonate with Jellyfish and butterflies and protect us from crabs
What if musicians can manipulate use their throats to makes sounds, like sky kids, enabling them to shapeshift, culminating on rythmn last cutscene!
So spoon bill violonist = spoon bill creature
I’m too out of it to fully understand this right now but I’m stealing it because sound based magic is always so cool
what are you stealing it for? I mean you can gladly do so, I'm curious however
thinking about how skykids sing along to the music during ascension and in Orbit.
I do think light has some ties to sounds and, consequently, music. I feel the upcoming Season of Aurora will elaborate on the music aspect, but technically sound waves are a form of light (or in the inverse, don't quote me on that), so it would make sense for the two to have some sort of link. light to manipulate sound. sound can invoke light.
Just like in General for my headcanon way of how I see the world, not a specific fic/art piece etc, I really like it :}
Nice! I'm glad you like my idea that much!
Doesn't Aurora pendant look like Performance mask?
idk I haven't looked at beta, shouldn't talk about beta content in this channel anyways.
I'm so exited for next season tough, there's a clear link between Aurora and Performance, not forgetting rythmn
I wonder if this expands to the Prophecy Lights as well
(SORRY THIS IS OUT OF TOPIC) I feel like sky kids were made to fix up the mess that the king made, but not in a "we did an awful thing and we need help from the children of the light" way, but more in a "oof I messed up, we'll just have someone else to clean up the mess I made" type of way.
I'd love to elaborate but I currently don't have the mental capacity to do so
Kinda like the skykids were some of the only ones left (besides the elders), if the spirits were trapped per se
king/resh lore theories are so cool lol
good evening lore gang!
How's the fic?
Krill reconstruction progress! I decided to take the 'horns as skull path as it provided quite the artisitic liberty. I noticed that the appendages (1-2), were close to the face and moved minimaly if ever moved while Krill flew. I decided to consider it part of the head and gave it a cobra hood. (based on the Season of TLP, as the Krill served as a stand in for the 'snake'.
I..sir/ma'am I am in awe
Sir is my father! Call me Sol (him) thx, my talent isn't on par that of Salem and Vela, however, I am glad you enjoy the drawing
kind of thinking what if krills are indeed the corrupted version of whales.. irl whales and krill have a connection
Well maybe the Whales ate Krill and absorbed their light gaining then such enormous sizes
Now, should I give them either 'manta wings' or 'feathers' like rythmn bird
?
I'm still curious what was the purpose for the pipes that go from Golden Wastes all the way up to the Eye of Eden. Given how water in GW looks like gasoline, I guess it was some kind of fuel.
They are tought to be used to refine darkstone
i've been thinking it's more like drainpipes, waste from eden getting dumped into the water in wasteland and polluting it, but that could work too!
On a side note. While doing a candle run today and looking around at the architecture, something came to my mind. Forest temple and the first krill area look insanely similar and even include the same locking mechanism. That gave me an idea that maybe that first krill area was the original placement for the elders statue, but as result of the battle they moved it to the vaults entrance. That could also explain the emptiness inside current gw temple.
Tbh I think that while in forest darkstone production is the main thing, a reason why the shrine is in the refinery
In wasteland refineries are also built but not the main focus
Wasteland elders focus is more on combat, military, and security.. i think that's also why turrets/statues of the king are first found there
Nice theory! It'd make sense since the Wasteland is Elder tought to be protecting something, it'd make more sense Lorewise if his temple was in front of the Realm,
ooooh i really like this- it creates this narrative of the ancestors trying to hold off an enemy and having to fall further and further back, lose more and more of their home, until making their last stand at the gates of the vault
really adds to the vibe of how exhausted Tsadi is in their cutscene, like they have nothing left to fight with but they still have to try to defend this last haven
Makes sense as to the battlefield's fortification, and Wasteland's reaction to being called upon
I asked this in #questions-and-help but anyone can theorize where the Setting of All the realms and the hub in sky like where does it take place? A planet? Dimension? The sun?
Where do all Moths live on what?
in the end credits we see a slow zoom out on the area we're orbiting in - planet, solar system, on to the galaxy
Most probably a round planet, however it might be a 'flat world since the realms each have a set time, (Valley Day, Vault night), it'd be unlikely tough
Or the planet is Tidally-locked
the lack of day/night cycle actually suggests that the planet and its star are tidally locked, yeah
the planet orbits in tandem with the star so it's always day in some parts and never in others (edited to correct misremembered info)
That makes more sense
But I guess it doesn't effect the environment
Also i heard that the laws of physics are accurate to the ones in real life, if the planet was flat than some parts would have less gravity we would just float away without any effort of flapping
So if it is a planet what would it be called?
there's no name given in the game, but the Ancestors probably had a name for it
One more thing regarding Golden Wastes I found interesting. The bones that can be found around make it feel like they might be there in the result of the battle. However, I think that those bones might have been in there long ago before that. Pic related - It seems as if the bones were already present in there by the time battle took place. In fact, it's kinda interesting how graveyard is actually surrounded by hills and walls, almost making it feel like it's supposed to be protected. There is some infrastructure around the graveyard, but the graveyard itself seems to not have any ruined buildings, suggesting they were specifically building around this graveyard.
Combine this with gasoline-like water, pipes that might have been used to transfer fuels, and the fact it might've been inspired by fossil fuel, and I feel like it might make a pretty good theory that those bones were actually a resource.
The gasoline-like water is often referred to as “dark water” or “polluted water.” It probably wasn’t fuel but rather a byproduct of the power diamond manufacturing process. The pipes were likely to dispose of the dark water, reminiscent of irl companies who dump their waste into bodies of water recklessly
That's a really good theory, the Ancestor were using mantas to charge the crystals, maybe they used other creatures to make them!
Cool, Discord crashed and deleted what I was typing, cool cool cool.
You’re right to notice an analogy to fossil fuels given the environmentalist themes of Sky, but rather than dark water being fuel (rather it seems to be a waste product), darkstone seems to be comparison to fossil fuels like coal and oil since it is mined from the ground and refined into a power source.
Actually the presence of dark water in Golden Wasteland and its similar appearance to gasoline, as you noticed, reminds me of oil spills in the ocean. They hurt us, given it’s darkness, and renders the surrounding land sterile
the dark water even has that same iridescence when it catches the light in some areas
Yeah, tbh I also find it unlikely that pipes were used to pump things in. It's placement just doesn't add up, given how they always end up above "sea level", so the only way it would make sense is if that place was flooded, but that would go against the local structures like gates, roads and statues, that would make no sense being placed underwater.
Well there's evidence of rising sea levels in Abyss,
yeah the reef seems very flooded
Was there some clear hint that it was caused by sea rising and not abyss itself collapsing?
perhaps both, in some way?
Unless we have multiple seas in sky, it would be kinda odd to have flooded abyss and not-flooded gw.
I actually share this theory. It may have been a refinery in it if itself, but given the statues lining the entrance and its name “broken temple,” it may have been like Forest Elder’s temple where the building pulled dual purpose of an Elder temple and a darkstone refinery.
Idk whether it was an Elder temple originally and the Elder statue moved when it was renovated into a refinery. Given Sunset’s “temple” is a stadium and the architecture in the first part of Wasteland resembles Valley, perhaps it was originally Sunset’s temple. Although I do like the idea that it was originally Dusk’s temple. Given both of their locations, either of the Elders could have moved from that temple.
One idea is that the Treasure Reef facility was constructed by pumping the water out and perhaps holding it back with dams. Whenever things went wrong there, the dams failed and the water flooded back in.
ooooo, I love that idea!
That would make sense actually. Sounds cool
Actually I never got to test this out myself, mostly because Im scared for my wl's, but are krills in the abyss agressive? I've seen someone mentioning that they don't get triggered even if you swim into their light.
Yes I almost died
based on this mural it certainly looks like the water level has risen from what the ancestors saw (yoinked from the wiki)
okay if mobile app is gonna be bothersome I may as well get my laptop.
should note that Sky lore is intentionally vague with few confirmed facts, so as we construct our theories with evidence and are biased to our own, however future updates can confirm or deny our theories and our theories can compete each other.
It's like manta racing! You never know which rider will make it first to the Colluseum!
yes, the krill there are aggressive. sometimes they bug out and don't attack or don't appear. I got lucky during the Abyss quest 4 where the krill didn't show up, though during the time a lot of players lamented lost winged light.
Actually, isn't the tower on the right at the same sea level difference as it is now? Seems even more like the collapse of middle part for me tbh
oh cool that's my pic Salem used for xir mural masterlist that got ported to the Sky wikia.
i'd have to double-check as there are multiple towers that could be that one and i don't remember which is which, but i was going based in part on the fact that the manta chambers we see are well below sea level but still intact. if it was a collapse, i wouldn't expect it to have just sunk directly down without disturbing the setup of the room
It could also have been built below water level anyway, and said dam broke and flooded it (maybe more gradually if nothing is disturbed)
Based from treasure map (pic from wiki) it looks to be the tower, since they drew it in the same way
given the darkstone mine adjacent to the facility, perhaps the Treasure Reef facility was built somewhat in the earth, somewhat sticking out in the ocean
Wasn't there a theory that this was a floating island before ? Think it was Alasdair's
doesn’t the tallest tower have this under it though? i don’t see where there’d be space for this under the tower in the first mural
admittedly that a sorta a joke but that's somewhat feasible. the Treasure Reef facility could've been floating or built above the sea level, but it could've fallen and sunk into the ocean due to removal of darkstone or the thing that went wrong. however given the murals depicting the tower above the facility rather than below, I don't think the floating facility idea is that likely
if that tower was a lighthouse, it would have been hella dope for it to float tho ngl
Careful with beta spoilers, they aren't allowed here /nm
psst, can't talk about beta content in this channel
Sorry, my bad
Happens, people see "spoilers" here and get confused.
you're cool, lad
Oh, what if only PART of the facility was held aloft ? The mining parts could be on the ground, but some others could have fallen afterwards. Thinking about that building in the middle in which we go for the first quest.
that could be possible, though that abyssal area seems to be like it was built into the surrounding earth
Btw. Is there any good theory regarding what the Vaults is and how it works? That entire elevator sequence is at least confusing. We just slowly raise to the stars but in the end just reach the last floor. It's kinda confusing on how it works in the end.
I like to think it started out as a mine, became a facility then was abandonned, perhaps the site was briefly elevated when it housed experiments
Well it could've floated in the mural (*G2), we see the Twins using their powers to elevate buildings having them floating in the air, maybe the tower was such a contraption
OH I NOTICED SOMETHING WHILE DOING QUESTS
On the "forest" level (with the trees and Polite Scholar) you can notice the walls are falling apart. People usually think it marks the boundary between the "real" world and the part of vault that is a dream, but what if that part genuinely was torn off ?
In the orbit ascent after dying in Eden, you happen upon statues not unlike the ones on the altar level of the vault, so I like to think it's possible the eden explosion caused landslides that bared the building to the air (since my headcanon is that like in the tomcept below, it's mostly underground) and the storm tore off part of it.
interesting - so like, we enter at the base of the mountain and travel up through it?
Vaults being in the mountain makes sense tbh
What what about the visible difference in space in starlight desert?
I had a theory similar to that, the Vault was destroyed after Eden Apocalypse, scholars that survived the blast were fixed on reconstructing vault, using memory crystals, to which they did experiments in the nearby desert in the Starlight Desert, hence the 'dreamlike worlds'
i was about to bring up the same thing, Desert is what throws it off for me
To be honest I try to ignore all colab-based content when thinking about lore stuff. I kinda feel like it wasnt made with sky lore in mind in the first place. But if Im wrong please let me know.
there's a piece of concept art (image 1) that depicts the Vault as inside the Eden mountain. given that after Vault Elder's cutscene, you exit the top of the Vault that emerges out from the ground (images 2 + 3) to Eden, that seems to have remained true to the Live game. we enter Vault and thus the Eden mountain from Wasteland Elder's temple, climb up underground, then exit the Vault when it pops out of the mountain.
as for why the Vault becomes less "real" seeming as you ascend, there's a thought that purple light has gone rouge in the Vault and is affecting the reality within it. purple light's exact purpose is somewhat unclear, but it is associated with the mind or magic. in the final Enchantment quest, Snoozing Carpenter uses purple light to manifest tents and tarps. so perhaps purple light can be used to manifest things or alter reality. purple light going rouge in the Vault alters reality indiscriminately. some think that whatever happened to Vault Elder let the purple light go rouge or affected Vault Elder's memory, who's trying in vain to reconstruct the Vault with their ailing memory.
purple light going rouge is also a proposed reason for why Starlight Desert is what is it. consider the entire place is purple. the structures may have manifested from the ancestors aka TLP spirits wandering in the area and, stuck in their vices, unintentionally created the islands with the emanating purple light, where they remained stuck.
"consider the entire place" is also valid in this context /lh
Well, being a dream sequence makes sense, given that in the end it turns out that we are still in the elevator that finally made its way to the top.
my spatial reasoning isn't top notch so i'm probably wrong here, but isn't Eden like, still way in the distance when we're in the Battlefield (closest outdoor area to the Vault entrance aside from Desert)?
btw I don't like to dismiss Starlight Desert as not canon just because it came from a collab season. yes, Season of the Little Prince incorporates outside material, but the characters and events of the book The Little Prince seems well-integrated with Sky's universe. the spirits (aside from the Little Prince insert) were turned into spirits and there's a theory that the TLP spirits are caricatures of the Elders.
also there is a wind path that goes to the Starlight Desert, so that connection to another season solidifies it canonicity. Starlight Desert may not have looked like as it does now during the ancestors time. one thought suggests it may have been part of the Wasteland that's been affected by leaking purple light.
We close that distance a lot by taking the elevator up. The tunnel leading from GW to the Vaults also seems to be pretty long (you can't see the end of it from gw temple side), so I think it's plausible.
On a different note, I wanted to post the last of my progress before I logged off. I used the switch trailer creature to base the wings, however the face is still bothering me so I eraesed it, now I'm remaking it.
And to be fair, I think we're unable to tell how far we are from the Eden from the moment we enter Golden Wastes, due to clouded skies that make it impossible to see, and then when we reach Vaults we're indoors. Basically the last time we could measure our distance from the Eden was at the end of Valley.
yea, the Starlight Desert seems very far outside of Eden and off to the side – in part aligning with the theory that the Starlight Desert is geographically connected to the Wasteland. however, as Tiritto pointed out, the tunnel from the Wasteland Elder temple to the first floor of the Vault seems long. the tunnel from the Vault to the Starlight Desert also seems long before we get the cut-to-black transition. we don't know how far the tunnel is, but I would say that it is a very very long walk to spit us out at the position so far from the Eden mountain.
valid, trying to wrap my head around the relative locations of everything is v difficult
Sky geography kills braincells. many theorists have tried making maps of the Sky world, may have given up
im in this picture and i dont like it
remember when the mapmakers were flipping out at the absence of Eden in some places, then the Shattering update added Eden to those spots (like the citadel) further made them freak out? yea, that was a time
I might be overreaching here, but this mural from the cave of prophecies looks like it pictures the vaults too. You can see the container things stacked inside (like in the vaults) and floating shape looking very much like vault's elevator right above it.
Regarding purple light leaking out:
One perspective I just looked at... What if people from starlight desert busted into the vault and into the archives, took the rogue purple light there and then after using it either light went back on its own or they returned it 🤔
ACTUALLY. Going with the picture that Alasdair posted, if you look a the prophecies mural, the krill is even on the same side as GW entrance on the concept art.
im mapmakers
hi are we talking Starlight
Yeah, there’s even the Vault Elder
but yeah. I believe this too aside from the structure thing
I believe it’s both the other way and not - structures formed, spirits were created, the structures changed around them
but that’s just own interpretation of all this
Do you think skids don’t have a krill call because they physically can’t make their sounds or because the world would simply collapse into itself if a sky kid had that power?
Wasteland elder: “hello sky ki—“
Sky kid: KRILL ROAR
Wasteland elder:
hm... we learn the other calls from spirits, right? mostly from ancestors who figured them out
i doubt the ancestors were big on seeing if they could passably imitate the things they were trying to avoid, and we haven't encountered a krill spirit to learn it from who wouldn't try to kill us instantly
but soft headcanon that with practice a skykid could imitate any vocalization they've heard
A Sky Kid says a curse word and Vault Elder gasps then looks over at the Valley Twins who are snickering.
context: moth Amander cussed out Rain Elder. the other Elders found it amusing. Rain isn't taking it well.
Dawn: you should not have been antagonizing them. One was going to snap eventually.
Rain: so? I will not tolerate such despicable behavior from a little urchin who’s only a day old and too much of a wimp to bear the Storm.
Night: soft chuckling
Rain: not you too.
Night: warranted or not, that was rather funny.
Rain: it was not.
Day: it was. I say you got your just deserves.
Dusk: a day old and got more spine than I do to insult you to your face.
Sunset: I envision a great future as a jack––– ahead of them.
Rain: you taught them that tongue.
Sunset: I will neither confirm nor deny that accusation.
Rain: you’re always teaching the children such vile terminology.
Sunset: sure and they learn off each other, we don’t keep track over who knows what.
the star variety (stariety, if you will,) grows
Lore question I forgot to ask yesterday:
What are the circumstances in order to grow dark plants?
those are hearts. I know what shapes are I promise
Isle: Does have dark plants
Daylight: *Definitely * has dark plants
Forest: **Definitely **has dark plants
Valley: Interestingly, no dark plants (iirc) Does have dark plants
GW: Does have dark plants
Vault: Interestingly, no dark plants (iirc)
Eden: Interestingly, no dark plants (iirc)
There are dark plants in Valley’s catacombs
A h.
LATE NIGHT THOUGHT ALERT!!
A Star Wars x Sky crossover
Something that has plagued my mind is the thought that not only do the deep calls resonate in reality, it also resonates through the Force.
And for any force-sensitive that is not a Child of Light, its like being krilled by a wave of pure Light
And Eden is a Dark Nexus. that fact alone is what hid the kingdom from the rest of the galaxy. including the Sith
HI LORE PEEPS A QUERY: are the whale dudes from this week’s quest in the same pose as the krills in the previous one?? I want to say yes but I didn’t take a screen shot of the krills before they ollie’d out so I can’t compare orz
don't think so.
the krills were angled down further if I remember correctly
the center one is very similar
you think they're related?
I thought so! Especially since what I vaguely remembered from the krill was the same configuration as the whales — the big one in the middle staring at you, the one on the left flying kinda horizontally, and the two on the right flying more up and down
Oh that reminds me too!! Are there any theories about why there was a smaller red diamond inside the huge red diamond??
I took one! (Though, I don't remember if this is the complete picture)
Ah curses I must’ve misremembered then!! Thank u for the screen shot ;w; <33
should have a few more krills up top but this is a good one to compare with.
yeah, didn't think they were that similar.
just the middle one, it should be behind the crystal
I mostly remember climbing up the big middle krill and jumping to the krill on the left to reach the diamond, which is why I thought it was familiar (since the left krill was pointing in the same direction as the left whale in this pic— I know because I tried to go as left as possible and ended up falling off its tail XD )
the whales are much higher up too.
That is definitely true
Its quite interesting to me that that centered whale is probably bigger than the rest of the whales, ||making me feel this fear of big things||
It could just be distance from the other whales that makes them seem smaller? I know I thought the left krill was smaller than the main krill, but it turned out huge
I have the same fear. somehow not triggered by it
and it's not probably, it's most definitely.
The thing's HUGE.
takes approximately 40? flaps to reach the tail
It also had this hilarious texture
And a very nice sound effect 👌
sound? I .. didn't hear anything....
Me neither!! I’ll have to crank the volume next time 8U
I remember seeing a concept art of a whale that seems to be bigger than the Skykid in it
bigger than the skykid? I mean... everything's bigger than the skykid....
Those whales seemed big enough to be an apartment building for Sky kids XD
close enough to be skyscrapers, at least the middle one. we be tiny
Idk if this is the video of me doing Krill Asmr
ahh dang... you meant the krill one...
can't go check it out myself then..
at least for now
Insert hand rubbing emote here XD
No as in... Very big (the Skykids are barely seen)
To the whales, we are the krill (size wise) uwu;;
Oh I DO know that there was a smaller diamond inside the big diamond in the krill memory (since I took a screenshot ;p) although it’s hard to see because it was red on red
OH YEAH
And it had that weird white beam thing coming out of it???
ABOUT THAT, THERE IS A DIAMOND INSIDE OF THE QUESTGIVER
WHAT REALLY???
Someone in #screenshots-and-videos mentioned it, ill go ingame and try to picture it
Here! (didn't realise it was reset)
OMGGGGGGG IT SO BABY IN THERE
So I guess the quest giver is the same as the one in the memory!! Or all evil red diamonds have little baby diamonds inside them
Interesting that it’s not broken/doesn’t have cracks tho
ahh... yes. it's HUGE
Looks like you see something from Persona 5 XD
“You’ll never see it coming!”
Yeah, it’s getting more shattered itself! In the earlier quests, it was more opaque
Do you guys think crabs can grow? Or do they stay the same size
Baaaby shard tutududu
thinks
if there were recipes in the sky realm, what could it be?
prairie and forest probably have an abundance of plants, and with the animal masks existing we could say there were animals
Seeing that grandma has a fireplace, they probably use it for roasting food, like chicken (no, I do not mean we can eat Dismiss Spirit)
Yes
light blooms seem similar to mushrooms so they could make meals from that, like stews?
Speaking of light blooms, I remembered the existence of Blossom saplings seeing that they are called "Blossom Trees" which means they can probably bear cherries (iirc)
yea prolly
also btw I would just like to drop a word that I found recently that makes a rly good skykid name
“Komorebi (japanese): The rays of sunlight that filter through the canopy of the trees.”
perfect for a skiddo who likes hanging out in hidden forest
Imagine meeting a huge crab. O.o Like the size of the giant king jellyfish.
I would be happy if it wasn't a shard crab.
BECAUSE THAT MEANS I GET TO JOYRIDE IT!!!!!!!
guys, what do the skykids eat
Newborn butterflies /hj
genuine question, it’s for a fanfic
the general consensus is that skykids don't have to eat in the traditional sense, but they seem to consume light for nourishment in the same way we consume food
do meatballs and pizza exist in sky
I dont think so, due to the absence of the animals needed to make meatballs and pizza
we have no evidence that they do, but there's no real reason why they couldn't, or at least something analogous to them
||does the pizza in offish count||
Office doesn't seem to be canon, since it is basically a realm where the real world and the Sky world merge, but if you do, it's possible
ok thanks
hi. told i can discuss what real animals inspired the creatures in Sky game here. can i ask something like that in here ?
Whales, fish, birds, and manta rays
- Shrimp and crab (crabs in Sky dont really look like crabs irl, kinda)
about whale.. the one in the current memory in my opinion, are more like some kind of slug or other mollusks
when i first saw them in current memory, i just thought "3D model under the electron microscope"
They seem to eat marshmallows, cake and cookies, they also sip tea.
But they don’t need it, we don’t have a nutrition/digestive system. You can play Sky without ever eating
True, it doesn't provide any light, doesn't refill the capes or have any other effect. It just is something that they can do.
The red diamond in the eden is really making me curious to know more about it.
It seems very similar to the Void of Shattering
i think “skiddo” is the best word i’ve heard all day
I'm 90% sure that the same way we freak out when moths are in danger is the same energy as when spirits try to help us but we are too dumb
Seems like they don't eat at all
They pretty much just eat because they want to and not because they have to, it seems like the way sky kids get their nourishment is by a process similiar to photosynthesis
Since the news post says we're roasting light, I like to think it's not unlike gathering motes of light from candles !
they eat for fun, but they "eat" light for actually food like we do
thats how i percivevit
For some reason Vault gives me the vibe that the elder is enjoying their best life living in a sparkly decorated server room, or whatever a building full of hologram hard drives called
And Vault elder may have Prairie scenery as desktop wallpaper. The elder seems to love floating islands so much, have them installed indoor with as real as possible faux grass, so they can touch grass whenever they want without going outside
vault elder does a Minecraft let's play
I’d watch it
Theory that cape isn't made out of solid matter because shadow doesn't have cape on it...?
yeah! it’s a fairly common theory that capes, pants, hair, and other cosmetics are tangible projections of light vs actual hair, which is why they disappear when your flame goes out.
me too
I bet it would be super chill b/c vault elder seems rly chill
Isle Elder makes ASMR videos. Prairie does gardening tips and tricks. Forest is one of those DIY channels. The Valley Elders absolutely make meme compilations. Wasteland does 'Chill beats to relax and get Krilled to'.
both fighting over who gets the 3 diamonds in a cave and then both die to a skeleton because they were too busy fighting to notice that they were getting shot
..i read that as valley elders. help
It's like superman
Forest Elder would also do ASMR but it'd be of rainstorms, forest ambiance, and noises from working in the forge. also their DIY tips would actually work and not seem ludicruous
Thats what I was thinking!
I imagine that the valley elders would also make compilations of them doing gamer stuff with a really loud intro
I can see them making tutorials for dances and fighting styles.
What about the guides?
Belonging guide aka Granny would record themself reading children's stories.
Sanctuary guide would probably do vids of how to take care of your manta
Valley elder may make video using wind magic to blow snow out of boats like a leaf blower
i have a feeling one of them would make a vlog channel
And the other would try and interrupt it
abyss guide has a travel vlog
vlogbrothers-style vlog channel
okay, please tell me I'm not the oldest here, someone here knows about vlogbrothers and that the Valley Elder(s) would totally do a vlog channel like that
it starts as a way to keep each other updated while they have to work separately for whatever reason, gains traction when people realize that's literally Samekh
What are vlogs
blogs in video format
Video blog
IM KIDDING I know what vlogs are just wanted to mess with everyone for a second because of this message, posted it and immediately felt guilty
taking away your catnip and giving it to Rain
Imagine Isle grandpa has only one video updated on channel and is super blurry shaky with finger cover part of the frame about boat collection
Isle Elder diagnosed with luddite
I saw a YouTube channel that was just videos of bugs the channel owner found in the forest once, wonder who that would be
that tracks for them rejecting darkstone technology
Laidback Pioneer
i was gonna say one of the assembly kids
The little prince guide is halfway between space and botany videos
one of Pioneer's TS hints says they have a bug collection
oh you're objectively correct then, nvm
Assembly guide would be recording trumpet covers of popular songs
Performance guide would make videos on how to overcome stage fright
[insert trumpet meme with Assembly guide]
Performance guide secretly takes videos of modest dancer dancing
nah, they're not like that.
if they do, they don't post them bc they respect that modest dancer isn't comfy with it
but more likely they just wouldn't yeah
If Assembly kids not died before they could grow up, I think they would be great house renovators. Or a famous interior designer group. They literally took raw materials and made furniture as kids.
girlwiththedogs but mantas
I can tell Performance guide cares for their students – they wouldn't do something as vile as violating their privacy
What about the dreams guide?
skating competition videos and teaching tricks
live reading of fanfiction
The curse, it continues
Sanctuary guide making "Top 10 funny manta fails" video
And Enchantment guide may make "5 easy simple spells you can make at home"
Flight's?
ik we said flight guide would do manta care videos but consider, that's actually light whisperer. flight guide makes short-form analysis videos about why you shouldn't support the use of darkstone
they also supply environmentally friendly alternatives and ways to reduce your darkstone footprint
Flight guide making political commentary videos set in the wind paths. their eloquent manifesto about the dangers of technology and ill-will of the system is occassionally interrupted by birdsong and manta cameos
"Using manta-pull boats to reduce darkness footprint"
a manta knocks the camera over once
that is their most viewed video
Time-lapse video of sun rising and traffic on wind paths
Lively Navigator
them just doing a video and manta kidnaps the camera and takes it for a ride
Then the manta chew the camera
lively navigator puts a go-pro on a manta and livestreams it 24/7
chimesmith does 10 hour wind paths ambient sounds to sleep to videos
How about prophecy's?
Workout videos I think
their daily grindset
fursuit making videos

idk why but I feel that Air Prophet would also record themself reading books
prophecy guide has exclusively shorts and compilations of "my four parents being idiots"
One of my favorite headcanons <3
im adopting that now
Fire Prophet would do motivational videos
I imagine prophecy guide foreseen lottery number once, since they somehow has enough money for air prophet to run air conditioner with open window in the middle of Isle
Just moving the sand around lol
one of them does guided meditations
idk which
Water Prophet
earth prophet does parkour but also yoga videos
guide has a video titled "earth prophet's top 10 parkour fails" and it's just them falling off of things
Mostly those floating rocks
i feel like guide also has a series of "prophets trying other prophets' trials" where they all fail hilariously
I love lore chat because we get to do things like this
i've seen people say they're intimidated by lorechat and i def get it on the days we're writing essays but in reality we're just doin a goof most of the time
HELLO
I’m mostly to blame for this- I even intimidated members within lorechat in the Dark Ages
What are the "dark ages"?
The Math times, the Pain of Physics, the Calculation Conundrum
….are those the 6 days of pure math again
Was that the height issue or the gravity issue?
Both
😭
Ah, understandable
We should do it again sometime. To assert dominance
WHY DO THEY HAVE TO MAKE THE LITTLE PRINCE LEAVING SO SADDDDDDD

I don't want to go to ||Eden|| now because then he'll be gone forever...
yea that’s the point
IKR
I wonder what they'll do for the Shattering finale when it comes
(betas keep your mouth shut)
appears Idk why but I've been thinking that every time you receive quests from the home statue, it's a little note scribbled by whoever with little pictures to help with them
ok but I think the exact same thing
almost like a little “loyalty card” skykids recieve and turn in
too tired to discuss though
Sleep!!! Although I can see several spirits just casually doing these for fun, especially the ones who be like "Come find me, CHILD"
The visual of these pictures but for spirit reliving quests/sapling quests is warming my heart, imagine getting a note that’s like “go relive this spirit and say hi” and it’s a little doodle of chill sunbather or something
Aww! But I wonder who wrote the note, maybe the TGC staff? (the one who lets us in the office in events)
What if the season guides sort of, inhabits the statue? Since it gives season candles… and since the guides don’t really speak, I dunno
I like to imagine the guides still give us quests & the statue is a game mechanic because it makes more sense and I like it better, personally
what if it’s an omnipresent force that knows everything hence why it gives you hearts for every 10 hearts on memory candle or boat
I agree. But who really is the home statue? It does resemble somewhat of a figure…
I like to think that some of the more difficult spirits (in gw, for example) were scribbled onto the note by the Valley twins when no one was looking
for social ones it’s “go make yourself some friends” or “go hang out with your friends”
The statue materializes candles and notes because logic is thrown into Oreo's fur
God imagine the experience of getting a note from a statue and it just says “You need friends, go get some”
Headcanon that Eden Crystal is giving Skykids daily quests
Although honestly, I personally don’t consider daily quests canon in universe except the sapling ones because I think they’re neat. they’re one of those things that is kinda foggy whether they’re meant to improve the player experience or are a thing that happens in universe as well so you can do whatever
Daily quests seems like something season guides would give.. but I don’t know why they chose to give it through Home statue. Like come on, they give us quests, they also give us hearts, they also give us season ult-
But apparently they cannot muster the will to give out daily quests?
Home statue is looking really sus right now
Before quests were transferred to Home Shrine, QGs gave them to Skykids directly before, not sure why TGC changed it
at least the guides still do a jig when you redeem completed quests
It was so that the buttons for that and seasonal quests wouldn’t get mixed up I think, and I totally get it as a QOL change. It does make me a bit sad because — Oh my god what is that pfp in the top left
the candle count filters sure are getting intense
STOP I WAS IN MY FNAF PHASE 😭😭😭😭😭
The crystal doing a cheer aka just bobbing up and down in the air scares me
IM NOT TRYING TO TEASE YOU IT JUST SCARED ME WHEN I SAW IT
What do you guys think about TS and seasonal spirits? Why did they come back to sky kingdom?
For seasonal spirits, are you also including when they first appear during their season or just when they return after?
At least this is sweet to see
Headcanon that TS comes back to greet Skykids and give them gifts as a "good job"
When they first appear
I imagine that TS return just to check up on the skids
And then TGC staffs come with crowd control (aka server errors) because of TS
I think the TS returns to visit the sky kids and check on them for the season guides since… season guides don’t come back
Okay!
TS - no real canon reason, you can make up whatever you want. I like to imagine they’re returning to say hello or something.
When we originally meet them - This is when we find/free them, and possibly help restore the area they live in (for example the assembly treehouse); basically we’re actively helping them be able to ascend at the end of the season if that makes sense
Woah i got lot of informations here. And what do u think about the quest givers are still here, not like other seasonal spirits ascending
prob gameplay mechanic cos back in the first four seasons, seasonal questivers did ascend but their quests were unreplayable to newer players
I think the quest givers are tied to the season spirits themselves, even though the season spirits may have ascended in the end of each season, the quest givers remain because I think they carry all of their memories and cannot move on…
There is no memory of the quest givers to be relived, so either they’re really really holding onto that memory or simply refuses to be freed for unknown reasons.
It’s just my headcanon
I miss off season qg
Ahh it makes sense. I ever thought abt they are refuse to ascend too
Thanks guysss ❤️
no problem! chats slow rn so if you’re curious abt anything else we’d love to answer
(I apologise for the photo wall)
Not sure if you guys have noticed this, but these masks mostly reflect the realm that they are in, the only question I have is, what symbolism of reflection does the two not-yellow-masks in Valley?
darkstone?
Maybe they were made in different time?
Like some hair has different texture or color tint
Sports helmets
The darker colouration might be because of the colder climate affecting the mineral deposits. Or maybe the masks are stone instead of wood bc there weren’t any trees on the mountain.
These truly are the times of ending
Come to think of it, i never saw any trees with leaves aside from wisteria. It's all wood or stuff but never saw a living tree
I know it might be due to technical limitation (cough rendering leaves are pretty bad for the phone), but story wise, do they (spirits) know what a normal tree looks like?
trees probably did exist at one point
Hey Lorebeans! Does anyone happen to remember what instruments they saw the Assembly kids playing? Here's a list of what I saw so far:
Daydream: Winter piano, bass harp
Scold: Panflute, basegame drum, xylophone
Cadet: Ocarina, basegame horn, Assembly bugle
March: Belonging guitar, Prophecy drum, Dreams mandolin
Botanist: Sanctuary handpan, big bell, ocarina
This list is probably incomplete, so please add in anything else you see!
I want to see if the instruments have anything in common, and if so, what they say about their personalities
So far, the only thing I can see is that Cadet plays wind instruments
ive also seen scold play one of the belonging guitars, let me see if i can find a video
it appears that i can not find said video
iiiii deleted it
Oof
You don't have a recently deleted files?
im pretty sure i deleted it from the recently deleted as well
freeing storage ig
eeesh
okay
I saw March play the trumpet during one of the Lightseekers sheets
The screen shot below has all of the instruments for each spirit during the sheet. I hope this helps! ^^
What's Daydream's instrument here
Kalimba
Scold was playing the Sanctuary handpan at one point, think there's a set case of instruments & the kids cycle through them
I headcanon the performance crew lended the kids some of them
Headcanon that they stole them
Compensation for whatever happened with cadet over the theater
remembering how scold used guitar anims on the flute in beta
Blorbo
scold wanted to play flute but just could not figure it out /j
they're learning
blorbulous action
Thinking abt the lightseekers/assembly connection theory and the possibility of the scouts names being partially based off it
i.e adventurer & pioneer
I personally link adventurer and twirl since they both got cheek triangles and are kind of daredevils !
I also get that but noticing that the slash on pioneers mask was carved in (like a scar) made me think twice! Wondering if they might be a mix of both
Like. Same damaged eye and the triangle on adventurer’s mask is in a similar spot to the tear
itd make sense for them to have multiple influences especially since the lightseekers we see r close in game, so id imagine theyd help eachother out
raising 7 kids we found in random locations with the besties/coworkers/???
They were born in a wet cardboard box all alone, they HAD to adopt them.
EXACTLY
lightseekers will see a star fall and ask is anyone going to raise them and not wait for an answer
Treasuring this concept thank you so much
Honestly being lightseekers, I wonder if they aren't seeking fallen stars and light to start with
lightseekers/assembly found family au (unless....?)
Looking for light to sustain the kingdom but instead you find a child
Good enough
Bold of you to assume it’s an au and not canon /hj
fixed it
I’m a sucker for found family and it takes a village to raise a child things, weird family dynamics beloved
Do you think they adopt skykids nowadays
I KNOW RIGHT I will do this to so many seasons if given the chance
Oh yeah definitely it just might be a bit of a struggle keeping track of them all
sometimes a family is you, your five coworkers, and seven gremlin children you found in the wild
don't @ me if i got the numbers wrong i'm tired
i can imagine them just like- "either you're one of the light children i've already adopted or you're one of the light children i'm about to adopt"
You can tell which ones Crab Whisperer adopted because they hiss
Cadet: how can I appear threatening?
CW: hiss
Not sure if those are all of the variants
Oh that’s very useful, thanks
Oh wow! Banging out the tunes
Other skykids: enjoying days of sunlight
Me: running after scouts and screenshoting every their movement
ONG U CAN PLAY THE BUGLE SOMETJMES? tgc i need the bugle so i can be insufferable
Struggling to remember what piggyback’s mask looks like for accurate theorizing because I have face blindness and don’t see them constantly at the saplings
It’s okay, I took a pic
i'm still not over the day or two when daydream was floating on the big jelly, that made me happy for reasons i can't explain
My sibling in bird that is pioneer
lines under the eyes!
OHHHHH theirs looks kinda like chuckles and foresters, wow!
Sorry, can’t read
Have always imagined chuckle and forester as siblings, I wonder if piggyback is more of like an older sibling than a parent figure, it fits better in my head
Oh my god realization
- piggyback is walking with voyager in their memory who has visible darkness plants growing out of them, which have gotten worse since their own spirit memory
- chuckle kinda looks like voyager in terms of general body shape and hair
- chuckle and forester are likely siblings and both have piggybacks mask
Conclusion: 💔
Is it a stretch? Oh yeah definitely. But it is now my headcanon hope this helps
why would you do this to me
i am experiencing intense emotional pain as well
we suffer together 🤝
I like to think chuckle is linked to doublefive too since their mask line is a bit curved like a smile, just like doubles's mask looks like it has eye bags
It's the U shape
YEAH I GET YOU that’s a really sweet detail, never noticed it before. Was kinda curious how doublefive hadn’t been involved until now they have the vibes of someone who’d adopt every child in sight
I assumed it was due to timeline reasons
I like to think the lightseekers were alive roughly at the same time since pioneer, twirl and double seem to have known eachother long enough to be goofy, and it probably is the same for the others who seem calmer (except crab whisperer who is being a nuisance to everyone).
Doublefive could prob go to and fro Prairie and Forest even if they lived post-apoc. Imagining them interacting with the scouts then
One of the TS hints says they would make food for the scouts
YEAH ME TOO I was just thrown off because none of the scout masks seem to resemble theirs,
hold on let me try to find a comparison pic with all the lightseeker/assembky together for ease of reference
I think Double-Five would let Daydream rest their head on their stomach while they nap and the scout doodles in their sketchbook
Adventurer (local menace) being enabled by Twirl (Valley's thembo ever).
#lore-discussion-spoilers message here’s a good collage from maelstrom!
Stealing
Hopeful: none of the masks really resemble doublefives because they adopted all the assembky spirits so there isn’t just one of them.
Probable: timeline reasons with doublefive knowing the others but dying before assembly happened
The devs aren't THAT mean to the spirits
Tearful Light Miner, Fainting Warrior
are you SURE about this, everyone is dead
Salem, everyone dies
You know what I could be even more horrible and say what if the corpse crab whisperer finds is Doublefive but I choose not to
Nah I don’t think it’s Doublefive, but it could be a lightseeker, hence CW’s dismay upon finding it
Alasdair behavior
I don’t think it is either but I’m just showing I’m holding myself back /hj
Hissing, I just proved your point wrong
tbf i'd be pretty dismayed if i found a corpse regardless of who it belonged to /lh
"Don't worry, they die in my fic."
_ _ - Alasdair, 2022
I mean, it WOULD explain why they chose to investigate that specific shipwreck… because they knew their friend was on it and realized that as soon as it crashed
I think a lot of lightseekers were in Wasteland to help folk there, just how long they lasted varies.
Hold on, I could weasel in writing
Oh yeah I agree with you. For this idea to work you’d have to explain why doublefive is there in the first place which would be a massive struggle
Took a nap on the wrong ship
Context: “the lightseeker” is CW, they just forgot their name in the fic. Bayáta is a lightseeker OC, dw about them
I like to think Crab Whisperer was looking for people that were still alive and looting the shipwreck for their own survival.
"dw about them"
Sure hope nothing bad happens to them when they eventually agree to go down below the clouds to help the stranded souls of the wasteland...
Don’t worry I heard nothing bad ever happens in alasdairs fics so we’re good
Absolutely nothing to worry about, we know ze wouldn't hurt a fly in hir fics
see? happy ending, nothing to worry about
Al, you make me want to make so many lightseeker ocs
Go for it
this is a can of worms you don't want to open
I want to open and eat them all with extreme speed, why hold yourself back from full power, frog whisperer is already so good
Bringing the can opener
why is there no can opener emoji
FINE. here's my sona
I LOVE THEM yeah see ! You should make more
Bird on shoulder cosmetic + bird charmer emote
"want to make" says Vela, as if the OCs are not already made /lh /hj
What if mantas had legs
They do, they're just folded beneath their feathers like birds !
wait really
You have no idea how much I love them
psst do you mind if I circle back to the whole assembly scout titles kinda being based off the lightseeker connection idea? there’s something I forgot to mention
Shoot
your sona looks extremely kind vela btw although they do not have the inkling of a barely concealed desire for mischevious violence that I associate with you
Thanks, they died before they could take the kingdom over with their bird army.
If their braid was longer, they could whip blokes with it
Ok so if…
Marching adventurer’s title is based off pioneer,
Scolding student’s title is based off shush,
All of these so far make sense right?
But what about scaredy cadet
Hmmm
I love how I'm so evil it seeps through the screen
champion?
“My little cadet...”
Champion makes sense to me
for clarification scaredy cadet has crab whisperers mask and now I’m wondering where that title came from given this very much hypothetical concept
NOOO NOT DFT IT MAKES ME CRY
CADET BEING SCAREDY BECAUSE IN THE REALM THEY'RE FROM WATER IS DANGEROUS,,,
Oh right...
Scared of water cos they’ve seen so many drown in the polluted seas
...cadet bc those wasteland soldiers gotta start somewhere
I like to think that when Cadet came under CW’s care, Cadet wanted to be a lightseeker just like CW so CW started calling them “cadet” in like affectionate mentor mode
that's far more wholesome than my interpretation
I CAN SEE THIS ONE, I totally believe it’s like, an affectionate term (like, you’re brave enough to be a soldier?) if that makes sense and not denoting cadet as a member of an actual organization (although I could make an argument for that)
Unless
Don't scouts have cadets ?
I think so yes but this is from the context of the titles being connected concept, although this specific iteration is likely not as canon as the past two examples I mentioned — we are basically toeing the line of hc territory here
-does a cannonball in hc territory because it's fun here-
(rip to whoever got beaned)
Okay let’s hope this doesn’t get deleted this time.
I like this one the best so far, but with a more search and rescue focus than general lightseekers, although that touches heavily into my hc about how they work.
Well the search and rescue is more just happenstance since they're supposed to get fallen light
That’s a possibility but not strictly confirmed, they could be in it to rescue people, which would count as light if that makes sense. I like to imagine it as like, a specific subset of lightseekers
I don't think that works, but that's just my opinion
Okay?
Perhaps when Cadet’s only inspiration was militia forces, they wanted to be a soldier to help people, but became enamored by the possibility of being a lightseeker cos they’d be doing the same thing but ✨ cooler✨ yet kept the military moniker?
Especially if they had a Respect for their former position
My Scouting experience just kicked in and yea, Cadet is a Scout rank (although the Girl Scouts spell it “Cadette” cos girl power or whatever).
why are americans borrowing the worst words from french /lh
Cause English is a monstrous mix of a ton of languages
I’m trying to explain how my headcanon here works but am struggling, I’m aware it’s probably not the best but I like it, so it doesn’t matter.
So basically, my idea is that ancestors work kinda like skykids in that they have a lot of inner light that they give off, right? And this inner light is traceable; you can sense its tracks and where it’s coming from with enough training, like lightseeker training. Which would be incredibly useful if you’re looking for survivors around shipwrecks or natural disasters and so on.
hence my headcanon that that’s what crab whisperer is doing because they seem to search around the shipwreck a lot before eventually seeing and zeroing in on the place they find the body.
I noticed that all the lightseekers kinda seem to be doing different things pertaining to the job as a whole so that was my guess for cw
YEAH I LIKE THAT A LOT
Especially because they give a call ! Which helps us in-game with getting attention from and finding other players.
Good job with your creativity Salem!
yeah that was my general idea as well! I’m glad you like it, I have been a bit insecure abt headcanons lately so that’s why I hadn’t shared it before.
Don't be insecure about your hcs, they might change some peoples canons as well
i definitely understand being shy about them but fwiw i rly like your headcanons and what you contribute here
Thank you, that means a lot to hear!!
Your welcome salem
My headcanons so far for the other lightseekers are
piggyback: healer, due to their interaction with voyager who is sprouting darkness plants
doublefive: plays music on their flute to attract & gather light for various purposes
pioneer: I mean they’re kinda obvious (maybe exploring forest?) but it’s hard for me to connect it to lightseeking, might need help here.
twirl: something to do with music and light again I believe, although less attracting light and maybe more making songs off it. Again, hard to figure out.
crab whisperer: mentioned above
shush: teaching lightseeking stuff
Lightseeker guide: group leader or something, hmmm
Sorry for the messiness, just wanted to drop this here to discuss
i'd have to replay pioneer's memory to be sure, but isn't part of it that there are those flowers that bloom when you/they reach the checkpoints? maybe their thing was spreading light back into the forest when the rain turned harmful
yeah I noticed that as well! I like that idea, especially because botanist has their mask, & also is studying the same kind of flower currently in the sunny forest.
I think ‘specialty’ is the word I’m looking for here with the different types of lightseekers
maybe pioneer's specialty was studying/maintaining/restoring light ecology?
I really like that interpretation, stealing and running off with it
wonder if they would’ve run into the flight/sanctuary spirits at all
take it, it's all yours!
ooooooh
I'm always stalking lore chat and this just happened to spark my interest, I love these ideas
thing I would like to mention about twirling
wasnt there a theory that music is somehow related to light? yea that
soundwaves being used to manipulate lightwaves or something? i remember that
somehow valley is very related to performances, music, and light
YEAHHH I think I was talking about that with doublefive! I imagine light as constantly having a ‘song’ that changes based on its surroundings & can be tuned into at any time with enough training/inner light, and that’s the OST themes we hear in each place.
maybe twirl studies these songs or something along those lines
I think it was that music can be used to attract Light Creatures since its at a frequency that they're attuned to.
That would make sense, since before their season the only kind of flowers there were before are the little glowing red ones and nothing with nearly the same amount of substance as the bigger ones
music sheets?
Twirling Champion does have a panflute
i mean in game music sheets change the ost in the backgrounf
Oh yeah, I get you. I’m not entirely sure how those work yet with this concept, although I’m very open to ideas; maybe they’re like… a specific spirit’s inner light song?
could be yea, since music sheets are sold by specific spirits so maybe?
I just think they're music that those spirits liked so much that they can project it from their inner light
That's a cool concept
maybe the music sheets take priority because of the sort of... subtle, background nature of the ost light-music? the 'ambient light' we'll call it, could be recognizing and responding to the way we/spirits interact, so when we make music, the ambient light harmonizes with us? (i don't think i explained this v well but it's a nebulous concept as it is)
I think I get you! Like it’s easier to attune to the music sheets than the ost ones, because they’re ‘closer’ to us?
easier to attune to because theyre inscribed and we can see how to attune to them
Pioneer is seen protecting light in concept art, and their memory has them visit the bonfire. Perhaps they were in charge of setting up refuges where they think light my be near, if not to directly shelter light !
maybe thats what the symbols mean on the music sheets?
I like to think the OSTs is how light "sings" in when interacting with certainareas in the world. theoretically one could attune to the light in places and hear the place's song
I mean they are pioneers, a path/wayfinder
Yeah, I was adapting that to the context of lightseekers ! Perhaps they built shelters on the path of migrating light creatures
writing this down for fic stuff
which assembly kid is associated with which lightseeker again?
This also makes sense, especially if they’re studying the flowers to find where they’re sheltered enough from the darkness-rain to actually grow
oh that makes a lot of sense. it's like there are species of flora & fauna that only grow when the environment isn't polluted with heavy metals
@torn eagle here
Daydream & Chuckle - piggyback
Marching adventurer - mix of pioneer & champion
Cadet - crab whisperer
Botanist - pioneer
Scold - shush
Assembly guide - lightseeker guide
thank you both!
no poborm!
there's also this comparison with the lightseeker and assembly masks
salem it does make sense for pioneer to do both then
since they have a connection with botanist, which is related to plants, while their pathfinder skills are passed on to adventurer
idk what adventurer got from twirling champion tho.. maybe their sense of showmanship? XD
I hadn’t thought of this, it’s a really good point! And now that I think about it, they seem like two areas of knowledge that would link together — like knowing enough about plants to know which ones wouldn’t grow in darkness rain, and those are the ones you need to look for.
assembly x lightseeker my beloved TvT
i imagine in the process of scouting/trailblazing it would also be really useful to have the knowledge to identify the flora you come across
it's possible multiple Assembly scouts took bits of inspiration of multiple lightseekers, so there could be overlap
but ig where they based off their masks from are the main inspiration/mentor
I also think it’s really neat how the guides of both seasons have a complex symbol across their mask that becomes the season symbol in general, I would assume there’s a relation there as well.
oh that reminds me what exactly is the assembly symbol 🤔
Fleur de lis
to me, looks like a fleur de lis and a campfire combined
It’s also reminiscent of a campfire!
I've always seen the lightseekers symbol as like reaching out to receive an orb of light
Yes, Lightseekers is the symbol of two hands reaching for the light
yeah!!
im looking what fleur de lis mixed with a campfire symbol could mean in sky considering lore implications of assembly scouts with lightseekers
tbh what pops in my head is that assembly kids are a part of some kind of division/group/order thats tasked with tasks sorta like on-the-job training while theyre... training.. to be the next lightseekers
while lightseekers are a specialized order/division/team in all matters regarding light
seeker scouts...
the campfire could also be a symbol of unity bc of how people gather around them
sidenote: what do yall think is the reason why piggyback ventured into the lightseeker tunnel in isle?
personally I think they ventured there because the tunnel is sorta like their storage place for spare orbs of light
maybe its a nod to how they should act when they become actual lightseekers
must work as a team, united to face every challenge they will encounter
I’d vote this and that they were trying to gather the extra light to try and heal voyager maybe?
maybe thats why theyre confined in forest.. theyre training in a place where theres harsh rains and where dark plants grow
I like to imagine that piggyback is in isle for the same reasons apaosdair imagines cw is in wasteland , to help the people stranded there bc it’s a dangerous and desolate encironemnt
which is highly possible.. piggyback sent to isle like how medical missions happen in the real world and they went to the tunnel to get light to heal voyager, as you said
Apaosdair?
Tried to say Alasdair, failed horribly
Psorntoo strikes again
Apaosdair, Alasdairs alter ego
"They live happily ever after in my fic"
I like to think they were doing a ritual with other Isle spirits (perhaps to summon a source of light ?), but it failed and wounded Rejecting Voyager.
The latter spirit's memories lead you to their shell within a cave under the temple, so perhaps they felt death approaching and walked all the way here to see the mural one last time...
what word was psorntoo supposed to be
Person too
no it was supposed to be post too
"I like that psorntoo" = I like that post too
I just remembered psornman
Dammit, my typo skills failed me
The curse, it never ends
felt death approaching and as their final act led that miner with him to the depths of the cave and told them "no dont do it"
You would be carrot
Spirit memories isn't necessarily the last thing they lived before dying tbf
eek--
The thing miner was told not to do
I love how they're pouting
THE SACRED TAXTA
TAXTA
Stealing Taxta to name a character
They commit tax evasion
I've had my name misspelled a lot, but nothing tops Salem's
Tbh it would be kinda funny if spirits died after their memory
Like imagine pointing candlemaker abruptly dying right after their memory
1 name misspelling = 1 grilled cheese
I was thinking of Pouty Porter's memory the other day, its cutscene been bugged for the longest time, but why the sphere they were carrying (I assume Light) is heavy?
Waving Bellmaker
thats tragic XD
maybe its heavy becase its light that isnt extracted passively? full blown industrial process
I missed leaving the boat going to hermit valley while typing this message
My only thought is that not being perfectly atuned to the Light would cause it be difficult to handle
thinking about it I havent seen any other spirit hold an orb of light 🤔
There is Portly Porter but I don’t think they’re carrying a light orbbgiven the apparent weight
maybe its heavy because its a condensed form of light? if not im standing by your hypothesis
what do you think is it?
portly porter
Isn’t that their name?
It's currently bugged, but from what I remember years ago it was a white sphere
pouty, not portly
pouty porter*
there is no portly emote TvT
Well then
They took Enchantment guide’s orb from the old promo pic
I love just how humorously bugged Sky can be sometimes
Stuff like the flying Door in prairie (that video cracks me up every time) or crab walk's memory (not long ago I had a bug where walk was absent from their cutscene and it was just the crabs)
Pondering the orb
Funny bugs aside I agree with Alasdair, it's really similar to the Enchantment guide's orb from promo art
porter ready to party with boogie kid
THE FLYING DOOR
