Hey guys
So i dont really remember where he came from, but there was a krill in the starlight desert, in this one veeeery creepy area where u can see eden.
Guys, where did he go? Why was he there in the first place? Did i forget or miss the cutscene where he disappears? Where did he go to?
The ones from abyss are still there and u can visit them anytime, even king krill.. i wanted to visit the krill in starlight but just saw that he is gone :( its sad that thia place has nothing left than a campfire now, would be so nice if the krill was still there

The krill from the second last TLP quest is meant to represent the snake from the original story !

The season is not entirely canon (though still contains lore clues, looking at the geographer books and most recent shattering poem) so it's possible the krill is just meant to be a sort of cameo and not actually here.

If you’re familiar with the story of The Little Prince, the krill may supposed to be either the snake the Little Prince allows to bite him believing death would allow him to go back to his home planet (which could also be Eden), or it is supposed to be the fox that the Little Prince “tamed” seeing as in the quest the krill did not attack him.

The fox was tamed by the little prince and missed him after he left, which is also the desired effect of the season on us.

That's funny because I'm not sure if it was here or on another server but I told a friend I think the Rose tamed the little prince too. Hence why all the roses remind him of her and why he misses her.

Not necessarily in a sense of ownership but the mutualism needed to form and maintain healthy bonds. One is responsible for their own relationships, in having one. One also has to be responsible for ending it.

I think I mean that we make marks on each other through our interactions, our friendships, our comraderies. We are not responsible for other people, but we do make impacts on others in the same way they make impacts on us.

In a way... we are (at least from our part) responsible for our actions while interacting with others. How we behave and treat others also have an impact in their lives as well as your own life (and viceversa). The little prince's fox speaks of "taming" most likely because is something they can understand. For us, that word is more an "allegory". But in any case, friends can leave a deep mark in our lives. And I believe we need our friends and they need us to form and maintain that bond (friendship).

I agree that it is sad to see that the krill in the windy section is not there all the time.
Especially considering that the area is out of the way and the krill would have been a brilliant point of interest for skykids to visit.
We see the manta in the starlight desert appear most of the time, why not the crispy danger noodle in the windy section?

It is not like it would be a danger, since it is happily patrolling behind a wind wall.

May be due that TGC only though of that one krill in the context of the little prince story (i think it represented the snake).

When comparing the story of the little prince to the events throughout the season of Sky, each character from the books were accounted for except for the snake, the fox and the pilot.
It can be argued that the skykids play the fox, as the prince would befriend us while visiting a strange land. Though the same can be said based on how the skykids meet the prince beside a broken boat (who may be represent a broken plane), as well as later on, skykids would be able to pilot a plane in the special little prince area.

This leaves the krill encounter to be argued to be the snake.
The krill is a malevolent character that us skykids are well aware of being a devour of light. When we find the Prince wandering off towards Eden, the emotional story telling may be similar to how the pilot felt when learning about the prince's thoughts of dying after finding a well.
Both the book and the season started to escalate when the little prince was found talking to a snake/krill beside a wall, and then planning on dying soon. Where the little prince went forth and died in the desert, the season climax had the little prince go to eden.
At least in both the book and the season, the prince's kindness and assurance that they will be ok ring true.
As the skykids can either, move on and believe that the little prince passed on to the afterlife, or look up at the stars, eyes closed, imagine hearing their laughter among the stars, and remember the time they spent together.

I concur with Vela's statement that in a livestream/interview with the devs. That the skykids are like the fox as the little prince spends time with them, cares for them, and we do the same. By becoming 'tame' (though that may be applicable to animals), us skykids become friends. Which is a bond that is particularly difficult to break with a skykid.

Also when Petite went on talking about dying and going towards a Krill, the physical stress and the collateral emotional damage he left me with, I was not prepared for that

I read the word “tamed” a lot from this community (especially in reference to the skids). Are we some type of animal or something compared to the spirits?

Is an emotional story. Even if you already knew it (I read the book for the first time several years ago).

Tamed is a word used by the fox in The little Prince /Le Petit Prince story. It uses to name the bond between the Fox (wild, lone) and the Prince.

I understand that the word used by the Fox (Renard in french) can also be understood as "more sociable", more docile, apart from "tame". But what is importante in the story is that the Fox feels has found a friend, and even though has not the best word to name that bond.... has a very profound description of it (look at the part where tells the little Prince how unique he will be to them).

a lil lore thing i noticed recently is that kids capes actually do move independently from them like actual wings. idk if that makes sense i mean like they can still flap their capes even without using their arms (like if you boost while holding a candle so you can’t use your arms to flap) idk i always thought that was a neat lil detail

I have a theory: Do skykids grow old? Is that why they go to Eden to finish off their life and then pass on their life to the next birth cycle of a new generation of skykids?

And not only that, is the Chibi Mask a representation of a newly formed skykid that is just starting their life after being reborn in Orbit?

Skids seem much closer to Elders than to ancestors,
Both skids and Elders have unlit forms and both can manifest cosmetics of light, and Elders are confirmed to have always been Elders while skids aren't implied to age physically
Both also came directly from the Light (debatable for skids but still)

I had a thought that, since skykids mimic so much, they might be mimicking yet misunderstanding their first encounter with Dawn Elder. In Dawn’s cutscene, they have a ruined mask and their eyes are closed. Only when they reassemble their mask does Dawn open their eyes. Perhaps skykids saw this and thought that it was custom to keep ones eyes closed when maskless or wearing a broken mask. Only when they discovered the Abyss scavengers and got their broken masks was that belief in skykid culture challenged

I just had a thought that the Spirits from Performance could be refugees of Eden once the city started spiraling into chaos and here is my reason why this is the case:

Masks represent the culture that a Spirit belongs to. Spirits with boat masks hints that they're from Isle, the masks of the Enchantment Spirits allude to the fact that they're definitely not GW natives and the broken masks of the Abyss Spirits reflect their adventurous lifestyle.

Valley (Dreams and Performance) have birds as a reoccurring theme with the masks but the difference lies on the type of birds each mask has. The Skater Girl and the Spinning Mentor both have masks modelled after birds that could fly; the phoenix(?) and the quail. The Performance crew (except for the guide) all have penguins for masks, and they're all flightless. The Performance Spirits could have penguins for masks because that's the culture that they belong to which I believe is from Eden

Eden is a mountain and no doubt it snows there a lot. Penguins are from cold areas of the world so it wouldn't be unusual for Eden Spirits to have a thing with making masks after animals that reside in frigid places

Perhaps when the Spirits all fled Eden, they all got dispersed into different realms. Their trips in search of a new home could've contributed to their detailed backdrops later when they became a crew

I like to think that the first Eden refugee Spirit to be found is the Frantic Stagehand guy. His clothing is a complete odball to the rest of the crew, sporting a dark blue color compared to the crew's red/yellow clothes. Since he was first to be picked up by the guide, he ended up spending lots of time with her to the point that Stagehand's fashion taste got influenced. Both the guide and the Stagehand wear dark clothes and can always be seen next to each other in Harmony Hall, signifying a deep friendship between the two

It sounds a bit weird at first if we think about the fact that the guide specifically hired a bunch of Eden refugees to do theatrics but I can kinda see why. The Eden refugees (now the Performance crew) were probably struggling to find a purpose and a place to stay after their homeland got annihilated. When the guide realized this, she hired them in order to give these Spirits a purpose and for her, the guide, to make her dreams of being a theatrical director come true. It's basically a win-win situation for them

hey there lore folks, i don't really come here often but i have a basic grasp on the story of sky i guess? from what i understand, the big eden diamond blew up at some point in the past, while the spirits were alive? I have a couple questions about this

• would this event have killed all of the spirits while they were alive? or could they survive after that, to die and become spirits later?
• would it have had an effect on all of the sky kingdom? like, in the sense that buildings and such would crumble, shards would fall like the ones from Season of Shattering etc.

I wanna talk about my lore on why do crabs exist in sky? And why are they evil?

So long ago, a tiny drop of darkness fell down from the cursed dark sky, making a crab. Due to this, more drops of darkness fell from the cursed dark sky, making MORE AND MOREEE crabs.
But after longgggggg years, another drop of darkness fell from the cursed dark sky, this time not making a crab, but making a dark skykid. Just like the crabs, more and more drops of darkness fell from the cursed dark sky, creating more dark skykids.
The skykids learned how to live in the sky kingdom, and eventually got used to it. They found the crabs and became great friends with them. Some skykids have pet crabs, bringing them everywhere in their adventures.
But one day, a skykid stood out and said:
“We have to make a change. I found out that the sky is cursed, and we have to fix it and make it bright.”
The other skykids immediately agreed with him. All the skykids have some light in them, so they sacrificed some of those light, putting them into water, portale, grass and many many more, removing the curse from the sky.
One can do a little, together we can do more.
As all the skykids had used some of their light, the curse was removed. They stood out and all the darkness from them are removed. They became children of the light. Generation after generation, the sky keeps creating light skykids
But crabs still remain dark.
The skykids have promised them to stay dark, as they can go along so much better if so. The skykids had broken their promise to their best friends. And the skykids were now making friends with the other skykids, leaving the crabs alone!
The crabs wanted to take revenge.
A crab knocked a skykid. The skykid lost some winged lights. The crab had found out a way to hurt them. But think back on their friendship, they don’t wanna hurt them too much, so they decide to only knock 1 wedge of light out of them.
So that’s why.

1. Spirits survived even after Eden "blew up." Performance Spirits have an Eden backdrop that shows Eden and its storm. The Abyss Spirits also explore a submerged quarry, likely flooded as an aftermath of Eden's storm causing chaotic weather around Golden Wasteland

2. We can only assume that these Shard events happened only now that the Ancestors (now Spirits) are all dead. Many parts of the Sky Kingdom like Isle, Prairie, and Valley were not severely affected by Eden so perhaps when the Ancestors were still alive, they just continued on their lives. Season of Performance literally took place when Eden erupted into a storm and they hosted a performance as if nothing was out of the ordinary

The point is, the stuff we see in the Performance area had already existed before the season takes place. This means that whoever made the stage backdrops in Performance was* very much aware of the catastrophe that was happening Eden

So, the question is, what ultimately took all of them out..? I mean, the realms show evidence of the planet facing destructive changes such as rising sea levels (Dawn, Prairie, Abyss) or dried up seas (Wasteland)

I think it was like a nuclear apocalypse: everyone died from starvation, or just darkness. I think that once you relive the spirits (and make them ascend), they can either stay in Orbit or come back to this world (either as a TS or in seasonal quests)

Seasonal quests are still memories at core. When we partake on a quest, we're reliving what the Spirits experienced. The Spirits go down from the stars and re-enact their memories with the Sky Kids involved. That said, it's shown that Cackling Cannoneer drowned and was eaten by King Krill when she tried fetching a diamond. Originally, she probably did die but since the Spirits are re-enacting the events with the Sky Kid involved, they probably adjusted their story to better include the Sky Kid. Instead of them showing the Sky Kid that Cannoneer died, they gave the Sky Kid the opportunity to add their own twist to the story by saving Cannoneer. I don't know if this makes a lot of sense

Others say that the Darkness that Eden has is some sort of radiation that slowly killed them off; they would still be able to live their lives but they would also be dying slowly

OH OH i have a headcanon that as time goes on, even if over hundreds of years, the spirits have more of a physical presence and are able to Do More Things and basically act as living people (even if it's at a different pace for different spirits). By the time, say, performance happened, the spirits involved could have very well did the show on their own, they weren't, like, intangible or anything.

Im gonna be honest for the purposes of my headcanons i tend to just... forget about ascending spirits, either bc it doesnt vibe or because i genuinely forget You Do That.
though I do have an interesting spirit headcanon- the spirits don't have actual names! A side effect of the eden calamity was that the darkness kinda... scrambled their minds a bit, and one particular effect of that was that everyone genuinely forgot their names. some of the spirits made up new names, some of them refer to eachother by title or job, but nobody knows who exactly they were before the calamity.

I have a question, do ancestor spirits have the ability to create their own flame/light? Because darkstones are charged with light. Sky kids can activate these because they have their own light. If the ancestors are incapable or doing so, it would explain why they needed light creatures as source of light to process it to make power diamonds.

Ancestors may have a soul core of some sort, that sparkle that’s usually blue but orange/purple for quests, but otherwise they don’t have a flame like skykids do. They may not have had one in life but ancestor anatomy is a fraught science

I also doubt they could take that soul core out of their bodies. We haven’t seen one try. Perhaps it could be disembodied forcefully but that’s debatable and leans more into headcanon

chance. when it comes to how irl species survive mass extinctions, it's really about whether the mass extinction event targets their niche or not, whether they can evolve or adapt quickly enough to survive in an environment that is rapidly changing, whether they can find their living needs in such conditions. that is not to say that these species won't take huge hits to their population or ever recover their previous numbers. while the Eden calamity was likely a mass extinction event, there could have been more birds, mantas, and whales during the ancestors era than there are today

a common theory, given the Abyss murals, is that the facility in Treasure Reef was used to experiment with converting light creatures into power diamonds. other experiments could have occurred there that did not go as intended, corrupting the light creature subjects. krill are confirmed corrupted creatures, likely corrupted light creatures, thus the leviathan may be the same.

it remains unclear whether creatures could be born of darkness itself rather than corruption. darkness claims the beings that the light creates – so far it seems not to create itself. whether this is how darkness as a force works or we have yet to see pure beings of darkness in-game is debatable. some fanfic writers tamper with corrupted skykids or kids born of pure darkness, but that remains outside of canon. frankly, idk if Sky is going to go that route. however with the new Shattering cosmetics, one could roleplay in Sky that way.

in my own fic, I have an uncorrupted skykid who is experimenting with darkness, comforted by the familiarity in darkness and determined to have some control over it. there were other skykids before them who had experimented with darkness as well but things went very not good

I see the Shattering cosmetics in two ways:

1. the Ancient Light & Ancient Darkness are granting skykids some ability over or bond with the beings on their respective sides, which the skykids are reflecting. for instance, the darkness plant cape could be a skykid literally manipulating darkness plants to function as a cape they have control over.
2. as with ancestor spirits' outfits, skykids are simply emulating the aesthetics of the beings of light and beings of darkness. the cosmetics are light projections, not of the entities themselves.

the cliché many view light & darkness now is one of a solo perspective. we play on the light side and darkness hurts light, therefore our immediate assumption is that darkness is bad and apply other morally repungent beliefs onto it. they're not wrong that darkness hurts light, but that isn't an objective point of view.

it's like how irl prey and predator relationships are painted as the pure, innocent little creatures being ravenged by monsters. no, that's just how nature is. things gotta eat. we also don't have the perspective of darkness because darkness does not have a voice in this game.

my (un)corrupted skykids come from darkness and give darkness voice. not every one is as sympathetic as Nanif, but they have a perspective on darkness beings of light lack.

I peeked in #beta-discussion , being negative as usual, when I noticed something: a complaint about the season was the lore, or supposed lack of it. Although we've only seen the first 2 quests, many of them felt like an Eden season had to focus on the lore, despite TGC explicitly saying otherwise. What's your opinion on Eden seasons and lore?

i think a lot of people have unrealistic expectations for what we’ll get this season. throughout beta testing I saw folks make suggestions that are best described as “put all my King headcanons into the game” when that’s just not how tgc rolls. We’re not walking away from this season with 0 lore, but it’s not going to be the ultimate lore season

was it my message? i am disappointed with the way they presented the memories in this season and i feel as though there was much more potential for lore.
i think the first eden-focused season should have had more to do with lore. it feels like a bit of a letdown for me as it could have been so much more than it is. i wasn't expecting everything to be shown in a clear way like "here's all the lore here's an explanation for literally everything ! yippieee!!" but.

shattering’s not perfect but so much of the criticism i’ve seen of it has been… pretty unfair? like saying that the crystal crabs are way too hard, when they’re not much different than regular crabs, or that the shard events ruin the atmosphere of the affected areas, that it doesn’t fit the themes of sky, etc etc

i'm not that great at reading between the lines in lore. i have difficulty finding meaning in things that aren't written words, so having things presented in the way of the memories (a static image with no real stated meaning or words behind it) is just a huge struggle to me. i wish this season had less of "here's this scene. you interpret it how you do." because the image enters my mind and then leaves it. (i am Not neurotypical)
