just a small tip for that, try practicing to play the basic scale first! It should help you get used to where the notes are. And try to find patterns that help you remember easy ways to play some things too

it’s not possible to implement anything extra into the in-game music system to help you learn, unfortunately, and to do so would be against tos . what you could instead do is just practice the song on the sky music app, then apply muscle memory and that practice to the real keypad in-game

i'm just like. how do you get used to playing 5 note chords quickly :o

Start slowly and work your way up from two, three, and 4 note chords. eventually you'll find a position that feels comfortable for your hands but it also depends on the specific chord and where the notes lie. What I used to do is press each note in succession, one at a time, until all of my fingers were either on the screen or just barely hovering over, and once i figure out that position and if it works, i play the full chord and keep doing that until it's no longer as strange

in my case i'm right handed, so i usually use my (left) index and middle finger/thumb) and my (right) index, middle, and ring finger for multi-note chords

my thumb is usuallt just used for any notes on the bottom row if it's too awkward to get with my index

sorry for the late response, i just got out of class -

there isn't a "bass clef" similar to a traditional piano, since you've only got this one keypad - in that sense, you only have a treble clef you're working with. you could theoretically string together a full piano by recording yourself playing in every realm, but when playing/transcribing, the 15 notes are all you have

there are certain instruments that are higher/lower in octave, and you can find the pitch ranges in this guide by tracey - #questions-and-help message
in this way, by using a piano + a winter piano, you can add an additional octave (since the winter piano is an octave higher than a regular piano)

so yes, ledgers do exist - but you'd need to either be in a higher pitch if you're playing in-game, or you'd need to add a winter piano if you're transcribing in a composer

2. set the correct key

the Sky Music website has a “midi-to-sheet” function, so if you have the midi file of the song you can try to use that. i’ve never used it though, so i don’t know how well it works

Well...first get a .MIDI file of the song you want to make, if it exists (be careful what site you download from) go here https://sky-music.herokuapp.com/songComposer.html and follow the photos above. Once you think the song is ok, you can press download sheet. I’m not too sure how download works right now so you’ll have to play around with that.

Unfortunately because of how discord works the images will show at the bottom of this post.

1. Find a .MIDI (audio) file for the song you want (be careful what site you download from, make sure the site is safe. You can search “[song] midi”) then go to https://sky-music.herokuapp.com/ . Click the three lines icon at the top left of the screen (if on pc, which is recommended since its easier to see things) Then click song composer.

—NOTE: If you can’t find a midi file, use a YouTube video downloader (I tried using 9convert.com and got results (download it as mp3) then go to a site like https://anyconv.com/mp3-to-midi-converter/ and put the mp3 there to convert. You should have your MIDI file! If your song got messed up, for now try finding another way (will update if I find one)

2. Now that you’re here, click the settings icon (gear) and scroll down/ look until you see import midi file.

3. Select the file you downloaded and play around with the settings (like offset/bpm) until you are satisfied with the song/amount of notes played on each beat/ it has a success percentage (how easy it is to play iirc) near 80 (only a suggestion, doesn’t have to be 80). Do note that the composer isn’t perfect and the song may be off, so if desired make sure that you edit it before continuing.

4. Now that you’re done with your song and want to save it, click save next to the gear icon. Name your song and then click “GO BACK” in the bottom left corner. Press the three lines menu and this time go to sheet displayer. Upon clicking the song box, your song should appear in the dropdown where mine says ‘test’.

5. You can now take a screenshot of the sheet, keep the sheet in sky music (if you clear cookies it may be erased) or scroll to the bottom of the page where you can find the text that created the sheet (sky notation ABC1-5)

6. To be able to save the song sheets to your computer in a better size, you can use thatskybot (not modmail, it’s currently LePetitBot) or go to https://jmmelko.eu.pythonanywhere.com/music_maker/ I recommend skybot because it’s more convenient.
   For skybot, open a DM and write “!song”
   Copy paste the notes that are at the bottom of your song in the sky music page, you don’t need to add spaces or change anything.
   Put in the key of the song or put C
   Write the song title, original artists, arranger and transcriber.
   If skybot asks for an aspect ratio, I recommend the default but feel free to choose what you prefer.

Congrats! You successfully made your own music sheet. Skybot should send you images /a .zip of your song sheet that you can save to your device. I really hope this helps someone because this took way too long and used a lot of effort Happy transcribing

• Successive keys not registering
• Accidentally tapping players and chat messages when playing due to wide space in between keys (would be better if the system disregards the background when playing instru just like before)
• it heats up my phone faster than before

if you got the zip file from the midi, just open that up on your desktop then use sky music's "midi to sheet" converter and you should be set
