How do you merge them?

I record them seperately, then take the video files and simply change them to .mp3. They will still contain the video data, but Better Audio Editor, kinda a version of Audacity, can still process that. I simply drag the two recordings in there, zoom in and drag them around so the beat at the beginning of the sheet lines up perfectly, I did it to like 5/1000ths of a second but you can do way less accurate too, then simply cut the bits before/after the part of the recording you want to combine and export the final result as mp3 file, in this case using extreme preset which is definitely good enough

Anyway only the instruments actually offers a varied octave range specific to certain instruments. What you're looking for could be rhythm piano or the xylophone instruments as they're higher pitches

there used to be a player called _____ sky who was very famous at the time for his music videos in sky. He was actually my inspiration to join this game and learn music irl. Ohhh that sounds pretty good! I think if you could maintain the low E (try practicing it by tapping it using one hand, for me it's right hand index finger), then you can play the main melody well! Keep practicing that part so that you won't skip a beat; think the E note as the seconds of a time (try to be gentle at first)

a metronome might help you get a feel for that bottom note ! it ' s like the grounding beat of the song . though i personally focused my energy learning the patterns of the melody first and then checking how it fits with the bottom note and counting the gap beats if you know what i mean !

Totally agree!! If you feel metronome helps with you maintaining the beats of the low E note, then go for it!

In my experience I didn't use a metronome, I just kept listening to the piano covers of that theme so I can "feel" the grounding beat, so I play the melody based on how I feel. Also it's ok to sort of "breathe" between the beats, it's natural!

1. the last few days I've noticed the daily music sheet in Harmony Hall is the same music sheet. I love the music sheet, is it unlockable so I can play it anywhere?

2. How do people play music that's not built in music sheets? Do they just memorize what notes to play, what order to play them, and memorize the timing between notes?

1. The Sheet should be Waltzing in the Rain from the Saluting Protector from Season of Gratitude. It will be unlockeable for 15 Candles (+ previous spirit tiers) when that spirit returns as Traveling Spirit

2. It's just like any real life instruments, you play the notes you want to play, either memorizing them or just playing a melody, same for the timings etc. You can also add notes while playing a sheet by the way :)

you are technically playing in tune but only because the instrument is off tune (it’s in f major), so that’s why there are notes that are not in tune

but since f major is only a single b flat different from c major, most of the notes would sound correct

so if you just shift the notes down by 3 or up by 4 the notes will be actually correct

Is there a way to change visual layout for music on PC like you can on switch?

The "do-re-mi-fa-sol/la-ti-do-re-mi/fa-sol-la-ti-do" organization is messing me up, and I'd rather see it as "do-re-mi-fa-sol-la-ti/do-re-mi-fa-sol-la-ti/do". Having it this way is more comfortable for me on a keyboard and visually makes more sense for me.

There's no way to change the grid layout unfortunately. But what I do is reference the marks on the buttons. For example the circle diamond combo mark is the "do" (or C), there are 3 of them

And the rest I just memorise the chord combos

Yes you can! Here's a quick video showing it on my PC using my Flydigi (Xbox 360) controller. My personal go-to is the second one that looks like the actual controller layout.

I played all of these with the same order until the last one to show how its keybinds are different. The default and controller layouts both have the same keybinds, but the third one has different keybindings along with a different visual method; it divides the controller into two sides where the left is the lower half, the right is the higher half, and they play up/down the scale as you move "up/down" the controller.

...If you couldn't tell, I don't use the third one very often hahaha. Had to practice that a couple times. Did the normal keybinds first to show you how different it is. Also moved my mouse in the beginning to show it does not allow you to keep the visual layout if it detects you aren't using a controller.

I like to play there in theory for example, but just like shared memories, there is a time limit of one minute. Which is just too short to play most good songs even at 2x speed. The walking with instrument is a thing with most standing instruments, it's often fun to cr while playing XD

You should be able to copy a layer and paste it into another layer. Then just delete the overflow notes from each of the layers which should be a lot faster than manually setting them. I don't think there's automatic seperation once you've already have everything in one layer

Final preview of the recreation of Castle Vein by Heaven Pierce Her. I know that it's 2 times shorter than the original one, but it's already hard enough to recreate the shortened version (I used a piano guide for most of the song to try to make it accurate and it still took me a week in total) without knowing certain things (like how to put a hold-note in there. I do believe that it's possible, but idk where that option is if it does in fact exist) nor having certain things available (don't even begin on the fact that I have nothing there (that I know of, at least) to recreate an Amen break with in any meaningful way)

You're welcome! It's called the Circle of Fifths. Each key has a certain number of flats (as signified by "b") or sharps (as signified by "#")

The outer row with the big letters is the major key. You start the scale of that key on the letter it shows.

The inner row is the minor key, you start the scale of that key on the letter it shows.

For example, for a C-major scale ("C" at the top of the circle), you would start at the note "C" and play up to C without any sharos ir flats. For an A-minor key (the "Am" under the "C" at the top of the circle) you would start on the note "A" and play the scale up to "A" with no sharps or flats.

This was made possible by connecting my 88-key piano through MIDI input, and creating my own program to process the input notes. The visualizer was also written by me.

The notes get smartly compressed in order to fit 88 keys into Sky's 2 octave format, and sharps/flats (black keys) are rounded down to the nearest white key. The notes played are also "automatically" transposed into C major. In order to prevent overlapping of notes when multiple notes are converted into the same Sky note, there is slight note quantization applied, which only plays the latest pressed notes.

Hi ! I’m trying to recreate songs in Sky (like "Counting Stars" or "We Are One"), but I’m a bit stuck. It feels like there aren’t enough notes to cover the full melody—I can’t go low enough or high enough. So I don’t understand how some people manage to play pieces like "He’s a Pirate."

The main problematic third party apps are the ones people used for auto collecting wax - people have been banned for that. So i think that’s why there is the concern around third party apps and accounts being removed

but for musical keyboards vs alphabet keyboard, there’s essentially no difference between pressing a key on a letter vs pressing a key on the musical device – all of it is just the same, it’s a key input.
It’s completely different from above (where players take the same route in the game over and over)

Usually, if you have the music in your audio settings on, the pitch will change according to the bg music. However, there's also a bug where the pitch will sometimes change regardless of whether the music setting is on or not

You can buy instruments from certain spirits, from the permanently available ones the piano from the Cheerful Spectator in the Valley of Triumph constellation is probably a good choice. If you want to try more of the instruments, especially ones from Traveling Spirits (which only visit once every 2-3 years roughly) the Harmony Hall in the Village of Dreams, also in the Valley Realm, has a lot of them on the walls to play. Shared Spaces also regularly have various instruments in them

I don't post here much and it's been an era since I last did. And this may be an enormously stupid question where I end up embarassing myself.

So I've been playing Sky since 2024. And I started playing all sorts of known tracks as soon as I got the violin on Summer that year.

For context, I'm musically illiterate I can't read or write music notes at all nor do I know much about scales, chords, intervals and stuff. I also do not know how to use music softwares at all, and so I learn 100% by ear and trial and error.

2 years later I don't feel I made any breakthroughs and I don't see any progress at all.

Is this normal? And to people who can play complex stuff, how long did it take to break out of simplistic tunes and what actually worked for you?

Again, apologies if this is a dumb or annoying question with super obvious answers.

It's been bothering me for the longest time and have no one to talk to about it.

There are plenty of musicians that I know who learn via ear. I also can't read sheet music and learn by ear or by watching others play!

Piano is the overall best if you want to learn, because each chord is distinguishable and even solo notes sound good on their own even if you play on freestyle.

The violin is the hardest instrument you can pick as a learning tool 🗿

Probably one or two months. I used Sky tablatures, for I have zero knowledge of music theory or real sheet music.

I started with the harp and the piano (I was into hoarding instruments and still am). I picked a song I knew and liked that wasn't too complex and found a tablature that's fairly easy and slow but still out of my comfort zone (4 finger patterns). I then essentially made myself read and practice the sheet over and over again—starting very slowly, increasing in speed until satisfactory, and finally properly learning the rhythm—until I brute forced my way into developing muscle memory where I could comfortably play the sheet without pausing too much. I then moved on to identifying patterns in Sky tablatures and ingraining the findings of those observations to find a 'ground' in the music.

So, the way I learned was to treat the visual of chords as one object (and to mentally file the most comfortable finger placement for that pattern and any similar patterns) and to make myself comfortable with unfamiliar stuff. This is the method I am most comfortable with.

Apologies for a cold ping, but I'd really like to share my 3 cents as a sky music player who's actually born deaf with a hearing implant.

First I was also musically illiterate, and I was once inspired by how beautifully played music in sky so I tried to play simple songs at first. Then the very first proper cover I did was actually Interstellar. It was truly out of my comfort zone but I learned about chords, some basic music theories and even rhythm from that one song.

So over time I've learned many covers, thanks to the fellow players sharing their covers and sheets for me to learn from and I've gotten to understand the basic chord patterns, the keys and scale. It just takes time. Heck I even remake the cover of Interstellar 3 times, and I could see my improvements through all the covers.

Sometimes it takes guts to try challenging sheets, like the "Disappearance of Hatsune Miku" I recently covered and I am pretty happy with it!

Even I once gave up on Flower Dance cover in 2023, then I retried it last October. I'd like to make a new cover again of this song xD

Like others have said, I highly recommend using basic piano or grand piano, whichever suits you fancy, to improve your music playing. The notes are audible personally and you can easily follow the covers others have made since most of them are on irl piano.

It all takes time, no need to rush ^^

I don't know if what I'll say will help in any way, but personally I had a "song break through".
by that I mean I learned a song that was out of my comfort zone, and it changed how I learned and played music entirely, making it a lot easier and fun for me
everyone experiences music differently, at a different pace
don't quit trying to learn and improve if you find it enjoyable ^^
art can be extremely difficult to learn, but everyone can learn it, it just happens at a different pace for everyone, don't be discouraged
