Well... Thank you. I take my sleep hour just to understand how the website works. I almost gave up on how I can get like pitch D because on a piano cover that I found on yt, it was on a 4th base, which Sky instruments doesn't have those (idk what that "base" should be called, "pitch" maybe? But I called that as "base")
I was trying several songs besides Moonstruck, mostly needed flat too (which I figured out later)

Some creators do not wish to share their sheets bc they want to protect their own transcription from being spread around without being credited. All you can do is to respect them and if anything you can kindly ask ^^

I just see someone just straight up copied someone's transcription without properly crediting them in the description and I feel its disrespectful. Especially since the creator takes a lot of time to transcribe as accurately as possible

Considering that a lot of sheet creators out there have a culture of respecting someone's work, like many Japanese creators chose to not share and ask to not copy without permission

I’m not sure about Sky game, but there’s lots of information on YouTube for how to train your ear so that you can learn how to play without score. Look up Call and response type videos.

If people are screenshotting, that’s making some form of sheets regardless… in one video, they have the sheet for the HARDER part (which took more time) and don’t want to give the sheet for the actual easier part..

I just find it very frustrating when creators of very niche songs effectively gatekeep music playing in a community that is built on giving to others. As for the easier music sheet, I’ll probably have to go ahead and remove some of the chords myself

Tbf, most sheet music can typically be found behind some sort of paywall. I don’t necessarily agree with paywalls, but like someone said earlier, I can’t really fault someone for wanting to protect their work

Tho at the same time, music is meant to be shared and played, so I understand ur frustrations. This is specifically a community built on sharing and engaging with one another, so it’s a lil off putting when someone doesn’t want to. But at the end of the day it’s their decision, and it’s best to focus on what u can do

Not if you want it exact. Either you do what I did and rearrange the notes to maintain the upward motion of the notes, or you preserve the order of the notes and sacrifice the upward motion.

So if you want to preserve the note order, it would be F-C-A-E for the first bar and then F-D-A-C for the second bar, but you would have to jump down before the last note in those series.

Today, 11 April 2025, literally 20 minutes ago i heard super coolest in the world of Sky playing at guitar in location Valleys of Triumph or Triumph Valleys or something. I forgot name. Anyway it was super coolest in the world, i started to record it. It was a some player what i didn't saw because he was "grey" unloaded for me, i wanted to do it when he finished playing because he was playing too wholesome to bother him, but after he is finished playing and i finished recording then my game crashed and i left the game. I don't know what happened after with this guy, i came after 5 minutes or so, but he didn't was at that place anymore.

Something awesome happened today! I was trying to practise a new piece of music (mostly unsuccessfully) and trying it out on different instruments in harmony hall.
I was bemoaning my lack of a violin as well.
In fact, a year ago(give or take) I had tried to buy said violin, but whatever I did the purchase wouldn’t go through ;-;

I been trying to learn how to play songs on sky for a while now. And I keep failing.
I can play really easy songs like happy birthday. Of your happy and you know it. Ect.
When chords get mixed in I just cant figure it out. I keep clicking the wrong notes or just plan out missing them all together.

Basic advice is if the chords are what you struggle with, then start with just feeling out the chords and take it slow. Experiment with different hand/finger positions to find the most comfortable way to play each chord (more relevant to touchscreen/keyboard but can apply to controllers too). Once you're able to play the chord progression of a song, then introduce the melody and adjust what you already know to accommodate it.

If you're still struggling (maybe there's too many notes to play at the same time or the D-pad on your controller is one big piece of plastic so you can't hit buttons on opposite sides of it), then you can modify the chord, though that requires a little bit of music theory knowledge. Generally, the most important notes in a chord are the root, the 3rd, and the 7th, so if you have those three, you can sacrifice everything else and still retain the color of the original chord.

There's probably more detail I can go over using a specific example (I've been working my way through modifying some of Andrew Prahlow's works for a solo Sky instrument and using a bunch of tricks for that).

hi! so this is actually done through some simple music theory knowledge :) different sky areas have different major keys and are just 2 octave scales. if you know this its easy to figure out most songs by ear as all music utilizes intervals (spaces between notes, such as the distance between C and G being 5)
if you want to get better at sky music, id suggest learning the very basics of music theory, specifically how scales and intervals work

btw im still a student so if anyone has better information than me please correct me!!

yes a lot of it is muscle memory and i assume thats what most sky players utilize but i know to get super good at it you should learn a little music theory stuff

A lot of people (myself included) use Sky Music Nightly to transcribe and compose songs we can play on Sky instruments. It makes practicing easier.

When transcribing a song, watch out for accidentals and key changes. You can't play accidentals, and you have no control over key changes (the key changes when the background music changes key).

Sky Music Nightly has two modes: Composer and Player. Composer is where you can write and transcribe songs and review playback. Player is where you can practice. Songs you save in the Composer carry over to the Player, and the player has two different practice modes: One where the notes go at the speed you set in the composer, and another that waits for input between every note.

I play instruments in sky in such a needlessly difficult fashion. Like i see people crossing their hands over eachother to get more notes at once. Meanwhile, I’m using mostly my index/pointer finger and my middle finger on the appropriate sides to get notes. That and occasionally my ring finger and thumb, meaning I have trouble with positioning chords lol. Doesnt stop me from practicing and working hard to learn songs but what hand positioning do you all use when playing music in sky?

look at sheet music! covers or transcriptions of your favorite songs. you will have to gain some knowledge on reading sheet music, but something that helps for me is musescore 😸 it plays the notes back for you to hear and transcribe. just download sheet music on their website and play it on the app. it helps me to transcribe it to sky better

Been trying to experiment with sustained "bassline" notes while playing mid to high notes to create ambient pieces.

Anyone’s instrument suddenly change key in Sky? I set the key, didn’t change maps, and BGM is off.I thought it might be caused by BGM, but I never had this issue on the China server.Not sure which channel to ask about this, so I’m just dropping it here.

You can send a bug report. And you can ask in #questions-and-help . But yes I noticed after the update the key changes when playing in certain places. So I use the sheet music trick to set it to default. I hope that helps!

I actually always use sheet music to set the key, but it still randomly changes sometimes. I’ll gather a bit more info before asking again. Thanks a lot for your help!

attached is the range you're looking at. the numbers are actually meant to show intervals from C. C=1, D=2; etc. It's the same way that C and D are directly next to eachother because they're a part of that major scale ( C D E F G A B C / C Major)

Something to note is that kalimba is a bit strange: unless you're really good at the kalimba and understand what key produces what note/pitch, it's not a great idea to try to translate kalimba to sky.
Though I do have a question: what kind of kalimba are you using, and where did you pull this image from? I can't find anything similar online but I know for a fact that american "kalimbas" that are mass produced aren't exactly the same thing as traditional ones. Not a bad thing in your case, but I do need to know this to further help you
I'm also happy to explain things more if you don't understand!

On kalimba (to my knowledge), C is always 1, D is always 2, E is always 3... etc. Which you may already know but is important to note

I ordered a 21 keys kalimba...tried to find a picture in the internet since my kalimba isn't here yet for 21 notes....most of them had the middle note (1 C) but my kalimba has the note 4• in the middle instead so when I found this image in Google I sent it XD

Okay, I see. I haven't seen a kalimba like this before so that's why I was a little confused. My picture from before shows your range / the notes you'd use.

The only difference is that the notes are in different places than you'd expect them to be

Then yes, it will be difficult. However I'm sure you'll be able to do it. Before anything, get comfortable with the kalimba and learn some folk songs / simple songs on it before you try to learn anything else. I believe in you
