hi guys, i have a question, the majority of players in sky play in mobile/console or pc??, i ask bc i want to know in what platform is more easy for you to play music

For me personally doing the daily musical challenge is way easier on mobile

But this highly depends on if you're good at typing as you would know where all the keys are on the keyboard

I'm not very good at typing and I'm the type of person That needs to look at the keyboard in order to type things

So just being able to tap the screen makes it a lot easier

But that's not to say I can't do it on a keyboard though
I recorded this video of me playing the Outer Wilds it's banjo melody although it's just muscle memory After having helped from a friend to learn it

There no settings to help learning, you can scale up the buttons if you have big fingers and change pitch via certain sheets (I wish they add a pitch changer for good) also you can play in caves if you want reverberations

Other settings are for sheets/other players to see what keys you play

yes it doesn't require long press notes, but because the instrument itself always has sustainable notes, letting go too early can cut the sound almost entirely. and sometimes, as i've tested it, there just won't be any sound if you're too quick

the best option (depending on how much you wanna put into this) is to buy a cheap 25-key USB piano and use coyoteMIDI to map the inputs to keyboard inputs. a 25 key usb piano has 15 white keys and 10 black. the black keys wouldn't be used, but you'll have exactly the right number of white piano keys (15) and the placements are accurate, where the lowest white key is the lowest note in sky and the highest white key is the highest note in sky

that way you'd also be learning a real instrument

this is what i personally have. each white key registers a pc keyboard input (coyoteMIDI to convert midi inputs to key strokes. just select the keystroke needed for each piano key). the furthest-left white key will be mapped to sky's lowest note, the furthest-right white key will be mapped to sky's highest note

I haven't played on PC in a while 'cause my fps is terrible, and instruments just aren't fun to play with a cheap keyboard. However, if you want to comfortably play instruments on PC, I got two ideas that might help. You either move your keybinds to the left side of the keyboard, and/or you get a keyboard that has keys that align

The number of keys per row is pretty much the same as on touchscreen, so it should be easy to translate if you bind it right

You can also put tape on some keys where you get confused a lot, or as a marker to indicate where the non-instrument keys are. That might help, especially if you look down at the keyboard a lot (this one I've used for doing virtual piano)

Hello guys, just wanna ask a general question for 2 sky music composing apps. Now all I use is my phone and I've noticed Sky Studio is more smoother than Sky Music Nightly and that when I try to get a script from Sky Studio and put it in Sky Music Nightly, it usually plays really oddly. I've noticed it plays it in a much faster rate than Sky Studio and the timing doesn't really sound correct. I just wanna know if Sky Music Nightly takes in Sky Studio scripts well or not (or perhaps it's just my phone )

Both apps have different rates of bpm, even if it has the same number of bpm, it may have a slight variation. Maybe try to play around the bpm in the Nightly settings and find if you can match it as closely

It should be the exact same? Weird that you have BPM issues. Also if smoother you mean the scrolling animation in the composer, that's intentional to show the tempo more clearly

Oh since I'm seeing it more often now, for anyone that plays sky on pc and wants to use a midi keyboard to play, there is actually a way to use sky music nightly as the keyboard itself, so you can use the touch screen of the phone to play on pc (it also works if you want to use the phone as a keyboard for sky music nightly on pc)

Multi color rows, improved timing

In the sheet visualizer you can now select the notes in the rows to have different background colors, to make it easier to see

⚠️ BREAKING CHANGE ⚠️ I changed the way timing works in the app to make it more accurately follow BPM, previously if the duration of a single column was something like 150.7ms then it would be rounded down to 150 (this would accumulate overtime and make the song go faster than it should have) while now it follows the correct timing and it rounds the number correctly. This means that songs that have very high BPM might now sound slightly slower than they did before, and might need to have the BPM lowered slightly

If anyone didn't already know: In Harmony Hall, the two ancestors that wander around sometimes go up into the upstairs corner with the seating. When they're there, you can interact with the bouquet to start a jam session with them playing a sheet with 3 instruments. The current one is Queendom by Aurora.

Choose a song that isn't too fast, has only one note played at a time

You can try learning "happy birthday" first

The tutorials can be found on YouTube and practice it on sky while watching it.

Or you can use a sky music app like Sky Studio or Sky Music Nightly to practice. You can also download the music sheet for a song and use the guided practice on these apps
