we gotta consider that newer players tend to flock to the new seasonal areas. And I would hate hate for a new player to think the rest of the game is as frustrating as the fire trial or even quit because they get too frustrated. I know a few friends are already not looking forward to it because of the difficulty since they do like to solo a lot.

I have watched the patterns too and sometimes they changed for me so that they became incredibly hard to dodge in anyway. When i played it at launch it was too easy and now its just frustrating at certain points really.

seasonal hearts are only obtainable when you finish a seasonal spirit's tree, what you get at the end of the trials is a winged light
the 4 winged light will soon be able to help you obtain the 11th wedge (not yet in game tho)

I don't particularly enjoy the trials, but I respect that others do. I'm a little concerned that we are expected to spend so many hours to complete just the one trial, though. It doesn't feel like they are built around skill, but more around chance. I don't find I have much control over the end result of what I'm doing in them, except maybe in the water trial.

Water is obviously the most refined trial and for me honestly the most fun. The earth trial gets frustrating when you server merge and the platforms flip and the air trial candles sometimes dont launch u correctly . But you can complete them all reasonably quickly. Theyre challenging but not impossible. Fire trial is just frustrating as hell imo. Ik newer players wont complete it or like it

if they weren't hard then it wouldn't be a challenge! i think that whoever wants a challenge-something tougher than eden- will have fun with these new trials! i believe that they aren't meant for everyone to complete first try... maybe you have to leave and start over with a fresh mind. and again, due to the reward only being one star(at the moment), it's not a terribly big deal if they are never completed! i think it'll just be fun to work your way up to finishing because then it will make you feel so much more accomplished compared to trying to speedrun all four in a row, or even just push yourself so hard that you get in the VERY WRONG mindset. i do agree that they are really difficult, but everytime you do it, it will hopefully get easier?

@potent heron all the more fun to try and complete! it gets frustrating (trust me, TRUST ME) but the best way to go about all of these is to have a positive attitude. i went with one of my friends for the first time yesterday, and he had already gone once before, but he was ready to give up at every minute. i think that it's always good to perservere, and if you really just cannot go on, then leave and soon come back feeling better! the whole point of these trials is to remain calm, have patience, and be brave.

Water trial was great for me! Earth trial iirc was okay but the rock hopping thing at the end was a bit frustrating...though Ig that's the point. Air was fine, though I find I tend to misjudge a lot when jumping around which leads to me falling off platforms (like my failed run today lol). Fire...yeah I'm staying far away from that one

I think the right balance is hard to find, if the trials are too hard and take too much time, people won’t come to play them a third or fourth time. Also, the same, if there’s no incentive to. I only go to Eden to get the ascended candles for the Traveling Spirits and spells.
That said, if the trials are too easy, they’ll get boring for those who are looking for a challenge. But I prefer the easy games to be honest. It’s far too frustrating when you keep failing at a level, and I don’t need that unnecessary frustrating from a game too haha real life provides plenty already XD
That said, I think always doing only spirit reliving is a bit boring. I have to admit, I found the reliving spirits season after season sort of mundane and the aspect of the game I was most looking forward to has been cosmetics. I like how the trials are attempting something new and adding more to the game play. I love the idea of this season and enchantment. They’ve both been experimental and added something new to the table
I think TGC is still working on the specific difficulty levels in each of the trials. Let’s submit as much feedback as we can!

There is a difference between doodling through them and it being frustrating. When it dropped i literally just ran through it on the first day. It was way too easy. But fire just became frustrating because of how the whisper patterns change and how buggy it becomes.

First time I ran through trial of water I died so many times and even had to use the prophet’s deep breathing emote because I had never been so frustrated with Sky. Now, after multiple run throughs, it’s become fairly easy. I’m not getting luckier, I was just inexperienced before.

I think the shadows shouldn't kill as long as you're at max light, for one thing. And two- you should be able to stay in the darkness for a little longer. I think that would fix a lot of my issues with the fire trial.

i think that maybe going into fire trial either a) warning to enter with a friend or b) have a system where if you enter alone, you go into a server and the game gives one person a free candle to friend the other, this way for the people that don't have any friends online, they can make a new one JUST FOR FIRE TRIAL and then after the trial they can choose to use personal candles to stay friends or just go their separate ways...

My tip for fire is to zooooooom all the way out on your camera then look down, this way you can somehow see your candles and where the krill farts will pass by. I used this method to memorise the pattern and look at which candles are safe.

i think that maybe going into fire trial either a) warning to enter with a friend or b) have a system where if you enter alone, you go into a server and the game gives one person a free candle to friend the other, this way for the people that don't have any friends online, they can make a new one JUST FOR FIRE TRIAL and then after the trial they can choose to use personal candles to stay friends or just go their separate ways...

Even if I can complete it, I know that many solo players or newer players wont. To me its about that. It being accessible to everyone. Yes it will be a struggle but it shouldnt frustrate to the point of quitting.

@karmic jolt what part are you stuck at? second and third areas you have to pay really close attention to the monsters, you cant really jump for it. theres parts where you have to stand still at a candle (not a checkpoint) in the middle of the trail for a little bit and wait for a monster to pass. You'll still die a bunch solo but if you pay close attention to the monsters you'll hopefully light more candles to the next checkpoint with each attempt!

Tbh, when we did them the very first time, I didn't even think the wing lights were real. I thought they were there to show us the story of the world of Sky and in a way, I almost wish this was true.

I know many players who are kids or older. Not everyone has hours to sit down and figure out a trial. Yes it should be the hardest trial and it should be a challenge. But much like the water trial, it became easier after the 3rd run.

ooh the narrow passages area is tricky. i remember theres one checkpoint where you have to wait at the checkpoint for one monster to pass, go three candles in, wait for another monster thats solo to pass in front of you (almost taking your light!) and then follow behind it through the path

I'm not talking about mistake deaths. I am talking about forced deaths due to how it is built. Learning deaths or "oops" are fine, but if you're skilled enough, you should be able to go through without a forced death.

It's not that it's hard, it's totally doable, but the controls being this finnicky just lead to a ton of unnecessary frustration. And don't get me started on the gusts of wind...

Yeah, that corridor is a forced death corridor or you have to back track to a safety candle with precise movements due to candle lighting delay and fire regen.

i think i know which one u mean. it was pretty frustrating cause the timing of the whispers sometimes meant u couldnt get through it. I had to die like forever until i could just jump through

If y'all are talking about the corridor I'm thinking of, there's a sort of shortcut. If you go the opposite way of the candles and towards the wall, you can go around it. IIRC this is the very beginning of the third part.

The only thing that got me past the second section was whenever I died, I would jump in a specific direction during the white screen. Which let me keep my light for about 1 second but got me a little further ahead. It really helped

I doubt it, because when I recorded the mini death loop, it clearly shows my skykid just standing there, unlit with no worms around me but I was just standing next to the checkpoint lantern. When my friend came over and lit me, it immediately stopped.

Doesn't feel as fun it was at the start, I'm okay with tgc making it harder but changing the pattern completely and adding too many of those smoke creatures doesn't do much good for the average player

I love it ... It is definitely timing and once you realise the fire tings are going round in a circle youll actually learn they can be defeated... But i understand not everyone feels the same 😘.. I just completed the fire trial with a friend. I spent ages solo on stage two. I finally did it, you must have warp with your friend coz when you lead and get hit by fire ball, usually your friend gets sent back to the start, but she can warp back to you and continue your journey forward

When it hits live .. Each trial will have a gap of weeks so by the time fire comes people will be expecting epic hard and it is... I know after eden winged light etc but it depends on how often you go ... Once a week is perfect for most.. I will be returning daily to get the candles ..... To get your winged light its not so bad .. I love that its not so easy as it used to be .... Im sure thay will make fire a little easier... I think they are trying to find a balance... Common i rekon tgc gets upset when people were saying easy far to easy .. Which people were saying.... Now its too hard just bare with them finding the perfect balance which i think they have except fire is a little bit too hard ...
With a tweak of fire to make it easier i think they have got there agree ? 🤍

Would be interesting to give you a way to feel like you’re standing up to the creatures and not just avoiding them with timing. Like, if it’s about bravery maybe there’s a way to make your light bright enough to withstand them, but it still takes timing and being able to get to the right place.

Finally finished the trial, and I spent more time than I should
started with 50% and now I'm down to 5% battery. In the span of several hours. Yikes ( while the rest took me under 1-2 )
I went in solo, Few areas weren't too much of a breeze, yes, they are challenging. as what I expected. But the last one was an absolute game changer. The difficulty stepped up real quick
It's not only the test of courage now,
it also tested a huge chunk of patience, endurance, determination, fast thinking, and strategy all at once. Never thought I'd actually have to calculate my movements in a short period of time. ||Stress-Inducing|| but probs fun to go with friends and rage together

there are progress wipes and access wipes. beta hasn't had a progress wipe since 2019. access wipes just mean you can't update the app if you don't re-join in the next invite. progress wipe will delete everything and that is still a real possibility (hence the warnings not to get attached to cosmetics) but rhythm, enchantment, and sanctuary items were kept because it was just access wipes

the update posted just before reset today should have fixed the issue of crashing the game when you shout at crabs. if you're still having issues crashing, double check that you're updated to build 154988 and if you are, submit a bug report

Basically just having candy as some kind of currency that would b implemented for the month of October, you could get candy from the daily quest rewards and from friends! and you could use the candy to buy spells that would be limited to the event

I redid hiking grouch as a solo baby moth with 3 flaps on the chinese server and I can say with certainty that the fire trial is still harder
Exotic you get 1.5 candles for each bunch so if you collect after EVERY bunch you grab it'll be a pattern of 1 candle then 2 candles. 6 total candles from the 4 realm bunches

Don’t feel bad about dying Exotic. I find it to come really handy during fire trial because the candles stay lit and you have a easier time navigating. and there are some candles that seem like they’ll kill you 100% but they don’t

Are you referring to the 20/20 counter? If so, those are actually winged lights, you can't enter with less than 20

so I finally went back and read the conversation about the fire trial creatures possible names from yesterday and here's a non exhaustive list so yall can be amused with me: worm on a string, whispers, dark, krill farts, baby krill, swirly suckers, smoke, dark prophet o'rolls, dark fuzzies, sooties, fire boogies, vibe checker, dust bunnies, soot sprites
Also Alex really doesn't like krill farts so I will be incredibly amused if skybot has a command for "don't you mean [insert any other name]" when someone says krill fart

If you're theorizing that certain heights make the fire trial easier, I'm height 1 and was able to solo it
Sometimes the owls just kinda,,, tickled me as they went on so that was nice ◔‿◔

yeah fire trial is more timing the creatures paths. some candles are taller and easier to hide on but you have to be DIRECTLY on the candle and do not move

Azazura you have to light 1-2 candles at a time and be content with dying a lot and nyoming back up the path until you clear their path

yeah I don't think they're in the prophecy main cave. I think the meditation spots teleport you to them so being in a vast emptiness makes sense. especially since when you end it asks if you want to return to the main cave
