For real guys, the devs worked so hard on making the #beta-faq concise and informative. TGC cares so much about community and it really is a privilege to be able to send in feedback and bug-reports. TGC reads our stuff, the least we can do as beta testers is to read theirs stuff too.

Last time there was a beta invite wave, there was so much spill over into genchat that it caused sky discord to actually crash. For the sake of having a stable server for live and beta players alike, mods have been more strict about containing beta talk to their beta channels. It can feel really harsh to be singled out but the mods are trying their best to keep things running smoothly for everyone

The current beta build is the exact same as the Live build, plus a few in-development features. there's not a lot to see or do if you're a returning beta tester. If you're brand new to beta, it's a great opportunity to take this time and play through the game, as you'll be starting over as a moth. Live progress does not transfer over to Beta or vice versa.

Hiya! There’s an android app that I’ve downloaded that shows temperature graphs as well as current temperature. It’s called “gsam battery tracker” and it’s free and also does not require the rooting of your phone. 
I’ve actually been doing CR runs in both live and beta on occasion to compare temperatures and battery performance and compiled comparative reports to send into android beta bug reports.
I’m still working on creating a tutorial and a downloadable spreadsheet for people to input information and send to TGC

You can't accept qr codes, you have to scan them with your camera in beta. It's a bug which is just in beta, so it has less or none priority than other bugs to be fixed.

I can throw some information on why some devices need to wait with Android at least. It is the same reason app updates come out delayed for some devices.
Android app NDK builds for stock Android, which are only a handful of devices. Others have their own OEM 'skin' that causes complications. Google most likely didn't build an adjusted version for your Android release or device yet as.... Surprise, Beta was pretty barren since most people just ride the hype train then leave beta as a barren wasteland for those of us who truly test.
It could also just be Google being Google... Even their beta program has delays. My Play Store beta is two revisions behind my GF's live Play Store on the same device... Go figure.

Anyone on Android, I got beta on 1st wave but it wouldn't let me download. When 2nd wave came out, I cleared by play store data, restarted my phone and then went and downloaded the app and it worked. It wouldn't work right up until the 2nd wave release. So maybe wait for the next wave and try then?

Moth thing: these days if you’re starting out you have to clear realms all the way to valley before the portals to isle/prairie/forest can be active/opened again. I’m pretty sure this is intentional to force moths to progress in the game as well as activate the ability to see Travelling Spirit. That’s why with every TS announcement TGC advises players to have at least completed valley.
This isn’t a bug.

I had to get off and on again several times.
It eventually worked and I went home.

A note you guys: when people do share bugs in here and it’s not just a personal declaration but also a good prompt for other people on different devices/platforms to try and replicate the bug as well. some bugs happen to people on specific devices, it’s helpful to tgc to submit reports so they know who’s being affected
also: shop is empty and has no candle packs because IAP is free for testing purposes. BUT if people could buy an endless supply of candles then people won’t cr and testout the game.

Reading through some of the latest bug reports it seems some new players haven’t even played the Live version, which is potentially a problem. It helps if you are familiar with the game already, when starting to test, since beta is no longer in the development phase. Simple game mechanics such as how to collect regular emotes and doing your first (moth) run in the game should not be a surprise that leads to a bug report.

There’s not a way to do this that will make every single person happy. That’s just the unfortunate truth of it. At the end of the day the main thing to remember is that this is a game and you can still be just as helpful even if you don’t get a beta invite, by reporting bugs and giving feedback for the live version

The thing I most wish we could get across to people is that being a Beta tester is not fun. It truly isn’t. It’s work. You won’t have many friends and you will rarely see the few you do have. Things that require multiple players will be far more challenging in Beta. The 8-person puzzle? Yeah, don’t expect to be able to do that without waiting forever. I have one friend who’s been in three Betas and he’s never been able to do it. Beta is pretty lonely and most people stop playing there long before a round of testing ends.

@minor robin Testing can be fun for us obsessive-compulsive types, but most people aren’t so hardcore geeky or perfectionistic. More seriously, it’s not clear how it works and there’s no ETA for bringing it to live. But once you fill the meter, new players can see a symbol over your head that indicates that you’re friendly and helpful. It is not influenced by giving hearts

@real dock there has been a few lighting 'changes' in the recent updates (mostly noticeable at certain parts in isle and valley) it doesn't seem intended to me as it was never mentioned anywhere in #beta-announcements, regardless you should consider reporting or sending feedback in light of those 'changes' and how it impacted your experience

@wraith steeple there are many factors that could cause a device to heat up a ton.
- lots of people on a map, especially if they are lit up and have cosmetics visible
- spamming of certain emotes
especially ones with tons of lighting effects, fireworks may or may not increase temperature - check your graphic setting, highly rendered stuff/high fps is much more demanding
- your screen’s brightness as well, volume
- also check if there are any apps running in the background, i highly recommend just having sky open and others closed
all these factors are stuff you can include in ur bug report and tgc can use those clues to figureout what’s causing temperature increase

Before new link, Sky Beta disappeared from my TestFlight.
The current Beta version seems to be Ver. 0.10.5 (expires in 86 days)

So I got on in first wave but still have no android access. one of the steps to troubleshooting is to try switching accounts. well I did that and clicked the link to the tester page as I have too many times today, and forgetting I was on a second account, I clicked join. Now I have 2 that don't work. I don't wnt to tke someone's spot, if I forfeit 1 now, will that open a spot for someone in next wave? If not, should I keep both until 1 works and then leave the other? green: there’s lots of different ways to contribute as a beta player. there’s feedback, helping others... and the game does run stats. In a behind-the-scenes art video they showed player drop off increases at forest and wasteland in live. They probably track stuff in beta too

When you get that invite link it'll say you're a tester. You are not safe yet. Make sure you immediately go to the playstore and download the app before telling your friends. If the app says its full you'll need to try again next invite wave.PREVIOUS BETA
If you deleted the app, congratulations you are now a first time beta, read above. If you have the app already you just need to click the invite link to become a tester. Then you need to wait a few hours max for the update to appear in the play store.

Again, Google it's really slow, i got in the program in the first wave (got in at 9:10 of the morning) and I was able to install it at 20:16 so guys, have patience. #beta-bugs-android or #beta-bugs-ios depending on what decive you are, but u need to tell if you're beta or live regardless where ever you begin the bug report. I'm not sure about android, but on iOS you can directly report from the app too if needed.

I have a quick question. Do I need to use a separate account for beta or can I use the same account with everything saved on it? I read some stuff in the beta channels, but still confused about this.

It's been a while since I've replayed from the very beginning so my memory is poor.... is the cutscene when you first open the beta app exclusive to beta? Or is it in live too?
