If there are any changes the devs feel we should know about they’re posted in #beta-announcements , otherwise the most you’ll usually get is “bug fixes and improvements” in the build description. If it’s something like that there can still be overt changes made from our perspective but it’d require you to go through the realms after the build update to see what’s around

For the normal candle you have to collect them by going around the realms like in the live version as long as they don’t put some packs available with the next updates

The only way to download beta is becoming a tester either on Android or iOS, by clicking the links in #beta-signup-info when available, even if it means waiting several days because of a google problem. Downloading any applications from third parties can result in serious data issues, malware and it does nothing to help TGC test the game, as well as may cause problems for yourself as that's against the TOS. That discussion will not be allowed to take place here
And for those that are sadly waiting on the google problem, don’t feel too stressed out about it. Beta isn’t exciting, and there’s nothing really new being tested right now if that’s what you’re looking for. Beta testing is slow, with lots of waiting time and bugs. So just be patient, you’re not missing out on anything and google will hopefully let you in soon

I see a lot of new beta testers reporting the whale call spirits ascended candle lock as a bug, it’s not! The whale call spirit is currently being used to test no cape which is supposed to be really hard to get because you’re not technically supposed to be capeless. The whale call spirits lock and no cape are not required to finish the forest constellation so worry not! It won’t effect your progress! And it’s not a bug!

this whole invite wave was to address the participation in beta. It’s honestly up to the community to participate and play as they wish to. You can look for people and friends in #beta-looking-for-group but honestly, if there’s not much to do or test in beta, it’s fine not to play it as seriously. Save that devotion for live.
remember: beta is for testing. there will be quiet periods, there will be busier periods. that’s just how it is.

2 things I gotta ask/mention so I do it in one go because of 15 minute slowmode. 1 was there an update recently? someone mentioned it to me but my google play store says last update was June 7th. 2 to address few players on beta. I do try to get on daily but I don't go through all the realms every single day. that's a 2ish hour task and if nothing specific is being tested I generally only go candle running if people need me to uber them. take into consideration that progress can be wiped if the devs need to so there's no reason to go for 100% completion in beta. We're here to test not to collect. It will always be much slower when there's nothing specific to test.

All packs expect the starter, founders, and adventure pass packs aren’t available so beta testers don’t just get an infinite amount of free candles and play the actual beta game. The only time a different pack is available is when the devs test one for whatever reason. Repeatedly buying adventure passes is a bug, and the extra seasonal candles will likely be wiped

Generally speaking, spoilers are ok in beta channels, because we need to be able to discuss openly. When Android beta was opened there was a short period where we would spoiler tag certain things out of respect for new players. But this time around I think it's assumed new beta members are all also Live players. (But tbh, I'm not entirely sure, seeing some of the bug reports and questions here.)
If you are unsure if something is a bug, please check the pins and known issues first. Reporting a bug that someone else has reported is fine, because it tells the devs that it may be a bigger issue experienced by many and thus needs prioritising. And you may also be able to contribute more information. You can also periodically check through the bug channels to see if there seems to be something common happening.

@ HayleyLo true, beta is basically just live but with more bugs. OTOH, when I played after a progress reset last year, it was wonderful to be able to see the spirits and their sequences again, or sit and listen to the full music for them (like the song that plays in Prairie Village emote scenes)—and of course the tree in Vault. I hope all the new folks have a chance to slow down and appreciate them, they really bring life to the world we play in

hello !, I have had a constant bug both in beta and in the live game, and I would like to let all my colleagues here know so that I can verify if it is only a separate problem or a constant problem since when reviewing the feedback from bugs I did not see it (at least in my two-day review) I would like to know if they could do a review to the door system since it tends to have many Bugs (possibly due to the number of players that activate it), I will try to describe it briefly : It turns out that the door seems permanently active but in reality it is as if it was frozen and it simply becomes impossible to open it. because at least in my case I have had repeatedly that the doors have frozen both in live and in beta

so, with the new blocking system, the person blocked sees the blocker as a shadow, but can also see their shadow in the friend constellation. They can no longer light you, and there is something weird going on with the chat. They cant see it, but they also cant see the dots like when a stranger types.

Every build lasts 90 days, so every time you update the game to test it it’ll go back to 90 days

In-game support has a much wider reach. We understand that is frustrating for players, but we have to have the staff in place to support other languages.

I know there’s YouTube videos about how blocking works so you could try searching one up to see the live system. I don’t know what it looks like cause I’ve never encountered anyone I blocked and I haven’t tested it yet. I’m pretty sure your friend can’t see you blocked them. Okayy, so before going to wasteland i remember clearly my candles were 51. After saving all spirits in wasteland (6 in total), and also after burning all dark plants, i only managed to get 6 candles when i pressed the red dot at my candle meter...
While it actually should be more than 6 as the ordinary candle harvesting at wasteland would gives us 3 candles right? Should i launch a report for this? 😅

Someone had asked about what the blocking feature looked like- I just tested it out and when someone has blocked you their avatar now shows up gray in constellation when you click on the name so that’s a pretty clear giveaway. Beyond that it’s hard to tell whether you’ve been blocked unless you’re both in the same place. Then chat doesn’t work at tables/it’s impossible to light their candle to see them. That’s the only things that I didn’t see in the patchnotes- I think the biggest thing for me was the constellation aspect.

@minor robin Yeah the gray in constellation is what occurs after refreshing as far as I can tell. In other words, immediately after someone blocks you you can still see their avatar. As soon as the game is refreshed/you leave and come back is when the person appears gray both as avatar and in constellation.
Another interesting aspect which I’m not sure is intentional- as the person who has been blocked I can still send hearts to the person who has blocked me but not vice versa. The person who blocked me can’t see that a heart has been sent until they unblock.

I've never had much of a reason to block anybody. Maybe I'm just lucky & haven't friended any really annoying people. I only ever thought about it to clear my friend list up in live but thought maybe TGC would come up with a better way to do that (guess not)

I got blocked by a person in live and Im POSITIVE its just cause they wanted to clean up their list. Cause I think I only ever interacted with them once when we first became friends. But it really kinda made me mad that they blocked me. It was back when I didn't have a ton of friends and I had been lighting their star every day. Then one day it just wouldn't stay lit. So I thought something was broken. Found out it was prolly cause they blocked me, And I was like what the hell? Was my lonely little star that unworthy.

HAHAHAHA yes at home if I open my friend's constellation, I can see myself listed as Shepherd in the icon top right corner. And similarly I have not seen other Shepherd icons. Only the basic heart in diamond.

I don't see a next level to Shepherd. BUT I have seen on the announcement page there is a promotions announced. Some to Shepherd and once I saw a promotion to Sky Elder. However I am not sure if it is part of beta yet.

Interestingly, I know of a player who has blocked me both in beta and Live. In Live they are now a shadow when I bring them down from the constellation, but in beta I can see their outfit. I assume this is because they are just not in beta anymore and haven't updated to this latest patch.

TBH I also wonder if giving everyone the answers in this genchat immediately like a q&h channel also hurts the authenticity of their experience. I’ve told a person before: if you cannot figure out how to use beta’s ingame translator then that’s definitely something to give feedback on as a new player. Pretend you only have access to the game as it is, no support from discord/friends/help boards. Cause providing feedback like this will only further improve the game’s design and its intuitiveness

I agree that it seems like the most relevant bugs/oddities could perhaps be equal in number to already established ones. though, like the others said, I think things like the new season would almost certainly benefit from testing with newer players, since those who have already played another season might overlook things that are too vague or hard to understand

Beta is almost always empty cause there aren’t that many testers.
Anne, there are two kinds of wipes, an access and progress wipe. An access wipe will only revoke your access to update and/or redownload the beta app. If someone who was playing before gets back in, their progress remains. A progress wipe will erase the progress made on accounts, like currency, friends, cosmetics, etc. What they did before these invite waves was only an access wipe, they’d make a lot of announcements of a progress wipe well before it happens.

If you are talking about the seasonal candles you obtained through purchasing preorder passes endlessly, then they will likely get wiped before the next season testing starts. If it didn't, then you can use them during next season, and the rest will be converted to normal candles when the season ends. But sometimes the conversion doesn't work properly in beta so we know nothing for sure

It baffles me to see how many new beta players already obtained the shepherd role in the game. When it was first introduced it seemed to me that people would take a lot longer to obtain it
@vapid drum The meter seems to fill up pretty quick: befriended players, lit up players, led in maps, sent heart and light. These actions seem to contribute to meter filling up to Shepherd pretty quick (I only played 3 days in beta so far). I wonder if the meter is moving in one direction only?

I only have skipped beta once for a period of 3 weeks , and that was during my holiday. After checking beta again , I didn’t have the sheperd status anymore. When it was first introduced , me and a lot of friends received the sheperd status immediately while others had to play several weeks before it filled up 🤷♂️

Friend invite (QR code) links do not work correctly on beta. You will need to open the link on a separate screen and scan the actual QR code instead of importing the link. This feature works correctly on Live and is a low priority beta-only bug.

Why is everyone so rabid to join beta?
- It's just the same as live except now you test for small fixes like hey " does the new block player function work?" ( it does TCG by the way it works really well👏)
- No the beta account will never be connected to your live account) so you
3 cant have your live progress crossed over. - You do start all over as a moth
- You cant take the new things you tested in beta to your live account (because the things might not work)
- No a third party app is not supported by TCG so you wont get to test the updates. So what's the point

Pre-iOS testing was literally part of the development of the game as we see it today. Hence the beta cape as a reward for the hard work put in by all. Android beta was for compatibility checking, which obviously is also hugely important, but not quite the same thing.

Snowy, seasonal candles convert 1:1, but it's unlikely the ones people got from the glitched shop will be converted.

roxie, not that it's any of my business why you joined, but I believe TGC were hoping for active testers this time, hence the access wipe. So I think they would appreciate you playing during season testing. There is no pressure to grind or get lots of cosmetics in beta. Play the way you normally would, or maybe even take it slower and try to find any persistent bugs to report.
