Yeah once the rush of new season testing dies down, it’s really difficult to complete any quest that requires other people in beta. It sort of swings wildly between 2 or so weeks of life and the rest of the time is a ghost town.

Some mysterious ranking of how friendly you are @lapis girder, it’s pretty up in the air [about what is needed to do to get it] so we don’t really know how it works aside that you’ll apparently have a badge on top of your head for new players to light, indicating you are a shepherd. And new players have a symbol as well to indicate they are new when you light them up.

Hey I have a great idea for the shepherd badge badge function. You have to Shepard say 10 newbies to get it and then once you have you can chat to the newbies if they are holding your hand and then the chat goes away after they get their first 20- 30 wing stars meaning you can go on your way and they are comfortable with game ins and outs. I have found my campfire most useful with moths and getting them through. Even if they are Chinese or Japanese.

You and newbie can choose to keep chat in usual way if you wish to spend the candles

@prime belfry they´ve changed the lighting. There is less or none GI (global illumination), so dark areas don´t get the reflected light the used to get before, hence they are darker (almost black) now.

Well, GI is quite demanding so it might be a design choice to boost performance. I think they might be testing it right now.
Here is an example of how it works. On the right, the sand reflects the light it receives so the body gets a yellowish hue it wouldn´t have without GI.

yes, beta is for testing and tweaking, so don't anyone get too precious about your stuffs or your progresses

the rules can change at any moment, sometimes due to feedback here, sometimes due to player behaviors observed, sometimes just to test some new mechanic.

I don't really put too much effort into collecting anything anymore in beta, unless there is a specific reason for us to do so. For seasons and maybe the travelling spirit it's good if we can collect most of the things, but generally beta is for testing that everything is running smoothly before it is pushed to Live.

Perhaps this wasn't communicated clearly enough? Beta has been running for so long that many of us forget to mention it to newcomers and TGC probably does too.

tl;dr Things come and go. It's the nature of life (and this game).

in valley maze, you can skip to the next room by sticking to the wall, you need more than one person to pull it off

It all depends on beta testing. If all goes well then that’s the date to aim for. If there are persistent problems it could be pushed back. Anything in beta (including beta patch notes) are subject to change without notice so we just have to wait!

hi @sand dawn I saw that you mentioned an alternative route for the Wasteland spirit, where sera and I suggested making the plants permanent. Could you explain in more detail where this is? To the best of my knowledge I never found one, even when there was a hole in the rock straight ahead (underneath the butterflies).

@sand dawn My point was that there isn't an alternative way unless you are very skilled, which would exclude a lot of players. And even for people like us it isn't an easy thing to do. That particular quest is perhaps one of the easier ones, compared to the previous Wasteland ones. But having the random element of those platforms not being there when you are on the last node just seems cruel to me.

I was there earlier and jumped around on the side towards battlefield: you can get fairly high up by skipping, but there is a point where you must rise and that's when you usually lose the orb.

The way the quests are design, any fast movement such as a slide or run forward, or rising upwards/flying, means you lose the orb.
