@vapid drum I think part of the problem with aviary was it was too resource intensive. They removed it. Didn’t just hide it away. Although if you do ever find something hidden away let us know immediately. I want to see! SkyLOL

Effectively Aviary is deleted yes, but it could indeed also be hidden as that particular space is nowhere near in-bounds or in oobs due to what it was and how it functioned.
They did say they want to bring it back, and that they do plan to, but most likely not in the form of Aviary we know from beta / limited. pSkyPeek

My thinking, the real purpose of the shepard meter is an overhaul of the matchmaking system.

#

Think of the meter as 0-100, 0=new 100=full shepard. Instead of semi-random matchmaking simply based on friends and distance, think of it in terms of creating an "ideal server". A mix of experienced and new players with the goal being an average of 50 for any particular server.

#

The more I'm thinking of the math, the more I'm liking this theory.

#

Say you (80) and a friend (95) enter a level, a new instance would be created.
-You wouldn't be added to an existing instance because that would skew the average too high

#

The server would then look out for players with low scores to add to your instance

#

Low scores also = low friend count which also = less overlapping friend conficts

#

Another friend enters level (70). Pairing friends more important than Shepard score, would join your instance...

#

Could go on, but in summation: More stability, less friend cut-outs, more diversity of players per instance.

@fleet hinge if you mean go global on Android then we don’t really know. Currently it’s out in limited live in Singapore and Japan. So they’re getting closer and closer to it’s release. There’s lots of devices to optimize for and that takes time unfortunately SkyHug

The shepherd status is so far only in beta, it’s a ranking of how friendly you are according to the games tooltip. As for how you get it it’s not entirely clear but I’ve found its triggerd by lightning people up. Take it with a grain of salt though @left sparrow

I’m kind of new on the beta and I’ve tried many times to get to the dog area in the daylight prairie but I can’t, it doesn’t let me light the plates (idk how they are called haha) it seem the 8 plates are already on but the base doesn’t move. problem is that in Beta, when not testing seasons or anything else it’s mostly a ghost town thus the server never fills up. On the other hand in live sitting there for 2-8 minutes is enough time for the instance to be full

Hey Guys, I agree it has snowballed, and consent is indeed a huge part of interaction (here and especially IRL) however there was a whole conversation that implied more than just someone helping out a perceived Newbie. I try to help others when I can, but I don't claim it's my job 🙂 I 'm also ok with the sorry-no's (Heck, I've used them myself) ...it was the second conversation that struck me as off ... why didn't I like the Founder's Cape, how come I could talk to them as I was a beginner etc. Just really weird but I don't think weird deserves being reported? So sorry if I sparked something off, especially if it is a misunderstanding!

Time and again, rumors spread in the Live version... Ever since I realized that the black cape being removed was a lie (ended up overspending and stressing over it; it was my third cape after red and yellow!), I figured rumors in the game are far more unreliable than irl rumors.

So, and I ask, is Winter Season being tested in beta already? I didn’t read anything about it in the updates channel. Someone said it was to be tested due December 2019.

Generally, any big testing periods would be announced in the #beta-announcements also. TGC posts there when a new patch is out and especially if there is a new season coming up to be tested.

@rigid rune The initial global live release was months ago. Android has also been released live in a couple countries.
Beta is used to test the game and updates before things are implemented in the live version.

I played the old Mac beta and the controls were terrible. You had to use WASD and space bar to move around. Very clunky. But with controller support I think it would be great!

If she just deleted the app (from the phone’s homescreen) she should be able to reinstall it without problem from TestFlight, just like updating. Make sure she’s logged on the right iCloud account she’s a tester on

@vapid drum I use the device but usually play at Default Mode or High Performance (60fps) mode. Now I am trying High Def mode (3 lightnings), things afar seem to disappear and reappear when the camera moves, only at this High Def mode SkyThink Is this the glitch you have?

Done, @dry pivot do you experience an extreme battery use too when playing in the 2nd high def mode. I can see my battery go down while playing. Haven’t got this iPad very long so I don’t know what to expect of the battery use. I can play for about 4 hours while on my iPhone pro i can easily get 7 hours

the second mode (⚡:zap:) is not the same mode if your iPhone has no third mode available

⚡ ⚡ is 60 fps on iPad pro 2018 so it should consume battery faster than default mode but i am not sure how fast it is because i don't check the battery often

actually the one thing i noticed is that I cannot trust what the buttery icon of my iPad says. it says 100% left even after i watched an hour long movie without charging

I play on Ipad Pro (10.5-inch) and never even used anything beyond one⚡️ it looks good to me and doesn’t eat my battery to quickly
on phone I play on the lowest setting, as on phone even just one ⚡️ eats battery to quick and heats it up too much.

What I have noticed though, and I wonder if anyone else does too..

On Ipad dark places are pitch black, whereas on my phone I can see perfectly fine in the same place, with the same brightness setting.

This has been a big issue navigating the worlds when I was new, but now the only places I still occasionally struggle is to find the entrance to ||office|| and navigating the last section of wasteland.

@sand dawn the problem with certain areas being pitch black seems to be connected to device type. I had that problem all. the. time on my iPad mini 2, but not on my iPad 6th gen (nor on my iPhone 6 Plus, I think).

I just recalled I also have issues with the ship area in wasteland and of course..
||Seeing the rocks in eden..!|| but I found a workaround for that, I resort to using classic invert colors as a kind of nightvision mode

Apple did, and still, has an issue with HDR. Take the iPhone 11, every model has a P3 compatible display. An HDR format. Only the Pro and the Pro Max have the brightness necessary to truly output HDR content. The 11 has a HDR compatible display color wise.

Apps and games, like Sky, with HDR compatibility, checks with the hardware, sees "Oh! P3 compatible display? Ok, we'll use HDR." While the the device isn't physically HDR compatible, just XDR compatible.

It's somewhere inbetween "Apple's (and many other phone makers) trying to hide the fact their devices aren't actually HDR compatible" and "The HDR-branded ecosystem is a mess in general, currently"

I haven’t had any problems with the dark areas anymore since the game went live. It used to be really bad when the game was still in beta only ( and soft ). Up to the point where you had to navigate by feeling in eden 😭 just hoping that you timed your moves right

might be having download issues, but it's hard to identify without a more detailed account from those players.

there's some underlying wonkiness with chat and tables not working as intended, the last build addressed some of it, but some new shenanigans cropped up. I think the next build has more fixes involved for both of these issues, but I don't have an ETA of when that'll be just yet. The download issue, usually requires a full reinstall to correct whatever is causing the hangup, but be sure to link your account and screenshot your sky ID before doing so.

A chromebook isn't a phone or tablet. There isn't a PC version, so what you'd be downloading is a web-based or emulated version and that's not compatible with Sky.

I saw an opening cutscene, seasonal constellation, seasonal quest giver, and a seasonal candle bundle in the vault entrance (which was kinda weird because we have prairie quests)

The entire issue is with their little "GPURating" script

Used to either put out a 0, when it wasn't really working, or an actual number, when it was actually recently working.
