iOS beta is ongoing, but right now our needs from iOS testers are being met so we haven't opened up new slots since September. Our primary focus is getting Android ready for global release so that's why we've been gradually increasing the size of the Android test group recently.

There is a cutscene, but I think we changed it so you talk to grandma to trigger it instead of it starting when you log in. The narrative is a little different this season since things take place in Forest instead of Home.

I was online during the season end reset, grandma disappeared and regular quest giver appeared, I don't remember if the season end splash-screen appeared (sorry), and my seasonal candles started converting into regular candles immediately. If there was supposed to be a cut scene, or other flair, it didn't appear. Felt like a normal reset apart from the candles. Android, and I hadn't unlocked the campfire

Now that the season's over, what areas you think are best to include in candle runs?

Actually, which level in general has the best light/minute ratio?

i was timing my runs in wasteland and forest, and i still have too do valley some time when i feel like it.

Forest usually nets me around 2.5-3 candles and Wasteland about the same.

both areas took me about 15-16 minutes, however that is also considering I skipped one of the waste's big plants.

actually I'm gonna time valley right now because i don't have an estimate of it's time

I have seen someone counted wax and timed their runs, and they found that the ratio was the best in the valley (besides Home).
Forest and Prairie were the second bests but Prairie won't be that good in beta

@vapid drum Yeah, it looks like your red dot is on the gear and home icon, which usually means you need to click on something in one of your Home constellations, like a gift from a friend. Make sure you’ve collected all gifts and clicked on any new emote spirits you’ve gotten and see if the red dot goes away!

Okay so. I went through vault’s updated area and I love how it looks for a very specific reason😂 I started making a sky inspired story where one part of it involved a sky child that was left behind in wasteland needed to find a way into the skies. And his way involved breaking into a very deep, abandoned part of vault. Seeing it all broken and crumbly made me really happy cause it reminded me of that😂

make sure you have picked up all your hearts/gifts of light from the friendship constellation. also check if you have an instrument with a new music sheet. you'll need to equip an instrument to access the music sheets. if you still have a red dot after checking those two things please submit a bug in #beta-bugs-ios or #beta-bugs-android by clicking the reaction.

If you have a red dot by your wing wedges, it’s probably an emote or music sheet you need to use. If the red dot is by the gear icon in the upper right corner, then you probably have a gift from a friend you haven’t accepted yet. The dot by the gear icon can also indicate a message from tgc (especially if you submitted an in-game bug report through the “contact us” feature)

I'm just trying to figure out their screenshot method. It outputs 2880x1440 (native res) pictures from the game, but it feels too seemless to be a full-scale resolution change.

Default res on Android is coming out as 976x480, while presentation/high-def is 1152x576

Those aren't standard resolutions, and they're configured to my specific screen ratio of 2x1

Those aren't coming from say a standard iPhone res that they're resampling into a 2x1 ratio...

Oy vey, even trying to figure out something as simple as their target resolution is giving me a headache

The whole app is inside a 5760x5760 container layer, a buffer layer of 2880x1440, rendered at 1152x576 and resampled to fill said buffer... and then somehow comes out without being streched or letterboxed at all!
And that's just one phone!

My condolences to TGC's tech director. She/He's having to come up with some voodoo witchcraft to get this thing even displaying on an Android screen

generally the phone is supposed to protect itself from overheating, but repeated fast temperature swings still can lead to trouble, so I'd be careful with it

iPhone 6 is a too old device so it might not be able to give you a decent Sky experience. Noticeable frame drop and sign of overheating within 30 mins of playing is also happening on iPhone SE, which has lower resolution and more powerful processor than iPhone 6

Yup. I liked that too. And the necessity of using emotes to communicate. I still have to find benches or stuff like that to have a conversation then get a QR code, so it's still an adventure to get to that. I also love the ability to not have everyone talking and seeing every conversation. Much less crowded than most games.

What's your experience been like with the auditory aspects of Sky? This game is loaded with music, sfx, honks; Each important as both game mechanic and ear-candy.

What's your end experience with the sound of Sky? Headphones or phone speaker? What would improve the audible experience of Sky for you?

As to the question of the week (nice initiative!): I usually play with sound on, but very rarely use headphones. Mostly headphones are for Eden or when practising music.
I love the little details like how our steps sound different on different ground, the blips and blops of actions, most of the music.
Not sure if there is anything I would like to improve.

The sfx for footsteps on metal(?) (like on rooftops or ||metal plates in eden||) reminds me of the game Vane. ||actually that area in Eden with the metal walkways reminds me of the "city" level in Vane, similar colour scheme too. I loooove both.||
The sfx for footsteps in ||orbit|| reminds me of the bgm in the game ABZÛ when ||the diver walks on land.||

About Sound:
Generally, I think the sound is very nice, especially the sounds of flying and stuff whooshing past the camera, so nice!

I really dislike loud sounds, so I am happy about the new SFX for the fireworks staff.

But then there is the new music when you open the game, loud, reminds me of Valley of Triumph, I dislike it.
The music during the races in Valley of Triumph is very loud and I know several players that dislike it and will do things like turning off the sound, playing their own music or activate a music sheet, all to avoid that loud music.

Valley without music is much better.

And then there are the bells at home..
I hate those with a passion! 🔕🔕🔕

Most of the music sheets don’t sound like much when playing alone.
Worse, often the instrument and the music sheet background will not be in a matching key!

But some of the music sheets are just the best...
I am in love with music sheet 7 (gratitude) and music sheet 10 (lightseekers)

Not all places that should have an echo have it.
There is no echo in most caves in the desert at Isle of Dawn, only the desert cave with the spirit, the temple and the new place right of it have echo.
No echo in the cave left of the temple, the lightseekers cave or the little cave with the winged light.
