I’m pretty sure that within the beta, friend lists will stay the same. We don’t know for sure if friend levels will stay the same though. The first time they reset the beta they put friend levels back to 0 in order to test the economy; the second (most recent) reset they didn’t mess with friend levels

Its perhaps even hinted at ingame by the fact that even if you have the max 108 stars theres still a message saying the next wing cape wedge level is at 120 stars!

This is a beautiful game but candle grinding is tedious and ubering noobs (while fun to watch their excitement) only provides so much satisfaction. With each update it seems like they lock/block more and more of the oob, so exploring oob isn’t sustainable gameplay. With all that in mind it’s not unreasonable to wonder what the gamerunners plan to do to keep people’s interest.

Game play has completely changed for me since I started upgrading friendships and chatting. I used to happily solo through every day on the candle run, but being pulled through in a group, with chatter and someone playing music and silly shenanigans occurring, well, I don’t want to solo any more. I jump into a level, do a little bit, get bored and return home. Friends are carrying the game for me now.

hearing that is really unfortunate. perhaps you just need to find more things to keep you in that are already there. i don't know if you guys have played since before the global launch so maybe you have more experience so to speak, but the game never gets old for me. i almost always run through levels solo for dailies which is fine for me. then i might help another friend through levels or play music or even just chatting and spamming emotes with people is so heartwarming and fulfulling for me. then you have the daily quests and working toward finishing constellations. i honestly think i could never get tired of sky.

I would say the friend gifts may seem expensive because they are worth a lot! And our friends are worth all the effort it takes to give them.

The upper level ones are indeed expensive, but the core interactions aren’t really so prohibitive—like high five, perhaps hug. And there are a lot of ways to interact just through using emotes together, or playing songs to/with each other
(Thinking about how much more expensive warp is now than it used to be—as a player that kinda sucks, but considering how powerful it is, I can’t help but agree that its place is way at the top of the friend tree ^^)

@woeful lodge , friendship costs have been through a few iterations. I think the way they are now probably works best for how large the community has become. Back in early beta, the community was smaller and more close-knit. So, there was a lot of trust. Nowadays it's probably better to not take friendships too seriously. An element of commercialism has perhaps entered the game, making friendships more about the monetary value (=hearts). Even if you upgrade and invest in someone you thought was a friend, you can still end up getting blocked for no apparent reason. In essence, we're all strangers to one another and it's probably unwise to put that much emotional labour into what is literally fancy pixels on a screen. Value the playtime you have with someone in that moment, but don't expect it to last forever. Lol, I sound a little bitter, but really, I'm not. I just try to be a realist. After all, we can do some pretty amazing things all for free, even if it takes a bit of farming.

Seriously though, both approaches are useful and appreciated equally. The important factor for us is that people continue to play on Beta so that we have data to examine. I know the allure of Beta is being first to see what's new, and once the new shinies wear off it's not as enticing to keep playing. One of the goals of having beta testing in the first place is increasing exposure to potential bugs that may not come up during internal testing so that we can identify and fix them before they are released to the greater audience.

This is why it's so important to read the patch notes (at least if there are extensive ones, lol!); you already have a set of things to bug test there. Unfortunately, some things may be almost impossible to test because there are fewer players in beta. This was the case with the server merges/disconnections when entering new areas (or sometimes even within the same area), because we just couldn't stress test the beta servers that way.

I do agree that people can be annoying/distracting when you're trying to use the constellation menu. im not sure what a good solution would be as people could harass you anywhere at Home... I almost wish you just didnt see them or get affected by them at all, but its also good to know when your friend is standing there trying to get your attention 😂

I have a hard time with the regular menu.. it never ends up where i want it to if i swipe, but the arrows are so impossibly tiny i constantly miss them and click off the menu and it closes.. (and im on an ipad) so I like it.

Yeah if you have more favorited friends than fit in the crown, they get pushed elsewhere anyway, and you have to look through all the pages

I like this new button too because I would rather the default constellation view be the favorites. It's funny because it only takes maybe 3 seconds to scroll over to favorites, but still it's one of those little annoyances.

I think my only real problem with the friend stars, is being rotated away from the page of stars (constellation?) you’re on when you’re done interacting with a friend. (sending them a heart, lighting their candle, etc.) This is mainly due to the which way your sky kid is facing after interacting with the friend. So having to scroll through the constellations after lighting a friend’s candle every time can becomes really annoying. Fix that problem, and I’m fine..

I was fine with the button until I discovered that I can't look towards the friend constellation and press the normal button anymore, it rotates me away from the friend constellations. So now I really don't like it, I always go from one side to the other, so to have the friend button take you to the middle page is annoying. I want to be able to look at whichever friend constellation page I want right when I click, I don't like that it forces you to either look at the middle one or look at the regular constellations to the sides

I like the function of the button, it’s nice to get straight to the friends constellation, but yeah, I’m not keen on the button itself. I tend to panic smash when I’m in a hurry and I just know I’ll hit the wrong one sometimes which will annoy me and delay me. 😅

There are several times where I heard a player did a realistic bird/manta call, like the ones in the over world
It's not the usually 'beep' calls regular players make. Apparently I'm not the only one that heard this before, so are these different calls a beta player only thing like the winter emotes?

My personal favourite are the sound of footsteps on snow and ice I wouldn’t mind feeling a little rumble when sliding over it). The different animal calls are great too.

@hybrid wedge I’m actually feeling hopeful that the pumpkin hair will be a gift on halloween day for all players that login. In part because of where they added the hair slot. It’s one slot ahead of the default newbie hair, which is free. Honestly as long as the hair makes its way into the game somehow, I’ll be happy. It’s so cute! It could be the start of a small tradition where for Halloween, Christmas and other major international holidays each hear the sky community get a themed accessory from the devs as a way to celebrate

The reason there isn't a beta suggestions is that it's assumed a lot of beta content makes its way to live, so the live suggestions channel is the single source TGC wants to review.

@halcyon meadow You can do both at the same time. I won't say you "should" do either or both, cause it's really up to you and your mother. If you can use her iPad whenever you want, then you don't have to wait and you can start playing live version of Sky now, and probably you'll be able to sync your progress with your Android device when Android Sky go live.

The patch notes says “added friendship button to quickly access to friendship menu in home.” I don’t think the hug symbol is the friendship button, since why would they put two buttons to access the friend stars, and one that already means “hug” too? I feel like it should be a different symbol, and located where there wasn’t already a shortcut.
