I got the forest seasonal! I was struggling. Someone else went and got it and lead it beautifully all the way to the end. Took three attempts and several waited very patiently towards the end to jump in and claim it. Phew! Well done that player!

Oh. My husband is doing beta. He hadn’t collected the isle seasonal yet. He’s just gone to get it and the gate is locked. He needs all 5 of the other seasonal spirits in order to unlock it! 😮

They did send out iOS beta links over newsletter at one point but obviously there are too many people waiting to join using that method so they’ve been announcing that iOS beta will only be shared here and on the beta Facebook group. They’re still using the newsletter for other betas that’s not iOS such as android, MacOS, etc.

Beta gets content updates sooner and is very unstable, the differences between beta and live rn is the new season that will be coming to live soon and crashing every 5 minutes

Coming from the people who made Journey, the chirping simulator, it's not unbelievable that you can play without chatting.

It's a big aspect of how game design is done well, because if you need to discuss strategy it might lose out on a lot of things happening, the flow might stop and it might be too complex for it's own good.

Less is more.

In my opinion it's very fun to chirp along and use emotes to have small talk with players. I don't need to hear a life story each time I meet someone. A chirp for me does the trick, as I'm a fan of saying less. (despite how much I type)

I can’t tell you which you should think it is, but the inverse is also true. Given how many people, and how many different people there are in the game, expecting constant return gifting is a mindset that will more often lead to dissatisfaction.

This topic is kinda confusing for my smol brain. So the discussion is about hearts, right? Like if it’s fair that their hard to get cause that’s the point or it’s not fair because it doesn’t always work out... fairly?...

I just give away all the candles I earn. I just now, got the white cape for 50 hearts. All I've done is just meet people, chat with someone who had a table, I've added three people from here and talk to only one, the rest are friendships ingame where I just keep giving people hearts and eventually they give me one back. I don't give to those who repeatedly don't give anything back, so I'm discerning about who I keep gifting to.

You can't get without giving, so why keep my candles. If you're nice ingame people will give you back. You don't need to force it. Just play the game. Mess around.

It's taken me like.. a week or two to get the cape?

I haven't paid attention to the amount I've gotten each day. I've just played a bit each day basically.

I think the complicating factor with hearts is that human behavior is part of it, and you can’t always expect people to act the same way all the time. A human needs to decide whether to send a heart. You can’t force it. And so the outcome will vary.

I’ve got 6 friends who trade hearts with daily or when they can, sometimes when another friend gift me hearts I just don’t have the spare candles to return.

To some extent that’s life. To some extent the game environment can influence a person to nudge them towards a certain choice. Or force them. Nudging is way more fun than forcing though.
