Limited Live, however, was out before our global launch. Were you playing on that version?

So take time and make good friends that you play with regularly

I remember seeing Sky announced as being in production a few years ago and that there would be a beta. I tried so hard to get in but didn’t, so for the next two years I kept looking around for it now and then.
Then I got into the beta around the time limited release became available, and I remember emailing them for if Norway would be getting the limited release, as that’s where I live(App Store limitations). Man I played so much and slept so little 
It’s been such an experience to see how the game has been shaped over the years. Can’t wait to see how they shape the story onwards

it's actually not true that you needed to finish forest before global launch!! i joined the beta on july 17 and i finished forest the day the update was posted (July 29 or maybe even July 30). i received the cape but i didnt deserve it. i will try to be helpful during future beta testing to make up for this. feel a little guilty but i was also very happy

@rugged dawn the beta tests updates before they get to live and we report any bugs we encounter, like live players do, but that doesn’t mean all of them will necessarily be fixed before it’s released. TGC is a small indie company and they keep track of the bugs we report and prioritize the most important ones, and they are working to get all the bugs fixed eventually ^^

Adding clues and puzzles for depth and further world building can be a very big clue for mmo games like Sky, while I don’t think anyone is dumb for not adding things like this, I do feel it should be a priority to work on the world they’re inhabiting, as while players figure out the world, they inevitable find the hidden pages and unless the world has enough depth the endgame quickly gets stale
For a repetitive game world such as sky’s, even though there are daily quests, it does become stale. The player will want to seek out “more” and if you reward the curious, you end up with situations like Oreo. Something that isn’t easily attainable, that gives an actual sense of achievement.
That’s the next challenge imo. They have a game that works and isn’t too broken. It’s a really intriguing world where you can fly and reach higher places. Adding a vertical aspect of exploration should imo be at the top of their list

Because if they don’t, players will just want to speedrun the daily quests and candle anyways and if that’s the only endgame “technically”, then that’s not that much of an endgame
A lot of games fail that aspect actually, things to just “do” like playing music and emoting with your ingame friends. It’s great that those are there in sky, but that also does get a bit stale

A couple things to know about the beta is that (1) it’s for testing and feedback purposes, so you’re expected to do both regularly, and (2) everyone’s progress can be reset anytime by TGC as needed.

Maybe I’m slightly out of touch, but I don’t know many games that care about and listen to their players’ feedback, which is why I find Sky team so great. The game is already great, but I have a feeling that it’s only gonna get better because of the beta-testers.

The only thing that bothers me right now is how you immediately stop falling down when you try to move forward in hover mode.
It's like the physics you expect are thrown out the window in that very instance and you get this massive disconnect from falling down, because you assume you will slow slightly while now moving forward, but instead you stop falling and hover forward at a slow, static speed.
It's kind of jarring. If you try it in the Valley of Triumph Citadel the wind makes it almost impossible to land unless you stop moving, while in hover mode.

I like the current flying power/mechanics, but I have never stopped missing the old flight controls. The flight button on the screen is so finicky and hard to consistently tap on without looking.

I only recently realized I've mastered the "fly across the map on one cape charge" mechanic, which is something though.
I was getting the winged light on the Wasteland building in the last area and remembered when I first played thinking, "Oh gosh, how will I ever get that?"

I didn’t have a problem landing with the old controls. It helped that you were never forced into open- or closed-wing, so if I wanted to land on my feet I could flick down to easily go into hover/closed-wing mode and then use the d-pad to aim more precisely. There was less momentum or variation in momentum depending on location, too, so it was easier to calculate instead of mysteriously falling for no apparent reason like near the star kid platform at the Forest entrance, or drifting really far like in a lot of other places.

I think the flying mechanics are wonderful now, I really like the precision we have. But I also realize I have tiny hands playing on a iPhone screen with two-handed mode, I can’t imagine the hassle of clicking that tiny button on an iPad screen using one-handed mode

I get having drafts in different areas. Birds deal with them so why not Sky kids? The ones in the Butterfly Fields and Nest and Villages in Prairie make sense to me, and the ones in Citadel, for example. But the one in the entrance of Forest hasn’t felt as natural to me. It just feels like an area where the flight controls go wompy.

I’ve learned to just fly over it and be quick to tap the icon when it appears because the automatic mode switching combined with extra momentum and the slipperiness is impossible for me

Oh, the Vault kid! Not as hard as the Cave kid way up high or the one in the shipwreck area. But the latter is mostly difficult because there is little to no contrast, so it’s hard to aim correctly.
I find I have mostly learnt each area’s “rhythm” when it comes to how far I get on one flap.

@hollow compass Maybe you have figured this out too, but everything clicked into place in soaring mode when I realized you only start to lose air when your cape stops leaving a trail.
