You need to go to one of the red shards once it's landed in the realm (today it's in Prairie Cave), burn the darkness and then complete the creature event, at the end the season guide should appear and you can meditate to view a memory and complete the quest

It's every 2 hours not every hour, and the time it lands has some variance. So far it seems to be any time between xx:00 and xx:30 starting the hour after reset. They stay for about 50 minutes once they've landed

Feel a lil weird to barge in with my opinion but whilst the game isn't pay 2 win, majority of the cosmetics are, in a way. And cosmetics is the main content of the game, if not the only one at this point. Seasons and events are content but they bring nothing gameplay wise, just.. cosmetics and a tiny bit of lore. The game extremely lacks in playable content, it's just a ton of cosmetics that often out weigh the 'free' cosmetics, both look, amount and price wise. They've gotten somewhat better with that recently but the past 2 years was something, and shattering is.. something as well imo. The whole world is (almost) free I agree, which is great but, yknow, it's nothing if there's barely any content. Just wanted to drop that

There aren't spirits for this season like there usually are, instead there are some ancient memory fragments that manifest as orange and blue lights, you can reach them by tapping on the season guide at home and teleporting to the void room at the bottom of the tree

Alternatively, there is also a teleport option in the seasonal constellation between Forest and Valley

The specific shards can give more or less AC based on how difficult they are. This one only gives 2 because it's super easy. Also you can only get candles from each shard event once per day

Basically the hour that grandma doesn't show up for you

If wax events happen for you during even hours, it'll be on an odd hour, and vice-versa

I've had issues with plants not burning due to server merges, and I friended a moth before reset in forest that I was having difficulty getting re-lit because of the rain. I don't know if your player you were trying to relight had the rain stopped or not, but if not then that would add another layer of difficulty to re-light them.
