Here's my fav trick when it comes to saving the mantas ;
When you exit from sunny forest, immediately go to the manta, holding out your candle. As long as your candle touches the plant till it starts the burning animation, even if server merge, it should count for you.
It works for me several times. Good luck

To get the 4 daily quests (and the 4 seasonal candles once you've finished them) from the quest giver (the rose), you need to be standing far enough away to see the '!' button over the quest giver, not the button. Also, there are 4 seasonal candle clusters in the first area of the realm with the daily quests that each give you a quarter candle, so you can get a candle from those
