See- the first time I went through the trial, it was absolutely miserable, got to like checkpoint 10 and couldn’t do it anymore. Second time though, it took me about 30 minutes, I nyoomed through it. I hadn’t even realized the difficult parts I’d gone through before

the piggyback friendship node really helps since you dont lose light when youre away from the candles (but you can still get beaned by the wormy bois), and sometimes if they get too close, sticking to the sides of the walls while they pass helps you to not die immediately. Also, in general for the fire trial, it sometimes depends on their rotations and timing your runs from every candle. Good luck to both of you! oreoheart SkyRally

@eager jetty - It's all about timing. When you're at a checkpoint, wait for a monster to cross the path you need to take then book it. Get as far as you can down a candle path. When you die, try to follow the same path from the checkpoint and try to get farther. If that doesn't work, follow a new path next time when you come to a branch. There are some "safe" candles on the 3rd floor, but unlike on the 2nd, they don't look any different. But when you find one, wait there and try and get a sense for the pattern of the monsters, and book it down the next path once they pass across/through it

(if you didn't already know, the triple candles on the 2nd floor are safe- you can stand there as long as you want and won't get killed)

the main tip is to place the boat in a high traffic area where a lot of your friends will see it. as with normal shrine messages, three of your friends have to like your boat for it to become public. having lots of active friends also helps, naturally. getting more than 10 likes won't give you any extra hearts though ZWy_mew1

@upbeat maple - You've gotta figure out the timing of the monsters. They all follow repeating, set paths. And on the 2nd and especially 3rd floor, there are false paths meant to lead you astray. So you've gotta take the right path with the right timing. In the dark. With scary monsters circling around everywhere.

I got through the fire trial finally!

my tip: keep moving and lighting candles. the hardest part is between the two check points after the start of the third area if you can get to the check point right before the end, then its almost a straight shot after that.

@inner bough - Congratulations! Yes, the stretch between the 2nd and 3rd checkpoints on the 3rd floor is very difficult. I've done the trial probably close to 10 times now, and I still have trouble with timing it right and remembering which path to take.

Now an unfair advantage would be if it was nearly impossible, or would take a insane amount of time to collect something that you really would need to spend money. im on the next to the last island and i cant get to the final island.. theres a wind wall there now

me and my friend both are having a hard time

there used to be candle arrows.. those are gone

everytime we try to use the island “boost” ut throws us toward the final island but then we hit a wind wall just before it

I assure you it's possible, I just did it 20 minutes ago. The candle arrows are still there, but someone ahead of you probably lit them. You need to jump towards the back of that wind boost island (where the wind originates) to get the biggest possible boost.

The candles go away once the wind boost starts.

Like if you light the candles yourself the same thing happens.

I just did the trial and nobody was ahead of me and I lit the candles myself, but when I fell and went back to the checkpoint, all that was there was the wind boost

You gotta switch to glide mode asap. Sometimes I hit the wind wall too, but then I can get through or around or over it for some reason. Like I said, jump into the side of the wind boost closest to you to get the biggest boost, switch to glide mode asap. For some reason having the camera in birds eye view before boosting helps too.

i think tgc changed the flight mode situation since i last did air trial. thats why we’re having a hard time now. and too whoever went ahead of us lit the candle arrows. kinda wish those arrows remained. tysm for ur help 💕💕

No problem, so glad to hear that you made it, @rain garden ! Yes, they changed the flight mode toggle to full manual, added a checkpoint, and seemingly made the surfaces a little less slippery (but that last one is just a guess on my part).

#

The flight mode thing actually helps for candle runs in the bird's nest in prairie, since you aren't automatically put into glide mode over clouds, and can more easily get into the caves under the floating islands.
