I have ptsd and it has impacted my ability to sleep. But it can be multiple things; you might have a physical sleep condition like sleep apnea but also something like anxiety that also could affect your sleep.

it's not a necessity, but the game tries to funnel you into that playstyle. if you dont care about cosmetics whatsoever, then knowing candle running is not going to benefit you in any way. not to mention a lot of them are scattered across places that you will end up visiting so many times to the point it's simply gonna be on your way.

regardless, it's your game. your own playstyle. no one should care if youre supposedly bad at it, just do what's fun for you and ignore anyone who tries to make you feel bad for it

every single cosmetic? no, not really. but some of the pieces can be viewed as a good item in order to make an outfit. some of the little trinkets may be viewed as a complementary option for some of the outfits. in these cases people will view them as nice-to-haves but the problem isn't really that. the problem is that the fomo is born out of the punishingly long return time for the items players miss out on. event items return yearly, that is good, but travelling spirits don't operate like that. they are randomly picked and arrive every two weeks, which means there's a low chance your desired spirit will arrive, and you'll only have the opportunity to buy its cosmetics much, much later in the game's life cycle.

the game is lackluster when it comes to its gameplay loop, and the most refined aspect of it is candle running and character customization. the variety included with customization part is what feeds into the desire of players wanting more and more over time. the burnout is caused due to base gameplay lacking something as refined as the candle running, and events/seasons try to solve this issue while also trying to introduce more cosmetics. when the gameplay is repetitive and people have already mastered it and enjoyed the mastery period, there isn't much else to do, helping burnout creep in. unfortunately, as helpful as it sounds, picking only one or two cosmetics to buy still encourages people to grind for multiple days on end because of cosmetic prices being really high
